Geraldine (Burt) Jackson passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 18, 2021. Geraldine was born November 4, 1931 to Merle and Florence Burt, of Salina, KS.

She was married to Harold Jackson in 1964, in Salina, KS.

Geraldine was member of the American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jackson; parents, Merle and Florence Burt; sister, Laverna (Burt) Lundstrom; brothers Bill Burt, Verle Burt, Robert Burt, Paul Burt.

She is survived by her sister, Joanna (Lenny) Perez of San Jose, CA, sister-in-law, Carolyn Burt of New Cambria; daughters, Mary (Frenchie) LaFlamme, Melody (Johnny) McKenna; sons, Kenneth Jackson, Richard Jackson, Earl Jackson (Amy); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Geraldine loved to camp and fish with her husband, family and friends. She and Harold were members of the Moose Lodge. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed a night out square dancing,&nbsp;

A viewing will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday February 26, 2021 and following will be a graveside service for family only at 1:00 pm at Roselawn Memorial Park. We are sorry but due to the COVID 19 Virus there will be no memorial at this time.

Michael Timothy Mesecher, 63, of Minneapolis Kansas was reunited with his Lord and heavenly family on Saturday,&nbsp;February 20, 2021 with his sister at his side.

Michael, affectionately known as "Model T" to his nieces and nephews was a gentle man with a love for music that began at an early age.&nbsp;From the countless hours harmonizing with his family, to church services and school activities Michael had the heart of a musician. He had the ability to pick up any instrument he had an inkling toward and soon play as if he had been doing so for years. He lugged numerous instruments home from school, sometimes to the dismay of his siblings, a tuba comes most prominently to mind.

A 1976 graduate of Minneapolis High School, Michael sang in the choir, school musicals, and played numerous instruments in band, he also led the MHS marching band for three years as the drum major. His expertise garnished Michael a band scholarship to Kansas State University and a proud member of the KSU marching band.

Michael worked alongside his family for many years at People's Cafe, and later moved to Morgantown West Virginia where he continued his life of service.

Music was a constant in Michael's life, he was the pianist and organist at Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Minneapolis, as well as numerous churches is Morgantown.

He joyfully sang with the Salina diocesan choir whenever the opportunity arose.

Michael was flamboyant, a prankster and always shown great concern for others, which was displayed numerous times while being cared for in his final days as he would ask, "When did you eat last" and " Have you been getting any rest?" to his caregiver.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother Mark, his father, Don, sister Jo, and most recently his mother, Frankie.

Those who await a heavenly reunion are his siblings Shell and Mitch; &nbsp;sister-in-law Shannon Platt; nephews, Mark, Daniel, Corey, Zach, and Josh; nieces, Dawn and Kelsey; great-nephews, Xander, Jhett, and Connor; great-nieces, Jordan, Emma, and Aubrey; Aunt Beverly Mesecher Stoke; and his family of friends at Elkhorn Apartments.

Friday, February 26 there will be a visitation with family present from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral home, 405 Argyle Ave in Minneapolis followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. 

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday February 27 at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 216 Cherry Street, in Minneapolis.&nbsp; Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.&nbsp;

Gertrude Loretta "Gretchen" Kimble, 98, of Inman, KS, passed away at 9:45 p.m., Thursday, December 31st, 2020 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Kansas. Gretchen was born in Bremen, Germany on March 3, 1922, a daughter of Ernestine Marie (Beuke) and William Pfizenmayer. Gretchen attended the Chicago schools and graduated from Lucy Flowers Technical High School for girls, Chicago, Illinois. Gertrude Loretta Pfizenmayer was united in marriage to Donald L. Kimble on February 20, 1946 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois. The young couple established their first home together in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to Inman, Kansas in 1951. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two daughters and one son, Donna, Ralph, and Linda. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ Inman, Kansas where she served on Church Counsel, taught Kindergarten thru High School Sunday School, was a member of Women's Fellowship, and served in many other capacities. Gretchen worked for Bell Telephone Company in Chicago before her marriage. She was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner and after the children were in school, she worked for Ike's Jack and Jill grocery store. Gretchen was a volunteer for the Blood Drives, Inman Senior Center, and Pleasantview Home. She enjoyed sewing, Knitting, watching her children's and grandchildren's activities, and spending time with her family. Gretchen valued her time and friends here in Inman more than anyplace she lived. She is survived by her children, Donna L. Toews and husband Jim, of Inman, Kansas, Ralph Kimble and wife Debbie, of Wichita, Kansas, and Linda Klaassen, of Whitewater, Kansas; her six grandchildren, Dale Hadlock, Allison Taylor and husband Jake, Grant Kimble and wife Julie,Kourt Klaassen and wife Tracy, Derek Klaassen and wife Stacee, and Brent Klaassen and wife Megan; her 14 great-grandchildren, Dominick Hadlock, Alex Taylor, Emma Taylor, Rainy Cook, Max Cook, Fox Cook, Dylan Klaassen, Drew Klaassen, Kole Klaassen, Kynzee Klaassen, Decker Klaassen, Halston Klaassen; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ernestine Pfizenmayer; her husband Donald; her sisters, Joan Geist, Erna Hartel and Hildy Smeby and two son-in-laws, Tom Klaassen and Larry Hadlock. Nov. 15, 1930 – Feb. 21, 2021 Keith George Mines, who died Sunday at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, was born Nov. 15, 1930, on a cold winter’s night in a farmhouse near Oberlin, Kansas. It was the midst of the Great Depression, and his parents, Cecil and Anne Mines, were not prepared for a twin brother appearing moments later. They put the babies in a makeshift incubator – shoeboxes inside a wooden drawer – on the stove to stay warm. The twins had two older sisters, Patricia and Delphine; the oldest child, Billy Chris, had died at birth. The family soon moved to a farm near Cedar Bluffs, where Keith attended Beaver Creek country school until eighth grade. Decatur County High School in Oberlin was 12 miles away so the twins boarded in town during the week, returning to the farm on weekends to help out. They both excelled in multiple sports, most notably wrestling, and Keith was salutatorian of his graduating class in 1948. Keith attended Kansas State for a year before marrying his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Jo Frickey, at the Methodist Church in Oberlin on Oct. 15, 1950. The newlyweds moved to Denver where Keith worked at Remington Rand Office Equipment. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. An aptitude test there uncovered a talent for accounting, which proved to be the beginning of a long, successful career. Their first child, Cynthia Jo, was born at the base hospital on March 26, 1955. After Sgt. Mines, who received a medal for good conduct, was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1956, he returned to Kansas State, determined to get a degree in accounting. He was inducted into Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity, and named the top accounting student at Kansas State by the Wall Street Journal. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting and passed all parts of the CPA on the first try. He accepted a position on the commercial audit staff with one of the country’s top accounting firms, Arthur Andersen, and the family moved to the Kansas City area in 1958. They had two more children there: Michael Keith, in 1958, and Lynda Lea, in 1959. Keith’s promotion to manager in 1963 meant much longer hours and more travel, taking him away from his family, so he accepted a position with Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance in McPherson in 1964. They found small-town life more to their liking, and Keith volunteered as a little league baseball coach and with Boy Scout Troop #133. He and Marilyn joined McPherson’s Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling leagues and bridge clubs. He founded his own CPA firm in 1968 and continued to work at the career he loved until age 78 when an extended illness forced “early” retirement. Throughout his life, he upheld the highest ethical standards, both professionally and personally, and was known for his patience, kindness and generosity. After losing his beloved wife in 1993, his affectionate nature focused on his six grandchildren, taking them to Disneyland, Worlds of Fun, Kansas City Royals’ games and Silver Dollar City. He taught them to ride bicycles and never tired of playing tennis or miniature golf with them, and made sure his “candy drawer” was well stocked before they visited. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rowena Anne (Wilson) Mines; wife, Marilyn Frickey Mines; and siblings Billy Chris Mines, Patricia Carswell, Delphine Spencer and Kyle Mines. Survivors include children Cynthia Mines (Toby Stucky), Michael Mines (Janice) and Lynda Bickel (Greg); grandchildren Kelli Smith (Jeff), Tyler Bickel (Kathleen), Amy Bickel, Andrew Mines (Jenny), John Mark Mines (Kendall) and Lyndsey Bickel as well as step grandchildren Sara Stucky and Erica Ruzicka (Mark), three great granddaughters, three step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation (masks required) is 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home in McPherson. Private burial will take place at McPherson Cemetery with celebration of life planned for later this year.

Throughout his life, he upheld the highest ethical standards, both professionally and personally, and was known for his patience, kindness and generosity. After losing his beloved wife in 1993, his affectionate nature focused on his six grandchildren, taking them to Disneyland, Worlds of Fun, Kansas City Royals’ games and Silver Dollar City. He taught them to ride bicycles and never tired of playing tennis or miniature golf with them, and made sure his “candy drawer” was well stocked before they visited. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rowena Anne (Wilson) Mines; wife, Marilyn Frickey Mines; and siblings Billy Chris Mines, Patricia Carswell, Delphine Spencer and Kyle Mines. Survivors include children Cynthia Mines (Toby Stucky), Michael Mines (Janice) and Lynda Bickel (Greg); grandchildren Kelli Smith (Jeff), Tyler Bickel (Kathleen), Amy Bickel, Andrew Mines (Jenny), John Mark Mines (Kendall) and Lyndsey Bickel as well as step grandchildren Sara Stucky and Erica Ruzicka (Mark), three great granddaughters, three step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Visitation (masks required) is 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home in McPherson. Dorothy LeClair Friesen Bauer died peacefully on February 22, 2021. She was born in Salina, Kansas on October 17, 1922, to Frank and Emma LeClair. She was the youngest of 10 children, and the only one to graduate from high school. She received a scholarship to Marymount College in Salina, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1944. After graduation, she started her teaching career in Lebanon, Kansas, teaching high school business courses. There she met and married Eric Friesen, who had been hired as a math teacher after he had returned from service in World War II. They soon began a family and Dorothy paused her teaching in 1946.

In 1957, the family, which had grown to four children, moved to Clay Center, Kansas. In 1961, Dorothy returned to teaching, this time in elementary grades — initially at two-room country schools and later teaching first grade “in town,” retiring in 1983. She taught over 500 students in Clay County during those years and was recognized as a Master Teacher by the State of Kansas.

After retiring, she and Eric continued their love of traveling until his death in 1993. They shared many adventures traveling throughout the United States, with National Forest campgrounds in Colorado among their favorite destinations. In her retirement years, she played bridge regularly. She renewed her interest in painting, something she had done throughout her life. She started working with watercolor. One of her favorite subjects was painting pictures of many homes in Clay Center. She started another creative hobby as well — quilting. She made numerous beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was especially proud of one she made for herself that won a ribbon at the county fair. Dorothy volunteered for many worthy causes throughout her life, including as Girl Scout troop leader, and for the American Cancer Society. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

In 1997, she married Gail Bauer, whose family welcomed her lovingly. With Gail, she traveled to Europe, Australia, and Hawaii. A lifelong learner, Dorothy was always in the front of the tour group at museums and churches, wanting to know just why that stained glass window was so special.&nbsp;

Dorothy, whose name means “gift of God,” truly was just that. She had friends too numerous to count, and always made time to visit them and give them something to smile about. You could always expect you would get a warm hug from her.

Dorothy was never afraid to start a new chapter. After Gail died in December 2013, she moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to be near two of her daughters and their families. She lived at the Treyton Oak Towers senior living facility, where she was on the Residents’ Council; she participated in morning exercise class almost every day. She made many new friends there, and was able to be spend time with family, including two of her four children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren— all of whom live in Louisville. She also found a new church home in Louisville attending Highland Presbyterian Church — she rarely missed Sunday services.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Eric J. Friesen (1993), and her second husband Gail Bauer (2013); as well as her parents and her nine siblings. She is survived by her children: Larry Friesen (Martha) of League City, Texas; Linda Mailen (Gary) of Olathe, Kansas; Laura Rothstein (Mark) of Louisville; Leslie Friesen (Steven Spalding) of Louisville; her grandchildren Kristopher Mailen (Stephanie); Jeremy Mailen; Julia Irzyk (Bryan); Lisa Goldberg (Matt); Andrew Spalding, and Claire Spalding; and her great-grandchildren Reagan Mailen, Aquila Mailen, Juliana Mailen, Rachel Goldberg, and Molly Goldberg. She always appreciated the love and devotion of Gail’s children and their families: Diana and Bob Williams; Bruce and Faun Bauer; Brian Bauer and Bobbi Patterson; and Pera Jo and Tom Rockefeller. Their children and grandchildren were part of her extended family and very special to her.

She appreciated the wonderful friendships she was able to form at Treyton Oaks Towers, including residents as well as many staff members with whom she formed close bonds during her nearly seven years in Louisville.

Steven Edward Ferguson, 81, of Abilene passed away February 21, 2021 at Salina Regional Hospital in Salina. He was born December 27, 1939 in Longford, Kansas the son of Guy and Garnett (Oard) Ferguson. Steve attended the local schools around Dickinson county and graduated from Abilene High School in 1958. 

On June 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sandra Shivers. To this union four children were born, Diane, Deon, Dana and Dawn. They later divorced. In 1976 he married Susan Swisher. She survives of the home.

 Steve worked at various jobs including Safeway, Abilene Lockers, Civil Services at Ft. Riley, Jerry’s IGA and West IGA, retiring in 2005. 

Steven is survived by his wife Susan of the home. Children, Diane Ferguson of Louisburg, Kansas; Deon Vanoni (Jason) of Keller, Texas; Dana Ferguson (Christine) of Independence, Missouri; and Dawn Moore of Blue Springs, Missouri. Two step-children, Brian Machal (Jennifer) of Kansas City, Kansas and Kim Wood of St. Joe, Missouri. Fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Pat Boyd (Rod). He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vearl Ferguson.

Funeral services for Steven will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 26, 2021 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home of Abilene. Burial will follow at Abilene City Cemetery. Friends may come by Thursday from 9AM until 8PM on Thursday, February 25 to view and sign the guest register.

SALINA -&nbsp;Kenneth Keith Stenfors.&nbsp; On Saturday, Feb 20, 2021 the world lost an amazing man.&nbsp; Keith was born in Salina, KS on Oct. 23, 1943, the 3rd child out of 6 living children born to Kenneth A &amp; Edith I (Peterson) Stenfors.&nbsp; He passed away in the company of his family at Salina Regional Health Center.

Keith is survived by his wife of 50 ½ years, Delores (Dee), his daughters and their families:&nbsp; Katrina &amp; Brian Yoakum (Rylie &amp; Morgan) of Lawrence; Angela &amp; Kyle Eilts (Finley &amp; Imogen) of New Haven, MO.&nbsp; Other surviving family members include his sister Janice Schmidt of Bennington; Lyle &amp; Nelda Stenfors of Missouri; Jack &amp; Susie Stenfors of Bennington; Bill &amp; Kathi Stenfors of Manhattan and his sister-in-law Roberta Stenfors of Minneapolis.&nbsp; Other family members include many nieces, nephews, great nieces &amp; nephews, great-great nephews &amp; niece, and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Kevin Stenfors, an infant granddaughter Hannah Eilts, his brother Bob, and his brother-in-law LaVon Schmidt.

Keith was raised in Bennington, KS, and had many stories to tell of these years.&nbsp; He attended KSU, Hutchinson Junior College and KTI (forerunner of KSU Polytechnic).&nbsp; His work career involved handling the computer operations of the Lee Company &amp; OCCK.&nbsp; His military service included the Air National Guard (Hutchinson) &amp; Army Reserves (Salina).

Family &amp; friendships were very important parts of Keith’s life.&nbsp; He enjoyed working &amp; visiting with relatives &amp; friends.&nbsp; Many miles were driven to attend birthday parties, graduations, weddings, dance recitals, sporting activities, family reunions, etc.&nbsp; One of Keith’s retirement goals was to take photos of every Kansas courthouse.&nbsp; He wanted to be able to say that he had been in all 105 counties in Kansas.&nbsp; He had 19 courthouses left to photo.

Keith was a people person.&nbsp; He usually had a smile and a friendly greeting for everyone he met.&nbsp; He made friends with a variety of people as he walked the neighborhood.&nbsp; One young neighbor commented that Keith always had a smile for him and made him feel good.&nbsp; If he were standing in line for an event, Keith would often make friends with the people in front and in back of him before the line moved.&nbsp; Playing pool at the Senior Center became one of his favorite retirement activities.&nbsp; He made many friends as the pool team traveled to other towns for tournaments.&nbsp; He enjoyed a variety of sports from high school to college, especially Bennington High School and KSU games.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Eugene Reese on June 9th, 1960. He preceded her in death. She was married to Norman Spangler on April 18th, 2020. He survives of the home.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Jim Reese (Stacey) of Beloit, KS; daughters, Stephanie Moyer of Gypsum, KS, and Joyce Hitchcock (Gordy) of Mentor, KS; stepchildren, Jeff Spangler of Dallas, TX and Susan Baughm (Ray) of West Palm Beach, FL; former daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson; brother, James Peck of Independence, MO; sisters Lucretia Henry and Marge Bowles of Gypsum, KS and Delores Moore of Belvidere, IL. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Peck; her first husband, Eugene; granddaughter, Mindy Reese; stepson, Doug Spangler; son-in-law, Eldon Moyer; grandson Kevin Moyer; brothers, Warren, William and Lewis and sisters, Kate, Isabelle, Dorothy and Grace.

Phyllis was a homemaker and proud farm wife. She was a 4-H leader and member of the Needle Craft Club and Family and Community Education Organization, for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was an avid Painter and her family is blessed to have her works of art. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, on Thursday, February 25th, from 4-8 p.m., with family receiving visitors from 5-8 p.m.

Services will be at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1344 Daisy Rd, Abilene, KS on Friday, February 26th at 10 a.m., with burial following at Poheta Cemetery.

She was a Sunday school teacher for young children at First Christian Church.&nbsp; She was a hard-working loving mother of four children, she earned an award “Outstanding Parent” by the Midway Regional Council of Parents Without Partners March of 1976.

Survivors include her four children, Joseph Funk and Marcus Funk, both of Salina, Brandon Funk Sr., of Independence, MO, and Monica Fackrell, of Mountain Home, ID; sisters, Trish Elliott, of Russell and Nina Dale, of Edmond OK; four grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 25. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2021 all at Ryan Mortuary.

<a></a>Ruth L. Walker Cooney went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2021, in the presence of family at The Cedars in McPherson, Kansas. Ruthie, as family and friends called her, was born on October 22, 1929, in Ottawa, Kansas to Lloyd and Maude Walker. She had an older brother, C.W., that they called “Bud.” Ruth’s mother was ahead of her time as the owner of Walker’s Paint and Wallpaper store.

The family attended and were actively involved in the Ottawa Free Methodist Church. Ruth was given the opportunity to attend Central Christian High School in McPherson which set the course for the rest of her life. At Central, she met Henry Cooney, the love of her life. They married in September of 1947 and settled in McPherson. Henry and Ruth were parents to 4 daughters, Linda, Debra, Kim and Jill. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and the girls were frequently dressed alike in clothing sewn by Ruthie. 

The Free Methodist Church was an integral part of the family’s life. So were the members of the church as Ruth and family spent time camping, traveling, entertaining and just loving their church friends. Ruth sang in the choir and joined many committees; she and the family were active members of the congregation. She’s also remembered as the manager of the Tiger Den snack bar at Central College. College students over many years enjoyed her homemade donuts. Once Henry and Ruth both retired, they spent many years traveling in RVs with the Craftsmen for Christ. These years of ministry were among the most wonderful, cherished years of their lives. After their traveling days were over, the couple moved to The Cedars where they enjoyed many happy years. After Henry’s passing in 2013 and living on her own, Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2019. She lived the remainder of her life at The Cedars, where she was loved by all because of the joy and fun she brought to everyone she encountered. Ruth is survived by daughters Linda Pharr (Tom), Plano, TX; Debra Wagoner (Alan), and Kim Johnson, McPherson; and Jill Kennedy (Mark), Lewisville, TX. Henry and Ruth had 10 grandchildren Lindsay Macedo, Lance Arnott, Sarah Hendricks, Andy Wagoner, Amanda Walbaum, Cody Johnson, Jason Pecho, Jensen Yancey, Haleigh Yancey and Reid Yancey; 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ruthie will be greatly missed by her family and many lifelong friends. They will miss her wit and humor, her kind words, her laugh and her smile. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Walker Cooney went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2021, in the presence of family at The Cedars in McPherson, Kansas. Ruthie, as family and friends called her, was born on October 22, 1929, in Ottawa, Kansas to Lloyd and Maude Walker. She had an older brother, C.W., that they called “Bud.” Ruth’s mother was ahead of her time as the owner of Walker’s Paint and Wallpaper store. The family attended and were actively involved in the Ottawa Free Methodist Church. Ruth was given the opportunity to attend Central Christian High School in McPherson which set the course for the rest of her life. At Central, she met Henry Cooney, the love of her life. They married in September of 1947 and settled in McPherson. Henry and Ruth were parents to 4 daughters, Linda, Debra, Kim and Jill. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and the girls were frequently dressed alike in clothing sewn by Ruthie. The Free Methodist Church was an integral part of the family’s life. So were the members of the church as Ruth and family spent time camping, traveling, entertaining and just loving their church friends. Ruth sang in the choir and joined many committees; she and the family were active members of the congregation. She’s also remembered as the manager of the Tiger Den snack bar at Central College. College students over many years enjoyed her homemade donuts. Once Henry and Ruth both retired, they spent many years traveling in RVs with the Craftsmen for Christ. These years of ministry were among the most wonderful, cherished years of their lives. After their traveling days were over, the couple moved to The Cedars where they enjoyed many happy years. After Henry’s passing in 2013 and living on her own, Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2019. She lived the remainder of her life at The Cedars, where she was loved by all because of the joy and fun she brought to everyone she encountered. Ruth is survived by daughters Linda Pharr (Tom), Plano, TX; Debra Wagoner (Alan), and Kim Johnson, McPherson; and Jill Kennedy (Mark), Lewisville, TX. Henry and Ruth had 10 grandchildren Lindsay Macedo, Lance Arnott, Sarah Hendricks, Andy Wagoner, Amanda Walbaum, Cody Johnson, Jason Pecho, Jensen Yancey, Haleigh Yancey and Reid Yancey; 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ruthie will be greatly missed by her family and many lifelong friends. They will miss her wit and humor, her kind words, her laugh and her smile. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Betty Jean Hollaway Vernon was born on October 10, 1928 and passed away on February 18, 2021.

Betty was born in Beloit, Kansas, to Mabel (Lynch) and Frank Hollaway. She was a life-long resident of Mitchell County, Kansas. She spent her young years roaming the west side of Beloit with many friends. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1946.

She married the love of her life, Robert Vernon, on November 17, 1946. They resided on the Vernon farmstead north of Simpson, Kansas. Betty was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She excelled at cooking and helping on the farm. After their children, Richard and Kay, were older and in school, she spent many years working at the Solomon Valley Feedlot as a computer operator before personal computers were available. She enjoyed this work and the people there very much.

&nbsp;Betty and Bob hosted a local bridge club for many years and enjoyed most games of cards. Pinochle was shared with all who were interested but didn’t want the work of bridge. Betty was involved in several local ladies’ clubs over the years. She was also a longtime member of the Beloit United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her children Richard (Agnes), Fargo, N.D., Kay (Ron) Solt, Concordia, KS; grandchildren Jason (Sarah, great-grandson Jaron) Solt, Wichita, KS, Ty (Jess) Solt, Minneapolis, KS, Kayla (Nathan, great-grandchildren Liam and Rylee) Brown, Manhattan, KS, and Taylor Solt, Beloit; a sister, Mary Angell, Ozark, MO; a sister-in-law, Arlene Kadel, Beloit; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; stepmother Ethel (VanAmburg) Hollaway; sister Frances Dunn and brother William.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, February 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Beloit followed by burial in Glasco Cemetery. There will be a light lunch held at the church after the Commitment Service. All activities will follow COVID-19 guidelines. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Robert E. Muhlig, Sr., 81, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away on February 20, 2021 at his home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 22, 1939 to Joseph and Marie Muhlig.&nbsp;&nbsp;He lived in the Chicago area until joining the US Army in 1958, serving until 1964.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he met his wife, Judith Catlin.&nbsp;&nbsp;They celebrated their 60th&nbsp;wedding anniversary on June 3, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob and Judy had three children:&nbsp;&nbsp;Bob Jr, Jennifer and Ryan. Dispite growing up in the city, Bob was known as an avid outdoorsman. He excelled at hunting, archery and fishing with his two sons.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bob was a proud firefighter and crew chief, retiring from the Fort Riley Fire Department in 1989.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a lover of animals, especially dogs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his son Bob Jr, brother Billy and his favorite dog, Dee.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob is survived by his wife Judy; daughter Jennifer (Travis) of Council Grove and son Ryan of Augusta, KS; grandsons: Matthew Gordon (Kayla) of Oakley, Brett Muhlig of Herington, Garrett Gordon of Council Grove; granddaughter Madelyn Muhlig of Augusta; great-granddaughter Winnie Gordon of Oakley; sister Mary Rollins of New Lenox, IL;&nbsp;&nbsp;many nieces, nephews and dear friends.&nbsp;

Helen May (Whitesell) Warnica, born to George H. and Nina S. Lacy Whitesell on Sept. 5, 1928 at Waterville, Kansas, and is one of eight children. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: George Jr., Robert L., Melvin D., and Wayne L.; and her sisters: Jean Fairchild, Marie Davis, and one who died in infancy. Helen attended rural schools in the first two years at Waterville, KS. The family moved to Frankfort in 1936 and she attended 3rd through 8th and went to Frankfort High School. She married John Reich in 1946 to which five children were born—four sons and a daughter: Ron of Manhattan, KS; Terry of Payson, AZ; Tom of Heneryetta, OK; Jack of Abilene, KS; Anette Wright of Athens, GA. Helen worked as a clerk in a drug store, also as a waitress. After her daughter was born she had an in-home daycare in Manhattan for nine years. She worked at Cole's Department Store and JC Penny’s as a clerk and at the Wonder Bread thrift store in Manhattan. After John passed away in 1976, she moved back to Frankfort in 1978. She met her husband Emmett and they married in 1982. They had ten wonderful years together. He went to be with the Lord in April 1992. While in Frankfort, she belonged to the Frankfort United Methodist Church, RSVP for 21 years. She helped with Rotary dinners and funeral dinners. Helen belonged to American Legion Auxiliary 25 years, and Red Hats. She baked pies and goodies for neighbors and friends, and was known in Frankfort as the “Pie Lady.” She sold her home in Frankfort in 2013 and moved to Abilene, KS to be closer to family. Helen has 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, She entered rest Feb. 20, 2021 in Abilene.

Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Barrett Cemetery near Frankfort, Kansas with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. Friends may sign the register book until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dickinson County or to Meals on Wheels and may be sent in care of the funeral home.&nbsp;&nbsp;
