May 2, 1930 ~ May 29, 2021 (age 91)

Ruby Valora Chizek was born on May 2, 1930, near Agenda, Kansas, the daughter of Victor V. and Alice (Anderson) Jarrett. Ruby attended Agenda schools, graduating from Agenda High School, class of 1948.

She was united in marriage to Dale LeRoy Chizek on April 29, 1951, and to this union of 60 years, four children were born.

Ruby worked as a clerk at the Food Mart in Belleville, and in her free time she worked in her garden and tending to her flowers, crocheting, and feeding her backyard birds. She also enjoyed playing bridge and quilting with friends, and having a cup of coffee with a rohlík or kolache when visiting with her family and friends.

Ruby passed away on May 29, 2021, in Belleville, at the age of 91 years and 27 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, daughter Glory Chizek, son Guy Chizek, and grandson Alan Chizek. She is also preceded in death by her brother Verlin J. Jarrett and his wife Marjorie, brother Jack J. Jarrett and his wife Arlene, and sister Virginia Johnson and her husband George.

Ruby will be forever missed and her memories will be forever cherished by her daughter Dala Chizek of Cuba, daughter Renna Baldwin and her husband Todd of Arkansas, daughter-in-law Karla Chizek of Agenda, grandson Carl Chizek and Melanie, granddaughter Amber Thomas and her husband Patrick, grandson John Williams, and granddaughter Vanessa Willaims. Ruby is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Evan, Avery, Owen, Aeden, Kay Ann and Wiatt.

Memorials services will be on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba, with Pastor Phil Goombi officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church, where a luncheon will be served.

A private family burial will occur at Agenda City Cemetery later in the afternoon.

Friends may sign Ruby’s book at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
