Justin Scott Smith, 45, of Minneapolis, Kansas, died Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Salina Regional Health Center, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on December 2, 1979, in Guymon, Oklahoma, Justin was the beloved son of Morris and Debbie Hyman. He married Trisha (Shoemaker) Smith, on August 31, 2006. Together they raised four wonderful children — Keillon, Atlee, and twins Tait and Kemper — who were the absolute light of his world.Justin was the proud owner and operator of Justin Smith Concrete. He learned the trade from his father and uncles, carrying on a family legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and love of all things concrete. Justin took great pride&nbsp;in his work and was known for his attention to detail, dedication, and the heart he poured into every job.

Those who knew Justin will remember his heart of gold, his loyalty to family and friends, and the way he never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His easy smile, strength, and humor will be deeply missed&nbsp;by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Justin’s life, like all lives, held both joy and struggle. He faced his challenges with determination and love for his family, and he will be remembered&nbsp;for the goodness at the core of who he was. His story is a reminder of how powerful God’s grace and forgiveness can be — and how deeply one person’s love can impact&nbsp;so many others.

He is survived by his wife, Trisha; their four children, Keillon, Atlee, Tait, and Kemper; his mother, Debbie Hyman; his siblings, Shawnta Lim and husband Dr. Jeff Lim of Guymon, Crystal Hyman, and Michael Hyman, all of Salina; his special “grandpa-in-law”, Glen Lott of Minneapolis; and his Uncle&nbsp;Jack and Aunt Dixie Beery of Garden City. He is also survived&nbsp;by many incredibly special extended family members and dear friends who loved him like family.

Justin was preceded in death by his father, Morris Hyman, his very special grandpa, Laverne “Popie” Gaylord and his grandma, Ida Gaylord.

A celebration of Justin’s life will be held&nbsp;on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Church, 845 Woodland Ave., Minneapolis, Kansas 67467. The family requests casual attire.

Berneda Mae Swanson, age 90, Concordia, KS, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her residence in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on August 2, 1935, in Republic County, Kansas to Vernon H. and Flossie M. (Landreth) Roberts.

Berneda was a 1954 graduate of Concordia High School.

She married Richard Swanson on September 5, 1954, at Scandia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He preceded her in death on September 7, 2004.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union four children were born, Darrell, Catherine Ann, Robert, and Darla.

Berneda worked at a local drugstore, before finding her dream job at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator.&nbsp;&nbsp;The company then merged with AT&amp;T.&nbsp;&nbsp;After 35 years of working her and Richard moved back to Concordia and opened up the Floor Store and More.

Berneda loved to remodel homes and flip them and owned several rentals in the Concordia community.

She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her hobbies include crafting, baking, and cooking big meals for family.

She was a member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;She also volunteered through the church helping with cooking meals, daycare and various church activities.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Swanson, Concordia, daughter, Darla Jacobs (Roger), Jamestown, eight grandchildren, Colsen, Cambrie &amp; Caigen Swanson, Dustin Swanson, Chantell McKenzie, Cyranda Ready (Bo), Skyler Jacobs (Starleen), MaKayla Jacobs, nine, great-grandchild, Shevelle Smith, Rochelle, Keisha, Ashlynn and RosaLee Ready,&nbsp;&nbsp;Kaysen Jacobs, Taylor Pierce, Joel Fuller, Jaxson Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded by her parents, Vernon and Flossie, husband, Richard Swanson, son, Robert Swanson, infant daughter, Catherine Ann, a granddaughter, Sara Swanson Smith, brother, Donald Roberts.

Connie Kathlene Bowman, 84, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.

Connie was born as the youngest of six children to Doris (Best) McQueen and her husband, Joseph Edward “Ed” McQueen, in Hutchinson, Kansas on June 1, 1941.&nbsp; She lived in Hutchinson until her marriage to James “Jim” Robert Bowman on December 23, 1964, who she met while attending college at Emporia State University.&nbsp;

Jim was in the Navy, and that led to their living in Newport, RI, Athens, GA, Seattle, WA, and Pearl Harbor, HI in their first fourteen months of marriage.&nbsp; When Jim was deployed to Vietnam, Connie returned to Kansas and completed her teaching degree.&nbsp; After the Navy, the couple moved to Wichita, and she taught grade school in Maize as Jim was working on a Masters at Wichita State University.&nbsp; They then moved to Pekin, IL where she taught while Jim worked at Caterpillar in Peoria and finally, home schooled her youngest daughter when they returned to Kansas.&nbsp; She lived the rest of her 84 years in McPherson where she was co-0wner of McPherson Rental Center and kept the books in good order for 41 years.&nbsp; Being a strong believer in Christ, He was always number one in the guidance of her life.

Connie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim; son, James Bowman (Kelly); daughters, Kathlene “Kit” Bowman (Matt) and Becky Bowman; and seven grandchildren, Sarah, Robin, Jimmy, Daniel, Tim, Mariah, and Kei.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Ed McQueen; brothers, Harley Davis (Donna), Don McQueen (Marilyn), and Ed McQueen (Linda); sisters, Juanita Stucky and Marjorie Green (Faye); and son, Scott Bowman (Tara).

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 17, 2025, at New Hope Evangelical Church with Pastor George Bocox officiating.&nbsp;

Doyle Lynn Thurman, 68, passed away on November 8, 2025. Born on September 19, 1957, in Crossville, Tennessee, Doyle spent much of his life in the Big Lick Community and was most recently residing in Ellsworth, Kansas.

After graduating high school, Doyle proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career in oil and gas exploration, working as a crew manager and traveling extensively across the country.

Doyle is lovingly remembered by his former wife and lifelong friend, Julie Thurman; his children, Samuel Heron, Sara Reed, and Rebecca Heron; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Heron, and Emma Reed. He is also survived by his mother, Hallie Thurman; sister, Anna Vanwinkle; brother, Shane Thurman; four nieces; and a large extended family of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Thurman; paternal grandparents, Hugh and Pearl Thurman; and maternal grandparents, Winley and Zephie Phipps.In accordance with Doyle’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Roger Hoeh was born on June 15, 1952, to Jay and Zada (Olson) Hoeh, and grew up in Beverly, Kansas — the community and countryside he would call home his entire life. He shared his life and love with his wife, Jean (Sundgren) Hoeh, walking side by side through 46 years of marriage filled with faith, hard work, and devotion to family. From a young age, Roger learned the value of hard work, humility, and faith — lessons taught by his parents and reinforced by a lifetime spent close to the land.

He grew up with a deep love for cattle, a good horse, a trusty dog, and the open range — a love that became both his life’s work and his calling. He poured that calling into Sun Ranch — the land he tended, the herd he built, and the family he raised upon it.

Roger faithfully served his community and cherished the friendships he made along the way. Whether through his work with local organizations or simply supporting neighbors and friends, he was always present — a steady friend with a quick wit and a generous heart.

Roger’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved watching them grow up on the ranch he cherished so deeply — attending their sporting events, hearing about their hunting adventures, and teaching them to care for cattle and live with integrity. He didn’t need to say much; his life did the talking.

He leaves behind a legacy not only in the land but in the lives he touched. Sun Ranch still carries his fingerprints on every gate and pasture — a lasting reminder of a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and trusted fully in his Savior.

Roger Hoeh 

David Alan Torrey, 78, of Salina, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born February 19, 1947, in Olean, New York, the son of Floyd and Bonnie (Quillen) Torrey.&nbsp; On May 29, 1971, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Gile in Ellis, Kansas.&nbsp; David served in the United States Army for 20 years with tours including, Europe, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam.&nbsp; During his service, he received numerous honors including a Purple Heart.&nbsp; After his retirement from the Army, David spent 22 years working Federal Civil Service at Fort Riley.&nbsp; He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1432 and a member of the Purple Heart Chapter in Salina.&nbsp; David was proud of serving his country and always flew the flag and talked about what it meant.&nbsp; He enjoyed spending time with his family,&nbsp;cheering grandkids on at their events, collecting&nbsp;coins, and coffee with the guys.

Francis T. Steiner, 85 passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Village Manor in Abilene, KS. 

He was born May 4, 1940 near Durham, KS the son of Ralph and Anne (Reznicek) Steiner. On April 15, 1961 he was united in marriage to Rita Silhan in Marion, KS. She survives of the home. 

Francis farmed and raised cattle northwest of Durham for over 60 years. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing around the Marion county area. He is survived by his loving wife Rita of the home. Three sons: John (Lisa) Steiner of Abilene, KS; Ron Steiner of Tampa, KS; and Ken Steiner of Colorado Springs, CO. One granddaughter, Kirsten (Tom) Horacek of Simpson KS, Three great-grandchildren; Tommy Lee, Adalyn and Lance Horacek. Three step-grandchildren; Justin, Cody and Tyler Goding. Siblings: Kathleen Oborny; Joyce Buckley; Barbara Rodriguez; Veronica (Jerry) Base; Margaret Bailey and Ralph G. (Ida) Steiner. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held on Thursday, November 13th, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene, Kansas.

Doris Evonne Oller, 85, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025 in Salina.

Born on May 23, 1940, in Ransom, Kansas, Doris was the fourth child of Margaret (Jarvis) and Leroy Ruff. She grew up in Wilson, Kansas, and attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. Doris married Albert Oller in April 1959, and they had two children, Monty Wayne and Lori Jean.

Doris and Al resided and worked in several states, including Kansas, Oklahoma,Texas, and Colorado before retiring in 1997. Doris was a retired secretary and homemaker. After retirement, they returned to Central Kansas and settled on a farm in Holyrood, where they delighted in hosting their four grandchildren.

Doris possessed a warm and caring disposition and cherished social interactions.

She actively participated in numerous organizations, including the Lions Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, church groups, volunteering at the thrift store, and working the concession stand at youth baseball games.

Doris’s parents, her older brother, two older sisters, and her husband, Albert,predeceased her. She is survived by her children, Monty (Penny) of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Lori Van Houten (Gary) of Abilene, Texas, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Church in Lorraine, the Methodist Church in Wilson, or St. Paul’s UMC. Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Doris Evonne Oller

Helen M. Wallace, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Oakley Place in Topeka, KS. Helen was born on March 28, 1929, in Marysville, California, to Gunnar Knudsen and Margarethe Katharine (Madsen) Knudsen. 

The family moved to New York and then to Hurley, Mississippi, where Helen resided on a small farm until she was 19.

Helen graduated from Moss Point School in 1946, worked a year in the woolen mill and then attended Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Kansas with her friend, Joy Rasmussen Jacobsen, and began her career as a teacher. She taught in the Bethany School for 2 years and then at Barnard School for 5 years.

Helen met and married Frank Wallace in 1953. To their union was born 3 children: Leesa, Lynnette and Max. In 1957, she and Frank moved to their current farm outside Barnard. This was her home for the next 60 years. After the birth of her first child, she was a stay-at-home mom. She spent her time running the household, supporting her husband on the farm, teaching Sunday School, becoming a 4-H leader, and participating in other community activities.

Helen was a member of First Baptist Church in Barnard and was actively involved in the church. She taught the junior high and senior high Sunday School classes for over 20 years. She was involved with the women’s group and served in all the offices as requested. She also served on several church committees over the years.In the community, Helen was involved with Salt Creek 4-H Club for 15 years, serving as cooking leader, sewing leader and community leader. She was room mother and served as a PTA officer during the years her children were in grade school. When someone in the community passed away, she always fixed a dish of food and took it to the family. At Christmas, she made loaves of quick bread (different variety each year) and delivered them to friends and neighbors.

Helen was known to drive a hay wagon, a grain truck, and take care of pigs when needed. In addition to her family, she fixed many meals for harvest crews and hired men. Helen loved to “dig in the dirt.” Her almost weed-free yard and perennial flowers were beautiful. She had volunteer petunias, tulip bulbs, hardy mums, day lilies, tiger lilies and a few other random plants. Harvesting her asparagus patch was anticipated each spring.

Helen was a good cook and could make a pie crust that came out flaky and tender every time. And her gravy was rarely lumpy. She put up field corn each year in the freezer, usually 100 pints! Nieces and nephews looked forward to having Aunt Helen’s corn at all the family dinners. She was an expert seamstress and sewed most of the clothing for herself and her children and their Barbies.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Gunnar &amp; Grete Knudsen, husband Frank Wallace, and sister Elsie Webb.Helen is survived by her children, Leesa (Ray) Harshaw, Lynnette (Mack) Larrison, and Max (Tammy) Wallace; grandchildren Chelsea (Matt Stephens) Wallace, Paige (Chance) Cranston, and Tanner Wallace; step grandchildren Steve (Debbie) Harshaw, Jeff Harshaw, Ryan (Regina) Harshaw, and Aaron Larrison. She is survived also by 7 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 4 step great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was a deeply committed Christian and spent her life loving the Lord, her family and community. She will be greatly missed by many.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, Barnard, beginning at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 12. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Milo Cemetery. Thomas Breon Pierce, 62, of Salina, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Riverview Estates in Marquette. &nbsp;He was born March 24, 1963, in Salina, to Terrisa Ford. &nbsp;

Thomas was a talented musician who began playing by ear at an early age, throughout his life, he played organ for a multitude of churches and musicians from the West to East Coast. He was raised in the church and continued to work with churches in various communities throughout his life. Thomas' second passion was providing services to those at the end of their life journey. At a young age, he developed a passion for making sure that people looked their best at their final viewing. He worked with a few mortuaries throughout his life making sure people were treated with the highest care, dignity, and respect at the end of their lives.

Left to mourn his passing his mother, Terrisa (McNeal) Ford; brother, Paul Lewis; sisters, Angela Lewis, and Crystal Ford; nieces and nephews, Jamar (Brittney Niesy) Cannon, Tashianna Lewis, Latisha Ford, Terrell Turner, Victoria Ford, and Malia Zaharia; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Paula Sue Cape, 62, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 6, 1963, in McPherson County, KS, the daughter of Everett LeRoy and Ereline Jane (Wills) Cape. Paula graduated from Moundridge High School and earned her degree in nursing from Barton County Community College.&nbsp; She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse.

Paula devoted her life to caring for others. She was a compassionate nurse with Hospice &amp; HomeCare of Reno County and had previously served as an ER nurse at Rice Community Hospital in Lyons, KS. Her dedication and kindness touched countless lives throughout her career.

Paula deeply loved her family and especially cherished her nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own. She will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering care, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Survivors include her siblings, LeRoy Cape (Luz Mila) of McPherson, KS, Marla Jane Sanchez (Tony) of Hutchinson, KS, and Terri Moddelmog (Todd) of Galva, KS; nieces &amp; nephews, Billy Prickett, Jr. (Maricris), Greg Wespe (Christina), Cody Cape (Madison), Cheyenne Sanchez (Austin), Trey Moddelmog (Zoe), Devin Cape (Peyton), Nick Criqui, &amp; Tia Moddelmog; great-nieces &amp; great-nephews, Phoenix, Josie, Calla, Rowyn, Kendra, Kayleigh, &amp; Paige; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett LeRoy Cape and Ereline Jane Cape-Hardee; grandparents, Everett T. Cape and Marjorie (Cape) Buckley; and great-nephew, Madden Cape.

 </figure>Paula Sue Cape, 62, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, surrounded by her family.She was born July 6, 1963, in McPherson County, KS, the daughter of Everett LeRoy and Ereline Jane (Wills) Cape. Paula graduated from Moundridge High School and earned her degree in nursing from Barton County Community College.&nbsp; She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse.Paula devoted her life to caring for others. She was a compassionate nurse with Hospice &amp; HomeCare of Reno County and had previously served as an ER nurse at Rice Community Hospital in Lyons, KS. Her dedication and kindness touched countless lives throughout her career.Paula deeply loved her family and especially cherished her nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own. Paula Sue Cape

James Clay Perry passed away at home in Olathe, Kansas, on October 15, 2025 at the age of 82. Jim was born on June 18, 1943, in Belleville, Kansas, to William Frank Perry and Helen Twila (Speich) Perry. Jim lost his mother at the age of two and was raised by his father and stepmother Ethel Louise (Tootie) Perry Nunn in Herington, Ks.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The family moved to Herington in 1945 when Jim’s father began working for the Long Island Railroad. Jim attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Herington High School in 1961. He was known in the area for his athleticism and competitiveness, helping Herington win many athletic awards and trophies.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He attended Kansas State University on a football scholarship and played for the Kansas State Wildcats all four years. His fraternity was Delta Tau Delta. Jim participated in the ROTC program and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon his graduation. &nbsp;Jim graduated from Kansas State with a degree in physical education.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;It was at Kansas State that he met his wife, Karen Leister Perry of Salina, Ks. Jim and Karen were married on August 12, 1967, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Salina and were married 58 years.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He began his tenure in the military in Duluth, Minnesota, followed by a stint in Golden, Colorado. Jim served his country in Vietnam for one year. During that year a very close bond began among five friends that lasted a lifetime. The five, along with their wives, gathered every two years to reunite and share memories. Upon his return from Vietnam, he was stationed in Tucson, Arizona. It was in Tucson that Jim earned his MBA in business from the University of Arizona, graduating cum laude. After Jim’s career in the military, where he attained the rank of captain, Jim attended the University of Colorado on the GI bill and received his master’s degree in public administration. He then served as city manager for Thornton, Colorado, and was instrumental in helping build Beaver Creek Ski Resort in Colorado before he was hired by CableOne. Jim and Karen lived in Abilene, Kansas, and Joplin, Missouri, until CableOne eventually took him to Gulfport, Mississippi, where they survived Hurricane Katrina and where he remained until his retirement.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim and Karen loved to travel. They had many memorable trips with their good friends, Mel and Connie.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Upon his retirement Jim and Karen moved back to Kansas to be closer to family and friends. They especially enjoyed following the activities of their great nieces and nephews. They were season ticket holders for the Kansas State football games for many years, and Jim was a member of the Kansas State Golden Cats Club. They were also able to renew friendships with some of their closest friends from their school days.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim loved life. He will be remembered for his big smile, big laugh, and his positive outlook on life. Jim was Karen’s caretaker for the last few years. He took care of her with a big heart and lots of love.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Perry, his brother-in-law Thom McGuire, and his parents-in-law, A.J. and Veta Leister.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his loving wife Karen of Olathe, sister Judy McGuire of Prairie Village, sister-in-law Diane Perry of Wood River, Illinois, sister-in-law Kay Laubhan and husband Vern of Salina, and stepsister Francis Hattabaugh and husband John of Branson, Missouri. Jim is also survived by his nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins whom he adored.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A committal service will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 11:00am at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina, Kansas.

James Clay Perry 

Vevaleen (Vev) Ida May (Hoffman) Luginsland was born August 30, 1936, in Carbon, Iowa to Ray and Halline Hoffman.&nbsp; She was later joined by her brother Fred and sister Violet.&nbsp; The family lived in Iowa until 1943 when they moved to Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Vev attended Central Academy in McPherson, Kansas, for her junior and senior years of high school, graduating in 1954.&nbsp; She went on to continue her education at Central College, where she graduated in 1957.&nbsp; Soon after, she began her teaching career, teaching the fourth grade in Hillsboro, Kansas.&nbsp; She continued her studies at McPherson College, earning her bachelor’s degree in education in 1963.&nbsp;

While attending Central College, Vev met her husband Kenneth (Lugi) Luginsland.&nbsp; They were married in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 5, 1958, and settled in Hillsboro before moving to McPherson. There, Vev taught third and fifth grades for more than 30 years.&nbsp; She deeply loved teaching and treasured her years working alongside her best friend, June Bacon.&nbsp; She developed many lifelong friendships with her fellow teachers and always enjoyed keeping up with her former students.&nbsp;

Vev and Lugi were blessed with two daughters, Tamara Rae and Lisa Jo.&nbsp; Family life was full of church involvement, school events, and travel - Colorado being a favorite destination in both summer and winter.&nbsp; Horn Creek Ranch was a special place shared with many friends and family as well as Estes Park where many trails were hiked and memories made. They also enjoyed trips to Seattle, Baton Rouge and Omaha to visit loved ones.

A devoted member of the Free Methodist Church, Vev taught Sunday and Wednesday evening groups ranging from children to youth, and she also served on the Service Committee.&nbsp; Her faith community was important to her, and she participated in Bible Study Fellowship, Christian Women’s Club, Stonecroft Bible Study and volunteered with the Red Cross.&nbsp; She also served on the Election Board, was a member of KNEA and loved her Happy Handful Club.

Vev and Lugi enjoyed 67 wonderful years together.&nbsp; They shared a love of antique hunting – especially for depression glass pieces for her collection - watching Hallmark movies, doing jigsaw puzzles, bird watching and making countless trips to Estes Park and Branson, their favorite getaways.&nbsp; Vev also devoted many hours sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces for those she loved.

Vev passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, after 89 beautiful years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Halline Hoffman; her brother, Fred; and brother-in-law Galen Myers.

Vev will be dearly missed by her husband of 65 years Kenneth (Lugi); her daughters Tami (Chuck) Singleton and Lisa (Jeff) Kraus; sister Violet Myers; her cherished grandchildren Zack (Kayla) Singleton, Tyler (Ali) Singleton, Jacob (Carolina) Fogarty, Katie (Caleb) Cherryholmes, Matthew (Daysha) Kraus and Leah (fiancé Gavin) Kraus; and her beloved great- grandchildren Ava Singleton, Rhett Mast, Gable Davison, Zander and Theo Singleton, Annika Tinius, Graham, Grayson &amp; Lily Jo Fogarty and Ellis Cherryholmes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, and dear friends.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, deep faith, and lifelong devotion to her family and students.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 13, at McPherson Free Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Griffith officiating.&nbsp;

Vevaleen Ida May Luginsland

Raydean Merle Koehn was born on June 17, 1953, to Bonnie (Gibson) and Lloyd Koehn in McPherson, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children, and often his siblings would say he was the, "Spoiled Child!" He attended Peaceful Prairie country school before graduating from McPherson High School in 1971. When he was growing up, his siblings would often play a game using beanbags but wouldn't include him because he was the baby, and he would have to retrieve the beanbags. Raydean soon became known as "Beanbag" and continued to be called "Bags" the rest of his life. He enjoyed growing up on the farm and found many ways to keep himself busy with his siblings. He worked for Precision Chrome for a number of years and later retired from CHS in 2018.

Through friends, he met Jana Ball, and they began dating in 1976. Bags being an avid hunter, the couple spent many nights driving country roads looking for deer and getting to know each other. They were married at the First United Methodist Church on May 27, 1978. They chose to get married during Memorial Weekend which forced many of their friends to come home from the lake to attend. Bags and Jana were sure their friends never let them forget the wedding that interrupted their holiday weekend!

Bags and Jana welcomed Aaron Samuel in 1981 and Alex Ray in 1985. The family stayed busy throughout the years with their sons’ sporting events, skiing, biking in Colorado and enjoying the water of the Virgin Islands together. The Koehn and Ball Families lived in McPherson so there were many get togethers for birthdays and holidays, which Bags always looked forward to.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing with his buddies, going to the lake, tinkering with boats and hunting deer from a tree stand. After Bags retired, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends, going to K-State football games, skiing with his kids and grandkids and playing with them on the beach, which were very memorable times for him. They enjoyed quite a few trips with friends to Anna Maria Island in Florida, along with adventures to visit cousins in Arizona. Road trips and bike trips with friends or day trips around Kansas were always fun and great memories for Bags and Jana.

Bags thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids and enjoyed many activities with them. Swimming in the backyard was probably the most fun and is where all the grandkids learned to be great swimmers. Eddie would always have to be first in the pool. Aubrey would take care of the wild cats. Zoey would hunt for bugs, and Logan would drive his cars around the pool, all in the backyard! Fun times for everyone! Bags was all about family, and his family will miss him very much.

Bags passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in McPherson.&nbsp; He was seventy-two.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bonnie and Lloyd Koehn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathy Ball and Eddie Ball; brother, Howard Koehn; and brother-in-law, Larry Hamler.

Bags will be missed by his wife of 47 years, Jana; sons, Aaron (Rachel) Koehn and Alex (Emily) Koehn; sister, Marilyn Hamler; brothers, Ronnie (Jana) Koehn and Wayne (Mary) Koehn; sister-in-law, Joyce Koehn; brother-in-law, Sam Ball; and step mother-in-law, Peg Ball. His grandkids include Eddie Koehn (13), Zoey Koehn (8), Aubrey Koehn (11) and Logan Koehn (7). Bags has many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, November 10, 2025, at First United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 11, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Andrew Conard officiating.&nbsp; A private graveside service will be held at New Gottland Lutheran Cemetery.

Ronald “Ronnie” Lagasse, age 65, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the North Central Kansas Medical Center in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born February 12, 1960, in Concordia, Kansas to Rollie and Hokey (McDaniel) Lagasse.

Ronnie was a 1978 graduate of Concordia High School.&nbsp;

Ronnie was an auctioneer and farmer in the Cloud County community for many years.

Ronnie enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ronnie never knew a stranger and was always quick to lend a helping hand to those in time of need.

Ronnie is survived by his two daughters, Genae and Aliss Lagasse, Topeka, KS.; Aunt, Janet Johnson, Concordia, KS.; Aunt, Linda Nobert (Larry), Ames, KS.; Uncle, Michael “Mogie” McDaniel, Topeka, KS.; Uncle, Mel Nutter, Alameda, CA.

Sue Hervey, 81, of McPherson, Kansas passed away November 5, 2025, at McPherson Health and Rehab following complications with leukemia and kidney failure.

Sue was born Sondra Sue Wilson in Topeka, KS on March 1, 1944, to Earl M. and Ella M. Wilson, the youngest of three children.&nbsp; She attended Highland Park Elementary, Jr. High, and graduated from Highland Park High School.&nbsp; On December 14, 1963, she married Dan Hervey at the Highland Park United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Their only child, Sheila Rae Hervey, was born in 1967.

Following marriage, Sue lived in Oakland, CA and Charleston, SC with Dan while he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.&nbsp; She was a bookkeeper most of her life.&nbsp; She was employed at the Kansas Inspection Bureau and later a medical group while living in Topeka.&nbsp; She worked at TG&amp;Y in Manhattan as a cashier/bookkeeper while Dan attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; While living in Hutchinson, she was a bookkeeper for Atkinson Construction Company and did just about every job you can do in a restaurant her brother-in-law owned for a year.&nbsp; After moving to McPherson in 1978, she was employed by Stanley’s Fashions; Keith Mines, Accounting; and retired from Precision Industries in 2010 as a secretary/bookkeeper.

Sue was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.&nbsp; She was a room mother and member of the PTO at North Reno Elementary.&nbsp; She never missed her daughter’s events from elementary through college. She drove the McPherson High School Debate and Forensic teams all over Kansas in her Buick 9 passenger station wagon and sometimes required a change of topics if the students got too vocal. She continued the tradition, supporting her grandchildren at as many of their school events, concerts, recitals, and performances as she could attend.

Sue was a person of strong Christian faith attending Methodist and Christian churches all her life.&nbsp; She served as Treasurer for the evening Christian Women’s Club, belonged to the Noon Kiwanis Club for over 20 years until it disbanded, an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a Charter member of the Legion Riders in McPherson.&nbsp; Following retirement, she volunteered more than 30 hours per week at Save ‘n Share until a ruptured cranial aneurysm sidelined her in October 2023.

Sue is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dan; daughter Sheila (Dr. Brian) Billings of McPherson, KS; grandchildren Anastasia Billings and Xavier Billings of McPherson KS; brother-in-law Don (Lea Ann) Hervey of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law, Elain Ellenwood of Papillion, NE; Dan’s Little Brother Michael (Debbie) Jakabosky of Little River, KS; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Marjorie Walker and Hazel Morris.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, November 10, 2025, at Countryside Covenant Church.&nbsp; The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 12, at Countryside Covenant Church with burial following at McPherson Cemetery.

Sue Hervey

Betty Jean (Nelson) Isaacson, 97, left this world, November 3, 2025, in the company of five generations. (daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and great-great grandson, among others.) She was born at the family farm on October 17, 1928, to Clarence Nelson and Elva (Frost) Nelson. Unfortunately her mother died nine days later and as an infant and toddler, she was shuffled to various relatives occasionally while her father was busy keeping the farm going. Eventually, she was taken in by her maternal grandmother for a few years. Clarence would visit her every chance when he had some spare time, usually on Sundays. When she was about eight years old, Clarence married Elva's younger sister Selma Frost. Selma had been helping raise Betty and knew Clarence and also knew Betty needed a permanent mother. The love and bond Betty had with Selma remained unbreakable for the years that followed.

Betty married Melvin Robert Isaacson on February 9, 1947, and they shared 52 years together. Their marriage was honored with their three children; daughter Carol Ann, and sons, Vaughn Lee and Stanley Alan. She was the prototypical farmer's wife. Caring and providing for her family as well as helping in the fields when needed. She was never afraid of hard work and was an accomplished seamstress. She had a flair for home decorating and household handyman chores as well. She even built a "false" fireplace/mantle for the living room and reupholstered furniture "to make it last". Betty loved her Church and music, singing in the choir and an occasional solo performance. Self-taught for the most part, she enjoyed playing hymns on her piano and organ. It served as her own private communion with her Lord. Through it all, she remained humble and unpretentious. But when one of her brood was "wronged" the "mother's wrath" was something to experience!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, her parents, her sister, Lola, daughter-in-law, Mary Kathryn Isaacson, and great granddaughter, Lucia Larson

She is survived by Carol (Wayne) Keeler, Vaughn Isaacson, Stan (Cyndi); 11 grandchildren, Eric (Shannon) Keeler, Dawn Seymour, Jason (Melissa) Isaacson, Ryan (Amy) Isaacson, Kristine (Heath) Larson, Josh (Kayla) Isaacson, Aaron (Tessa) Isaacson, Derek (Christy) Isaacson, Ian Isaacson, Ivory (Matt) Bare, and Evan (Lauren) Isaacson; 34 great-grandchildren, Austen Keeler, Brenna (Derek) Rosenberg, Paige (Willie) Ball, Payton (Bryce) Miller, Bree Isaacson, Caden Isaacson, Kylie Isaacson, Brogan Isaacson , Easton Isaacson , Cora Isaacson, Ella Isaacson, Mae Isaacson, Melvin Isaacson, Andrew Larson, Mary Larson, Emil Larson, Kristoff Larson, Savannah Zink, Ariana Isaacson, Callan Isaacson , Carys Isaacson, Jeb Moore, Kenzie Isaacson, Haylie Isaacson, Camden Isaacson , Everly Isaacson, Riley Bare, Audrey Bare, Lincoln Isaacson , Austin Isaacson, Reid Isaacson , Bristol Isaacson, Everertt Isaacson, Dean Isaacson; and 32 great-great grandchildren, Liam Ball and Hudson Miller. Though Betty had always been a good, smart, and quick learner, with a sly and keen wit, throughout school and her extended life, she did have three "F"s to live with and by ... Faith, Family, and Farm!

The family holds in their hearts the hope that Betty may, at last, be united with the mother she never got to know. 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will be in the Salemsborg Lutheran Church Cemetery, Salemsborg, KS. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday November 6, 2025, at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 6 pm that evening.

Betty Jean (Nelson) Isaacson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of&nbsp;Gregory Steven Kasper, age 68, on November 3, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on July 29, 1957, in Salina, Kansas, Gregory was the beloved son of Esther and Wallace "Wally" Kasper. He was a cherished brother, devoted father, and proud grandfather.

Greg grew up in Kansas, where he began his lifelong career at Dillon's in1973 at the age of sixteen and later became the general store manager for many Dillon’s locations. His dedication and hard work led him to a successful career that spanned many years until his well-deserved retirement. Even after retirement, Greg took on a part-time role as a security guard with Spirit Airlines.

On October 22, 1988, Greg married Sheri Nelson, and together they welcomed two beautiful children, Norman and Emma. The joys of fatherhood brought immense happiness to Greg’s life, and he relished every moment spent with his children.&nbsp;

Greg enjoyed golfing and hunting, often spending most of his free time outdoors. He was also a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, sharing memorable moments with friends and family every season.

He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn "Jacque" Kasper of Tucson, Arizona; his children, Norman Kasper of Abilene, Kansas (spouse Alyssa), and Emma Kasper of Salina, Kansas; and his beloved grandchildren, Maura Newton, Aubree Kasper, and Charlotte Kasper.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Wally Kasper; and brother, Michael "Mike" Kasper, whose memory lived on in the hearts of those who knew them.

A funeral service will be held at Ryan Mortuary on November 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Greg's life and legacy.&nbsp; There will be a private family burial at a later time.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the hospital staff at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita for the compassionate care they provided to Greg in the last weeks of his life.&nbsp;

White in 1972 in Indianapolis, IN.Jim grew up in Salina, Santa Ana, CA, Tulsa, OK, Lubbock, TX, Topeka, KS and then back to Salina where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School.&nbsp; He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then earned a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in business from Fort Hays State University.He was a health care administration senior executive and CEO and health insurance CEO.&nbsp; He co-founded, managed and served on the boards of several health and technology related organizations and companies.&nbsp; During his career, he and his family lived in Indianapolis, IN, Topeka, KS, and Lincoln, NE before he and his wife retired to Salina in 2010 to be near family.He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved music, wrote several songs and played several musical instruments, including saxophone for numerous bands in his younger days.&nbsp; He enjoyed supporting the Jayhawks, Wildcats, Chiefs and Royals, and the challenge of playing golf.&nbsp; He enjoyed reading – especially historical biographies.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his sister Janette Gilchrist and BINL Frank Gilchrist.&nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons: Robert (Kim), and Scott (Kjersten Feyerherm); two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He is also survived by his nephew, Lance Gilchrist (Alison); niece, Carrie Gilchrist (Nils-Petter Ankarblom); step-mother, Arlene Sias-Agin; step-brother, Pete Sias (Ruby), and step-sister Kathleen Kelly.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.Cards and condolences may be sent to the family in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th&nbsp;St., Salina, KS 67401.Obituary Reading PoemBy Jim AginObituary readingis a daily “to do.”Will you read about me?Or will I read about you?
