Rex G. Cooper died peacefully at home on March 12, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born on April 21, 1947 to Arthur (Mex) and Nelda Cooper. He was raised in Hoxie, graduating from Sheridan County High School in 1965.

Rex received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Fort Hays State University. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star.

He married Lynn Pratt in Hoxie on December 29, 1973. They were married 52 years.

Rex was a devoted teacher and coach for 36 years. He began his career in Smith Center in 1973 where he taught high school social studies and established the school’s first wrestling program. After six years he accepted a teaching and wrestling coaching position at Southeast of Saline, Gypsum, in 1979. He was proud to be part of the coaching staff for SES’s two state wrestling championships in 1985 and 1986. He touched the lives of countless students and athletes and was proud of his time in the classroom and on the mat.

Rex was especially proud of his two children and six grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally, making several trips to Europe and Hawaii as well as his annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas with family members. He enjoyed golfing, working in his yard and reading and he never grew tired of learning. He also carried on his father’s tradition of making the best eggnog in town, delivering the Christmas treat to countless friends.

Rex is survived by his wife Lynn of the home, daughter Sarah Shelby and husband Jimmy of Salina, son Evan Cooper and fiancé Jenny Nyberg of Lawrence and six grandchildren: Kennedy and Addison Gottschalk, Clayton and Luke Shelby, and Avery and Molly Cooper. He is also survived by two brothers, Mex and Kem Cooper, and a sister Cindy New.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his students, his love of family, and the many lives he influenced through teaching and coaching.

Memorials can be made to the Southeast of Saline Education Foundation, Gypsum, KS.

A private inurnment will be on March 18, 2026, at All Saint Cemetery, Salina KS.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dorothy “Eileen” Budnick was born on September 4, 1938, in Albion, Pennsylvania, to Anna Mae Olear and John Thomas Rizner. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 8, 2026, in Salina, Kansas, after several years of medical challenges.

Eileen graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon, in 1956 and attended Seattle Pacific University for one year. She married Duane King Budnick on October 28, 1961, in Seattle, Washington. The couple began their family in Seattle before moving to Portland in 1964, where Eileen continued raising their children while working part‑time as a secretary and real estate manager. She was an active and devoted member of Lents Evangelical Church.

Eileen later lived in Central Oregon and eventually settled in Salem, Oregon, where she spent 37 years. Her lifelong love of flowers and gardening led her to active involvement in local garden and fuchsia clubs, where she found joy, friendship, and community.

Eileen is survived by her sons, Daniel K. Budnick and partner Susan Lentsch of Portland, Oregon, and Darr C. Budnick and wife Nancy of Salina, Kansas; her daughter, Delana S. Kiossovski and husband Val of Mountlake Terrace, Washington; and her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Rachel Kiossovski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane K. Budnick; her sisters, Shirley Lawson, and Gladys Eggiman; her son, Derek A. Budnick; and her grandson, Aaron C. Budnick.

Eileen was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be profoundly missed. A private family graveside service will be held in the near future at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

William Cleveland Oaks Jr., 70, of Salina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 4, 1955, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to William Cleveland Oaks Sr. and Erma Lee Oaks (Walton). Cleveland grew up in Salina, where he enjoyed hobbies such as baseball, basketball, football, and track.

Cleveland met his high school sweetheart, Wanda Ruth Oaks (Gray). They were married for more than 50 years. Cleveland served in the military. After, he started his career working at Raytheon and later began working at Rounds and Porter. He then returned to Beechcraft where he worked for a majority of his career.

He enjoyed spending time with his family watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and old westerns like Rifleman and Gunsmoke. He also enjoyed shooting the breeze and catching up on old times with his best friend, David Boswell. Cleveland also enjoyed spending his time testing his luck at the casino with family.

Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Oaks; his children, Deona Lewis, Micheal Loud, and William C. Oaks III (Tiana); his grandchildren, Tony Roseborough Jr., Zechariah Loud, and Romillie Loud; his great-grandchildren, Kinsley Roseborough and Kalani Roseborough; his siblings, Ingrid Dale (Brian), Rita Oaks, Lisa Oaks, Stanley Oaks, Sebastian Oaks, and Evan Oaks (Berta); and last surviving aunt, Julie Swaingan and many nephews, nieces, and beloved friends.

Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Oaks.

A day of celebration is scheduled on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Rosie’s on Iron, 125 E Iron Ave. Salina, KS 67401. Family will receive visitors from 2pm-3pm with celebration of life to follow after 3pm.&nbsp;

Omar William Hair, 68, passed away, surrounded by family, Thursday, March 5, 2026 in Salina, KS. He was born February 22, 1958 in Rapid City, SD to Lyle William and Patricia Ann (Chard) Hair. Omar was an electrical engineer for Philips Lighting and a US Air Force veteran. He married Carol Wheeler Caswell in Wichita, KS on February 8, 2008.

Omar is survived by his wife Carol of Lincoln; sons, Michael Hair (Michelle) of Lincoln, KS, David Hair (Ashley) of Golden Valley, MN, Bryan Caswell (Deidre) of Wichita, and Zachary Caswell (Holly) of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Lyle, Elisa, and Ian Hair, Vyolet, Eleanor, Freyja, Juniper, and Griffin Caswell; mother Patricia Hair of Lincoln; and siblings, Patricia Nelson, Kathy Nelson, and Karl Hair. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Larry J. and Karen K. (Cole) Malcom on July 30, 1970.&nbsp; She attended Colby High School and graduated in 1988.&nbsp; She received her certified nursing assistant and certified medical assistant from Wichita Area Vo Tech.&nbsp; She married Marvin Jones on May 20, 1995, in Wichita. &nbsp; Jennifer was currently working at Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation. &nbsp;She and Marvin were foster parents for many years.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; parents, Larry and Karen Malcom; daughters, Chasity Jones, and Olivia Jones; granddaughter, Zuri Jones; siblings, Laura Sears (Joseph) and Jason Malcom (Sarah); mother-in-law Katherine A Jones; and sister-in-law, Lucy J. Church-Jones.&nbsp;

Carla Sue (Blaske) Knight, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away at home on March 5, 2026.

She was born on September 22, 1938, the fourth child of Edward and Tillie (Bonin) Blaske, on a rural farm south of Waterville, Kansas. Later, the road was named “Down Yonder Road,” which she got such a kick out of.

Her parents moved many times during her early childhood. She attended school in Olsburg, KS; Cleburne, KS; Salina Country School west of Salina, KS; Blue Rapids Country School; Irving, KS; and then Salina, KS, in the eighth grade. She graduated from Salina High School in 1956.

Carla was very active in music starting in the first grade. She had the lead in&nbsp;Trial by Jury&nbsp;during her sophomore year, which she was very proud of. She also belonged to the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church during high school. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Carla worked at the Strand Theatre during the summers, and after graduating she worked at Air Conditioning Supply.

On October 27, 1957, Carla married Rene H. “Skip” Knight. She became the mother of four sons and was a full-time homemaker for thirty years. During her time as a homemaker, she was also a room mother many times at Grace E. Stewart Elementary School and a Cub Scout den mother for her sons.

After her sons were grown, she worked as a sales consultant at Vernon Jewelers for 20 years, until her heart operation in 2004. She was also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1997. After her operation, she returned to being a full-time homemaker, which was her greatest joy.

She loved gardening, sewing, canning, and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Blaske and Matilda “Tillie” (Bonin) Blaske; her in-laws, Adda Knight and Olin Knight along with his second wife Oleta Knight; her son, Bradley Knight; her sisters, Donna (Blaske) Fritzson and brother in law Harold Fritzson and Phyllis (Blaske) Powell; and her brother-in-law, Ira Powell; her brothers, Veryl Blaske, Gene Blaske, and an infant baby brother.

She is survived by her husband, Rene “Skip” Knight; her sons, Ronald (René) Knight, Brian Knight, and Daniel (Lisa) Knight; her grandsons, Bradley (Aimee) Knight, Craig (Tricia) Knight, and Chase (Rylie) Knight; her granddaughter, Danielle (Zachary) Kinsey; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Knight, Liam Knight, Leonidas Knight, Lochlan Knight, Haven Knight, Elizabeth Knight, Brantley Knight, Tucker Knight, Caden Kinsey, Macie Kinsey, and Jace Kinsey; aunt, Phyllis (Bonin) Blaske; and sister- in- laws, Margie Blaske and Linda (Knight) Shadel.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S 9th St, Salina, KS. A luncheon will follow the service.

Burial will follow the luncheon at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E Crawford St, Salina, KS.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina Animal Shelter, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of Carla.

 </figure>Carla Sue (Blaske) Knight, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away at home on March 5, 2026.She was born on September 22, 1938, the fourth child of Edward and Tillie (Bonin) Blaske, on a rural farm south of Waterville, Kansas. Later, the road was named “Down Yonder Road,” which she got such a kick out of.Her parents moved many times during her early childhood. She attended school in Olsburg, KS; Cleburne, KS; Salina Country School west of Salina, KS; Blue Rapids Country School; Irving, KS; and then Salina, KS, in the eighth grade. She graduated from Salina High School in 1956.Carla was very active in music starting in the first grade. She had the lead in&nbsp;Trial by Jury&nbsp;during her sophomore year, which she was very proud of. She also belonged to the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church during high school. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.Carla worked at the Strand Theatre during the summers, and after graduating she worked at Air Conditioning Supply.On October 27, 1957, Carla married Rene H. “Skip” Knight. She became the mother of four sons and was a full-time homemaker for thirty years. During her time as a homemaker, she was also a room mother many times at Grace E. Stewart Elementary School and a Cub Scout den mother for her sons.After her sons were grown, she worked as a sales consultant at Vernon Jewelers for 20 years, until her heart operation in 2004. She was also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1997. After her operation, she returned to being a full-time homemaker, which was her greatest joy.She loved gardening, sewing, canning, and helping others.She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Blaske and Matilda “Tillie” (Bonin) Blaske; her in-laws, Adda Knight and Olin Knight along with his second wife Oleta Knight; her son, Bradley Knight; her sisters, Donna (Blaske) Fritzson and brother in law Harold Fritzson and Phyllis (Blaske) Powell; and her brother-in-law, Ira Powell; her brothers, Veryl Blaske, Gene Blaske, and an infant baby brother.She is survived by her husband, Rene “Skip” Knight; her sons, Ronald (René) Knight, Brian Knight, and Daniel (Lisa) Knight; her grandsons, Bradley (Aimee) Knight, Craig (Tricia) Knight, and Chase (Rylie) Knight; her granddaughter, Danielle (Zachary) Kinsey; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Knight, Liam Knight, Leonidas Knight, Lochlan Knight, Haven Knight, Elizabeth Knight, Brantley Knight, Tucker Knight, Caden Kinsey, Macie Kinsey, and Jace Kinsey; aunt, Phyllis (Bonin) Blaske; and sister- in- laws, Margie Blaske and Linda (Knight) Shadel.A memorial service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S 9th St, Salina, KS. William Austin “Bill” Murphy, 84, of Waldo, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Bill was born May 6, 1941 in Hays, Kansas. He was one of five children born to L. Earl and E. Bernadine (Fiensy) Murphy. He grew up in the Covert, Kansas area and graduated from Waldo High School in the Class of 59.

Bill met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to C. Marlene Day on October 4, 1959 in Waldo. This union was blessed with three children; Debbie, Rhonda and Brad. They made their home in Salina, Kansas for a short time before moving to Covert. Then a few years later, they moved out into the country near Waldo. Then in 2022 they moved into Waldo.

Bill was a Farmer/Rancher his entire life and sold seed products for over ten years. He also was very active as a school bus driver for the local schools for many years, before retiring in 2019. When they lived in Salina, he worked at a local service station. He was a member and trustee of the Waldo United Methodist Church. He served on the High Plains Farm Credit Board for 12 years, and did data collection for the National Weather Services in Hastings, Nebraska for over 50 years. Bill was a life member of the Waldo/Paradise Lions Club, he served on the Victor Township Board, was a Boy Scout Leader when his son was in Boy Scouts.

Bill had a deep love for sports and rarely missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and KU basketball. He especially enjoyed supporting the Natoma Tigers, taking great pride in watching his children and grandchildren play. Farming and ranching were more than just work to Bill—they were a way of life, and some of his most cherished moments were spent working alongside his kids and grandkids.

Bill was known for the way he supported his friends and family and for the joy he brought to those around him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for storytelling. Many will remember the laughter shared while listening to his stories about hunting coyotes, deer, and elk, and the way he could always bring a smile to a room. His love for family, the land, and the people in his life will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bill’s surviving family include his wife of 66 years, Marlene of the home; daughters, Debbie Murphy of Natoma, Kansas and Rhonda Murphy of Waldo, Kansas; son, Brad Murphy (Jenjer) of Waldo, Kansas; sisters, Janice Lund of Waldo, Kansas and Sandy Boldridge (Leon) of New River, Arizona; five grandchildren, Jodi Wayland (Scott), Phillip Murphy (Taylor), Austin Murphy, Jacob Murphy and MaKayla Murphy; and four great grandchildren, Waylon Murphy, Wryatt Murphy, Wiley Murphy and Jemma Wayland.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Murphy; and sister, Bee Hawley.

Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Waldo United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, March 9, 2026 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. William Austin Murphy

Vida Fern “Vi” Anderson, 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Vi was born on April 9, 1926, in Morrowville, Kansas, to Robert Brown Long and Emelia M. Stettnisch Long. She carried with her the strong values of faith, hard work, and independence that defined much of her life.

On December 27, 1945, she married the love of her life, Arvid “Andy” Anderson. Together they built a life grounded in dedication to their family, their business, and their community. Soon after, they welcomed their daughter, Renee Lynn Muller, who was the joy of their lives.&nbsp;

In 1951, Vi and Andy opened Anderson’s Leather Shop, a well-known downtown business that they faithfully operated together for more than 58 years.

Vi played an integral role in the success of the store. She handled the advertising for the business on both television and radio, managed&nbsp;the buying, and took great pride in designing the store’s window displays, a creative outlet she truly enjoyed.&nbsp;She was also known for her skill in shaping and steaming cowboy hats to a perfect fit. Customers appreciated the care she took in helping them find exactly what they needed, and many returned year after year because of the personal attention and service she provided.

Through the shop, Vi and Andy became deeply connected to the community and were active supporters of local events, including area rodeos and church activities.

Vi was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Known for her strong work ethic and attention to detail, Vi poured her energy into both the business she helped build and the home she cared for with pride. After long days at the shop, she still made time to create a welcoming home for family and friends. Sundays often meant coffee ready and a fresh pie or cake on hand for whoever might stop by.

Vi also had a musical side and could play both the organ and the accordion, talents she occasionally shared at home with family.

Later in life, she found great joy tending to her garden and caring for the koi fish pond at the cattle ranch she and Andy loved.

Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid “Andy” Anderson; her parents, Robert B. Long and Emelia M. Stettnisch Long; and her siblings, Val, Loretta, Dorothy, Perce, Lorna, Laverne, Ivan, and Melvin.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Lynn Muller (Uwe); her brother, Robert B. Long; her grandchildren, Ward Markley, Wade Markley (Jennifer), Rommy Wehle, and Tali Kulbeda (Michael); her ten great-grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Taylor, Averie, Brooklynn, Samara, Bennett, Karl, Jacob, and Lincoln; and one great-great-grandson, Daniel, along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

A viewing will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, from 5-8 p.m., and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, both at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. &nbsp;Burial will follow at the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Morganville, Kansas, at 2:30 p.m.

Vi’s long life reflected dedication to family, faith, and community. Just weeks away from what would have been her 100th birthday, her nearly century-long life stands as a testament to resilience, hard work, and the deep love she shared with those around her. She will be remembered for her strength, her independence, and the legacy she leaves with those who knew and loved her.

Janice Adamson, 84, of Salina, KS passed away March 4, 2026 at her home.

Janice was born May 9,1941 at the Ellsworth Veterans Hospital&nbsp;in Ellsworth, KS to Genevieve E. and Robert S. Livingston. She spent her first 7 years living on&nbsp;their family farm before moving to Geneseo at the age of 8. In high school she enjoyed playing in band and sang in various singing groups.

Janice graduated from Geneseo High School in 1959 and in June of that year, moved to Salina to attend Brown Mackie School of Business graduating in 1960.&nbsp;

In November of 1961, Janice married her first husband and had two children.&nbsp; After that marriage&nbsp;ended, she became a single mother&nbsp;for 4 years. She then met Lonnie V. Adamson on a blind date in 1971. Lonnie lived in Texas and Janice in Lyons, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;After&nbsp;visits, letters and many phone calls, they were married&nbsp;

September 23, 1971 at the Geneseo Methodist church.&nbsp;

The family moved to Texas&nbsp;after&nbsp;the wedding in a station wagon packed so tight that&nbsp;an Electrolux&nbsp;vacuum&nbsp;hose was rigged from front to back for communication purposes. It was a sight. The Honeymoon consisted of a one bedroom apartment and 6 kids between them.

In July 1972, they moved to Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

She spent the first years back in Salina dedicated to raising the kids.&nbsp; When they got older, she found her dream job at School Specialty Supply, later known as

Superior School and Office.&nbsp;During those years, she made many friends who are cherished to&nbsp;this&nbsp;day.&nbsp;Janice worked there for 24 years, retiring in 2008.&nbsp;

She and her husband enjoyed traveling with friends and family throughout the United States including&nbsp;Alaska and Hawaii and to many foreign countries.

They both loved taking their two granddaughters on many of their adventures as they both treasured their roles as grandparents.&nbsp;

She was preceded&nbsp;in death by her parents, and more recently her&nbsp;husband, Lonnie V. on September&nbsp;9, 2025.

She is survived by her brother Keith Livingston of Olathe, brother-in-law Gary (Connie) Adamson of Three Rivers, Michigan, sister-in-law Debi (Keith) Werth of Gypsum,&nbsp;two sons, Robert Adamson of Salina, and Terry (Dawn) Adamson, four daughters, Cindy Johnson of Ft. Worth,Texas, Brenda Adamson (Tye Baker) of Salina, Anita (TJ) Crabill of Granbury, Texas, Linda (Vernon) Smith of Watauga, Texas. grandchildren, Brittanie (Matthew) Sinisgalli of Lawrence, Kansas, Megan Adamson of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren that&nbsp;reside in Texas and their adopted family in&nbsp;

Germany, Kenneth Stabenow, his wife Lisa and their three children, Connor, Ellie and Ruby.

A&nbsp;no mass&nbsp;Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Ln, Salina, KS. Visitation will be from&nbsp;

Janice Adamson

Nancy Alice Burns Bonner died peacefully, surrounded by family, on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Hallmark Nursing Center in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday. &nbsp;

Nancy was born in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1927, to John Henry Moses and Charlotte Alice Foley.

She was graced with two, long and meaningful marriages. &nbsp;She was married to Kenneth Morris Burns on March 25, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and they were married until his death in January of 1987. &nbsp;She then later married Douglas Gray Bonner of Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 7, 1997, until his death in July of 2018. &nbsp;

Nancy had a lively and passionate mind. &nbsp;After completing high school in Jena, Louisiana, she went to business school in Dallas, Texas. &nbsp;After marrying Kenneth, she took a break from formal education to pour herself into having a family and making a home. &nbsp;She had a deep love and commitment for her God and for her Church. &nbsp;She and Kenneth helped start Calvary Baptist Church and then were founding members of Bel-Air Southern Baptist Church – both in Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;For forty-two years she served in various roles at these churches. &nbsp;She was the church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and Youth Choir Director. &nbsp;Simultaneously, she taught piano out of the home, passing on her passion for music, and maybe mixing in a little religious instruction, to hundreds of students. In her fifties, she returned to school to pursue her degree in Music Education from Kansas Wesleyan University. &nbsp;Nancy moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in late 1987, and soon found employment as the Music Teacher at Holy Rosary School. &nbsp;She also jumped into choir membership and Sunday School teaching at Highland Baptist Church, and then later, at First Baptist Church of Shreveport.

Nancy leaned into big dreams and was hardly ever intimidated by a challenge. &nbsp;She was a poet, a songwriter, a playwright, and producer. Her great loves were contagious, and if you got too close, you were going to get drawn in.

Nancy took her greatest pride in her family and was a tenacious includer and protector of each member. She is survived by a sister, Johnette Abigail Evans [Bill Evans], and a brother, Don Michael Moses [Janet Moses]. &nbsp;She is survived by stepchildren, Bonnie Kauffman [Richard Kauffman], Anne Jones, and Susan Aldredge [Jeff Aldredge]. &nbsp;And, she is survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great - grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.

 </figure>Nancy Alice Burns Bonner died peacefully, surrounded by family, on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Hallmark Nursing Center in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday. &nbsp;Nancy was born in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1927, to John Henry Moses and Charlotte Alice Foley.She was graced with two, long and meaningful marriages. &nbsp;She was married to Kenneth Morris Burns on March 25, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and they were married until his death in January of 1987. &nbsp;She then later married Douglas Gray Bonner of Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 7, 1997, until his death in July of 2018. &nbsp;Nancy had a lively and passionate mind. &nbsp;After completing high school in Jena, Louisiana, she went to business school in Dallas, Texas. &nbsp;After marrying Kenneth, she took a break from formal education to pour herself into having a family and making a home. &nbsp;She had a deep love and commitment for her God and for her Church. &nbsp;She and Kenneth helped start Calvary Baptist Church and then were founding members of Bel-Air Southern Baptist Church – both in Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;For forty-two years she served in various roles at these churches. &nbsp;She was the church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and Youth Choir Director. &nbsp;Simultaneously, she taught piano out of the home, passing on her passion for music, and maybe mixing in a little religious instruction, to hundreds of students. In her fifties, she returned to school to pursue her degree in Music Education from Kansas Wesleyan University. &nbsp;Nancy moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in late 1987, and soon found employment as the Music Teacher at Holy Rosary School. &nbsp;She also jumped into choir membership and Sunday School teaching at Highland Baptist Church, and then later, at First Baptist Church of Shreveport.Nancy leaned into big dreams and was hardly ever intimidated by a challenge. &nbsp;She was a poet, a songwriter, a playwright, and producer. Her great loves were contagious, and if you got too close, you were going to get drawn in.Nancy took her greatest pride in her family and was a tenacious includer and protector of each member. Barbara "Barb" Jean Kersey, 76, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Barb was born in Abilene, Kansas on June 16, 1949, to Melba Opal (Rassette) and Marion Todd.

In her free time, Barb loved camping, reading, and playing pool league with her good friends. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Survivors include two daughters: Misty Affholder, of Salina, Kansas. Allison Mauch, of Bennington, Kansas, and Chan, her bonus daughter; six grandchildren: Bodey Burr, Cooper Affholder, Jake Affholder, Luke Affholder, Coyt Mauch, Kenna Mauch; and nieces, Monica and Amy.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Patty Martin, and Madeline Delp.

Barb's wishes were to have an outside gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, March 13th at Misty's home in Salina, Kansas.

Anne Marie Branda, 75, of Salina, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. &nbsp;She was born in Salina, on September 30, 1950, to Catherine A. (Hafner) and Chet A. Henry Jr. &nbsp; Anne worked for the Sheriff’s Department in surrounding counties for 21 over years and was one of two female Sheriffs in the State of Kansas when she was elected as the Lincoln County Sheriff from 1992-1996. &nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Sweezer and Douglas Sweezer (Jackie Orona-Sweezer); grandchildren, Megan McMullen (Michael), Zach Gonner, and Zayne Gonner; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Maddie, and Mia; great-great grandchild, Jasper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Kristie Gonner.

Joe A. Bowman, 72, of Salina, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at his home on Kanopolis Lake.&nbsp; He was born in Salina to Virgil and Dorothy (Sprague) Bowman on June 3, 1953.

Joe grew up in Salina and married Barbara Anderson on March 3, 1973.&nbsp; He worked for Southwestern Bell then AT&amp;T for 38 years.&nbsp; Joe enjoyed everything outdoors especially days on the lake fishing, hunting upland game and waterfowl, playing softball and golf, searching for treasures with his metal detector and relaxing in South Padre Island.

As his family grew, Joe loved spending time with his children and then grandchildren, cheering them on during all their activities.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barb; children, Chris Bowman (Taylor), Lisa Engelman (Andrew), Lacey Huffman (Mike); 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Glenda Rittel; and brothers, Steve Bowman and Rodney Bowman.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Joe lives on, just at a different address.&nbsp; A celebration of life for family and friends will be held this summer.

Lou Ann was born on November 30, 1963, in Bellflower, California to Annie and Bill Renton. She was the youngest of seven children: Robert, Alice, Wesley, Kathy, Judy, and Ricky.

From and early age, Lou Ann was a free spirit – a true wild child with a love for music, the beach, and roller skating. In her younger years, she could often be found diving for change tossed by tourists along the shore. She lived boldly, laughed loudly, and embraced life fully.

Lou Ann became a mother at the age of 16, a role that would become her life’s greatest purpose. As her family grew, she longed for a safer place to raise her children and relocated with her family to Kansas. After moving, she earned her GED and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, building a meaning career in healthcare and caring for others the way she naturally did.

Lou Ann leaves behind a beautiful legacy of nine children: Dawn, Crystal, Shantel, Summer, Matthew, Misty, Journey, and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kaleb.

Some of her children’s most treasured memories include gathering in a circle each night to pray together before bed and filling their home with singing. She created a house full of love, faith, and music.

In her earlier years, Lou Ann loved crafting – making dream catchers, beading, scrapbooking, and writing. She took pride in her appearance, always dressing up and doing her makeup with care. In more recent years, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, fishing, and thrift shopping. She had a special gift for creating something beautiful out of nothing.

Lou Ann was the proud grandmother and great-grandmother of 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her babies. She never met a stranger and always had a compliment ready for anyone she encountered. Even when she had little, she would share all of it.

Lou Ann passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kaleb; her parents, Annie and Bill; her brothers, Robert and Ricky. She leaves to cherish her memory, her eight remaining children; one brother; three sisters; her longtime partner, Danny Stewart; and the many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 9th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Lou Ann Renton

Virginia (Schlagel) Laber, 94, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026 in Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Laber; her parents; and her 11 siblings.

She is survived by her children: Janice (Gary) Brown of Lee’s Summit, MO; Julie Ross of Cheney, KS; and David Laber of Independence, MO; as well as four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born April 6, 1931, in Longmont, Colorado, Virginia was the sixth of 12 children. She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1949, where she was active in cheerleading, student council (serving as president), choir, and was recognized in “Who’s Who in American High Schools.” She later trained in dental nursing in San Francisco and worked as a dental assistant for various dentists in Denver, CO and Salina, KS.

Faith and family were central to her life. She was active in churches in Colorado and Kansas, taught Sunday School for over 20 years, served in United Methodist Women leadership, participated in conference ministries, and was active in church choirs and bell choirs throughout her life.

A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina.&nbsp;

Virginia Laber

Frederick “Fred” Duane Schroth, 95, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was born on February 10, 1931 on a farm south of Concordia, KS to Fred J. and Margaret (Specht) Schroth. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1949 and while attending Kansas State University, met Joan C. Schroth of Kansas City, KS at a dance on a tennis court on campus. They were married on April 25, 1953. After serving in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict, Fred returned to Manhattan, KS and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1958.

Fred then began a 30-year career working primarily as a Territory Manager for John Deere. He and Joan raised four children, and during that time, he was transferred 16 times across several states. An ardent student of architecture, Joan designed and built many of the homes the family lived in.&nbsp; They shared a deep devotion to their family and their faith, and traveled to many historic sites during their 57 years together until Joan’s passing on February 23, 2011.

Not long after Joan passed away, Fred took a trip to Ireland sponsored by the local Catholic diocese where he met Margaret “Peg” Louise (Mohler) Hofer Kelly. They formed a deep and lasting friendship, and were married in April of 2012. They enjoyed many years of travel, laughter, volunteer work, concerts at the Salina Symphony, and precious time with family. Peg passed away on December 31, 2024.&nbsp;

Fred is survived by his and Joan’s children: Jon Schroth (Tracy), Vicki Doyle (Mark), Susan Herrington (Robert), and Michele Sherraden (Mark); grandchildren: Erica Doyle, Savanna Schroth, Michael Sherraden, Tarah Herrington, Travis Herrington, and Wendy Hackmann. He is also survived by Peg’s loving family, who were very special to him: stepchildren Dr. Carolyn Hofer Zimmerman (Mark) and Paul Hofer (Shannon), and step-grandchildren Michal Jensen (Ray), Philip Hofer (Brooke), Ryan Zimmerman, Nathan Zimmerman, and Lauren Zimmerman.&nbsp;

Fred was preceded in death by his two wives; his parents; his grandchild, Trent Herrington; and his siblings: Thelma Schroth, Maxine McGrath, William Schroth, Sr., Dorothy Hansen, and Betty Nelson.

Fred’s life was defined by his quiet strength, steadfast faith, and profound love for his family. A mass and celebration of life will be held March 21st at 10 am at the Presbyterian Manor, Salina.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. &nbsp;Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic charity or the Salina Presbyterian Manor Employee Christmas Fund in Fred and Peg’s memory.

After serving in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict, Fred returned to Manhattan, KS and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1958.Fred then began a 30-year career working primarily as a Territory Manager for John Deere. He and Joan raised four children, and during that time, he was transferred 16 times across several states. An ardent student of architecture, Joan designed and built many of the homes the family lived in.&nbsp; They shared a deep devotion to their family and their faith, and traveled to many historic sites during their 57 years together until Joan’s passing on February 23, 2011.Not long after Joan passed away, Fred took a trip to Ireland sponsored by the local Catholic diocese where he met Margaret “Peg” Louise (Mohler) Hofer Kelly. They formed a deep and lasting friendship, and were married in April of 2012. They enjoyed many years of travel, laughter, volunteer work, concerts at the Salina Symphony, and precious time with family. Peg passed away on December 31, 2024.&nbsp;Fred is survived by his and Joan’s children: Jon Schroth (Tracy), Vicki Doyle (Mark), Susan Herrington (Robert), and Michele Sherraden (Mark); grandchildren: Erica Doyle, Savanna Schroth, Michael Sherraden, Tarah Herrington, Travis Herrington, and Wendy Hackmann. He is also survived by Peg’s loving family, who were very special to him: stepchildren Dr. Carolyn Hofer Zimmerman (Mark) and Paul Hofer (Shannon), and step-grandchildren Michal Jensen (Ray), Philip Hofer (Brooke), Ryan Zimmerman, Nathan Zimmerman, and Lauren Zimmerman.&nbsp;Fred was preceded in death by his two wives; his parents; his grandchild, Trent Herrington; and his siblings: Thelma Schroth, Maxine McGrath, William Schroth, Sr., Dorothy Hansen, and Betty Nelson.Fred’s life was defined by his quiet strength, steadfast faith, and profound love for his family. Frederick Duane Schroth

William H. Wieland, 82, of Clay Center, Kansas, passed to the hereafter on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. The only child of Paul H. and M. Irene (Dunn) Wieland, he was born on September 1, 1943 at the Clay Center Municipal Hospital.

William attended rural elementary schools, Olive Hill and Fairview in Clay County. After graduating from Clay County Community High School in 1961, he went to Kansas State University and graduated with a BS in Secondary Ed/Math in 1965 and taught high school mathematics from 1965-1974 at Wathena, Kansas and from 1974-1997 at Solomon, Kansas, while earning an MS degree in 1977 taking evening classes in Salina and summer courses in Manhattan. After retiring from teaching, he continued to farm, as the third generation, the Weiland land east of Clay Center.

He formerly was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, rural Clay Center; a life member of KNEA and NEA Retired; and a life member of the Kansas State University Alumni Association. His favorite athletic teams were KSU and whoever KU played.

He was one of the first in the area to have a cellular phone in 1990, after his mom had to reside in a care home and his dad was alone on the farm. He had a great memory and relished conversation. He was preceded in death by his parents and there are no immediate family survivors.

Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Clay County, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or any specific memorial, anyone wishing to, may make a memory with their family or give to the collection plate of their choice.

William H. Wieland

Cathy Sue Green entered into eternal rest with Jesus on February 8, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1958, to Ronald Lee Green and Dona Sue Willett Green. Cathy attended Bartlett Grade School, Roosevelt Lincoln Junior High, and Salina Central High School, where she graduated in May, 1976. She was a cheerleader, Member and Captain of Salina Central High School Vet Squad, and chosen SCHS Homecoming Queen. She then attended the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, Kansas for four years, earning a BA Degree. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Cathy worked at Karmel Korn (Owned by her Great Uncle Keith and Great Aunt Ilo Oakley) for a time; was a buyer and seller for retail clothing stores: Stevensons and The Loft; and also worked for National Bank of America in Proof, Bookkeeping, &amp; Teller. She worked at the University Sport Shop, on Massachusetts St., while in Lawrence. After graduating from the University of Kansas, she moved west to California, with a few of her sorority sisters. She lived in Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach, California, for a few years. She loved the West Coast. She specialized in Restaurant General Management, while in California. A few included the Omelet Parlor, in Malibu; the California Pizza Kitchen, in Beverly Hills; and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, in Beverly Hills. She was also manager for the construction company that built the first Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Phoenix, Arizona. After a few years, Cathy returned to Kansas. Then she was in Kansas City, and was a Manager of Operations at Crown Center. She was also in Management, with other restaurants, while living in K C. Cathy also worked in Hotel Management and Advertising Sales.

Cathy was married to Mitch O’Leary, for a short time. They resided in Luray, Kansas.

Cathy dealt with breast cancer for many years. Recently she developed different, multiple, stage four cancers. We will miss her very much, however we are very grateful she is not suffering any longer.

Cathy loved life, her family, friends, and very special pets. God and her angels were very important to her. The 23rd Psalm was her most cherished Bible passage.

Cathy was preceded in death, by her parents: Ronald and Sue Green; Maternal grandparents: Melvin and Mamie Willett; Paternal grandparents: Raymond and Rita Green; her Aunt Joyce Green Pearson, Uncle Willie Hilton, and several beloved pets.

She is survived by her sisters: Holly (Mark) Bethe and Ronda Lee Green; her niece: Sara (Gordon) Hunnicutt; Nephews Chris Bethe and McCabe Green; her great nieces Riley and Molly Hunnicutt; great nephew Wyatt Hunnicutt; her Aunt Pat Hilton; Uncle Bruce Pearson and nine cousins &amp; their families.
