Marjorie “Marg” Joyce Edgell, 83, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Lindsborg Community Hospital.

Marg was born on October 13, 1942, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jacob V. and Betty (Mastre) Koehn. She held the special distinction of being the first-born granddaughter on both sides of her family.&nbsp; After her dad completed his CPS Service at the end of WWII, the family of four moved back to their hometown of Galva, KS where they were surrounded by a large and close-knit extended family of aunts, uncles, and grandparents who would deeply shape Marg’s life.

Marg was fortunate to spend meaningful time with her maternal grandfather, Albert “Grandpa” Mastre—a relationship she cherished. She loved to tell the story of sitting in the front seat of his car, listening to baseball games on the radio while sharing sardines straight from the can. Those moments, full of curiosity and connection, helped spark what many believe became her lifelong entrepreneurial spirit and love of adventure.

Just across the backyard lived her paternal grandparents, Ben and Katie Koehn. It was there that Marg developed her love for baking, often “helping” Grandma Katie roll out cinnamon rolls—an experience that would later come full circle in her own baking ventures. Marg’s strong work ethic took root early, as she grew up surrounded by family businesses in Galva. Grandpa Koehn operated The Ice House, where ice was sold and eggs were candled, while the adjoining Mastre business included a lunch counter, groceries, gas, and oil. These businesses later evolved into Galva Cash Service, run by her parents, Jake and Betty Koehn—another place where Marg absorbed the value of hard work, attention to detail, and service to others.

She attended Galva public schools. She later admitted that, on her way to school, she would secretly swap her thick brown stockings for white bobby socks, leaving the stockings under a bridge so she could take part in activities like track and cheerleading.

During her high school years, her family owned a dairy farm in Wisconsin which was operated by friends of the family. After a farming accident, Marg (at age 14) was sent to help with the cooking, cleaning, and laundry for the farm hands and family. She would joke about the “education” she received up there living with the dairy farm family and a few male teenagers.

On October 13, 1959—her 17th birthday—Marg married Galen Dwayne Jantz. Their life together was blessed with three daughters: Tawny, Ebanee (Ebby) and Misty. The young family moved to Denver, Colorado, where they lived for a brief time, welcomed Ebby into their lives, and then returned to Kansas.

Throughout her life, Marg embraced countless roles with resilience and heart. Her homemaking skills were second nature—she cooked, baked, cleaned, and even pitched in with Galen’s family custom harvesting business, proving there was little she couldn’t do. Later, following her heart, she packed up her two girls and returned to Colorado, carving out a new chapter. She landed a job at the Holiday Inn in Golden, then the westernmost hotel in the Denver—a place buzzing with excitement whenever bands came to play at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Marg’s position came with a unique perk: free tickets to numerous concerts. She never went alone; her girls were always by her side, sharing unforgettable nights under the Colorado sky, music weaving memories they would cherish forever.

Marg had a deep love for the Rocky Mountains, quaint mountain towns, and the beauty of nature—what she fondly called “God’s country.” She was an avid skier and took every opportunity to enjoy the mountains she loved so dearly. For many years she lived in Summit County, CO and loved to have friends and family visit from Kansas and show them all the sites.

In the early '90’s Marg returned to Kansas and transformed her daughters’ childhood home into The Cranberry House Bed &amp; Breakfast—McPherson’s very first B&amp;B. It was a dream that allowed her to pour her heart into hospitality, constantly perfecting her baking and creating a warm, welcoming space for every guest who walked through the door. She spent many hours in her flower garden making it the envy of the neighborhood.

Marg’s love for the mountains called her back to Colorado once again, where she took on the role of managing The Lodge at the historic El Rancho in Evergreen. Her passion for hospitality didn’t stop there—she also oversaw The Ashley House Bed &amp; Breakfast in Evergreen, creating warm and inviting spaces for her many guests.

Her next adventure led her to downtown Golden, Colorado, where she purchased an old coffee shop in the historic Armory Building and transformed it into The Thirteenth Street Bake Shop. There, she showcased Grandma Katie’s cinnamon rolls and created something even more special: a warm, homey atmosphere that made every guest feel as though they had stepped into Marg’s own kitchen. By her side through it all was her beloved Chow-Chow, Sydney (affectionately known as the big brown bear) who faithfully greeted every customer and became part of the shop’s charm.

An entrepreneur at heart, Marg was a baker, gardener, dog lover, and a detail-oriented, hardworking woman. She carried what her family fondly called the “Koehn trait”—being very particular—and often reminded others that&nbsp;“the difference is in the details.”&nbsp;After retiring in Colorado, Marg returned to McPherson to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent many years working at Stutzman’s Greenhouse.

Marg fiercely loved her family. She had an unconditional, generous heart and a true servant’s spirit, always welcoming others with open arms. She cherished babies, adored her dogs, loved a really great cup of coffee, and found joy in caring for others. Though not religious, Marg was deeply spiritual and felt closest to God in the mountains and in nature. She had an artistic eye with a flair for decorating and design and enjoyed painting, drawing, and writing. Known for her positive outlook, Marg chose to see the good in life—often through rose-colored glasses.

She had a natural ability to connect with anyone she met. Marg’s warmth, kindness, creativity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Marg enjoyed excellent health for most of her life. In 2015, she faced a difficult challenge when she was diagnosed with colon cancer—a battle she fought and overcame through surgery and chemotherapy. Later, she developed chronic COPD, a condition she bravely battled with unwavering strength until the very end.

Survivors include two daughters, Tawny (Yale) Hoffman of McPherson, KS and Misty Jantz (Mark Gatz) of McPherson, KS; a sister, Elizabeth “Beth” (Cecil) Worden of Galva, KS; granddaughters, Liz (Shane) Unruh, Maddy (Logan) Schrag, and Abby Jantz; great-grandchildren, Chace Wescott, Cora Unruh, Collyer Unruh, Creede Unruh, Calum Unruh, and Reese Schrag; brother-in-law, Norman Schmidt of Moundrige, KS; and many extended relatives and friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob &amp; Betty Koehn; sister, Karlene Schmidt; and infant daughter, Ebanee Lynn Jantz.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Lone Tree Cemetery, (758 23rd&nbsp;Ave., Galva) followed by a celebration of life &amp; luncheon at noon at The Yard (108 W. 2nd&nbsp;St., Galva).

In a poignant and meaningful coincidence, Marg passed away on December 30—the same date her beloved mother, Betty Koehn, had passed years earlier. To those who knew Marg and the deep bond she shared with her mother, the shared date feels like a quiet reflection of their enduring connection and of Marg’s gentle, intentional spirit.

Marg leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and love—a reminder that the difference is in the details, and that a life well lived is one that opens its door and heart to others. May she now rest where the mountains are endless, the air is fresh, and love surrounds her as fully as she gave it in this life, remembered always for her generous heart, creative spirit, and the quiet way she made the world warmer for everyone around her.

Bobbie “Bob” Lee Hodge was born on September 25, 1932, on the family farm near Phillipsburg, Kansas, to Charlie and Myra Belle (Yowell) Hodge.

The youngest of three children, Bob grew up in rural Kansas, where farm life taught him the value of hard work. He often recalled hauling water, tending animals, and working alongside his family before electricity ever reached the farm.

Bob attended school in Phillipsburg, graduating from Phillipsburg High School. He later worked in trucking and carpentry with his father and brothers. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He completed basic training at Parks Air Force Base in California and attended aircraft engine school in Amarillo, Texas. Bob served as a crew chief at O’Hare Field in Chicago during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1961.

After his service, Bob returned to Kansas to continue his work in construction. In 1965, he and his brothers, Warren and Willis, developed their first nursing home, Prairie Haven, in Kensington, Kansas. Their success led to additional facilities in Phillipsburg and Salina, reflecting Bob’s dedication to compassionate elder care.

Bob moved to Salina in 1986, where he served as administrator for Kenwood View Nursing Home until his retirement in 1994. He took great pride in his work and often said he truly loved the nursing home profession.

In 1992, Bob married Norma Dumler Feil, and they shared 33 years together. Bob and Norma enjoyed traveling in their RV with friends and spending winters in a warmer Texas climate. In later years, Bob was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a steady presence and a loving role model.

Bob treasured time with family and friends, his morning coffee with “the guys,” and watching sports. He was also particularly proud of his 40 years of involvement with the Isis Shriners, and he was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Bob passed away on December 31, 2025, in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his wife, Norma of Salina; children, Rhonda Anderson of Lindsborg, Rod Feil (Patricia) of Wichita, and Diana Looney (Joel) of Salina; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with visitation from 9-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Isis Shrine Travel Fund or the Immanuel Lutheran Church Foundation in Bob’s honor, in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Above all, Bob will be remembered for his work ethic, his deep devotion to family and his unwavering kindness.&nbsp; And to end in typical Bob fashion, “Take care.”

Pheng Rordsalee, 58, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on December 28, 2025. She was born on April 1, 1967, in Vientiane, Laos, to Bunmee and Lad (Pakhamma) Rordsalee.

Pheng was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her sons, Deth Rordsalee, Saengphet “Joey” Soulivong, Xaya Jonathan Soulivong, and Victor Phanthankeo; her daughter, Heather Rordsalee; and her son-in-law, Troy Mueller. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sandther Candi Phanthankeo, whom she carried in her heart always.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Angellina, Leonna, Lennox, Seth, Elyve, and Alex, who brought her immense joy. In addition, Pheng deeply loved her fur grandbabies—Remy, Sadie, Smokey, Koda, and Audi—who held a very special place in her heart.

She also leaves behind her siblings, the Phetasa, Pakhamma, and Rordsalee families.

A service honoring Pheng’s life will be held at the Buddhist Temple of Salina on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11 A.M., with the cremation continuing at Ryan Mortuary &amp; Crematory, Salina, at 2 P.M.

Pheng will be remembered for her love, strength, and the care she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.

On December 27, 1959, Deloris married her first love, Marc Bergez. They were immediately blessed with two children of Marc’s first marriage, Sherry &amp; Marc Steven. Soon after followed two girls, Jacqueline &amp; Rheta.

Four years after Marc’s death Deloris found love once again and on Feb 11, 1984, she married Raymond Pachta.

Deloris lived in Delphos, KS the majority of her 93 years and was a well-known Hair Stylist for 64 of those years. She was a woman of virtue. She was genuine &amp; honest to a fault. She loved her family and friends deeply. She faithfully followed Jesus and made sure to share her faith with you, from the salon chair, living room recliner, kitchen table or finally her room in the nursing home and usually while wearing her signature bright red lipstick.

Deloris was preceded in death by her brother, Jake; then her parents, Vernie and Vivian Gawith; husband Marc; siblings, Okla, Lawrence, Leroy, Mable Jane Johnson, and husband Raymond.

Deloris Ruth (Gawith) Bergez Pachta

Donald Galen Emerick, 99, of Hoxie, Kansas died December 30, 2025, at Amber Med Long Term Care in Hoxie.

Don was born August 28, 1926, on a farm near Hamburg, Illinois, to George Louis and Louise Marie (Heil) Emerick. In 1944, Don graduated from Griggsville High School, Griggsville, Illinois. World War II was raging and knowing he would be drafted, Don enlisted in the US Army and was sent to the island of Luzon in the Philippines where he became a driver for an amphibious truck (DUKW) company. When the war ended in 1945, he was assigned to the American Occupation Forces in Japan until December 1946.

In the spring of 1947, Don came to Kansas to work in the wheat harvest. In Quinter, Kansas he met Dolores Roberta Sanders and after a two-year courtship, they married September 19, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church, Park, Kansas. To their union were born four children: Diana Jane, David Lee, Darlene, and Douglas Shane.

After attending Stevens Automotive School in Kansas City, Missouri, Don began a career as an automotive mechanic. In 1963, Don opened his own business, Don’s Alinement, in Hoxie, which he owned and operated until 1989 when he sold his business to his son, Dave. In the 1970s, Don also started Emerick Motorhome Service.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ducks, geese, pheasants, elk, deer, mountain lions, turkey – he hunted them all! His successful raccoon hunting led to him being nicknamed “Coonie,” and his passion was Walleye fishing. Don continued hunting and fishing through his 97th year.

Don and Dolores traveled all over the United States and Mexico in their motorhome. From the Florida Keys to Niagra Falls to Disneyland in California, they enjoyed the RV life.

After Dolores passed away in 2015, Don enjoyed the companionship of a special friend, Myrna Prewett of Beloit, KS.

He entered the Amber Med Long Term Care in Hoxie, KS in September 2025, and resided there at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his parents; his brother Roger Emerick, and his sister Joyce Emerick Maffin.

Don is survived by his four children: Diana Emerick, Colby, KS; David (Joanne) Emerick, Hoxie, KS; Darlene Emerick, Bailey, CO, and Doug (Stacy) Emerick, Plainville, KS; and two grandchildren: Tanner Emerick, Mt. Hope, KS; Jasmine Emerick, Fort Collins, CO.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Hoxie, Kansas. Visitation will be held at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, January 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM will family receiving friends from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. The Vigil and Rosary Service will immediately follow Visitation at 7:00 P.M.

Clarice Marie Widen Carlgren Pruitt was born August 30, 1926 on a farm one mile north of Sibley School house, to Clarence and Cora (Hammer) Widen. She was the third of four children. 

She was the first girl born on her father’s side in four generations and was therefore named after her father. She attended Sibley school until high school where she attended Concordia High School. She graduated in 1944. She attended Emporia State Teacher’s College and taught at Sunny Side school in 1945. She taught at Highland School her second year of teaching in 1946. While teaching at Highland, she met Joe Carlgren and they were married January 22, 1946. They had two sons, Jerry and Don. Joe died of cancer in 1957 at the age of 35. Clarice then moved to Concordia where she worked at Bogart offices and Quartzite Co., as a secretary and bookkeeper.

March 22, 1959 she married Paul Pruitt of Barnard, Ks and they had two sons, Max and Mikel. They bought a farm five miles north of Miltonvale and farmed with livestock being their main objective. She loved her children and always tried to be an understanding mother, a protector and a positive influence for them.

In later years she had four daughter-in-law’s and one son-in-law. Then grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Each of them was special to her. She was cookie grandma to all. There were many others that called her mom and grandma as she loved kids.

She taught Sunday School for 53 years, helped with Bible School and held many offices in Christian Women’s Fellowship at the First Christian Church in Miltonvale, Ks. She was a Deaconess, President of Sulphur Springs cemetery for many years and also mowed the cemetery. She was a past member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She wrote an article for the Miltonvale Record for many years.

She was clerk for her husband's auctions and bookkeeper for N.F.O. hog buying stations at Concordia, Wamego, and others for 12 years. She was a helpmate to her husband never missing a chance to help with cattle, haying, and lots of mowing.

Clarice had three brothers who were always special to her, along with their wives, nieces and nephews. Summing up her life she was a caring, giving, and loving person.

Survivors include three sons, Don and wife Carla, Max and wife Deborah, Mikel and wife Michele. One daughter-in-law Karla and husband Wade. 11 grandchildren, Jason and Shane (Wendi) Carlgren, Alycia (Dane) Straight, Amanda (John) Tinner, Jessica (Ricardo) Moniz, Ashley (Jared) Smith, and Anne (Dakota) Beals, Crystal (Al) Paredes, Pamela Holechek, and Patricia Harris. 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Carlgren, daughter-in-law Anita Pruitt, parents, three brothers, and her husbands.

Visitation will be Friday January 2, 2026 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, KS. The family will receive friends on Saturday January 3, 2026 from 9:30am – 10:30am at the Christian Church in Miltonvale, KS.

Funeral service will be held Saturday January 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church 314 W 3rd St. Miltonvale, KS with Pastors Tom Hollis and Al Paredes officiating.

A burial will be immediately after at Sulphur Springs Cemetery 703 N 230th Rd Miltonvale, KS.

A lunch will follow at the Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

Clarice Pruitt

Doris Marilyn Svoboda passed away on December 21, 2025 at her home in Ellsworth, Kansas surrounded by her loving family.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on February 18, 1930 to Burt and Clara (Shoemaker) Walker in Ellsworth, Kansas.&nbsp; 

She attended Paradise Country School until 8th Grade and then attended Ellsworth High School.&nbsp; 

She married Alvin Svoboda on December 26, 1948.

Doris was a country girl at heart and had many good memories of riding her beloved horses and helping her father with farm chores.&nbsp; She retired as a cook from Ellsworth High School after 20 plus years.&nbsp; 

We will miss her wonderful meals and holiday treats!Left to mourn her passing are her daughters Wanda Nicholson (Mike) and Sheryl Svoboda; grandchildren Shawn Nicholson and Brandon Callahan (Hannah) and great-grandchildren Rylee Nicholson and Thomas and Maxine Callahan.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lois Walker and her husband Alvin.

Larry Lee Horting, 86, Bennington, died suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home. He was born December 25, 1939, in Tescott, to John Lee and Helen Horting.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Larry graduated from Tescott High School and attended Kansas University and Kansas Wesleyan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

He was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Nisbeth in Bennington on June 27, 1959. To this union were born two children, Carol Sue and William Lee.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Larry served in the Kansas National Guard. He was a horse lover, and, in this capacity, he was a co-founder of the Tescott Saddle Club, which he served as president and other offices. He also served as president, director, and other offices of the Eastern Kansas Horse Association. Larry was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Most of his working life was as a commercial electrician, but his passion was cattle and farming.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn on February 15, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Survivors are his children, Carol Sue Horting and William Horting; sister, Susan Wagner; three grandchildren, Michael (Crystal), Cody, and Devon (Felicia); and great-grandson, Forrest.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 2 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 3, at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be on Larry and Carolyn’s farm.

He was born December 25, 1939, in Tescott, to John Lee and Helen Horting.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Larry graduated from Tescott High School and attended Kansas University and Kansas Wesleyan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Carolyn M. Nisbeth in Bennington on June 27, 1959. To this union were born two children, Carol Sue and William Lee.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Larry served in the Kansas National Guard. He was a horse lover, and, in this capacity, he was a co-founder of the Tescott Saddle Club, which he served as president and other offices. He also served as president, director, and other offices of the Eastern Kansas Horse Association. Larry was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Most of his working life was as a commercial electrician, but his passion was cattle and farming.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn on February 15, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors are his children, Carol Sue Horting and William Horting; sister, Susan Wagner; three grandchildren, Michael (Crystal), Cody, and Devon (Felicia); and great-grandson, Forrest.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 2 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 3, at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be on Larry and Carolyn’s farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tescott United Methodist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Larry Lee Horting

Larry John Heinz passed away after a brief illness on December 29th, 2025 in McPherson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was 81 years old.

Larry was born on August 24th, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas to Milton and Sybil Heinz.&nbsp; He was one of three children.&nbsp; He was raised in Kinsley, Kansas and spent his childhood farming with his Grandfather, Dad and Uncle.&nbsp; He graduated from Saint Mary of the Plains college in Dodge City in 1966 and immediately following, joined the Air National Guard during the Vietnam war era.&nbsp; Larry and Ann (Twohig) had a whirlwind courtship and were married on November 5th, 1966.&nbsp; This marriage would stand the test of time for 59 years and had two children, Kathy and Dan.&nbsp;

Once his obligations to the Air National Guard were met, he tried his hand at a number of careers which included insurance adjusting, bookkeeping, trucking, and a motel owner and operator just to name a few.&nbsp; However, none of those things stuck as he had always wanted to farm.&nbsp; That dream came true for him in 1975 when he moved the family to Syracuse, Kansas and began farming.&nbsp; He embodied everything you imagine when you think of a farmer.&nbsp; He had a love for the land and made sure to leave it better than he found it.&nbsp; He loved the equipment and tilling the soil.&nbsp; He made sure his word was his bond and honesty and keeping his commitments was paramount.&nbsp; He was a good neighbor and was always thrilled when he had something they needed to borrow or if they needed an extra set of hands to get something done.&nbsp;

Larry was a consummate conversationalist.&nbsp; He loved to visit with family and friends and made lifelong friends wherever he went.&nbsp; He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his family and friends who also loved to reciprocate.&nbsp; He had a deep faith in God and never missed a holy day or weekend mass.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Sybil.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife Ann Heinz, sisters Julie Gleason and Mary Herrmann, daughter Kathy and her husband Rick Stein, son Dan and his wife Jenny (Gutsch) Heinz, grandchildren Jadan Wolfsbauer and her husband Cole, Colby Heinz, Mandi Heinz, Emma Stein, and Zachary Stein, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 1, 2026, with Rosary to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Kinsley.

Alyce Dianne Cairns passed away on December 28, 2025, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 9, 1938, in Concordia, Kansas, to her parents, Clara (Kline) and LeRoy Pearce (deceased.)Dianne met Hugh Cairns while attending Brown Mackie Business College.&nbsp;

 They were married on April 13, 1958, in Lincoln, Kansas.&nbsp; Dianne and Hugh made their home in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; 

Dianne worked for several companies throughout Salina primarily as an office assistant or purchasing secretary.&nbsp; Dianne was a member of the American Business Women’s Association in Salina and was named Woman of the Year in 1988.&nbsp; 

She also did volunteer work throughout the Salina region with the community theatre, for abused persons, and through the church.From marriage with Hugh, Dianne gave birth to two sons, Mark Cairns (Debbie Stivers, companion) and Barry Cairns (Joylene Savage, fiancée.)&nbsp; She supported her sons by attending many baseball games, basketball games, and school events.&nbsp; 

Dianne often gave encouraging words before, during, and after these events and all events her sons went through throughout their lives including the death of Mark’s beloved wife, Janet Cairns.

Dianne loved singing.&nbsp; She sang in the church choir and often recruited Hugh and her sons to join her.&nbsp; Singing always gave Dianne joy.

Survivors include Dianne’s husband and sons.&nbsp; Survivors also include her grandchildren and great-children.&nbsp; She was joyful when seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; 

Her grandchildren include Mary Slevin and husband Zach Slevin, Elisha Cairns, Grace Woody and husband Elliott Woody, and Melissa DeWindt and husband Douglas DeWindt.&nbsp; Her great-grandchildren include Harper DeWindt, Canaan DeWindt, Eden Dewindt, and Hudson Slevin.&nbsp; 

All of her cares in the world melted away when she saw or heard about her grandkids and great-grandkids.&nbsp; She also leaves behind many old friends and family as well as new friends she had made at Eaglecrest Independent Living.

Dianne joins not only her parents, but also her sister, Doris Ohnemiller and her brother, Jim Pearce in the Lord’s welcoming embrace in heaven.The family suggests that any financial contributions a person would like to make in Dianne’s honor be made to the charity of the person’s choice.

A visitation will take place on January 2, 2026, from noon until &nbsp;1 pm at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

Letha is survived by her mother, Shirley, two daughters, Nina Lyn (Tony), Patricia (Jonathan), 2 sons, Troy and Joseph, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her sister, Scotia.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her father, William Lawrence Sarten, a son, Shawn, brother, Dennis and her beloved man Randy Potts.

Letha Marie Sarten

Glenn Earl Kohr (97 years, 3 months) of Salina, KS, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.&nbsp; He is remembered for his military service, professional achievements, musical talents, community involvement, and dedication to family.

Glenn was born Sunday, September 23, 1928, in Orwin, PA, the son of Earl and Lillian (Sando) Kohr.&nbsp; He grew up in Lebanon, PA, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1946.&nbsp; Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1952.&nbsp; After his discharge, Glenn continued his education at Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

In September 1947 while stationed in Salina, KS Glenn met Eunice Pistora.&nbsp; After a brief three-month courtship, they were married on December 21, 1947.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children: Diana (Middleburg, FL), Karen (Hutchinson), and Larry (Wichita).

After graduating from Kansas Wesleyan, Glenn launched his professional journey in the business sector serving as Treasurer/Controller for three corporations … Morrison Grain Co., Inc. and Wyatt Manufacturing, Inc. both located in Salina and Gilmore-Tatge, Inc. in Clay Center.&nbsp; He later transitioned into higher education, taking on the role of Business Manager at Marymount College in Salina.&nbsp; In 1978, he joined the Management Team at School Specialty Supply, Inc. and served in various leadership roles until his retirement in 1995, at which time he held the title of Treasurer/Controller.

Glenn had a lifelong passion for music and loved sharing his talents with others. During his military service, he played trumpet in the band, a role that defined his time in uniform.&nbsp; After returning to civilian life and while working in a professional office, he continued to actively pursue music, joining the Salina Municipal Band and performing with the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; He was also a member of the dance band King’s Men, which played venues from Kansas City to Goodland.&nbsp; Over the years, Glenn contributed his talents to several ensembles, including the Isis Brass Band, Shrine Band, and Heartland of America Band.&nbsp; He further enriched the musical community by tutoring students at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Glenn enjoyed traveling, boating, and fishing.&nbsp; He was also an avid aviator, earning his instrument-rated private pilot license and spending many hours in the sky.

Glenn was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Salina since 1955, where he served on the Church Council and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for three years.&nbsp; His commitment to community extended beyond the church, as he shared his talents with various organizations.&nbsp; He was an active member of the International Rotary Club in both Clay Center and Salina.&nbsp; He served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; Glenn also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Endowment Fund of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.

Glenn was actively involved in the Salina Masonic Lodge #60.&nbsp; He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on December 1, 1995.&nbsp; He served in many of the Lodge’s offices, achieving the office of Worshipful Master of Salina Lodge #60 in 1963.

Throughout his distinguished Masonic career, Glenn served the Kansas Grand Lodge with dedication.&nbsp; Early on, he contributed as a member of both the Registration and Credential Committees, and in 1964, he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master.&nbsp; His leadership continued to be recognized, and in 1998, he was named Grand Senior Deacon of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas.&nbsp; His commitment to the fraternity resulted in his installation as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Kansas Grand Lodge, a role he held with distinction from 2002 to 2003.

Glenn was a distinguished member of several Masonic and affiliated organizations.&nbsp; He held memberships in both the Salina and Ellsworth York Rite Bodies and was a Life Member of the Valley of Salina Scottish Rite, where he has been honored as a 33 Degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honour (K.C.C.H.).&nbsp; He served as Potentate of ISIS Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) in Salina.&nbsp; Additionally, Glenn was a member of Harmony Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), where he served as Worthy Patron in 1981.&nbsp; His affiliations also included the Royal Order of Jesters, the Knights of Mecca, and the St. David Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.

Glenn is survived by his three children, Diana (Bruce) Gilpin, Karen (John) Troyer, and Larry (Carol) Kohr; seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Jennifer (Eddis) King, Stephanie Hillcher, Michelle (Scott) Hillard, Kyle (Suzette) Van Doren, Kimberly (James) Lott, Joshua (Kristin) Kohr, Jessica (Richard) Conkling; eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous friends, and special caregiver, Ashley Klaurens.

He was preceded in death by Eunice, his wife of 71 years; mother Lillian; father Earl and his wife Betty; brothers Jack and his wife Roney, and Roger; sister-in law Gwendolyn Schoshke and her husband Kenneth.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A celebration of Glenn’s life will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Salina) with Rev. Kim Frederking presiding.&nbsp; Prior to the church service, a family burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery (Salina) with Masonic and Military Honors ceremonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church and Kansas Honor Flight in care of Ryan Mortuary (Salina).

During his military service, he played trumpet in the band, a role that defined his time in uniform.&nbsp; After returning to civilian life and while working in a professional office, he continued to actively pursue music, joining the Salina Municipal Band and performing with the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; He was also a member of the dance band King’s Men, which played venues from Kansas City to Goodland.&nbsp; Over the years, Glenn contributed his talents to several ensembles, including the Isis Brass Band, Shrine Band, and Heartland of America Band.&nbsp; He further enriched the musical community by tutoring students at Kansas Wesleyan University.Glenn enjoyed traveling, boating, and fishing.&nbsp; He was also an avid aviator, earning his instrument-rated private pilot license and spending many hours in the sky.Glenn was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Salina since 1955, where he served on the Church Council and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for three years.&nbsp; His commitment to community extended beyond the church, as he shared his talents with various organizations.&nbsp; He was an active member of the International Rotary Club in both Clay Center and Salina.&nbsp; He served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; Glenn also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Endowment Fund of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.Glenn was actively involved in the Salina Masonic Lodge #60.&nbsp; He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on December 1, 1995.&nbsp; He served in many of the Lodge’s offices, achieving the office of Worshipful Master of Salina Lodge #60 in 1963.Throughout his distinguished Masonic career, Glenn served the Kansas Grand Lodge with dedication.&nbsp; Early on, he contributed as a member of both the Registration and Credential Committees, and in 1964, he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master.&nbsp; His leadership continued to be recognized, and in 1998, he was named Grand Senior Deacon of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas.&nbsp; His commitment to the fraternity resulted in his installation as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Kansas Grand Lodge, a role he held with distinction from 2002 to 2003.Glenn was a distinguished member of several Masonic and affiliated organizations.&nbsp; He held memberships in both the Salina and Ellsworth York Rite Bodies and was a Life Member of the Valley of Salina Scottish Rite, where he has been honored as a 33 Degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honour (K.C.C.H.).&nbsp; He served as Potentate of ISIS Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) in Salina.&nbsp; Additionally, Glenn was a member of Harmony Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), where he served as Worthy Patron in 1981.&nbsp; His affiliations also included the Royal Order of Jesters, the Knights of Mecca, and the St. David Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.Glenn is survived by his three children, Diana (Bruce) Gilpin, Karen (John) Troyer, and Larry (Carol) Kohr; seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Jennifer (Eddis) King, Stephanie Hillcher, Michelle (Scott) Hillard, Kyle (Suzette) Van Doren, Kimberly (James) Lott, Joshua (Kristin) Kohr, Jessica (Richard) Conkling; eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous friends, and special caregiver, Ashley Klaurens.He was preceded in death by Eunice, his wife of 71 years; mother Lillian; father Earl and his wife Betty; brothers Jack and his wife Roney, and Roger; sister-in law Gwendolyn Schoshke and her husband Kenneth.Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A celebration of Glenn’s life will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Salina) with Rev. Glenn Earl Kohr 

Gary Dean Barrick, a dedicated family man and esteemed veteran, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 79. Born on August 27, 1946, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Gary led a life filled with love, service, and camaraderie.

Having retired from the United States Army in 1985 as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2), Gary's military career was marked by four tours in Vietnam. He was proud to be a member of the elite skydiving team, the Golden Knights, and served as an Army Ranger before becoming a Green Beret. His contributions to his country were commendable, and he carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life.

After his military retirement, Gary transitioned to a career in civil service at Fort Riley, where he diligently worked for the next two decades before retiring in 2008. His commitment to both his career and his family remained unwavering.

Gary was known for hosting the entire family and countless friends for every holiday and celebrations large and small. His home was a gathering place, radiating warmth and hospitality. A loving family man, Gary was described as caring, giving, and strong-willed. Among his proudest accomplishments were his roles as a father and grandfather, as well as his significant contributions as President of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

His passions included hunting and fishing, and he never stopped cooking, consistently trying new ideas and recipes up to his final days. He was an active member of the Union Lodge #7 A.F. &amp; A.M., participated as a Shriner, and engaged with the Scottish Rite, reflecting his supportive spirit towards his community.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary A. (Berinda) Barrick of Salina, Kansas; his daughter, Diann (Jimmy) Heath of Salina, Kansas; his granddaughter, Ciara Barrick of Salina, Kansas; his brothers, Dennis Barrick and Michael Barrick; and his niece, Denise Vance (Barrick).

He joins in eternal rest his loving wife, Ingeborg Barrick; his parents, Dean and Effie Barrick; his sister, Shirley Mae Barrick; and his brother, George Barrick.

Visitation will be held on January 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home in

Junction City, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery the same day.

Jimmie Dean Scholes, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born January 24, 1958, to Loren and Kathryn Scholes, the youngest of ten children.

Jimmie served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including the First Gulf War, retiring in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents, and five siblings. He is survived by his son John (Kristina), grandchildren Haley, John Loren, and Clay Allen; daughter Jessica; siblings Ann, Neva, JD, and Tom; and his niece Karen, daughter of Tom, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Born September 24, 1989, in Salina, Kansas, Joshua was the beloved son of Sherri Ann (Murray) Krug. After completing school, he pursued his passion for cooking and worked as a cook in numerous restaurants, finding joy in serving others through his work.

Joshua was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and KU. He loved playing basketball, spending time at the park, and taking walks—especially with Karley. His warm spirit and love for life touched everyone around him.

Joshua is survived by his son, Quintin; two brothers, Jeffery Humphries (Meriam) and Jason Taylor; aunts, Kim Beran and Angela Cearley (Charles); his significant other, Karley Burris and her children, Quinlynn and Mateo; his mothers cat, Elvis; and many cousins who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherri, and grandparents, Barbara Moore and Robert Murray.

Cremation has been chosen, and no services are planned.

Letha spent most of her early life in Olivehurst, California. In her adulthood she loved and raised 5 children.
