Larry John Heinz passed away after a brief illness on December 29th, 2025 in McPherson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was 81 years old.

Larry was born on August 24th, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas to Milton and Sybil Heinz.&nbsp; He was one of three children.&nbsp; He was raised in Kinsley, Kansas and spent his childhood farming with his Grandfather, Dad and Uncle.&nbsp; He graduated from Saint Mary of the Plains college in Dodge City in 1966 and immediately following, joined the Air National Guard during the Vietnam war era.&nbsp; Larry and Ann (Twohig) had a whirlwind courtship and were married on November 5th, 1966.&nbsp; This marriage would stand the test of time for 59 years and had two children, Kathy and Dan.&nbsp;

Once his obligations to the Air National Guard were met, he tried his hand at a number of careers which included insurance adjusting, bookkeeping, trucking, and a motel owner and operator just to name a few.&nbsp; However, none of those things stuck as he had always wanted to farm.&nbsp; That dream came true for him in 1975 when he moved the family to Syracuse, Kansas and began farming.&nbsp; He embodied everything you imagine when you think of a farmer.&nbsp; He had a love for the land and made sure to leave it better than he found it.&nbsp; He loved the equipment and tilling the soil.&nbsp; He made sure his word was his bond and honesty and keeping his commitments was paramount.&nbsp; He was a good neighbor and was always thrilled when he had something they needed to borrow or if they needed an extra set of hands to get something done.&nbsp;

Larry was a consummate conversationalist.&nbsp; He loved to visit with family and friends and made lifelong friends wherever he went.&nbsp; He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his family and friends who also loved to reciprocate.&nbsp; He had a deep faith in God and never missed a holy day or weekend mass.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Sybil.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife Ann Heinz, sisters Julie Gleason and Mary Herrmann, daughter Kathy and her husband Rick Stein, son Dan and his wife Jenny (Gutsch) Heinz, grandchildren Jadan Wolfsbauer and her husband Cole, Colby Heinz, Mandi Heinz, Emma Stein, and Zachary Stein, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 1, 2026, with Rosary to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Kinsley.

Memorial donations can be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Ronald McDonald House (Wichita) in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

Alyce Dianne Cairns passed away on December 28, 2025, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 9, 1938, in Concordia, Kansas, to her parents, Clara (Kline) and LeRoy Pearce (deceased.)Dianne met Hugh Cairns while attending Brown Mackie Business College.&nbsp;

 They were married on April 13, 1958, in Lincoln, Kansas.&nbsp; Dianne and Hugh made their home in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; 

Dianne worked for several companies throughout Salina primarily as an office assistant or purchasing secretary.&nbsp; Dianne was a member of the American Business Women’s Association in Salina and was named Woman of the Year in 1988.&nbsp; 

She also did volunteer work throughout the Salina region with the community theatre, for abused persons, and through the church.From marriage with Hugh, Dianne gave birth to two sons, Mark Cairns (Debbie Stivers, companion) and Barry Cairns (Joylene Savage, fiancée.)&nbsp; She supported her sons by attending many baseball games, basketball games, and school events.&nbsp; 

Dianne often gave encouraging words before, during, and after these events and all events her sons went through throughout their lives including the death of Mark’s beloved wife, Janet Cairns.

Dianne loved singing.&nbsp; She sang in the church choir and often recruited Hugh and her sons to join her.&nbsp; Singing always gave Dianne joy.

Survivors include Dianne’s husband and sons.&nbsp; Survivors also include her grandchildren and great-children.&nbsp; She was joyful when seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; 

Her grandchildren include Mary Slevin and husband Zach Slevin, Elisha Cairns, Grace Woody and husband Elliott Woody, and Melissa DeWindt and husband Douglas DeWindt.&nbsp; Her great-grandchildren include Harper DeWindt, Canaan DeWindt, Eden Dewindt, and Hudson Slevin.&nbsp; 

All of her cares in the world melted away when she saw or heard about her grandkids and great-grandkids.&nbsp; She also leaves behind many old friends and family as well as new friends she had made at Eaglecrest Independent Living.

Dianne joins not only her parents, but also her sister, Doris Ohnemiller and her brother, Jim Pearce in the Lord’s welcoming embrace in heaven.The family suggests that any financial contributions a person would like to make in Dianne’s honor be made to the charity of the person’s choice.

A visitation will take place on January 2, 2026, from noon until &nbsp;1 pm at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; 

A private burial ceremony will take place at Gypsum Hill Cemetery after the visitation.

Letha Marie Sarten, 62 years of age, of California passed away Friday, December 26, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family in Mankato, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on May 8, 1963 in Olivehurst, California to Lawrence and Shirley Sarten.

Letha spent most of her early life in Olivehurst, California.&nbsp; In her adulthood she loved and raised 5 children.&nbsp; She was a homemaker most all her life and later work at a Institution in the state of Washington where she was a landscaper taking pride in her work and making the outside of the facilities beautiful.&nbsp;She enjoyed sewing, cartoons, taking trips at a moment’s notice, traveling and most of all spending time with her beloved family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Letha is survived by her mother, Shirley, two daughters, Nina Lyn (Tony), Patricia (Jonathan), 2 sons, Troy and Joseph, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her sister, Scotia.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her father, William Lawrence Sarten, a son, Shawn, brother, Dennis and her beloved man Randy Potts.

Letha’s wishes were to be cremated and private family services will be held at a later time in California.

Letha Marie Sarten

Glenn Earl Kohr (97 years, 3 months) of Salina, KS, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.&nbsp; He is remembered for his military service, professional achievements, musical talents, community involvement, and dedication to family.

Glenn was born Sunday, September 23, 1928, in Orwin, PA, the son of Earl and Lillian (Sando) Kohr.&nbsp; He grew up in Lebanon, PA, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1946.&nbsp; Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1952.&nbsp; After his discharge, Glenn continued his education at Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

In September 1947 while stationed in Salina, KS Glenn met Eunice Pistora.&nbsp; After a brief three-month courtship, they were married on December 21, 1947.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children: Diana (Middleburg, FL), Karen (Hutchinson), and Larry (Wichita).

After graduating from Kansas Wesleyan, Glenn launched his professional journey in the business sector serving as Treasurer/Controller for three corporations … Morrison Grain Co., Inc. and Wyatt Manufacturing, Inc. both located in Salina and Gilmore-Tatge, Inc. in Clay Center.&nbsp; He later transitioned into higher education, taking on the role of Business Manager at Marymount College in Salina.&nbsp; In 1978, he joined the Management Team at School Specialty Supply, Inc. and served in various leadership roles until his retirement in 1995, at which time he held the title of Treasurer/Controller.

Glenn had a lifelong passion for music and loved sharing his talents with others. During his military service, he played trumpet in the band, a role that defined his time in uniform.&nbsp; After returning to civilian life and while working in a professional office, he continued to actively pursue music, joining the Salina Municipal Band and performing with the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; He was also a member of the dance band King’s Men, which played venues from Kansas City to Goodland.&nbsp; Over the years, Glenn contributed his talents to several ensembles, including the Isis Brass Band, Shrine Band, and Heartland of America Band.&nbsp; He further enriched the musical community by tutoring students at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Glenn enjoyed traveling, boating, and fishing.&nbsp; He was also an avid aviator, earning his instrument-rated private pilot license and spending many hours in the sky.

Glenn was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Salina since 1955, where he served on the Church Council and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for three years.&nbsp; His commitment to community extended beyond the church, as he shared his talents with various organizations.&nbsp; He was an active member of the International Rotary Club in both Clay Center and Salina.&nbsp; He served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; Glenn also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Endowment Fund of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.

Glenn was actively involved in the Salina Masonic Lodge #60.&nbsp; He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on December 1, 1995.&nbsp; He served in many of the Lodge’s offices, achieving the office of Worshipful Master of Salina Lodge #60 in 1963.

Throughout his distinguished Masonic career, Glenn served the Kansas Grand Lodge with dedication.&nbsp; Early on, he contributed as a member of both the Registration and Credential Committees, and in 1964, he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master.&nbsp; His leadership continued to be recognized, and in 1998, he was named Grand Senior Deacon of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas.&nbsp; His commitment to the fraternity resulted in his installation as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Kansas Grand Lodge, a role he held with distinction from 2002 to 2003.

Glenn was a distinguished member of several Masonic and affiliated organizations.&nbsp; He held memberships in both the Salina and Ellsworth York Rite Bodies and was a Life Member of the Valley of Salina Scottish Rite, where he has been honored as a 33 Degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honour (K.C.C.H.).&nbsp; He served as Potentate of ISIS Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) in Salina.&nbsp; Additionally, Glenn was a member of Harmony Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), where he served as Worthy Patron in 1981.&nbsp; His affiliations also included the Royal Order of Jesters, the Knights of Mecca, and the St. David Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.

Glenn is survived by his three children, Diana (Bruce) Gilpin, Karen (John) Troyer, and Larry (Carol) Kohr; seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Jennifer (Eddis) King, Stephanie Hillcher, Michelle (Scott) Hillard, Kyle (Suzette) Van Doren, Kimberly (James) Lott, Joshua (Kristin) Kohr, Jessica (Richard) Conkling; eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous friends, and special caregiver, Ashley Klaurens.

He was preceded in death by Eunice, his wife of 71 years; mother Lillian; father Earl and his wife Betty; brothers Jack and his wife Roney, and Roger; sister-in law Gwendolyn Schoshke and her husband Kenneth.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A celebration of Glenn’s life will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Salina) with Rev. Kim Frederking presiding.&nbsp; Prior to the church service, a family burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery (Salina) with Masonic and Military Honors ceremonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church and Kansas Honor Flight in care of Ryan Mortuary (Salina).

During his military service, he played trumpet in the band, a role that defined his time in uniform.&nbsp; After returning to civilian life and while working in a professional office, he continued to actively pursue music, joining the Salina Municipal Band and performing with the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; He was also a member of the dance band King’s Men, which played venues from Kansas City to Goodland.&nbsp; Over the years, Glenn contributed his talents to several ensembles, including the Isis Brass Band, Shrine Band, and Heartland of America Band.&nbsp; He further enriched the musical community by tutoring students at Kansas Wesleyan University.Glenn enjoyed traveling, boating, and fishing.&nbsp; He was also an avid aviator, earning his instrument-rated private pilot license and spending many hours in the sky.Glenn was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Salina since 1955, where he served on the Church Council and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for three years.&nbsp; His commitment to community extended beyond the church, as he shared his talents with various organizations.&nbsp; He was an active member of the International Rotary Club in both Clay Center and Salina.&nbsp; He served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Salina Symphony.&nbsp; Glenn also held the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Endowment Fund of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.Glenn was actively involved in the Salina Masonic Lodge #60.&nbsp; He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on December 1, 1995.&nbsp; He served in many of the Lodge’s offices, achieving the office of Worshipful Master of Salina Lodge #60 in 1963.Throughout his distinguished Masonic career, Glenn served the Kansas Grand Lodge with dedication.&nbsp; Early on, he contributed as a member of both the Registration and Credential Committees, and in 1964, he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master.&nbsp; His leadership continued to be recognized, and in 1998, he was named Grand Senior Deacon of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas.&nbsp; His commitment to the fraternity resulted in his installation as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Kansas Grand Lodge, a role he held with distinction from 2002 to 2003.Glenn was a distinguished member of several Masonic and affiliated organizations.&nbsp; He held memberships in both the Salina and Ellsworth York Rite Bodies and was a Life Member of the Valley of Salina Scottish Rite, where he has been honored as a 33 Degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honour (K.C.C.H.).&nbsp; He served as Potentate of ISIS Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) in Salina.&nbsp; Additionally, Glenn was a member of Harmony Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), where he served as Worthy Patron in 1981.&nbsp; His affiliations also included the Royal Order of Jesters, the Knights of Mecca, and the St. David Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.Glenn is survived by his three children, Diana (Bruce) Gilpin, Karen (John) Troyer, and Larry (Carol) Kohr; seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Jennifer (Eddis) King, Stephanie Hillcher, Michelle (Scott) Hillard, Kyle (Suzette) Van Doren, Kimberly (James) Lott, Joshua (Kristin) Kohr, Jessica (Richard) Conkling; eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous friends, and special caregiver, Ashley Klaurens.He was preceded in death by Eunice, his wife of 71 years; mother Lillian; father Earl and his wife Betty; brothers Jack and his wife Roney, and Roger; sister-in law Gwendolyn Schoshke and her husband Kenneth.Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A celebration of Glenn’s life will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Salina) with Rev. Gary Dean Barrick, a dedicated family man and esteemed veteran, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 79. Born on August 27, 1946, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Gary led a life filled with love, service, and camaraderie.

Having retired from the United States Army in 1985 as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2), Gary's military career was marked by four tours in Vietnam. He was proud to be a member of the elite skydiving team, the Golden Knights, and served as an Army Ranger before becoming a Green Beret. His contributions to his country were commendable, and he carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life.

After his military retirement, Gary transitioned to a career in civil service at Fort Riley, where he diligently worked for the next two decades before retiring in 2008. His commitment to both his career and his family remained unwavering.

Gary was known for hosting the entire family and countless friends for every holiday and celebrations large and small. His home was a gathering place, radiating warmth and hospitality. A loving family man, Gary was described as caring, giving, and strong-willed. Among his proudest accomplishments were his roles as a father and grandfather, as well as his significant contributions as President of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

His passions included hunting and fishing, and he never stopped cooking, consistently trying new ideas and recipes up to his final days. He was an active member of the Union Lodge #7 A.F. &amp; A.M., participated as a Shriner, and engaged with the Scottish Rite, reflecting his supportive spirit towards his community.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary A. (Berinda) Barrick of Salina, Kansas; his daughter, Diann (Jimmy) Heath of Salina, Kansas; his granddaughter, Ciara Barrick of Salina, Kansas; his brothers, Dennis Barrick and Michael Barrick; and his niece, Denise Vance (Barrick).

He joins in eternal rest his loving wife, Ingeborg Barrick; his parents, Dean and Effie Barrick; his sister, Shirley Mae Barrick; and his brother, George Barrick.

Visitation will be held on January 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home in

Jimmie Dean Scholes, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born January 24, 1958, to Loren and Kathryn Scholes, the youngest of ten children.

Jimmie served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including the First Gulf War, retiring in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents, and five siblings. He is survived by his son John (Kristina), grandchildren Haley, John Loren, and Clay Allen; daughter Jessica; siblings Ann, Neva, JD, and Tom; and his niece Karen, daughter of Tom, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Joshua Ryan Norris, 36, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Born September 24, 1989, in Salina, Kansas, Joshua was the beloved son of Sherri Ann (Murray) Krug. After completing school, he pursued his passion for cooking and worked as a cook in numerous restaurants, finding joy in serving others through his work.

Joshua was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and KU. He loved playing basketball, spending time at the park, and taking walks—especially with Karley. His warm spirit and love for life touched everyone around him.

Joshua is survived by his son, Quintin; two brothers, Jeffery Humphries (Meriam) and Jason Taylor; aunts, Kim Beran and Angela Cearley (Charles); his significant other, Karley Burris and her children, Quinlynn and Mateo; his mothers cat, Elvis; and many cousins who loved him dearly.

Letha Marie Sarten, 62 years of age, of California passed away Friday, December 26, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family in Mankato, Kansas. She was born on May 8, 1963 in Olivehurst, California to Lawrence and Shirley Sarten.

Letha spent most of her early life in Olivehurst, California. In her adulthood she loved and raised 5 children. She was a homemaker most all her life and later work at a Institution in the state of Washington where she was a landscaper taking pride in her work and making the outside of the facilities beautiful.

Ronald J. “Ron” Harvey, 80, of Evansville, IN passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2025 at Ascension Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Ron was born February 3, 1945 in Salina, KS to the late Joseph and Louise Harvey. He graduated Gypsum High School, Gypsum, KS and attended McPherson College. Ron was in the Army Reserves after college. He was in the transportation industry for over 40 years. The family located to Evansville, IN for Ron to be in the office of Agency Services and Development at Atlas Van Lines.

Ron was known for his humor and quick wit. He loved traveling, reading, and football and later in life visiting his grandkids. He was excellent at giving advice, with a combination of empathy and intelligence to navigate any situation.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Susann, his adoring children, son Kris (Lisa) and his daughters Lori (Amy) and Sherri (Dennis) and four grandchildren, George, Eliott, Natalie, and Hayden.

Ronald J. Harvey

William “Bill” J. Roe, 89 years of age, of Mankato, Kansas passed away Saturday, December 27th, 2025, at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems in Beloit, Kansas. He was born on June 12, 1936, in rural Webber, Kansas to Clare and Della (Peck) Roe. Family, faith, farming, and cattle were Bill's lifelong passions.

From 1954-1956, Bill served in the US Army as a Radar Technician and Instructor during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Corporal. Bill was united in marriage to Shirley Konovalsky on October 13, 1954. To this union two children were born: Harrell and Rebecca “Becky.” Upon the conclusion of Bill’s military service, Bill and Shirley moved home to Jewell County, Kansas where they raised their children.

From an early age, Bill played a major role in the family crop and livestock farm. Bill partnered with his brother Lauren Roe and his son Harrell. He also worked closely with his nephew Keith Roe, his grandchildren, and a host of friends and business associates in both Republic and Jewell counties. Bill’s keen eye for cattle made him an invaluable resource for procuring cattle at livestock markets. He traveled many thousands of miles to sale barns around the region, where he met droves of acquaintances that turned into his many friends. No matter where Bill went, he never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell. While Bill’s life was devoted to the ranch, he always made time for short trips to see family or friends.

On November 27, 2004, Shirley entered into spirit, leaving a major void in Bill’s life as well as the rest of the family. He was introduced to Verla Hausar by close friends, and their relationship immediately blossomed. Bill and Verla were united in marriage on July 30, 2006. They made their home in Mankato, Kansas. Verla immediately became a vital part of the family and the farming and livestock operations too. Verla was Bill’s constant companion and beloved caretaker. Bill often said he was a very lucky man to have two incredible women love him like Verla and Shirley did.

Faith was a cornerstone for Bill. He served as Chairman of the Board at the Republic United Methodist Church and on numerous committees over the many years he was a member. Bill had a very strong belief in the value of service to others and was always the first to help anyone in need. Later in life, he became an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato, KS and enjoyed sharing his faith with his wife Verla. Bill is survived by his wife Verla Roe of Beloit, KS; daughter, Becky Ost of Superior, NE; grandson, Josh (Adassa) Roe and their son William Roe of Westmoreland, KS; granddaughter, Jenna Roe of Formoso, KS; granddaughter, Heather (Andrew) Wilber of Concordia, KS; granddaughter, Janell (John) Roe-Sawtelle and their son Aubrey Sawtelle of Rowlett, TX; grandson, Brice Ost of West Palm Beach, FL; and son-in-law Darrell (Terri) Kelley of Beloit, KS; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents Clare and Della Roe; wife, Shirley Roe; son, Harrell Roe; son-in-law, Kirk Ost; brother, Lauren (Virginia) Roe; and sister, Ilene (Rex) Headrick.

Delilah Marie Smith, 90, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas.

Delilah was born August 22, 1935, in Minneapolis, Kansas, to John H. and Myrtle Thelma (Masters) Hamilton.

Delilah was a 1953 graduate of Minneapolis High School. She married the love of her life, Dean Smith, on April 11, 1954. Together, they had four children: Larry, Marty, Clinton, and Tonya, who blessed them with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Delilah worked many jobs throughout her life, mostly in bookkeeping, but her longest tenure was serving as the City Clerk of Delphos until her retirement. She also cared for and maintained the Delphos Methodist Church for 40 years.

Delilah was devoted to her family, a loyal servant to her Lord, and a lifelong member of the Salina Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Delilah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; her siblings, Little Johnny, Welby, James Larry, Harvey, Carroll, Lonnie, Patricia, and Dean; her sons, Larry and Clinton; and her grandson, Jamie.

Survivors include her son, Marty (Carrie) Smith of Minneapolis; her daughter, Tonya (Dieter) Tyler of Delphos; her brother, Roy (Anne) Hamilton; her sister, Cleta (Mike) Kinsman; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 30, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 31, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Delilah Marie Smith

Dr. Fred Leslie Moss DVM, age 77, of Hoxie, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Fred was born on December 19, 1948, in Sheridan County, to Robert and Mildred (Conard) Moss. He was raised in Hoxie, where he met the love of his life, Kristine (Baalman). They were married July 11th, 1969, in Hoxie and shared 56 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and community.

Fred was a proud Kansas State University Alumnus, earning his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine there. His career led him to serve as a Captain in the United States Air Force, a role that took him and his family to Altus, Oklahoma. Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, he practiced Veterinary Medicine in Steele, North Dakota and Hoxie, Kansas alongside his true passion in farming.

Throughout his life, Fred had many accomplishments. He was a skilled basketball player, an avid outdoorsman, a devoted farmer, and a trusted friend to many. Of all his roles, his greatest pride was being a “girl dad” to his three daughters—Lesley, Robin, and Adriane—whom he loved fiercely. Fred often referred to himself as proud High Plains person and took his role seriously as a steward of the land.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Moss and his brother, Kirt Moss.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kristine Moss; his three daughters, Lesley, husband Jeff Walden; Robin, husband Steve Walden; and Adriane, husband Ryan Falco—and his six cherished grandchildren—Olivia, Madeline, Maggie, Henry, Jack, and Gunnar; brothers Thomas (Dolores) Moss and Max (Penny) Moss and a host of nieces and nephews.

Delroy Lee Holzwarth&nbsp;passed away at his home in Salina, Kansas, on December 23, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1946, in St. Francis, Kansas, to Marie and Alvin Holzwarth.

Delroy grew up on working on the family farm, and enjoyed spending his days exploring alongside his dog and best friend, Rex. Guided by an adventurous spirit, he set out after graduation to experience new places and pursue new opportunities.

He entered the food service industry, where he met Kathy Place. They were married in 1976 and shared 49 years together. An entrepreneur at heart, Delroy, alongside Kathy, built a variety of successful business ventures, ranging from real estate to futures and options trading, and ultimately an award-winning BBQ restaurant, featured in Food Network Magazine, The Hickory Tree, in Smolan Kansas.

Over the course of his life, he enjoyed many things, including what his family would call “treasure hunting” with his metal detector, riding motorcycles with multiple trips to Sturgis, exploring new places, “playing” on his tractor and as he got older, spending time with his sweet King Charles Cavalier, Wylee.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy Holzwarth; and his mother, Marie Holzwarth.

Delroy was the proud father of five children: Mylee (Jon), Darin (Suzanne), Kama (Phillip), Shamryn, and Josh (Marcie). He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Holzwarth, and his son, Darin Clapper.

The Funeral Service will be held on January 3rd&nbsp;at 11am at the St. Francis United Methodist Church in St. Francis Kansas.&nbsp; A luncheon at the church will follow the service.

She always enjoyed hanging out with her children and grandchildren. She also liked playing bingo and cards. You would also find her watching hallmark movies and football. She will be remembered for her smile, kindness, and always being happy to help lend a hand.

She is survived by her children, Lindsey Berg, McKayla Berg and Derek (Danielle)&nbsp; Berg; grandchildren, Kalani Hadnot and unborn Baby Berg; her parents, Albert and Sue Maurath; her sister, Michelle (Steve) Carey; her niece Ashely Carey; her nephews, Pierce Carey and Joe Erickson.

Marsha Kaye Berg

Gaylord “Gabe” Lynn Decker of Salina passed away on December 24, 2025.

Gabe was born on February 5, 1942, to Harvey and Pansy (Reese) Decker. His early years were spent on a farm east of Roxbury. When he was in the second grade, his family moved to Roxbury, where he attended grade school and graduated from Roxbury High School in 1960.

After graduation, he started his career in the construction business, working at the Salina Testing Lab. As the father of three young boys, he started taking engineering classes at Kansas Technical Institute at night. He later worked for the city of Salina and Wilson &amp; Company Architects and Engineers as a draftsman. He worked for several engineering firms as an estimator before starting his own company, Decker Construction, in the late 1980s. In Gabe’s mind, he never “officially” retired, working into his 70s, until his health would not allow him to continue.

In 1961, he married Karen Crowther, and they had three sons, Michael Lynn, Mark Allen, and Jeffrey Todd. They divorced in 1985.

Gabe was a man who built more than structures and projects; he built a life rooted in love, service, and family.

He was skilled with his hands, proud of honest work, and known for his ability to fix just about everything, which he passed on to his sons and grandchildren. If something was broken, he could be counted on to find a solution. He was the one everyone called when something needed fixing around the house, and he showed up without hesitation.

His greatest joy, however, was his family, especially his grandchildren. When a new grandbaby arrived, he would lovingly create sweet projects for nurseries, from shelves to quilt racks to cabinets. He and Karen refurbished furniture, created with care, each one built not just with tools, but with a grandfather’s devotion. These pieces stand as lasting reminders of his love.

Gabe spent many hours when the boys were young, coaching their various sports teams. When they were older, he never missed a game unless he was out of town working. Just as faithfully, he could be found in the stands or on the sidelines at his grandchildren’s sporting events, proud and present at every game, match, tournament and championship.

He especially loved spending time fishing with his granddaughters, spending those quiet, patient moments together. He rarely missed a soccer game for his granddaughters and was just as devoted to cheering on his great nieces and nephews at their football and basketball games. Because his grandsons lived out of state, he wasn’t able to attend many of their games, but he was so proud of their accomplishments. After retirement, he was able to travel to watch his grandson, Noah, play hockey. Even though hockey was a “new” sport for him, he was so excited to get to see Noah play. Whether on the sidelines or in the stands, Gabe was always there, even driving hundreds of miles to other states, proud, present, and supportive.

Though he appeared rough and gruff on the outside, those who knew him best understood that he had an enormous heart. He showed his love through actions rather than words, through steady presence, hard work, and always showing up when it mattered most.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his loyal presence on the sidelines and the deep, unwavering love he showed to his family.

Gabe was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his former wife and companion, Karen Sutton, his sons, Mike (Brenda) of Henderson, NV, Mark (Mauri) of Topeka, KS, and Jeff (Laurie) of Thorton, CO; sister Gloria (Gary) Seib of Denver, CO; and grandchildren, Tyler (Nikki) Decker of Atlanta, GA, Mackenzie Decker of Topeka, KS, Madison Decker of Nashville, AR, Macy (Seth) Boxberger of St. Louis, MO, Maggie Decker of Kirksville, MO, Nick and Noah Decker of Thorton, CO, and his first great- grandson, Maddox Decker of Atlanta, GA. Gabe also leaves behind sisters and brothers-in-law, Katie and Gary Weis, Karleen and Wendell Burch, Lynnie Crowther, and Jim and Darla Crowther, as well as many nieces and nephews.

As the father of three young boys, he started taking engineering classes at Kansas Technical Institute at night. He later worked for the city of Salina and Wilson &amp; Company Architects and Engineers as a draftsman. He worked for several engineering firms as an estimator before starting his own company, Decker Construction, in the late 1980s. In Gabe’s mind, he never “officially” retired, working into his 70s, until his health would not allow him to continue.In 1961, he married Karen Crowther, and they had three sons, Michael Lynn, Mark Allen, and Jeffrey Todd. They divorced in 1985.Gabe was a man who built more than structures and projects; he built a life rooted in love, service, and family.He was skilled with his hands, proud of honest work, and known for his ability to fix just about everything, which he passed on to his sons and grandchildren. If something was broken, he could be counted on to find a solution. He was the one everyone called when something needed fixing around the house, and he showed up without hesitation.His greatest joy, however, was his family, especially his grandchildren. When a new grandbaby arrived, he would lovingly create sweet projects for nurseries, from shelves to quilt racks to cabinets. He and Karen refurbished furniture, created with care, each one built not just with tools, but with a grandfather’s devotion. These pieces stand as lasting reminders of his love.Gabe spent many hours when the boys were young, coaching their various sports teams. When they were older, he never missed a game unless he was out of town working. Just as faithfully, he could be found in the stands or on the sidelines at his grandchildren’s sporting events, proud and present at every game, match, tournament and championship.He especially loved spending time fishing with his granddaughters, spending those quiet, patient moments together. He rarely missed a soccer game for his granddaughters and was just as devoted to cheering on his great nieces and nephews at their football and basketball games. Because his grandsons lived out of state, he wasn’t able to attend many of their games, but he was so proud of their accomplishments. After retirement, he was able to travel to watch his grandson, Noah, play hockey. Even though hockey was a “new” sport for him, he was so excited to get to see Noah play. Whether on the sidelines or in the stands, Gabe was always there, even driving hundreds of miles to other states, proud, present, and supportive.Though he appeared rough and gruff on the outside, those who knew him best understood that he had an enormous heart. He showed his love through actions rather than words, through steady presence, hard work, and always showing up when it mattered most.He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his loyal presence on the sidelines and the deep, unwavering love he showed to his family.Gabe was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his former wife and companion, Karen Sutton, his sons, Mike (Brenda) of Henderson, NV, Mark (Mauri) of Topeka, KS, and Jeff (Laurie) of Thorton, CO; sister Gloria (Gary) Seib of Denver, CO; and grandchildren, Tyler (Nikki) Decker of Atlanta, GA, Mackenzie Decker of Topeka, KS, Madison Decker of Nashville, AR, Macy (Seth) Boxberger of St. Louis, MO, Maggie Decker of Kirksville, MO, Nick and Noah Decker of Thorton, CO, and his first great- grandson, Maddox Decker of Atlanta, GA. Gabe Lynn Decker

Michael Wayne Gotti, age 74, of Tescott, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 25, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 18, 1951, in Salina, Kansas, to Carl and Mary (Smith) Gotti.

Mike was united in marriage to Jenny Young in 1972, and together they built a life full of love, hard work, and family. He graduated from Tescott High School in 1970 and went on to become a lifelong farmer and rancher. Mike also had a successful career at Philips Lighting before his retirement.In his free time, Mike had a deep passion for vintage cars and motorcycles. He was also a devoted grandfather, frequently attending his grandchildren's activities and cherishing every moment spent with them. Mike had a playful spirit, often bringing laughter to family and friends with his witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jenny; three sons, Joe (Randi) Gotti, Story Gotti, and Michael Gotti; daughter Jean (Mark) Still; his siblings, Joe (Heather) Gotti, Sandra Gotti, and Dorinda (Jason) Pace; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Gotti; mother, Mary Machaulda; and his brother, Gail Gotti.

The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Wilson Family Funeral Home,405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. A rosary and vigil service will begin at 5:00 P.M. Private funeral mass for family will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. 

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Mike’s honor to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Guy Richard Ryan III, 80, left this earthly plane on December 22, 2025, while comfortable at home. He was born to Guy Jr. and Mary Jane “Merk” (Ludes) Ryan, on November 8, 1945, in Salina, KS.&nbsp;

Guy graduated from Salina High in 1963, and spent his youth and much of his life enjoying all of the activities his home in Kansas had to offer. He was an Eagle Scout, loved camping, hunting and trapping, ice skating, skiing, canoeing and picked up his life-long love of fishing early-on. He studied at Fort Hays State University and joined the National Guard before beginning his career with the Salina Fire Department, where he served the community for nearly a decade. In 1985, Guy started his own business, and he spent the following years building Ryan Roofing into a multi-generational success for his family.

Guy’s love for angling was something he carried with him for more than 70 years, from leisurely trips with friends and family, to his later years spent as a pro-angler. Even when finding success fishing the Masters Walleye Circuit, he most enjoyed days on the water with his kids, nieces and nephews, grandkids and beyond, passing his love of fishing on to the next generation. Reaching the highest level of success doing the thing he first enjoyed with his mother, brothers, and friends during childhood truly was one of the highlights of his lifetime.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Merk, and his brother Jim. Survivors include his brother, Jerry (Rhonda); children, Marci, Mandie, Erin (Tracy), Jaime and Dan; grandchildren, Kelsey (Zach), Kyle, and Kaitlyn; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Leighton. For more than twenty years, Guy shared his life with his beloved Rhonda K. Ryan, of the home, and was cherished as “Pops” to Jacob (Alicia) Cutbirth, Kylee Eilert, Kaleb, Kasey, Kenzlee, Knox, Mason, and Remi.

Guy Richard Ryan III

DeAnnda “Dee” Bird, born November 1, 1962, in Salina, Kansas, to Archie and Joyce Fry at Asbury Hospital, passed away December 22, 2025, at her home.

She was the youngest of three siblings. She is survived by her sister, Darcy Smith (Bill), her brother, Dennis Fry, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Joyce Fry, and her brother, Greg Fry.

Dee married Roland “Roly” Bird Jr. on October 19, 1995. She retired from Salina Regional Hospital, where she worked for 32 years in food service. During retirement, Dee and Roly enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, and gambling, and especially cherished their most recent trip to Laughlin, Nevada, with friends Mary and Darrin Loe and Donnie Heidle.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salina Animal Services care of Ryan Mortuary.

Barbara "Barb" Ann (Jensen) Nelson passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025.&nbsp; She was born June 23, 1937, in Avon, Connecticut, to Peter and Hansine (Nielsen) Jensen.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She lived in Avon, Connecticut, until meeting Donald Duane "Smoke" Nelson while he was stationed in the US Army there and they married on September 24, 1960, then moved to Salina, Kansas, where they resided until Don's death.&nbsp; Barb then moved in with her daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, Bill, shortly after in Lone Jack, Missouri.&nbsp; She fell and broke her hip in April 2025, in the midst of building a family home in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; She consequently was residing at Pinnacle Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Barb was a homemaker and also enjoyed part time work after her children were raised. She was also active at Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering in their kitchen.&nbsp; She was a dedicated blood donor and received many pins for her contributions. Barb had many talents and was an excellent cook and baker, making candy, cookies, and homemade pies that she enjoyed sharing with family, friends, and neighbors.&nbsp; Her homemade pies were legendary as she would make at least one a week. At Christmas time, she would make several dozen treats to share with others and enjoy herself as she had a profound sweet tooth she got honestly from her proud Danish heritage!&nbsp; Barb was also an awesome bowler, belonging to several leagues in Salina.&nbsp; When she was no longer able to bowl or bake as much, her avid love of playing cards became a priority.&nbsp; Barb was the sweetest lady in the world until she was in a game of cards and then she played to win!&nbsp; Her other interests included "red birds", anything purple, covered bridges, horses, and her beloved grand dog Bella. Barb was a reading enthusiast including cookbooks, romance novels and mysteries.&nbsp; She also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, listening to Elvis Presley, whom she professed to be in love with, and anything with Tom Selleck in it.&nbsp; In her later years, Barb also enjoyed traveling including Branson, cruises, and visiting family "back East", as she described, and always wanted to visit Denmark.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Don, parents and 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Joey Jensen, Arnold and Jean Jensen, Earl and Nellie Jensen, Bob and Eleanor Jensen, and Clarence Jensen.&nbsp; Survivors include son Rex and wife Kim Nelson of Ham Lake, Minnesota, daughter Lisa and husband Bill Verhoeff of Lindsborg, Kansas, and grandson Drew Nelson of Lexington, Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10: 00 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, on Friday, December 26, 2025 with a small reception following the service with cookies in fond remembrance of Barb.
