Glenda "Glenna" Jane Vandyne, 82, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026. She was born in White City, KS, to Vernon and Amelia (Picolet) Shope on November 20, 1943.

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Vandyne, of the home; children, Shena Lynn Miloni and Quint Dean Rohloff; sister, Mildred Johnson; granddaughter, Fay M. Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Duston P. Miloni, Picard D. Miloni, and Anthony J. Gutierrez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, George E. Shope and Vernon G. Shope.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2026 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina. Burial will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Terry Lee Brasher, 74, of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, surrounded by family at McPherson Health &amp; Rehab.&nbsp;

Terry was born on October 31, 1951, in Aransas Pass, TX, the son of James Lonnie and Betty Bernice (Sirratt) Brasher.&nbsp; He graduated from Aransas Pass High School.&nbsp; On March 16, 2001, Terry was united in marriage to Nancy Ilene (Thompson) Pierce in Galva, KS.

He worked in the oil fields in Texas and overseas.&nbsp; Over the years, he built a strong reputation as a skilled mechanic.&nbsp; He owned and operated Texaco service stations in Aransas Pass and Rockport, where he was known for this hard work and dedication to his customers.&nbsp; Later, he served as a service technician at Becker Tire and Walmart in McPherson, continuing to share his mechanical expertise and dependable work ethic.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy of the home; four children, Michelle Beaven-Benedict (Bobbi) of Clark, MO, Marsha Lanning (Scot Schiller) of Rockport, TX, Justin Brasher of Milford, KS, and Elizabeth Schroeder (Tyler) of Enid, OK; a sister, Synthia Hinojosa of Rockport, TX; five grandchildren, Travis O’Bryan, Zachary Tabor, Brendon Brasher, Kaylee Schiller, and David Brasher; six great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerry Brasher and James Brasher.

Terry Lee Brasher

Gary Laverne Sechrist, 90, of Minneapolis, Kansas, finally decided to slow down on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. After nine decades of doing everything at full speed, including winning races well into his 80s—he figured heaven might be the only place left where he had not yet claimed first place.

Gary was born September 15, 1935, on a farm near Ada, Kansas, to Otto Emerson and Mary Rosina (Stirn) Sechrist. Farm life taught him hard work, determination, and probably how to throw things far and accurately, skills that later earned him countless first-place medals in senior softball competitions.

He graduated from Ada High School in 1954 and, in what may have been his greatest lifetime achievement, married June Adams on August 25, 1957. Together they shared 68 years of marriage, adventure, and a partnership strong enough to survive motorcycles, competitive sports, and Gary’s storytelling about “the good old days.”

Gary proudly served in the United States Army with the Big Red 1 at Fort Riley, KS and Gablingen Kaserne in Augsburg, Germany, where he formed lifelong friendships and undoubtedly introduced a few fellow soldiers to his competitive streak. After his military service, he worked for CIT Financial Services before Gary and June purchased the Hays Answering Service in 1976. He later added “airport retiree” to his résumé—though anyone who knew Gary understood he never truly retired from anything except maybe sitting still.If there was a ball to throw, a race to run, or a game to win, Gary was there. In his younger days, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. As an adult, he continued playing men’s softball and basketball and dominated senior games events like the softball throw for distance and accuracy and the 100-meter dash. He competed until age 85, proving that age is just a number, especially if you are determined to beat everyone younger than you.

Gary loved fishing and motorcycling—sometimes at the same time, or at least close enough. He and June spent many happy miles exploring the United States on their motorcycle, enjoying the scenery and, undoubtedly, stopping often so Gary could tell someone about his latest medal or biggest fish.

He also gave back generously, volunteering as a baseball coach for his sons, serving as a Boy Scout leader, and supporting church activities for youth and seniors alike. If you needed encouragement, advice, or someone to keep score, Gary was your man. Gary won the Sensational Sunflower Award from the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency for Aging for his volunteer services in Ottawa County, KS, in 2024.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Rosina Sechrist; his stepfather, Guy “Jack” Ayers; his sister, Marva Gene; his brothers, Gerald and Curly Sechrist; and his nieces, Sue Powell, Melonie Browder, Melissa Browder, and nephews, Danny Thomas and Jimmy Browder. He was also preceded in death by many beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, who are likely bracing themselves for his arrival—and a friendly competition or two.

Gary leaves behind his devoted wife, June; his children, Gary (Barb) Sechrist, Gregory (Melea) Sechrist, and Serina (Mark) Hamann; as well as seven grandchildren, Todd, Kevin (Taylor), Bethany (Jason), Ian (Amber), Robert (Amy), Derrick (Lexi), and Lindsay (Bailey), and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. Nothing made him smile brighter than having a grandbaby on his lap. He is also survived by his sisters, Melba Clanton and Sandra (George) Powell, sister-in-law Donna Newman, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own.The family will forever be grateful to the staff at Oak View for the exemplary care Gary received during his short stay.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 27, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 28, at the Antioch Baptist Church, Ada. 

Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, Ada.

Ila M. (Richards) Simon, Pierson, age 90, passed away on February 20 th , 2026. She was born on January 16, 1936, in rural Sheridan County, Kansas, to Harry and Hazel (Mace) Richards. She attended grade school in the country and then graduated Hoxie High School in the class of 1953. 

Ila and Dwayne Simon were married December 21st of 1952. To this union five children were born: Curtis, Melanie, David and two who died in infancy. Life on the farm was busy with cattle, hogs, chickens, and crops. Ila was a loving mother, and she made many sacrifices and cared greatly for her family. 

Like her mother she was a superb cook and gardener. She loved having flowers in the yard, raised strawberries and a large garden. She was particularly good at tending her houseplants. Petunias, iris, and sunflowers were some of her favorite flowers outside. She made jelly, canned different garden vegetables and fruits which her family enjoyed. Pickles of several varieties were a specialty. The kids and grandkids knew her to be the cream pie queen—requesting her chocolate and coconut cream pies often. Brownies and cool whip were favorites as well. Her mashed potatoes were always the creamiest.

She played piano and loved singing all her life. She married John Pierson in 1975. Going with him in the semi-truck she saw parts of the country she had not seen previously.

Ila was employed in different places over the years: working at Sheridan County Hospital, cooking at several restaurants, caring for elderly in their homes, and just before retiring managing the Quinter Senior Center where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. A member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ is the hallmark of her life as she battled life’s challenges.

She is survived by her children: Curtis Simon and wife Deb of Quinter, Kansas; Melanie Cooper and husband Kevin of Hoxie, Kansas; and David Simon and wife Leah of Princeville, Hawaii. Her grandchildren are Stephen Simon (Sarah), Becky Bruna (Lance), Jaime May (Steve), Jesse Cooper (Sydney), Justin Cooper (Lindsay), Qing Xia Simon.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Taylor Koch (Hunter), Madison Bruna, Oliver Simon, Autumn Simon, Derrick McMillan, Colton McMillan, Hannah McMillan, Tatum Cooper, Micah Cooper, Kayden Cooper, Kolby Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hazel Richards; infant children Dwayna and Danny Simon; brothers, Harold and Dean Richards; and sister Alta Gaede.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:30 am at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Studley, KS.

Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home.

Martha Elizabeth (Benfer) Van Scoyoc, El Dorado, KS, formerly from the Longford and Clay Center, KS area, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2026, at age 104. 

She was born November 7, 1921, to Edwin and Christina Benfer of rural Longford, KS. She graduated from Longford High School and completed a Normal Training Teaching Certificate. She taught at North Exeter and Beech Glen elementary schools prior to her marriage to Rex Ira Van Scoyoc. To this marriage, four children were born. Farm life, homemaking responsibilities and being a God honoring mother kept her busy. In her later years, she was known and appreciated for her quilting skills. Preceding her in death was her husband Rex, son Donald, and daughter Janet. 

Surviving are daughters Marjorie (Tom) Rice, Sharon (Terry) Stewart, daughter-in-law Evelyn Van Scoyoc, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on March 7, 2026, at Longford United Methodist Church. 

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M., prior to the 11:00 A.M. funeral service, with graveside services following at Prairie Dale Cemetery.

Jerry Bruce Reinhardt passed away on February 21, 2026. He died peacefully in his Stilwell, Kansas home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old.

Jerry was born to Elsie and Ted Reinhardt on August 22, 1932 in Salina, Kansas. His sister, Joyce Beverly, was born a few years later on November 10, 1935.

Jerry attended Kansas Wesleyan University. He met Marilyn Jean Carlson in 1951 and they married on October 10, 1954.

Jerry fulfilled his dream of being a pilot in the US Navy in 1953, a career that took him and his wife all over the world, from Okinawa, Japan to Bonn, West Germany.

Their son, Jay, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1959 and their daughter, Joni, followed in 1963 in Subic Bay, Philippines.

Jerry retired as a Commander in 1975, after 23 years of service. He picked out a house in Stilwell and moved his family from the east coast to the midwest. This “temporary” home is where he lived for the next 50 years.

He learned the home-building craft from his brother-in-law, Kenneth, and started Reinhardt Construction Company. He built houses for the next decade in southeast Johnson County. His son, Jay, bought his first home from his dad.

Jerry was a woodcarver his whole life. He’d always been able to draw and, according to him, woodcarving was three-dimensional drawing.

They joined the Kansas City Woodcarvers Club, and attended many events, including the KC Renaissance Festival, where Jerry displayed and sold his carvings.

Receiving several requests for miniature carousel horse carvings sparked his interest in merry-go-rounds. This grew into an unexpected adventure that led to founding the CW Parker Carousel Museum in 2005 in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Jerry spent countless hours volunteering at his beloved museum and bringing joy to every rider, young and old. He gave tours, hosted birthday parties, and took on speaking engagements to boost volunteers and donations.

He had an infectious laugh, a love for dogs, and an even greater love for his three grandkids and daughter-in-law.

Jerry Reinhardt was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his mother, Elsie, his father, Ted, his stepfather, W.O., and his sister, Joyce.

He is survived by his daughter, Joni, his son, Jay, his daughter-in-law, Kathy, his three grandchildren, Amy, Julie, and Ted, and his velcro dog, Buddy.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all. He wore many different hats in his 93 years of life, but the most important were husband, father, and Opa.

Visitation will be held at 10 am, Monday, March 2, 2026, at Stilwell United Methodist Church, 19335 Metcalf Ave, Stilwell, Kansas 66085. We will honor his life with a funeral service at 11:00 am. Military honors provided by the Louisburg VFW post 7348 and American Legion post 250. There will be a reception luncheon to follow.

Burial will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Jerry Bruce Reinhardt

Charles Latham Sr., 87 passed away on February 20, 2026.

Charles “Brooks” Latham was born on June 4, 1938, in Russellville, AR to Andrew Jackson and Annie Mae (Bone) Latham. He was the tenth of twelve children.

He joined the US Air Force in 1955, serving at numerous locations including Fairbanks, AK and Shilling Air Force base in Salina, Ks. This would be where he met his future wife, Bonnie Searle. They were joined in marriage on November 9, 1956. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Bonnie after 56 years of marriage.

Charles is survived by their children, Diana (Mike) Knudson of rural Abilene, Ks, Charles Jr. (Melinda) of Beloit, Ks, Larry (Joyce) of rural Abilene, Ks., and Karen Lanoue of Salina. A brother Bobby (Vickie) Latham, of London, AR and brother-in-law Harry (Butch) Searle of Salina also survives. Grandchildren include Josh (Jaci) Latham, Jessy (Travis) Coffield, Cody Knudson, Rachel (Scott) Pfannenstiel, Emily (Luke) Williams, Jacob (Leah) Latham, Caden Vahle and Kyler Vahle, along with twelve great grandchildren.

Charles and Bonnie were long-time residents of the Salina Kansas area, but Charles was always an Arkansan at heart. He was able to return to Arkansas after Bonnie’s death to spend a few final years around family and friends.

Due to health issues, he returned to Kansas where he was a resident of Hilltop Nursing Home in Beloit.

Per his request, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Charles will be laid to rest beside his loving wife at the Gypsum Hill cemetery in Salina, Ks.

Duane Eddy, 55, of Salina, KS, passed away on February 18th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Duane was born in Salina, KS to Dale Eddy and Sharon Kay Jenkins. Duane attended Central High School in Salina, and then obtained his welder’s license from Salina Area Vocational Technical School in 1991. He welcomed his daughter, Taylor Eddy, in 1996. During his life, Duane loved to work on cars, specifically his Chevrolet Laguna and Geo Storm, spend time with friends and family, play disc golf, play video games, watch the Denver Broncos play, and listen to his favorite bands. Towards the end of his life, Duane was known to volunteer at food banks and other charities.

Duane will be fondly remembered for his fun-loving and kind spirit, and being able to make friends wherever he went. To know him was to love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Eddy and Sharon Kay Jenkins. He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Eddy (Dylan Lee); siblings, Belinda Montijo, Mike Montijo, Tito Montijo, Darcie (Henry) Eddy Malmgren and Darren Eddy; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Tank.

William Udell “Bill” Bunting, 68, of Salina, KS, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born on August 20, 1957, in Gainesville, TX, to William J.L. and Frances (Rains) Bunting.

Bill grew up in Thackerville, OK, before moving to Salina, where he graduated from Salina South High School. He was a life-long over the road truck driver, most recently driving for Transervice Logistics of Salina. Bill loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, playing softball, visiting any casino, and most recently 3D printing. He also enjoyed spending time at Shiloh Ranch Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Audrey Davis-Bunting; children, Amy Bunting, Chris Bunting (Amy), and Amanda Davis (Monte); siblings, Belinda Rock (Steve), Steve Bunting, Jeff Bunting, Misty Hernandez (Cruz), Keenan Bunting, and Nathan Bunting (Sharon); grandchildren, Kylie Bunting and Tyshawn Johns, Dustin Bunting (Tori) and MaKayla Bunting, and Kachina, Melissa, Keegan, and Sadie Harrington; great-grandchildren, Jackson Welch, Maddox Marohl, Malakai Kelley, and Koa, Damien, and Lilith Harrington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

William Udell Bunting

Dorothy M. Miller of Wichita (formerly of McPherson) passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at&nbsp;the Wichita Presbyterian Manor. She was born on September 19, 1932, in Hays, Kansas and was the daughter of Harry Earl Welch and Violet A. Gibson.

She attended junior and senior high school in McPherson, and was united in marriage to Arthur. F. Miller on January 1, 1949, in Newton.

She received her Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Northern Colorado University at Greeley, CO, leading to her career in education as an elementary teacher in several schools in Colorado, Emporia, Kansas and California, before retiring to Surprise, AZ. Following her retirement, Dorothy remained active playing bridge, Mahjong and learning to play tennis which she pursued competitively on a senior league in Surprise. In 2010, Arthur and Dorothy returned to McPherson to be closer to family, residing at The Cedars. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, and Chapter HI of P.E.O. In 2021, Dorothy moved to Wichita to be closer to her daughters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur F. Miller; mother, Violet and step-father, Daniel Gibson; father, Harry and step-mother Pearl Welch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Phyllis Welch and Bob and Geneva Welch as well as her parents-in-law, Lloyd and Opal Miller.

Survivors include daughters, Gay Henrikson-Ladwig (Phil) of Wichita, KS and Kay Miller Davis (Andrew) of Wichita, KS; son, Michael Fontaine (Terri) of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Jon Henrikson of Weatherford, OK, Jason Henrikson (Amber) of Farmington, MN, Alicia Houston (John) of Kansas City, KS, Justin Perkins of Wichita, KS, Trey Fontaine of Vancouver, WA, and four great-grandchildren. Dorothy will also be remembered fondly by her four nieces, their spouses and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2026, in the chapel at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut St., McPherson, KS 67460.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Judith Leslie Shannon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tryhna N. James, a cherished wife, mother, and friend. A resident of Downs, Kansas, Tryhna passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 36. Born in Denver, Colorado, on May 20, 1989, she possessed a vibrant spirit that touched everyone she met.

Her heart was overflowing with anticipation as she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her son, Jayce Deen Johnson, due in March.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Justin Johnson; her loving children, Izyiah and Laynee; and many dear friends. Grace Maureen Clausen-Rufener passed from all earthly cares on February 20, 2026, 2 months before her 95th birthday.

Grace was born in Lincoln, Kansas in 1931 and married Leo Willis Claussen in 1949. They settled in Dorrance, Kansas and were blessed with six children: Colleen, Jim, Kathleen, Lynn, Therese and Maureen. She and her family moved to Lindsborg in 1964 where she became involved with the Lindsborg Broadway RFD playing Rosalie in “Carnival”, and sang with the Messiah.

The family later moved to Salina where Grace sang with a band for a time and with the Sweet Adelines as well as singing for numerous weddings, funerals, and for the Kansas state governor. In addition to singing, Grace enjoyed drawing and writing. She wrote a book, “The Diary of Elizabeth Smith”, published under the name Maureen McGuire.

Grace worked for fifteen years at Beech Aircraft as a machinist and later in the Quality Control area. While working for Beech she earned the role of Union Steward and later President.

Grace’s husband and father of her six children, Leo W. Claussen died in 2003. She remarried in 2013 to Gerald A. Rufener, who died in 2024.

Grace is preceded I death by her son Jim, her eldest daughter, Colleen, both of her husbands and her parents, Fred H. and Carol J. Shaw.

Richard Harvey, 83, of Salina, Kansas passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Richard was born in Salina, Kansas on February 15, 1943, to Hilda (Scott) and Earl Harvey.

Survivors include sisters, Julia Allen of Salina, Shirley Hawkins of California; brother, Danny Harvey of Salina; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his partner of 29 years, Dennis Byer; sisters Connie Gardner, Thelma Jean Harvey; and brothers Harold Harvey, Scott Harvey, and Warren Harvey.A memorial service will be held in April by the family.

Michael R. Rogers, 65, of Salina, Kansas passed away on February 20, 2026. Born on February 17, 1961, in Marion, Kansas, Michael was a beloved figure in his community and a pillar of strength to his family.

He began his career working on oil rigs for his father, Don Rogers, who preceded him in death. Michael also served as a part-time Sheriff's deputy in Marion County before dedicating himself to police work in 1985. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as a Patrolman, Detective, and Investigator for the State of Kansas, retiring from the Saline County Attorney's Office as an Investigator. His commitment to law enforcement and the safety of his community was unwavering.

Michael graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a double major in Biology and Chemistry, reflecting his lifelong love for learning and the natural world. This passion also manifested in his personal hobbies, which included hunting, camping, reading, and cooking. He cherished the outdoors, often spending his free time in nature's embrace, whether it was a quiet moment with a book or an adventurous camping trip with loved ones.

Michael was a loving husband to his wife, Janelle, and a devoted father to his children, Kendra Steinkirchner (TJ) and Erik Rogers (Anh-Minh). His joy was magnified by his ten grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and guidance. He also leaves behind his mother, Cora Rogers; and siblings, Bill Rogers (Susan), Dawn Luna (George), and Corey Rogers (Shelia), along with many nieces and nephews.

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate&nbsp;Terri Thorp-Dolan, who went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 20, 2026, at her home in Basehor, Kansas, surrounded by the people she loved most. She was born January 8, 1963.

Terri was the light of every room she entered. She loved fiercely especially her devoted husband, Jim; her sons, Jason, Ryan, and Travis; her daughters-in-law, Maggie, and Chelsea; and her precious grandchildren, Elliot, Maci, Rylee, Isla, and Reese who were the very joy of her life. She loved to attend their sporting events and performances and found deep happiness in

celebrating &amp; watching them grow. Nothing brought her more pride than being their grandma.

She is also survived by her father, Jim; sisters Traci and Pam; many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles and cousins; nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Travis James; her mother, Sally; mother-in-law, Joann; brother-in-law, Chuck; and her grandparents.

Terri loved music, reading, driving with the top down with her hair in the wind, dancing, and cheering on her Chiefs, Wildcats, and Royals. Some of her favorite times were spent at family gatherings or hiking in the mountains in Estes Park with her loved ones.&nbsp;

Her Catholic faith was the center of her life and sustained her through every season, including her courageous battle with cancer this past year. She believed life was meant to be celebrated and lived generously, and she made sure everyone around her felt seen, loved, and included.

Terri spent most of her life working in the healthcare industry where she got to showcase the love and care she had for others.&nbsp;

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. 9th St., Salina, KS, with inurnment following at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.&nbsp;

Herman A. Shublom, 82, of Salina, died peacefully at his farm home on Friday, February 20, 2026, after a fierce battle with metastatic melanoma.&nbsp; He was born March 27, 1943, in Salina. He was the son of Mr. Laurence Edward and Goldie Margaret (Swanson) Shublom.&nbsp;

Herman graduated from Saina High School.&nbsp; He lived and farmed on his family’s land west of Salina until he met the love of his life, his late wife Jennie. He then moved to “town” for a several years.&nbsp; During the later time in town, they started building their house on the farm, which finished construction in 1989. He and Jennie were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Salina.

Herman was dedicated to his craft, farming mostly wheat, soybeans, and milo but in his younger years raised pigs and chickens.&nbsp; A knowledgeable, passionate, handyman, as most farmers are, loved being in field plowing the land and harvesting his crops.

He spent time on the Rural Saline County Water Board. He received a Bankers Conservation Award in 1997 for proper land use and conservation practices to maintain the fertility and longevity of his land.&nbsp; He loved visiting Russell’s for breakfast most mornings, and an occasional afternoon pie from there as well. He spent most of his evenings socializing at local establishments, connecting with friends, travelers, and locals alike.

Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie (Anderson); his parents; brother, Edward Shublom; and sister, Helen Winder.

He is survived by his daughter, Polly Adams Matherly (Kevin), and grandchildren, Kolton and Madison Matherly.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina, with a graveside burial service at 2 p.m. at the Smolan Cemetery, Smolan, KS.

Valerie K. Sare, 73, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away at Wesley Medical Center on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 7:27 p.m.

Valerie was born on January 12, 1953, in Abilene, the daughter of Kenneth and Bonnie (Mock) Bourbina. She was united in marriage to Ron Sare on November 3, 1973, in Abilene, Kansas.

Valerie’s life was defined by compassion and service to others. She operated a daycare for many years and also worked as a waitress while raising her children. Later, she pursued a career in emergency services, serving as an EMT for both Abilene and Herington EMS. Her dedication to caring for others inspired her to attend Kansas Wesleyan University, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1992. Valerie continued her career as an RN at Herington Municipal She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bonnie Bourbina; and one nephew, Travis Bourbina.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband Ron of the home, and three children:

· Troy (Kelly) Goth, and their children Colton Adam-Goth, Kamber Musgrove, Katie Harrod, Joseph Picking, and Jackson Goth, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

· Jody Sare, and his children and grandchildren; Kaden (Tiffany), Dylan, Olivia, Caleb, Kelsey, and Mireya Sare.

· Christina (Patch Anguiano) Sare, and their children and grandchildren; Blake (Catalina), Emmett, Selena, Kameela, and Haylee Anguiano.

She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Bourbina Jr. and his wife Char.

Valerie had a love for life and a heart for family. She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, quilting, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by family—babysitting, sharing stories, and creating cherished memories. In recent years, she also enjoyed online shopping, especially on Amazon and Temu.

Valerie’s kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Esther M. Woodfolk, 100, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at her home.&nbsp; She was born in Washington D.C., on August 2, 1925 to Alexander and Bessie Manning.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Living Word International Ministries, 915 Smith Ave, Salina, Kansas. Burial will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to service at the church.&nbsp;

John Robert Somers Sr.&nbsp; passed away on February 19, 2026 at his home In Minneapolis, Kansas, surrounded by the people he loved most.&nbsp;

John was born in Ottawa County Kansas and affectionately called "Johnnie".&nbsp; His parents were Robert and Ethel (Sinklier) Somers.&nbsp;&nbsp; In April 13, 1967, he married Marcia Kay Hood, and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2020.&nbsp;

John grew up in Ottawa County Kansas, later moving his family to Texas and Missouri before retiring back home to Ottawa County Kansas.&nbsp;

John was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; John deeply loved his church family and looked forward to visits from them in the last days of his life.&nbsp;&nbsp; John had an extraordinary love of God and expressed that in his last moments.&nbsp;

John worked several jobs throughout his life.&nbsp; Most notably as a long haul truck driver.&nbsp; John was a hard worker and great provider.&nbsp; He sacrificed time with his family to spend long hours on the road to support them.&nbsp;

John's proudest titles were that of "Dad" and "Bepa".&nbsp; He loved his children and adored his grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

John was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.&nbsp;&nbsp; The love of sports he passed to his children.&nbsp;

John was proceeded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers - Cecil, Tommy, Jerry, Jack; Sisters - June and Susie.; granddaughters Melanie and Angel Somers and grandson Kelly Masters.&nbsp;&nbsp; His loved and pampered dogs Duke and Duchess.&nbsp;

Survivors include his children: Brenda (Denis) Masters; John Somers II, Mindi (Matt Herring) Somers, Michelle (Tasha David) Somers.&nbsp; Grandchildren: Masen, Clay (Sierra) and Karli Bruce; Paeton and Jayden Adamson; Teagan, Alycen and Londyn Lovelace; Derek (Bethany), Shelby and Madison Masters; Amanda (Andrew) McRae; Makenna Maxwell; and 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.&nbsp;
