Kurt G. Finney, 61, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home in rural McPherson.&nbsp;

Kurt was born June 17, 1964, in McPherson, KS, the son of Garron Dwight and Carlene Jo “Carly” (Harold) Finney.&nbsp; He graduated from Topeka West High School. In 1995, Kurt married Kristi Schmidt in McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Kogan, Ashley, Allison, and Kyne.

Kurt was truly one of a kind — a jack of all trades with a fiercely independent spirit. He drove school bus routes for USD 400 and USD 418. Throughout his years, he enjoyed disc golf, both competitively and recreationally, taking home hardware in multiple tournaments.&nbsp; But the real love for the sport came from the camaraderie of playing with his friends and family. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in rock climbing, hunting, fishing, waterskiing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. The outdoors wasn’t just a pastime for him — it was a way of life.

Kurt was a homesteader at heart. From gardening and canning vegetables to raising and butchering his own meat, he believed in self-sufficiency. Years ago, he opened his farm to host large gatherings, welcoming friends and family. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs, and even the local wildlife knew they could count on him for a handout.

If there was something Kurt didn’t know how to do, he simply learned it. Armed with books and determination, there was no project he wouldn’t tackle himself. He enjoyed strategy games like craps and was known for speaking in riddles, often leaving his children to puzzle over his cryptic messages. Ornery by nature, he never hesitated to share his “words of wisdom.” Strong-willed and thoughtful, he stood firm in his beliefs and lived life on his own terms.

Kurt’s legacy is one of independence, curiosity, grit, and heart. He will be remembered for his stories, his stubborn streak, and the many lives he touched along the way.

He is survived by four children, Kogan Finney of McPherson, KS, Ashely Burch (Kordell) of Lindsborg, KS, Allison Finney of Grand Rivers, KY, and Kyne Finney of McPherson, KS; four grandchildren, Riata, Briar, Sampson, an

d Kaulder; one sister, Gara Anthony (Mike) of Kingwood, TX; and many extended relatives.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.&nbsp;

Kurt G. Finney

Philip Earl Bowman, 77, died February 16, 2026, at his home of almost 50 years in Salina, Kansas. He was born December 17, 1948, in Great Bend, the son of George Henry and Isabel (Peters) Bowman.

Philip received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1971 and Master of Business Administration from KSU Salina in 1992. He worked in purchasing and sales, retiring from School Specialty in 2016. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Civitan International, earning Salina Civitan of the Year in 2006. His volunteering included service on the Salina Public Library Board, as a KWU Foundation Trustee, and with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.

Philip’s interests included science fiction, space, gardening, amateur radio, music, U.S. history, and reading about all of them and more.

Survivors include his only sister, Jane Ellen Johnson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; brother, Joseph M. Bowman of Pawnee Rock; former wife and close friend, Linda (Young) Bowman; son, Aaron Bowman and wife Deborah of Olathe; grandchildren, Ryan and fiancée Ashlyn of Lenexa; Emma and Sara of Olathe; Natalie, Andrew, and Jack of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also survived by precious and enduring memories of son, John Bowman of Baton Rouge.

Philip cherished connections with many cousins, nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026 in the Trinity United Methodist Church Family Life Center,&nbsp;901 E. Neal, Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp;Monday, February 23rd at Trinity United Methodist Church with a luncheon following.&nbsp; Graveside services will be held at a later date in Pawnee Rock, Kansas.

Patricia "Patty" Anne Martin (Todd), 78, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on February 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born August 29, 1947, in Abilene, Kansas, to Marion and Melba (Rassette) Todd, Patty graduated from Salina High School in 1965 and later attended Fort Hays State University. She was employed with Westinghouse, Fireside Inn, and Big John's before finding her career at B&amp;K Prescription Shop, where she retired after 33 years.

Patty was famous for her holiday cooking and loved camping, looking forward to the American Legion Camporama every year. In retirement, she and Chuck headed south for the winter each year to the Valley in Texas, where they met up with friends. She found joy in reading, bingo, and gardening—but her greatest loves were her family, her grandkids, her cooking, and her cat, Lucy.

She is survived by her partner, Chuck Reinhardt; her daughters, Monica of Salina and Amy of Kansas City; her grandchildren: Connor and Lindsey of Salina, Carson and Dustin of Salina, Ethan and Sabrina of New Jersey, and Alex and Katie of Kansas City; and her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Arlo, Sebastian, and Kohen. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Kersey of Salina, and her nieces, Misty and Alison. She is also survived by her bonus children, Rhea and Wendy, and their children: Autumn, Charliee, Genevieve, Morgan, Acacia, and BT. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Madalyn; and her bonus son, Ryan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center or the Salina Animal Shelter. Prayers and kind thoughts are also deeply appreciated.

Samuel Edward Underwood II (Max)&nbsp;was born on September 20, 1950, in Hot Springs, AR, and went home to our Lord on February 15, 2026, at the age of 75 in Salina, KS.

Sam graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO and was ordained as a pastor in 1975. He also worked in the restaurant industry and as a bookkeeper. He had a love for old cars, he loved to laugh, and he loved to spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Edward Underwood Sr. and Ester (Lois) Louise Underwood and siblings Michael Underwood, Edna Welbourne, and William Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Luann (McGie) Underwood, four children Christine Michelle (Aaron) Barstead, Benjamin Michael (Karyn) Underwood, Samuel Edward (Rebecca) Underwood III, and Michelle Louise Underwood, as well as 9 grandchildren Hannah (Chance) Underwood, Brady Underwood, Danielle (Matt) Barstead, Lucas (Leah) Underwood, Kenny Barstead, Ethan Underwood, Lawrence Underwood, Molli Dickey, &amp; Abigail-Rose Underwood and 3 great grandchildren Kaelynne Buttermore, Alaina Buttermore, and Violet Underwood. Samuel Edward Underwood II

Mildred Carol (Borecky) Hynes, formerly of rural Sylvan Grove, Kansas, passed away on February 17, 2026, at the Holiday Resort in Salina.

Mildred “Millie” was born on December 31, 1938, in a limestone house west of Black Wolf, Kansas, to second-generation Czech parents, John and Marie (Janda) Borecky. She was the fifth of six children in the Borecky family.

Millie attended South Excelsior School, a one-room schoolhouse, through the eighth grade, and later graduated with the Class of 1957 from Ellsworth High School.

She married Richard H. Hynes on April 25, 1961. They met at a polka dance at the old Ellsworth Armory, with the band of Harrison Moyer, who incidentally also played at their wedding a couple of years later. They were blessed with three daughters: Carmen, Linda, and Connie.

Millie was a farm wife until the passing of Richard in 1991, when she began working at Kansas Originals, where she worked for over 30 years. She was also a part-owner and worked at the Country Corner Store in Sylvan Grove prior to Richard’s death. She enjoyed visiting with customers, and seeing family come in was always a bonus. She also served as the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Safety Chairman for several years.

In her earlier years, she and Richard enjoyed dancing to polka music and listening to her husband play in The Harmony Four. She sewed many items for her daughters’ music programs and the clubs in which they participated. She was a 4-H leader and a member of Modern Mrs. EHU. Millie enjoyed playing Pinochle with her siblings, working on jigsaw puzzles, crafting, and—lest we not forget—her favorite pastime of reading. The only television shows she enjoyed were Lawrence Welk and Barbara Mandrell. Every Saturday evening, the TV was always tuned to Channel 2 at 7:00 p.m. for some champagne music.

She had a good sense of humor and a quick wit - always a wise crack. She could usually fix any problem with good common sense and an engineering mind. She often joked that she never needed a dishwasher because she had three daughters.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove, KS, since 1973, when she was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Millie served as a Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; her siblings, Vivian Kratzer, Libbie Sebesta, Lester Borecky, Viola Jiricek, Myrene Soukup, and her son-in-law, John Long.

Left to mourn her passing are her three daughters: Carmen (Jeff) Griffin, Linda (Denny) McClintock, and Connie Long; seven grandchildren: Travis, Jeremy, and Derek McClintock; Margy Clem, Sam Long, Bryce Griffin, Jordan Smith; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 21, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service, with a luncheon to follow. Millie would have truly enjoyed the opportunity to visit with everyone.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.

Rickie Lynn Griffith, born on June 17, 1959 in Concordia, Kansas to parents Richard and Loretta (Austin) Griffith, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2026 after a journey with Frontal Temporal Dementia.

Rick lived in Culver most of his younger life and attended grade school at Culver, then completed High School education at Tescott Schools. He went to Salina Vo Tech for body work. Rick worked during high school and for a few years after on a farm near Lincoln, Kansas. He went to Minnesota for almost 2 years, working in cabinetry and construction. Then he came back to Culver and worked at Culver Elevator, when he met his wife, Sandy Sears (Barnum). He was married to Sandy in 1986. He then moved to be with her in McPherson and took a job at Lacy-Regehr Ford Motors in McPherson in the Parts Department. He was there until they moved to Salina in 2006 and then worked for Roberts Trucking and then with Sunflower Bank, where he was employed for 16+ years.

He always loved being involved in all family gatherings and activities, attending many soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc games. He was an excellent cook. And he always enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. In September of 2024, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and spent the remainder of his days in Minneapolis Nursing Home. He committed his life to the Lord and was baptized in November of 2025.

He is preceded in death by his 1st born son, Robert Lee Griffith, born into Heaven on October 3, 1988 and his father Richard "Dick" Griffith on January 18, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Griffith; son, Zach Griffith (Melanie) of Manhattan, Kansas; step-sons, CJ Sears (Nicole) of Shawnee, Kansas, Travis Sears (Katie) of McPherson, Kansas; proud Grampie of 11 grandchildren, Jordan, Jentry, Carter, Ava, Vivian, Jaykin, Jaxton, Gabe, Hudson, Brody, and Taryn; mother, Loretta Griffith of Concordia; sister, Glennis Hughes (Neal); brothers, James Griffith (Sherry) of Delphos, George Griffith (Denese) of Salina; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. at New Community Christian Church, 530 E Cloud St, Salina.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Community Christian Church.

Rickie Lynn Griffith

Judy Ann Richards was received in Heaven on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at her residence in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 83. Judy was born on July 24, 1942, in New Cambria, Kansas, to Glen Christian (Jake) Nelson and Esther Helen (Seim) Nelson. Judy developed a strong work ethic in her youth by growing up and working on her family farm. A Solomon High School graduate, she was a cheerleader, FFA Queen, sale barn café waitress, and bank teller before leaving the Salina area. &nbsp;She married Thomas Edwin Richards on July 21, 1962, in Salina, Kansas and moved to Newton, Kansas. &nbsp;During her marriage she spent many hours supporting Tom’s love of sports, watching him develop from high school and college sports, and later as a Division I college referee. &nbsp;This provided a lifelong enjoyment of watching sports and traveling with her son to multiple sporting events. Judy worked a long career in banking both in Kansas and Texas. &nbsp;Judy was an active member at Trinity Heights Methodist church in Newton and raised her children in faith.&nbsp;

In 2001, she moved to McKinney, Texas to be closer to her grandchildren and assumed what would be her most fulfilling role in life as MiMi. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Judy had a giving heart, a caring soul and was known to put others’ feelings first in front of her own. She loved her family and was dedicated to raising her two children and grandchildren. &nbsp; She will be missed deeply by her family.

Judy is survived by son, Kenton Richards (Karen) of Baldwin City, Kansas; daughter, Jennifer Smith of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren: Amanda Mason (Jimmy), of Coweta, Oklahoma, Hannah Smith of McKinney, Texas, Wyatt Parmley (Hanna) of Belton, Missouri, and Betsy Taylor (Kaavn) of Guthrie, Oklahoma; great granddaughter, Ava Capps of McKinney, Texas; sister, Nancy Fischer of Salina, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, and co-Grandma Sharon White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Esther Nelson; husband Thomas (Tommy) Richards; infant son, Kirk Allen; infant daughter, Cari Ann; and grandson, Joshua Smith.&nbsp;

Family will be receiving relatives and friends for a celebration of life at Judy’s home in McKinney, Texas, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Salina, Kansas, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026.&nbsp;

Maria de la Luz Bonilla of Salina, KS, was called back to heaven Sunday, February 15th, 2026, at the age of 78. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the comfort of her own home.

Maria (Luz) is survived by; her children, Dominic Bonilla, John Bonilla Jr. (Priscilla

Liserio-Bonilla), Angelica Nunemaker (Paul Nunemaker), and Mario Bonilla (Karli Schrag-Bonilla), all of Salina; grandchildren: Payton (Evan), Denise, Sydney, Cierah (Rodolfo), Savannah, Alexxa, Declan, Quinton, Ruby, Kamryn, Sinjin, Erica, and Ian; great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Roen, Kloe, Delilah, Julien, and Lorenzo; sisters: Manuela Garcia (Alfonso Garcia), Maria C. Reveles (Raul Reveles); and brothers, Saul Delgado (Irma Delgado), Noel Delgado (Maria L. Delgado), and Santos Delgado Jr., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Luz was preceded in death by her parents, Elisa and Santos Delgado, her husband, John Bonilla Sr. and her brother, Emiliano Delgado.

Luz was born in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, on March 16, 1947. She spent her early years on the ranch (El Ranchito), making many wonderful memories with her family. At the young age of twenty-two, Luz married the love of her life, John Bonilla Sr. , and started their life together. She dedicated much of her time and energy raising her four children and caring for her grandchildren. Luz worked at Tony's Pizza Service for more than twenty-five years before retiring and focusing solely on her family. Luz lived a life led by faith and love. She is remembered for her strength, family values, and witty personality by all of those who knew and adored her.

Kooper Ray Jensen passed away on February 15, 2026. Born on July 22, 2009, Kooper was known by many for his "old soul" and his passion for U.S. history, aviation, and music.

A dedicated student of life, Kooper loved uncovering his heritage and searching for treasures while walking outdoors. He was a collector of moments and artifacts—a walker of trails who found magic in heritage and "insane" wonders in the everyday.

His older brother, Peyton, was not just family but his best friend; the two were inseparable, sharing hours over meals, workouts, and the kind of deep conversations about life that only brothers can have. His sister, Aly, was his steadfast advocate, always standing by his side whenever he needed her.

Dustin and Stephanie will forever carry the echoes of Kooper’s goofy laugh and his genuine eagerness to hear family tales. They will miss his helping hand in the kitchen, his unique perspective on the world, and his infectious laughter. Though he will no longer take the dogs for a ride, swing at the park, or remind his parents they are "getting old," his presence remains unshakable. Kooper lived with a thoughtful intensity and a playful wit. He was loved deeply, and the void he leaves behind is as vast as the history he so loved. While he left this world too soon, his memory will be kept alive by the family who loved him and the stories he so cherished.

Kooper Ray Jensen

Harry W. Putnam, 84, Bennington, died Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center. Harry was born April 3, 1941, in Lawrence, to Vinnal and Della (House) Putnam.

       Harry worked for many years at ADM in Salina. He also worked construction and could fix almost anything that was broken. Harry had a love for model trains and was known for his extensive collection.

       He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jackie Putnam; and sister, Delena Houser.

       Survivors are his children, Gary Putnam and wife, Tiffany and Donita Barlow and husband, Chuck; brother, Merlin Putnam; sister, Lorene Putnam; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

       Harry has been living at the Nicol Home in Glasco for the past several years. The family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care that he received.

       The family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 20 at the United Church of Bennington. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery. Jake Weaver, 43, passed away on February 6, 2026 in San Diego, California. He was born on May 21, 1982 in Concordia, Kansas to Richard and Glenda (McDaniel) Weaver.&nbsp;

Jake graduated from Glasco High School in 2000. He then attended Cloud County Community College getting an Associate’s Degree in Business. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources from Fort Hays State University.&nbsp;

His true passion in life was his horses and acquiring his judging card for horse shows. He traveled all over and met wonderful people in the horse showing circuit. If you knew Jake, you know he never knew a stranger. He also loved spending time with family and traveling.&nbsp;

Jake is survived by his parents, Richard and Glenda Weaver; sister, Maria Bieker (Shane), nephews Colten West (Kaile Black), and great-nephew Quade West; brother, Bill Weaver (Patty), nephews Kreden and Sage and one niece, Graceyn; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.&nbsp;

Jake Weaver

Ronald Duaine Aspegren, 73, of Courtland, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born in Belleville, Kansas on May 25, 1952 to Clarence “Delbert” and Norma (Greenslade) Aspegren.&nbsp;

Ron attended kindergarten at Courtland grade school, before the family moved to their farm on Highway 36, where he then attended Scandia schools and graduated from Scandia High School in 1970. Ron went on to attend Cloud County Community College and Fort Hays State University, both on track scholarships. He was working toward a degree in Vocational Agriculture before he returned home to the family farm.&nbsp;

Ron married Connie Hancock in Scandia, Kansas on August 27, 1977 and they welcomed two daughters, Quinn and Sarah. Ron and Connie shared a love of agriculture and enjoyed raising their daughters on the family farm east of Courtland. Ron was a Golden Harvest Seed dealer for 20+ years and had a passion for growing sweetcorn and sharing that corn with family and friends.&nbsp;

Ron loved the Courtland and Scandia communities, never missing an opportunity to visit with his friends and neighbors over coffee, like any good swede…he truly never met a stranger. Ron was a life-long member of the Amana Lutheran Church in Scandia, Freemason Lodge #211 of Courtland, the Courland Rural Fire Department, the Scandia Lions Club and a member of the Cub Scouts as a child. Ron served as a member and president of the Pike Valley USD 426 school board for 12 years and was a Courtland Township Trustee. Each winter, when the weather got cold and there was a little less farming to do, he would swap his trademark overalls for his black and white striped official’s shirt to call junior/senior high school, as well as junior college basketball games across Kansas. Ron was a state of Kansas basketball official for 30 years and when asked how he put up with hecklers in the crowd, he simply said …”I can’t hear them anyway.” If you knew Ron, you knew that he didn’t hear well; though hearing loss affected him since childhood, it never dampened his spirit or enthusiasm to socialize.&nbsp;

Ron loved car racing, and if there were race cars making laps on the Belleville High Banks, he was there. He also enjoyed several trips to the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa and the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK. Ron was a proud sponsor and pit crew member for brother-in-law, Doug Hancock’s #32 stock car, enjoying Friday race nights in Red Cloud Nebraska.&nbsp;

Like most farmers, Ron enjoyed being outside. As a kid he loved spending time at Lovewell lake with his parents and sisters, becoming an excellent water skier (though not as good as his sister, Phyllis would often remind him.) In his 20’s, Ron was an accomplished team roper on his favorite horse, Popeye, and over the years his passion for sport grew as he ran the gambit in support of his daughters and grandchildren’s endeavors, even becoming a pageant dad. Ron was an avid K-State fan who wore his purple loud and proud, but he was equally proud of each one of his K-State and KU graduate daughters. Ron’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, from their sports to grandparents’ day at school, he loved it all. No matter the field of play, stage or setting, Ron always enjoyed the people around him.&nbsp;

Ron is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Lorine Aspegren, Duaine and Alice Greenslade; parents, Delbert and Norma Aspegren; father-in-law, Lowell Hancock, mother-in-law, Doris Hancock; sisters-in-law, Cheryl McMullen and Karen Hancock and brothers-in-law Jim Jensik and Stanley Grueber.&nbsp;

He will be remembered by his wife, Connie Aspegren; his daughters, Quinn Rakaskas (Chris) of Thompson Station, TN and Sarah Sadler (Tripper) of Smith Center, KS; his 4 grandsons, Jack Rakaskas, Ron Samuel Rakaskas, Brody Sadler, Drake Sadler, and granddaughter, Sutton Sadler; sisters, Phyllis Jensik, Belleville, KS, Jane Ann Carlgren (Edward), Scandia, KS, and Carrie Stehno (Mark), Nixa, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;

Services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 23, 2026 at Amana Lutheran Church in Scandia, KS with Pastor Kathy Aiello officiating. Overflow services will be livestreamed at the American Legion Auxiliary Post 193, in Scandia KS, with lunch and fellowship at the Legion immediately following the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Visitation is Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.&nbsp;

 </figure>Ronald Duaine Aspegren, 73, of Courtland, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born in Belleville, Kansas on May 25, 1952 to Clarence “Delbert” and Norma (Greenslade) Aspegren.&nbsp;Ron attended kindergarten at Courtland grade school, before the family moved to their farm on Highway 36, where he then attended Scandia schools and graduated from Scandia High School in 1970. Ron went on to attend Cloud County Community College and Fort Hays State University, both on track scholarships. He was working toward a degree in Vocational Agriculture before he returned home to the family farm.&nbsp;Ron married Connie Hancock in Scandia, Kansas on August 27, 1977 and they welcomed two daughters, Quinn and Sarah. Ron and Connie shared a love of agriculture and enjoyed raising their daughters on the family farm east of Courtland. Ron was a Golden Harvest Seed dealer for 20+ years and had a passion for growing sweetcorn and sharing that corn with family and friends.&nbsp;Ron loved the Courtland and Scandia communities, never missing an opportunity to visit with his friends and neighbors over coffee, like any good swede…he truly never met a stranger. Ron was a life-long member of the Amana Lutheran Church in Scandia, Freemason Lodge #211 of Courtland, the Courland Rural Fire Department, the Scandia Lions Club and a member of the Cub Scouts as a child. Ron served as a member and president of the Pike Valley USD 426 school board for 12 years and was a Courtland Township Trustee. Betty Joan Rassette, 93, of Salina, KS. passed away on February 12, 2026, in Salina. She was born on January 20, 1933, in Frankfort, KS. to Vester and Edith (Thomas) Leinweber.

Betty graduated with a master’s degree from Kansas State University and taught for over thirty years with most years being at Salina Central High School. She was a department chair and Foods teacher. Towards the end of her career, she also taught Science.Betty enjoyed traveling. She had visited every state. Betty and her husband Richard went on five different cruises with a Mediterranean cruise being her favorite. The highlight of her travels was her trip to Kenya, Africa.

Betty was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She served as an Elder and on various committees. She spent her spare time volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Morrison House, and Red Cross. She loved preparing food and serving on Fridays at Salina Grace. She was a member of Silver Needles and loved to quilt. Her family has many heirlooms of her beautiful quilts.

She is survived by her son, Brian (Sue) Rassette of Leawood, KS. and daughter Diane (Randy) Shandy of Bartlesville, OK. Four grandchildren, Joe (Molly) Rassette, Anna Rassette, Lisa (Adam) Augustine, Amy (Bryan) Kelley. Six great grandchildren, Logan, Aubree, Josie, Jude, Frankie and Archie with two more on the way. She loved the moments when her entire family would get together.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, and her brothers Elliot and Vester Leinweber.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at 10:30am at Sunrise Presbyterian Church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International, Salina Grace or the CASTLE Program at Sunrise Presbyterian Church.

Margaret Ann Wedel, 66, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp;

Margaret was born October 3, 1959, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Wilfred Aloysius and Elaine Albertonia (Quint) Sander.&nbsp; She spent her grade school years at St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from McPherson High School in 1978.&nbsp; She received her cosmetology degree from Sidney’s Hairdressing College.

On July 29, 1978, Margaret was united in marriage to Wyman J. Wedel in McPherson.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 30, 1985.

Margaret retired from&nbsp;Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance&nbsp;after many dedicated years of service. Earlier in her career, she worked as a shift manager at&nbsp;Pizza Hut, where she built lasting friendships.

Margaret was truly a jack of all trades. She loved baking and decorating cakes, sewing, and spending time on arts and crafts projects. She completed auto vo-tech training and took pride in working on and repairing vehicles. Her talents were many, and she approached each hobby with enthusiasm and skill.

She was a very giving and forgiving person, always supportive of her family and friends. Margaret generously helped her neighbor, Nancy, with appointments and medical needs, and she cherished playing cards with her friend, Diane. She enjoyed singing karaoke at the American Legion and attending concerts.

Above all else, Margaret treasured time spent with her family. She rarely missed her grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events, celebrating each milestone with pride and joy. Her Christian faith was deeply important to her and guided the way she lived her life.

Margaret will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with everyone around her.

She is survived by three children, Robert Wedel of McPherson, KS, Rebecca Wedel of McPherson, KS, and Austin Ensz of Galva, KS; siblings, Ann Friesen (Jon) of Colby, KS, Carmelita Olson (Bruce) of Fountain, CO, Mark Sander (Tabitha) of McPherson, KS, and Maria Dinkel (Tracy) of Victoria, KS; three grandchildren, Rogan, Elainah, and Travice; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two siblings, Aaron Sander and Gwendolyn Cutsinger.&nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson with Father Michael Kerschen officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery.

Margaret Ann Wedel

Marty Manion, 70, of Salina, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, surrounded by family, friends, and her devoted husband, Jack.

Marty was born on October 9, 1955, in Greenfield, Missouri. She was the beloved daughter of Jan and Leland Rundall. As a young woman, Marty chose to serve her country by entering the United States Army, where she was later honorably discharged. Guided by a deep desire to help others, she pursued a career in nursing, earning her nursing degree from Parkview Nursing School and an Associate Degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Marty showed up for people. Alongside her work as a nurse, she fostered many children and was a devoted mother to her own. During this busy season of life, she also waited tables at Mrs. Peters Chicken, where an unexpected opportunity eventually led her to become the restaurant’s owner. No matter the role she held, Marty stepped in when someone needed help. If someone needed a ride to work, an appointment, or church, Marty was there.

Her love for people was undeniable, but above all else, Marty’s greatest love was for her children, grandchildren, and her husband, Jack. She was adventurous and fearless, never backing away from a challenge. She lived with courage in both sickness and in health, showing that same steady commitment in how she loved and cared for others.In 2001, Marty was diagnosed with breast cancer. While it shaped part of her life, it never defined her. Over the years, she endured many surgeries and medical challenges, including defibrillators, pacemakers, and ultimately a heart transplant. The family remains deeply grateful to the family of Kevin Jacobs, whose heart transplant in September 2014 gave Marty more time with those she loved.

Marty was truly the definition of living with no hate for anyone. Her faith was central to her life and showed in her deep dedication to church. Even during the toughest times, she could often be found greeting people at Emanuel, offering warmth and love to everyone who walked through the doors. There were moments when she had to be reminded to rest, as she was always eager to show up and serve. That same care and respect extended to how she honored her neighbors, her community, and even animals, whom she loved deeply and treated with gentle compassion.

Marty was unique, kind, loving, dependable, hardworking, and deeply dedicated. She was a mother, a grandmother, and most of all, a devoted wife. Her love was like no other. While she may no longer be with us, her presence continues to be felt, watching over those she loved.

Marty was preceded in death by her mother, Jan Rundall; her father, Leland Rundall; her brother, Tom Rundall; her son, Nicholas Ikenberry; her parents-in-law, Jack and Nell Manion; and her sister-in-law, Linda Livengood.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Manion; her siblings Dinah Gleason (Dennis), Jani Rundall, Steve Rundall (Sharon), Jean Christensen (Art), and Karen Foster (Mike); her aunt, Sandra Smith; her children Jaison Travelbee, Travis Shaw, JJ Albarado (Kendra), Nichole Manion, Rebekah Corum (Aaron), and Kaleb Albarado (Kaytryn); and her grandchildren Amethyst, Amber, Jasimon, Jaison, Claire, Bella, Ethan, Colson, Maison, Zack, Kolton, Khloe, Lily, Paisley, Maci, Kinnley, Mavis, Zayla, and Zara. 

Her celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 at Emmanuel Church 1325 E. Cloud St. in Salina, KS.

Irene McCormick, also known by some as Stella, a long time resident of Salina, Ks and Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Ks, passed away on February 11, 2026 at the age of 99.

Irene was born on January 9, 1927 to Jesse and Stella Morrical at the home of her grandparents Jim and Minnie Morrical in rural Lincoln County Ks.&nbsp; Irene grew up on the farm.&nbsp; She attended Logan Grade School, 12 Mile Grade School, Beverly Rural High School, and Culver High School, graduating as salutatorian in 1945. She attended Brown Mackie Business College in Salina. Taking accounting and bookkeeping, which became her profession.&nbsp;&nbsp;Irene worked at Swift &amp; Co., O.K. Webster Jeweler, the First National Bank &amp; Trust, B &amp; J Furniture Store, Anthony's Clothing Store and Sears.&nbsp; After leaving Sears she opened her own custom drapery shop called "Irene's". She was a hostess for Nickerson Farms, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, and Red Coach Restaurant.&nbsp; She worked for Hertz Rental Car and the Koch House. She also worked in the office of the Kansas Highway Patrol and the American Red Cross.&nbsp; Every place Irene worked she received many Certificates and Awards for her excellent work.&nbsp; Irene retired in 2013.&nbsp; Irene is a long time member of&nbsp;St. John's Lutheran Church in Salina where she once taught Sunday School.&nbsp; Irene was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.&nbsp;She served as the Treasurer for the Jolly Mixers&nbsp;Club for 22 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Irene was the President and Woman of the Year of the ABWA Anilas Chapter. She was&nbsp;also a Life Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Irene loved to dance.&nbsp; She was the Jitterbug Queen at Eddie's nightclub in 1948&nbsp;and danced with the Jolly Mixers for over 30 years every Wednesday night. She loved to cook and was known for her strawberry pie, chicken and noodles, deviled eggs, liver and onions and her biscuits and gravy.&nbsp; She also made beautiful coasters and loved to play cards. She loved to travel and visited North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Germany, Italy, and Hawaii. She loved a nice cold red beer.

Irene is survived by 3 children,&nbsp;James and Ann McCormick of Bennington, Ks,&nbsp;Connie and Kerry Gellert of Las Vegas, Nv,&nbsp;Larry McCormick of Salina;&nbsp;3 granddaughters, Mindy and Brandon Pope of Marshville, Nc,&nbsp;Jamie and JP Flynn, of Salina, Kirsten McCormick, Bend, Or;&nbsp;&nbsp;a step-granddaughter, the Honorable Kerreen Gellert Conley of Belleville, Mi; and a step-grandson, John Gellert of Milford, Mi;&nbsp;&nbsp;3 step-great-grandsons, Tristan Gellert, Austin and Carson Conley all of Mi;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;also many wonderful nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The family will welcome visitors on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.&nbsp; A funeral will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salina.&nbsp; Burial will be in Lincoln, KS.&nbsp;

Mary Virginia “Ginny” Zook Bevan, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and family on Sunday, February 1, 2026. She was born in the small town of Flora, Illinois to Kizzie Faye and David Allen Zook on November 18, 1934. The oldest of six children, her family moved to Salina, Kansas when she was in secondary school. Following her graduation from Salina’s Washington High, Ginny went on to complete her degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) from Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) in 1956. While raising three children and working for the Salina School District and KWU, she continued her education and received her Master of Science Degree from Kansas State University in 1965. In 2011, she received an honorary doctorate from KWU.

Working with her father, who founded the Salina Recreation Commission, Ginny became the Director of Playgrounds, reshaping lives through play and leisure activities. The summer program in elementary schools provided activities in all neighborhoods for young and old. Singing, dancing, music, movies, reading, horseshoes, board games, bowling, hopscotch, crafts, campfires, swimming lessons, softball, and baseball . . . concluding each summer with the “Lantern Parade” at the Municipal Swimming Pool.

Dr. Bevan taught in the HPER Department for 40 years, from 1957-97; served as Head Coach in Women’s Track and Field, Tennis, Softball, Volleyball, and Basketball; and held various positions at the university, including Dean of Women and Interim Academic Dean. She was the first woman to be inducted into the Jerry Jones Athletic Hall of Fame (1978). Besides serving the university as a teacher, coach, and administrator, Bevan was a pioneer in the state of Kansas in the field of women’s athletics.&nbsp; She was instrumental in founding (1969) the Association of Kansas Women’s Intercollegiate Sports (AKWIS) to create a system for intercollegiate competition for women athletes.&nbsp; That organization later (1974) changed its name to the Kansas Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (KAIAW) and affiliated with the national organization.&nbsp; As a pioneer, she faced many challenges, especially in funding the program, often supplying equipment and transportation, uniforms and meals, from her own pocket or from money she organized the team members to raise themselves. Bevan held membership and served in leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the Kansas Association for HPER and Dance, the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, the American Association for Leisure and Recreation, as well as the KAIAW, NAIA, ACCK, and AIAW. Honored at Homecoming 2007 for her pioneering work in women’s intercollegiate athletics, Dr. Bevan was described as “a woman who embodies the spirit of KWU.”&nbsp; She shared a lifetime of loyalty and service to her profession and to her alma mater, Kansas Wesleyan University. Her students and colleagues meant a great deal to her.

Ginny’s community service included being an Elder Emeritus at the First Christian Church, officer in PEO and Daughters of the Nile, and the Hospital Service Auxiliary. Ginny was an avid supporter of music, art, dance, and theatre. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, travel, bridge, neighbors, and her “Lunch Bunch.” As a Tri Delta member, Ginny lived out values of truth, self-sacrifice, and friendship each day on her lifelong journey of service, sisterhood, and growth.

Lovingly known as “Mary Gin” by her family, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren, and sister Coni Witters (Dan). She is survived by her children Charla Bevan-Jones (Rick), Michael Bevan (Ruth Anne), and Julie Banning (Kent); her sisters Janey Diaz (Bob) and Kathy Johnson (Jim); brothers David Zook (Hui Yon) and Danny Zook (Rita, d.2025); seven grandchildren, Judah Banning, Joseph Banning (Emily), Lauren Seaber (Cody), Colin Bevan (Nicolette), Jessa Roby (Max), Ian Bevan, and Micaela Jones (Andy Pieratt); five great grandchildren Phinehas Roby, Ginny Seaber, Delphi Roby, Charley Seaber, and Verity Roby, (Andy Seaber is on the way!); and so many beloved in-laws, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A “Legacy of Love” service will be Saturday afternoon, February 14, at 1p, in Sam’s Chapel on her beloved KWU campus.&nbsp; Visitation will begin at 12p. Jeffrey Phillip Smith, 62, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in a local care center.

Mr. Smith was born in San Bernardino, California, and had lived in the Jacksonville area since 2022. He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, Infantry, and participated in the invasion of Grenada, known as Operation Urgent Fury. His military service was a source of honor and pride throughout his life.

Jeffrey was a man devoted to God, Country and Family. His faith remained an important foundation in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Betty Smith; and four brothers, Tuffer Logemann, Bob Kiemel, Gary Kiemel, and Mike Kiemel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kitty Jo Rich; five children, Jessica Mermis, Jennifer Saenger, Brittany Smith (Shawn), Mandy Gunderson (Jeff), and Dusty Sparks; his sister, Tricia Reuther (Trevis); his brother, Patrick Smith (Darla); and his beloved dog, Bragg. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Tyler Billings, McKenzie Billings (Caleb), Dane Shea, KaeLeighAnn Bergman, Lillee Saenger, Jordan Saenger, Alex Kissell,Jayda Gunderson, Dominick Childress (Whitney), Elyjah Fletcher (Trinity), and Malik Sparks; and four great-grandchildren, Bradley Barke, Ayla Moon Kissel, Emery Rose Fletcher, and Kamea Childress, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Debra (Debbie) Ann Brenneman, 72, died on February 10, 2026, after a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer.

Debbie was born on February 20, 1953, in Russell, Kansas, to Orval “Casey” and Velma(Kaufman) Siefers. 

She was the second of four children and grew up in Russell and later in Dorrance, Kansas, where she graduated from Dorrance High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marymount College in Salina and devoted more than 40 years to her work as a clinical nurse.Her patients adored her — and it wasn’t just because she was an excellent nurse. She cared for each one with skill and compassion, and, when needed, just enough gentle humor (and maybe a look) to make them feel completely understood. Debbie never saw patients as just the next appointment; she saw them as friends. Many of those “former patients” never quite stopped being hers, becoming lifelong relationships filled with check-ins, shared stories, and the occasional loving reminder that she was still keeping an eye on them.

Debbie married Greg Brenneman on July 27, 1974. Together they built a life centered on family— first in Salina and later on a farm near Niles, Kansas.

Debbie loved her husband, Greg, and her children, Jody and John, with deep affection — the kind of love that could cheer them on loudly and correct them quietly, sometimes in the very same breath. She showed them what it meant to serve others with humility and heart, teaching far more by example than by lecture. And when a lecture was necessary, Greg, Jody, and John knew it often came with pursed lips, a well-timed eye roll, and a level of directness that left absolutely no confusion about her point… especially when it came to John’s homework.Debbie’s greatest joy was her family — especially her granddaughters, Natalie, Emily, Leah, and Ella. She was fully present in their lives. She could spend hours playing cards on the porch in Columbia, Illinois, with Ella and Leah, never in a hurry to be anywhere else. It wasn’t unusual for her to hand her credit card to Natalie and Emily with a simple, “Go shopping,” trusting them completely and delighting in every story that came home with the bags. She taught all four girls how to cook and bake — especially donuts, chocolate cake, and marshmallows — making sure the kitchen was as full of laughter as it was of flour. She took them on adventures to Disney World, New York City, and the Magic House in St. Louis. She faithfully attended their plays, swim meets, volleyball games, and soccer matches. Debbie made personalized birthday shirts and, of course, more than one personalized quilt for each of them. Her love for her granddaughters was unmistakable — and it lives on in each of them.

Debbie loved to travel, especially when it meant heading off with her sisters. Those trips were filled with long conversations and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. The bond she shared with Susan, Bill, and Mary Kay was strong and enduring — built over a lifetime of teasing, storytelling, and showing up for one another. And while it was well known that Grandma Kaufman had a particular soft spot for Debbie — something her siblings accepted with good-natured protest — there was never any real rivalry. Debbie may have been Grandma’s favorite, but she was equally blessed with siblings who loved her fiercely and never let her forget it.She also loved quilting with her friends, and those multi-day quilting retreats were among her happiest times. Whether a great deal of actual quilting happened remains up for debate — the sewing machines were often outpaced by laughter. Those retreats were filled with long conversations, good food, maybe a drink or two, and storytelling that only improved as the evening went on. Fat quarters and jelly rolls were certainly involved — but more than anything, those days were stitched together with friendship and love.

Debbie was a devoted member of the Women’s Group at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She and her friends worked tirelessly to raise scholarship funds by baking and selling favorites like bierocks and cinnamon rolls — recipes perfected through patience and plenty of shared laughter in the kitchen. They also faithfully prepared and served funeral dinners, quietly caring for grieving families during some of their hardest days. Debbie believed deeply that food, fellowship, and faithful presence were powerful ways to love people well.

Her commitment to Salina Shares reflected that same heart for service. She believed in showing up and giving what she could — not for recognition, but because it was simply the right thing to do. Even as her body was failing her, she was adamant about helping prepare the Thanksgiving meal for the Salina Shares community. That determination captured Debbie’s spirit perfectly. She believed small acts of kindness could restore dignity and hope — and she lived that belief.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Greg Brenneman of the home near Niles; son John (Stacia) Brenneman of Salina; daughter Jody (Tim) McClelland of Columbia, Illinois; four granddaughters, Natalie and Emily Brenneman, and Leah and Ella McClelland; her siblings Susan Thielen of Dorrance, Bill (Julie) Siefers of Plainville, and Mary Kay (Nancy Bolsen) Siefers of Manhattan; and a very special aunt, Joan Weigel of Russell.
