Ronald Merl Bennett, 77, of Woodland Park, Colorado, passed away on September 1, 2025.

Born on November 19, 1947, in Emporia, Kansas, Ronald was the son of Elmer and Opal Bennett and was raised in Ellsworth, Kansas. He was a proud graduate of Ellsworth High School, where he played trumpet in the school band, beginning a lifelong love of music.

Ronald served in the National Guard for six years before embarking on a career in the automotive industry. After living in Kansas and later Kearney, Nebraska, for 14 years, he moved to Woodland Park, Colorado, in 1988. He worked in Colorado Springs as a car salesman before establishing his own business as a wholesale car dealer, a profession he successfully ran for over 30 years.

Ronald was passionate about cars, especially Fords, and was known for always owning a Corvette. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and sharing his enthusiasm for vehicles with friends and family.

In 1968, Ronald married Jana Miller, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage until her passing in 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Misty Smith, and her husband, Greg, of Baker, Florida; his two grandchildren, Lily and Andrew Smith; his son, Scott Bennett, and his wife, Lisa of Dunn Center, North Dakota; and his sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Sandra Donley of Ellsworth, Kansas.

Ronald will be remembered for his love of cars, music, and family, and for the joy and humor he brought into the lives of those who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Wilson on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Ronald Merl Bennett

Mrs. Ruth Elaine Coleman, age 79, of Salina, passed away Friday evening, September 12, 2025, at her residence. She was born April 4, 1946, in Junction City, Kansas, a daughter of the late Phillip and Florence Knisley.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John Coleman, and her sister, Ellen Regnier. Ruth is survived by three sons, Chris Coleman, Kyle (Michele) Coleman, and Keith (Becky) Coleman; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and brother John (Toni) Knisley.

Her passions in life included loving her grandchildren, reading, and serving her Savior, Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ in 1985 and was actively involved in various church activities and Bible studies. She now awaits the arrival of her family and friends in Heaven and would desire all who knew her to join her there.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2025, at CrossRoads Church, 1125 West South St, Salina Ks.

Joseph Vane Hubbard, 72, passed away at his home on March 11, 2025.&nbsp;

Joseph was born December 12, 1953 to Peggy (Hankins) and Gene Hubbard in Vallejo, CA. Joseph grew up in Stroud, KS. He married Sandra Arends October 26, 1980 and raised four children together.&nbsp;Joseph had a passion for history, education, and a case of wanderlust. He was beloved by students for his creative and hands on approach to teaching. He and his wife spent many years traveling; living in and exploring many states and towns.

Joseph was known for his quick wit, anecdotes, and his love for history and children. Anyone who knew him had been told “rub some dirt in it” or “you’re young you’ll get over it” many times. Although he seemed gruff, he was always available with a shoulder, ear, and a solution to any problem.&nbsp;

Surviving family members include: two sons, Andrew (Shannon) Lee Welch of Oklahoma City, OK, and Gerad (LJ) Hubbard of Nagasaki, Japan; daughters Veronica (Andy) Murray, of Abilene, KS, and Meaghan (Karl) Deniston of Solomon; grandchildren, Kaleb Welch, Jakob Welch, Kobe Welch, Khloe Welch, Madeline Murray, MaKenzee Deniston, and Leandra Hubbard; great grandchildren, Jamal Bell, Demarion Bell; sisters, Sharon (Rick) Fingerlin, Janice (Vernon) Bolz; brothers, Darren Hubbard, and Tom (Dayle) Powers. 

He follows his beloved wife Sandra, both parents, and brothers Rick and Steve Hubbard.

Ronald Leroy Conyac, known to many simply as Ronnie, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Salina, Kansas. He was 70.

Born and raised in Salina, Ronnie was the son of Ardyth (Seusy) and Adlore Leroy Conyac. He lived his life with quiet grit and loyalty to those he cared about.

Ronnie is survived by his niece, Tammy Arnold of Salina; great-nephews, Tanner and Les Arnold; cousins, Mary and Noel; and two steadfast friends, Brenda Crowder and Bill Serrault—people who stood by him through thick and thin.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Terry Conyac, and his sister, Elaine Johnson.Ronnie chose cremation, and no formal services will be held.

Ronald Leroy Conyac

Robert Ray Winters, 82, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Born in Caldwell, Idaho, on April 20, 1943, to Audrey (Conant) Winters and Orval Pearl Winters, Robert lived a life rooted in faith, service, and family. After graduating high school at Friends Haviland Academy, he attended Friends Bible College, where he met the love of his life, Mary Beth Sparks. The two were married in Emporia, Kansas in 1965 and shared a devoted partnership for over 60 years.

Robert continued his theological education at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, graduating in 1969. He then dedicated his life to ministry, serving faithfully as a pastor in the Friends Church and then United Methodist Church for the majority of his career. His calling was not only a profession but a lifelong mission to bring others to Jesus.

Together, Robert and Mary Beth opened their home and hearts to the world, hosting 12 international high school exchange students and also placing students as coordinators for over thirty years—leaving a lasting impact on young lives across the globe.

An avid outdoorsman, Robert found joy in hunting deer, pheasant, and any other thing that moved. He had a passion for building and maintaining firearms. He passed his love of fishing on to his grandchildren.Robert and Mary Beth shared a spirit of adventure, traveling to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and almost all of the states but their favorite was Colorado. Each year they took family vacations with their four sons and sometimes a niece, camping, hiking, fishing, and enjoying their time together. They especially cherished time spent in their camper, taking their grandchildren on camping trips that created memories to last a lifetime.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Beth; and their four sons: David Winters (Fenny), Eric Winters (Sheri), Greg Winters (Gloria), and Kelvin Winters. He also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Emma, Alisha, Helen, Sarah, Alexandria, Camlann, Blaine, Nate, Micah, and Evie.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary; and his sister, Sharon.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 20th at First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.

Robert Ray Winters

&nbsp;Gilbert “Gil” Doyle Crocker, age 76, passed away at his home in Salina, Ks on September 11th, 2025. &nbsp;Gil was born in Salina, Ks. at Smoky Hill AFB on February 18th, 1949. &nbsp;His parents were Rolland W. “Slim” Crocker and Alma Maude Fry. Gilbert Crocker married Joan Elaine “Jody” Ikenberry in Salina, KS, at the Marymount College chapel, on August 12th, 1972. &nbsp;They just celebrated their 53rd anniversary together.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gil was a Solomon High graduate, class of 1967. &nbsp;He played some football and basketball for Solomon HS. &nbsp;Gil was a proud union journeyman sheet metal worker (longtime member of local 77). &nbsp;He worked in several towns in Kansas, including at Powell Bros. in Manhattan, Ks. He also traveled and worked in several states during his career. &nbsp;He retired in 2005 at age 56.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;As a child and teenager, he loved building engines and stock cars with his dad. &nbsp;He enjoyed riding motorcycles and competing in endurance motorcycle races. &nbsp;He enjoyed fishing, bowling (including for a league a few years in Manhattan), playing penny poker, get-togethers with neighborhood friends, travelling, barbecuing, and gardening. He liked classic cars and pickup trucks. Star Trek, old Westerns, and actor Steve McQueen were among his favorites on film.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was a fan of NASCAR, Indy, and midget car racing, both on TV and in person. &nbsp;A special trip with his wife was the 2002 Daytona 500, which coincided with his birthday. &nbsp;Gil was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, as well as a K-State football and basketball fan. &nbsp;He loved music and was a drummer for a short time in his youth. &nbsp;He enjoyed classic oldies (50’s and 60’s music, especially Connie Francis), but also classic country (including Slim Whitman). &nbsp;He had a very large 8 track collection of various types of music. &nbsp;Over the last several years, he was rebuilding his 1956 Ford truck, with help from his son-in-law Steve.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gilbert’s surviving siblings are Art Crocker, Cindy (Rich) Ingermanson, and Alean (Damon) Gray. After Slim’s 2nd marriage to Patricia McFarland Post, he became part of a blended family with seven more siblings: Becky Tappendick, Cindy Bonnville, Tobey (Bill) Hemmy, Mike (Ray) Hutson-Post, Stacey Martin (David Smith), and Jeff (Jennifer) Crocker. &nbsp;Rolland F. and Amy Crocker, Ray Tappendick, and Penny Post preceded him in death.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gil is survived by his wife Jody Crocker, daughters Kathryn (Steve) Howton, Karlen M. Crocker, as well as grandsons Kevin Howton, and Colton (Maile) Howton, and his dog, Sparky.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gil will be remembered for his kindness, never-ending sense of humor, patience, hard work ethic, willingness to help family and friends (the Fix-It Guy), his great pride in his grandsons, but mostly for his everlasting love for Jody, and their family.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;There will be no public service, but Gil’s family will have a party in his honor for friends and family on a future date and time (TBA). &nbsp;Memorials can be sent to the American Lung Association, in care of Heier Scott Mortuary and Cremations, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Star Trek, old Westerns, and actor Steve McQueen were among his favorites on film.&nbsp; &nbsp; He was a fan of NASCAR, Indy, and midget car racing, both on TV and in person. &nbsp;A special trip with his wife was the 2002 Daytona 500, which coincided with his birthday. &nbsp;Gil was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, as well as a K-State football and basketball fan. &nbsp;He loved music and was a drummer for a short time in his youth. &nbsp;He enjoyed classic oldies (50’s and 60’s music, especially Connie Francis), but also classic country (including Slim Whitman). &nbsp;He had a very large 8 track collection of various types of music. &nbsp;Over the last several years, he was rebuilding his 1956 Ford truck, with help from his son-in-law Steve.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gilbert’s surviving siblings are Art Crocker, Cindy (Rich) Ingermanson, and Alean (Damon) Gray. After Slim’s 2nd marriage to Patricia McFarland Post, he became part of a blended family with seven more siblings: Becky Tappendick, Cindy Bonnville, Tobey (Bill) Hemmy, Mike (Ray) Hutson-Post, Stacey Martin (David Smith), and Jeff (Jennifer) Crocker. &nbsp;Rolland F. and Amy Crocker, Ray Tappendick, and Penny Post preceded him in death.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Gil is survived by his wife Jody Crocker, daughters Kathryn (Steve) Howton, Karlen M. Kenneth Dean Robinson, known to many people as the “Pork King”, left this world peacefully on September 12, 2025, surrounded by family at Reflections Retirement Resort, Salina, KS.

Ken was born on August 17, 1940, to Alfred Kenneth Robinson and Adeline Pahls Robinson. Ken grew up in Cawker City, KS, the only boy amongst four sisters, and as such, was likely spoiled.

After graduating from Cawker City High School in 1958, Ken went to work for Richardson Manufacturing as a salesman. He had a gift for gab, and never knew a stranger, so being a salesman was a good fit for him. During this time Ken met and married Marie Wagner of Beloit, KS.

While working for Amy Disc Rollers in Dighton, KS, Ken was drafted and entered the US Army. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, from 1965-1967, as a member of the 48th Military Intelligence Group. He was very proud of his military service.

Upon his discharge from active duty, Ken returned to Kansas where he continued working in equipment sales for LESCO in Glasco, KS. After settling in Glasco, Ken and Marie welcomed two children, Stephanie and Ryan. Ken would end up purchasing LESCO and owned it until the 1980’s farming crisis forced the closure of the business.

After the closure of LESCO, Ken went to work for Gayle and Irma Ethridge on their farm. This job led not only to a second career of being a cattleman, as it allowed him to build his own cattle herd, but also to a great friendship which would last years.

In 1977, Ken won the Kansas Pork Cookout King contest at the State Fair with his Made In the Shade Pork Steaks recipe. This win began his love of cooking pork for people, so he enlisted the talents of one of his LESCO employees, Lenny Becker, to build him a cooker on wheels with a spit basket that was large enough to hold a whole hog. Over the years, Ken would cook numerous whole hogs, so many Made In the Shade pork chops that he likely lost count of the number, and pork burgers for clubs and associations, football teams, and weddings and proms. As Ken got older, he often had the help of his son, Ryan, with the cooking. Ken was a proud supporter of the Kansas Pork Producers, and fed many people across Kansas, along with making a trip up into the mountains of Colorado to cook. This is what led to him being known to many people as the “Pork King”.

During the early 1980s, after the dissolution of his marriage to Marie, Ken attended a Father’s Day church service at the Glasco United Methodist Church with his daughter, Stephanie, and enjoyed it so much he became a member. For many years he was a very active participant in the church. He loved singing in the choir, cooking for the men’s breakfasts, and the fellowship offered by all the parishioners.

Around this same time, Ken was introduced to Pauline Thompson Noble by a couple from Scott City who were mutual friends of both of them. Ken and Pauline would marry in 1985 and made their home in Glasco, KS until 2024 when they moved into assisted living at Reflections Retirement in Salina, KS. They were very devoted to each other and enjoyed 40 years together until his passing.

In his later years, Ken spent many hours working on the genealogy of his father’s family and would often walk to cemeteries to find headstones and take pictures of them to upload for others who were doing genealogical research on their own families.

Ken was always quick with a smile and loved to have a hearty laugh with family and friends. He occasionally enjoyed a cold beer and liked to have a nightly glass of Merlot. He was almost always seen in a pearl snap shirt, short sleeved, and in his younger days he would cut the sleeves off for summer wear, along with a pair of cut-offs and his boots. His daughter always joked that Larry the Cable Guy copied her dad.

His family and friends will miss his euphemisms and metaphors, which he was famous for, and the giggling laughter he would get over certain jokes. His “sweetie”, Pauline, will also miss his constant companionship and his unwavering loyalty.&nbsp;

Ken is survived by his wife, Pauline, of the home; his children, Stephanie Schmeck, Salina, KS, and Ryan Robinson, Beloit, KS; his grandchildren, Connor Schmeck, Salina, KS, Paige Delos Reyes, husband Alex, and new great grandson Kai, Lexington, KY, and Kamee Robinson, Hays, KS; sisters Nancy Robinson, Kansas City, MO, Jodi Pepper and husband Gene, West Warren, MA, and Karla Neighouse and husband Jim, Downs, KS; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins; his step daughters, Debbie Tegethoff and husband Don, Washington, KS, Tammy Reed and husband Arlen, Scott City, KS, and step daughter-in-law, Sis (Kathryn) Noble, of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Adeline and Kenneth, his sister DeeAnn Reiter, and his stepson Harlen Noble.

Ken chose direct cremation and requested no service. Eugene “Bud” Louis Trost, 89 years of age, of Aurora, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Sunset Nursing Center in Concordia.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on January 13, 1936, in a farmhouse, in Huscher, Kansas to Harry Louis and Elma Mary (Revell) Trost.

Bud went to Huscher Grade School and graduated from Concordia High School in 1954. After graduation he served in the Army National Guard until he was honorably discharged.

Bud married the love of his life Dixie (Lavoie) on June 04, 1961. Bud and Dixie had 6 children which they loved dearly.

Bud was an active member of the Huscher United Methodist Church.

Bud was able to farm his whole life until he was unable to work. Bud’s greatest&nbsp;&nbsp;passion was his love for animals, especially horses. He often joked that he liked animals more than people.

Eugene “Bud” is survived by his wife, Dixie; and their children, Danny Trost, Jodi (Jeff) Baker, Sheila (Heath) Jackson, Debbie (Reece) Smith, Brian (Janet) Trost, and Brent Trost, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Louis and Elma Mary (Revell) Trost, his sister, Marilyn Trost and granddaughter in law, Crystal Trost.

He chose cremation with no visitation.&nbsp;&nbsp;A family burial will take place at the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, Kansas at a later time.

David Randal Dauber was born on March 20, 1972, in Salina, Kansas. He passed away on September 8, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

David’s passing was due to a medical condition that he lived with throughout his life.

He is survived by his life partner, Terri Stellar, of the home; his grandfather, Elmo Dauber of Salina, KS; his mother, Gayle Swanson, of the home; his father, Danny (Sue) Dauber of Salina, KS; his sister, Courtney (Gill) Carlson of Derby, KS; his son, Denver Dauber, of the home; and his niece, Tycee, also of the home.

Fulfilling David’s lifelong wish to give forward, his donation through the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) enabled the gift of life to others. Through the donation of his kidneys and pancreas, David saved three lives.

Kathryn J. (Shepard) Jones, 74, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She was born August 2, 1951, the daughter of Joe and Delilah (England) Shepard. Kathy graduated from Brown Mackie College, Salina.

Kathy was a custodian at McPherson High School and also worked as a dietician at McPherson Hospital.

Survivors include children, Bart (Mary Anne) Jones of Wichita, KS and Katrina (Jody) Kipp of Elizabethtown, KY; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rubye Slye.

A private family gathering will be held.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kathryn J. (Shepard) Jones

Travis was born on February 11, 1980, and left us far too soon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 45. To all who knew him, Travis was a bright light—his laughter was infectious, and his voice grew increasingly louder, especially when he was talking about his kids, whom he loved more than anything.

From a young age, Travis’s heart belonged to the farm. He was his dad’s shadow, tagging along for chores and climbing onto tractors before he could even see over the steering wheel. When his brother Aaron arrived, Travis gained not just a sibling but a lifelong best friend. Together, they turned the farm into their playground—building forts out of hay bales, wrestling in the loft, and playing with their robust collection of miniature farm equipment, even sometimes letting “Sis” play too. They had many adventures together, and while their ideas weren’t always the best their loyalty to each other was unwavering. Travis was the kind of big brother who always had Aaron’s back, through every high and low.

As he grew older, Travis and his dad shared many early mornings hunting pheasants and deer, memories that became cherished traditions. He later became a hunting guide, hunting birds with his dog Missy, and sharing this love with friends from near and far.

Racing was another passion that ran deep. As a boy, Travis watched Uncle Jeff’s race car compete at the track, dreaming of the day he’d race himself. That dream came true, and he spent countless weekends at local tracks, cheered on by two of his favorite pit crew members—his kids, Hannah and Hunter (lovingly called Harv). Through racing, Travis made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.

Above all, Travis was a devoted father. He adored Hannah and Hunter, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow. He loved taking them out on the tractor and combine, sharing his passion for farming with Hunter and beaming at Hannah’s accomplishments and her radiant smile.

Words can’t capture all that Travis meant to his family and friends. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by his father, Tracy Coop of Portis; his mother Kay Mercer and husband Mike of Edmond, OK; his beloved children, Hannah and Hunter, and their mother Ashley Campbell of Cawker City. Also mourning his loss are his sister Jenae Sherrod and husband Scott of Edmond, OK; his grandmother Bonnie Coop of Osborne; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends and extended family. Travis is preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Coop.

A memorial service to celebrate Travis’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at 10:00am at the United Methodist Church in Osborne, KS.

There will be a luncheon following the celebration of life service at the Sims Event Center and the family would welcome side dish donations be brought.

 </figure>Travis was born on February 11, 1980, and left us far too soon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 45. To all who knew him, Travis was a bright light—his laughter was infectious, and his voice grew increasingly louder, especially when he was talking about his kids, whom he loved more than anything.From a young age, Travis’s heart belonged to the farm. He was his dad’s shadow, tagging along for chores and climbing onto tractors before he could even see over the steering wheel. When his brother Aaron arrived, Travis gained not just a sibling but a lifelong best friend. Together, they turned the farm into their playground—building forts out of hay bales, wrestling in the loft, and playing with their robust collection of miniature farm equipment, even sometimes letting “Sis” play too. They had many adventures together, and while their ideas weren’t always the best their loyalty to each other was unwavering. Travis was the kind of big brother who always had Aaron’s back, through every high and low.As he grew older, Travis and his dad shared many early mornings hunting pheasants and deer, memories that became cherished traditions. He later became a hunting guide, hunting birds with his dog Missy, and sharing this love with friends from near and far.Racing was another passion that ran deep. As a boy, Travis watched Uncle Jeff’s race car compete at the track, dreaming of the day he’d race himself. That dream came true, and he spent countless weekends at local tracks, cheered on by two of his favorite pit crew members—his kids, Hannah and Hunter (lovingly called Harv). Through racing, Travis made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.Above all, Travis was a devoted father. He adored Hannah and Hunter, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow. He loved taking them out on the tractor and combine, sharing his passion for farming with Hunter and beaming at Hannah’s accomplishments and her radiant smile.Words can’t capture all that Travis meant to his family and friends. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by his father, Tracy Coop of Portis; his mother Kay Mercer and husband Mike of Edmond, OK; his beloved children, Hannah and Hunter, and their mother Ashley Campbell of Cawker City. Travis James Coop

Danny Bacon was born on December 28, 1958, at St. Thomas Hospital in Colby, Kansas, to Lloyd “Red” and Ila “Jean” (Lowrey) Bacon. He spent his childhood in Rexford, Kansas, and began 8th grade at Hoxie Grade School in 1972. He graduated with the Hoxie High School Class of 1977.&nbsp;

After high school, Danny worked at Tebo Implement in Hoxie for a year before attending Salina Vo-Tech, where he graduated in 1980 as a diesel mechanic. He was a loyal friend to all—always willing to lend a hand to a classmate or neighbor in need.&nbsp;

In 1981, Danny began working for Western Geophysical, a job that took him around the world. In 1985, he moved to Chanute, Kansas, where he worked at McGuire Implement. He later co-owned Tom’s Automotive, where he specialized in transmission work and restoring old vehicles.&nbsp;

Danny’s career path took another turn in 1997 when he began delivering food for Schwan’s. In 2002, he joined the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in Grainfield, eventually transferring to the Hoxie office, where he remained until his retirement in May 2024.&nbsp;

One of the most memorable chapters of Danny’s life began in 1995 during a hunting trip in Plainville, Kansas. After dining at the Prairie Hotel, he left his phone number for a beautiful waitress named Ronda. A few days later, she decided to call. That call changed everything. Ronda and her daughter Ashley soon moved to Chanute with Danny, and he and Ronda were married on June 19, 1997, at the Assemblies of God Church in Chanute.&nbsp;

Danny and Ronda welcomed two children: Bryce L. Bacon, born July 26, 1997, and Danielle Bacon, born March 23, 2006. The family later moved to Hoxie and purchased the Hoxie Motel. Over the years, the motel welcomed guests from all over, but Danny especially cherished the friendships he made with the faithful hunters from Northeast Kansas. He loved the early mornings, and late nights spent chasing waterfowl.&nbsp;

Though Danny had a deep passion for mechanics, his greatest love was for his family and his Lord Jesus Christ. He treasured every moment spent with them—especially hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids and serving the Lord. Known for his almost exclusive camo wardrobe, it was rare to see him wearing anything else.&nbsp;

Danny was a storyteller with a gift of gab—if he said he needed to talk, you knew to clear your schedule. He never met a stranger, always had a tool to lend, and was known for “collecting everything” because, as he’d say, “you never know when you might need it.”&nbsp;

Danny leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, laughter, and love. He was a man who lived with intention and gave generously of his time, talents, and heart.&nbsp;

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.&nbsp;

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry “Red” and Ila “Jean” Bacon.&nbsp;

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Ronda of the home; children, Ashley Breese and husband Andrew of Topeka, Kansas; Bryce Bacon and Raelyn Kelly- Stone of Hoxie, Kansas and Danielle Bacon of Hoxie, Kansas; sister, Marcy Gilbert and husband Keith of Rexford; grandchildren, Talon and Trace Breese and Serenity.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Hoxie Christian Church, 1025 Queen Ave., Hoxie, Kansas. Visitation will be at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. A lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will follow the lunch at 1:30 PM in the Rexford Cemetery, Rexford, Kansas.&nbsp;

Sammy G. “Sam” Seymore, AKA “Pippin” the Clown, 89, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, with family by his side at Pine Village, Moundridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sam was born April 29, 1936, in Hampton, AR, the son of Curtis and Glenna Seymore. He received doctorate degrees in music and education from University of Montana and Wichita State University.&nbsp; He was a retired Hutchinson Community College music professor.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church, Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, and was a judge for Kansas City BBQ Association. He was also a Master Story Teller and belonged to the Wichita Magic Association. He was an avid pool player, private pilot, and world adventurer.

Survivors include his sons, Steve Seymore and Mark Seymore; grandson, Sean &amp; Kelsi Seymore of Wichita, KS; great-grandsons, Shepherd Seymore and Porter Seymore; and former wife, Charla Seymore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy James Thompson; daughter, Susan Seymore; and former wife, Carolyn Seymore.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Mills officiating.&nbsp; Cremation will follow the service.

Ella Gertrude Kresky of Salina, Kansas passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Ella was very energetic 92-year-old and still living a full and joy filled life from her home at the time of her passing.&nbsp;

Ella was born on January 21, 1933, to Pete and Gertrude Christner on a farm near Lost Springs, Kansas. She was baptized April 6, 1947, in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lost Springs, KS. Living in rural America, Ella grew up on a farm without electricity and indoor plumbing. While growing up, she discovered the life-long hobbies of singing and playing the piano and organ. As an adult, she was a member of the Staccato Notes and the Dizzy Fingers music clubs.&nbsp;

Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Salina, Kansas, where she was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone. She soon met the love of her life, Bob Kresky, and they married in 1953. Life began in a small apartment, moving to a new home in 1958, then another new home in 1960. This home became the family hub for the remainder of Ella’s life. Bob passed away in 1997. Ella and Bob had a remarkable marriage. They were not just husband and wife – they were best friends. Until her last breath, Ella fondly remembered their many trips around North America, visiting 49 states and most of Canada.&nbsp;

Ella and Bob started their family in January 1955. They were blessed with 3 sons. At that time, Ella became a full-time home maker, a role which she proudly fulfilled. She was a Room Mother for all 3 boys during grade school and was involved with PTA from grade school through high school.&nbsp;

As the children progressed through high school, Ella decided to return to the workforce. She worked for 13 years for USD 305 in food service. After that, she worked for Salina Regional Health Center for many years as a cook until her retirement in 2005, at the age of 72. Then, Ella turned her talents to volunteering at the Information Desk until 2020. Many among us have either eaten her cooking or have been greeted by her happy smile at Salina Regional.&nbsp;

Ella was very involved in her church, working funeral dinners and Wednesday night suppers into her 90’s, as well as having served on the Fellowship Committee. She also enjoyed crocheting and being a part of the TLC prayer groups. Ella’s strong faith and her involvement brought much joy to her life.&nbsp;

Ella had many hobbies throughout the years. Besides those already mentioned, she also enjoyed oil painting and ceramics. She was a voracious reader and, of course, she greatly enjoyed keeping up with her friends – even when COVID pushed her to learn Facebook and Zoom.&nbsp;

Ella was known for her positive attitude, helpfulness, being accepting and kindhearted. Her energy and spirit were known to many. Her joyful presence will be sorely missed.&nbsp;

Family was a constant theme throughout Ella’s life. She was the glue that held us all together. She had a sympathetic ear for all. Christmas Eve is THE holiday for the Kresky family, with all gathering together for Ella’s legendary chicken noodle soup. This was followed by attending church service.&nbsp;

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 1997, her parents Pete and Gertrude Christner and her brothers Harold Christner and Leroy Christner.&nbsp;

Ella is survived by her 3 sons, Steve (Debbie) Kresky, Tim (Kathy) Kresky, and Dana (Kari) Kresky, her grandchildren, Courtney (Zack) Kempke, Ryan Kresky, Brandon (Leslie) Kresky, Melissa Kresky, Jacob Kresky, Connor Kresky and great grandchildren Christina Kempke and Thomas Kempke, Mackenzie Kresky, and Robyn Kresky, a brother Wendel (Debi) Christner, many nieces, nephews and friends.&nbsp;

Susan Gay Sterling, age 73, entered into rest while surrounded by her children on September 8, 2025, at the Plaza West Regional Health Center, Topeka, Kansas. She was born September 10, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas to Frank and Mary Ann Pfister

Susan graduated from Clifton High School. Susan also went on to graduate from Cloud County Community College, Concordia, Kansas.

She married Kale Sterling on Nov. 27, 1989, in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015.

She was a member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church. She worked as a case manager at Pawnee Mental Health, retiring in 2016.

Susan enjoyed watching her kids wrestle, play ball, and horse riding, going for walks, and tending to her vegetable garden. Most of all, she loved spending time with her loving grandchildren.

Susan also went on to graduate from Cloud County Community College, Concordia, Kansas.She married Kale Sterling on Nov. 27, 1989, in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015.She was a member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church. She worked as a case manager at Pawnee Mental Health, retiring in 2016.Susan enjoyed watching her kids wrestle, play ball, and horse riding, going for walks, and tending to her vegetable garden. Susan Gay Sterling

Leslie Louise Christopher—better known to all as Lisa—was born March 31st, 1954, to George H. Clark and Ruth (Ellis) Clark in Pasadena, California.

From the very beginning, Lisa’s name carried a story. Her brother Chris, at 2 ½, couldn’t say his “L’s”. Their parents took pity on him and began calling her Lisa (“Yisa” for Chris) before they had even left the hospital.&nbsp;

Lisa was raised in a tight-knit, loving Christian family filled with warmth, joy, and deep faith. She credited her father’s listening ear and thoughtful insights as instrumental in shaping her spiritual life.

Some of her fondest childhood memories included family camping trips—exploring, fishing, canoeing, hiking, singing in the car, and making her dad laugh so hard he had to be put to bed. She especially cherished evenings around the campfire, listening to her father’s “Well, Sir” stories, each beginning with his signature phrase: “Well, sir…”

As a child, Lisa fell in love with Shirley Temple movies, sparking a lifelong desire to learn tap dancing—a dream that would take many years to fulfill.

In high school, Lisa focused on creative writing and art. Her senior year marked her first foray into drama, landing a role that gave a boost of confidence and ignited her passion for performance.

Around this time, she met Jim Christopher, a smiley, handsome Air Force lieutenant from Kansas, at church, and was swept off her feet, leading to a combined high school graduation and engagement party.&nbsp;

They married on May 5th, 1973, and lived in California through the remainder of Jim’s military service. Their first child, April Marie Christopher, was born in 1974. When Jim went on inactive reserve in 1976, they moved to Kansas to begin taking over the family farm.

At that point, Lisa’s only associations with Kansas were the dismal black and white landscapes depicted in The Wizard of Oz. When asked how Jim convinced her to leave California, she replied, “I had so many hearts in my eyes I would have followed him anywhere.”&nbsp;

That same year, they had their second child, Aaron James Christopher. And four years after that, they had “one more just for fun”, Adam Ross Christopher.&nbsp;

Lisa inspired self-expression, imagination, and wonder in her children. She played with them daily and lamented the arrival of the school bus—her “big yellow monster”—that took her playmates away.&nbsp; She was instrumental in instilling in them a deep appreciation for silliness through her own offbeat sense of humor, as well as classics such as Stan Freberg’s "United States of America" and the parody music of Spike Jones.&nbsp;

Amidst raising three young children, Lisa became involved in Lindsborg’s community theater program, Broadway RFD. It was there, in rural Kansas of all places, that she finally fulfilled her lifelong dream to learn how to tap dance. She performed in numerous productions, taking on both leading and supporting roles. She also became an avid Shirley Temple impersonator and was known as Miss Enthusiasm at annual Covenant Women’s retreats, serving as a comedic icebreaker for speakers.

Lisa later served as the assistant director and then director of theater at Smoky Valley High School for 25 years, building lasting bonds with many of the students. Additionally, she directed several Broadway RFD productions, inspiring and deepening a love of theater in countless others.&nbsp;

Together, Lisa and Jim served as church youth leaders for various age groups, with a special fondness for high schoolers. They continued sponsoring their church’s high school youth group long after their own children had graduated. A highlight of this ministry was the annual ski trips to Colorado—adventures brimming with laughter and lifelong memories.

In 1991, in addition to being a member of the Lindsborg Swedish Folkdanslag with Jim, Lisa became the dance director of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers, a role she would continue for twenty years. She traveled with the group on their annual cross-country trips and to Sweden every four years, trips she treasured deeply for the opportunity to see places she might never have otherwise visited.

In her later years, Lisa developed a passion for genealogy, meticulously mapping her and Jim’s family ancestry. She became an avid scrapbooker and hosted scrapbooking parties with dear friends several times a year. She also gifted her time to TACOL thrift store, where she quickly built strong friendships with the other volunteers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Throughout her life, right up to the very end, Lisa exuded a joy and exuberance to all around her, including family, friends, acquaintances, and total strangers, fueled by her unwavering faith in the love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In her final days, Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, care, support, and mountains of food from so many across her community.&nbsp; She reflected:&nbsp; “You just don’t realize the impact your life has had on others' lives.&nbsp; You don’t realize how many friends you’ve made in your life until they are all coming at once, wanting to see you, wanting to do whatever they can. It is a profound blessing.”&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, and father, George.&nbsp; She is survived by her brother, Chris; her husband, Jim; her children, April, Aaron, and Adam; and her grandchildren, Ariel, Anders, Annika, and Yma.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Lindsborg Covenant Church.&nbsp; The memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 20, at the Lindsborg Covenant Church with Rev. Jeff Waugh officiating.&nbsp; A private graveside service will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Patricia Lynn (Maddy) Mitchell of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 10, 1940, in Norton, Kansas, Patricia lived a life marked by compassion, service, and a love for adventure.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband,&nbsp;Erwin Mitchell, whom she married on October 30, 1964; her son,&nbsp;Douglas Mitchell; her parents,&nbsp;Lloyd and Lorraine (Ervin) Maddy; and her brother,&nbsp;Ronald Maddy.

She is survived by her loving children,&nbsp;Teri Mitchell&nbsp;and&nbsp;Bradley Mitchell; her son-in-law,&nbsp;Zell Woodworth; and four grandchildren.

Patricia earned a&nbsp;Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State University&nbsp;and went on to dedicate her career to serving others. She worked for many years as a social worker before becoming the&nbsp;Director of KVRC (Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation Center), where she helped individuals find hope and opportunity through vocational support.

In addition to her professional work, Patricia was a volunteer and advocate for senior citizens in the Salina area, always willing to lend a hand or a kind word.

Patricia had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She loved&nbsp;fishing, camping, and&nbsp;traveling in her RV with her beloved dog,&nbsp;Molly. A proud and active member of&nbsp;RVW (RVing Women), she explored much of the United States, making friends and creating lasting memories along the way.

Patricia also enjoyed riding her Harley and was a member of the&nbsp;Salina Harley Club, enjoying the thrill of the open road with the same passion she brought to every part of her life.
