Betty Jean (Nelson) Isaacson, 97, left this world, November 3, 2025, in the company of five generations. (daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and great-great grandson, among others.) She was born at the family farm on October 17, 1928, to Clarence Nelson and Elva (Frost) Nelson. Unfortunately her mother died nine days later and as an infant and toddler, she was shuffled to various relatives occasionally while her father was busy keeping the farm going. Eventually, she was taken in by her maternal grandmother for a few years. Clarence would visit her every chance when he had some spare time, usually on Sundays. When she was about eight years old, Clarence married Elva's younger sister Selma Frost. Selma had been helping raise Betty and knew Clarence and also knew Betty needed a permanent mother. The love and bond Betty had with Selma remained unbreakable for the years that followed.

Betty married Melvin Robert Isaacson on February 9, 1947, and they shared 52 years together. Their marriage was honored with their three children; daughter Carol Ann, and sons, Vaughn Lee and Stanley Alan. She was the prototypical farmer's wife. Caring and providing for her family as well as helping in the fields when needed. She was never afraid of hard work and was an accomplished seamstress. She had a flair for home decorating and household handyman chores as well. She even built a "false" fireplace/mantle for the living room and reupholstered furniture "to make it last". Betty loved her Church and music, singing in the choir and an occasional solo performance. Self-taught for the most part, she enjoyed playing hymns on her piano and organ. It served as her own private communion with her Lord. Through it all, she remained humble and unpretentious. But when one of her brood was "wronged" the "mother's wrath" was something to experience!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, her parents, her sister, Lola, daughter-in-law, Mary Kathryn Isaacson, and great granddaughter, Lucia Larson

Though Betty had always been a good, smart, and quick learner, with a sly and keen wit, throughout school and her extended life, she did have three "F"s to live with and by ... Faith, Family, and Farm!

The family holds in their hearts the hope that Betty may, at last, be united with the mother she never got to know. 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will be in the Salemsborg Lutheran Church Cemetery, Salemsborg, KS. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday November 6, 2025, at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 6 pm that evening.

Betty Jean (Nelson) Isaacson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of&nbsp;Gregory Steven Kasper, age 68, on November 3, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on July 29, 1957, in Salina, Kansas, Gregory was the beloved son of Esther and Wallace "Wally" Kasper. He was a cherished brother, devoted father, and proud grandfather.

Greg grew up in Kansas, where he began his lifelong career at Dillon's in1973 at the age of sixteen and later became the general store manager for many Dillon’s locations. His dedication and hard work led him to a successful career that spanned many years until his well-deserved retirement. Even after retirement, Greg took on a part-time role as a security guard with Spirit Airlines.

On October 22, 1988, Greg married Sheri Nelson, and together they welcomed two beautiful children, Norman and Emma. The joys of fatherhood brought immense happiness to Greg’s life, and he relished every moment spent with his children.&nbsp;

Greg enjoyed golfing and hunting, often spending most of his free time outdoors. He was also a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, sharing memorable moments with friends and family every season.

He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn "Jacque" Kasper of Tucson, Arizona; his children, Norman Kasper of Abilene, Kansas (spouse Alyssa), and Emma Kasper of Salina, Kansas; and his beloved grandchildren, Maura Newton, Aubree Kasper, and Charlotte Kasper.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Wally Kasper; and brother, Michael "Mike" Kasper, whose memory lived on in the hearts of those who knew them.

A funeral service will be held at Ryan Mortuary on November 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Greg's life and legacy.&nbsp; There will be a private family burial at a later time.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the hospital staff at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita for the compassionate care they provided to Greg in the last weeks of his life.&nbsp;

Gregory Steven Kasper will forever be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the love he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends for years to come.

James E. “Jim” Agin died November 1, 2025.&nbsp; He was born February 16, 1943, in Salina, Kansas to Harold F. and Agnes E. (Curry) Agin, who both preceded him in death.&nbsp; He married Sally S. White in 1972 in Indianapolis, IN.

Jim grew up in Salina, Santa Ana, CA, Tulsa, OK, Lubbock, TX, Topeka, KS and then back to Salina where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School.&nbsp; He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then earned a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in business from Fort Hays State University.

He was a health care administration senior executive and CEO and health insurance CEO.&nbsp; He co-founded, managed and served on the boards of several health and technology related organizations and companies.&nbsp; During his career, he and his family lived in Indianapolis, IN, Topeka, KS, and Lincoln, NE before he and his wife retired to Salina in 2010 to be near family.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved music, wrote several songs and played several musical instruments, including saxophone for numerous bands in his younger days.&nbsp; He enjoyed supporting the Jayhawks, Wildcats, Chiefs and Royals, and the challenge of playing golf.&nbsp; He enjoyed reading – especially historical biographies.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his sister Janette Gilchrist and BINL Frank Gilchrist.

&nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons: Robert (Kim), and Scott (Kjersten Feyerherm); two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He is also survived by his nephew, Lance Gilchrist (Alison); niece, Carrie Gilchrist (Nils-Petter Ankarblom); step-mother, Arlene Sias-Agin; step-brother, Pete Sias (Ruby), and step-sister Kathleen Kelly.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Ellen Lee (Daws) Deegan, 77, died November 1, 2025, peacefully at her home in Milford, KS. She was born March 15, 1948, in Salina, KS to Clifford Merle Daws and Genevieve Mae (Arnold) Daws.

She married Victor Alan Deegan on June 4, 1966, in the base chapel, Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Ellen was a homemaker. She was especially talented at designing, hand stitching, and hand quilting handmade quilts—a lost art. All types of sewing were her passion.

Ellen is survived by her devoted husband Alan Deegan of Milford, KS; her son, Shaun Alan (Suzanne) Deegan of Milford, KS; her daughter, Erin Janae (Deegan) Saiz of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters, Ella Mae (Daws) and Terry Behrendt of Wichita, KS., and Karen Kay (Daws) Thayer of Salina, KS; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Clifford Daws and Genevieve (Arnold) Daws, and a brother Terry Dean Daws.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Committal Shelter at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley/ Manhattan, KS., 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd. Manhattan, KS 66503. Pastor Ronnie Roberts will be officiating.

A luncheon will be served following the services in the fellowship hall at First Christian Church, 1429 St Mary’s Rd., Junction City, KS 66441.

Ellen Lee (Daws) Deegan

Delos James “Jim” McMindes was born on March 17, 1933, in Canisteo, New York, to Ephraim and Estella McMindes. He passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jim lived a long and remarkable life—one marked by service, curiosity, laughter, and love. He proudly served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, retiring at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1974 after a distinguished career built on dedication and integrity. Following his naval service, Jim pursued his lifelong fascination with the earth and its wonders, earning a bachelor’s degree in geology from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. He used his geological expertise to locate prime drilling sites for oil wells across Oklahoma and Texas before returning once again to government service at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California, where he worked as a naval engineer on nuclear submarines. His steady leadership and quiet precision earned deep respect from all who worked beside him.

Jim was a man of faith who lived each day with kindness, humility, and gratitude. Together for 54 years with his beloved wife,&nbsp;Carolyn, he built a home filled with love, music, laughter, and devotion—to family, church, and community. After Carolyn’s passing in 2006, Jim was blessed to find love again with&nbsp;Eleanor Tangeman McMindes, whom he met at an AARP meeting in Hays, Kansas. They married on July 5, 2008, and in 2017, were honored with the&nbsp;AARP Ann Garvin Award for Excellence in Community Service, recognizing the heart for others that defined their lives together.

A talented artist and skilled leather craftsman, Jim poured care and creativity into every piece he made. He had an incredible ability to fix anything—whether it was a machine, a painting, or someone’s spirit. His contagious laugh, gentle humor, and generous heart made every room he entered a little brighter.

Jim found beauty in life’s simplest pleasures—humming his favorite tunes, watching the birds outside his window, tinkering with a small project, or simply sharing quiet time with family. He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and cats, who always seemed to sense his gentle spirit and find their way to him.

Above all, Jim was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved.

He passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.Jim lived a long and remarkable life—one marked by service, curiosity, laughter, and love. He proudly served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, retiring at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1974 after a distinguished career built on dedication and integrity. Following his naval service, Jim pursued his lifelong fascination with the earth and its wonders, earning a bachelor’s degree in geology from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. He used his geological expertise to locate prime drilling sites for oil wells across Oklahoma and Texas before returning once again to government service at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California, where he worked as a naval engineer on nuclear submarines. His steady leadership and quiet precision earned deep respect from all who worked beside him.Jim was a man of faith who lived each day with kindness, humility, and gratitude. Together for 54 years with his beloved wife,&nbsp;Carolyn, he built a home filled with love, music, laughter, and devotion—to family, church, and community. After Carolyn’s passing in 2006, Jim was blessed to find love again with&nbsp;Eleanor Tangeman McMindes, whom he met at an AARP meeting in Hays, Kansas. They married on July 5, 2008, and in 2017, were honored with the&nbsp;AARP Ann Garvin Award for Excellence in Community Service, recognizing the heart for others that defined their lives together.A talented artist and skilled leather craftsman, Jim poured care and creativity into every piece he made. He had an incredible ability to fix anything—whether it was a machine, a painting, or someone’s spirit. His contagious laugh, gentle humor, and generous heart made every room he entered a little brighter.Jim found beauty in life’s simplest pleasures—humming his favorite tunes, watching the birds outside his window, tinkering with a small project, or simply sharing quiet time with family. He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and cats, who always seemed to sense his gentle spirit and find their way to him.Above all, Jim was devoted to his family. Delos James “Jim” McMindes

Richard Michael “Mike” Tyner, 45, of Salina, KS, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born in Salina on December 27, 1979.

Mike grew up in Salina and graduated from high school in Stafford, KS. He spent time as a warehouse manager for companies in Salina and McPherson and worked at Tony’s Pizza. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending as much time as he could with his son and grandkids.

Survivors include his parents, Diane Nemechek and Richard D. Tyner; children, Jasmine Tyner, Daisey Tyner, Lilly Tyner, and Daxton Tyner; grandkids, Oliver, Leo, Elijah, Emiliano, and Esmi; sister, Amy Tyner; niece, Lexi Sneary; and nephew, Gavin Tyner.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Charlotte Nemechek, and George and Vernedine Tyner.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Mike was a big Royals and KU fan, and the family encourages everyone to wear the team colors or their favorite jersey in his honor.

Richard Michael “Mike” Tyner

John H Koster, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away September 27, 2025, at the Kansas Soldiers’ Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 76. The son of Jack and Ruth Koster, John was a lifelong resident of Cawker City, KS, until moving to the Kansas Soldiers’ Home at Fort Dodge, KS, in October 2024. He was born December 28, 1948, in Beloit, KS, attended St. Theresa’s Academy through 8th grade, and graduated from Cawker City High School in 1967. He then attended North Central Kansas Vo-Tech School, Beloit, KS, earning his certificate in Farm Mechanics in 1968. In November of the same year, at the age of 19, John was inducted in the U.S. Army. After completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, John served at Ft Hood, TX, before serving a tour in Viet Nam from Dec 2, 1969 to November 1, 1970. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Private First Class. John was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and served in the honor guard for many years. After being discharged from the army, John spent over 40 years maintaining roads and doing equipment repairs &amp; maintenance for the Cawker City, Walnut Creek, Carr Creek, and Glen Elder Townships in Mitchell County. John also enjoyed being involved in small farming interests over the years.

John is survived by his partner Val Redinger, Cawker City, KS; two sisters: Marla (Allan) Fisher, Garden City, KS; Debbie (John) Thomas, Fowler, KS; 4 nieces, Allison (Aaron) Douglass, Garden City; Emily Burns, Owatana, MN; Lacey Fisher, Olathe, KS; Jacqueline Thomas, St Petersburg, FL; and 8 great nieces and nephews. His family remembers him enjoying riding horses, going fishing, gardening, supplying food and safe haven for stray animals, and working with machinery of all types. He especially enjoyed welding. John’s love of animals remained his passion to the end.

Kala Ann Woodruff, 63, Minneapolis, died Friday, October 31, 2025, at her home. Kala was born May 25, 1962, in Kansas City, MO and was adopted by Robert G. and Beverly A. (Pogue) Woodruff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Kala was a 1980 graduate of Minneapolis High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and helped with their Rockin' God's Kids program every Wednesday afternoon.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Survivors are her mother, Beverly Woodruff; daughter, Shawna (Will) Radke; son, Bobby Williamson; brother, Garron (Janelle) Woodruff; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born on September 24, 1965, in Killeen, TX, the son of Roy Leon and Wanda Marie (Rounds) Wash.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1984 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kansas State University.&nbsp; On September 30, 1995, Mark was united in marriage to Beth Anne Wheeler in Prairie Village, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Hayden, Adison, and Zachary.

Mark built his career with Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Company, but his true passion was music.&nbsp; A gifted drummer, he &nbsp;performed with several bands including the Twisters, the Phaetons, the Wild Ones, and most recently, Petty Cash. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include three children, Hayden Wash (29) of Lawrence, KS, Adison Wash (25) of Denver, CO, and Zachary Wash (23) of Lawrence, KS; his father, Roy Wash of McPherson, KS; a sister, Rowena Heart of McPherson, KS; former wife, Beth (Eric) Sweet of McPherson, KS; and many extended relatives and friends.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Wash, and grandparents, Hazel &amp; Jasper Rounds and Irene &amp; Elvin “Skeet” Wash.

Mark Alan Wash

Jamie L (Hofts) Woolley was born March 9, 1948 in Concordia hospital to Glenn and Phyllis Hofts. She grew up in the small town of Republic, graduating from high school in 1966. Following graduation she continued her education at Kansas Wesleyan University with a degree in Radiologic Technology. She married Mike Woolley on February 19, 1972 at the Dispatch Church.

She worked for many years as an x-ray technician at Osborne Memorial Hospital. Jamie’s outreach and serving of others also carried over into her becoming a home health provider for many residents of Osborne .

Jamie was an accomplished musician and and regularly shared her talents at both the Osborne and Republic United Methodist Churches. She played for many weddings and funerals in the North Central Kansas area for nearly 60 years. She was very involved with her local church (Osborne United Methodist)and participated in many aspects as a volunteer.

Jamie enjoyed exercising including walking, hiking, and most importantly bicycling. She completed multiple Bike Across Kansas events. One of her proudest accomplishments was spending 10 days hiking and high country wild camping in the Sierra Nevada mountains in her 60’s.

Jamie was a proud mom of her son, Terran. She and her husband, Mike, enjoyed camping for many years everywhere from Colorado in the 1970’s to making the trek to Glacier National Park in the last 5 years. If the mountains were in the windshield, Mike and Jamie were happy!

She loved Vizsla dogs after growing up with her beloved Vizsla Scout. She owned two in her adult life that were her constant walking companions.

Jamie was a true caregiver and provided faithful care to her parents in their later years. She adored her role as Aunt Jamie to her many nieces and nephews, but particularly cherished her relationship to her niece Allison and her young son Oliver, forever known to Jamie as “Little Man”.

Jamie was a huge KU Jayhawks fan and had a wide variety of game time traditions and rituals that she was certain could affect the outcome of a game.

Jamie was a woman of strength, faith, and resilience. Quitting was never easy for her and it definitely was not easy for her at the end of her life. Unfortunately, her body ran out of fight on Tuesday October 28 at the Osborne Memorial Hospital.

She leaves behind husband, Mike, Osborne, KS, son Terran (Tina), McPherson, KS, brother Tom (Laurie) Hofts, Plant City, FL. Allison (Thomas) Spurgeon, Hays, KS. Many beloved nieces and nephews.

One of her proudest accomplishments was spending 10 days hiking and high country wild camping in the Sierra Nevada mountains in her 60’s.Jamie was a proud mom of her son, Terran. She and her husband, Mike, enjoyed camping for many years everywhere from Colorado in the 1970’s to making the trek to Glacier National Park in the last 5 years. If the mountains were in the windshield, Mike and Jamie were happy!She loved Vizsla dogs after growing up with her beloved Vizsla Scout. She owned two in her adult life that were her constant walking companions.Jamie was a true caregiver and provided faithful care to her parents in their later years. She adored her role as Aunt Jamie to her many nieces and nephews, but particularly cherished her relationship to her niece Allison and her young son Oliver, forever known to Jamie as “Little Man”.Jamie was a huge KU Jayhawks fan and had a wide variety of game time traditions and rituals that she was certain could affect the outcome of a game.Jamie was a woman of strength, faith, and resilience. Quitting was never easy for her and it definitely was not easy for her at the end of her life. Unfortunately, her body ran out of fight on Tuesday October 28 at the Osborne Memorial Hospital.She leaves behind husband, Mike, Osborne, KS, son Terran (Tina), McPherson, KS, brother Tom (Laurie) Hofts, Plant City, FL. Darline Delores Hill, age 87, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025. &nbsp;She was born January 6, 1938, to Lloyd and Alice "Pat" (Winsel) Campbell in Beloit, Kansas.

Darline attended Abilene High School and later Northeastern Oklahoma State University. &nbsp;Darline was a loving mother that raised six children. &nbsp;She led an interesting life with many career explorations. &nbsp;She was co-owner of an independent welding company, a bail bondsman and recovery agent, Wedding cake decorator and Phillips Lighting Warehouse worker. &nbsp;After retiring from Hawker/Beechcraft she enjoyed spending as much time as possible in her RV at Kanopolis Lake. &nbsp;She was a very creative person and loved crafting, jewelry making and cake decorating.

Darline is survived by her six children, Debra (Rick) Weber, Terry (Nicki) Shry, Becky (Anthony) Chaffin, Jeanna (George) Plante, Bill Graves and Lonnie (Karen) Graves, 17 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grand daughter and one great grandson.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Sunday, November 9, 1:30 p.m., at the Abilene City Cemetery with a celebration of life immediately afterward at the Abilene Senior Center.

Anita Jolene (Owens) Beckman passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 30, 2025, at the Salina Regional Health Center. She was born on February 1, 1953, in Quinter, Kansas, to Ralph and Sarah (Gross) Owens. Anita’s family moved to Scott City, then to Quinter, and eventually settled in Hoxie, Kansas, in the early 1970s. She graduated from Hoxie High School with the Class of 1971. During high school and after graduation, she worked at Getz IGA.

In 1971, Anita married Wes, and they were blessed with one son, Travis. The couple later divorced.

On August 20, 1977, Anita married Stuart Beckman, and together they recently celebrated 48 years of marriage. Anita and Stuart were blessed with two more sons, Brandon and Brent, and raised their three boys on the family farm, where they lived until their recent move to Hoxie.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Anita worked hard alongside her husband on the farm—driving grain carts, raising bottle calves, and caring for the animals she loved, especially her horses. She was a wonderful cook known for her delicious sandwiches, chili, and especially her famous meatloaf. Above all, Anita loved her family deeply and was always there to support them.

Anita also shared her talents as a coach for golf and volleyball in the Hoxie school system. She was an avid and skilled golfer, a member of the Hoxie Golf Club, and served on its board.

A faithful member of Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Seguin, Kansas, Anita served her parish as an organist and a member of St. Ann’s Sodality. She lived her faith with quiet strength and unwavering devotion, serving her Lord in every way she could.

Anita was a kind and gentle soul. Though she faced years of health challenges, she always greeted others with a warm smile and made everyone feel valued and loved. Her courage, positivity, and grace through adversity were an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her smile, kindness, and caring heart will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those she touched.

Anita is survived by her loving husband, Stuart Beckman of Hoxie, KS; son Travis Spillman (Malaina) of Show Low, Arizona; sons Brandon Beckman (Tisha) and Brent Beckman of Rexford, Kansas; sisters Carol Mick and Audrey Moss (Rick) of Hoxie, Kansas; and nine grandchildren.

David Milton Smith, 77, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Dave was born February 7, 1948, in Denver, CO, the son of Albert Milton and Ila Rae “Pat” (Vernon) Smith. Dave attended Alameda High School in Lakewood, CO, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.

On November 21, 1969, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Fisher. Together they shared 55 years of love, laughter, and partnership.

Dave began his career with Union Pacific Railroad in 1970, serving as an engineer and train master until his retirement in 2008. Following retirement, he continued to serve his community as the dedicated lounge manager for V.F.W. Post #2715, where he was a life member.

He was known for his steadfast work ethic, quick wit, and the enjoyment he found in spending winters in Texas among friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara of the home; a son, James “Jimmy” Smith of McPherson, KS; a sister, Pauline Bradbury of Surprise, AZ; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Larry Smith.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at a later date at V.F.W. Post #2715.

Travis Gary Meads, 37, of McPherson, KS, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

He was born on May 18, 1988, in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of Kevin K. and Linda L. (Baumann) Meads. Travis graduated from Prairie View High School in LaCygne, Kansas.

He worked as a tow truck driver for Dacus Auto Body and was employed as a welder and truck driver for Wabtec.

Travis had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time riding his ATV, camping, and snowboardng. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing baseball and football, and shared a special bond with his dogs.

He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Linda Meads of Humble, TX; his brother, Kevin Trenton Meads of Humble, TX; loving aunts, uncles, cousins &amp; extended relatives; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary and Bonnie Meads and Donald and Myrna Baumann, and by an uncle, Russel Baumann.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 3, 2025, at Freedom Chapel, 1064 14th Avenue, McPherson, KS, with Pastor Rustan Foster officiating.

Jane Ellis Colwell, 92, of Hutchinson, KS and formerly of Leawood, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson.

She was born on September 28, 1933, in Concordia, Missouri, to Curt and Vera Ellis.

Jane graduated from Leavenworth High and went on to earn both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Kansas. She dedicated 30 years to teaching all at Raytown Junior High School.

On June 3, 1958, Jane was united in marriage to Gerald Colwell at Brenner Heights Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. The couple spent most of their married life in Johnson County, Kansas.&nbsp; Jane and Gerald shared 67 years of marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jane and Gerald shared a love for travel and the Kansas Jayhawks, taking memorable trips to many final fours, bowl games and the Maui Invitational Tournament in Maui, Hawaii.&nbsp; Jane also enjoyed reading, putting together puzzles and playing cards. She was a member and Past President of P.E.O. Chapter IY in Raytown, MO.

Jane is survived by her husband, Gerald Colwell, her niece-in-law, Angela (Chris) Hoffhines and two great nieces-in-law, Leah (Boone) Heston and Emily (Cody) Gentry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Vera Ellis and brother-in-law, Park Colwell.

Jane Ellis Colwell

Michael "Mike" Porter, 82, passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2025, in Salina, Kansas. 

A lifelong resident of Salina, Mike was born on April 26, 1943, in Hays, KS, the son of Jerry and Margaret (Dillon) Porter.

Mike graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Throughout his working years, Mike held many varied jobs, but was a true salesman at heart. Mike spent many years selling cars before continuing his professional journey at Blue Beacon.

Mike married the former Melva Ann Prather, on Feb. 6, 1965, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina. They shared 61 devoted years of marriage together. Together they raised two children: Mark (Jennifer) Porter and Michelle (Dave) Cooper. Mike took immense pride in his family and found great joy in watching it grow. He was a loving grandfather to Madison (Max) Pattillo, Kayson (Bradley) Durrett, Seth (Emme') Porter, Shane Porter, Jacob Cooper, and Rylie Cooper. His legacy continues through his great-granddaughter Reese Pattillo. Mike is survived by his brothers Doug (Mary) Porter, Danny (Dianna) Porter, and his sister Joanie (Dennis) Base and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Tom (Marilyn) Porter.

In his healthier years, Mike embraced the outdoors and cherished time spent hunting, fishing, golfing, and relaxing at the lake. Above all else, his favorite moments were those spent with his grandchildren—sharing stories, laughter, and love that will be remembered for generations.

Mike will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, and the love and devotion he shared with his family. Mike’s life was marked by dedication to family and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud., Salina. There is a visitation Sunday Nov. 9th at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, from 4-8 pm. 

The family will receive friends after 6 pm with a Vigil/Rosary starting at 7 pm that evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in care of the Ryan Mortuary.

The family is very grateful to his nurses and caregivers at Interim Hospice for all of the love and support with his care.

Anita L. (Bessette) Budreau, age 88, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;Anita was born on October 21, 1937, in Concordia, Kansas to William and Lillie (Beauregard) Bessette.&nbsp;

She was a 1955 graduate of Concordia Catholic High. On May 25, 1959, she married Ronald “Tiny” L. Budreau at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He preceded her in death on May 24, 2017.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union 4 children were born, Cindy, Danny, Tina, and Brenda.&nbsp;

Anita retired from Radiology Consultants and later worked for USD 333 in the school cafeteria where she loved greeting all the kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She later attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Clay Center.&nbsp;

Her hobbies included: cross stitching quilts for her kids grandkids and great-grandkids.&nbsp; She was an incredible canner and loved canning all the vegetables that Ron grew and later canning jelly with her grandkids.&nbsp; When visiting her son and grandkids in Iowa catching the biggest bass was something she always bragged about.&nbsp; She loved spending time with family and attending all her families different sporting events. She never missed a game, rain or shine and would often travel with family to out of town games. Her greatest joy in life was being with her kids and grandkids.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survived by her 4 children, daughter, Cindy Barrett, Scandia, KS.; son, Danny Budreau (Julie), Cedar Falls, IA.; daughter, Tina Torgler, Wichita, KS.; daughter, Brenda Siebold (Randy), Clay Center, KS.; sister-in-law, Emma Budreau, Jamestown, KS.; brother, Jerry Bessette, Topeka, KS., 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 new great-grandchildren to arrive this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Tiny” Budreau, parents, William and Lillie Bessette, sister, Pat Hamel (husband Dean), sister-in-law Linda Bessette.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Michael Floyd Asbridge, 61, of Salina, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center. Mike was born on November 1, 1963, in Salina to Connie J. (Aills) and Gerald S. “Jake” Asbridge Sr.

Mike worked for Loux Home Improvement which was owned by his grandmother LeeElla Esse and Arthur J Loux during his teenage years. Then he worked for Ballou Construction, Salina, Midwest Siding, Salina, Don Keeler Construction, Salina, and Tony Pizza, Salina. As with his siblings, Mike also worked for LA Hacienda, Salina. Mike was a jack of all trades and would help anyone with a job that needed done.

Having met the love of his life in 1994, eight years later in 2002, he married his love, Candace Charles. During their 31-year love-relationship, Mike and Candy by a daughter, Stephanie M. Asbridge; son, Michael Asbridge, all the home; survived by a daughter, prior to his marriage, Felicia Horting (Devon) and grandson, Forest Horrting, all of Salina; his mother, Connie J. (Aills) Asbridge Wilson, of Salina; step-mother, Janis Poskey, of Washington, IL; grandmother, Betty Aills, of Salina. Mike also had a great love for his siblings, Douglas S. Asbridge, of Salina, LeeElla (James) Vittoe, Laura L. Asbridge, all of Salina, and Jera Lynn (Tegan) McCullough, of Washington, IL, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of many friends.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Jerry “Jake” Asbridge Sr.; grandparents LeeElla Esse, Alvin and Winnifred Burch, Lester Aills, and Ray Asbridge; brother, Allen “Blaine” Reed Asbridge; brother, Jerry S. Asbridge; and sister, Winifred K. Hall.

Mike is a member of Ray Ave Baptist Church, of Salina, which was started by his uncle Dr. Bob Aills who also precedes him in death.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday October 31, at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Ray Ave Baptist Church, with his brother Douglas S. Asbridge officiating, along with Pastor John Day.

Margaret Ann Bergstrom, age 89, of Courtland, KS, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on August 2, 1936, in Concordia, Kansas to John Rae and Alice (Moore)Hefner.

Margaret was a graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She married Elden Bergstrom, on June 3, 1956, at The Baptist Church, Concordia.&nbsp;&nbsp;He preceded her in death on May 27, 2018.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union three children were born, Larry, Terry and Kevin.

She enjoyed sewing, camping, traveling, attending craft shows, and was an avid KSU sports fan where she was a season ticket holder for over 30 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Margaret most of all loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was a cook for many years in the Courtland school system.&nbsp;&nbsp;She went on to work and retire from the Jamestown State Bank in Jamestown where she was a Teller.

She is survived by her two sons, Terry Bergstrom, Courtland, Kevin Bergstrom (Heather), Wamego; her grandchildren, Erik Bergstrom, Dea Bergstrom Novak (Mark), Danielle Haskett, Brett Bergstrom, Cade Bergstrom &amp; Carli Bergstrom; 13 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gloria Bergstrom, sister-in-law, Della Hefner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elden Bergstrom, parents, John and Alice Hefner, son, Larry Bergstom, grandson-in-law, Lancyio Haskett, brother, William “Bud” Hefner, sister, Mary E. Smith (Glenn).
