Geoffrey C. Shafer, 68, of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by family at his home.

He was born February 14, 1957, in Tribune, Kansas, the son of J.F. and Marj (Simpson) Shafer. His family later moved to Hutchinson, where Geoff graduated from Hutchinson High School.

On October 19, 1984, Geoff was united in marriage to Beth Ann Wiederstein in Lindsborg, Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with love, service, and family.

Geoff had a diverse and accomplished career. He worked as a truck driver, proudly earning a one-million-mile accident-free certificate. He was also the owner and operator of Shafer Construction and later served as supervisor of gas services for American Energies. Geoff was a man of many talents and could fix just about anything. He especially loved woodworking and time spent outdoors at the family cabin.

A man of deep faith, Geoff was an active member of Galva Community Church. Over the years, he served in many roles including Sunday School teacher, chairman of trustees, lay leader, and liturgist. He and Beth were also active in the Galva Senior Center, where they regularly prepared meals for the local volunteer fire department on behalf of the Senior Center. Geoff also enjoyed playing pool with friends at the Canton Senior Center.

Above all, Geoff cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Papa,” and found his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren. He had a gift for making people smile and often said that bringing joy to others brought joy to him.

Geoff’s kindness, craftsmanship, faith, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife Beth Ann Shafer of the home; a son, Chris (Shawna) Shafer of McPherson, KS; two grandchildren, E.J. Shafer of Salina, KS and Naomi Shafer of McPherson, KS; siblings, Debbie (Bob) Updegraff of Hutchinson, KS, Tim (Kim) Shafer of Abilene, KS, and Jerry (Donna) Shafer of Hutchinson, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and church family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, September 8, 2025, at Galva Community Church.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 9, at Galva Community Church with Pastor Michael Miller officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Empire Cemetery.

Vicki Timson, age 71, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 4, 2025. She was born on September 23, 1953, in Denver, Colorado, to Maxine and James Thompson, and was lovingly raised by her stepfather, Fred Lawrence.

Though Vicki never attended college, she earned countless of her own qualifications throughout her life, listed by most qualified… google doctor, meteorologist, detective, politician, veterinarian, mechanic, lawyer, top Life360 user, professional bingo and slot player (she never missed the chance to take a girl’s trip to the casino, the slots miss her dearly)—but above all, she was the boss. 

In all seriousness, she was a skilled dog trainer. She spent countless hours with her beloved collies, guiding them to win numerous shows. Many will also remember “Mrs. Timson” as the cherished lunch lady at Meadowlark Elementary, where she worked for years while raising her daughters. Beyond her work, she was an extraordinary cook whose meals always left people wanting more. She passed down her passion for cooking and baking to her children and grandchildren, ensuring her legacy will live on through us. 

Above all else, her greatest achievement was being a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She always put her family before herself, and even with her final words, she made sure we knew that she loved us and said, “that’s the most important thing.”

Vicki was preceded in death by her mother, stepfather &amp; father, Maxine &amp; Fred Lawrence, Jim Thompson as well as her siblings Judy Taylor, Marty Childres, Kitty Scott, and Steve Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Bob Timson; her brother Tommy Thompson (wife Debi Thompson), her sister/niece Deb Davis, her daughters, Michelle Timson and Tina Livingston (husband Jeff Livingston); and her grandchildren, Gage Livingston (fiancé Brandi Vinyard), Gabi Livingston and Morgan Phillips.

Her wit, sarcasm, and sass will forever remain in our greatest memories.

Alma L. Christenson, 97, Tescott, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was born Alma Louise Wilson on January 11, 1928, to Ben and Cora (Dupes) Wilson.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 She lived her life in Tescott and graduated from Tescott High School in 1947. She married Clyde Christenson on January 4, 1948. They were happy to celebrate 62 years of marriage before his death in 2010.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Alma always grew a large garden and raised baby chickens each spring. She was the secretary at the Tescott High School for many years. She also worked as the office clerk at the Tescott Cheese Company and was known as the “Tescott Cheese Lady.”&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Alma was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, their church council, and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She and Clyde loved dancing with the Sunflower Polka Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; daughter, Cathy; siblings, Sidney, Averill, Laura, Gladys, Cora, Delia, and Marie.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Survivors are her children, Constance (David) Worley, Chris (Sheryl) Christenson, and Carma (Dave) Pauley; son-in-law, Dan Reavis; grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Smith, Matt (Sarah) Christenson, Sarah Reavis, Lisa (Andy) Kohn, Andrew (Ashley) Worley, Amanda (Merek) Holtzinger, Erin (Josh) Wood; and Kyle Pauley; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Julian, Hayden, Brooklyn, Blake, Ray, Jo, Tucker, Cameron, and Becca Spain (ward of Matt and Sarah; sister, Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. 

A celebration of Alma’s life will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Tescott. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott.

Vernon Lee Winter, son of John P.&nbsp; and Annie (Lowen), was of the first generation to be born in the U.S. (March 5, 1939) upon his grandparents (Karl and Wilhelminia) immigrating from Ukraine to the Hillsboro, KS area. Vern grew up a farm boy and attended Lehigh High School where he was a four-year letterman in fast-pitch softball, basketball, and baseball, earning recognition as a formidable pitcher with a feared curveball.

Vern married his high school sweetheart, Janice Elaine Warkentin, in 1959. Together, they navigated life for over six decades, raising two sons, Douglas and Bryce, and building a legacy of faith, family, hard work, service to others, and enjoyment of all that is good in life.

Vern and Janice started their working lives together by performing Civil Service for two years at Lincoln General Hospital in Nebraska.&nbsp; Upon returning to Kansas, Vern developed his expertise in auto body work. For over two decades, Vern managed shops in Hillsboro and McPherson. In 1985, Vern and Janice founded the Vern Winter Body Shop in McPherson. For more than 30 years, they used their business to support and serve others in the community, as well as travelers. He was always generous with his time and knowledge, helping people through the stressful challenges that come with car accidents. Vern's compassion, reliability, and hard work became a lifeline for many in their times of need.

Vern loved the outdoors, and he ensured that passion was passed on to his boys, providing them with many treasured memories. Summer weekends and vacations were filled with boating, skiing, fishing, running trot lines, and group camping at Kansas lakes and in Colorado with friends and family. With the coming of fall, sloughs and fields were walked with his dog to hunt for pheasant and quail.

With his first two grandchildren being boys, Clay and Zach, it was only natural that Vern would plan hunting, fishing, and camping trips with them as well. He was also their biggest, most loyal supporter in countless youth basketball games. Also leading the memories with Grampa will be the outlandish, fantastical “chicken stories” he told them.&nbsp; Vern finally got to have little girls in his life with the coming of Gabrielle and Aubrey. Grandpa was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, yet he could often be found playing with dolls alongside his two granddaughters. Vern and Janice were dedicated followers of the girls in their many sports and academic events.

When the girls stayed with them, he and Janice loved having the girls ‘help’ them at the body shop. He helped teach each girl how to drive. All the grandchildren were blessed to have grandpa get them their first car. He loved, cherished, and supported his grandchildren.

Known for his humor and light-hearted antics, Vern would always turn family gatherings into a memorable event, often teaming up with his beloved sister Genny for laughter-filled, boisterous celebrations. Those who knew Vern will remember both his fun-loving nature and his deep, abiding compassion.

A devout Christian, Vern was active in the Mennonite Brethren Church during his early years in Hillsboro and later in the First Baptist Church of McPherson, setting a lasting example of faith and service for all who knew him.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Genevieve Abrahams, Delford Winter, and Adella Geortzen. He is survived by his beloved wife Janice, sons Douglas (Pam) and Bryce (Amy), and his grandchildren (Clayton, Zachary, Gabrielle, and Aubrey) and great grandchildren (Ozzy, Colt, Nessa, Natalie, and Juliet) who will always cherish his legacy. Vern will be remembered as a man of honesty, compassion, and fun-loving spirit; a devoted husband, father, grandpa, friend, and neighbor. His loving presence and unfailing support will be missed by all who knew him. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26

Burial will be at Lehigh Cemetery at 9:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 at First Baptist Church (FBC) of McPherson on Thursday, September 11. The family invites friends and loved ones to a Celebration of Life Luncheon at 11:30 in the FBC Fellowship Hall to honor Vern's memory by sharing stories and laughter as he would have wished.

Ruth Marie Drown, died on August 31, 2025, at the Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation in Minneapolis, KS. 

She was born in Randolph, KS to Carl and Naomia (Gassert) Bulk on February 17, 1937. 

Ruth grew up in Riley County. She attended Belgrade, Sweet Creek, Cleburne and Bala Schools. Ruth graduated from Riley Rural High School. She married Duane Drown on July 8, 1956. They made their home on a farm in rural Lamar, KS. Ruth worked hard alongside her husband milking cows and taking care of other duties on the farm. She kept busy gardening and canning her produce. In 1995 they moved to Salina, KS and Ruth worked as a dietary aide at College Park and the Salina Presbyterian Manor, where she retired. 

After retiring Ruth volunteered at the Presbyterian Manor and the Salvation Army until 2020. Ruth enjoyed sewing, needle point and quilting. One of her quilts even placed in the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Duane; sons, Gail and Dale Drown; brothers, Royce, Bob and Don Bulk; sister, Dorcile Moon; granddaughter, Jennifer.

Ruth Marie Drown

James Herman “Jim” Rohloff, Sr., 81, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Jim was born in Woodbine, Kansas, on November 11, 1943, to Nancy Valentine (Hird) and Wilbert Henry Rohloff. After high school, he served his country as an infantryman in the United States Army. Following his military service, Jim spent most of his working life as a dedicated truck driver, traveling the roads with pride and purpose.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing and visiting the casino. He was known for always giving a helping hand.

Jim is survived by his life partner, Marie Collins; two sons, Joey "Joe" Rohloff (Susie) and Jeffrey Rohloff; and two brothers, Jerry Rohloff (Dixie) and Gary Rohloff. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy Jr.; and his sister, Carol Clements.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.

James Herman “Jim” Rohloff, Sr.

Alice C. Goddard, age 75, of Jamestown, KS, passed away on Sep 4, 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on March 11, 1950, in Concordia, KS to Clifford Francis &amp; Edith Luella Emma (Currie) Sallman.

She graduated from Concordia High School in 1969. She later graduated from Cloud County Community College with a degree in Nursing.

She married Chuck Streeter, and they had 2 sons, Justin &amp; Derek.&nbsp;&nbsp;She later married Ronald Goddard in 1978 and had a daughter, Molly. He preceded her in 2015.

Alice worked as an RN for St. Joseph Hospital, Cloud County Health Center and later Park Villa Nursing Home and Beverly Healthcare.&nbsp;&nbsp;Nursing and helping people was her passion, starting as a candy striper. She taught many CNA classes during her tenure. She retired in 2012 from Cloud County Health Center.

She was an avid quilter and enjoyed tatting, jewelry design, writing poetry, and operated her own T-Shirt business for some time. She loved to dance, watch old westerns and America’s Got Talent. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and brought her joy on a daily basis. She could always lighten the mood with her unique sense of humor.&nbsp;

She is survived by her children, Justin Streeter (Christy), El Dorado, KS; Derek Streeter (Kari), KC, KS &amp; daughter, Molly Thoman (Jarod), Jamestown, KS; sisters, Phyllis Shanks, Marilyn Lowell (Rodney “RJ”), Fran Trost (Larry) all of Concordia and Ruth Gardner, Topeka; brother in law, Bill Valcoure (Lisa), Concordia; 11 grandchildren &amp; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Richard Frank Eggers, 75, passed away at Sunset Home in Concordia, Kansas, on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1949 in Agra, Kansas to Edmond Frank and Betty Irene (Palmer) Eggers.&nbsp;

Richard attended Stockton High School in Stockton, Kansas, graduating in 1967. He studied diesel mechanics at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;

While attending CCCC he met Linda Dusek. They married in 1971, and to this union three daughters were born, Lory, Holly, and Julie. They later divorced.&nbsp;

Richard worked for many years for the City of Belleville as a Municipal Power Plant Operator. He later worked for regional KDOT offices as an Equipment Operator, and retired in 2014.&nbsp;

Richard married Joyce Carter in 1999, where they lived in Ellsworth, Marquette and Salina, but later divorced.&nbsp;

He enjoyed all things horses: breeding registered American Quarter Horses and Paints, exhibiting in halter shows, and trail rides. He loved dancing, pie time at the Kravemore, Louis L’ Amour books, and cheering for K-State athletics.&nbsp;

Richard is survived by his daughters, Lory Allison (Lane) of Overland Park, KS, Holly Eggers of Belleville, KS, and Julie Kreiner (Nick) of Springfield, VA; granddaughters, Bethany Allison and Sydney Allison; siblings, Bob Eggers, Ron (Dana) Eggers, and Debbie Schellinger.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Betty Eggers, sister Shirley Desaire, and brother Terry Eggers.&nbsp;

Pamela June (Edwards) Parks, 69, of Gypsum, Ks, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at home. She was born Sept 3, 1956, in Tyler Mn., to Doug and Eva Edwards.

She is survived by: her husband Stan Cox, daughters, Mary Harbor, Gena Lambert, Michelle Aleen Coca ; and son, Cody Parks ; &nbsp;grandchildren; great grandchildren; her brother Scott Edwards; and nephew Blake Proberts.And brother in laws Tim Cox and David Cox and sister in-law Denni Beebe

JoAnn Loree Roy, 89, of Salina, KS, formerly of Stockton, KS, passed away on September 1, 2025, at Pinnacle Park in Salina. She was born on September 20, 1935, in a two-story farmhouse north of Plainville, KS, to Ellis and Ada Louise (Sites) Wolcott.&nbsp;

JoAnn grew up in Plainville and at a young age lost her mother when she passed away in 1938 after the birth of JoAnn’s sister, Janice. From then on, she was lovingly raised by her father and her aunts, Lenna McCune and Leona Bice. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1954.&nbsp;

On May 17, 1954, JoAnn married Clifford Roy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, KS. They first made their home in Plainville before moving to Albuquerque, NM, where Cliff worked in construction. His career later took them to Wichita, Manhattan, and Wilson, KS. In 1964, they settled in Smith Center and established their own business, Roy’s Crane and Dozer Service. More than two decades later, in 1987, they moved the business to Rooks County, where they purchased a farm and built their home. For over 50 years, JoAnn was a devoted partner in the business - managing the books, helping move equipment, and lending a hand wherever she was needed.&nbsp;

JoAnn had a passion for collecting, especially crocks, pink depression glass, oil lanterns, and antique furniture. She enjoyed gardening, attending auctions, refinishing antiques, reading, watching westerns, and listening to Elvis and all country music. She was deeply patriotic, always displaying the American flag and filling her home with Americana décor. JoAnn delighted in her family’s activities, from sporting events to square dancing with Cliff in their younger years. She had a special love for Christmas decorations and fourth of July fireworks, often sewing handmade flags for her grandchildren’s birthdays. Her grandchildren fondly remember donut runs to Alice’s Bakery during visits to Grandma’s house. Every family member also had a favorite meal or dish she prepared, with dumplings, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, pancakes, and her banana pudding dessert topping the list of most-loved recipes.&nbsp;

JoAnn is survived by her children, Doug Roy of Rose Hill, KS, Tracy (Claudia) Roy of Salina, KS, Corey (Gail) Roy of Norton, KS, Paris (Gerald) Bremer of Otterville, MO, and Gina (Barry) Brooks of Smith Center, KS; brother, Larry (Cynthia) Wolcott of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Piper Simons, Sean (Krista) McIntire, Katharine (Ashton) Draper, Bethany (Spencer) Shirk, Christian Bremer, Megan Bremer, Paige Brooks, Grady (Lindsey) Brooks, and Louis (Payton) Frazier; 10 great-grandchildren, Kloie Simons, Dean Simons, Charlie McIntire, Griffin McIntire, Clara Draper, Calvin Draper, Eleanora Shirk, Mabel Shirk, Solomon Shirk, and Parker Frazier; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; brother, Eddie (Leah) Wolcott; and sister, Janice (Manuel) Cortez.&nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2:00PM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be before the service on Friday, 11-1PM at the funeral home in Stockton.&nbsp;

JoAnn Loree Roy

Mary Lou Crawford, 97, passed away August 30, 2025. She was born April 13, 1928, in Tescott, Kansas to Chester “Clyde” and Margaret “Maggie” Chambers. 

After graduating from Tescott High School in 1946, she attended Brown Mackie School of Business. Mary Lou married Cloyde Dent of Brookville on October 17, 1948. Together they raised two children, a son, Darvin and a daughter, Lu Ann. On August 17, 1978, she married her second husband, Roland Crawford (d. 1991). 

Mary Lou worked as a clerk for Wilson Livestock and Beverly Sales Company livestock auction and was a secretary for Century 21 Wilson Realty. For several years she sold real estate for Realty Associates and was the office manager for George Johnson Real Estate. She was an excellent seamstress, making her own pant suits and her kids’ clothes. She designed and knitted many sweaters and baby blankets for her family, and prayer shawls for the elderly. 

Mary Lou was a charter member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina, a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, and Sisters of the Heart quilt group. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Marion Clay Chambers and Harold Chambers, her sister, Maxine Hogarty, her son-in-law, Kevin Watts, and her great- granddaughter, Kodi Ann Fuller. 

She is survived by her son, Darvin Dent (Mary); daughter, Lu Ann Watts; grandson, Colter Dent; granddaughters, Ryley Wimer (Michael) and Ashley Fuller (Brandon); great grandchildren, Ryder and Collin Dent, Korbin and Denton Fuller, Blayke and Bronson Wimer.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday September 8, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. A fellowship and luncheon will follow at the Tumbleweed, 5680 W Old Hwy 40, Salina.

Robert W. “Bob” Gould, 91, of Salina, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Kenwood View Nursing Home. &nbsp;

Mr. Gould was born Robert Wesley Gould to Ed and Gladys Gould on January 3, 1934, in Ainsworth, Nebraska. &nbsp;He spent most of his younger years in Ronan, Montana, moving to Salina in 1952. &nbsp;He was in the Army 1953-1955 and served in Korea. &nbsp;He and his wife, Delores were married November 13, 1955. &nbsp;He was an electrician for 40 years with International Brotherhood of Electrical workers, working for Webb Johnson Electric, 31 years, &nbsp;Swander Electric and DRCL Electric. &nbsp;Following retirement in 1996 he worked part time for Waters True Value.&nbsp;

He was a member of Heartland Worship Center A/G serving on the Church Board and Sunday School staff for several years. &nbsp;He was a former member of Saline County Rod and Gun Club and Cross Roaders Camping Club. &nbsp;All his life, Bob’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents, Ed and Gladys Gould; brothers, Paul Gould, Aubrey Gould, and Don Gould; sisters, Naomi, and Esther; and two granddaughters. &nbsp;

Survivors include his three sons, Michael Gould (Amanda), of Corpus Christi, TX, Robert E. Gould (Mandy), of Loveland, CO, and Wesley Gould (Darcie), of Salina; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two step grandchildren. &nbsp;

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina.&nbsp;

Robert W. “Bob” Gould

Eugene Alexander, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August, 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, on October 5, 1949, Eugene was the son of Alberta (Payne) and James Alexander, Jr. After completing his education, he proudly served in the Army National Guard. He later dedicated many years to working in maintenance at Salina Regional Health Center.

Eugene found joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching Salina Liberty games, bowling, fishing, and sharing stories from the past with his family. His love for sports was matched only by his love for his grandchildren, whom he delighted with thoughtful gifts on holidays and just because.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Theresa Newell; three daughters, Farrah Evans, Roslynn Outland-Jones (Larry), and Wendy Alexander; one son, Jemarcus Alexander; and siblings Aretha Alexander, Willie Mae Alexander, James Alexander, Richard Alexander, Robert Alexander, Henrietta Alexander, Annette Alexander, John Alexander, Carl Alexander, and Donna Alexander.

Eugene also leaves behind seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth and storytelling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leon Alexander.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas.

Vicki Lynn Reiter, age 72, of Concordia, KS, died Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her home in Concordia, KS. &nbsp;She was born on June 14, 1952, in Ashland, KS to Victor L. &amp; Evelyn M. (Zwonitzer) Bohling.

Vicki graduated from Concordia High School in 1970 and then graduated from Cloud County Community College and received her RN from Beloit Vo-Tech. &nbsp;She worked as a registered nurse and director of nursing for Heartland Care Center, Belleville, KS, Home Health Care Services, Wichita, KS and later for the pharmacies in Concordia.

She married James “Jimmy” Reiter on March 17, 1984, in Concordia, KS. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on January 3, 2020.

Vicki enjoyed being at home or loved spending time at their cabin at Lovewell Lake along with their friends. Vicki loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles but most of all decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween.

Anita Ann Shull, 88, of Salina, passed away on August 31, 2025. She was born in Gypsum, Kansas, on March 1, 1937, to David and Edna Mae (Elliott) Base.&nbsp;

Anita was a life-long member of the Salvation Army and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She worshiped at The Salvation Army for 50 years, serving as a Home League Secretary, League of Mercy Secretary, and Sunday school teacher. In her later years, Anita also attended the Salina Seventh-day Adventist Church.&nbsp;

She married James Shull on June 20, 1965, in Salina, and together they built a loving family. Anita cherished her family and the time they spent together. She also deeply valued her friendships and enjoyed crocheting.&nbsp;

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, James Shull.&nbsp;

She is survived by her son, David Shull; daughter, JaNita Meyers; sisters, Elsie Clark and Mary Brewer; and brothers, David Donald Base and William H. Beardsley. Grandchildren James Shull, Joslynn Shull, Jonathan Shull, and Anjoelina Bonilla.&nbsp;

Anita Ann Shull

Kathleen Louise Krier, 77, of Roxbury, Kansas, passed away Sunday August 17 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.&nbsp;

Kathy was born to parents Armond Newell and Ruby Newell, on August 3, 1948 on their family farm just outside of Damar, Kansas. She grew up there along with her 12 brothers and sisters until moving into Damar when she was four years old. After she graduated from Damar High School in 1966, she moved to Hays, Kansas to attend Sydney’s Beauty School.&nbsp;

Following her time in Hays, Kathy moved to Salina where she began working at Westinghouse (Phillips Lighting). She was an employee there for over 40 years, meeting her husband Gary at a summer company picnic, catching his attention in her bright yellow hat. They were married on May 5, 1973 in Damar, Kansas and enjoyed 52 years together. Through thick and thin, together they raised two sons, Scott Krier (Michelle Nelson) of Salina and Nick (Megan) Krier of Olathe.&nbsp;

In addition to her husband, she also met many of her dear, lifelong friends at Westinghouse. These special friendships carried her through the hard days of work and provided immense joy outside of it. Kathy was known to lead many celebrations for her friends at work, bringing food and decorations for a birthday or&nbsp;anniversary.&nbsp;

Kathy’s greatest passion and pride were her family and friends as well as being a part of the Salina community. Kathy enjoyed volunteering at her son’s numerous school events as they were growing up, being in the classroom every chance she could. She was also a Den Mother to both of her sons throughout their years in Scouts. They always knew that if Mom was available, she would be there and more than happy to help with anything that was needed.&nbsp;

Kathy’s faith led her to also donate her time to countless church events and activities, including selflessly teaching CCD classes, throughout her years.&nbsp;

After their boys left home, Gary and Kathy embarked on a new adventure. They returned to their childhood roots, moving back to the farm in Roxbury to enjoy the quietness and freedom of country life. They've lived there for the last 29 years.&nbsp;

Kathy is survived by her husband Gary, sons Scott (Michelle) and Nick (Megan), grandchildren Derek (Megan) Krier, Kelci Krier (TJ Hall), Kendall Krier, and Colin Krier, and great-grandchildren Blakesley, Charlotte, and Teighann.&nbsp;

Siblings and in-laws: Delores Newell, Lyla Newell, Martha and Bill Nero, Irma Laurin, Ron Dougherty, Linnea Newell, Bernard and Cynthia Newell, Theresa Thompson, and Vincent and Cindy Newell.&nbsp;

 </figure>Kathleen Louise Krier, 77, of Roxbury, Kansas, passed away Sunday August 17 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.&nbsp;Kathy was born to parents Armond Newell and Ruby Newell, on August 3, 1948 on their family farm just outside of Damar, Kansas. She grew up there along with her 12 brothers and sisters until moving into Damar when she was four years old. After she graduated from Damar High School in 1966, she moved to Hays, Kansas to attend Sydney’s Beauty School.&nbsp;Following her time in Hays, Kathy moved to Salina where she began working at Westinghouse (Phillips Lighting). She was an employee there for over 40 years, meeting her husband Gary at a summer company picnic, catching his attention in her bright yellow hat. They were married on May 5, 1973 in Damar, Kansas and enjoyed 52 years together. Through thick and thin, together they raised two sons, Scott Krier (Michelle Nelson) of Salina and Nick (Megan) Krier of Olathe.&nbsp;In addition to her husband, she also met many of her dear, lifelong friends at Westinghouse. These special friendships carried her through the hard days of work and provided immense joy outside of it. Kathy was known to lead many celebrations for her friends at work, bringing food and decorations for a birthday or&nbsp;anniversary.&nbsp;Kathy’s greatest passion and pride were her family and friends as well as being a part of the Salina community. Kathy enjoyed volunteering at her son’s numerous school events as they were growing up, being in the classroom every chance she could. She was also a Den Mother to both of her sons throughout their years in Scouts. They always knew that if Mom was available, she would be there and more than happy to help with anything that was needed.&nbsp;Kathy’s faith led her to also donate her time to countless church events and activities, including selflessly teaching CCD classes, throughout her years.&nbsp;After their boys left home, Gary and Kathy embarked on a new adventure. They returned to their childhood roots, moving back to the farm in Roxbury to enjoy the quietness and freedom of country life. They've lived there for the last 29 years.&nbsp;Kathy is survived by her husband Gary, sons Scott (Michelle) and Nick (Megan), grandchildren Derek (Megan) Krier, Kelci Krier (TJ Hall), Kendall Krier, and Colin Krier, and great-grandchildren Blakesley, Charlotte, and Teighann.&nbsp;Siblings and in-laws: Delores Newell, Lyla Newell, Martha and Bill Nero, Irma Laurin, Ron Dougherty, Linnea Newell, Bernard and Cynthia Newell, Theresa Thompson, and Vincent and Cindy Newell.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by parents Armond and Ruby Newell, mother-in-law Kaye Krier, siblings and in-laws: Ernest Newell, Alvin and Louise Newell, Mary Ann and Frank Dinkle, Eunice and Robert Hamel, Norm Newell, Jerry Laurin, Josephine Dougherty, Don Newell, Brenda Newell, and V. Ray Thompson. Funeral service for Kathy is Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 am at St Mary's Catholic Church in Salina, Ks, with a 10:30 am rosary preceding the service. Kathleen Louise Krier

Jeanice Mullen, 103, of Salina, KS, joyously entered the presence of the Lord at 1:15 a.m., Monday, September 1, 2025,at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, KS. Jeanice lived a long, independent, fulfilling life with MANY happy celebrations that included her precious family and friends. And even in her death, she was able to leave this earth for her Heavenly home on her terms, with the love and support of those SHE had loved and supported.

Jeanice was born in Beverly, KS on July 31, 1922, daughter of Glen and Visa Percival. Jeanice attended grade school through junior high in a one-room schoolhouse named Spring Creek in Beverly, KS. She later received her high school diploma in 1940 from Beverly High School. Jeanice Mullen was united in marriage to Keith Mullen on September 21, 1940.

The young couple established their first home together on the Mullen farm. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Jerry, Jeannette, Kay and Ed. Jeanice and her husband, Keith, spent most of their lives in Ada, KS where they raised their children on the family farm and later moved into town. Keith and Jeanice were very active members of the Ada community and together they ran the local “Station” for many years.

In 1976 Jeanice and Keith moved to Salina from Ada, KS after selling their farm. Jeanice and Keith became active members of the First Church of the Nazarene, Salina, KS. Jeanice remained a vital part of the church for the remainder of her life. &nbsp;Jeanice dearly loved Pastor Jon Fillipi, the other pastoral staff and the congregation at the First Church. She fondly talked about many of them and considered them a part of her family.

Jeanice was a homemaker, a farmer’s wife, worked at Honorbuilt, a realtor and a clerk at Dillons along with many other roles over the years. After Keith’s death in 2001 she became a proud volunteer at Salina Hospice and remained a volunteer with hospice until she was 90 years old. She was known by all that knew and loved her for being a hard worker, sharp, loyal, strong-minded, sassy, and someone who never knew a stranger. One of her favorite past times was watching her favorite team, KU. She loved her Jayhawks and Bill Self. She never missed an opportunity to watch her team play and if you stood outside her house, you could easily overhear her “coaching her team.” Jeanice was passionate about those she loved and their activities. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were blessed recipients of her loyalty and support. Yes, you counted right, 5 generations of love, loyalty and support. Every single person who Jeanice called family would gladly tell you their mom or Grandma Mullen was one of their biggest fans. Jeanice poured her heart and soul into her family and friends.

Jeanice is survived by her loving and devoted children, Jerry (Kathy) Mullen, Shawnee, KS, Jeannette (Ernie) Heikes, Buhler, KS, Kay Mullen, Lyons, KS, Ed (Shirley) Mullen, Columbia, MO. Her 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and 9 step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jeanice was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, parents, Glen and Visa Percival, and siblings.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 5th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Roselawn Mortuary, 1920 Crawford, Salina, KS 67401. With family being present 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Celebration of Jeanice’s life will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, Salina, Kansas Saturday, September 6th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jon Fillipi officiating. Roberta Elniff Holdren, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born July 22, 1932, on her grandfather Russell’s farm southeast of Randall, Kansas. She passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 9 days on Sunday, August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family.&nbsp;

She was the eldest daughter of Lawrence Virgil and Elda Susan (Russell) Elniff. Roberta attended grade school at Jaybird District 100 east of Randall and graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1950.&nbsp;

In May of 1950, she married Carl Claus, and together they welcomed two children, Steve Carl and Pamela Joyce. Though their marriage later ended, Roberta found lasting love with Charles Duane Holdren, whom she married on October 2, 1954. In 1955, Charles adopted Steve and Pamela as his own, and later that same year, they welcomed their daughter, Charla Marie.&nbsp;

Roberta lived a life of service, both to her family and her community. She was active in the PTA, Rebekah Lodge, Jewell Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Hat Society of Jewell. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church east of Randall and later became a member of the Christian Church in Jewell.&nbsp;

In 1994, Roberta retired after 20 years of dedicated service as a Nurse’s Aide at Mitchell County Hospital. Alongside Charles, she was also co-owner of Jewell Variety for several years.&nbsp;

Roberta was known throughout the community for her “Jewell Rap,” a lighthearted tradition that brought joy to many. Family, however, was always her greatest priority. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to support them. She also enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including crocheting, embroidering, sewing, and painting. You could always guarantee a blanket or afghan of some sort for the holidays. She also played a big role in Williams Your Way Travel, helping plan endless trips that brought joy and memories to so many. The last three years while at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Center, when visiting her you could guarantee she was watching the Rodeo Channel, and her favorite activity there was BINGO.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Holdren (2003); parents, Lawrence and Elda Elniff; daughter, Pamela Williams; son, Steve Holdren; sons-in-law, Eldon “Bub” Williams and Calvin Monty; grandson, Brian Williams; and two great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter, Charla Monty of Beloit; grandchildren, Cindy Monty, Christina (AJ) Hupfer, Quanita Williams, Brooke (Anthony) Williams, Braelynn Monty, Jenna Hupfer, Tanner Hupfer, Zoe Williams, Zander Williams, and Julia Gormly; and great-great-grandchildren, Charles (Trey) E. Harmon III, LaTavius, Aamir, and Vaidyn.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, at the Jewell Christian Church, Jewell, Kansas. Burial will follow at Wallace Cemetery, east of Jewell. Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kleppinger Funeral Home in Jewell, with family present from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. A luncheon at the Jewell Community Center will be held at 11:30 a.m., prior to the funeral service.&nbsp;
