Helen Faye Rogers , 83, was born on November 8, 1940 in Missouri and passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024 in Salina, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Mary Opal Rogers and lived in Salina since early childhood.

Helen is survived by her son, Mike Pitts, daughter, Paula Harapat, son-in-law Chris Harapat and grandchildren Tyler Pitts, Chance Harapat, Levi Harapat, and Brandon Harapat. Helen is also survived by her brother, Charles Rogers(Karen), former brother-in law Ken Pitts(Laurie) and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Max Pitts and sister-in-law Anita Rogers.

Helen’s faith in God was central to her life, and she was deeply devoted to her Christian beliefs. She had a passion for sewing, reading the bible and playing the piano and was known for her remarkable skills on the softball field during her younger years.

Professionally, Helen worked as a secretary for many years, where she made a lasting impression on colleagues and friends. She touched the lives of many with her outspoken nature, feisty spirit and strong sense of faith.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Pinnacle Park for their long-term care and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support in Helen's final days. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel in Salina, KS, with Sr. Pastor Blaine Herron officiating. Entombment will follow at Williamsburg Mausoleum in Salina, KS.

Kathryn was born in Paola, Kansas on April 4, 1931 to George L. and Elsie (Miller) Wilson. She graduated from Parker High School in 1949 and then attended business school in Kansas City, Missouri. She met Glenn Edward Burnett in high school and they married in 1951. They had two sons, Michael and Larry. They lived in rural Parker, Kansas until they moved to Towanda, Kansas 1965 when Edward worked for the USDA Soil Conservation office in El Dorado, Kansas. She worked for the Butler County Motor Vehicle Department in El Dorado for 22 years. Ed passed away in 1986.

In 2004, she married John E. Burnett and moved to Overland Park, Kansas. John passed away in 2018. She then moved to Eaglecrest Independent Living Community in Salina to be closer to family.

Kathryn was a wonderful homemaker and cook and always had a meal ready and cookies baked. She enjoyed and was loved by many dear friends over the years but her priority was always her family, of whom she was so proud and loved dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service on October 24th in Osawatomie, Kansas.&nbsp; Memorials to Gentiva Hospice or the charity of your choice.

Freda A. Vogan, 84 of Salina Kansas passed away peacefully on October 11th, 2024, surrounded by family. Freda was born on Feb 16th to James Hardesty and Mamie Kerr. She grew up in the Salina/Brookville area.

Freda was united in marriage to Dale Vogan in 1957 and they were married for 51 years before his death in 2008. Freda worked for various moving companies, was a homemaker, helped her husband at Day and Night Plumbing, and worked for the City of Salina until her retirement.

Surviving are her children Sandra Lobdell (Gilbert), Kim Franklin (Mark), Julie Cairns (Jon), Dalene Hole (Monty), Sari Nojonen of Finland, Chris Vogan (Shianta), 20 Grandchildren, and 21 Great Grandchildren, and her best CB friend in Australia, Pauline Haimes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, four sisters, Mildred Hardesty, Goldie Radke, Faye Hill, Ruby Crook, and Great Grandchild Melina Garmen.

Visitation will be Friday October 18th, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19th, at Ryan Mortuary.

Jacqueline “Jackie” House, 89, of Wichita, beloved daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Ascension Via Christi Assisted Living, Wichita.

Jackie was born on August 25, 1935 in Bennington, Kansas to the late George and Viola (Richardson) Payne.

The family later moved to Salina when she was 8 with her younger sister Janet whom she adored and helped raise while her mother worked many hours. As a young girl she enjoyed Brownies, Girl Scouts, tap dance, ballet and aerobics. She learned to sew on a Treddle sewing machine at the age of 10 and continued being an avid seamstress throughout her life. She was a very outgoing busy girl.

Jackie met Leland House while attending Kansas Wesleyan where they both graduated. Jackie with high academic honors and Lee with football championships as the quarterback. They married on February 14, 1957 and soon after moved to Colorado with their first son, Doug. A few years later they had their daughter Brenda.

Jackie was busy substitute teaching and raising children. She was a wonderful, fun and loving mom and excelled at care giving. Jackie had many activities she enjoyed including water skiing, snow skiing, tennis, bridge, swimming, golf, singing in the choir, sewing, reading but she especially loved to sing and dance. One of her favorite memories was doing the choreography for the play “Hello Dolly” at the Wray High School in Wray, CO.

Several years later she was called to provide care and moved back to Salina in 1993 to care for her mother. She was devoted to her mother and did everything for her mother along with her sister Janet. They were wonderful daughters.

Jackie loved to collect dolls, cookbooks, making her own hats, the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, karaoke, and helping others. She loved life and had a strong personality all the while being a Christian.

Jackie is survived by: Daughter: Brenda Underhill and spouse Larry; Son: Doug House; Grandson: Hunter House, Sister: Janet Weis and spouse Larry; Nieces: Barbara and Pam; Nephew: Bruce, Many other family and friends.

Lucille Landis, age 96, of Linn, Kansas, died at Eaglecrest Assisted Living in Salina, Kansas on October 13, 2024.

Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn with Rev. Ronald Hamm officiating.

Pallbearers are Melanie Landis, Michael Landis, Jill Hanson, Marsha Landis, Erica Keener, Lars Larson, Angela Gross and Lee Larson.

Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Kansas.

Lucille, the 4th&nbsp;of 10 children was born to Reuben and Gertrude (Yungeberg) Woodward on May 13, 1928, near Barnes, Kansas. She attended Bell Grade School. As a teenager, Lucille worked for several farm wives, later coming to Linn where she was employed at the Hoerman Packing Company for several years.

On October 19, 1945, she married Kenneth Landis at Washington, Kansas. They lived near Fairbury, NE several months, then moved to Linn where they raised their children Lonny, Steve, Rick and Vickie. Lucille was a full-time housewife and Mother with a very special love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lucille was baptized February 27, 1955 and became a member of the Linn United Methodist Church where she was a faithful worker in the Church and served as Treasurer for the United Methodist Women for 16 years before the Church closed.

She was a member of the Wholmoor American Legion Auxiliary in Linn from 1959 to present and served as a Treasurer in the earlier years. In 2022 she was honored as one of three ladies still living that were Charter members.&nbsp;

Lucille had many friends in Linn and surrounding communities. She was well known for her friendship, kindness and caring. She always lent a helping hand and remembered the sick and elderly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; sister Ruby Francis; and brothers, Eugene, Melvin (infant), Darrol, Karle and Don Woodward; son-in-law Steven Larson; and granddaughter Amy Landis.

She is survived by children, Lonny and wife Susan, Salina, Steven and wife Rose, Clay Center, Rick and wife Brenda, Brookville and Vickie and husband Doug Hoover, Abilene; sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Finlayson, Tucson, Arizona (formerly Washington, Kansas); and brothers Ray Woodward and wife Barbara, St. Paris, Ohio, Delvin Woodward, Junction City; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Joni Jean Anderson Fisher, Parsons left this earth on Wed. October 9 2024

Joni Jean Anderson was born on February 6th 1957 in McPherson Hospital to Rollin and JoJean (Easter) Anderson. &nbsp;She lived on a farm outside of Lindsborg for the first few years of her life, starting school at Elvings Country school then moving to Salina after 5th grade. She attended South Jr. High and graduated from Central High in Salina Ks. &nbsp;

Left behind to mourn her Son Joshua Fisher (Sharla). Brothers Jon Anderson and Jerry Anderson (Micki), Grandchildren Breanna (Daniel Layton) Kelsey ,Trenton, Breckon Fisher, Jordan Whittenburg, Tori Nelson and 3 Great Grandchildren Gracelynn Fisher, Kimber Rose, and Krew Layton. A nephew Joel (Jessica) Anderson several Cousins and some Very Close lifelong friends. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Preceded in death by her Father Rollin Anderson, Mother Jo Jean Johnson, grandparents Jonathon and Ida Anderson, and Daisy Jones and Jack Easter,Great Grandson Lincoln Miller and Beloved Son Jordan Lawrence Parsons. &nbsp;

Joni made an huge impact on everyone she met. She worked at Tony's Restaurant as well as the Holidome as well as other places around town. &nbsp;She worked as a bank teller and for Saline County Sheriff as a deputy. Once retired she selflessly helped her friends and anyone else who needed it in any way she could. She loved to travel and made friends everywhere she went.

A 3PM graveside Memorial Service is planned for Sunday Nov. 17th 2024 at Rosehill Cemetery on Fairchild Rd in Saline County.

Linda Fritz, 75 of Abilene passed away October 10, 2024 in Wakefield. She was born December 8, 1948 in Hutchinson, Kansas the daughter of Howard and Thelma (Hughbanks) Tinder. She attended the Abilene schools and graduated from Abilene High School in 1966. Linda worked at various restaurants and hotels. Linda is survived by her children, Toby Miller, Marcie Leidig, Chad Miller, Carl James, Mike James, Steven James and Joshua James and numerous grandchildren.

Kevin Bayard Bell, 63, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born on December 12, 1960, in Louisville, KY, to Billie Bayard Bell and JoAnn (Buehler) Bell.

Kevin and his father opened Bayard’s Café in Salina over 45 years ago. He continued to run the restaurant with family after his father’s death and was the rock of the family. Kevin was hard working, and he loved his dogs and especially his wife, Vickie. Put simply, he was the best brother a girl could ask for.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Vickie (Strickland) Bell.

Survivors include his sisters, Janey Wootan (David), Billie Jo Bell, and Lisa Bell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery, Smolan, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Animal Shelter, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Carolyn Ann Burt passed away peacefully in her home on October 7, 2024. Born on June 11, 1947, to Harold and Katherine “Kitty” Shannon, Carolyn shared over forty years of love and life with her late husband, Paul Eugene Burt.

For more than thirty years, Carolyn opened her heart and home as a foster parent, welcoming over 1,000 children into her life. To so many of them, she was simply “Mom,” and she created one of the biggest families imaginable—full of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and more. It wasn’t unusual to see foster children from twenty years ago stopping by, remembering fondly the warmth and love they found in her home. Carolyn loved each of her children fiercely and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.

To an enormous group of children, she was “grandma,” and her home was a place of joy and adventure. It was the house where kids played elaborate games of house in the basement, took joyrides in the golf cart, stole Cherry Pepsi’s from the storage closet, and swung from the backyard tree until they felt like they could touch the sky. As those children grew older, her home remained a safe haven—no matter the time or reason, it was always a place where you could come back, where new generations met grandma and grandpa, and where love continued to grow.

Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love and a host of family and friends who will cherish her memory forever. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Burt; her parents, Harold Allison Shannon and Katherine “Kitty” Shannon; her siblings, Richard Shannon and Connie Shannon; her children, Carol Lee Ryder, Becky Ferguson, Shanne Jonte, Connie Rodriguez; and her grandchild, Journi Maas.

She is survived by her sibling, Harold Gene Shannon and his wife Cece; her children Scott Maas, Jason Maas and his wife Andrea, Adam Burt, Chastity Burt, Roberta Cart, Susan Pavioni, Staci Ellison and her husband Todd, Kelly Burt and his wife Allie, and Stephani Greytak and her husband Larry; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

Regina Kay Steinle-Hendrickson, affectionately known as Gina, passed away on October 2, 2024, in her hometown of Salina, Kansas. Born on January 23, 1953, in Salina, Regina lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a deep commitment to her family and friends.

A passionate Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Regina found joy in making greeting cards and sharing her talents with those around her. She had a penchant for country music, which often filled her car with melodies that resonated with her vibrant spirit. Regina loved to indulge in her favorite dishes at Hong Kong Buffet, and she could always be found cheering on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Regina was a devoted mother to her son, Shawn Steinle, and cherished her role as a loving figure to her adopted grandchildren, Elena, Jimmena, Ninel, and Vizente` Garcia. She is survived by her siblings, Clair Steinle, Wil Steinle, Keith Steinle, and Karen Humphries, who will carry fond memories of her sassy, stubborn, and sarcastic yet incredibly kind and caring nature.

Regina was actively involved in her community, contributing her time and efforts to organizations such as Circles of the Heartland and the United Way. Her love for family and friends was unwavering, and she found true happiness in their company, as well as in her favorite television shows, including "Young and the Restless," "Bold and the Beautiful," "Survivor," and "America's Got Talent."

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m., Friday, October 25th, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 East Neal Ave. A Celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 26th at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Richard Jack Gould, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Concordia on October 8, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

He was born June 5, 1953, along with his twin Robert, at Concordia Hospital.&nbsp; Richard was the son of Jack D. and Phyllis Gile Gould. In 1971, he graduated from Concordia High School. He later attended Cloud County Community College and then graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in history, social sciences, and geography.&nbsp;

His love of history and learning led to a 28 year career as curator with the Kansas State Historical Society’s Pawnee Indian Museum, Republic, KS.&nbsp; Richard was passionate in sharing history of the Pawnee Indian tribe and was a talented tour guide, researcher, and curator.&nbsp; He made history truly come alive for hundreds of students and adults over the years.&nbsp; Richard worked closely with archaeologists from KU and the Smithsonian Institution.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In his early years, Richard loved boating at Waconda and Lovewell Lakes. He also enjoyed going to K-State football and basketball games as well as Gile and Holgerson family reunions.&nbsp; He was deeply devoted and generous to his family and friends, but especially to his parents.&nbsp; Richard enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean Islands with Bob, Cousin Paul Whitney and friend Brenda Cottrell.&nbsp;

Later, Richard traveled often with his brother Bob and friend Beth Carlgren.&nbsp; The three of them enjoyed many trips to Africa and Europe.&nbsp; After his retirement, he moved back to Concordia in 2018, where he and his twin brother along with many friends enjoyed “country cruising.”&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orrin and Hazel Gould, Roy and Julia Gile, his parents, and brothers James and Robert.&nbsp; Survivors include Brother Lee (Debbie) Gould, Salina, KS, nephew Jared (Kelly) Gould and their children Julie and Jackson, Waco, TX, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.&nbsp; He is also survived by close friends Brenda Cottrell, Aaron (Misty) Birrell, Dan (Diane) Morrissette, and Randy (Joni) Regnier.&nbsp;

Richard’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to OCCK of Concordia and their dedicated&nbsp;

Frankie. B. Uncle B. Pappy. Grandpappy. Everyone had a name for him besides his actual name, Franklin Henry Berens. His ability to make people laugh and to feel at ease around him made him a joy to be with, and the nicknames abound.&nbsp;

50 years a Kansas resident, by way of Wilmington, Delaware, Frank’s journey was complicated, but one of enduring love that was unfettered by distance. Born to Alema and Norbert Berens on 4/30/1947, he was raised from an early age by his Aunt Lois and Uncle Bob Peoples, whom he lovingly called Mommy Lois and Daddy Bob, and grew up with his sisters, Ruth and Lois Ellen, and his brother, Alan. Frank was loved and cared for as their own, which influenced Frank’s outlook on family later in his life.&nbsp;

Frank attended McPherson College, graduating in 1972 with a major in English, which was a great source of pride for him and his family. After graduation, he set out across the U.S. with his best friend, Bob Knechtal, traveling from coast to coast, seeing avocado farms in California, Native American settlements in the southwest and finally settling back in McPherson. Frank was a machinist for most of his adult life, but returned to college in his late 50s to get his teaching degree, at which point he became a substitute teacher and para educator for special education students in the Emporia school district.

Frank met the love of his life, and devoted wife of 48 years, Marcie Colleen Baird in the fall of 1975, and they married on August 21st, 1976, in McPherson, KS. Frank and Marcie had two children, Robert Jesse and Katherine Alema, in 1977 and 1979 respectively. Frank filled his family’s life with laughter, singing, music, adventure and a robust world view.&nbsp;

Frank was a voracious reader who never lost his desire to learn, especially passionate about world history. He was a music lover and dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. And while he had left the east coast, his love for a good cheesesteak persisted. During his college years, he made enduring friendships in the Mug Club that was the source of great stories and wonderful memories for Frank.

Frank passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, surrounded by family at his home in Buhler.&nbsp; He was 77 years old.

Frank is preceded in death by his mother Alema, father Norbert, aunt and uncle Lois and Robert Peoples, and brother Alan Peoples.&nbsp;

He is survived by his beloved wife Marcie Berens, son Robert and his wife Danielle, his daughter Katie and her husband Andy. Frank’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, Nicholas Berens, Jacob Berens, Grace Sears, Coleton Hines, Spencer Hines and Emmielynn Berens. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth and her husband Herman, and Lois Ellen and her husband Jim.

The family will receive friends&nbsp;from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.

Shirley Irene Jewell, 65, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.

Shirley was born in Salina, Kansas on September 4, 1959, a daughter of Gladys Irene (Newell) Edwards, of Salina, Kansas and the late James Earl Strath.

Survivors include her mother, Gladys Edwards, of Salina; son, Jesse Jewell (Adrianna), of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three sisters, Donna Vance (David), of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sue Randall, of Salina, Kansas and Carol Lee (Terry), of Garden City, Kansas.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Felicia Jewell, Castiel Jewell, Rianna Jewell; nephew, Billy Randall; great niece, Mykkala Randall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father; son, Jason Jewell; daughter, Felicia Jewell; brother, Richard Edwards.

Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

 </figure>Shirley Irene Jewell, 65, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.Shirley was born in Salina, Kansas on September 4, 1959, a daughter of Gladys Irene (Newell) Edwards, of Salina, Kansas and the late James Earl Strath.Survivors include her mother, Gladys Edwards, of Salina; son, Jesse Jewell (Adrianna), of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three sisters, Donna Vance (David), of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sue Randall, of Salina, Kansas and Carol Lee (Terry), of Garden City, Kansas.She is also survived by grandchildren, Felicia Jewell, Castiel Jewell, Rianna Jewell; nephew, Billy Randall; great niece, Mykkala Randall; and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her father; son, Jason Jewell; daughter, Felicia Jewell; brother, Richard Edwards.Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.To send online condolences for the family, visit the funeral home website, www.carlsonfh.net

Delmar Dean Huber, 83, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home.&nbsp; Delmar was a crew chief at Board of Public Utilities where he worked for 42 years, retiring in 2005.

He was born on December 11, 1940, in Hillsboro, KS, the son of Jonah George and Lucille Allen (Kerbs) Huber.&nbsp; On November 26, 1960, Delmar was united in marriage to Gladys “Glady” Illene Winn in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 62 years prior to her passing on January 8, 2023.

He attended the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, Dawna (Lyndon) Barrow, Dallas (Julie) Huber, and Darci (Ryan) Walker, all of McPherson, KS; sister-in-law, May Huber-Rabon of Roseburg, OR; eight grandchildren, Gregg (Kristen) Barrow, Michael (Alycia) Barrow, Austin Huber, Courtney Huber, Dylan (Lauren) Barrow, Shelby (Zach) Oller, Lindsy (Shawn) Phillips, and Codi (Brett) Cusick; 17 great-grandchildren; and many more extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jonah &amp; Eva Huber and Dayna &amp; Lucille Stump; brothers, Jonathan Dale Huber and LaVern (Marilyn) Huber; and sister, Dixie (Clyde) Huber Anthem.

Harlan “Lee” Enyart, 81, of Lindsborg, KS and formerly of Marquette, KS, passed away October 10, 2024.&nbsp; He was born November 11, 1942, in Missouri to Waneta Fern (Grable) Stanfield.&nbsp; He joined the Navy when he was 18 years old and served for four years.

He moved to Olathe, Kansas in 1968 where he met his wife, Fayetta B. (McCall) Enyart.&nbsp; They were married October 4, 1969.&nbsp; The first of three children was born in 1970.

They moved to Bennington, Kansas and then to Marquette, Kansas in 1983 when he started working for Great Plains Manufacturing in Assaria, Kansas, and was transferred to Salina, Kansas in 1987.&nbsp; He spent 30 years there and retired in 2017.

Lee was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his wife, Fayetta Enyart, parents, brothers, Kenny Stanfield and Larry Stanfield.

Survivors include children, Trampest Enyart (Jennifer) of Marquette, KS, Mechell Heart (Steve) of Lindsborg, KS, Danny Enyart of Marquette, KS; six grandchildren, Michaela (Seth), Haley (Brandon), Hannah (Garret), Haddie (Clayton), Hayden (Jaelynn), and Hazel; great-grandchildren, Melina, Corbyn, Wesson, Kalvin, Kingley, Aliyah, Ashton, Carson, Mia, Nova, and Liliana; out of state siblings, nieces, and nephews.&nbsp; All of whom will greatly miss him.

Harlan “Lee” Enyart

Kenny Lee September 21, 1946 ~&nbsp;June 10, 2024

A brain tumor felled Kenny Lee and he died on June 10, 2024.&nbsp; Yet his heart never faltered.&nbsp; He was a very kind and compassionate man; an extraordinary father; and a person loved by many.&nbsp; Ken went out of his way to be helpful to others, even strangers.&nbsp; He was a humble person.&nbsp; He was also quite accomplished.

Kenny Lee was born on Sept. 21, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York.&nbsp; He was the second of three children of Helen and Larry Lee, Jr.&nbsp;

Kenny was a trailblazer, athlete, war hero, leader, and world traveler.&nbsp; In the 1950s, Kenny was one of very few Asian American child actors.&nbsp; He performed in the musical “The King and I” and in the comedy “The Teahouse of the August Moon.” &nbsp;While in the shows’ national touring companies he traveled twice across the United States.

A gifted athlete, Kenny was voted the outstanding back on Brooklyn’s Erasmus Hall High School football team. He was a running back on the Kansas Wesleyan University football team until a knee injury ended his career.&nbsp; Kenny won or placed in eight Salina Y racquetball competitions.&nbsp; He finished twenty half marathons and was delighted that he and his daughter Jeni were both finishers at the 2006 New York City marathon.

After he graduated KWU in 1969, Kenny was drafted into the United States Army.&nbsp; Serving in Vietnam – a 360° war without a front or rear – he was especially vulnerable as an Asian American because he could be mistaken for the enemy.&nbsp; Yet, Kenny was awarded two bronze stars for valor.&nbsp; The citation reads, “Under mortar, rocket propelled grenades, and machine gun fire - through his timely and courageous actions, Private Lee was instrumental in thwarting the enemy attack.&nbsp; He continued to keep himself exposed to additional enemy fire while assisting several of his wounded comrades into MEDEVAC helicopters.”&nbsp;

After receiving his master’s in physical education from Springfield College, Kenny returned to Salina and worked in the United States Postal Service.&nbsp; Kenny was proud of his 33-year career at the USPS.&nbsp; He worked his way up to Postmaster and was beloved by his colleagues.&nbsp;

After retirement Kenny traveled extensively.&nbsp; Mostly by cruise ship, except for Antarctica, he voyaged to all continents and toured more than 40 countries.&nbsp;

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Jeni Lee-Peterson, his son-in-law, Roman Peterson; his ex-wife Lee Ann Burwell; his estranged wife Susan Burt; his stepchildren, Spencer Burt, Emily Helm and Marieke Goates, and their families; and by his older brother, Larry Lee III, younger sister, Laurie Lee, and their families.

A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at First Southern Baptist on Oct. 18th, 2024 at 11am with a luncheon to follow.

Kenny Lee

Paul Michael Holloway was born March 27, 1948, in the McPherson County General Hospital, McPherson, Kansas. He peacefully passed away in the late-night hours of October 7, 2024, reaching the age of 76.

His parents were Sherman C Holloway and Verna D Ellsworth-Lyon Holloway. He and his family lived on a farm about 2 miles to the north of Inman, Kansas, on the Inman-Conway blacktop. The family moved to Inman in the fall of 1954 and moved back to the farm in the fall of 1959. He attended Inman grade school until the middle of his 8th&nbsp;grade year when the family moved to Garden Grove, California, in February of 1962 and he completed his grade school education at Izaak Walton Junior High. He then attended and graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1966, Fullerton Junior College in 1969 and Cal-State University at Fullerton in September of 1970. He entered post-graduate studies and received his teacher’s certificate a year later. He taught at Loara High School in Anaheim, California, for two years. When the economy failed, he had no job and the family was having financial difficulties due to his father’s ill health after a heat stroke and subsequent brain strokes. He started work at Minute Temporary Help Services: first as an employee being sent out to various jobs and then as Office Manager in their Santa Ana office. He never forgot his experience in finding a body in the weeds next to the Bellflower Office while he was in training. It fundamentally changed his spiritual outlook on mortality and hell. He was an active member of the Garden Grove First Christian Youth Group and had many enjoyable times going with them to Gaviota Beach, Lake Arrowhead, Needles/Colorado River, Sequoia National Park and other places while he was a member.

The family had an opportunity to move back to Kansas in August of 1974 to a farm that was given to Sherman by Grandma Anna. By this time, the family consisted of two sons and two daughters, the oldest two having been married and living in California. Paul started working at the CertainTeed Pipe Plant in McPherson, Kansas in September of 1974 and was employed there until February of 2007 at which time he sought for, and found, employment at Gospel Tract and Bible Society in Moundridge, Kansas. He worked there until his retirement. He very much enjoyed the conversations with his co-workers and the communications with others done via letter, e-mails and phone conversations.

Paul had noticed people that appeared to be different in quality as well as in kind from the people with whom he associated: the peace that most had was the single-outstanding characteristic that commended itself to him. He remembered a conversation in the break-room at CertainTeed in which a Church of God in Christ Mennonite member had talked about his daughter’s upcoming wedding and how pleased he was that she was marrying a Christian man of the same faith as her. After he left the break-room, something prompted Paul to ask the others what they felt about this member’s faith and salvation. The interesting point was that they all felt that one could be saved in ‘that church’ but they didn’t feel confident in being saved in one another’s churches.

It was after that, the Lord began to lead Paul closer to the truth and His people. During his search for the truth, Paul was invited to attend services at the Zion Mennonite Church in August of 1980. He kept attending there and came under spiritual conviction of sin and finally, the Friday after Thanksgiving while attending revivals, gave his heart to the Lord and was born again. There was much learning that needed to be done, but he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in January of 1982. He served in many positions including Sunday School teacher, Bible Study Committee, Sunday School Superintendent, Tract Committee, School Board and so on.

Paul felt led to attend Lone Tree church and there found many more friends and his life companion, Grace Koehn. They were united in marriage on September 28, 1986. He transferred back to Zion in 1993 when the eldest child started school, as Plainview School was much closer than Sunflower School. They had four children in 6 years, so Dad and Mom were kept busy. They lived on the Holloway home place where his parents and grandparents had lived. There were always gardens, livestock, and pets around and Dad enjoyed them all. He liked to hear singing and found a particular joy in hearing his children sing at home as a group. Dad developed Type 2 diabetes in his later years but managed to persevere in spite of it. He always enjoyed reading the bible and sharing his thoughts and queries with his friends and family.

He leaves behind his wife Grace, children: Caleb and wife Kristi; Daniel and wife Rebekah; Jemima; and Micah and wife Natalie. He is survived by three granddaughters, five grandsons; three sisters, Linda Paul, Chris Pitts, Janet Dickerson and a brother, John Sherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Kathy Boone.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Inman, KS.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Sunday, October 13, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Zion Church Cemetery.

Marsha Ann Eastman, 73, of Salina, Kan., passed away peacefully Monday, October 7, 2024. She was born in Arkansas City, Kan., on May 2, 1951, to Lawrence and Mona Jean (Linton) Breault.

Marsha was a stay-at-home mom and raised her two sons, Kevin Eastman and Kerry Eastman until they were in school, and then she worked at USD 305. She loved it when the grandkids came to see her. It put one big smile on her face.

Marsha loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and the Kansas City Chiefs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kerry.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Eastman; son, Kevin and wife Denise; three grandchildren, Conner, Cameron, and Kenndy; and brother, Robert and wife Charlotte.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marsha’s honor may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Hospital, care of Ryan Mortuary.

Roy Lee Mark, 79 passed away October 6, 2024 at St Francis Hospital in Wichita with his loving family by his side. He was born September 10, 1945 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Albert and Helen (Hyson) Mark. 

On September 2, 1984 he was united in marriage to Cathi in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roy and Cathi spent most of their married life living in Oklahoma. After Cathi’s passing in 2017, Roy and his dog went to live with his daughter Tammy and her husband Justin in Hope where he remained until his passing. Roy worked for Mid Central Sysco. He enjoyed playing golf, poker, spending time with his family, a good country western and watching sports with his son-in-law Justin. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy Campbell (Justin) of Hope and Angela Tilton (Joe) of Gardner, Kansas. One son, Tim Mark and wife Kathy of Overland Park, Kansas. Grandchildren: Kaylena Nash; Melissa Yates; Spencer Tilton; Tristen Tilton; Shamina Branch (Stepphon); Lyricsen and Zamir and one great-grandduahgter, Olivia Nash and six nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cathi Mark; siblings, Robert Mark, Marsha Louise Mark, Evelyne Grammer and Jeff Shores.

 Funeral Services for Roy will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Roy Lee Mark

Paul Llamas, 88 of Abilene passed away October 3, 2024. He was born November 21, 1935 in Saffordville, Kansas the son of Paublo and Maria (Santoyo) Llamas. He grew up around the Newton area, attending the local schools and graduating from Newton High. On August 3, 1954 he enlisted in the United Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged in August of 1957. On June 22, 1961 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Alvarez-Hernandez in El Paso, Texas. She preceded him in death

August 23, 2015. Paul owned and operated Llamas Cement &amp; Construction for over 50 years, covering a wide area from Larned, Kansas to Manhattan, Kansas. It would be hard to find a piece of concrete in the Abilene area that isn’t stamped with the Llamas Cement &amp; Construction logo. He retired from his concrete business in the early 2000’s. Paul had numerous hobbies and interests but he could often be found outside taking care of his yard. Paul moved into Frontier Estates where he would make good friends. Paul is survived by his daughter, Katherine (John) Dobkins and son, Bernie (Annette) Hernandez, one sister, Carmen Sauceda, a special granddaughter, Michelle (Vance) Riffel, fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise, two sons,

Paul Llamas

Edwin William Dent, Jr., 82 passed away on October 04, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born on April 23, 1942 in Salina, KS to parents of Edwin William Sr and Mary Irene Pinkenburg.

Junior was working as a Farmer/Rancher for most of his life, starting since he was knee high with his dad and granddad. As a child he was very active in 4H and showed Ayrshire cattle. He graduated from Assaria High School in 1960. He married Robbie (aka Roberta) Breer, May 22, 1982. In this union they had 2 children, a son Weston W Dent and daughter Krystal L (Soler) Dent. Junior was a jack of all trades working hard and playing harder. He owned and operated several businesses including Kansas Insulation services, Dent’s White Park Cattle, Kansas Dorpers, and&nbsp;Dent’s Cattle Company. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed many hobbies which included working with horses, a dirt track race car driver, rodeo cowboy and an avid coyote hunter. Out of all of his hobbies he enjoyed coyote hunting the most as this was passed down for many generations and still holds true to this day as his wife, kids, and their kids enjoy going every winter.

For over 35 years Junior was well known all over the state putting on pedal tractor pull events under Dent’s Pedal Power. He enjoyed watching kids challenge themselves and the overall nature of competition which he instilled in his children and has continued to this day of holding pedal pulls that now his grandchildren compete in and help run.

Under his rough exterior he had a big heart and was always willing to help others in need in and around the community. He was always willing to give the shirt off his back and lend a helping hand. Even rough and tough cowboys had soft spots for those in need.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; Edwin Sr and Marie Dent.

Edwin is survived by Roberta E Dent (Breer); Children: Weston Dent and spouse Danya, their 2 children (Steven and Brylee), Krystal (Dent) Soler and spouse Christain, their 2 children (Cayson and Raylon); others: Diane Pate (Sister) of Andalusia, AL her 2 children (Todd and Tammi), Duane Dent (Brother) and his spouse Chris of Caldwell, ID and their 2 children (Shawn and KayLynn), and many other nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church; 225 South 7th Street Salina, KS 67401 with Pastor Jacque Thornton officiating. Landess Lee (Lanny) Norstrom, 77, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on October 5, 2024, in the presence of family members after an eight month battle with the effects of a stroke suffered in February of that year.&nbsp; Lanny was born to Landess L. and Leona Nerine (Milleson) Norstrom on January 3, 1947.&nbsp; He was the New Year's baby in McPherson, Kansas, having been born in McPherson Hospital.

Lanny spent his initial years on the family farm outside of Roxbury, Kansas.&nbsp; The family moved from the farm to the house that he grew up in on Walnut St. in Canton, Kansas.&nbsp; Lanny attended the Canton Schools, being active in the sports of football, basketball, and track and also participating in the band, playing the trombone.&nbsp; He graduated from Canton High School in 1965, receiving his diploma from his father who was a member of the Board of Education.

It was during this time that he went to work for the Hesston Corporation as a mechanic working on hay harvesting equipment in Arizona and California.It was in the next year or two that he decided to continue his education in business, attending Washburn University in Topeka.&nbsp; It was here that he became engaged to his life-long love, Pam Lindberg.&nbsp; They began their life together while Lanny was still attending classes at Washburn.&nbsp; It was when they learned that their first born, Michael, was on the way that Lanny decided it was time to go back to work, getting a job in the offices of the Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka.Both sons, Michael and Eric, were born in Topeka.&nbsp; Pam and Lanny were members of the Westside Christian Church in Topeka, serving as youth leaders.&nbsp; Many of the friendships formed there continue today.&nbsp; Pam and Lanny celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 20, 2019, being virtually inseparable over the years.The decision was made to move back to rural Galva in 1974 to help with the Lindberg family farm.&nbsp; It was at this time that they moved to the Lindberg homestead five miles north of Galva, and raised their two sons, and spent the remainder of their lives.&nbsp; One of the few dark moments in their time together came on June 15, 1992, when the farm was visited by an F5 tornado.&nbsp; It was ¾ of a mile wide when it came by, leaving little behind.&nbsp; Thankfully, no one was injured, and they began the process of rebuilding “Gone With The Wind Estates”, as they appropriately now call the property.Following in his father’s footsteps, Lanny who has always been involved with the schools, became a member of the Board of Education for 12 years, with a good chunk of that time serving as the president of the board.&nbsp; He handed both son’s their high school diplomas.&nbsp; Even after leaving the formal position on the board, Lanny was an ever present fan, whether his grandkids were involved in the activity or not.&nbsp; Many times, he would arrive at an event, home or away, so early that he would need to return from the stands to purchase a ticket once the ticket takers arrived.Pam and Lanny joined the Galva Christian Church upon moving back to central Kansas.&nbsp; Lanny held many positions in the church, including president of the board, elder, and was recently honored with the title of elder emeritus.&nbsp; He was also very involved with the state men’s group for the Christian Church in Kansas, and with the establishment and improvement of Camp Tawakoni.Upon their return to Galva, Lanny began working for the Home Telephone Company on April 1, 1975, and retired on December 31, 2009, after 39 and a half years.&nbsp; He proudly put a personalized license plate on his vehicle, “FONEMAN”, for all to see.&nbsp; Upon retiring from the phone office, he and Pam worked for several years with the rural water district.&nbsp; Lanny performed the maintenance on the system while Pam kept the books.Lanny cherished every moment spent with all of his grandkids, following them to sporting events, scouting events, community events, or whatever they chose to be involved in.&nbsp; It didn’t matter what the activity was, Lanny and Pam were all in with their support.Another low spot in Lanny and Pam’s life together came in the summer of 2017 when Pam received a diagnosis of gallbladder cancer.&nbsp; While Pam was ever positive in her battle with the disease, she was quick to mention that Lanny was always there as her guardian angel.&nbsp; He accompanied her to her many obligations as the state president of the Christian Women in Kansas.&nbsp; Wherever she was, you didn’t need to look far to see Lanny.&nbsp; He was a constant in her three year battle, losing her in February, 2020.Lanny was preceded in death by his wife, Pam; and his parents, Landess and Nerine.He leaves behind:&nbsp; two sons, Mike and wife Karla, and Eric and wife Treva; four grandchildren, Zach (Mike’s) and wife Oliva, Drew (Mike’s) and wife Jaime, Taryn (Eric’s) and husband Brandon, and Ryder (Eric’s).&nbsp; Extended family members and friends are too many to mention, as Lanny never met a stranger.The family wants to thank the many who have stopped by to visit dad over these last several months, for the lifelong friendships, the many prayers, thoughts and well wishes that have been sent, and for all the love that you have provided. Please hear dad’s patent response, “Love Ya’ Back!”The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday October 25, at Galva Christian Church.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 26, with a meal to follow, all at the church.
