Judith Lee Heinen, passed away on December 15, 2025. Judy was born on January 16, 1939, in Luray, Kansas, to the late Lee Fenton and Avis Fenton Hook.

She is survived by her son James, daughter-in-law Joanna, and granddaughter Madison Heinen.

Other survivors include her niece Kristi Kocher of Lenexa, Kansas, nephews and their spouses: Clark and Sharon Wolters of Portis, Kansas, Kirk and Lisa Wolters of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lance and Julie Wolters of Osborne, Kansas. She also leaves a host of great-nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, and Jim Heinen.

Judy received her bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, and a master’s degree from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas.

Judy had a love for children and for learning. Her career in education included elementary teaching in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Wichita, Kansas. After retiring as an Assistant Principal at Pleasant Valley Middle school in Wichita, she moved to Elkhart, Indiana to be closer to her son and family.

She soon Found she was happier while being busy. She began teaching English to international students at the Language Company in South Bend, Indiana and later became the director of the Language Company. Once again, she retired, but not for long. She began working as an Instructional Paraprofessional at Westside Elementary in Elkhart.

When she finally retired for the final time, she enjoyed being active and spending time with family and friends.
