John Steven True, age 32, passed away June 9, 2021 at Morris County Hospital. He was born October 18, 1988 in Council Grove to John and Loretta (Carpenter) True.

John graduated from Council Grove High School in 2008.  He attended Emporia State University and due to health issues, he transferred to Butler County and graduated with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.

John was an extraordinary person. He always made the very best of any situation. He was a kind and caring individual, always putting others before himself. He loved to laugh, have a good time and spending time with his friends.  He enjoyed his dad driving him and his friends in the van to attend concerts.  He cherished his family and enjoyed time with his nieces and nephews. He also loved his dog, Chuck.

John was preceded in death by his Grandpa John True and Uncle Brad True. John is survived by his parents John R. and Loretta True of Council Grove; brothers Jake True of Council Grove and Cody True and wife Allison of Herington; sister Sara True of Council Grove; grandmothers Karen True and Betty Helton, both of Council Grove;  nine nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. John will be sadly missed by all.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021, with services to begin at 11:00 a.m., all to be held at Sawyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, NJ  07078, which will be used to fund cures and treatments for paralysis.
