James Michel "Mike" Schreiber, 78, of Salina, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2021.

Mike was born on October 8, 1942 to Lester and Helen (Clark) Schreiber in Sterling, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Medicine Lodge High School.

Mike was united in marriage to his first wife, Kathleen Rourk, in 1967. To this union, they raised their son, John Michel Schreiber and although their union was not permanent, they continued to stay in each other's lives and remained close. Mike later married Charlotte Seltmann in 1994 and divorced in 2001, also remaining closed friends for the years to come.

Mike was talented, very social and had a big heart. His talents were many but started off with building and fixing nearly anything. He owned and operated a lumber yard in Burdett, Kansas. After serving that community for many years he moved to Hesston, Kansas, where he started his own construction business focusing on remodels and new construction, mostly in the Harvey County area. He named the business Cornerstone Construction as he wanted a name that indicated a spiritual connection that he had in his own life. He later studied to become a heavy equipment operator and was very proud of being an award-winning crane operator for the multiple Kansas area refineries.

Upon retiring, Mike moved to Salina, Kansas, to be near his son and family. He loved spending time with the family even if it meant just riding through his favorite park with his grandson discussing the Bible and on the continued hunt for the infamous albino squirrel they often sighted. He had a love for the Lord and felt led several times to participate in various mission trips around the world. If you spent anytime talking with him, no doubt you had heard some of those stories. He took up the hobby of gold mining in his spare time. You would see him sitting out in front of his apartment, sifting through the sandy treasures he would bring back from his gold claim in the Colorado Mountains. Those mountains stole his heart and were a special place that truly made him happy.

Mike is survived by his son John and wife Noel, along with 5 Grandchildren, Kristionah Lippard, Breonah Lippard, Camdyn Schreiber, Colin Schreiber, and Jaren Schreiber, 2 Great Grandchildren, Evelynn Woodring and Elias Woodring, all of Salina, Kansas; Sister Rebecca Tedrow and husband Stan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Nephews Jim Tedrow, Matt Tedrow, and their families of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mike was preceded in death by his Father, Lester Schreiber, and Mother, Helen Hess.

Following cremation, there will be a Celebration of Life held at Sunset Park, 544 Sunset Drive in Salina, Kansas, at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 18th.
