Henrietta Karlin, 104, Hays, died Monday, April 26, 2021, at HaysMed.

She was born June 30, 1916, in 
Catharine, the daughter of Pauline (Doerfler) and William R. Staab, Sr.&nbsp;
 She was united in marriage to Fidelis Karlin, and he preceded her in 
death on October 2, 1967.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and worked in the kitchen
 at St. Joseph Military Academy.&nbsp; Her memberships included St. Joseph 
Catholic Church and the VFW Post #9076 Auxiliary.&nbsp; Henrietta generously 
served others by volunteering with numerous church ministries, the St. 
Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Goodwill, and founding the Hays Good 
Samaritan Auxiliary.&nbsp; She enjoyed growing flowers and maintaining her 
red roses, traveling with her family and groups, boating at Cedar Bluff 
and Milford Lakes, cooking, and her grandchildren’s visits.&nbsp;

Survivors include three sons:&nbsp; Norman 
Karlin and wife Marilyn of Salina, Robert Karlin and wife Paulette of 
Cape Coral, FL, and Bernard Karlin and wife Jan of Great Bend, a 
son-in-law: Norman Giebler of Hays, a brother: Gerald Staab and wife 
June of Longmont, CO, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 
great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, husband: Fidelis, daughter: Elaine Giebler, two brothers: 
William Staab, Jr. and Edward Staab, and two sisters: Laura Rome and 
Thelma Karlin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with 
Fr. Brian Lager officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St. Joseph 
Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and 
from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral 
Home.&nbsp; A VFW Auxiliary rosary will be at 6:00 pm followed by a vigil 
service at 6:30 pm, all on Thursday at the funeral home.&nbsp; Memorials are

Don W. Anderson, 86 years of age, of Mankato, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on February 14, 1935 in Manhattan, Kansas to Lewis and Tracy (Johnson) Anderson.

He was a 1952 graduate of Cleburne High School, Cleburne, Kansas.

Don received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Don met the love of his life, Gay M. Westbrook, while attending Bethany College.&nbsp; Don and Gay were united in marriage on August 18, 1957.&nbsp; To this union three children were born, K.B., Tracey and Tim.&nbsp;&nbsp; Gay preceded him in death on August 19, 2013.

Don taught business education for many years at USD #378 Mankato High School.&nbsp; Don also coached most all of the girls sports and golf until his retirement.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Don was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Superior Elks, and Mankato Country Club.

He is survived his three children, K.B. Anderson (Brenda Zimmer), Arkansas City, KS; Tracey Knack, Pleasant View, TN; Tim Anderson, Winter Park, CO; brother Jim Anderson (Rosemary), KC, MO and their children Marla and Jenny; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Lance, Ben, Anna, Kenzie and two great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Phoenix; also Amanda Anderson, Mankato, KS;

He was preceded in death by his parents L.K. and El Delle.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date and time in Mankato to be announced.

Inurnment will take place in the Canton Township Cemetery, Canton, Kansas.

Patty worked as a clerk for the USDA office for over 30 years.&nbsp; After her retirement, Patty worked as a receptionist for Close and Company.&nbsp; Patty was a member of the First Baptist Church and Pilot Club.&nbsp; She also volunteered at the Lighthouse For Christ.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Imogene Iseli and Peggy Weidman and brother Gail Robinett.

Ronald “Ron” James Oliva, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. He was born September 25, 1950 to Peggy Ann Lyons Potts and Harry James Oliva in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Ron attended Sulphur High School where he played the trumpet in the high school band. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and retired as an officer after 24 years of service. After his AF Space Command career, he worked nearly another ten years as a CPA in San Antonio.&nbsp; Ron was devout with his Christian faith.&nbsp; He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father Harry James Oliva; uncle Ted Lyons; and brother-in-law Kirkwood S. Hawthorne. 

Ron is survived by his wife Cynthia Hawthorne Oliva; son Roland Oliva and wife Lindy of Katy, Texas; daughter Annie Oliva Rodriguez of Roseville, California; grandsons Jacob and Jaxson Rodriguez of Roseville, California; sisters Cindy Wilson and husband Tim of Celina, Texas, Connie S. Garland and husband Bill of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Becky Dethlefs of Comanche, Oklahoma; mother, Peggy A. Potts of Rusk, Texas; and mother-in-law Miriam S. Hawthorne of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family throughout Louisiana and Texas.

James Lee “Jas” Hayes, 86, of Santa Maria, California, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at the home of Mina Yavari, his loving partner for the past 20 years. Two weeks earlier, “Jas” and Mina spent five happy days in Las Vegas doing what he and she loved best, playing poker together.

James Lee Hayes was born on June 19, 1934, the son of Horace and Marietta “Etta” Hayes in Whitewater, Kansas, a small country town of 495 people. Jas loved the outdoors and fishing for bass. He graduated from Whitewater High Class of 1952. After high school, he worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita and married Edith Hall raising four children, James “Jimmy”, Mark, Renelle and Jennifer. Working by day and studying at night, Jas graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in accounting, and later received his CPA license.

After moving to southern California in 1975, he settled down in Santa Maria and founded his own CPA accounting firm which he ran successfully for over 35 years before retiring in 2019. A pilot of small planes, he loved flying all over California to explore new places visiting friends and family along the way. His favorite song and motto: “I Did It My Way.” And he did.

Jas is survived by his four children, James “Jimmy”, Mark, Renelle, and Jennifer; four adopted children, Savannah, Christine, Cheyenne, and Cory; seven grandchildren, Alisa, Justin, Benjamin, Dillon, Logan, Diego and Hannah; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Adelyn, Vivian and Victoria; brother Larry Hayes of Campbell, California and a sister, Pat Hayes of Kechi, Kansas.

Kenneth Dean Bebermeyer was born September 4, 1931 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of John and Sarah (Koelling) Bebermeyer. Kenneth was the youngest of four children born to John and Sarah.&nbsp;Kenneth grew up in the Talmage community and attended grade school in&nbsp;Talmage and graduated from Abilene High School in 1949. He served in&nbsp;the U.S. Navy for four years.

On June 19, 1955, he married Shirley Sheets and to this union five children were born: Gregory, Sheryl, Kathy, Mary&nbsp;Jean, and Sandra. All their married life was spent farming, first in the Sand Springs area&nbsp; and then they moved to the Talmage community. He retired from&nbsp; farming full-time in 1996 and continued to help his son-in-law Eric, with taking over&nbsp;his farm operation for many years. He attended Talmage United Methodist Church, the Lord’s Chapel in Talmage and in more recent years was a member of Zion Brethren in&nbsp; Christ Church.

He served on the Flora township board, was a member of the Talmage Lions Club and actively involved in the local Gideons organization. Kenneth loved the Lord and accepted Christ as his personal Savior in his early married years and later rededicated his life to the Lord at a revival service led by Curtis Fulton at Zion Brethren in Christ Church.

Kenneth was a strong, hard worker and loved being outdoors tending his crops and caring for his cow-calf operation.

On June 19, 2021, Kenneth and Shirley would have been married for 66 years. They were deeply devoted to one another. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed&nbsp; his family, and they enjoyed him.

Kenneth passed away on Sunday evening, April 25, 2021 at Abilene Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his wife Shirley, one son, Greg Bebermeyer, of&nbsp; Hiawatha, Kansas, and four daughters, Sheryl (Dave) Lundquist of&nbsp; Plano, Texas, Kathy (Eric) Hoover rural Abilene, Mary Bebermeyer, of&nbsp; the home, and Sandy (Lee) Rometti of Iron River Michigan; nine grandchildren and seven&nbsp;great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Sarah, stepmother Blanche, two brothers Marvin and Dwight and an infant sister, Evelyn.

A private visitation for the family will be on Friday, April 30 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.&nbsp;at Danner Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be at Zion Brethren in Christ Church, 997 K-18, Abilene, Kansas Saturday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairiedale Cemetery, Talmage, Kansas.

Lyle L. McClintock, 68, of Salina passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021.&nbsp; He was born March 3, 1953, in Salina, to Gordon and Evelyn (Rogers) McClintock.&nbsp; He attended Salina High School and worked for Central Garage, city of Salina for 35 years before retiring in 2016.

Survivors include his children Stephanie Reinking (Rodney), Shane McClintock (Breanna), all of Salina; siblings Butch McClintock (Meloney), of Port Richey, FL, Connie McClintock Braden (Ray Phillips), of Iola, KS; step-children Kevin Summers (Amber), Michelle Newell (Tony), all of Salina; grandchildren Tristan Goodwin, Miranda Reinking, Ethan Reinking, Trace McClintock, Drake McClintock, Megan Graham, Kyle Summers; great-grandchild Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.

Serena Kay “Sam” (Minear) Gagliardi, 63, of Basehor, Kan., passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at her nieces’ home in Salina, Kan., after a courageous four-year battle with colon cancer.

Serena was born March 4, 1958 in Salina, the fifth child of Dwight D. and Bernadine B. (Mettlen) Minear.&nbsp; Serena attended Salina Central High School.

She was preceded in death by her father Dwight; sister Marianna Maginness; brother Steven D. Minear; and sister-in-law Sylvia B. Hoversten Minear.

She is survived by her mother Bernadine B. Minear; daughter Ashley Ryan Burns; granddaughter Andrea Nicole Hernandez; grandson Keytin; granddaughters Haylin, Addy and Ally; brother Jay C. Minear; sister Shelley Ann Buchannan; her faithful friend Adrianne Forson; her trusted companion Zach the wonder dog; and many family and friends who loved her dearly.

Serena worked in the medical industry and DJ’d many years for Noones Tunes in Kansas City. Serena was a special lady to her family and friends, always a happy person and never forgot a name.

Phillipsburg resident Sandra Aust passed away April 27, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays at the age of 82.&nbsp; She was born April 29, 1938, in Emporia, the daughter of B.J. &amp; Eva Lucille (DeYoung) Leazure. &nbsp;

Survivors include her sons, Scott of Norton &amp; Jary of Linn &amp; her sister, Dee Ann Meall of Minneapolis, KS.

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor Blake Stanwood officiating.&nbsp; The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.

Ella Mae Ritter, 78, of Salina, passed away peacefully in her home on April 22, 2021.&nbsp; She was born June 20, 1942 to Bernard and Viola Lindblad in Clarkfield, Minnesota and dearly loved her siblings, LeRoy, VeLoris (Dee) and Roger.&nbsp; She enjoyed spending time with them and telling stories of when they were young. Ella graduated from Lakewood High School, Denver, Colorado. Ella used her farm work ethic to rise from a real estate secretary to owning her own real estate agency, Realty Associates.&nbsp; She served many clients over her 50+ years in the real estate industry.&nbsp; Ella loved to travel. Although she traveled to many states, her favorite locations were where family gatherings occurred: &nbsp;Arizona, Florida, Colorado and Minnesota. She was a great cook and everyone loved her homemade meals, especially her pies.&nbsp; Sewing and decorating her home for each holiday brought joy to her heart. She is survived by her three children, Tammie Craigmile-Green, Troy Drown, and Todd Drown, and granddaughter, Kayla Craigmile. Beula Mae “Boots” Haxton, 90, died at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott 
City, on April 22, 2021.&nbsp; She was born on Feb. 26, 1931, the youngest of
 eight children, to Ernest G. and Jennie (King) Walz, on the family farm
 southwest of Grinnell.

Her first three years of education were at Grinnell Grade School 
before her mother and the five youngest children moved to Oakley in 
1941. She graduated from Oakley High School in 1949.&nbsp; Upon graduation, 
Beula began working for her brother, Floyd, at Walz Jewelry for two 
years and then became a teller at the Farmers State Bank in Oakley.

She married Don Haxton on Sept. 6, 1953. He died on April 29, 2010, in Scott City.

Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to North Platte, 
Nebr., where Don worked for a commercial printing shop and Beula worked 
at a bank. During the next seven years, their three children were born 
in&nbsp; North Platte - Rodney (1955), David (1957), and Joni (1958).&nbsp; 
Following a year in Eaton, Colo., the couple purchased their first 
newspaper, The Glasco Sun, in May of 1962.&nbsp; They were also part owners 
of the Hugoton Hermes for a year.&nbsp; They were in between newspapers for 
another year, living at Norton and Alma, Nebr., before purchasing the 
Kiowa County Signal in Greensburg in 1970. They purchased The Kinsley 
Mercury in 1974.&nbsp; The couple semi-retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1984 
when they sold The Mercury. Two years later they sold The Signal.&nbsp; The 
couple moved to Scott City in 2007.

Beula was an avid golfer, she loved to sew and she enjoyed dancing and big band music.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and 
their husbands, Ida and John Suter, Betty and Duane Gibson, and Della 
and Don Lamb; four brothers, Ernie and Icie Walz, Floyd and Leah Walz, 
Eddie and Marguerite Walz, and Christ Walz; two grandsons, Tyler and 
Ryan Haxton; and a son-in-law, Randy Pottberg.

She is survived by her three children, Rod Haxton and his wife, 
Kathy, Scott City, David Haxton and his wife, Sherri, McPherson, and 
Joni Pottberg and Myles Veeder, Dodge City; four grandchildren, Jade and
 Troy Gilpin, Fredrick, Colo., Heather Haxton, McPherson, Jaci and Dusty
 Brake, Salina, and Dustin Pottberg, Dodge City; two step-grandchildren,
 Tony Jasnoch, Kearney, Nebr., and Melissa Jasnoch, Scott City; two of 
her favorite nieces, Edith Clark and Janet Collins, both of Oakley; a 
sister-in-law, Marjorie Jeambey, Lincoln, Nebr.; and numerous other 
nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

The funeral service will be held Fri., April 30, 2:00 p.m., at Price

Beula Mae 'Boots' Haxton

James Edward Trumbo, 81, was born August 4, 1939, in Chula, Missouri, the third child to Maurice A. and Lucile (Sandy) Trumbo.
 James graduated from Boulder High School in 1958. He worked for the 
Bureau of Reclamation as an Engineer Lab Technician Investigation for 
dams in California and Norton, KS. In 1968 he graduated with a BS Degree
 in Accounting from Walla Walla University in Washington. He earned a 
CPA Certificate in 1972. He worked in Oregon, California, Kansas, 
Nebraska, Colorado, and New Mexico.
 James was a certified instructor in Disaster Preparedness. He was an
 amateur radio operator from 1972 until 2007. He worked for Nelson 
Farms, Inc. of Long Island, KS for sixteen years until his retirement in
 2005 due to health concerns. 
 James was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, lastly of Norton, KS. He was an elder and treasurer from 1968-2017.
 James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, of fifty-four 
years, Joyce (Whitney) Trumbo; sister, Marcia Babbit; brother-in-law, 
Egon Boettcher.
 James is survived by his three sons; Timothy (Tema) Trumbo of Saint 
Francis, KS, Richard (Kerrie) Trumbo of Callaway, NE and Steven Trumbo 
of Salina, KS; sister, Arlene Boettcher of Tennessee; sister-in-law, 
Beth (Whitney) Lee of Norton, KS; ten grandchildren and two great 
grandchildren.

Nelda Mae Ralston, daughter of Clarence and Lena (Cockroft) Lanman, was born February 11, 1930 at home in Phillips County Kansas. She went home to be with the Lord at Bryan West Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

Nelda attended grade school at Crystal Creek Country School from 1937- 1944. She lived with her Aunt Gladys and Uncle Charley in Alma, NE. while attending Alma High School and graduated in May of 1948. On June 18, 1948 she married Roger Ralston at Englewood Wesleyan Church in Phillips County.&nbsp; They were the parents of Ronelle, Lonnie, and Michael.

Nelda and Roger lived in Phillips County after they married, also moving to the sandhills in 1956, and to Concordia in 1958 where they lived for 14 years.&nbsp; They moved to Clay Center, Kansas in 1971 where they lived through their retirement. &nbsp;She and Roger enjoyed traveling and camping until her beloved husband’s untimely passing in 1992.&nbsp;

Nelda was a homemaker and did childcare in her home. She worked many years as a nurse’s aide, and then for Wohler’s cleaners in Clay Center.&nbsp; 

She was active in her church activities and the Home Extension Office club.&nbsp; After retirement, she took many bus trips and enjoyed eating out at local restaurants, and visiting her daughter for two weeks at Christmas time in Phoenix, AZ.&nbsp; Nelda served as an officer and member of the Extension Homemaker’s Unit (EHU) for 14 years, was a faithful member of Wesleyan Church in Concordia and Clay Center for 45 years, participated in a Clay Center bowling league for 15 years, served as Community Mission Director for Wesleyan Women for eight years, and volunteered for church youth activities, camp outings, and as a Sunday school teacher. &nbsp;She helped with local fundraising drives.&nbsp; Nelda enjoyed embroidering, knitting, crocheting, and latch hooking gifts for her children and grandbabies.&nbsp; She was a good wife, mother, and “Grandma”.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was always happy to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; 

In 2015 Nelda moved to a condo at Van Dorn Villa in Lincoln, NE to be closer to her son Mike and his family. She attended Heartland Bible Church in Lincoln and remained in touch with friends and family through email and phone calls.&nbsp; She was an avid list maker, and had a sharp memory for names, dates and details. Her family and her faith were very important to her.&nbsp; She loved the Lord and His Word. She especially loved singing hymns, always remembering the lyrics, even up to her last day on earth. &nbsp;

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband Roger Ralston and only brother, Kenneth Lanman of Alma, NE. Nelda is survived and was affectionately loved by her three children, eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren:

Son Michael Ralston and wife Charlotte of Lincoln, NE and their five grown children: Randy, and wife Julie, children Kayla, Levi, Olivia, Isaac, Lilianna.&nbsp; Alex and his daughter Adalyn.&nbsp; Charles and wife Cheyenne.&nbsp; Peter and wife Abigail, children Riley and Daniel.&nbsp; Micah Ralston, her youngest grandson, all of Lincoln, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral home in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Casket bearers are her grandsons Derek, Randy, Alex, Charles, Peter, Micah, and granddaughters’ husbands Eric and John.&nbsp;

Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas, next to her dear husband of 44 years, until the final resurrection, but her spirit is with the Lord now and for eternity.

She worked many years as a nurse’s aide, and then for Wohler’s cleaners in Clay Center.&nbsp; She was active in her church activities and the Home Extension Office club.&nbsp; After retirement, she took many bus trips and enjoyed eating out at local restaurants, and visiting her daughter for two weeks at Christmas time in Phoenix, AZ.&nbsp; Nelda served as an officer and member of the Extension Homemaker’s Unit (EHU) for 14 years, was a faithful member of Wesleyan Church in Concordia and Clay Center for 45 years, participated in a Clay Center bowling league for 15 years, served as Community Mission Director for Wesleyan Women for eight years, and volunteered for church youth activities, camp outings, and as a Sunday school teacher. &nbsp;She helped with local fundraising drives.&nbsp; Nelda enjoyed embroidering, knitting, crocheting, and latch hooking gifts for her children and grandbabies.&nbsp; She was a good wife, mother, and “Grandma”.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was always happy to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; In 2015 Nelda moved to a condo at Van Dorn Villa in Lincoln, NE to be closer to her son Mike and his family. She attended Heartland Bible Church in Lincoln and remained in touch with friends and family through email and phone calls.&nbsp; She was an avid list maker, and had a sharp memory for names, dates and details. Her family and her faith were very important to her.&nbsp; She loved the Lord and His Word. She especially loved singing hymns, always remembering the lyrics, even up to her last day on earth. &nbsp;Nelda was preceded in death by her husband Roger Ralston and only brother, Kenneth Lanman of Alma, NE. Nelda is survived and was affectionately loved by her three children, eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren:Daughter Ronelle Ralston of Phoenix, AZSon Lonnie Ralston and wife Marvette, of Baldwin City, KS, and their three grown children: Heather, and husband Eric Staab, children Trent, Dayton, Elin of Topeka.&nbsp; Derek Ralston, and fiancé Joanna Chan of San Francisco, CA, Holly, and husband John Rickner, children Oaklee and Hattie of Chanute, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Son Michael Ralston and wife Charlotte of Lincoln, NE and their five grown children: Randy, and wife Julie, children Kayla, Levi, Olivia, Isaac, Lilianna.&nbsp; Alex and his daughter Adalyn.&nbsp; Charles and wife Cheyenne.&nbsp; Peter and wife Abigail, children Riley and Daniel.&nbsp; Micah Ralston, her youngest grandson, all of Lincoln, NE.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral home in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Casket bearers are her grandsons Derek, Randy, Alex, Charles, Peter, Micah, and granddaughters’ husbands Eric and John.&nbsp;Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas, next to her dear husband of 44 years, until the final resurrection, but her spirit is with the Lord now and for eternity.Memorial contributions may be made to Voice of the Martyrs, a Wesleyan Mission and sent to the funeral home.

He was a member of Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge. Larry enjoyed hunting, following sports, fishing, studying the bible, doing yard work, listening to music, taking care of Carol, and spending time with his friends and family. Larry Goering was united in marriage to Ailene Catherine Billings on July 15, 1972 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The young couple established their first home together in Greeley, Colorado and then moved to Moundridge, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, Chris and Angie. Charles enjoyed visiting with family and friends and good conversations.&nbsp;&nbsp; 

His loving family includes his son Leland (Dana) Loy of Killeen, TX; grandchildren Cody Loy, Jessy Loy, Jessica Mizell, Aaron Wiggins and Cory Wiggins and his sister Jean Jamison of San Antonio, TX.&nbsp; 

Charles passed away on April 22, 2021 at Legacy of Herington.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kellie Wiggins, grandson Nicholas Searles and an infant twin brother.&nbsp;

Robert Leon Steimel, 74, of Concordia, Kansas, died April 23, 2021. Bob was born December 4, 1946, in Dodge City, Kansas, the son and oldest child of Herman and Waneta Vogel Steimel.&nbsp; He was the oldest grandchild of Martin and Adela Vogel and Adolph and Anna Steimel.&nbsp;

The oldest of six children, “Bobby” was an early leader, and close to his siblings for his entire life.&nbsp; He graduated from Claflin High School in 1964, and went on to be the first in his family to graduate college in his family with a bachelor of accounting from FHSU in 1968, and then an MBA from KSU in 1973.&nbsp; He joined Kennedy and Coe, LLC in 1973, working first in Colby, KS then moving to Concordia, where he became managing partner.&nbsp; He worked for Kennedy and Coe, LLC for 29 years before retiring in 2002.&nbsp; He was a lifetime member of the Kansas Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.&nbsp;

He served in the Army as a Specialist 5th&nbsp;Class from 1968 to 1971, and during that time was stationed in both Turkey (NATO) and the state of Washington.&nbsp;

Bob married Maridell Goings, in 1970 in Claflin, KS. &nbsp;From their marriage, Bob and Maridell have four children, fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He enjoyed being a father, teasing his children with his wry sense of humor, attending their plays, concerts, and sporting events, and taking them to KSU games.&nbsp; Maridell preceded him in death in 1996. &nbsp;Bob remarried&nbsp; in 2006, to Lorene Baxa in Concordia, KS.&nbsp; They loved to travel to visit their children and grandchildren in all parts of the country.

Throughout his life, Bob served on numerous committees, boards, and organizations,&nbsp; notably, the Knights of Columbus, reaching 4th&nbsp;degree navigator within the Knights and serving as District Deputy from 2010-2014; Rotary, serving as local president and then District Governor; the Cloud County Community College Foundation; Cloud Corp; and St. Joseph Hospital Board.&nbsp; He started the CCCC auction in 1981 and founded the Notre Dame Scholarship Trust with OLPH.

In Bob’s view, his greatest gift to the community of Concordia was the Community Foundation for Cloud County that he founded in 2002.&nbsp; Bob worked tirelessly for 19 years to build the Foundation to the entity it is today, establishing a lasting gift that will benefit the area for years to come.
