Kenneth “Kenny” James Short, Jr., 51, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Health Center. He worked as a miner in the Stillwater Mine in Montana.

Kenny was born on December 15, 1969, in Pittsburg, KS, the son of Kenneth James Short, Sr. and Sheila Joann (Griffin) Short. On April 19, 2010, Kenny was united in marriage to Kelly J. Eddy in McPherson, KS.

Survivors include: his wife Kelly of the home; children Tia Evans (Tyler) of Powell, WY, Walker Short of Powell, WY, Gracie Short (Justin) of Cartersville, GA, Zachary Kintigh (Leigh) of Wichita, KS, Taylor O’Neill (Stephen) of McPherson, KS, Alexis Jones of Wichita, KS, Maddison Jones of McPherson, KS, and Hunter Short of McPherson, KS; his mother Sheila Rhuems of Mindenmines, MO; siblings Kerry Short of Mindenmines, MO, Trevor Short of Mindenmines, MO, Travis Short (Brandee) of Mindenmines, MI, and Nick Short (Kristin) of Arkansas; grandchildren Claudio and Lilliauna Evans, Skyla White, Liam and Seraphina Kintigh, Jacob Gill, Preston Rice, and Grand Gecko Kiwi; close friends he considered family, Joe Nemecheck, Ywain Orler, Joe Parker, Tyler Lyon, Garret Lyon, Trevor Ferguson, and Lance Smith; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth James Short, Sr.; grandparents John and Maybell Short and J.W. and Imogene Hukill; parents-in-law Sharon and Michael Alexander; and a nephew, Michael Smith.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at McPherson Church of Christ with Pastor Keith Lyon officiating.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Moorhead Cemetery in Lamar, MO.
