July 2, 1943 - October 6, 2021

Dewey L. Adams, 78, of Clay Center, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born July 2, 1943, in Clay Center, the son of Alwin and Julia (Yarrow) Adams. 

Dewey graduated from CCCHS in 1961.  He served in the Army National Guard following high school graduation. 

On December 27, 1963, Dewey married Carol Trost of Concordia.  He farmed in Clay County his entire life and in 2014, Dewey and Carol were the recipients of the Kansas Master Farmer and Homemaker award.  He worked many years during the winter at Gilmore-Tatge, Carlson Heating and Air and as a field technician for FSA (Farm Service Agency).

He was an active member of the Mizpah United Methodist Church, volunteered for the Wakefield Rural Fire Department for over 50 years, served on the Clay County Fair Board, Kansas Young Farmer’s Association, past member of the Clay Center Elks Club and a past member of the Jaycees.  Dewey also enjoyed his many trips to Nicaragua to help build over 17 churches.  Dewey was also very talented with his hands in repairs, welding and woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Wife: Carol Adams of Clay Center, KS

Daughter: Rhonda and husband, Jim Gierhan of Clay Center, KS

Two grandsons:  Adam and wife, Amanda Gierhan and Ryan and wife, Rebecka Gierhan and two great-grandchildren, Konnor and Abigail

Sister: Alice and husband, Dallas Iseli of Clay Center, KS

Brother: Carroll and wife, Mary Adams of Clay Center, KS

He is also survived by an aunt, an uncle, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mizpah United Methodist Church, rural Wakefield, Kansas

Burial: Mizpah Cemetery, rural Wakefield, Kansas

Visitation: Friday, October 8, 2021 from 3-8 p.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas
