Alberta Mae Wright, age 80, of Camarillo, CA, passed away August 28, 2021 at home, after a long battle with COPD.
She was born October 27, 1940 in Council Grove, KS, the daughter of Theodore James Turner and Madalyn Belle Reeder Turner.
Alberta married Gerald W. Moyer (Shorty) on December 15, 1957. This union added two children, Rhonda S. Moyer-Noda and Forrest W. Moyer. Later Alberta married Donald Wright in Wichita, KS.
Alberta’s life was filled with challenges and surprises! She quit school when she was 14 years old. At the age of 26 she petitioned the Galva School Board to return to high school to attain her high school diploma, which she did in 1968. After completing this goal she went to work at the McPherson County Extension Office where she worked for many years. She also worked for CertainTeed Corporation, Alliance Life, Kansas State Social Welfare system, and Wichita State University, from which she retired.
She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Noda (husband Victor) and her son Forrest Moyer (wife Nancy); five grandchildren, Isabelle Scott (husband Bret), Ivanna Moyer (fiancé Joshua Morton), Israel Moyer, Ilanna Moyer (fiancé Joshua Morton), and Isiah Moyer; and one great-grandson Ronin Scott; two sisters, Velma Duncun and Viola Hollar (husband Raymond); a sister-in-law, Maybelle Turner; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Theodor Turner, Jr., Delbert Turner, Roland Turner, Harry Turner, and Kenneth Turner; and four sisters, Doris Turner Hight, Mary Bernice Turner, Madelyn Maxine Turner Wells, and Melba Turner Gray.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
Burial will be at the Dunlap Cemetery, rural Rose Hill, Kansas.
