Obituary for Linda Louise (Louie) (Youngblood) Saunders | Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home

Linda Louise (Louie) Saunders, daughter of Arthur Melvin Youngblood II and Louise (Grueber) Youngblood was born March 6, 1949 at Deshler, Nebraska and passed away on March 30, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas at the age of 73.

After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Doane College, Crete, Nebraska with a BA degree in elementary education.&nbsp;She was an elementary school teacher for 42 years, teaching every grade from K to 5, between the Superior, Nebraska and Pike Valley school districts. She was in charge of the Republic County spelling bee for many years, and exciting young minds about learning was her passion.&nbsp;She also loved music and the arts. She played the tuba and was in many plays. Anytime you saw her she always had a joke for you. She was an animal lover, and owned many birds and dogs over the years.

&nbsp;She was united in marriage to Elgin Saunders on May 23, 1975 and to this union two children were born, Angel and John.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Courtland, Kansas and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Louise Youngblood, one brother, Arthur (Mick) Melvin Youngblood III.

&nbsp;She is survived by her husband Elgin Saunders of Courtland, KS, one daughter, Angel (Lucas) Zeller of Paxico, KS, one son, John Saunders of York, NE, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held&nbsp;2 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, United Methodist Church, Courtland, KS, conducted by, Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock.

Interment will be in White Rock Cemetery, rural Courtland, KS.

Memorials may be given to the Linda L. Saunders Memorial Fund.

Friends may call&nbsp;on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS, where the family will greet friends&nbsp;from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. &nbsp;Linda has mentioned to family that when this time came, she didn’t want sad, black formal clothes, just dress nice.  She married Marvin Schwab on April 28, 1979.&nbsp; They made their home in Morganville.&nbsp;

 Polly owned and operated Polly’s ceramics and taught pottery classes in Morganville for 41 years.&nbsp; She also worked at Ray’s Applemarket in Clay Center for 6 years.&nbsp; Polly was a former member of the Morganville Lion’s Club.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing bingo and watching her grandson participate in football and wrestling.&nbsp;

Dianne’s life began on January 9, 1960, in Florence. She was the daughter of Delano F. and Barbara Anne (Harbison) O’Dell. Dianne was a 1978 graduate of Marion High School. 

She worked for the Marion County Treasurer’s Office for several years as a clerk and had been the city clerk at Florence. Prior to working in local government, Dianne was a seismologist and worked in several and varied locations. 

Dianne was fortunate to have found love twice in her life, first to husband James Hinton, who preceded her in death and then to Don Burnett, who she married April 6, 1994, in Reno. 

Dianne was an expert homebody. She loved to be in her jammies, enjoying time with family. She was a fan of watching old western movies and enjoyed football, rooting on her NY Giants. 

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Don of Marion, brother Mike O’Dell of Marion; nieces Erin (Shawn) Markley of Lee Summit, and Caitlin (Jake) Adkins of St. George, KS; and great-nieces and nephews Ella, Lily, Logan, Reagan, Quinn, and Collins. 

Dianne passed away at her home on Thursday March 31, 2022. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband James Hinton, and brother Scott O’Dell. 

Her family will gather with friends on Monday April 4, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Her graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.

Ardella Kasten Obituary 2022 - Yazel - Megli Funeral Homes (yazelmeglifh.com)

Ardella M. Kasten, entered the Kingdom of Glory, on March 31, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born December 6, 1925, on the family farm west of White City, to Otto and Lydia (Albrecht) Hansen.

Ardella attended local schools and graduated from White City High School with the class of 1944. 

On August 28, 1944, Ardella married the love of her life Clyde in White City. This union was blessed with five children.

 Ardella was a homemaker on the family farm, raising her children, planting a garden and raising vegetables for the family.&nbsp; Another priority of Ardella’s was raising chickens and caring for all the farm cats. She also enjoyed raising flowers and with these flowers she would supply flowers for the church altar. Ardella was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild.&nbsp; Ardella loved to quilt, making quilts for many family members through out the years. She belonged to several social clubs over the years and loved taking care of her grandchildren throughout the years. 

Family was very important to Ardella; she never missed a chance to spend time with her family and she always would cook big meals for them. Ardella loved watching K-State sports and loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs play. But her favorite thing to do was watch her grandchildren’s sporting events regardless of the sports.

Ardella is survived by her husband of 78 years, Clyde, sons Gary (Connie), of Manhattan, Wayne of White City, Randy (Catherine) of Herington, and Richard (Darlene) of White City, her sister Barbara Tiede, her 10 grandchildren Shanda (Jared) Wilson, Shawn (Lorri) Kasten, Shane (Melissa) Kasten, Shelly (Brandon)Woods, Kerry (Lacie) Kasten, Joshua Kasten, Betsy Kasten, Kyler (Tana) Kasten, Kilynn (Zeb) Elliott, Kasey (Tanner) Anderson, great-grandchildren Lindsey and Luke Wilson, Grayson, Kaitlyn, and Addison Kasten, Jacob Kasten, Cutler and Kinsley Jo Kasten, Kamryn and Kreyton Anderson, Kymber, Kale, Koy and Keeley Kasten, Kannen and Kycen Elliott, and stepgrandchildren Alicia (Michael) McDaniel, Brandon Mottel and Troy Dodd. 

Ardella is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Gelane, sisters Delores Sampson and Linda Vermillion. &nbsp;

Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington Chapel is serving the family.

Funeral Services for Ardella M. Kasten will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on April 11, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend King Crawford officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice, 11 Broadway St., Herington, KS 67449.

Barbara Sue (Peters) Lomax, 78, Osborne, was born September 17, 1943 in Downs, Kansas to Preston and Evelyn Peters. She passed away&nbsp;Friday April 1, 2022 at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital in Osborne, Kansas.&nbsp;

Barbara graduated from Downs High School in 1961 and then moved to Salina to attend Academy of Hair Design. She spent years as a cosmetologist where she enjoyed conversation with her clientele. Barbara also spent years caring for people in the nursing home and hospital in Osborne as a CNA/CMA and also served as a para- professional at the high school and grade school in Osborne.&nbsp;

She married her husband&nbsp;John Lomax April 22,&nbsp;1967 in Beloit, Kansas. John and Barbara lived in both Cawker City and Osborne where they raised their children.&nbsp;

Barbara enjoyed “cruising” around in Osborne and the surrounding area, gardening, discussing politics, playing cards and games, and spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her laugh, her sense of humor, and stubborn, yet passionate soul.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband John Lomax of the home; daughter Shan Holloway and husband Brian, of Osborne; daughter Gina Smith and husband Chris of Ellis; son Rhett Lomax of Osborne; grandson Tracy Holloway and wife Lacey of Osborne; grandson Shaylon Holloway and Alisha, Grace and Gabe Smith of Downs; and grandson Easton Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; and two great-grandchildren Donovan and Dixon Holloway of Osborne.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and&nbsp;sister, Patricia Centlivre.&nbsp;&nbsp;

At Barbara's request a graveside memorial will be announced at a later date.

Ellaina Marie Brightbill 42, passed away on Thursday March 31, 2022. She was born on July 29, 1979, in Salina, the daughter of Bernard and Theresa (Roesner) White.

She graduated from Ell-Saline HS in 1997and attended Colby Community College where she was an active cross-country and band member. She earned a BS degree from Kansas Wesleyan University.

Ellaina met her husband, Jason Brightbill, in&nbsp;2017. They were married on September&nbsp;19, 2020.&nbsp; They were both the love of each other's lives.

She spent her working years providing physical and Lymphedema therapy to those in need. She was devoted to her patients and provided an abundance of comfort and healing to them.

To say Ellaina was one of-a-kind is an understatement.&nbsp; She was enthusiastic, loving and quirky, yet one of the most intelligent individuals.&nbsp; No one could pull&nbsp;a prank and take a joke like Ellaina, and she always seemed oblivious to her beauty and wit.

She is preceded&nbsp;in death by her father, Bernard White.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband, Jason Brightbill; son, Jonah Mattson; mother, Theresa White; in laws, Bill and Debbie Brightbill; brothers, Andy White, and Daniel White; sister, Bridget Brocato (Ryan); nephews, Dylan White, Nolan White and Larsen Brocato; niece, Fallon Brocato; the Mattson families, many aunts, uncles and cousins; and her beloved giant furbabies, Bonnie and Clyde.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, Kansas. There will be a Rosary at 10:30.&nbsp;p.m. prior to the Mass. A parish luncheon will follow the services. A private burial will take place later in the day.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salina Animal services on her behalf.

Wayne Crowder was born on Sept. 2, 1969, in Alexandria, VA. He passed away at the age of 52 at his home in Salina, KS on March 17, 2022.

Wayne was raised by his loving Grandma Grace I. Crowder (Igo). Wayne attended school at Oakdale, North Jr. High, and Central High. He later attended VoTech in Salina, KS, twice: for Carpentry Nov. 1994-April 1995 and machine shop in 2003. He worked at Beech/Ratheon; C&amp;L Seal Storage; with his Dad, Clinton Crowder, on roofs; and he was self employed.

Wayne was happiest when he was working on his race car "#41" and racing at Salina Speedway. He enjoyed fishing and his music.

He is survived by brother Jeff E. Crowder, sister Ashley K. Hagen, Uncle Melvin Crowder, Aunts Jennifer Crowder-Kerr and Brenda Crowder, newphews and a niece, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Crowder, his mother, Brenda Howard (Crowder), Grandma Grace Crowder Igo, Uncle Orville "Bouncer" Crowder, and his cat, Roscoe.

Bobby D. Priddy, Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at his home in Holyrood, KS. He was born September 9, 1946, in Hinton, OK to Coy C. and Joan R. (Reeder) Priddy.

Bobby served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the American Legions of Ellsworth, KS (Post 174) and El Reno, OK (Post 34), as well as, the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485. Bobby always had an American flag flying at his home. He was a proud veteran and was honored to have served his country.&nbsp;Bobby was also a longtime member of the NRA. 

He enjoyed traveling on bus tours, fishing, rodeos, taking his classic cars to car shows, and spending time with his family. Anything he planted would be bountiful. He always shared produce from his garden with family and friends. Bobby enjoyed growing watermelons and cantaloupe and was known to many as Watermelon Bob. He loved having his grandchildren in the garden with him and enjoyed spending time on his tractors. Bobby always had a joke or good story to tell.

Bobby is survived by his son Bobby Priddy, Jr. (DeAnn) of Tishomingo, OK; daughter Denae Smith (Kevin) of Ellsworth; son Lee Brawley (Gena) of Fairview, OK; grandchildren Caisha, Taryn, and Nevaeh Brawley, Megan Dominguez (Arturo), Caitlin Coppock (Michael), Kendra Rohrig (Dylan), Kassady Ledet (Nick), Kellen Smith, Laci Kennedy (Anthony Maxey), Bailey McCollom (Tyler), Ross Priddy (Delaney), Jimmy Priddy, Terrell Priddy, and Keith Priddy; great-grandchildren, Trapper, Tinsley, Jordan, Xander, Xylan, Onalee, and Raegan; siblings Coy Priddy, Jr. (Darlene) of Yukon, OK, Laquita Bond of Ada, OK, and Colleen Shelby of Hinton; and many nieces and nephews.

(Reeder) Priddy.Bobby served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the American Legions of Ellsworth, KS (Post 174) and El Reno, OK (Post 34), as well as, the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485. Bobby always had an American flag flying at his home. He was a proud veteran and was honored to have served his country.&nbsp;Bobby was also a longtime member of the NRA. He enjoyed traveling on bus tours, fishing, rodeos, taking his classic cars to car shows, and spending time with his family. Anything he planted would be bountiful. He always shared produce from his garden with family and friends. Bobby enjoyed growing watermelons and cantaloupe and was known to many as Watermelon Bob. He loved having his grandchildren in the garden with him and enjoyed spending time on his tractors. Ronald was a longtime resident of Lincoln where he worked over 45 years for the city of Lincoln, retiring as the city superintendent. He was a member of the Lincoln VFW Auxiliary and the Central Christian Church.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Janet (Lilly) Reed, 87, passed from this life on March 29, 2022 in the comfort of her home.&nbsp; She was born November 8, 1934 in Belleville, Kansas, the daughter of Jack &amp; Agnes (Jensen) Lilly.&nbsp; She moved to California in 1942 where she was educated and lived throughout her childhood.&nbsp; Jackie graduated from Leuzinger High School, Hawthorne, California in 1952.&nbsp; 

She married Reginald “Reggie” O. Reed in Quartzsite, Arizona on November 7, 1953 and returned to Kansas.

Jackie, Reggie and family farmed in Republic County Kansas their entire married life.&nbsp; While being an active farm wife, Jackie was also employed off the farm over the years at the Republic Co. FSA, Clarence Gile Insurance Agency, and managing agent of the Johnson Insurance Agency for over 35 years. While at the Johnson Insurance Agency and Swedish American State Bank, Jackie was especially fond of her coworkers and customers and was known to take time to read children a book or two while their parents conducted business in the bank.&nbsp; It was also common to see those young customers’ “artwork” posted on the walls in her office.&nbsp;

 Jackie was a true people person with a sharp wit and generous character.&nbsp; The grandmother of nine, anything was “ok” at Grandma’s house.&nbsp; Her great-grandchildren were fortunate to have her as an active part of their young lives as well.&nbsp; Grandma and Grandad always had time for grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Woolsey and Cheri Lilly, and parents-in-law.&nbsp; 

Survivors include Reginald “Reggie” O. Reed, rural Courtland; children Michael E. Reed (Susan Illig) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melinda L. Reed-Hettick (Bob) of Stevensville, Montana and Mark E. Reed (Saundra) of Courtland, Kansas; grandchildren Dane Reed, Janine (Carl) Heincker, Matthew (Rebekah) Hettick, Katie (Bret) Reed-Carlgren, Davin Reed, Michael (Anne) Hettick, Andrew Hettick, Neely (Roger) Reed-Kohmetscher, Marisa Reed; 15 great-grandchildren, Bailee, Blair, Brandt, Reed, Bella, Ruca, Blaise, Blakely, Ansley, Eden, Bristol, Brene, Grace, Basil and Carson; special friends and caregivers Theresa Campbell, Tami Wiezorek, and Terry Tibbets.&nbsp;

Jan L. Nondorf, the daughter of Glenn Wineinger and Hazel (Pimlott) Wineinger, was born March 12, 1955 in Belleville, Kansas and passed away on March 28, 2022 at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 67 years and 6 days.

Jan grew up and attended schools in Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On June 17, 1972 she was united in marriage to Mike Nondorf and to this union was born one daughter, Tammie.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; They made their home on a farm south of Scandia, Kansas later moving to Belleville, Kansas.

Jan worked at an early age for a feedlot in Republic, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp; She later was a cook at Republic County Hospital and the Lutheran Home in Belleville.&nbsp;&nbsp; She also worked at the Caffé Haus in Scandia and for several years at Casey’s as a cook and baker.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jan was a member of the Scandia American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mike and Jan were members of the Swinging Swedes and the Kickin’ Kountry Kloggers, dancing together for several years.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jan also loved showing and riding horses.

She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Hazel Wineinger;&nbsp; daughter Tammie;&nbsp; sister Carolyn Favinger;&nbsp; brother Darrel Wineinger;&nbsp; nephew Blaine Favinger;&nbsp; brother-in-law Howard Herrman; and cousin Gerry Ronnebaum.

Jan is survived by her husband Mike Nondorf of Belleville, Kansas;&nbsp; three sisters,&nbsp; Paula Herrman of Norway, Kansas,&nbsp; Lois Walkenhorst of Kansas City, MO, and Dawn (Brian) Phillips of Belleville, KS;&nbsp; special cousin Beverly Ronnebaum of Topeka, Kansas; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Pastor Kathy Aeillo, officiating.

Lehigh - Ryan Scott Schierling, 32, passed away March 27, 2022 at his residence in Lehigh. He was born April 5, 1989 in Newton, Kansas to Duane and Jill (Westbrook) Schierling.

On April 5th, 1989 at 7:15 p.m., Ryan Scott Schierling entered this world as a gift from God to Duane A. and Jill R. (Westbrook) Schierling in Newton, KS. He was welcomed home by his older sisters Megan Marie Hein (7 years older) and Melissa Kay Enns (4 years older).

When he was only 5 years old, his mom said that Ryan was full of energy, very strong-willed, and had a mind of his own. These are the traits that reflected in his career moves as Ryan stated to Mel, he was building his resume to improve his family’s life and to make a difference in this world! Ryan really stressed about how crazy this world had become! Trump! 2024. Let’s Go Brandon!

Ryan’s love for agriculture started with his father working as a livestock nutritionist. Those career moves were Klassen Dairy, Cooperative Grain and Supply (obtained licensure for commercial pesticide), Crop Production Services as a custom applicator, went back to Cooperative Grain and Supply as a custom applicator. He was encouraged by an acquaintance to be a sprayer diesel technician at Land Diesel Inc. This is where his love for Challenger’s equipment derived from. His last career move was to McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility as a mechanic. That concludes Ryan’s career resume. Significant moments in Ryan’s life: Birth of his first daughter Adelyn Jo Winter on September 14th 2007. Trip with his dad to Oberlin, KS to pickup a chocolate lab that he named after the brand of mud tires on his truck, Dayton Timberline. Dayton comforted his dad during his battle with esophageal cancer in 2009, that took his life, a traumatic event for Ryan. Ryan met the love of his life, Mellissa Scott, in 2012. On Christmas Eve of 2013, as much as they loved each other, Ryan asked for Mel’s hand in marriage. As a result of their love for one another, they welcomed Haley Ann into this world on March 3rd, 2014.

Learning how to fish for bluecats from Randal, they went on a guided night fishing trip at Milford Lake. Randal was a significant influence on Ryan purchasing a V-Cat 200 SeaArk Boat. This lead to our family's annual fishing trips to Milford. Ryan and Mel was always with each other from the morning they woke up until they went to bed. Their weekends were full of everyday life but always made an attempt to do fun things. Anyone who knew them, knew that the whole family would be there because they couldn’t live without each other.

Ryan took on a skill he learned from his father of butchering hogs and processing his own meat. Ryan and his wife Mel made it an annual winter project. Hoping that Haley would follow in her dad’s footsteps. Ryan loved to be creative and unique when creating his own chicken coop. His love of cooking lead him to create many spicy meats from the wild. Ryan added “the spice to life” for he, Mel, Haley, and Adi.

Another life changing event happened in the summer of 2020 when his mother passed away from having heart failure. He made sure his family at home was taken care of but also made sure his mom was taken care of as well.

Even though the death of his mother was still heavy on him, Mel proposed to Ryan on Christmas Eve of 2021, she loved him dearly and wanted to get this marriage going. She reinacted the same way Ryan proposed to her back in 2013. It was an emotional time since the two of them wanted to get it finalized.

Ryan cared deeply about the friendships he had with Randal, Dakota, Travis, Wade, Fooster, Brice, Chris, Tyler, Levi, JJ and Brett. He frequently made it a point to check in on his friends and their families, even if it occurred late in the evening and may have had a drink or 2 under his belt and would be a “Chatty Cathy!” Many of us will miss those late night check-in calls from Ryan and would end with: “you take care”, “until we talk again”, or just “love ya, man!”

Ryan left us unexpectedly on March 27th, 2022. May we find comfort in him entering his eternal life with his mother, father, and grandmother as they are welcoming him into their arms once again! 

Those left to carry on his memory and his love of the great outdoors are his wife Mellissa, and two daughters Adelyn Jo Winter, Haley Ann Schierling, along with sisters Megan (Nick) Hein, Melissa (Dustin) Enns, parents-in-law Calvin and Stephaney Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews and one chocolate lab along with many close friends.

Ryan would say to us all- “Until we talk again, remember to always prepare yourself for anything in life!” Thank you Ryan, for the memories, laughs, adventures, and most of all, thanks for being you! Florence M. Steely, 95, of McPherson, Kansas passed away on March 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 15, 1926, at the family home near White City, Kansas, the daughter of Fred A. and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich.&nbsp; Florence was a graduate of Woodbine High School, Woodbine, Kansas with the class of 1945.

Upon graduation, Florence went to work with Dr. Emig, an optometrist, as an optometrist assistant in Herington, Kansas.&nbsp; It was during her employment with Dr. Emig that this young handsome man came in for an appointment.&nbsp; Glenn B. Steely was that young man who became her life partner.&nbsp; Glenn and Florence were married on October 3, 1948, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, White City, Kansas.

Through the years of their married life, they lived in several states due to Glenn’s various business activities.&nbsp; Florence was never without a job very long, even with the various moves.&nbsp; She was very good at fitting and adjusting glasses and would work for numerous optometrists, finally retiring from this work at the age of 82.&nbsp; She and Glenn enjoyed extensive travel on their own, with bus trips, and the highlight being able to travel to Russia and Finland.

During her later years, she spent much time oil painting, being self-taught by Bob Ross books, especially in nursing homes with residents observing.

Survivors include her loving and devoted companion and best friend, JD the cat, one brother, Fred L. Herpich, one sister, Elvera Wehmeier, numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Bower officiating.&nbsp; A visitation/viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday morning.&nbsp; Burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery.
