Gail Jean Williams was born July 1, 1941, in Montezuma, Kansas, to Ralph and Flossie (Leighton) Perkins. She passed away October 4, 2022, in Salina, KS at the age of 81.
Gail attended high school at Hays High School and graduated in 1959. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s at Pittsburg State University and Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. She was a teacher in Goodland, KS for many years but also taught in Pittsburg and St. Francis, KS. Gail and John David “Dave” Williams shared 30+ years together, then on March 18, 2006, they were united in marriage in Wilson, KS .
Gail was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, even after losing her vision she switched to audiobooks and continued to quilt. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and listening to podcasts. She loved keeping in touch with her friends and was an animal lover. Gail was most proud of being a grandma. She was an active “get down on the floor and play” kind of grandma and loved doing experiments, playing trucks, and playing endless games of UNO with them.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Larry and Don Perkins. She is survived by her husband, Dave of Rexford, KS; children: Robert Walter of Sundance, WY, Lee (Anne) Walter of Everett, WA and Diane (Jason) Frazier of McPherson, KS; grandchildren: Callie Walter, Gavin Frazier, and Nolan Frazier, and sister-in-law, Wanda Perkins of Pittsburg, KS.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00AM at the Rexford Community Church. Burial in Rexford Cemetery.
