UPDATE 7:10 p.m. Thursday: A third earthquake struck late this afternoon.

At magnitude 2.4, a third quake struck at 4:39 p.m. Thursday west-southwest of Mankato, according to the Kansas Geological Survey. The quake was nearly two miles south of U.S. Highway 36 between 70 Road and 80 Road.

JEWELL COUNTY - Two more earthquakes rattled parts of Jewell County again today.

The quakes came a day after a 3.4 magnitude quake shook part of the county.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 3.6 magnitude quake struck at 7:57 a.m. Thursday several miles west of the Jewell County State Park. It was centered just north of J Road between 70 Road and 80 Road. The United States Geological Survey rated the quake at 3.2 magnitude.

The second earthquake, a 2.4 magnitude quake, struck at 8:58 a.m. Thursday north-northwest of the first, Kansas Geological Survey reported. It was centered just north of N Road and just east of 70 Road.

JEWELL COUNTY - A 3.4 magnitude earthquake shook part of Jewell County this morning.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, the quake struck at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday southwest of Mankato.

It was centered just west of 70 Road and south of K Road.

There are no reports of damage or injury, according to the Jewell County Sheriff's Office.

The United States Geological Survey reported the quake as a 2.9 magnitude quake.

Two small quakes more than a county apart shook parts of Saline and Dickinson counties in the last 24-hours.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a magnitude 2 quake struck at 11:14 p.m. Monday in far western Saline County west of the Smoky Hill Weapons Range and southwest of Brookville. It was centered just east of the Saline-Ellsworth county line near W. Parsons Road.

Then, at 3:52 a.m., a 2.2 magnitude quake shook part of Dickinson County east-northeast of Hope. The quake was centered just north of Kansas Highway 4 approximately three miles east of Hope.

The first was a 3.6 magnitude quake that struck northeast of Hope at 6:04 a.m. Saturday, according to the Kansas Geological Survey. It was centered north of 800 Avenue between Rain Road and Quail Road.

The second quake, a 3.4 magnitude temblor, struck east of Hope at 12:05 p.m. Saturday. It was centered between Kansas Highway 4 (K-4) and 600 Avenue on the north and south and Rain Road and Quail Road on the east and west.

A smaller 2.9 magnitude quake struck northeast of Hope at 4:06 p.m. Saturday. It was centered just east of Quail Road between K-4 and 800 Avenue.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 2.3 magnitude struck northeast of Randall at 4:52 p.m. Friday. The quake was just east of 290 Road between H Road and I Road.

The second temblor, a 2.1 magnitude quake, struck north-northeast of Randall at 6:11 p.m. The quake was centered just north of J Road between 260 Road and 270 Road.

HOPE -- Part of Dickinson County was shaking early this morning.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck east-northeast of Hope at 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The quake was centered north of Kansas Highway 4 between Rain Road and Quail Road.

3.5 magnitude quake shakes part of Dickinson County

JEWELL COUNTY -- No damages or injuries were reported after seven earthquakes struck part of Jewell County Thursday.

That's the word from Jewell County Emergency Preparedness Director Kevin Peroutek. 

"We've had calls, especially from those in the Formoso area but not as many you might think. The area has a history of small quakes," he said.

Another earthquake shook part of Jewell County late last night, bring the temblor total to seven.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 2.8 magnitude quake struck southwest of Formoso at 11:12 p.m. Thursday. It was centered north of N Road and east of 260 Road.

JEWELL COUNTY -- Six earthquakes have rocked Jewell County thus far since early this morning, with the strongest being a 4.1 magnitude temblor.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 4.1 magnitude quake struck at 6:35 a.m. Thursday. It was located southwest of Formoso, just north of M Road between 250 Road and 260 Road.

A magnitude 2.6 quake then struck at 6:47 a.m. Thursday. It also was located southwest of Formoso, a little more than a mile north of the first quake, between N Road and O Road on the south and north and 250 Road and 260 Road on the west and east.

At 7:16 a.m. Thursday, a magnitude 2.3 quake rattled the area west-southwest of Formoso. It was centered just north of O Road and just east of 260 Road.

At 8:04 a.m., a 3.2 magnitude quake struck further southwest of Formoso. It was centred north of L Road and east of 250 Road

A 3.5 magnitude quake then struck at 1:20 p.m. approximately a mile east of the 8:04 a.m. quake. It was centered north of L Road and east of 260 Road.

At 4:52 p.m., a magnitude 2.5 quake struck southwest of Formoso. It was on 270 Road between N Road and O Road.

JEWELL COUNTY -- No damages or injuries were reported after seven earthquakes struck part of Jewell County Thursday.That's the word from Jewell County Emergency Preparedness Director Kevin Peroutek. "We've had calls, especially from those in the Formoso area but not as many you might think. The area has a history of small quakes," he said.Another earthquake shook part of Jewell County late last night, bring the temblor total to seven.<figure>

UPDATE: Seven quakes rattled Jewell County on Thursday

Jeremiah&nbsp; Joseph “Jeremy” Slemp, 41, Hoisington, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas.

Jeremy was born November 19, 1979, in Sturgis, Michigan, the son of Joseph E. and Sandra K. (McClain) Slemp.&nbsp; He was a resident of Hoisington, Kansas, for one year, moving from Bison, Kansas.&nbsp; A 1998 graduate of Constantine High School, Constantine, Michigan, he was the Central Kansas Commercial Account Manager for Advance Auto Parts.

He was an active member of the Hays Soccer Club, Hays, Kansas, both as a player and a youth coach.&nbsp; He was a life member of the NRA, and loved to hunt.

On September 14, 2002, he married Ashley K. Henry at Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include:&nbsp; his wife, Ashley Slemp, Hoisington, Kansas; four sons, Dakota Slemp, Dillon Slemp, Dawson Slemp, and Deklan Slemp of the home; his father and step mother, Joseph “Joe” and Linda Slemp, La Crosse, Kansas; his mother, Sandra Hummel, Constantine, Michigan; his maternal grandmother, Mary McClain, Three Rivers, Michigan; one sister, Lacy Quake (Andrew), Three Rivers, Michigan; and one step brother, Ron Reed (April), La Crosse, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his step father, Lee Hummel; his paternal grandparents, James and Billie Slemp; and his maternal grandfather, Kenneth McClain.

The family will host a celebration of Jeremy’s life Friday, May 7, 2021, at 5:00 P.M. at 1006 2nd Street, Albert, Kansas.&nbsp; Guests are welcome and may bring a side dish or dessert if they so choose.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Hays Soccer Club, Hays, Kansas.

MARION -- A minor earthquake rattled part of Marion County Friday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, the 2.3 magnitude quake struck at 3:56 p.m. southeast of Marion. It was centered just west of Wagonwheel Road between 170th Street and 180th Street.
