Judge John Weckel passed away on Thursday,December 
29, 2022, at Salina Presbyterian Manor surrounded by his family. John 
will be remembered as a loving husband to Kathryn (Katie) Weckel, and a 
wonderful father to his daughters: Sarah Hays (Fred) and Stephanie 
Weckel (Betsy Marietta). He adored his two grandchildren: Ryan 
Hays(Stephanie Lee) of New York City and Nicholas Hays (Caycee) of 
Lincoln, Nebraska. He lived to enjoy his great grandsons: Harrison Hays 
and Lukas Hays of Lincoln, Nebraska.

John was born and raised in Salina, Kansas by Ruth and Clyde Weckel 
and was a lifelong Salina resident. As the oldest of eight, he was a 
devoted brother to his six sisters and brother, filling in at school 
events when his parents were unavailable and always remaining a 
steadfast source of advice for his siblings and their families.

He graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University where he was on the 
debate team, sang in the choir and was involved in numerous activities. 
He and Katie were married June 2, 1951 and celebrated 69 years of 
marriage before Katie’s death. He graduated from Washburn University 
School of Law and subsequently joined Rudolph Barta’s law practice in 
Salina on February 1, 1953. He became an Assistant Saline County 
Attorney under Raymond Haggard and subsequently served as Saline County 
Attorney for four years.&nbsp; He was a state district court judge for 20 
years from 1973-1993 and was one of the first senior judges appointed in
 Kansas under a new law designed to provide assistance to courts around 
the state.He worked as a senior judge throughout the state for 12 years,
 and in his second retirement volunteered his services as needed to the 
court in Salina.For more than 40 years, he was ably assisted in his law 
practice and during his judicial career by Joyce Wiese who became part 
of his extended family. In 2013, he was honored for having been a member
 of the Kansas Bar Association for 60 years. In his nearly 40 years as a
 judge, he performed hundreds of marriage ceremonies in the Salina area.

John was an Eagle Scout, served in the National Guard, was active in 
the Shriners and various other organizations including the Downtown 
Lions Club, the YMCA, the Salina Elks Lodge, the Boy Scouts and in the 
1960s served as President of the Salina Council of Churches. He was a 
member of the First Presbyterian Church of Salina. In addition to his 
civic activities and spending time with his family, he enjoyed spending 
time with friends. He and Katie were longtime members of several bridge 
clubs.&nbsp; Beginning in 1953, he and Keno Stephenson and others met for 
early morning coffee every weekday. This group continued meeting even in
 retirement. In talking about the coffee group, he noted that when the 
group first started meeting at Duckwalls a cup of coffee was 5 cents, 
but by the time the group was meeting at the local doughnut shop in the 
2000’s a cup cost $1.80.

In addition to his daughters and their families, he is survived by 
his sisters- Jackie Smith, Patty Robinson, and Faye Bright, 
sister-in-law Caroline Weckeland numerous nieces and nephews. He was 
preceded in death by his wife Katie, brother, Monty Weckel, sisters 
Margaret Pinter, Sally Balentine, and June Grinage, nephew Craig Smith 
and niece Barbara Balentine Knight.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who 
assisted in John’s care including the wonderful staff at Presbyterian 
Manor, Hospice of Salina, TLC, and Linda Phelps and Tony Pollock both of
 whom were attentive to John for many years.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the John and

Evelyn Louise Ford Livengood, 91, of Salina, stepped into heaven on February 21, 2023. She was born on January 27, 1932 on a farm near Oak Hill, Kansas to Lyman and Bessie Ford. 

Evelyn's early years were spent in central Kansas then the family moved to Kansas City when she was in fifth grade.

When Evelyn was about 12 years old, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Livengood. They started dating when she was 14 and were married on June 14, 1950, right after she graduated from high school. 

Kenneth served for two years in the Army and afterwards they settled in the Kansas City, Kansas area where they raised three children: Dale, Denise, and Deanna.&nbsp;

Evelyn worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education for several years. After an early retirement, Kenneth and Evelyn traveled to all 50 states, Mexico and both Western and Eastern Canada. 

Kenneth and Evelyn moved to Salina, Kansas in 2013 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage together before Kenneth passed away.

Evelyn passed into heaven on February 21, 2023. Waiting for her was her Lord and Savior, Jesus, her husband Kenneth, and their daughter Deanna, as well as Evelyn's parents and her brothers Merle and Clayton.

She is survived by her son Dale (Barbara) Livengood; daughter Denise (Gary) Stambaugh; her grandchildren Jeff Livengood, Brad (Elisa) Livengood, Rob (Sydney) Anaya, Samantha (Jonathan) Howell, Dionne Stratton, Laromy (Hailey) Stratton, Gina (Roger) Buswell, and Nick (Deniece) Stambaugh; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn VanWaters, and her brother Bernard Ford.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Light KC Church, 10001 W. 88th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.

Joseph Harvey Kejr, 64, of Brookville, Kan., passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in his home. He was born on February 16, 1959, in Salina, Kan., to Harry and Rosella (Balzer) Kejr. 

On May 24, 1986, he was joined in marriage with Geena Sanneman at First Covenant Church in Salina.

Joe actively lived out the Fruits of the Spirit in his journey of Christian faith. He was passionate about serving others and over the last several years, enjoyed spreading God’s love to the El Cuje community in Guatemala. 

He was a third generation farmer, taking over Kejr Farms from his father, which has since expanded in scale and scope and now includes members of the 4th and 5th generation of the family. Joe served on the board of At Stake Ministries from its inception, served on many church committees, was a member of the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers, National Wheat Foundation, and served in the Kansas State Legislature. 

In his spare time, he loved being around family, traveling, restoring vehicles, creating experiences for others, hosting agritourism groups from all over the world, supporting sports teams, and taking naps on Sunday afternoon.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Geena, of almost 37 years; children Robyn Bunch (Matt), of Boston, Mass., Josh Kejr (Brittany), of Salina, and Michelle Kejr, of Manhattan; grandchildren Cynthia and Gianna Kejr; siblings Steve Kejr (Carol), Bernice Omli, Larry Kejr (Susan), and Mel Kejr (Janet); brother-in-law Al Zink; mother-in-law Eloise Sanneman; sister-in-law Greta Frank (Jerry); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Rosalie Zink; brother-in-law John Omli; and father-in-law Warren Sanneman.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with the family present from 4-6. A graveside committal service will be at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 13, at the Brookville Cemetery, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at First Covenant Church in Salina.

Merlyn Eugene Larson, 79, rural Marquette, died Thursday, March 30, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. 

Born November 23, 1943, Merlyn was the youngest child of Erland H. Larson amd Marie I. (Durland) Larson. 

Merlie, as he was called during his school years, attended grade school at Number 8 schoolhouse, middle school at Eden Prairie, and high school at Marquette High School.&nbsp;

During his senior year, the 1960 MHS Wolverines football team finished the season undefeated, untied, and unscored on – a remarkable feat he and his teammates were proud of. Merlyn attended Bethany College, graduating in 1965 with a bachelor of arts. 

In July 1965, Merlyn attended United States Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, becoming a lieutenant (Junior Grade). After completing officer training school, Merlyn served on the USS Windham County (LST-1170) as a Supply Officer and was deployed to Vietnam from July 1966 – November 1968. For his service, Merlyn earned the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Merle met Sandra Kindle at a work Christmas party while they were both working in Kansas City. Merle and Sandra were married on November 10, 1973 at the First Baptist Church in Warsaw, MO. In 1974, they returned to rural Marquette to run the family dairy farm. Merle spent 30+ years milking cows, tending the herd, and growing crops.

Merle was the kind and loving father of Matthew and Kirsten Larson, and joyful grandfather of Magnus and Leif.

He was an active and devoted member of the Marquette American Legion Post #253. He had just been presented a service award for 55 years of continuous membership in the American Legion on March 14, 2023. At the time of his death, Merle was Vice Commander of Post 253. He was proud to share and serve alongside his Legionnaires. 

Merle served on the South Sharps Creek Township board for 40 years. He was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette his entire life.&nbsp;

In recent years, Merle could be found nearly every morning playing dominos with his buddies. It is unknown how much of Kirsten’s inheritance was blown at the domino parlor.

Survivors include his wife Sandy of their rural Marquette home; son Matthew Larson of Shawnee, KS; daughter Kirsten Larson of Overland Park, KS; sister Barbara Peterson of Roselle, IL;&nbsp;brother Dennis (Darlene) of Woonsocket, RI; two grandsons, Magnus &amp; Leif Larson of Shawnee, KS; many nieces &amp; nephews; and many friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 7 at Elim Lutheran Church, 403 N Lincoln St., Marquette, KS with Pastor Amy Kay Pavlovich officiating. Burial will follow at Marquette Lutheran Cemetery. Honor Guard provided by the Marquette American Legion.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 6 from 4 p.m. -6 p.m at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N.&nbsp;Washington, Lindsborg, KS.

John worked for the Minnesota Highway Department for a short time before becoming a carrier for the post office in Minnesota. He later was transferred to the Kansas City area where he was a carrier and later a custodian for the Monticello Branch, working for the postal service for 41 years. Barbara grew up in Beloit, Kansas, graduating from Beloit High School in 1982.&nbsp; She then attended Fort Hays State University, graduating in 1986.&nbsp; 

Barbara married Robert Agnew on March 21, 1992.&nbsp; 

She was a graphic designer for PETCO, Sweet Tomatoes and designed Pillow Pets for CJ Products.&nbsp; Barbara also did freelance graphic design and most recently rebranded the City of Clay Center and KCLY logos.&nbsp; She was a member of the Clay Center Country Club and Friends of the Clay Center Library. &nbsp;

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert Agnew of Clay Center, Kansas; daughters, Payton Agnew of Missoula, Montana and Madison Agnew of San Francisco, California; sisters, Joan and husband, Jerry Orr of Clay Center, Kansas and Donna Morrell of Beloit, Kansas and brother, Jim Walter of Beloit, Kansas.

Larry grew up in Concordia, Kansas and graduated from Concordia High School in 1967.

Larry married Carol Day on July 25, 1970, in Prairie Village, Kansas.&nbsp; After almost 53 years of sharing their lives together, Carol survives in the home.

Larry owned and operated cable television companies in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest, which he was passionate about. Larry was an avid cyclist and enjoyed riding the roads.&nbsp; In retirement Larry loved time with his grandchildren, watching the Chiefs, reading and spending time with his family.&nbsp;

Larry is also survived by his son Jason Trimble, Wichita; his grandchildren Natalie Trimble and Andrew Trimble,&nbsp; two sisters, Connie Boley, Concordia,&nbsp; and DeeAnn McDaniel , Topeka , and one brother Doug Trimble, Salina. He was preceded by his parents Keith and Deloris Trimble.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Gwyn Ellen Johnson died Saturday, April 1, 2023, in her home. She was born Gwyn Ellen Hendricks on January 26, 1941, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Gwendolyn Randall Hendricks and John Paul Hendricks. 

The oldest of five Hendricks children, she grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas and attended Catholic schooling, including Saint Scholastica, Immaculate Conception and Saint Anne’s Academy.

After graduating, she attended Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by Dental Hygiene school at the University of Kansas City Missouri. It was there that she met and married her husband, Michael Johnson, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage that was rooted in love, faith, family, and community.

Gwyn and Mike moved to Abilene, Kansas in 1962 where they worked together at Mike’s dental practice. 

From the moment Gwyn came to Abilene, she embraced everything it had to offer and began to establish community through friends and involvement at St. Andrews Church. 

She embraced the beauty of the Kansas prairie and inspired so many to do the same, leading hikes and tours, teaching others to appreciate Kansas native grasses and wildflowers. Later, she became an instrumental part of the Dickinson County Historical Society, the Arts Council of Dickinson County and a founding member of the Great Plains Theater, and founding member of the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. In March of 2023, she received the Women of Excellence award for her passion and dedication to her community.

Gwyn is survived by son Tim (Jennifer), daughters Katy, Betsy (Hardy) and Emily (Jason), as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and her sister Betsy Walters. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Michael Johnson, brother Randall Hendricks, son Robert (Bob) Johnson, grandson Ellis Johnson, sisters MaryLynn Lawler, Sally Marovich, as well as brother Tim Hendricks.

Parish Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 10th, 2023 at St. Andrews Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Tony William Gonner, 56, passed away on March 27, 2023 at Johnstown Towers in Salina, Kansas.

Tony was born on March 31, 1966 in Anchorage, Alaska to parents Robert L and Norma M (Reynolds) Gonner.

Tony graduated from Decatur High School in Seattle, Washington and Bates Trade School, where he earned his Certified Auto Mechanic and Certified Diesel Mechanic. Tony put his education to use by being both a local hauler and an over-the-road trucker. He worked this trade for over 10 years combined between the Quarry and CB Trucking of Lincoln, Bohn Farm of Salina, Fast Eddie’s Express of Downs, and many others.

During these years, Tony also had five children, four of whom still reside in Washington. They are Christine M., Kathryn M., Tony W., and Brian R. all with Leisa Gonner. Later Tony was married to Kristie Gonner and they welcomed Zachary D. Gonner in 2001. Although the union didn’t last, the friendship did. Kristie preceded Tony in death in 2021.

In his spare time Tony enjoyed smoking meats and BBQing, winning first prize with his pork spare ribs at the 2014 second Annual BBQ Cookout in Lincoln, KS. He also felt at home outdoors camping and was an avid fisherman. He was, of course, the family mechanic and handyman. There was almost nothing he couldn’t fix. Tony loved working with his hands, working on cars, collecting cars, and most recently, getting reacquainted with his son, Zach.

Tony will be deeply missed by family, friends, and those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held on April 7, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Church, 1325 E. Cloud Salina, KS 67401 with Pastor Alan Webb officiating.

In her earlier years,&nbsp;Karen worked as a waitress at the Big Key, Busy Bee, and Woolworth; she also was a stay-at-home mom for over 13 years.&nbsp; Karen worked at Wyatt’s Cafeteria, K-State of Salina and Senior companion care with individual ladies.

Karen was part of the Hedville ladies club, FCE group for 14 years, EHU club for 10 years, senior center, card playing group and so much more.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Delores Augustine and son,&nbsp;Donnie Allison.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Allison of Salina; four daughters, Ali (Hollis) Wagner of Wichita, Ami Allison of Salina, Angie Allison of Salina, and&nbsp;April Allison of Texas;&nbsp; son,&nbsp;Darren Allison of Park City; 10 grandchildren, Mia, Rakeen, Haley, Casey, Alyssia, Aliyah, Arianna, Johnathan, Darren and Tishanti; two great-grandchildren, Keanu and Isaac; two brothers, Steve (Betty) Augustine of Hesston and Danny Jo (Dana) Augustine of Overland Park; and three sisters, Janet Augustine of Goodland, Carolyn Augustine and Marilyn Augustine both of Salina.

The Memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Sacred Hearth Cathedral, Salina, with the Rev. Fred Gatschet officiating. The rosary will be recited at 11:10 a.m.

 In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an honor fund in Karen Allison’s memory for donations towards FCE (Family and Community Education). Corina Jane (McCullough) Winslow, 80 years old, of Salina, Kan., passed peacefully on April 5, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1943, in Lindsborg, Kan., to Robert and Nora McCullough. 

She graduated from Salina High School in 1961 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University. 

Corina met the love of her life, Gary, and they married on August 22, 1970. They had one child, Catherine Ellen.

Corina was the postmaster at the New Cambria Post Office for 31 years. Early in her career she worked at the Salina Public Library and Sears. 

Corina loved to visit with people, knit, read romance novels and attend concerts. Her hobbies also included collecting stamps, antique crocks and cookbooks. She was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge and United Postmasters and Managers of America. Corina enjoyed being an active member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry and making hand knitted shawls to bless the community. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Corina was preceded in death by her husband Gary Winslow; son-in-law Arthur Lott; sister-in-law Linda McCullough; and her parents. 

Survivors include her daughte, Cathy Lott; granddaughter, Chelsea Lott and Bariah Lott; grandso, Arthur Lott IV; siste, Mary Schneider (Bob); brothe, Keith McCullough; brother-in-la, Steve Winslow (Maggie); and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Corina was very loved and will be missed by many.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, followed by a luncheon. A rosary will be recited prior to the service at 9:30. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Salina.

Mary Patricia (Bushey) Johannes, 84, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.

Pat, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on December 15, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Henry P. and Pauline J. (Burlie) Bushey.

Pat grew up in St. Marys, KS where she attended grade school and high school.&nbsp; 

She met her future husband, John Raymond Johannes, while she was attending Marymount College in Salina.&nbsp;Pat and John were joined in marriage at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, KS, on June 7, 1958.

They had their family in Salina, KS, and were transferred to Delphos, Lyons, Hutchinson, Abilene, and Manhattan during John’s career with KP&amp;L.

Pat earned her bachelor’s degree in art from Marymount College.&nbsp; 

She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. Her devotion to her faith was matched only by her devotion to her family. Pat loved her family more than anything and always enjoyed when they got together, especially at Christmas. She and her husband, John, also enjoyed fishing and hunting together.

Holding her in loving memory are her children, Sherry McKee (Westin), Salina, Tracey Evans (Link), The Woodlands, TX, Greg Johannes (Jennifer), Onaga, and Cristy Donnelly (Thad), Wamego; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (plus one more on the way); and sister Jane Ernst, (Wayne), Boise, Idaho. 

Mary Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of nearly 64 years, John, on March 21, 2022. She will be deeply missed and always loved.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Salina.&nbsp; A rosary service will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Kevin Weber officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.

Her family is deeply grateful for the care she received from the staff at the Wroten House at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Center.

Phillipsburg resident Lois Ann Haas passed away Tuesday, April 4, 
2023, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas.&nbsp; Lois was
 born on August 7, 1954, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, to Milo and Norma 
(Stevens) Gitchel.&nbsp; Her parents farmed north of Phillipsburg. &nbsp;

Lois went to a country one-room schoolhouse, Labelle during grade 
school and then junior high and high school in Phillipsburg, KS.&nbsp; After 
high school Lois worked at a grocery store in Alma, NE for a year and 
then she began to pursue a career in nursing.&nbsp;

In 1975, she was united in marriage to Larry Meltzer at Englewood 
Wesleyan Church in northern Phillips Co.&nbsp; In 1976, Monica Ann was born.&nbsp; 
They were married four years, after that Lois and Monica lived in a 
rental of sister, Kathy and Dennis’s in Dodge City.&nbsp; Lois completed her 
schooling and became a registered nurse.&nbsp; In 1981, Lois and Bert Shores 
were united in marriage and a daughter, Eula Beth was born in 1985.&nbsp; In 
1992, they were divorced. &nbsp;

Larry Haas and Lois have been together for 31 happy years.&nbsp; They 
enjoyed each other's company greatly and were happiest together.&nbsp; Lois 
retired from nursing five years ago.&nbsp; Since she retired she has enjoyed 
gardening, canning, and processing deer or beef.&nbsp; Lois was a very giving
 person and always thinking of others.&nbsp; She was always sharing her 
garden produce, eggs or meat she harvested with others who might enjoy 
it or were going through a hard time. &nbsp;

Lois is preceded in death by her parents Milo and Norma, brothers 
Allan and Elbert Gitchel, sister Kathy Willis and a granddaughter Elle 
Runnion.

Survivors include her husband Larry Haas of Phillipsburg, daughters 
Eula Runnion and husband Brian of Wichita, Kansas, and Monica Wagner and
 husband Wade of Smith Center, Kansas, five grandchildren whom she 
adored, Ken and Kaley Wagner and Harper, Owen and Jaxson Runnion.&nbsp; Other
 survivors include her brother Delbert Gitchel of Wilcox, Nebraska, 
sister Eileen Branstetter of Salina, Kansas, brother-in-law Dennis 
Willis of Smith Center, many nieces and nephews and her faithful dog 
Missy.

A funeral service for Lois will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, 
10:30 a.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, with 
Pastor Bud Gillett and Pastor Jay Brandon officiating.

Lois will lie in-state on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a&nbsp; visitation on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg.

Following the funeral service, a committal service will be held at the Marvin Cemetery in Glade, Kansas.

Lois Ann Haas

Nancy Ann Layton, age 81, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully 
at her home in McPherson, Kansas at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023. 
 Mrs. Layton was born Nancy Ann Modlin on October 18, 1941, in Beloit, 
Kansas. She was the only child of George Henry and Grace Oliver (Alcorn)
 Modlin. Nancy grew up in Randall, Kansas, where she went to 
school through the 6th grade. Her father’s employment took the family to
 Wichita, Kansas, for one year and Jamestown, Kansas, for one year where 
Nancy attended schools until the family returned to Randall in 1955. She
 graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1959. After 
attending Fort Hays State College for one year, Nancy enrolled at 
Personnel Training Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating, she 
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed by United Airlines. 
 She was engaged to Dennis Layton in 1960 and they were married in 
Lynwood, California, on May 7, 1961. They would live in Whittier, Covina 
and eventually Glendora, California, where they made their home and 
raised their family. Nancy resumed her working career outside 
the home in 1972 with Foothill Medical Laboratory and then Dr. Jack 
Bostwick, both in Glendora, CA, until 1979. She then had the opportunity
 for employment with the CPA firm of Campbell, Graves and Associates 
Inc., also in Glendora, where she worked until 1992. Nancy ended her 
working career with the firm of Gill &amp; Knowles Accountancy Corp. in 
Upland, CA, where she was office manager, retiring in 1994. 
After retirement, she and her husband Dennis returned to Kansas and 
lived in Concordia until 2002 before moving to Hillsboro, Kansas. Then 
in 2006 they moved to McPherson, where Nancy called home until her 
death. Nancy was baptized into the Methodist faith as an 
infant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
McPherson. She was a former member of SASNAK Study Club, Concordia, KS. 
She was initiated into Concordia P.E.O. Chapter EV in December 1999. She
 demitted to Chapter DB in Marion, KS in September 2001. Upon her move

McPherson Hospital Volunteer Services for many years and truly enjoyed 
giving of her time to help others. She was also a former member of the 
Ladies Auxiliary if the Alhambra Fire Department, Alhambra, CA. 
 Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great 
grandmother and a dear friend to many. Nancy made friends easily. Her 
smile and her quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 
She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. And she 
was especially proud of her grandchildren and what they have 
accomplished in their young lives. Nancy loved all kinds of 
music, especially rock and roll in her younger days. She liked classical
 music and even grudgingly learned to like country western in her later 
years. She was an avid reader and she loved to work in her flower 
garden. She also loved to walk and would do so daily until she was no 
longer able to due to her health. She loved to travel and see new 
places. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Stacey Lynne Cordell and a grandson Russell Gregory Layton. 
 Nancy is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Dennis of McPherson,
 Kansas; her son, Greg and wife Loretta of Glendora, CA; four 
grandchildren, Kyle Layton of Concord, CA, Luke Layton and wife Taylor 
of Glendora, CA, Tyler Cordell and wife Caitlyn of Manhattan, KS and 
Kailey Cordell of Kansas City, MO; two great grandchildren, Isla 
Cordell, Manhattan, KS and Amelia Layton, Glendora, CA. 
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at 
Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, KS. Funeral will be 10:30 
a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in 
McPherson with Reverend Emily Spearman Cannon officiating. Burial will 
follow at McPherson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials

 </figure>Nancy Ann Layton, age 81, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully 
at her home in McPherson, Kansas at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023. 
 Mrs. Layton was born Nancy Ann Modlin on October 18, 1941, in Beloit, 
Kansas. She was the only child of George Henry and Grace Oliver (Alcorn)
 Modlin. Nancy grew up in Randall, Kansas, where she went to 
school through the 6th grade. Her father’s employment took the family to
 Wichita, Kansas, for one year and Jamestown, Kansas, for one year where 
Nancy attended schools until the family returned to Randall in 1955. She
 graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1959. After 
attending Fort Hays State College for one year, Nancy enrolled at 
Personnel Training Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating, she 
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed by United Airlines. 
 She was engaged to Dennis Layton in 1960 and they were married in 
Lynwood, California, on May 7, 1961. They would live in Whittier, Covina 
and eventually Glendora, California, where they made their home and 
raised their family. Nancy resumed her working career outside 
the home in 1972 with Foothill Medical Laboratory and then Dr. Jack 
Bostwick, both in Glendora, CA, until 1979. She then had the opportunity
 for employment with the CPA firm of Campbell, Graves and Associates 
Inc., also in Glendora, where she worked until 1992. Nancy ended her 
working career with the firm of Gill &amp; Knowles Accountancy Corp. in 
Upland, CA, where she was office manager, retiring in 1994. 
After retirement, she and her husband Dennis returned to Kansas and 
lived in Concordia until 2002 before moving to Hillsboro, Kansas. Then 
in 2006 they moved to McPherson, where Nancy called home until her 
death. Nancy was baptized into the Methodist faith as an 
infant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
McPherson. She was a former member of SASNAK Study Club, Concordia, KS. 
She was initiated into Concordia P.E.O. Chapter EV in December 1999. She
 demitted to Chapter DB in Marion, KS in September 2001. Upon her move 
to McPherson, she demitted to Chapter AY in 2007. Nancy was a member of

Terrance “Terry” J. Henderson, 79, of Salina, KS, passed away on April 1, 2023. He will be dearly missed.

Terry was born to Earl and Bessie Henderson on February 18th, 1944 in Belleville, KS. 

He met and married Shirley J. Allen, and they were wed on June 6th, 1961. They were together until her passing at the early age of 45. He later met and married Kathleen Wallace on December 28th, 1990.

Terry had many trades, with his latest being a hostler at Transervice, before finally being able to enjoy retirement. He loved fishing, camping and working with his hands. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Teraysa Rives (Mark Bronaugh) of Bronaugh, MO, and Trina (William) Sunderlin of Salina, KS, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl Henderson and Bessie (Arthur) Henderson; his first wife, Shirley (Allen), and second wife, Kathleen (Wallace); his brother, Arthur Henderson; six sisters, Dorothy Watson, June Kasper, Shirley Simmons, Betty Brown, Claudia Yonkey, Peggy Crawford; and his best canine companion, Cody.

Services will be held at Ryan Mortuary,&nbsp;137 N. 8th St, Salina, KS,&nbsp;on April 15th at 2 p.m. He chose to be cremated.

Eloise, Ellie, (Johnson) Larson, 89, passed peacefully from this life on April 5th&nbsp;at Credo Senior Living Center in Belleville, Ks.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born on December 16, 1933, to William H. and Hazel (Mansfield) Johnson in Cloud County Kansas.&nbsp;

She graduated from Concordia High School in 1951.&nbsp; 

She trained as a nursing assistant and worked at the medical clinic of Drs. Doubek, Chaney and Holt for over 30 years.&nbsp; She was always very passionate about the care she gave her patients.

On October 18, 1952 Eloise married Verl S. Larson in Salina, Kansas. They had one daughter, Jean Ann. Verl and Eloise were married 63 years before Verl’s death in 2015. They also hosted several exchange students, including Edelmiro Trevino, from Monterrey Mexico. 

She spent all of her adult life living in Belleville and she was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

Eloise will be forever remembered by her daughter, Jean Ann Larson and her husband Robert Jaramillo of Birmingham, Alabama, granddaughters Danielle Hoin (Andrew) of Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Natalie Larson-Jaramillo of Torrevieja, Spain.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church of Belleville. Visitation will be from noon until service time also at the church. Burial will be in the Belleville City Cemetery.
