Esther Margreta Louise Groneman

Esther Margreta Louise Groneman was born December 18, 1913 in Lincolnville, Kansas, the daughter of Emil Krause and Augusta Schlesener Krause. She passed away at the age of 110 on February 29, 2024. She was baptized into the Christian faith on January 25, 1914 and confirmed on April 29, 1928 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville.
She attended Bethel School, 76 Grade School and St. John’s Lutheran School through grade 8.
She married Arthur August Henry Groneman on June 11, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. She lived on their farm east of Lincolnville all of her life helping her husband with milking cows, combining wheat and picking corn by hand. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing, and taking care of their fruit trees. She had numerous flower beds and enjoyed growing irises, poppies, and flowers of all kinds.
Esther is survived by four children, Lois Ann Groneman, Lincolnville, Vida Mae Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS, Arthur Wayne Groneman (Kandi), and Nancy Nelson (Steve), Lincolnville, KS as well as six grandchildren: Marie Gianakon, Hutchinson; Susan Dougan (David), Stillwell, KS; Tom Gianakon, Santa Fe, NM; DeAnne Atkinson (Jeff), Palestine, TX; Karen Bassett, Midlothian, VA; and Mark Gianakon, Hutchinson, KS; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Rick and Dawn Kohman and eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, who died on May 2, 1989 and her parents as well as three brothers, Martin, William, and Paul Krause, six sisters, Bertha Otte, Otillie Albrecht, Marie Beneke, Lena Albrecht, Martha Brockmeier, and Augusta Ollenberger.
A funeral service for Esther will be held on Monday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, Kansas. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
