Larry Lee Barnes, 71, of Ottawa, KS died Monday, March 4, 2024 at Rock Creek Memory Care in Ottawa, Kansas.
He was born November 10, 1952 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Donald and Betty Barnes. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1970.
On February 8, 1992, Larry was united in marriage to Anne Province in Ottawa, Kansas.
While in high school, Larry began work as a carpet layer for Nitcher’s Flooring which later became Crook’s Flooring. He then worked at Duke Manufacturing for 19 years. For the last 25 years before retirement, he worked at Kalmar on the yard truck assembly line.
Larry enjoyed square dancing, and was a part of the Ottawa Promenaders. He also loved hunting, bowling, yard work, and painting the house. Most of all, he loved being a dad and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Barnes of Ottawa, KS; a daughter, Amy Alfrey and her husband, John, of Junction City, KS; his mother, Betty Barnes of Ottawa, KS; a sister, Linda Ferris and her husband, Jim, of Ottawa, KS; 2 grandchildren, Tristan and Grayson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at Grace Community Fellowship Church, Ottawa, KS. To celebrate Larry’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
