Robert E. Johnson, 82, of Baldwin City, KS passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.  He was born December 16, 1941 in Baldwin City, KS the son of Earl Johnson and Margaret (Schmidt) Johnson.  He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, KS with the Class of 1959. 

After graduating from High School, Robert began farming with his Father.  He also worked for Willow Springs Township, where he mowed the roadsides.  He became a motorcycle mechanic and was a Heavy Equipment Operator for R.D. Johnson Construction and Excavating Company of Lawrence, KS. 

Robert was united in marriage to Sandra Gensler on March 30, 1969 in Baldwin City, KS.  They shared over fifty-four years of marriage.

Robert enjoyed racing motorcycles and midget cars; hunting and fishing; farming; tractor pulling and restoring cars.  He will be remembered as a great, big-hearted, and very caring man who would help anyone or fix anything for anyone. He was a hero and best friend to Sandra and will be loved forever.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Johnson.

Surviving family includes his wife, Sandra Johnson of Baldwin City, KS; a sister, Karen Young of Vinland, KS; a niece, Laura Young; a nephew, Ron Young; and five great nieces and nephews.
