Dale F. Correll

Dale F. Correll, 87, of Abilene passed away February 28, 2024. He was born September 22, 1936 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Frank and Alice (McCosh) Correll. He grew up in Detroit, Kansas and graduated from Chapman High School in 1954 and graduated from Kansas State University with a major in Business Administration. On June 9, 1955 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Lehman at the Carlton Presbyterian Church and celebrated 68 years of marriage together, making their home North of Abilene in the Buckeye community. Dale farmed and ranched in his earlier days. He worked as a brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad in Herington for several years. He was sales manager and vice-president at Wyatt Manufacturing, Salina, Kansas. He was president of Mutual Aid Association of the Church of the Brethren for many years. He finished his insurance career as owner of his own national insurance company. He was named chairman of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) and served the organization for many years. Dale was a lifelong member of the Buckeye Church of the Brethren. He also served as a board member of Symphony in the Flint Hills. Dale held many titles throughout his life but he was most proud of being a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor, of the home. Children: Sally Nelson; Cindy Krehbiel (John); Debbie Tasker (Russell) and Cheryl Zumbrunn (Dennis). Grandchildren: Drew Burkholder (Athena); Kari Rook (Jarred); Will Krehbiel; Robb Krehbiel; JJ Krehbiel; Matthew Sidener (Brooke); Mark Sidener (Tori) and Alicia Kingsley (Chris). Five great-grandchildren and two siblings, Nadine Lauer and Marilyn Helmer (Martin). He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Kristin Burkholder and Joel Zumbrunn and one sister, Doris Moore. The family has chosen cremation. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7PM at Danner Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at the Buckeye Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas, 67410.
