Deirdre Ann (Langan) Alden June 12, 1962 ~ April 30, 2024

Deirdre Ann Alden (nee Langan) passed away on April 30, 2024 in Salina, KS, with her daughter Aislinn at her bedside, after a hard-fought one-year struggle with cancer.

Born to Sean and Una Langan on June 12, 1962 in San Francisco, CA, Deirdre attended St. Cecilia’s elementary and St. Rose Academy high schools in the City.&nbsp; She received her nursing certificate after attending the University of San Francisco and California State University East Bay.

Deirdre moved to Kansas to help Aislinn with Deirdre’s new grandchild Halle, while Aislinn herself studied nursing and interned at the local hospital.&nbsp; After Aislinn received her nursing degree, it was Aislinn who helped care for Deirdre as she suffered through the disease and its treatments.

Predeceased by her father Sean, Deirdre is survived by her daughter Aislinn (Alex), her sons Bruce and Hugh, her mother Una Langan, her brother John (Shawn Michelle), and her two wonderful grandchildren, Halle and Lailah.

A mass to celebrate Deirdre’s life will be held on May 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Church, located at 17th Avenue and Vicente Streets in San Francisco, CA.&nbsp; Following the service, Deirdre will be laid to rest with her father Sean at Holy Cross cemetery in Colma, CA.

Deirdre will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend.&nbsp; Her lively and loving spirit will continue to inspire and comfort all of us fortunate enough to know her.

Randi Jean Gifford, 60, of Lindsborg, died April 13, 2024 at her residence. She had lived in the Lindsborg area most of her life and was a registered nurse.

She was born July 7, 1963 in Lindsborg, the daughter of Everett W. and Anna L. (Pauls) Johnson. She graduated from Lindsborg High School and Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her sister, Jane A. (Greg) Yount of Bakersfield, Missouri and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.

Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will take place in the Christian Ridge Cemetery in rural Lindsborg at a later date.

Memorials have been established with the KJIL radio station or the Kansas Bible Camp, in care of Olson's Mortuary, Canton.

Dennis Dean Carlson July 7, 1955 ~&nbsp;April 30, 2024

Dennis Dean Carlson, 68, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Dennis was born on July 7, 1955, in McPherson, KS, the son of Robert Dean and Betty Jean (Becker) Carlson.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1973 and continued his education studying Electrical Engineering at Hutchinson Community College and Mechanical Engineering at Kansas State University.&nbsp; He studied Business and received a Bachelor Degree at Central Christian College of Kansas. On August 12, 1995, Dennis was united in marriage to Sherill Anne (James) Newberry at the First Baptist Church in McPherson.

While working at CertainTeed, he was awarded 11 U.S. patents. Dennis was a former Engineering Manager at Eaton Corporation and Maintenance Manager/Superintendent at Westlake Corporation. He retired from Stryten in Salina as Maintenance Manager. Dennis was also a part owner of a plastic extrusion company in Lamar, MO.

He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church and member of Band of Brothers and Huddle 4 Men. He was a prior member of the Lions Club. Dennis also served on the advisory board of the Salina Area Technical School.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sherill of the home; children, Robert Newberry and Brenda Newberry, both of McPherson, KS, Kelly Carlson-Nicola (Chris) of Coyville, KS, Melissa Newberry of Leavenworth, KS, and Tara Flores (Israel) of Sugar Land, TX; a sister, Diane Rhea (Terry) of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren, Audrey Miller, Sarah Newberry, Brian Patrick, Layne Patrick, Cole Carlson, Madison Stroud, Aiden Allen, Mason Flores, and Liam Flores; one great-grandchild; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steven Carlson; daughter, Amy Carlson; and grandson, Caleb Newberry.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, May 6, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 7, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Pattison and Rev. Melissa Newberry officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Carl Leon Smith, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died Monday, April 22, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO.

He was born August 14, 1944 in Lavern, Oklahoma the son of Leonard and Blanche (Luinstra) Smith.&nbsp; After graduating from Medicine Lodge High School, Carl earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. in computer and electrical engineering from Rice University.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Blanche Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Smith; his son, Brian Smith and his wife, Juli, of Colorado Springs, CO; and some cousins.

Arnelda Irene Buras Kepka, of Dorrance, KS, passed away on April 28, 2024, at the Wilson Care &amp; Rehab, at the age of 96. She was born on July 17, 1927, to Walter and Florence (Glazik) Buras in Omaha, NE. Arnelda married Raymond Anton Kepka on August 22, 1953, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Omaha. They were blessed with 7 children: Pamela, Debra, Henry, Michael, Ray Jr., John, and Paulla.

Arnelda grew up in Omaha and graduated from South Omaha High School in 1945. Her last year of high school she also worked at Boys Town personalizing letters. She was a secretary for the Board of Education at Joslyn Castle for three years and was a secretary/payroll supervisor for Tumpane for five years. She then left the big city and all her family and friends to move to a small farm in the middle of Kansas where she raised her family with great joy, never complaining about having to leave Omaha.

Arnelda was a woman of deep love and devotion, and her faith in God was not only a constant source of strength for herself, but also for her family and friends. She was such a caring person who always thought more about others than herself. Her pride and joy were her children and she watched over them like a mother hen watching over her chicks. Arnelda spent much of her time in the kitchen cooking and baking cookies for her family. She also spent a lot of time patching clothing and writing letters to her numerous extended family members, never missing a birthday acknowledgement for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Arnelda will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but the celebration of her life and memories will never be forgotten.

Arnelda is survived by her husband of 70 years, Raymond; children, Debra Weber (David) of Holyrood, KS, Henry Kepka (Ruth) of Dorrance, KS, Michael Kepka (Linda) of Dorrance, Ray Kepka Jr. of Dorrance, John Kepka (Sandra) of Owasso, OK, and Paulla Harris (Jerold) of Hays, KS; sister, Lorraine McCrea of Omaha; 14 grandchildren, Carry Suchy (Jamie) Tonganoxie, KS, Corry Kepka (Amber) Topeka, KS, Carmen O’Neal (Jeff) Farley, MO, Cayla Robison (Dustin) Clafin, KS, Cole Kepka (Rikki) Wilson, KS, Paul Weber (Shelle) Holyrood, KS, Matt Weber (Kristen) Lyons, KS, Jordon Kepka (Nicole) Edmond, OK, Kristen Morris (Keith) Yukon, OK, Marc Kepka Owasso, OK, Valerie Ihrig (Darrick) Goodland, KS, Michelle Loffredo (Jake) Lenexa, KS, Patrick Kepka Dorrance, KS, Jason Kepka (Julie) Hays, KS; and 34 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Visitation will be Friday 6-8PM with a Vigil Service at 7PM at the church and Saturday 9-10AM..

Vickie Joann (Proett) Weaver November 7, 1952 ~ April 27, 2024

Vickie Joann (Proett) Weaver, 71, of Vinland, KS died Saturday, April 27, 2024 in her home.

Vickie was born November 7, 1952 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the oldest of nine children and served as a nurse during a career covering four decades.&nbsp; Family and helping others were her top priorities.&nbsp; She married Rick Weaver in 1983 and arrived in Baldwin in 1985.&nbsp; She worked at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha and the Wayne (Nebraska) Hospital prior to coming to Baldwin.&nbsp; In Baldwin she worked at the Jones Clinic and Baldwin Family Practice until retirement.&nbsp; Vickie was an avid supporter of community and school activities.&nbsp; She was a frequent volunteer in Baldwin functions ranging from local fundraisers to making hundreds of masks for the covid pandemic.&nbsp; Sewing and knitting things for her nieces, nephews, and a long list of relatives was a favorite hobby… so was following the Nebraska Cornhuskers.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joann and Maurice Proett.&nbsp; Survivors include husband Rick Weaver (Baldwin), daughter Becky Weaver (Baldwin), son Luke Weaver (Berryton, KS), stepson Jake Weaver (Omaha, NE), sisters Jeanne Gardner (Wayzata, MN), Nancy Stoltenberg (Lincoln, NE), Mary Kroupa (Omaha, NE), Susan Bowers (Norfolk, NE), Kris Wilkowske (Edina, MN) and brothers Daniel Proett (Roanoke Rapids, NC), Darren Proett (Fremont, NE), and Doug Proett (Hutchinson, KS).

 </figure>Vickie Joann (Proett) Weaver November 7, 1952 ~ April 27, 2024Vickie Joann (Proett) Weaver, 71, of Vinland, KS died Saturday, April 27, 2024 in her home.Vickie was born November 7, 1952 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the oldest of nine children and served as a nurse during a career covering four decades.&nbsp; Family and helping others were her top priorities.&nbsp; She married Rick Weaver in 1983 and arrived in Baldwin in 1985.&nbsp; She worked at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha and the Wayne (Nebraska) Hospital prior to coming to Baldwin.&nbsp; In Baldwin she worked at the Jones Clinic and Baldwin Family Practice until retirement.&nbsp; Vickie was an avid supporter of community and school activities.&nbsp; She was a frequent volunteer in Baldwin functions ranging from local fundraisers to making hundreds of masks for the covid pandemic.&nbsp; Sewing and knitting things for her nieces, nephews, and a long list of relatives was a favorite hobby… so was following the Nebraska Cornhuskers.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joann and Maurice Proett.&nbsp; Survivors include husband Rick Weaver (Baldwin), daughter Becky Weaver (Baldwin), son Luke Weaver (Berryton, KS), stepson Jake Weaver (Omaha, NE), sisters Jeanne Gardner (Wayzata, MN), Nancy Stoltenberg (Lincoln, NE), Mary Kroupa (Omaha, NE), Susan Bowers (Norfolk, NE), Kris Wilkowske (Edina, MN) and brothers Daniel Proett (Roanoke Rapids, NC), Darren Proett (Fremont, NE), and Doug Proett (Hutchinson, KS).Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City, KS.&nbsp; To celebrate Vickie’s life, a visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Lumberyard Arts Center, 718 High St, Baldwin City, KS 66006.&nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made to the Lumberyard Arts Center and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Billy Dean Burton, Sr., 76, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home in Beverly, KS. He was born October 24, 1947 in Wichita, KS to James and Vetra (Housworth) Burton. Billy married Janet Davis in Wichita, KS. They were married for over 50 years.

Billy is survived by his wife, Janet Burton of Beverly; daughter Stephanie Burton (Kyle) of Beverly; son Andrew Burton of Minnesota; daughters, Mary, Christie, and Brenda; and grandchildren, Damian and Lucas Coffman, Kyala Newbanks (Matt), Katana Burton, and Faith and Grace Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Billy Dean Burton, Jr. and Buddy Burton; and brothers, Harold E. Burton and Kenneth Burton.

Cremation has taken place and no public services are scheduled at this time.

Nicole Lea Veal, 45, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at her home in Lincoln, KS. She was born July 5, 1978 in Salina, KS to Richard Fern, Jr. and Kay (Harshberger) Fern. Nicole married Charles Veal in Salina on April 19, 2002. She worked for many years as a CNA in elderly care homes.

Nicole is survived by her children, Charles Cody and Braxton Annette Veal both of Lincoln; mother Kay Chapin (Rick) of Lincoln; brother Cody Fern (Amber) and their children, Carter, Cameron, and Bradee of Lincoln; sisters, Kelsey Dodd (Seth) of Topeka, KS and Christina Daniels of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Gloria Davis (Joseph) of Killeen, TX; brother-in-law, James Veal of Arizona; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and step-sisters. Douglas Duane Londene October 1, 1952 ~ April 24, 2024

Douglas (Doug) Duane Londene, at the age of 71 of Chapman, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 due to a tragic farm accident.

Doug was born October 1st, 1952 to Duane and Lola (Carpenter) Londene of Chapman, Kansas.

He attended Woodbine grade school and graduated from Chapman High School in 1970.

In his younger years, Doug enjoyed playing baseball and was a 4-H member of the Woodbine Jolly Jayhawkers.

His career was working for BNSF railroad for 36 years achieving the job as Road Master. He retired in 2014 and dedicated his days to full-time farming until his death.

Doug will be remembered for many things but, especially his laughter, his tight bear hugs and the joy of conversation.

Survivors include his wife, Birgitte, two daughters, Amy (Kevin) Wade, Angela Londene, one son, Ryan (Danielle) Londene and one step-son Michael Mager. Other survivors include one sister, Diane Londene, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and two step grandchildren,two nieces, two nephews, one great niece and three great nephews, two great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cindy Jo Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 on Thursday, May 9th at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel,206 West 5th,Chapman,Kansas. Burma I. (Schlesener) Hanschu died on April 28, 2024, at her home in Herington, Kansas. She was born at home on the farm, north of Hope, Kansas on May 26, 1925. Burma attended Maple Grove School through 8th&nbsp;grade. When her brother Marvin died, she left school to help on the family farm. Burma later attended Hope School, and again had to leave to be a caregiver. She met Wilbur Hanschu while working in Ramona, Kansas. They married on April 23, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Shadybrook, where she was baptized. Wilber and Burma lived on a farm near Ramona, where she assumed the duties of a farm wife. She managed the milking and meals and also found time to make wedding cakes for brides in the area. Burma played the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington. She also raised Pomeranian dogs. She and Wilber raised three sons. Following their retirement, Wilbur and Burma moved to Herington. When Wilber died in April of 1993, Burma began working at Herington Hospital in the Dietary department. She had moved to Wichita but came back to Herington in her later years. Burma was preceded in death by her parents August and Martha Schlesener, husband, sons Ronnie and Rory and grandson James Weber, her brother Marvin Schlesener and sister Lila Steele. &nbsp;She is survived by her son Rick (Barb) Hanschu, daughter in law Lisa, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren: her sisters Doris Sly, Joyce Loe, Phyllis Perry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Brigitte’s life began on August 26, 1946, in Coburg, Germany. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Truckenbrodt) Kieser. She was united in marriage to Max Wendell on December 27, 1993, at the Hope United Methodist Church. Brigitte was the owner of the Woodbine Café for over 30 years. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing her food with the surrounding community. Brigitte loved her Café and cooking for the surrounding area. When she was able to get away, she enjoyed her cabin at Herington Lake and tending to her large garden. She had been a member of the New Basel Church in rural Abilene. Brigitte is survived by her two sons Thomas Fechter of Herington and Marcus Fechter of Austin, TX: granddaughter Julia Fechter of Nuremburg, German and sister Ursel (Friedrich) Loh of Benzen, Germany. Brigitte passed away at her home on Saturday April 27, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brother Harald and Rainer Kieser. Her family will gather with friends on Saturday May 4, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Henry Harvey (Hank) Berg was born in Marion, Kansas on January 21, 1949 to Harold and Dorothy (Smith) Berg. &nbsp;He passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Halstead Health and Rehab. He had been ill for several months. &nbsp;

Henry attended school in Newton, Kansas. &nbsp;He mowed lawns for several years, and then held several custodial positions in Newton, before retiring. &nbsp;He moved to Halstead in 2015 and resided there until his passing. &nbsp;

If you knew Henry, then you knew that his favorite activities were watching car races and fishing. &nbsp;

Henry is survived by his brother, David, of Salina, Kansas; his sister, Sherry Axsom, of Huntersville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Dorothy Berg; his sisters Carol Berg and Laura LeForce, and his nephews Eric Wyant and Dustin LeForce.

A graveside service will be held for Henry on Friday, May 3rd, at Marion Cemetery in Marion, Kansas at 1:30 p.m.

Patricia Ruth Marshall December 3, 1930 ~ April 29, 2024

Patricia Ruth Marshall, 93, Salina, passed Monday, April 29, 2024. She was born December 3, 1930, in Salina Kansas to James T. Marshall and Ruth E. (Shaw) Marshall.

Patricia spent most of her childhood in Salina and later San Fransico, California during the Second World War. After the war Patricia moved back to Salina where she graduated from Salina High in 1948. After high school Patricia worked as a secretary in the department of transportation in Salina. After 40 years Patricia retired. Patricia was a homebody, enjoying the loving company of her family, friends, and beloved dog Muggins. Patricia also enjoyed crafting. She would play Woody Woodpecker and other old cartoons for her nieces and nephews on a vintage projector in the basement. Patricia enjoyed entertaining her nieces and nephews and loved them more, in her eyes they could do no wrong. For many of her nieces and nephews Patricia was the best aunt they could ask for. Although Patricia was a homebody, she often accompanied her sister Barbara and husband Ted to trips throughout the United States seeing much of the natural wonder it has to offer. Being an amateur photographer of the family, she made sure to take photos of every occasion on her trusty 8mm camera. Later, Patricia also took up videography and continued the tradition of capturing all the wonderful moments on film. Patricia cherished the time she spent with her family and friends fueling her desire to put everything on film. So, she could always look back on all the beautiful and amazing times she spent with her family.

Special Thanks to Matt Wire for taking care of his wonderful aunt for 12 years so she can stay in her own home.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Marshall, brother Charles R. Marshall, daughter-in-law Joyce A. Marshall, and nephew Alfred T. Marshall

Marshall and Ruth E. (Shaw) Marshall.Patricia spent most of her childhood in Salina and later San Fransico, California during the Second World War. After the war Patricia moved back to Salina where she graduated from Salina High in 1948. After high school Patricia worked as a secretary in the department of transportation in Salina. After 40 years Patricia retired. Patricia was a homebody, enjoying the loving company of her family, friends, and beloved dog Muggins. Patricia also enjoyed crafting. She would play Woody Woodpecker and other old cartoons for her nieces and nephews on a vintage projector in the basement. Patricia enjoyed entertaining her nieces and nephews and loved them more, in her eyes they could do no wrong. For many of her nieces and nephews Patricia was the best aunt they could ask for. Although Patricia was a homebody, she often accompanied her sister Barbara and husband Ted to trips throughout the United States seeing much of the natural wonder it has to offer. Being an amateur photographer of the family, she made sure to take photos of every occasion on her trusty 8mm camera. Later, Patricia also took up videography and continued the tradition of capturing all the wonderful moments on film. Patricia cherished the time she spent with her family and friends fueling her desire to put everything on film. Nora Elaine Reaves, 78, passed away April 28, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on April 18, 1946 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Frank and Giovanna Koons. She received a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Friends University and went on to pursue a career in aviation with Raytheon.

Elaine is survived by Jarold E. Lewis of Lehigh, Kansas, four children, Suzette Ghent (Paul) of Manhattan, Kansas, Terry Reaves (Lynn) of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, Jerry Lewis (Kim) of Lehigh, Kansas, and Lynette Lewis (Lonnie) of Lehigh, Kansas. She dearly loved her seven grandchildren: Amber Hedden, Christopher Reaves, Quentin Ghent, Noah Ghent, Connor Davis, Brandon Lewis, and Victoria Lewis. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her beloved sister, Susan Diane Johnson, and her nieces and nephew: Crystal, Mason, Holly, and Amber.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Chapel, 1920 E Crawford St, Salina, KS 67401 at 11:00 am and followed by entombment in the Williamsburg Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Roger Cleveland, age 76, entered into rest on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the North Central Kansas Health Center, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on March 23, 1948, in Superior, Nebraska to Marvin and Helen (Uglow) Cleveland.

While growing up Roger attended 1st grade through 7th&nbsp;grade at District 6 Hillcrest School.

Roger went on to graduate from Concordia High School in the Class of 1966.&nbsp;&nbsp;He went on to attend Cloud County Community College and there he met the love of his life Bonnie.

Roger was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Bradley, on December 14, 1969, at The Baptist Church in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;They recently celebrated 54 years of marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union two boys were born, Brandon and Jeff.

He was a member of the Hill and Dale 4-H Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger also served as the secretary and treasure for the Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Roger was a farmer in the Cloud County community for many years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also worked for the Concordia Home Store for 29 years until his retirement.&nbsp;

He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, especially taking them fishing and attending all their school events.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger had a passion for farming and was an avid woodworker.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie L. Cleveland of the home in Concordia, KS; Two sons, Brandon Cleveland, and Jeff (Cora) Cleveland, both of Concordia, KS; eight grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Charlene Kellogg, and Gretchen Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Helen, a sister, Marilyn Cleveland and a brother, Bruce Cleveland.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 1-8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia.

Roger’s wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Kansas with Pastor Cynthia Smart officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Inurnment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Concordia.

Beverly Ann Stout (nee Melson), aged 74, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, in McPherson, Kansas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Born on August 14, 1949, in Oklahoma City to Roger Q. Melson and Bernice (Mead) Melson, she grew up in Oklahoma City, later moved to Edmond, OK and in 2013 moved to McPherson, KS. She was a loving wife to her late husband Rodney H. Stout, and a caring mother to her children Amy and Rodney, Jr.

Beverly lived a full life and was always ready for a celebration. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to her flowers. She enjoyed reading books and watching OU sports in her free time, Boomer Sooner! She was devoted to her clients and enjoyed serving them as a successful insurance agent. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and engaging personality.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Wurm (Mark) and son Rodney Stout, Jr. (Melissa), 4 grandchildren Laura Peuchen (Andrew), Katherine Wurm, Mary Ann Wurm, Wesley Wurm and 1 great-grandchild Miles Peuchen; and her brother Roger Melson (Carol) and many nieces and nephews who will miss her fondly.

Ina Grace (Cooper) Hendrich, 95, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024.&nbsp; She was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Russell County, to Ralph and Elva (Weinhold) Cooper.

Ina married Reuben Hendrich on July 19, 1946, and together they raised four children.&nbsp; Ina worked outside the home as a nurse’s aide, first at the Russell Hospital, then after moving to Salina, Asbury Hospital, where she also worked as a ward clerk.

Ina was active in her church, and helped with the AWANA program for many years.&nbsp; Attending church was one thing she missed once she was no longer able to do so.

Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; brother, Tolbert Cooper; sisters, Irene Hrabik, Mayme Martin and Mavis Kauffman; daughter-in-law, Linda Hendrich, and son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Minneman.

She is survived by her sons, Leroy and Leslie (Sue) Hendrich, and daughters, Anel Minneman and Faith (Randy) Rud, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1st from 6-8 PM.

Funeral services will be at Faith Bible Church, Salina, Kansas, on Thursday, May 2nd at 1:30 PM, followed by burial in Wilson Cemetery, Wilson, Kansas at 3:30 PM.

Florence’s life began on March 13, 1923, in Lincolnville. She was the daughter of John and Emma (Behn) Rindt. Florence graduated from high school in Lincolnville. She was united in marriage to Wesley Ward White on September 6, 1943, in Wichita.

As a young lady, Florence worked for Mobil Travelers and Farm Machinery. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington. Florence enjoyed playing cards and her card club and spending time with family and friends.

&nbsp;She is survived by her daughter in law Sharon White of Hutchinson; grandchildren Suzi Ammann of Herington, Rob (Jennifer) Mowat of Galva, Jason (Rhonda) White of Wichita, Jaime Potocnik of Lincolnville, Becky (Ricky Giroux) Mowat of Ramona and Jake (Megan) White of Oakley; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Florence passed away on April 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s Living Center in Marion. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, twelve siblings, daughter Cindy Mowat and son in law Robert Mowat, son Wesley Neil White and great grandson Nick Kinser.

Her family will gather with friends on Friday May 3, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. Dwight M. Swisher, 93, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born October 30, 1930 in Gypsum, KS, to Lawrence and Cora (Andrew) Swisher.

Dwight graduated from Gypsum High School in 1949 and proudly served four years in the US Navy.&nbsp; He retired from the telephone company after 29 years at which time he and Donna built a new home southeast of Gypsum, KS where they lived for 30 years. When the home was mostly built Dwight kept busy for another decade working maintenance for OCCK.&nbsp; Outside of work Dwight was a handyman and loved to hunt, fish, garden and raise goats.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna Mortimer Swisher; daughters, Terese Bogart (Earl) and Christine Slubowski (Mark); favorite grandchild, Megan Slubowski (Tomas Dominguez); brother, Leonard Swisher (Inga); Tucker the cat; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be at Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, KS with a memorial service at a future date.

Joyce Irene (Karnes) Peter July 22, 1938 ~&nbsp;April 24, 2024

Joyce Irene (Karnes) Peter, 85, passed away with her loving family at her side, April 24,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at the Sheridan&nbsp;County&nbsp;Health Complex.&nbsp;Joyce was born on the family farm in rural Sheridan County on July 22,&nbsp;1938,&nbsp;to Floyd and Ida Nell (Schropp) Karnes. She grew up with her sister, Judith Weeks and brother,&nbsp;Victor&nbsp;Karnes.&nbsp;Joyce attended Sheridan County High School and graduated with the class of&nbsp;1956.&nbsp;After graduation, she married Charles Babcock.&nbsp;They moved to Hays,&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;and&nbsp;were&nbsp;blessed with three children, Douglas,&nbsp;Susan,&nbsp;and Kristine.&nbsp;They later divorced.&nbsp;

Joyce and&nbsp;her&nbsp;children moved to Hoxie where she worked as&nbsp;secretary at&nbsp;the Hoxie High School.&nbsp;In 1971, Joyce married Verl Mowry. He&nbsp;passed away&nbsp;in 1977.&nbsp;Joyce met Gary Gayle Peter,&nbsp;and they were married January 16, 1988.&nbsp;They lived on Gary’s farm&nbsp;and spent many happy years together.&nbsp;Gary passed away on May 20, 1996.&nbsp;Joyce moved back to Hoxie and worked at the Sheridan County Hospital until she retired.&nbsp;Joyce was an excellent seamstress,&nbsp;making many of her children’s clothes and made a blue jean&nbsp;quilt&nbsp;for each&nbsp;of her children and&nbsp;grandchildren.&nbsp;Joyce’s passion was spending time with her grandchildren and family.&nbsp;She was a member of the Hoxie Presbyterian Church&nbsp;and&nbsp;had a deep faith and showed it to others with her kindness and caring.&nbsp;She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Joyce leaves to mourn her passing son, Douglas Babcock and wife Dalene of Hoxie, Kansas; daughters, Susan Ellmore and husband John of Garden City, Kansas and Kristine Babcock of Hoxie, Kansas; &nbsp;step-children,&nbsp;Tom Peter, Tony Peter, and Jeni&nbsp;Duerksen;&nbsp;sister, Judith Weeks of Hoxie, Kansas;&nbsp;sister-in-law, Ardith Karnes&nbsp;of Hoxie, Kansas;&nbsp;9 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren &nbsp;and many nieces, nephews, and&nbsp;friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands,&nbsp;Verl Mowry and&nbsp;Gary Peter;&nbsp;brother, Vic Karnes;&nbsp;stepson; Vern Mowry, and step-grandson; Vess Mowry.&nbsp;

A funeral service is planned for Friday, May 3, 2024, 10:30 A.M. at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas with burial following the service in the Selden&nbsp;Cemetery.&nbsp;Visitation will be held Thursday, May 2,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.&nbsp;at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00&nbsp;P.M.&nbsp;Memorials are suggested To the Sheridan County Library or the Sheridan County Long Term Care Activities.&nbsp;Memorials may be sent in care of Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, PO Box 987, Hoxie, Kansas 67740.&nbsp;Words of comfort may be left at&nbsp;www.mickeyleopoldfuneral.com.

Therean L. Towns,&nbsp;of&nbsp;Palco, Kansas,&nbsp;passed away&nbsp;on&nbsp;Monday, April 22, 2024,&nbsp;at&nbsp;Redbud Villagein&nbsp;Plainville, Kansas.&nbsp;He&nbsp;was born&nbsp;August 24, 1936,&nbsp;in&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;to&nbsp;Russell and Edna (Thyfault) Towns.&nbsp;Therean&nbsp;grew up in&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;and after graduating&nbsp;from&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;High School, he attended Kansas State University&nbsp;earning&nbsp;a B.S. Degree in Animal Science in 1957. He later received his&nbsp;Master’s&nbsp;in Education&nbsp;from Fort Hays University.&nbsp;On January 25, 1958, he married&nbsp;Mary Doreen (Fickel) Towns&nbsp;in Chanute, Kansas.&nbsp;They moved to&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;where&nbsp;he&nbsp;farmed&nbsp;with his father,&nbsp;raised their family,&nbsp;and taught vocational agriculture at&nbsp;Palco.&nbsp;Mary&nbsp;preceded him in death on April 20, 2018.

Therean taught Ag for 30 years at&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;High School. He loved to teach young people and&nbsp;sharehis knowledge and love for agriculture and Hereford cattle with his grandkids. To make it more special, Therean was a Charter member of the&nbsp;Palco&nbsp;FFA Chapter and was&nbsp;Palco’s&nbsp;FFA first state farmer. Therean continued his love of teaching young people&nbsp;as&nbsp;a 4-H leader for 20 years.&nbsp;

Farming and ranching&nbsp;were&nbsp;a very important part&nbsp;in&nbsp;defining&nbsp;who Therean was. He was a member of the Kansas Hereford Association.&nbsp;Therean and Mary were named master farmers in 1995. This honor was in recognition of their leadership in Ag environment stewardship and service to the community. Together&nbsp;they&nbsp;were involved in the program.&nbsp;

Therean belonged to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. He was a faithful member willing to support the church in&nbsp;any way&nbsp;he could. He was an active member of the Knights of&nbsp;Columbus,&nbsp;and he taught CCD with Mary for 20 years.&nbsp;

Therean&nbsp;is survived by his&nbsp;son, Sean Towns and wife Sandra of&nbsp;Palco, Kansas; daughter, Santana Towns of&nbsp;Palco, Kansas; twelve grandchildren,&nbsp;Roscoe Holloway, Jacob Towns, Monica&nbsp;Roberts, Topanga Towns-Davis, Alexander Towns, Kamillia&nbsp;Keller, Francis Towns, Mary Claire&nbsp;Motzel, Madeline Towns, Miriam Towns, Thaddeus Towns, and Jesse Towns;&nbsp;and&nbsp;eleven&nbsp;great-grandchildren,&nbsp;Freya&nbsp;Towns,&nbsp;Tsoka Davis,&nbsp;Odessa Holloway,&nbsp;Selena Towns,&nbsp;Alayah Towns,Zayne Towns,&nbsp;Claire&nbsp;Motzel,&nbsp;Willow Roberts,&nbsp;Oaklynn Towns,&nbsp;Kaiyu&nbsp;Davis&nbsp;and Emery Towns.

He was preceded in death by his&nbsp;parents;&nbsp;wife, Mary Towns;&nbsp;and sister, Nancy Werner.&nbsp;

Therean had an unwavering faith and unending love for God and family. He loved his family&nbsp;unconditionally.&nbsp;Although&nbsp;he is gone from our sight,&nbsp;his unending love for family, his wisdom,and philosophy of life will live on in&nbsp;all&nbsp;the lives he touched. &nbsp;&nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held&nbsp;Monday, April 29,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at&nbsp;10AM, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with interment to follow in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Zurich, Kansas. Visitation will be&nbsp;Sunday,&nbsp;6PM to&nbsp;8PM&nbsp;with a&nbsp;Vigil Service at 7PM at the church.&nbsp;&nbsp;
