Jerry Donald Smith September 5, 1943 ~ November 2, 2023

Jerry Donald Smith, 80, of Lindsborg, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Kenwood View Rehabilitation and Health Care in Salina.  Jerry was born September 5, 1943, in Nashville, AR, to the late Harmon and the late Ruth (Ellis) Smith.  Jerry was the husband of the late Sharon Lee (Odam) Smith.  

He is survived by three sons: Donny Smith (Jamie) of Clovis, CA, Jerry Smith of Fresno, CA, and Jason Smith (Mandy) of Lindsborg, as well as his grandchildren: Nick, Kylie, Blake, Madison, and Jace; and great-grandchildren: Connor and Kellyn.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon; daughter, Rhonda Smith; and grandson, Christopher Smith.  

Cremation has been chosen, and private family ceremonies will be held at a later date in California.

Betty Lee Baker Lemley was born and raised in Minneapolis, Kansas, the eldest of ten siblings.&nbsp; As a grade-schooler, she rode a horse to attend a one-room schoolhouse. She graduated from Minneapolis High School.&nbsp; At the age of 18 she met her perfect partner, C. Burl Lemley, who was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base (formerly Smokey Hill Air Force Base) while he served in the forces during World War II as a Celestial Navigation Trainer.&nbsp; At the time, Betty was a Marymount College freshman and evidently impressed Burl with her captivating dance moves at a school-sponsored dance.&nbsp; 

They married soon after and spent over 50 happy years together. He was always her check-and-balance while she added a zest of life to his engineer’s precision. Most of their 50 plus years were spent in Beaumont, Texas. They built their own home there, designed by Burl, on Taylor’s Bayou, and treasured their encounters with birds and aquatic life – even alligators! They golfed often together and were consummate and gracious hosts for a large social circle.

 Betty was an accomplished cook, as well as a lively conversationalist. She was active in many philanthropies and social clubs. Betty was also an ardent animal lover, and throughout her life owned and adored many dogs and cats.&nbsp; She and Burl traveled extensively throughout the world and spent extended time in Italy learning the language and perfecting their photography skills. A life-long lover of the arts, Betty obtained her master’s degree in fine arts from Lamar University at the age of 67.&nbsp; Although she lived in Texas for most of her life, her vibrantly colored canvases often reflected the big, dramatic skies of her birthplace, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a prolific and award-winning artist, and her paint brush and artisan community provided her years of joy.

Betty was preceded in death by her cherished Burl, and is survived by her sister, Eileen Baker Berkley, of Salina, Kansas. Although she had no children, “Aunt B” was a beloved elder to many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.

We remember her for her confident and optimistic outlook, her Texas accent, her charm and charisma in any social situation, her many works of art that adorn our family’s walls, her quick smile and infectious laugh, and her strong Catholic faith. We will also remember fondly Betty and Burl’s tradition of a single, perfectly mixed and shaken martini, enjoyed on most days of their lives right at 5:00 o’clock.

John Edward Selzer, 78 of rural Canton died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living, McPherson. He was born February 22, 1945 in Canton, the son of Wilbur Edward and Lizzie Mae (Yoder) Selzer.

 He was a self employed welder and a lifelong Canton resident.Survivors include brothers, Harold (Penny) Selzer, McPherson, Steven (Debra) Selzer, Canton, Ben (Beth) Selzer, Hesston, Myron Selzer, Canton and Eldon (Teresa) Selzer, Landisville, PA; a sister, Marilyn Mohler, Kirkwood, PA; four nieces; five nephews; one great niece and one great nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Allen Mohler.

Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Spring Valley Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Canton, with a memorial service immediately following at the church. Betty Jane Maynard (1931-2023) peacefully passed away on October 30th in Wichita, KS. As a loving wife, mother and homemaker Betty enjoyed her growing family and friends. She filled her spare time encouraging plants to bloom and creating beautiful stitchery. Betty is proceeded in death by her husband Bert G. Maynard, daughter Rebecca Lambert, and granddaughter Susan Lambert. The world changes from year to year, our lives from day by day, but the love and memory of you shall never pass. Lillian Mae Brown, 94, of Salina, died Friday, October 27, 2023. Lillian was born May 1, 1929 in Pfeifer, KS to Joseph and Regina (Jacobs) Stegman. She wed Vernon C. Brown, Sr. on April 11, 1952 and together they had five children.

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, and a son. Survivors include 3 siblings, 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina.

Micole Marie Anderson (Kallman) was born on April 28, 1979, in Belleville, Kansas, to proud parents Jay and Lynell Kallman. She left this world on October 31, 2023, at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Micole graduated from Belleville High School with the Class of 1997, and she spent her life dedicated to her family and her passions. She was a cherished wife to Devin Anderson of Concordia, Kansas, and a devoted mother to her daughters, Kennedy Anderson of Belleville, Kansas, and Justice Kennidy of Wahiawa, HI. Micole had a special bond with her sisters, Ashley Kallman of Bedminster, New Jersey, and Erin Kallman (Hank and Avree) of Belleville, Kansas; brother-in-law, Michael &amp; Sandy Anderson (Mattie &amp; Alexandria) of Appleton, Wisconsin and father in law, Elton “Andy” Anderson of Concordia, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Rosetta Anderson.

Micole's greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to her beloved grandsons, Ryker Hovater and Khai Anderson, both of Belleville, Kansas. She cherished every moment with them and could often be found sitting in her recliner, playing patty cake, and sharing precious smiles.

Micole had a creative spirit and a talent for crafting. She could turn any old item into a work of art with her imaginative touch. Her crafts were a reflection of her vibrant personality and her ability to find beauty in the simplest of things.

Micole will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her warm smile, creative spirit, unconditional love and load boisterous personality will be cherished forever.

A memorial service to celebrate Micole's life will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Friends may sign the register book on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 1-8 pm and the family will greet friends from 6-8 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS. Our dear mother Diana Showalter, went to be with our Lord at the young age of 58, on October 19th, 2023 in Edgewater, Florida.

Diana had such a loving personality, and anyone who got to know her knew she loved with her whole heart. She always put everyone else’s needs before herself. The first thing you’d noticed about her were bright blue eyes and beautiful smile.

She loved Meatloaf, (the band not the food), and having dance parties in the living room while she cleaned. She loved the beach and the heat. She was a hard worker and loved her job where she would come in contact with alligators and other wildlife in the Florida area. She was a fearless soul, She would make a decision and just go with it, and she’d conquer it with no backing down.

She loved and was loved by many and will be missed immensely.

Diana was Born October 24th, 1964 to Melva Margaret Dopson and Donald Lawerence Showalter.  She is survived by her father, William Krieger, her brothers and sisters Mike, Bill, Lori, Butch, Bob, Jim, and Lily, along with many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Her daughters and grandchildren, Teela Martinez (Isaac, Josiah, &amp; Moriah) , Khatrina Main (Kiera,Kyndra,Caelyn,Bella, &amp;Lucy)  and Kristina Vinduska (Cameron, Emily, Cora &amp; Jared), her best friend and sister in law, Sue Hempe, and her husband, Michael Makovsky

Diana is preceded in death by her mom, Gayle Krieger, Brother, Rick, and her birth parents, Melva and Donald Showalter.

She loved celebrating different holidays by dressing up. Christmas at the beach was her favorite and building “snow” men out of sand was something she looked forward to every year.

Diana’s Celebration of life will be held at the Enterprise United Methodist Church at 3pm on Saturday December 2, 2023. Please celebrate her by wearing a funny Christmas sweater.

Karen Elizabeth Rhodes, 80, of Solomon, passed away Sunday, October 22nd, 2023.Karen was born in McPherson, Kansas on June 24, 1943, a daughter of Myrtle Lucille (Achilles) and Julius Andrew Nelson. She was happily married to Lynn Rhodes for over 40 years. They were married in Enid, Oklahoma.She and her beloved husband Lynn owned and ran Rhodes Repair for many years. Karen was a 'Jack of All Trades.' She enjoyed making something amazing out of nothing. Whether she was fixing shopping carts, building doll houses and many other woodworking projects to even building a race car she would always make it happen. In her younger years, Karen loved the theater and being on stage. Barry James Little, 56, electrician and local business owner, passed away on Saturday October 28th, 2023.

Barry was born on October 27th, 1967, in Emporia, KS to Donald Parker “Huck” Little and Sherry Marie Stroda Little. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1986. Barry met the love of his life, Janell Curl in Garden City, KS and the two married on June 4th, 1988. Barry enlisted with the Air Force and was stationed in Dayton, OH where he learned to become an electrician. Once Barry’s service with the Air Force ended, he and Janell picked a place on the map between their two hometowns to move to and ended up selecting Salina, KS to raise their family. Barry worked as an electrician for a local company and eventually started his own company L&amp;S Electric.

Barry enjoyed getting the family together at his house to try out new bar-b-que recipes and to watch the Chiefs game in fall or swim in his pool in the summer. He was an avid golfer who was always one swing tweak away from perfecting his golf game. Barry was a fantastic grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren very much.

Barry is survived by his wife, Janell; sons, Ryan Wells (Jessica) &amp; Alex Little (Casey); daughter, Nicole George (David); grandchildren, Eli Schmidt, Grayson Little, Lucas Wells, Tianna Blevins, Addison Spencer, Averie Little, River George; brother's Colby Little (Christi) &amp; Tyrone Little (Elaine); brother-in-law, Jim Curl; sisters-in-law Carolyn Rupp (Jack) &amp; Lori Curl and many, many friends.

Nancy Hernandez, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.&nbsp; She was born on September 8, 1938 in Salina to Quirino and Maria (Auguiano) Hernandez. &nbsp;

Nancy retired from Tony’s Pizza Service after 28 years of service.&nbsp; She also was a caregiver to her parents in their later years.

Lee Nave&nbsp;passed away, Friday,&nbsp;October 27, 2023 after a long battle with Interstitial&nbsp;Lung Disease.&nbsp; She&nbsp;was born in Moran, KS to mom, Leila Sigler and dad, Vuew&nbsp;Sigler in June 1951. Lee and her mom moved to Wichita where she attended East High School.&nbsp; She met and married Jack Smith and they had one daughter, Jennifer.&nbsp; They moved to Salina in 1979 where Lee enjoyed a 32-year career with the local energy company. She had also opened her own photography studio in 1990, La Vogue Photography, which she operated for 15 years. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and pleasing them with her creative efforts.

Lee met Claude Edward Nave and they were married in 1993. They had 30 wonderful, loving years together supporting each other unconditionally. For 29 years, they lived in the same house and had so many friends and neighbors.&nbsp; They were especially supportive during her long illness through home visits, meals and thoughtful caring. &nbsp;

Surviving are her husband, Ed Nave of the home; daughter, Jennifer (Smith) Papka of Houston, TX; stepdaughter, Marcia Evans (Gary); stepsons, Edward Lee Nave and&nbsp;Samuel&nbsp;J. Nave (Katie). Ed and Lee were blessed with their grandchildren; Nick Papka and Leah Papka of Austin, Jacob Evans and Lucas Evans of Overland Park, Elle Nave and Harrison Nave of Overland Park. &nbsp;

There will be no visitation and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4th at Emmanuel Church Salina, 1325 E. Cloud, casual attire.

Glenda was born on September 11, 1928, in Beatrice, NE, the daughter of Fred Louis and Pauline R. (Schroeder) Cornelius.&nbsp; On April 19, 1953, Glenda was united in marriage to Richard Allan Murray in Wymore, NE.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Judith, Sharon, David, and James.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and volunteered at Save ‘N Share and for Meals On Wheels.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 70 years, Richard of the home; four children, Judith Martinez (Pedro) of Copperas Cove, TX, Sharon Peterson (John) of Albuquerque, NM, David Murray (Sondra) of Albuquerque, NM, and James Murray (Elisabeth) of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Sondra Germer (Larry) of Diller, NE; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.

Garland was born on August 17, 1938, in Salina, KS, the son of Garland Elmo Murray Hill, Sr. and Mildred Martha (Van Ness) Hill.&nbsp; He attended Salina High School.&nbsp; On September 28, 1957, Garland was united in marriage to LaDonna Marie Schlotz in Salina, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Garland, III, Sonia, Sally, and Sean.

He attended New Life Foursquare Church and was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association.&nbsp;

Survivors include: his loving wife of 66 years, LaDonna of the home; children, Garland “Skip” Hill, III of Hutchinson, KS, Sonia Hill of Topeka, KS, Sally Groves (Steve) of Glen Haven, CO, and Sean Hill (Suzette Ruddle-Hill) of McPherson, KS; eight grandchildren, Seth Richard Hill, Matthew Pope, Cody Hill, Dustin Hill, Abigail Bundy, Nathanael Groves, Christine Groves, and Daniel Groves; six great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and&nbsp; friends.

Robert “Bob” Dean Carlson, 68, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital, Wichita.&nbsp; Bob was an auto mechanic for Consolidated Motors and Ken Goering Motors and retired from Pfizer where he was a production equipment specialist.

Bob was born on May 23, 1955, in Herington, KS, the son of Dale Lee and Delores Elizabeth (Miltz) Carlson.&nbsp; He graduated from Centre High School in Lost Springs, KS in 1973.&nbsp; On September 15, 2001, Bob was united in marriage to Brenda Sue (Parks) Nading in McPherson.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson.

Judy was born in Abilene, Kansas on November 24, 1943, a daughter of Waunetta C. (Parks) and Edward Hughes Wray.

She was Crew Chief at Beech Aircraft/Raytheon and installed electronics in airplanes.

On February 14, 2003, Judy married Ernie Leroy VanHorn in Salina.

Survivors include her husband, Ernie, of the home; sons, Joe Mark, Gene VanHorn; daughter, Ginger Lemaster (Jeff), all of Salina, Kansas.

She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald Heath; brother, Clarence Wray; and daughter, Gayela Cooper.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Sherry Wiedmer, 71, of Salina, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born in Salina, KS, to Calvary and Neva (Ditto) Miller on March 22, 1952.&nbsp; She retired from Bimbo Banking Company as a retail manager for 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Steve Miller and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Nicole Deatherage and Alexandria Curtis-Bush; sisters, Judy Calfee and Rhonda Vignery; five granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Roselawn Memorial Park.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will follow at The Salvation Army building, 1137 N Santa Fe, Salina.

Louis Anthony Marcozzi, 61, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 22nd, 2023.

Louis was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania on November 27th, 1961, a son of Virginia (Masci) Marcozzi and Louis Marcozzi. He was an Engineer for 30 years at Phillips Lighting.

Louis enjoyed golfing, was an avid Steelers and WVU football fan and sports car enthusiast.

He is survived by son, Louis (Madison) Marcozzi II; two grandchildren, Mack and Macon Marcozzi; sister, Lynn Ann Marcozzi and two nieces, Gianna and Sophia Marcozzi and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Louis was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27th, 2023, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Ryan Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Salina, Kansas.

Franklin Kent Russell, 87, passed away on October 17, 2023 in Salina, Kansas. Frank was born on February 12, 1936 to John and Beatrice (Hoshor) Russell in Savannah, Missouri.

Frank was raised on a farm near Savannah Missouri. He graduated from Savannah High School. Frank worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He sold Lely farm implements. He owned his own business RCR building oil field tanks. He retired from Exide Cooperation. Frank and his wife Betty owned and operated Natural Connections for many years. They loved traveling and selling herbs and vitamins and educating the public on alternative health.

Frank married Rhonda (Ward) in 1953 together they had 4 children Becky, Kathie, Mike, and Jill. Frank married Betty (Boller) in 1969. Frank gained two sons Robert and Dean. Frank and Betty had one child Nicole. Frank and Betty were married for 53 years prior to Betty’s passing October 14, 2023.

Survivors include: his 7 children Becky Fischer,, Kathie (Cary) Burt, Mike, and Jill Utech, Robert (Melissa) Reinke, Dean (Lora) Reinke, and Nicole (Jay) Betz, and&nbsp; sister Bridgett Ash.&nbsp;Frank was blessed with many grandchildren. Brett Green, Tommy Crawley, Timmy Crawley, Brian Slater, Chad Slater, Mitch Slater, Wade Burt, Ashley Ballou, Michael Russell, Christine Grimes, Natasha Sears, Cameron Betz, and Cory Betz. He also has several great grandchildren that love him.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Betty, both his parents, brothers John, William and Bill&nbsp; and two granddaughters Rhonda and Misty.

Carol I. Williams, 84 years of age of Salina passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at home. She was born on May 20, 1939, in Marquette, Kansas, to Don and Ada Peterson.

Carol was a 1957 graduate of Marquette High School. She was then a childcare provider, running a home daycare for 39 years.

On June 23, 1961, Carol married Robert (Bob) Williams in Fairbury, Nebraska. Together they had four children, Rodger Peterson, Terri Peterson, Robert (Bobby) Williams Jr., and Mark Williams.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Ada Peterson; husband, Robert Williams; brothers, Jack Peterson, Bill Peterson, and Dick Peterson; and sisters, Lila Kindt, Barbara Peterson, Phyllis Strifler, and Patricia Peterson.

Survivors include her four children; her sister, Mildred (Millie) Maskil; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Carol loved bowling, bingo, playing cards, dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 9th from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1700 Beverly Drive, Salina KS. 67401. This will be a casual, come-and-go get-together, where we would love to hear about your favorite memories with Carol.

P. Russell Miller, 80, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Pearl Russell Miller was born June 7, 1943, in Independence, Kansas to Rose Alice and Pearl Wilson Miller.

Russell went to school up to the 8th grade at Gypsum, Kansas. He enlisted into the Marines at age 16.

On March 5, 1966, in Marquette, Kansas, he married Doris Ann Swabby.&nbsp;They were blessed with two children, Debra Ann and David Russell.

They lived in Salina, Kansas for seven years where Russell worked at Golf Truck Stop, Sinclair Service Station, and later at Farm Bureau as a truck driver delivering farm supplies throughout Kansas. He moved his family to rural Rice county and continued to assist his father-in-law with farming. He had also worked at S-G Diesel Power in McPherson and at Little River Manufacturing,&nbsp;a firm that made airplane parts. In 1992, he became an owner of his own service station, Miller's Service Station. In 2000, he went to work for Turkey Creek Farm in Moundridge, delivering newly hatched turkeys to places in mid America. He later drove a delivery truck for Stutzmans Greenhouse in Pleasantville, Kansas.

In 2017, Russell and Doris moved from the family farm near Windom to Hutchinson, Kansas where he finally retired.

Russell's hobbies were farming, fishing, hunting, automobile mechanics, and loving his dogs, Mitzy and Brownie. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Doris, mother, father, and brother, Charles Miller.

Survivors are children, Debra and Tim Skalinder, David Miller and Brenda Barber; sister, Carrolyn Henry; grandchildren, Dakota and Rebecca Skalinder, Alie and Andrew Durst, and Josie Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Kenna, Bryson, and Delani.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, at Excelsior Cemetery, Marquette&nbsp; Kansas.

Charles William Herman, 91, of Concordia passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the NCK Medical Center in Concordia.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on December 10, 1931, in rural Lincoln County, Kansas to Wendell Robert and Anna Arminda (Locke) Herman.Charles attended elementary school at Prairie Grove, a one-room school with one teacher for all 8 grades.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and from Kansas State University in 1953 with a B.S. in geology.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Upon graduation, he received a commission in the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and served his country from 1954 to 1956.&nbsp;&nbsp;He then returned to Kansas State and received an M.S. degree in geology and worked for oil companies in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana for 8 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;After returning to Kansas State for a teaching certificate, he taught 8th-grade science and coached basketball at Concordia Junior-Senior High School for 23 years while also farming in Lincoln County.&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles retired from teaching in 1988 but continued farming full time in Lincoln County until 2010.

He married Leota Nitsch on August 31, 1952, at Bethany Baptist Church, rural Hunter, KS, their home church.&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles’ grandfather, Rev. Charley Herman, a Methodist minister for many years performed the ceremony. God blessed Charles and Leota with 5 children: Douglas Lynn, Sandra Joyce, Anna Irene, Eric Wendell and Kenneth Charles.

Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and served Him faithfully his entire life in the many places he lived.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a long-time member of The Baptist Church in Concordia where he served over the years as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, Finance Board member, and on various committees and ministry teams.

Charles was a quiet person, a deep thinker, had a dry sense of humor and was very witty. He was a devoted and loving husband and father.&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles enjoyed woodworking and made several pieces of furniture for their home, doll houses for the granddaughters and wooden toys for the grandsons.&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles and Leota enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of the 50 states (not Hawaii).&nbsp;&nbsp;They also spent 16 days in Cape Town, South Africa in 1999 visiting their former exchange student and spent 33 days in Alaska in 2008 with an RV group of 45 motor-home enthusiasts from all over the U.S. touring the state of Alaska.&nbsp;&nbsp;Many members of the RV group continued to meet annually for a reunion and have become good friends.

Charles Herman

Corey Todd Flood, 61, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.&nbsp; Corey was a Quality Control Inspector at Mid Kansas Machine and was a life-long resident of McPherson.

He was born Oct. 2, 1962, in McPherson, the son of Robert E. and Juanita M. “Corky” (Smay) Flood. Corey attended the McPherson Schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1981.

On November 28, 1992, Corey was united in marriage to Ida Jean Oriet in McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with five children.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Ida of the home; five children, Dillon Flood (Allison) of McPherson, Cassie Schoonover (Colton) of McPherson, Todd Flood of McPherson, Jamie Spaich (Levi) of Windom, KS, and Aerianna Flood of McPherson; two brothers, Mike Flood of Wichita, KS and Scott Flood (Georgia) of Newton, KS; six grandchildren, Katie, Cashton, Grace, Elijah, Rowan, and Timothy; mother-in-law &amp; father-in-law, Nellie &amp; Joseph Oriet of McPherson; and several nieces &amp; nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Robbin Clark.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, October 30, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 31, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Corey Todd Flood

Luava Marie Hederstedt, 96, longtime resident of Saline County, Kansas, died October 18, 2023, in Texas without major illness or hospitalization. Luava was born in Gove County, Kansas, as the eldest of Will and Marie Fullmer’s six children.

When Luava was 10, her family moved to central California during the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s, and soon after she trusted Christ as her Savior. Returning to Kansas in her twenties, Luava met and married Paul Hederstedt, who passed away in 2013 after 60 years of marriage. They farmed east of Salina for 20 years, and Luava spent countless hours driving gravel roads into town to give her children various opportunities—music and swim lessons, rollerskating, choir and others. They were longtime members of First Covenant Church, where Luava served as church secretary for many years.

 Before that, she worked as a secretary with two companies and later as an ALFAC insurance agent.Luava is remembered for her faith in God, for deeply loving her family, and for volunteering and serving others in countless ways behind the scenes, including Meals on Wheels. She took great joy in hearing her family make music and sing and play hymns. 

Her greatest regret in the past couple of years was not being able to read even a large-print Bible because of macular degeneration; listening to the YouVersion audio Bible on her iPad became a lifeline for her.Luava is survived by her three children (and their spouses):&nbsp; Randy (Chris, deceased), Kansas; Roger (Julie), South Carolina; and Sharon (John), Texas.&nbsp; Her 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren live in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina and Michigan. She also has one brother, three sisters and many neices and nephews in California, along with numerous other cousins and relatives.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Abilene Bible Baptist Church Family Life Center,&nbsp;409 N. Van Buren St, Abilene, KS 67410. Joe&nbsp;F.&nbsp;Dolezal, 80, Hays,&nbsp;passed away&nbsp;Wednesday,&nbsp;October&nbsp;25, 2023 in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was born&nbsp;September 16, 1943&nbsp;in Belleville, Kansas&nbsp;to Elmer and Marcella (Kalivoda) Dolezal.&nbsp;He attended school at White School,&nbsp;Cubaand Belleville High School.&nbsp;He did not attend kindergarten because White School had eight grades in one room but no kindergarten.&nbsp;Joe's mother told him he was gifted and&nbsp;didn't&nbsp;need it.&nbsp;His wife reminded&nbsp;him that everything he really needed to know, like sharing, neatness,&nbsp;and good manners, he should have learned in kindergarten-hence his adult problems!&nbsp;

When Joe's abundant musical talent took over in high school age, he drove to Belleville because there were two outstanding music teachers there&nbsp;-Mr. Van Gundy and Mr. Nelson King.&nbsp;Following three busy years at Belleville High School, graduating in 1961, Joe eventually went to Fort Hays State University and majored in music education in 1965 (Mr. King's advice).&nbsp;He earned his Masters of Music Education in 1970.

His freshman year he played Charley Dalrymple in&nbsp;Brigadoon&nbsp;at FortHays.&nbsp;In the audience his future wife, Sue Nelson, noticed him singing "Come to Me, Bend to Me" and thought,&nbsp;"Wow, he is talented and cute".&nbsp;A year later, she and Joe finally met when she accompanied him on his voice recital.&nbsp;Then he discovered Sue lived a block from campus with a mother who kept her refrigerator full.&nbsp;Joe enjoyed her food.&nbsp;His sophomore year he had the lead in&nbsp;Kismet.

Joe married Sue Nelson&nbsp;on&nbsp;November&nbsp;1, 1963,&nbsp;in Hays,&nbsp;both completing their music education degrees.&nbsp;Joe taught two years in Plainville, three years in Belleville, and 28 years in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;He had three choral groups selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association state convention and served as the president of the Kansas American Choral Directors Association.&nbsp;He took four choirs to Europe, three to New York festivals,&nbsp;and five show choirs to Disney World.

Following his retirement in 1998, he and Sue bought a convenience store, laundromat, RV park, and many rental units that kept him busy.

Joe and Sue's union was blessed with three wonderful children.&nbsp;Scott and Darlene (Randa) Dolezal and all three of their sons,&nbsp;Steven&nbsp;and Kate (Koetting) Dolezal&nbsp;with&nbsp;Sofia and Riley, Matt and Meagan (Jennings) Dolezal with Brooks, and Joshua and Alexa (Pacheco) Dolezal with Mark Ryan live in Amarillo, Texas.&nbsp;

Mark Joseph Dolezal, his middle child, died in 2016. He was Joe's right hand managing rental units, etc.

Jan&nbsp;Staab,&nbsp;the apple of her father's eye, married to Kirk Staab, live in Irving, Texas&nbsp;with two sons Kaden and Callie (Siruta)&nbsp;Staab&nbsp;and Kyler Staab living in Colby, Kansas.

He is also survived by his brother,&nbsp;Loren and Beverly Dolezal,&nbsp;and several nieces and nephews.
