Karma Jo Branstetter, 61, of Salina, KS, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born on August 6, 1962, in Salina, to Robert and Karen (Strickland) Legore.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert.

Survivors include her children, Jessica Wegele and Robert Branstetter; grandchildren, Domanick, Alexis, Zoee, and Greysen Branstetter; mother, Karen; and sisters, Kathy Ewertz (Barney), Kristy Brown, and Karol Baeza (Felipe).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Velma McLaughlin, 76, passed away on February 18, 2024 at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina, KS.

Velma was born on September 09, 1947 in Pittsylvania County, VA to parents James H. and Annie M. Coleman McLaughlin.

Velma was working as a Compensation Advisor.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Velma is survived by Loretta McLaughlin (Sister) of Brooklyn, NY, Michelle Lewis (Friend) of Salina, KS.

Donald Leslie Bahr, 77, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Marquette, KS (Kanopolis Lake), peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Donnie was born on August 27, 1946, in McPherson, KS, the son of Virgil Laverne and Mildred Pauline (Theleman) Bahr.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He served in the Kansas Army National Guard and worked as an electrician.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Mardell &amp; Jeff White of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Sister Rita Ann Mazanec died February 27, 2024, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was 94 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 73 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Colby, KS on February 3, 1930 to Adolph and Hattie Kobza Mazanec, the sixth of seven children, and was baptized Irene Joan.&nbsp;&nbsp;She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on September 8, 1949.&nbsp;&nbsp;On March 18, 1950, Irene received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Rita Ann.&nbsp;&nbsp;She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1951 and final vows on August 15, 1954.&nbsp;

Sister Rita Ann received a BA degree in History from Marymount College in 1968.&nbsp;&nbsp;She taught primary grades in Aurora, IL; Tipton, Plainville and Aurora, KS; Fairbury, NE, Beloit and Oakley, KS for a total of 42 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;After retirement she moved to Concordia and did various duties and served as bookkeeper for the community.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2007 she moved to the Motherhouse.

Sister Rita Ann was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.&nbsp;&nbsp;A Bible Vigil Service will be held February 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Auditorium with Sister Marilyn Wall as the eulogist.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Mass of Christian Burial will be March 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Auditorium with Father Barry Brinkman presiding.&nbsp;&nbsp;The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, 325 W. 6th&nbsp;St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials for Sister Rita Ann Mazanec may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care/Retirement Fund or the Apostolic Works of the Sisters; P.O. Ardyn (Ardy) Erickson, 84, of Kansas City, died peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024. Ardy was born on May 22, 1939 in Salina, Kansas to Lawrence and Neda (Smith) Allison. Ardy was a homemaker and mother of four with her former husband, Ronald H. Pflumm and she later worked as a paraprofessional in mental health and had a ten-year career in real estate. During her marriage to second husband, Eric (Rick) Erickson, she went into hotel hospitality management together with Rick. Ardy also worked as a bookkeeper and in banking.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ben Allison, husband of 33 years, Eric Erickson, and her children; R. Nicholas Pflumm and Allison Pflumm&nbsp;Gudikunst&nbsp;and grandson, Ricardo Pflumm. Survivors include her children; Lauri Pflumm Guidry and Garot Pflumm (Marisol); stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Eddy) Malik and ten grandchildren along with six great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 1-2 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2024 with a service starting at 2 pm at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.

Marilyn Jo Homolka, 79, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 in Salina, KS. She was born March 19, 1944 in Ellsworth, KS to Joe and Emilie (Mattas) Lank. Marilyn married James Homolka in Ellsworth on November 9, 1968. She was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County where she was a member of Ellsworth Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 174 Auxiliary. She worked at Citizen’s State Bank for 43 years, retiring as a loan officer in 2010.

Marilyn is survived by her husband James Homolka of Ellsworth; son Ryan Homolka (Michelle) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Sumner and Sophia; sisters, Janet Peppiatt (Sam) of Garland, TX and Linda Heitschmidt (Art) of Wichita, KS; brother Terry Lank (Darlene) of Moundridge, KS; and sister-in-law Gayle Lank of Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Lank.

Marilyn loved spending time with her family and grandkids. She also kept very busy playing cards and bunco. You could find her several afternoons sitting around a card table enjoying her large circle of friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and those friends.

Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will be present 6-8 p.m.

Gerald Oscar Rindt February 13, 1934 ~ February 24, 2024

Gerald Oscar Rindt was born February 13, 1934, to Oscar and Nora (Heideman) Rindt, at the family farm west of White City, Ks. Gerald attended #4 District File School, north of Latimer, Ks, for his elementary education. Gerald graduated from Herington high School with the class of 1952. Gerald joined the Air Force in 1957, serving until 1961 as a mechanic, working primarily on C-133 cargo planes in Dover, DE. After his military service, Gerald returned to the family farm to work with his parents. On May 24, 1964, he married Sherril (Taylor) Clark, of Council Grove, KS, including her three sons in the marriage. A daughter, Kristi, was born in 1965, completing the family. Gerald worked off farm jobs, including the Fairmont Creamery in Council Grove, and Welch Manufacturing at the Herington air base.

In the late 1970s continuing to live on and operate the farm was no longer an option, and Gerald moved his family to Salina, Ks, where he took a job at Wyatt Manufacturing for a short while. He then started his 30 + year career as a truck driver. He hauled flour, propane, and fuel during his driving career. After deciding to stop driving the truck, Gerald worked for MHC, a Kenworth truck dealer, in their parts department for several years, before retiring in 2014. Gerald loved spending time with his family. Holidays were always a special time to catch up with everyone, talk about farming and all the changes in machinery. He always enjoyed driving in the countryside and looking at crops, construction projects and every season in Kansas. Gerald is survived by his children, Keith Clark, Ken (Cheryl) Clark, Jim Clark, and Kristi (Ben) Meyer, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Bonnie Taylor, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Gerald passed away on February 24, 2024, at his home in Herington. He was preceded in death by his parents, &nbsp;his brother Charles Rindt, sister-in-law Eleanor Rindt, and brother-in-law Dennis Taylor. A graveside service with be held at St. Johns Cemetery, west of White City, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 am, where Gerald will be laid to rest. All are welcome to attend.

Kaylee Jo Evans November 4, 1991 ~ February 21, 2024

In loving memory of Kaylee Jo Evans, who was born on November 4, 1991, in Salina, Kansas, and tragically passed away on February 21, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

Kaylee Jo was the beloved daughter of Melvin Evans and Darbi Shields.

She was preceded in death by her dear grandfathers, Daniel Evans and Butch Hulse, and cousin April Martinez.

Kaylee Jo leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

She is survived by the father of her children, Hoyatte Harris, and their precious children, Hayden Harris, and Chloe Jo Harris. Kaylee Jo is also survived by her siblings: sister Brittany Evans, brother Jesse Wassenberg, brother Mikey Hurt, brother Audie Evans, and sister Tessa Evans. In addition to her immediate family, Kaylee Jo is mourned by her grandparents, Devin Thomas, Debbie Thomas, Nancy Evans, and Rosemary Evans. She is also survived by numerous extended and blended family members who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

A private funeral service will be held to honor and remember Kaylee Jo Evans, whose gentle spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she shared so generously during her time on earth.

Stephanie Lou Doubrava, 71, passed away February 24, 2024, in Ellsworth,&nbsp;Kansas. She was born on January 27, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas and was welcomed home to Don and Virginia (Britton) Small. She married Craig Doubrava on August 3, 1972, in Wichita.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Craig Doubrava of Ellsworth; daughter Amy Callahan (Eric) of Ellsworth; daughter Angie Froese (Jerry) of Ellsworth; brother, Donovan “Britt” Small (Rita) of Colorado; grandchildren Jessica Mackey, Chance Mackey, Cody Bourbon,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Chase Bourbon; and great-grandchildren,&nbsp;Layla&nbsp;and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her&nbsp;parents; and grandson, Timmy Mackey.

Stephanie loved to garden and to spend time with her husband and family. She will be greatly missed.

Frank W. Kroboth, 74, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Wichita, KS. He was born November 17, 1949, in Ellsworth, KS, to Raymond and Frances (Kratky) Kroboth. Frank was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth County where he pursued a career as a farmer and stockman. He was a devout member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. On July 14, 2000, he married Lori Potts in Emporia, KS.

Frank is survived by his wife, Lori, of Wilson; his son, Dalton, of Emporia; his daughter, Cassidy Kroboth, of Wichita; his sisters, Patricia Urban (Jim) of Salina, KS and Rita Brummer (Graig) of Topeka, KS; nieces, Amanda Brummer and Julia Wiebler (Austin) of Topeka; and nephews, Steven Urban and Kevin Urban of Salina and Matthew Brummer of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Kroboth.

Visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m., and a vigil and rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, followed by burial at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Thomas Moss Padgett, 82, of Abilene, KS, passed away at the Robert J. Dole VA Hospital on February 15, 2024.

Tom was born in Rome, Georgia on January 15, 1942, and graduated from South Gate High School in California, in 1960. Tom loved to bowl and was part of a junior bowling team where he would travel all over California. During his life he bowled a perfect game on multiple occasions, throughout the world. Tom was enlisted in the Army in 1964, where he served for 22 years in various jobs, including Material Control and Accounting Specialist, Military Police, and Subsistence Supply Specialist. He traveled all over the world. Tom was united in marriage to Linda McCarty on August 14, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nevada, before moving to Abilene, Kansas. After retiring from the Army, he spent 15 years as a security guard at the Eisenhower Presidential Library.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda E. Padgett.

He is survived by his son Michael (Trina) McCarty of Manhattan, KS, daughter Mary (Dennis) Van Dorn of McPherson, KS, grandchildren Ashton (Jeff) Reitz, Zachery Van Dorn, Brian (Allie) McCarty, Ethan (Kaylee) Van Dorn, Shannon McCarty and 5 great-grandchildren, Liliana Reitz, Averie Reitz, Chandler Reitz, Kadence Van Dorn, Halstyn McCarty.

There will be a service for both Tom and Linda Padgett at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetary (5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, Kansas) on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11 a.m.

Kaye Frances Eveleth (Murphy) April 30, 1940 ~ February 22, 2024

Kaye Frances Eveleth (Murphy) 83 of Abilene, left her earthly life on February 22, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. Kaye was born April 30, 1940 in Long Beach California to Warren and Melva (Fisher) Murphy. Kaye grew up in Dickinson County and attended Chapman High School graduating with the class of 1958.

Kaye met her husband to be on a blind date and following graduation from high school John Alvin Eveleth and Kaye were married on October 26, 1958. To this union three sons were born. Warren Kent Eveleth, Terry Lee Eveleth, and Perry Dee Eveleth who died at birth.

Kaye was active in the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and served several times as Worthy Grand Martha. For over 40 years as a member of the Daughters of the Nile serving as Queen in 1994. Kaye and John were enjoyed traveling for the ISIS Shrine for many years. Kaye and John were members of Emanuel Church in Abilene.

Kaye had worked for 17 years at Vacu-Blast, and 17 years at the Duckwall-Alco warehouse. She also filled in as receptionist and Waitress at Brown Memorial Home, and Frontier Estates as well as helping her son Kent at the Shamrock Cafe in Chapman.

Surviving Kaye are here sons, Warren “Kent” of Abilene and Terry Eveleth of McFarland, Kansas. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John and Infant son Perry.

Memorial services for Kaye will be held Thursday February 29th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Danner Funeral Home 501 N. Buckeye. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 preceding the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at the Abilene Cemetery. Lyle Dale Barker of Chapman Kansas, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024.

Lyle was born the 6th of 7 children on July 10, 1940, in Stilwell OK. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years in McPherson KS, where he was known as “Punch” by his family members. He graduated from Emporia State Teacher’s College where he met the love of his life, Trudy Seaton. They moved to California in 1964 where they were married and both started their teaching careers. Over the next several years, they started their family, moved to Colorado and then to St. Louis, where he worked for the Defense Mapping Agency as a cartographer. He was transferred to Washington D.C. in 1989 and finished his career there in 1996. After retirement, they moved back to Chapman to the farm.

Lyle loved to fish with his children and grandchildren and will always be remembered for his “cat” like reflexes. He loved to play cards with his friends at the Senior Center and was known for “shooting the moon”. He served on the board of the Chapman Senior Center and was also a board member of the Chapman Lions Club. He was also an active member of Chapman Methodist Church.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Trudy (Seaton) Barker, a daughter Rachel Thrash (Thad), a son Gregory Barker (Lesa) and a son Bradley (Lea), seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 2 brothers, Vernon and Bob and a sister, Peggy Brower. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Rose (Casebeer) Barker, and 3 brothers, Raymond, George and Gene.

Memorial Services for Lyle will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Chapman First United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow at the Rinehart Cemetery, rural Chapman. DuWayne’s life began on April 8, 1940, in Newton. He was the son of Alfred and Hedwig (Busenitz) Wiebe. DuWayne attended school through 8th&nbsp;grade at Burns and graduated from Berean Academy. He attended Grace College as well. He was united in marriage to Myrial Bartel on August 25, 1962, in Drake, Saskatchewan. The couple made their home in Burn where DuWayne farmed the family farm. He was a member of the Emmaus Church and enjoyed family especially his 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His loving family includes his children Reg (Tiffany) Wiebe of El Dorado, Dawn (Chris) Blasdel of Wichita, Chad (Leanna) Wiebe of Kiev Ukraine, and Carol ( Bert) Warren of Des Moines, IA; siblings Evangeline ( Sam) Roth, Ted (Nancy) Wiebe, Delores Ames, Bernice ( Joel) Penner, Kerwin (Jan) Wiebe, and Maxine (Brad) Unruh; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;DuWayne went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday February 26, 2024, at Regent Park Rehabilitation in Wichita. Larry Don Spear was born July 11, 1936, in Lincoln County, the youngest child of Frank and Alta (Titsworth) Spear. He departed this life on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 87.

Larry was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Lincoln County. In June 1955, he married Wilma Jean “Jeanie” Ryan and to the union, three sons; Steve, Mike and Brad were born and raised on the family farm Northwest of Lincoln.

Farm life was the best life for Larry. He spent the majority of his days tending to the land and sharing his knowledge of farming practices as well as a solid work ethic with his family. He never missed a day of work, and even up until his final weeks, he was always busy, which kept his mind sharp and his body mobile.

When work was finished, Larry, known by “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was known to enjoy an afternoon of fishing, family time at the lake, a solid game of cards, a piece of homemade pie (or two if Sue allowed him) and always…a well deserved nap!

After the loss of his wife of 48 years, Jeanie, Larry met Virginia “Sue” Dean and the couple wed in February of 2005. Larry and Sue were well-known on area dance floors and spent many hours kicking up their heels at Jolly-Mixer dances. Their love of dancing also blessed them with many friendships throughout the years.

Larry was a believer of Christ and never missed an opportunity to share the Word of the Lord. While he will be deeply missed by his family, he can now rest in the eternal glory of his heavenly home.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty “Jean” Markley and Shirley Phillips; wife Jeanie Spear; and son Brad Spear.

Left to celebrate Larry’s life and legacy include his wife Sue; sons, Steve (Jill) Spear and Mike (Lori) Spear; daughter-in-law Diane Spear; grandchildren, Ryan (Lori) Spear, Jared (Lisa) Spear, Corey (Kacy) Spear, Rachael Spear, Adam Spear and Jesse Spear; great-grandchildren, Aziah, Kaydence, Teryn, Axl and Stryker.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural Lincoln.

Kim Michelle Lake October 18, 1959 ~ February 22, 2024

Kim Michelle Lake of Abilene, KS died February 22, 2024, from complications of Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Kim was born on October 18, 1959, in Abilene, KS to Bernice (Barlow) Davis Abbott. Kim was adopted by Robert Davis and his loving family after the union of Robert and Bernice.

Kim lived her entire life in Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School in 1977. Kim attended Cloud Community College.

On July 19, 1980, Kim married James Ray Lake. Jim and Kim had two children, Jeremy Ryan Lake and Jessica Robin Lake. The couple were married for 43 years.

Kim worked for Duckwall ALCO for 34 years until its closing in 2015. In 2015, Kim started working remotely for Orscheln Farm and Home as a PC Technician. Kim made many lifelong friends while working. She medically retired on April 29, 2022.

Kim enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching the Kansas City Chiefs with Jim’s grandma, Leona Stammeyer, listening to Elvis tunes, fishing at Milford Lake, spending time with her brothers and sisters and playing with her children and grandchildren.

Kim and Jessica had grand adventures across the US; diamond mining, hot air ballooning, gambling in Las Vegas, shopping at the US’s largest mall, sampling teas at Celestial Seasonings, emerald and ruby mining in the Carolina’s, attending renaissance festivals, whitewater rafting, touring national parks, camping and horseback riding in the Colorado mountains, viewing movies, dinner theaters, Broadway plays, and zoo trips.

Kim is survived by husband Jim; daughter Jessica; three grandchildren; Brianna Lake , Kohen Luchsinger, and Bryce Dickerman and three great-granddaughters; Lavaeh Burdine, Palmer and Aurora Moffith; siblings; Chris (Roxie) Davis of Salina KS, Lisa (Al) Wal of Chino Valley AZ, Curt (Lori) Davis of Delphos KS and Julie (Dean) Gier of Wichita KS; Mother-in-law Vivian Lake, sister-in-law Kimberly Lake, many loved family members, and Shaun the beloved family dog.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Allen Abbott; grandparents OC and Elma Barlow &amp; Darrell and Arlene Davis; son, Jeremy; brother, Mark A. Davis; father-in-law, James E. Lake; infant nephew, Jacob Driver; and several aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice and may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410, but Kim would have preferred you to enjoy a movie, picnic or playdate with your children or grandchildren in her memory.

Michael’s life began on September 10, 1958, in El Dorado. He was the son of Richard and Nadine (Paige) Adams. Michael is a 1977 graduate of El Dorado High School. He recently retired from Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital where he worked in housekeeping for 22 years. Mike was enjoying his retirement, talking to family and friends, and listening to country music. He is survived by his life partner Vikki Rountree of Potwin; children Jessica (Sam Moore) Rountree and Henry (Angel) Rountree; grandchildren Annie and Zack; his siblings Gale Morgan, Richard Morgan, and Raymond “Skip” Morgan; nieces and families Casi Morgan, Asta Morgan, Amber Morgan, and Wendi Morgan. Michael passed away at his home on Friday February 23, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers James (Tuck) Morgan and twin Patrick Adams. Ronald "Ron" H. DeVolder, 81, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024. Ron was born June 16, 1942 to Victor A. and Rachel A. (Hemeryck) DeVolder in Detroit, MI.&nbsp; He graduated from Edwin C. Denby High School in 1959. He married Jacquelyn P. (Laquerre) in 1964.&nbsp; Ron was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp; Ron is survived by Jacquelyn DeVolder; sons, James DeVolder, Mark DeVolder, Eric DeVolder, and Jeffrey DeVolder; brother, Norman DeVolder; and 10 grandchildren.

He worked his entire career for the same company, moving up through the ranks and retired from Cashco, Inc in 2009.

Ron had a great sense of humor and laugh.&nbsp; Always on the ready to crack a witty joke whenever he could. He coached his kids' sports teams even though he wasn't an experienced coach.&nbsp; He enjoyed having his kids and grandkids at the house.&nbsp; He loved to do woodworking and built many projects for gifts and around the house.&nbsp; He also loved to golf with his sons and friends.&nbsp; He loved to watch his DVD set of Everyone Loves Raymond.&nbsp; He really lit up when he saw a bag of M &amp; M's. &nbsp;

No services as cremation was chosen and his ashes will be placed privately at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.&nbsp; Memorials are to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and sent in care of the mortuary.&nbsp;

Virginia Dennison Garrelts, age 101, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.&nbsp; She was born in Salina Dec. 8, 1922, the daughter of Orval and Alma (Zeh) Dennison, and was a lifelong resident.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Kelly (Robert), Salina, Nancy Garrelts, Johns Creek, Ga.; four grandchildren, Christopher Ruegsegger (Sandra), Carissa Liebowitz (Adam), Tasha Campbell (Timothy), and Forrest Teske; two great grandchildren, Rhett and Charlotte Campbell. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 2003; a daughter, Kathy Teske in 1997; her parents; a sister, Joan Dennison Smith; 4 brothers, Philip, Robert, Richard, and William.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. A &nbsp;graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2024 at Roselawn.&nbsp; Memorials may be made to the church.&nbsp; Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Roger Lee Beach, a devoted and compassionate man, passed away on February 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Born on June 11, 1948, in Salina, KS, Roger was the second child of Dale Mardell Beach and Lorraine Beatrice Bolby.

Roger's life was marked by bravery and service, as he served with the 101st Airborne Division Combat in Vietnam. His valor was recognized with prestigious honors including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and more. Despite the challenges he faced, Roger remained a pillar of strength and resilience.

In his personal life, Roger found joy in genealogy and family history, a passion that reflected his deep-rooted connection to his heritage. He shared a special bond with his spouse, Sharon, and her daughters, Lisa, Layla, and Lori, whom he adored as his own. His presence brought warmth and love to their lives, leaving an indelible mark on each of them.

Known for his gentle demeanor and caring nature, Roger was a beloved figure in his community and could often be seen riding around Salina on his Harley. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, embodying the true spirit of generosity. His garden, where he nurtured vegetables and crafted delicious salsa from his homegrown tomatoes, was a testament to his nurturing soul.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorraine and Dale, brother Lawrence, brother-in-law Charlie, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by his spouse Sharon, sister Linda, daughters Lisa Button (Tom), Layla Garr (Jason), and Lora Simmons, his granddaughters Eryn (Jared) and Emalie Hassler, Katy Fink (Peyton), Tori Hoffman, Evelyn and Stella Fitzgerald, nieces Andrea Swenson (Steve), Kim Beach, nephew Chip Armstrong (Justin), great nieces Danielle Shelton, Ashley Swenson, Ashlynn Armstrong, and by his great grandson Syer Thompson, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Roger's legacy lives on through the memories he created and the hearts he touched. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his kind spirit and loving soul continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, February 26, at Ryan Mortuary, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Salina Animal Services, care of Ryan Mortuary.

Wesley Charles DePoy, 70, of Beverly, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Kenwood View Health &amp; Rehab Center in Salina, Kansas.

He was born on November 6, 1953 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Maurice and Rosella Fischer DePoy. Wesley was raised in the Cawker City area where he graduated from high school in 1971.

He continued to live in Cawker City and married Cynthia Kay Anderson on September 21, 1995 in Salina. Shortly after being married they moved to Beverly.

Wesley was a Master Welder and worked for several businesses through the years. Having grown up around the lake at Cawker City, Wesley always enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Cindy of the home; sons Wesley DePoy, II of Beloit, Shawn DePoy of Tipton, Bryce DePoy of Down; daughter Darcell Nelson of Iola; brothers Dan and Allen of Cawker City; Carl Suter of Beloit; six grandchildren ; and seven great grandchildren.

Wesley is preceded in death by his parents; brother Joe DePoy; and sister Carla Doxson.&nbsp;

Graveside service to be held on March 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cawker City Cemetery, Cawker City, Kansas.&nbsp;

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

Joyce Gorton February 24, 1945 ~ February 20, 2024

Joyce Gorton, age 78, died at her home with a heart filled with gratitude and love on February 20, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Ellsworth, Kansas, on February 24, 1945 to Henry (Hank) Hoffman and Helen (Branda) Hoffman.

Joyce attended grade school and graduated from Kanopolis High School in 1963. She continued her education at Kansas Wesleyan and graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1967. She taught school in Wilson and Hays, Kansas, before moving back to Salina and working as head of the accounting department at Grain Belt Supply before retiring in 2006 after 30 years.

Joyce's love of music started at early age. At age 14 Joyce begin playing for the Kanopolis United Methodist church. She continued to take piano lessons her entire life from individual instructors to college professors at Ft. Hays State, Bethany, and most recently Kansas Wesleyan. She also traveled to Old Bennington, Vermont, each summer for a week long piano camp. Joyce played many years at University Methodist with Harry Huber, she also played at Trinity United Methodist, Sunrise Presbyterian, Russell United Methodist, Brookville United Methodist, Christ Cathedral and most recently at 1st United Methodist in Salina. She started there in October of 2020. The piano was her love.&nbsp;She enjoyed classical and sacred music and practiced daily. Her real love was accompanying the 1st United Methodist Choir and playing with organist Julie Tuttle. She was part of a group of pianist that met periodically from around the country on Zoom to share their talents. Joyce and Carolyn Hofer did an almost annual Christmas "house concert" at the Gorton home and often played at other venues together. Joyce, Carolyn and 3 other ladies led a successful campaign to purchase 2 new grand pianos for Kansas Wesleyan.

Joyce and Gordon met on a dating site, Yahoo Personals, in October of 2004. Joyce was the only person Gordon contacted. They soon discovered they had graduated from KWU together, knew each other but didn't date. They married in June of 2005. Gordon lived in Russell at the time and for a year they had an "interstate" marriage. They built a home in Russell together and enjoyed the hours of planting and landscaping. Joyce had a "green thumb" and loved planting, watching the seed grow and mature into a beautiful flower or garden vegetable. Their home is surrounded by flowers. They decided to move back to Salina in 2011 as Gordon was President of the alumni at KWU and they were in town often for alumni functions as well as enjoying the Salina Symphony and Theatre Salina performances. Gordon and Joyce both shared a love of cats and you will find Macro and Valentine running the house now. Joyce served as KWU Auxiliary Secretary/Treasurer, volunteer at Prairie Land Market and Salina Shares, was also on the Board of Directors of Tall Grass Women's retreat at Matfield Green. Joyce supported several students attending an Indian School in South Dakota and belonged to several national conservation and environmental groups. Joyce and Gordon spent hours on summer evenings sitting on their screened porch watching birds, squirrels, deer come to their feeders. Joyce was always grateful God had allowed her to watch another sunset. Last Fall Joyce received the KWU Alumni Service award for the year 2023! Gordon and Joyce share a common love for KWU as Gordon received the same award in 2019.

Joyce was buried in a private service. She chose a "natural or green" burial at the Heart Land Prairie Cemetery just west of Niles on the Niles Road. Like our forefathers her grave will become part of the prairie.

Joyce will be missed by many. Her engaging smile and aura brightened their day. Let her "little light" shine through you.

Joyce is survived by her husband Gordon of the home in Salina, a sister Eloise Ray of Boise, Idaho, brother Jeff Hoffman and wife Jody of Kanopolis, cousin David Branda of Goodland, her piano duet partner Carolyn Hofer, and many friends.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM in the First United Methodist Church; 122 N. 8th, Salina, KS 67401. Memorials can be sent to the music ministry at First United Methodist Church; 122 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Royanne (Young) Larson March 16, 1938 ~ February 21, 2024

Royanne Larson&nbsp;was born on March 16, 1938, and passed away on February 21, 2024. She was born in Salina, the daughter of Wayne and Ailene Young. She was the oldest of 14 children.

Royanne and Harold (deceased) were married for 64 years. Together they have six children: Shelly, Julie, Cindy, Mike (deceased), Joe (deceased) and Dawn. She has 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family; she loved following her kids and grandkids around wherever they lived and traveled.

She worked as a bank teller, a clerk at the Salina Auto Auction, and was The Best Mom Ever. She taught Julie how to be an accountant. Royanne spent many years being an office manager for her sons, Joe and Mike, and her grandson Evan. She was always eager to assist her family with any and all paperwork; she kept everything together behind the scenes. She thought that she was the most boring person in the room, but yet everyone wanted to be around her.

Royanne was an avid reader of suspense and mystery novels. She always read the last few pages of every book before she even started the book.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 5-7pm at Ryan Mortuary. Services will be Monday, February 26, at 10:00 am, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.
