Doris M. Cole, 88, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 21, 1935, in Westminster, England, to Richard and Doris (Warner) Hornsby. Doris lived a life filled with love, strength, and devotion.

On July 25, 1953, Doris married Robert Cole in Westminster, England. Doris’s legacy continues through her sons, Paul, Keith (Pam), Frank (Sandy), and James (Julie); her daughter, Marilyn (Cory) Connelly; and her grandchildren: Rich (Beth), Jeremiaha, lovingly known as Toad (Amy), David, Steven (Carly), Brian, Tracee (Jeff) Powell, Cassee, Anna (Adam) Knepper, and Trevor. She was also the proud great-grandmother of 15, and she cherished her special friend, Pat LaOrange, and stepson, Trace (Brenda) LaOrange.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Doris Hornsby; her husband, Robert; her son, William; her stepson, Michael LaOrange; her grandson, Michael; her great-grandson, Ethan; and her daughter-in-law, Candy.

Doris dedicated her career to Federal-Mogul, Presbyterian Manor, and Asbury/Salina Regional Hospital, where her dedication and warmth left a lasting impact. In retirement, she cherished summers at the Lake of the Ozarks. Known for her kind heart, unwavering resilience, and deep love for those around her, Doris was a pillar of strength and compassion to all who knew her.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 20 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis.&nbsp; Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 21 at the funeral home.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery. Kathy Lee Frohardt (Manbeck) passed away November 11th, 2024 at the Good Shepard Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas surrounded by her children and her sister.

Kathy was born January 31, 1945 in Salina, Kansas to Chuck and Lois Manbeck. Kathy attended elementary school in Milford, Kansas. The family later moved to Chapman where she attended junior hgh school and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School with the class of 1963.

On October 4th, 1964 Kathy married the love of her life James (Jim) Frohardt. Jim and Kathy lived in Chapman where she was a home maker and owned and operated Chapman Florist. She was a proud mom of 2 children her daughter Tina and son Shawn and 2 grandsons Joel and Trent Jordan.

Kathy could be found attending sporting events or music programs that her children or grandchildren or nieces or nephews participated in, or watching K-State or Kansas City Chiefs football. Kathy was also involved in the Chapman area Preservation Society.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Tina Frohardt and son Shawn Frohardt both of Chapman. Her 4-legged son Riley, her grandsons Joel Jordan of Junction City, Kansas and Trent Jordan (Steph) of rural Chapman and her sister Vicki Rehm (Dean) of Abilene, and half-sister Denise Weeks of Blue Eye MO. Niece Stacia Wiley(Darin) of Chapman, Chad Livingston (Michelle) Abilene, Brian Livingston (Angie) of Olathe and great nieces and nephews Tori and Jaxon Foy, Kathleen Livingston.

Kathy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years James Frohardt, her parents Chuck and Lois Manbeck and her in laws Lavern and Myrtle Frohardt.

Hayden George Ballou, 15, of Carlton, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 10th, at St. Louis Children Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Hayden was born in Salina, Kansas on July 20, 2009, a son of Ashley Nicole (Russell) and William Hayden Ballou.

Hayden lived his life in a way we should all strive for. He cared deeply for others. Seen the good in every situation and person. Always gave his best efforts and didn't know the word give up.

Hayden's world revolved around his cancer journey. But he never let that stop him. He loved the great outdoors. He hunted anything that moved. If it wasn't hunting season, it was fishing season. He also enjoyed camping, golf, disc golf, and corn hole. Anything really that got him outdoors.

Hayden loved his family, friends, and his dog Hunter above all else. He had a soft spot for kids younger than him. It did not matter how badly he was hurting or how sick he was. He was always worried about others and put them before himself. He had a fierce competitive side, but always knew when to hold back to give others a sporting chance. He encouraged everyone to do their best and loved seeing others succeed even if they did better than him.

Hayden truly was a model of what living life to the fullest looked like. He worked hard, played hard, and loved hard. He had very few complaints. He was always just a genuinely happy, loving, and peaceful person.

May we all cherish the very short time we got on this earth with Hayden. May we let his memory remind us to do better and be better. When life gets tough remember Hayden's strength and positivity. He is a light in everyone's life that met him.

Survivors include his parents, Ashley and William Ballou and three sisters, Payton Ballou, Aspen Ballou, Ellason Ballou, all of Carlton, Kansas.

Hayden is also survived by his grandparents, Karlene and Steve Lawson, Mike Russell, Connie and Cody Rogers, Dave Ballou; great grandparents, Lila Neber, Hayden and Georgana Ballou; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Helen "Marie" Pritchard, 64, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 13th, at Salina Regional Health Center, in Salina, Kansas.

Marie was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on December 30, 1959, to Helen G (Schartz) and James C Wandel.

She graduated from Buhler High School and later married David Pritchard on June 11, 1977 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Marie continuously brought joy into everyone’s life and had a heart of gold. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids and was tremendously proud of each and every one of them.

Survivors include her husband, David Pritchard; and two daughters, Valeen Gariepy (Kyle), and Janelle Marie Schartz.

She is also survived by her grandchild, Ciera Gariepy; and four great grandchildren, Oakley Gariepy, Daxe Rogers, Riverlynn Gariepy, and Raelynn Hicks.

Marie is preceded in death by her grandchild, Kaden Gariepy, and parents.

Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life will be held from 1:00 - 3:00pm, Friday, November 15, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Helen "Marie" Pritchard

Gene Anthony Blochlinger, age 77, entered into rest on November 12, 2024, at the Sunset Nursing Home, in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on August 3, 1947, to Paul and Lela (Istas) Blochlinger.

Gene was a 1965 graduate of Minneapolis High School, Minneapolis, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He served in the United States Army National Guard and reached the rank of SSG.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was honorably discharged.

On January 7, 1967, he married Judy Kay Householter at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas.

He went on to become a Barber for 17 years, after graduating from the Old Town Barber College.

He was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and the 4th&nbsp;Degree Knights of Columbus.

Gene also worked for Associated Milk Producers Inc., Mid-America Dairymen Inc., which eventually were bought out by Dairy Farmers of America for 25 plus years before retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their family had previously lived in Hillsboro, Seneca before moving to Concordia in 2018.

He is survived by his wife Judy Blochlinger, Concordia, KS; three sons, Scott Blochlinger, Gypsum, KS; Darren Blochlinger (Ann), Millersberg, OH; Blake Blochlinger, Denton, TX; a daughter, Jaime Brennan (Brian), Poolesville, MD; brother, Kevin Blochlinger (Linda), Minneapolis, KS; three sisters; sister-in-law, Shelly Anderson (Jeff), McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lela, a brother, Randy Blochlinger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas, with Fr. Gene Anthony Blochlinger

Larry L. Steppe was born March 5, 1936 in Junction City, Kansas the son of Albert F. and Janice (Davison) Steppe. He passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the Chapman Valley Manor Nursing Home in Chapman.

Larry Graduated from the Dickinson County Community High School in 1955 and then attended the University of Kansas for two years.

Larry served in the United States Navy from 1957–1961 and then worked for the Junction City Police Department from 1961-1962. He then worked for Firestone and went back to the police force from 1963-1966. Following that, Larry worked civil service at Ft. Riley until retiring in 1995.

Larry loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and photography.

On February 17, 1979 he was united in marriage to Barbara (Graves) Burgett in Chapman. She passed away January 5, 2013. He is survived by his loving step children who looked after him and loved him very much. His step sons Herbert Burgett and his wife Andra Kaye of Chapman, Kansas, Michael Burgett and his companion Joleen Rankin of Abilene, Kansas, step daughter Gina (Burgett) Mitchell and her husband Kevin of Junction City, Kansas, son Larry Michael Steppe of Versailles, Missouri, brother Gary Steppe (Karen) of Kansas City, sister Barbara Blythe (Steve) of Junction City, Kansas, five grandsons, and seven great grandchildren. Besides his wife, Larry is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Good Hope Cemetery, Sage Road Chapman, Kansas with Pastor Darren Baker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Chapman American Legion Post 240. She passed away January 5, 2013. He is survived by his loving step children who looked after him and loved him very much. His step sons Herbert Burgett and his wife Andra Kaye of Chapman, Kansas, Michael Burgett and his companion Joleen Rankin of Abilene, Kansas, step daughter Gina (Burgett) Mitchell and her husband Kevin of Junction City, Kansas, son Larry Michael Steppe of Versailles, Missouri, brother Gary Steppe (Karen) of Kansas City, sister Barbara Blythe (Steve) of Junction City, Kansas, five grandsons, and seven great grandchildren. Besides his wife, Larry is preceded in death by his parents.Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Good Hope Cemetery, Sage Road Chapman, Kansas with Pastor Darren Baker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Chapman American Legion Post 240. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Sunday at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Patricia Lee Newsome, 83, passed away November 9, 2024 at Pinnacle Park in Salina. &nbsp;She was born September 9, 1941 to Earl M. Renken and G. Judy (Kruse) Renken in Beloit, Kansas.

She accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of 16 and after graduating high school, Pat married David T. &nbsp;Newsome, September 20,1959. &nbsp;She then attended college for 5 years. &nbsp;She taught at the Grace Baptist Christian School and taught Sunday School for 30 years. She enjoyed Christian music and sang in the choir. &nbsp;She also worked for the SRS Agency on Aging. She loved helping people and working with children.

Pat also enjoyed gardening, reading, history, genealogy, quilting and fancy work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert E. Renken; daughter, Cheri L Mai; and two sisters-in-law; Julia Benson (Floyd) and Yevonne Murphy.

She is survived by her son, David A. Newsome (Deborah Douglas) of Canada; daughter, Crystal H. Cason (Allen) of New York City; sisters, Debra Hemmy of Lawrence, Kansas and Beverly L. Payne of Florida; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be the hour before the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 all at Faith Baptist Church, 639 Max Ave. A graveside service will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Those attending are invited to join the family for lunch at the Church. &nbsp;

Patricia Lee (Renken) Newsome

Alma Elizabeth (Simons) Gordon, 100, died peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Hesston, Kansas.

Alma was born on August 14, 1924, in Sparks, Nebraska, the fourth out of nine children born to Joseph and Elizabeth Mae (Hayford) Simons. She grew up in Nebraska and South Dakota.Alma married Charles Patrick Marshall on June 17, 1942, in Nenzel, Nebraska. Together they had seven children, Carmelita, Marie, Pat, Bill, Martha, Patricia, and Mike. Charles passed away in 1957 at the early age of 43, leaving Alma to raise her six children.

During the Vietnam War Alma helped with the war effort by making bombs and shells at an ammunition depot in Grand Island, Nebraska. After the war ended Alma would move to Hesston, Kansas, where she would find work as an A Machinist at Hay &amp; Forge (now known as AGCO). &nbsp;After several years Alma returned to Neligh, Nebraska, where she would open and own a restaurant. Through this restaurant she would meet Willis Gordon, and in January of 1979, the couple was united in marriage. 

They shared 12 years before Willis passed away in August of 1991.Alma enjoyed crocheting afghans, placemats, tea cup holders and giving them as gifts to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. During the warm seasons she could be found planting and tending to flowers in her garden, though in the 70’s she did have an Easter lily make an appearance through the snow. While she enjoyed many activities and things, the greatest joy in Alma’s life was time spent with her family. They were her whole world.In 2012 Alma moved to Salina, Kansas, to be closer to family. During the pandemic she moved into Schowalter Villa.

Alma Elizabeth (Simons) Gordon, 100

Kenneth E. Collins, 87, of Abilene, passed away on October 31, 2024. Kenneth was born on June 7, 1937, to Earl and Lois (Gier) Collins in a barn in Sand Springs, Kansas. Growing up in Abilene, Kenneth attended Abilene schools and graduated from Abilene High School in 1955.

On June 15, 1958, he married the love of his life, Arden Habacker, and together they shared over 50 years of marriage, raising two children, Kim and Steve. Kenneth built a fulfilling career as a technical illustrator with E-Systems, where he worked with dedication until his retirement. He was a member of the Abilene Lions Club, serving his community with pride.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter Kim Krewson and her husband, Scot; three grandchildren: Sara Baier and husband, Alan; Sadi Krewson; and Spencer Krewson; three great grandchildren: Braydon Baier, Bryer Baier, and Alice Baier; and his sister, Maxine Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Arden, his son Steve Collins, and his siblings Jerry Collins and Nell Jean Keller.

Kenneth’s life will be remembered for his warmth, hard work, and commitment to family and community. His legacy lives on through the love he gave to his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Celebration of life will be November 15th @11:00am at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with interment following at the Abilene City Cemetery.

Kenneth E Collins

Robert Wright Robson, 97 passed away November 2, 2024 at Village Manor in Abilene, Kansas. He was the son of Harry A. Robson and Leila I Wright. He was born December 21, 1926 in Abilene, Kansas. 

He attended Abilene schools and graduated High School at AHS in 1944. He joined the Navy and was a WWII veteran where he was stationed in Guam. He married the lovely Anne Louise Robinson on December 22, 1949. 

He graduated from Kansas State University in 1951 where he played basketball for the Wildcats. After returning to Abilene, he taught Algebra at Abilene High School then worked for his father who founded Robson Oil in 1924. He later took over Robson Oil until he retired and handed over the business to his son, Pat. 

He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends to many destinations throughout the years. He served on the Abilene School Board, was a member of the Lion’s Club, The Kansas Oil Marketers Association, The First Presbyterian Church, and The Abilene Country Club Board. He became a pilot in the late 1970’s and had a passion for flying and playing golf. He was an icon in the Abilene community and always brought a smile and laughter to everyone he encountered. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne Robson, parents Harry and Leila Robson, his son, Mike Robson, and his daughter in law Anna Robson. 

Survivors include sister Virginia Anderson (Lyle) of Huntley, Illinois, son Patrick Robson (Sue) of Abilene, granddaughters Carey Jones (Derek) of Abilene, Natalie Lackey (Ryan) of Manhattan, KS, Emily Nusser (Justin) of St. John, KS, and Sally Robson of Abilene. Great grandchildren Kenlee Jones, Caroline Lackey, Brooke Lackey, Jameson Nusser, and Bailey Nusser. 

There will be a private family graveside service at Abilene City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dickinson County Community Foundation, St. Andrew’s School, and Meals on Wheels.

Robert W "Bob" Robson

Dwight LaVerne Meuli, age 95 of rural Abilene passed away at his home surrounded by his family on November 2, 2024. He was born May 4, 1929, in rural Elmo, Kansas, the son of Harvey and Myrtle (Hoffman) Meuli. He grew up in Dickinson County and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman, Kansas with the class of 1947. On May 31, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marvel Sandow at New Basel Evangelical and Reformed Church. Dwight farmed south of Abilene and owned Meuli Inc, a dirt contracting business, building ponds, terraces, and waterways.

Dwight served as Treasurer of the Turkey Creek Watershed Board for many years, served on the Navarre CO-OP Board, was a member of the New Basel Church and served in numerous capacities on the church counsel, served on the funeral committee, always sang in the choir, and for many years sang in a male quartet.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife Marvel of the home, his daughter Lisa Berggren and son-in-law Tim of rural Abilene, two granddaughters, Shelby Berggren and her fiancé Ryan Zoglmann of Conway Springs, Kansas and Harlie Berggren of Manhattan, Kansas, and two great grandchildren, Laitynn Kill and Cohen Zoglmann. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elwin Meuli and Gene Meuli, and his sister Carrol Funston.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, November 7, 2024, at New Basel Church, 1075 1100 Avenue, Abilene, Kansas and burial will follow at the New Basel Cemetery. Dwight LaVerne Meuli

Patricia Louise “Johnson” Phelps, 86, Augusta, KS passed away on November 2, 2024.

Patricia “Pat” Phelps was born in Abilene, Kansas on March 17, 1938 (St. Patrick’s Day). Her family lived in Wichita, Garden City, Plainville, and Great Bend before settling down in Larned, Kansas. Pat worked for Vin’s Pharmacy as a soda jerk and Dairy Queen before graduating from Larned High School. Pat then became employed as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Larned. She transferred to Hays and then to Salina as a Telephone Service Representative. She met Larry Phelps, who also worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Repairman in Abilene. They were married on February 2, 1963, and Pat transferred to Abilene to work in the phone company’s business office. They had two children, Kelly and Jay. Kelly married Scott Groom, and they have a daughter, Rebecca. Rebecca married Jacob Cantrell, and they have a daughter named Sawyer; they live in Augusta, Kansas. Jay married Carley Sederquist, and they have two daughters, Ashton and Paige, and one son, Cooper. They live in Highland Ranch, Colorado.

Pat retired after 30 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and went to work for the Dickinson Co Alcohol &amp; Other Drugs, Inc. as the office manager; she then worked for Hettenbach &amp; Langdon, CPA as an office clerk and for First National Bank in the loan department, only to retire again after 6 years.

Pat moved to Augusta, Kansas in the fall of 2011 after the passing of her husband Larry.

Pat loved being a wife and mother, and she loved to play golf with her husband or the ladies at the Augusta Country Club. Pat also loved traveling and being a part of the Shriners Median organization with Larry; she loved holidays and spending time with family. She was a devoted grandma known as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Pat was a breast cancer survivor and then fought Parkinson’s for 10 years, ultimately losing her battle in the end.

Pat is survived by her children, Kelly (Scott) Groom and Jay (Carley) Phelps; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Jacob) Cantrell, Ashton, Paige, and Cooper Phelps and her great-grandchild, Sawyer Cantrell; her brothers, Gary (Carolyn) Johnson, Jerry (Di) Johnson, Mike (Ruth) Johnson; and various nieces, nephews, as well as other family and friends.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband Larry Phelps, brother Ed Johnson, and his wife Deanna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Harry Hines Hospice. The family wishes to thank Senior Living Convenient Care (where she has lived for the past three years) and Harry Hines Hospice for the care at the end of her life.

Her family lived in Wichita, Garden City, Plainville, and Great Bend before settling down in Larned, Kansas. Pat worked for Vin’s Pharmacy as a soda jerk and Dairy Queen before graduating from Larned High School. Pat then became employed as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Larned. She transferred to Hays and then to Salina as a Telephone Service Representative. She met Larry Phelps, who also worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Repairman in Abilene. They were married on February 2, 1963, and Pat transferred to Abilene to work in the phone company’s business office. They had two children, Kelly and Jay. Kelly married Scott Groom, and they have a daughter, Rebecca. Rebecca married Jacob Cantrell, and they have a daughter named Sawyer; they live in Augusta, Kansas. Jay married Carley Sederquist, and they have two daughters, Ashton and Paige, and one son, Cooper. They live in Highland Ranch, Colorado.Pat retired after 30 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and went to work for the Dickinson Co Alcohol &amp; Other Drugs, Inc. as the office manager; she then worked for Hettenbach &amp; Langdon, CPA as an office clerk and for First National Bank in the loan department, only to retire again after 6 years.Pat moved to Augusta, Kansas in the fall of 2011 after the passing of her husband Larry.Pat loved being a wife and mother, and she loved to play golf with her husband or the ladies at the Augusta Country Club. Pat also loved traveling and being a part of the Shriners Median organization with Larry; she loved holidays and spending time with family. She was a devoted grandma known as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Pat was a breast cancer survivor and then fought Parkinson’s for 10 years, ultimately losing her battle in the end.Pat is survived by her children, Kelly (Scott) Groom and Jay (Carley) Phelps; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Jacob) Cantrell, Ashton, Paige, and Cooper Phelps and her great-grandchild, Sawyer Cantrell; her brothers, Gary (Carolyn) Johnson, Jerry (Di) Johnson, Mike (Ruth) Johnson; and various nieces, nephews, as well as other family and friends.Pat is preceded in death by her husband Larry Phelps, brother Ed Johnson, and his wife Deanna.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Harry Hines Hospice. Patricia Louise “Johnson” Phelps

Myron L. Lady passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at the Village Manor Nursing Home at the age of 95.

He was born April 2, 1929 at the rural Abilene family farm, the son of Cornelius and Frances (Lenhert) Lady.

Most of his life was spent in the Abilene area. He graduated from Chapman High School, attended Upland College in California graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and later furthered his education at Kansas State University and Emporia State University earning his Master's Degree.

While attending college in California he met and married Mary E. Gish of Upland, California on November 1, 1951. They were married for 52 years and from this union three children were born, Brian, Susan and James. Mary preceded him in death on April 5, 2003.

Myron taught elementary school for 35 years (one year at rural Chronister, two years at Navarre and the remainder at Talmage Elementary) and received a Master Teacher Award. After Mary's death, he continued to farm for a few years and volunteered at an adult assisted living facility in Pennsylvania for a year.

Myron accepted Christ as his Savior as a child and his faith was meaningful to him all his life. He was a lifetime member of the Brethren in Christ Church north of Abilene until recent years the Abilene Brethren in Christ Church. Faithfully he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and was on various boards and committees. Additionally, he served on the New Mexico Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission Board. Myron also was a representative from the Brethren in Christ denomination for the Regional Mennonite Central Committee and experiences on that board influenced his life regarding the needs of humanity.

Additionally, he served on the Dickinson County Historical Society board, a member of the Talmage Lions Club, the Retired Teachers Association, and was a hospital volunteer.

Myron loved to bicycle and the bike always went along with them while traveling. He participated in Bike Across Kansas five times and in recent years was seen riding his three wheeled bike in Abilene. Playing the piano (which he did as part of his devotions), canoeing, camping, and his love of reading (especially his Bible) were all lifelong interests. Traveling in the United States, Mexico, Turkey and Central America with Mary as well as Alaska, Africa, and the Panama Canal with other family members were all memorable trips.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, and sisters Martha Lady and Mary Olive Lady Bundy.

Myron is survived by his sister Ruth Ann Engle (John) of Maine, son Brian Lady (Joyce) of Abilene, daughter Susan Yiengst Kappes (Jim) of Atlanta, and son James Lady (Lisa) of Seattle. Grandchildren Josh Lady (Megan), David Lady (Katie), Trina Yarnall (Norm), Chad Yiengst (Mandy) and Andrea Kappes and great grandchildren Emery and Beckett Lady, Ike, Zach and Sam Lady, Luke and Ella Yarnall, Everett and Preston Yiengst, and Marley Kappes were all special to him. He is also survived by nieces Jenny and Susie Engle.

Visitation with family and friends will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Abilene Brethren in Christ Church at 2:00 with the memorial service following at 3:00. Officiating will be Pastors Matt Davis and Dale Engle. Internment will take place at the Union Cemetery following the service.

Mryon L. Lady

Yvonne A. Sellin passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She was born July 4, 1936 in Junction City, Kansas the daughter of Chester and Elsie (Steckel) Janke.

Yvonne received her bachelor’s degree in education and was a fourth grade teacher for Enterprise for 23 years before retiring. She also raised and sold puppies for thirty years and enjoyed watercolor painting.

On June 1, 1956 Yvonne was united in marriage to Wayne Sellin in Lyona. He passed away February 8, 2017.

Survivors include her son Jeff Sellin of Chapman, daughters Vicki Ussery (husband Ron) of Pleasanton, Texas, and Cindy Thyfault of Austin, Texas, brother Harlan Janke and his wife Peggy of Abilene, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and parents.

Services for Yvonne will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Lyona United Methodist Church in Lyona with Pastor Catherine Fitzgerald officiating. Her final resting place will be in the Lyona Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel. Yvonne A. Sellin

Joan Phillips passed away Tuesday November 5th. Joan was born April 6th, 1958, in Winchester, Kansas the daughter of Leo and Donna Cummings. Joan was a dedicated nurse for 30 years. She was a caring and selfless person offering support to others throughout her life.

Most recently Joan had served as the Librarian for the City of Enterprise Public Library. Her love for the children of the community became clear through the youth programs that she developed. She enjoyed reading, gardening, attending Church, writing down scripture and volunteering in the community. Joan especially loved to spend time with her Grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her mother, and her daughters Rachel Moss (Russell) Sarah Haybarker (Codi) and Libby Phillips and her sons Jedidiah Phillips (Rebekah) and Elijah Phillips as well as her brothers Dennis Cummings (Martha), Randall Cummings (Brenda) Patrick Cummings (Wanda) and her sisters Linda Gooch (Pat), Peggy Parker, and Nancy Botkins (Scott). Joan also is survived by fourteen grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her father and her sister Dee Dee Rule. Memorial services will be Monday November 11th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Abilene 7th and Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas. Jane Kay Brown “Kay” Brown

Max E. Peltier, age 74, of Concordia, KS passed away surrounded by family at his daughter’s home in Topeka, KS on&nbsp;Friday, November 8, 2024.&nbsp; He was born in Concordia, Kansas, on October 22, 1950, to Leo and Isabell (Schuetz) Peltier.

Max&nbsp;was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Concordia, Kansas.

He married LaDonna Breault on April 15, 1978.

Max&nbsp;was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.&nbsp; He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1142.&nbsp;

Max&nbsp;worked at Peltier Foundry since high school and was co-owner since 1981.&nbsp; He was also a local farmer in partnership with his two brothers, Dave and Jim Peltier.

Max&nbsp;loved to travel with his family and dear friends, especially on cruises.&nbsp; He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jayhawk basketball.&nbsp; He enjoyed farming and rarely had a conversation that didn’t involve a discussion of the weather.&nbsp;&nbsp;Max&nbsp;loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa.

Sylvia&nbsp;Lippe, 89 died November 9, 2024, in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on February 4, 1935, in Clay County, the daughter of Enos and LaVerne (Forsythe) Schooley.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sylvia was raised in the Clay Center community and was a graduate of the Class of 1953 from Clay Center High School. She married Howard&nbsp;Lippe&nbsp;on November 22, 1953.&nbsp;&nbsp;They made their home and farmed in Clay County.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sylvia worked in medical records at the Clay County Hospital until her retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;She played the organ and piano for the Morganville Methodist Church before transferring her membership to the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sylvia served as a girl scout leader for many years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law, Delores McMurtrie and Florene Robinson

Sylvia Lippe

Julie Renee Bolte, age 51, entered into rest Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. She was born on June 29, 1973, in Beloit, Kansas to Dennis and Norma (McElroy) Conn.&nbsp;

She was a 1991 graduate of Jewell High School, Jewell, Kansas. After high school, she attended Cloud County Community College for one year.&nbsp;

She married Francis Bolte on September 25, 1993, in Jewell, Kansas. To this union, two daughters were born, Jocelyn and Raelyn.&nbsp;

She was a member of the Jewell Methodist Church and attended the Randall Community Church. Julie worked for USD 279 Jewell/Randall as a cook until the time that the school closed in 2009. She then went to work for USD 426 Pike Valley as a cook and later a librarian/para where she cherished her time working with the students and staff for 15 years. She enjoyed attending ball games, playing the piano, farming, reading, and camping. Most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Julie is survived by her husband, Francis Bolte, Randall, Kansas; Daughters Jocelyn Ishler and husband Tim of Randall, and Raelyn Bolte of the home; Father Dennis Conn of Randall; Sisters Jennifer Flavin and husband Kelly of Formoso, and Jackie Cooper and husband Kade of Courtland; in-laws Lannis and Bonnie Bolte of Jewell; Norma (Tom) Schwerman, Laura (Ron) Weber, Phil Bolte, Mike (Becky) Bolte, Jane Jackson, Jim (Elisha) Bolte, and Judy (Gerald) Sekavec; nieces and nephews Michael, Brennan, Lauren and Jaren Flavin, Andrew and Kinley Cooper, Rachel Fath, Ryan Schwerman, Lisa Colson, and Logan Schwerman, Gayle Donaldson, Lucas and Linsey Bolte, Jennifer Shelton, Kris Allen, and Marc Bolte, Aaryn Jackson, Diedrick and Brandt Bolte, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma, Grandparents Gilbert and Ila McElroy, and Keith and Vesta Conn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 1-8 pm, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS. &nbsp;

A Celebration of Life service will be held, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Jewell Global Methodist Church, Jewell, Kansas with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Randall Cemetery, Randall, Kansas.

Julie Renee Bolte

Kathleen Bonelle Frisbie was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2024. &nbsp;

Kathleen was born December 13, 1936, in Harbor Beach, Michigan. &nbsp;She was the first of six daughters born to Hilbert and Florine Weiss. &nbsp;She grew up in Port Hope, Michigan, surrounded by family in the close-knit farming community. &nbsp;She attended and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Hope.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Kathleen attended Harbor Beach High School and graduated as Salutatorian with her high school sweetheart, Bruce G. Johnson. &nbsp;She went on to earn her RN license at Harper Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit. &nbsp;Following graduation, she married Bruce in 1958, and they lived near Wheaton, Illinois. As a member of Wheaton College ROTC, Bruce served in the US Army after their marriage, and Kathleen embraced the role of a military wife. &nbsp;Their first child, Bruce, was born in 1959, followed by Bryan and Colleen within the next three years. &nbsp;As the Vietnam War was beginning to unfold, Bruce was deployed and became Missing in Action in 1965. &nbsp;He remained MIA through the entirety of the war, and Kathleen and the children awaited word of the fate of their husband and father for 13 years. Kathleen faithfully, courageously, and selflessly raised her children in Salina, Kansas. She was on the founding board of the National League of Families and was at the forefront of seeking to bring Bruce and other MIA and POW servicemen home through influence in political and grassroots coalitions. &nbsp;She attended several meetings with key government officials in Washington, DC. During the Paris Peace Talks, she served as part of a delegation seeking to participate in discussions with Vietnamese officials in Paris, France. In 1978, Bruce was declared “Presumed Dead/Killed in Action.” &nbsp;No remains have ever been found. &nbsp;Two books have been written which chronicle in part Kathleen’s heroic efforts in seeking to account for and bring her husband and MIA/POW servicemen home: &nbsp;Waiting Wives by Donna Moreau and The League of Wives by Heath Hardage Lee. &nbsp;Additionally, the Bob Dole Institute of Politics in Lawrence, KS, featured Kathleen’s story through an entire exhibition, “Missing, Then Action: An Army Wife Speaks Out,” displayed there in 2022. &nbsp;Many of the historical articles and correspondence are now archived at the Institute.

After Lt. Col. Bruce Johnson was declared KIA, Kathleen and her family entered a new season of life. &nbsp;Kathleen met Robert R. Frisbie (Bob) of Salina, KS, and the two were married a year later. &nbsp;They were happily married for over 32 years until Bob passed away in 2011. &nbsp;

Kathleen moved from Salina to Freedom Village Senior Living in Holland, Michigan, in 2018, where she enjoyed spending time with her eldest son, Bruce, and his family. &nbsp;Kathleen’s life was undergirded and sustained by a deep, abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. &nbsp;She taught and participated in Bible studies for many years. &nbsp;Bruce, Bryan, and Colleen all testify that they are comforted by the belief that their mother, Kathleen, was greeted in Heaven with the words, “Well done!”

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Colleen Weiss. &nbsp;She is survived by her four other sisters: &nbsp;Janice Reghi, Pauline (Polly) Zmudka, Gayle Grant, and Naomi Leach. &nbsp;Her children are Bruce and Margie Johnson of Holland, Michigan; Bryan and Rebecca Johnson of McKinney, Texas; and Colleen and Kent Nunn of Highland Village, Texas. &nbsp;In addition to her children, Kathleen has ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;A memorial service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, KS, on Friday, November 15, at 11 a.m. It will be followed by a graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery, 1920 E. Crawford St., and a lunch reception at First Southern Baptist Church. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; If desired, memorial gifts may be given in Kathleen’s honor to Higher Ground at Lake Louise, a camp in Michigan now serving fatherless children and one in which the family has a deeply rooted connection.
