
Yvonne Joy (White) Miller, 88, of Basehor, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 31st, 2025 at her home. She was born on July 22, 1936, in Salina to Clay M. and Mathilda W. (Tessman) White.
Yvonne married Charles Edwin Miller, Jr. on June 17, 1953 in Salina. She graduated from Salina High School in 1954 and worked as an operator for the telephone company and as an overnight admissions clerk at St. John’s Hospital before moving to Herington with her family in 1969. Yvonne spent her remaining years as a mother and homemaker. An accomplished seamstress, Yvonne worked outside of the home at Paragon Products, selling fabric and notions, and she also tried her hand at selling Avon products. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington. Yvonne moved for Basehor in January 2023 and enjoyed using the transportation services and participating in activities, especially bingo, at the Leavenworth County Council on Aging.
She is survived by two (2) sons: Steven Miller (wife - Donna) of Smithville, MO and Richard Miller (fiancé - Cambria) of North Bend, OR; two (2) daughters: Julie Deines (husband – Terry) of Ramona, KS and Connie Harmon (husband – Rick) of Basehor, KS; twelve (12) grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan (Liz), Steven, Story (Enrico), Tyler (Kara), Toni (Justin), Mason, Erin (Parker), Makenzie (Zac), Dylan (Ellie), Carly (Cory) and Madison (Knox); eleven great grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Sharon Kubik of Molalla, OR; and two (2) sisters-in-law, Dorothy Miller of Salina, and Betty Jo (White) Holcombe of Lindsborg.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Valerie Ives; her brother, Dick White; her sister, Bernice Collins; and both of her parents.
Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am, on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Jim Peters officiating. Burial will be at 1:30pm Saturday in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Leavenworth County Council on Aging Senior Express Transportation.
