
Madeleine M. (Kegle) Blackwood, 95 years of age, of Clyde passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, Kansas. She was born on January 1, 1930, in St. Joseph, Kansas to Albert and Helen (Ouellette) Kegle.
Madeleine was a graduate of Clyde HS in the Class of 1947.
She married Dr. Dean “Doc” James Blackwood on August 21, 1947, at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2007. To this union twelve children were born 6 boys Larry, Gary, Terry, D.J., Brad and Lance and 6 girls Sonja, De, Christine, Debbie, Karla and Jackie.
She was a member of the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post #7515 Women’s Aux. both of Clyde, Kansas, past member of the Moose Lodge in Concordia, Kansas.
Madeleine was the owner operator of the Blackwood’s Department Store in Clyde, for many years.
Madeleine is survived by, her five sons, Gary Blackwood of Holton, KS, Dr. Terry (Tammy) Blackwood of Concordia, KS, Dr. D.J. (Amy) Blackwood of Westmoreland, KS, Dr. Brad (Alisha) Blackwood of Clyde, KS, Lance (Cindi) Blackwood of Thompsons Station, TN; her five daughters, De (Allen) Roth of Hays, KS, Christine (Randy) Lawson of Agenda, KS, Debbie Blackwood of Holton, KS, Karla Weatherhead of Belleville, KS & (Gary Ramseyer of Clyde), Jackie (Wayne) Brooks of Winfield, KS;
31 grandchildren, 55 Great grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, a brother, Harold (Linda) Kegle of Clyde, KS; a sister, Betty Biery of Clyde, KS; Numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Dean “Doc” James Blackwood, her parents, Albert and Helen Kegle, daughter, Sonja Risetter, a son, Larry Blackwood, sister, Barbara Jean Kegle, one granddaughter, one grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas. The Funeral Home will then move Madeleine to the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church at 4 pm. The visitation will resume at 5:00 p.m. at the Church.
A Vigil/Rosary service will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, evening at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde. Family will receive friends after the Vigil/Rosary Service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2025, at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Steven Heina and Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas. A meal will be served for family and friends at the Clyde Community Hall following the graveside service.
