Roger Gilbert Black, 87, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, January 21, 2021, with his wife Rosalie at his side in the Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson. Roger was a loving and beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Roger was born in Melrose, New Mexico, on July 11, 1933, the son of Eva (West) and Roger Marvin Black. He was proud of his New Mexico heritage and often talked about his grandfathers who had homesteaded in the New Mexico territory before it became a state in 1912.

After graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1953, he was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1954, to support the Korean Conflict. Roger received a national secret security clearance, and he served as a driver for officers who were leading the development of the Atlas Missile sites surrounding Washington, D.C. He served in the active army until 1956, and continued in the Army Reserve through 1961 when he was honorably discharged, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

In 1957 Roger moved to Alamogordo, NM, near the Holloman Air Force Base. He used his natural proficiency in mechanical engineering and metal working at Holloman and employed by private government contractors, as a lead mechanical technician on NASA, Air Force, and General Motors safety research projects. His work included development of seat, lap, and shoulder belts, and air bags for passenger cars, aircraft, and spacecraft. Many of these became the safety standards used today.

Roger Gilbert Black was united in marriage with Rosalie Lowe-Snyder on November 26, 1969, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The couple, and her two daughters, established their first home together in Alamogordo. In 1971 Roger and family moved to Slidell, LA where Roger took a role with the U.S. Civil Service and the U.S. Navy to build a testing facility to conduct the testing of different restraint systems that are currently used in Naval aircraft. 

In 1996, after 25 years, Roger and Rosalie retired to a beautiful mountain home in northwest New Mexico and enjoyed many years exploring the trails, parks, and mountains of the Southwest.

Roger was a avid golfer, winning the city championship in Alamogordo, one year and first place, twice, in the city championship second flight in Slidell. Roger traded golfing in the sand of New Mexico for fishing in the bayous of Louisiana while avoiding the alligators. Over the years, he used his skills in carpentry to build many beautiful pieces of wood furniture for the family.

Roger was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Slidell, LA where he served as head usher for 23 years. He has been a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren for the past twelve years. With other members and college students he has participated in mission projects and trips using his mechanical and carpentry skills to build and rebuild homes for families in need.

Roger is survived by his loving devoted wife of over 51 years, Rosalie, of McPherson, KS; his children Karen Duprey, of Las Cruces, NM; Diane McGee, husband James, of Hazlet, TX; his step-children Debra Farrelly, husband James of Indianapolis, IN; and Susan Throckmorton, husband Scott, of Albuquerque, NM; his grandchildren Dawn Bridges (Shane); Alexis Duprey; Robert Farrelly (Kelly); John Farrelly (Monica); Amanda Welles (Sam); Paige Throckmorton (Alexandria); and his great-grandchildren, Rosalie and Madelyn Farrelly; Aurora Farrelly; and Matthew Welles.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Roger M. Black and Eva West Black Wells, and several beloved aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedars Wellness Center with Reverend Chris Whitaker officiating. Robert Henry Collins (Bob), 72, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Morris County Hospital after a courageous five-year battle against cancer. He was born on March 6, 1949 to Don R. and Lucille (Ifland) Collins at Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp; He attended elementary school in Prairie Village, Kansas and junior high and high school in Salina, Kansas, graduating in 1967.&nbsp; During those years he was active in the scouting program and was an Eagle Scout.

At Sterling College he met Mary Neuschwander and they were married on May 23, 1970. They have three sons: John, Jess and Zac.&nbsp; Bob graduated from Sterling with a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education. He would further his education by receiving a master’s degree in history from Emporia State University.

Bob and Mary moved to Council Grove, Kansas in July of 1972 where he taught social studies, drivers education, and coached football at Council Grove High School for eleven years.&nbsp; He began his career as a financial advisor for Waddell and Reed Financial Services in 1980 and served in that capacity for 41 years until his death.

Bob enjoyed being active in the community and served as a volunteer in a variety of areas including Hospital Foundation (33 .years), Relay for Life, 4-H photography leader, Extension Council, Voices of the Wind People Pageant, Washunga Days, and more.&nbsp; He was an active member and officer in the Kiwanis and Masonic organizations. Bob was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and provided leadership on a variety of the church’s boards and committees for almost 50 years.

Bob had a passion for photography and especially enjoyed taking pictures of sporting events at CGHS for the Council Grove Republican which provided him the opportunity to combine his love of sports and photography plus support and encourage the young athletes.&nbsp; He also enjoyed landscape photography and capturing the beauty of the Flint Hills in his photographs.&nbsp; His camera always accompanied him and Mary on their travels to Washington, D.C., Morocco, London, France, Kenya, Amsterdam, and family gatherings to record their experiences and provide visual memories of their adventures.

He was preceded in death by his parents Don R. and Lucille Collins, and his wife’s parents John and Ocie Neuschwander.

He is survived by his wife Mary, sons John (Jennifer), Abilene, KS, Jess (Anna), Lenexa, KS, and James (Marie), France and his cherished grandchildren Elizabeth, Ava, Capri, Marcel, Felix, and Albert who always brought a smile to his face!&nbsp;He is also survived by his brother Barry (Linda) Collins, Salina, KS, brother-in-law Taylor (Cindy) Neuschwander, Tulsa, OK, and sister-in-law, Ginger (Ron) Foos, Tribune, KS, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 19, 2021 at the Council Grove Dunlap United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.&nbsp; A visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021.&nbsp; The family requests that those attending wear masks.

Ralph W. Reese, 88, of Abilene passed away July 11, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born May 7, 1933 in Gypsum, Kansas, the son of Harry E. and Lucy (Van Voorst) Reese. 

Ralph enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years from 1957-1961. 

Ralph was a longtime Abilene businessman, owning Reese Jewelry store. 

He is survived by his sister Luetta Chaltas, numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends around the Abilene area. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Don Reese, Frank Reese and Dale Reese; and one sister, Charlene McNary. 

Funeral services for Ralph will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Carson Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Poheta Cemetery, Kipp, Kansas. Friends may come by anytime on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Danner Funeral Home to sign the book.

Ella JoAnn (McMahon) Callahan passed away July 1h, 2021 in Abilene, KS with her daughter holding her hand. EllaJo was born August 30, 1932 in Falls City NE to Patrick and Marcella (Coyne) McMahon. She grew up in Falls City. The family moved to Abilene when EllaJo was a sophomore in high school. She graduated from AHS in 1950 and continued her education and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1954 with an education degree. She was united in marriage to Garold K Callahan on June 12, 1954 and they had two children and were later divorced. EllaJo taught kindergarten in Abilene for over 35 years and retired from teaching in 1997. She loved her “babies” and gave so many children a wonderful start in their education. Family and her Catholic faith were the two most important things to her. She always said she was blessed to have such a large, extended family that was close and loved each other so much. She was an avid volunteer through the years helping at Enterprise Estates, Dickinson County Historical Society and Abilene &amp; Smoky Valley Railroad. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Retired Teachers Association. EllaJo is survived by her daughter Theresa (Danny Hern) of Abilene; sister Marcella McMahon, Abilene; brother Patrick McMahon, Jr., Hutchinson KS, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren Chad, Jacine, Jordan, and Bailee Hern of Smithville, MO and Sierra Hern, Boyd, Braven and Saylor Hatfield of Salina KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Patrick Callahan; sister Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-In-law Dominick Caldarulo. sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; niece Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephew Eric Hammerschmidt; and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp. ElleJo’s wishes were for everyone to dress casually for her service.

Mass of Christian Burial for EllaJo will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as celebrant. Her final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. A D of I rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesdayat the funeral home with the family receiving friends following.

Family and her Catholic faith were the two most important things to her. She always said she was blessed to have such a large, extended family that was close and loved each other so much. She was an avid volunteer through the years helping at Enterprise Estates, Dickinson County Historical Society and Abilene &amp; Smoky Valley Railroad. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Retired Teachers Association. EllaJo is survived by her daughter Theresa (Danny Hern) of Abilene; sister Marcella McMahon, Abilene; brother Patrick McMahon, Jr., Hutchinson KS, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren Chad, Jacine, Jordan, and Bailee Hern of Smithville, MO and Sierra Hern, Boyd, Braven and Saylor Hatfield of Salina KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Patrick Callahan; sister Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-In-law Dominick Caldarulo. sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; niece Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephew Eric Hammerschmidt; and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp. ElleJo’s wishes were for everyone to dress casually for her service. Mass of Christian Burial for EllaJo will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as celebrant. Her final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. A D of I rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesdayat the funeral home with the family receiving friends following. Larry married Judy Brucken, Feb. 1, 1969, in Beattie, Kan. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed wood working in his shop. Larry worked as a HVAC tech for many local companies and retired as a building systems tech at K-State Polytechnic, Salina.

He is survived by his daughters Tana Huninghake, Salina, Beverly Hokr (Russ), Lindsborg, Jennifer Starkel (Jerry), McPherson, and Melissa Huninghake, Salina; grandchildren Tishnah Nelson (Ryan), Jessica Stiawalt (Chris), Cody Starkel, Amanda Starkel, and Shane Starkel; great-grandsons Austin Brown and Justin Nelson; brothers, Lyle Huninghake (Mary), Atchison, and Galen Huninghake (Susan), Baileyville; and sisters Lois Boehmer, Bern, and Teresa Kalin, Cook, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Judy; parents; and brother Richard.

Franklyn Pekarek, 79, passed away on July 10, 2021 at Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; In the minutes before death, the Lord gave Frank the opportunity to tell each member of his family how much he loved them, gave last minute guidance with their lives, and said “goodbye.”&nbsp; Throughout this time, he kept telling his family that he was so excited to see Jesus.&nbsp; He passed&nbsp; at 7:35 a.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Franklyn Pekarek was born in Cicero, Illinois on March 27, 1942 to Frank E. and Mildred (Mesha) Pekarek.&nbsp; He lived his early life in Chicago, and moved to Kansas where he served as an intern in the Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, KS.&nbsp; While there, he met his future wife, Shirley.&nbsp; During his 48-year ministry, he served churches in Kansas and Colorado.&nbsp;

During his lifetime, Frank enjoyed reading history books, Civil War Reenacting, and visiting with his friends.&nbsp; His family was always very important to him.

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Dahlsten) Pekarek; daughters: Jennifer Pekarek of Salina, Leanne Grauerholz (Byron) of Salina; son, Brian Pekarek (Robyn) of Abilene; grandchildren are Ellie and Ben Grauerholz of Salina, and Seth, Thad, and Bobbi Pekarek of Abilene; other family members include a sister, Betty Cillo, nephew Don Cillo of Temple, TX; niece Pat Mitchell, of Las Cruces, NM; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Lo Dahlsten (MN); and nieces Jill Dahlsten and Carol Stevens (Jon) and daughter Brooke.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jeremy was born May 7, 1976.&nbsp; Growing up Jeremy was one of a kind.&nbsp; If you knew him, you definitely have a story to tell.&nbsp; He loved building things from a young age.&nbsp; He continued to build his entire life.&nbsp; Jeremy never had plans, he only used his vision. &nbsp;He traveled all over the United States building beautiful structures for people.&nbsp; Right before he was diagnosed with cancer, he finished building a beautiful home for his family.&nbsp;

He lived by never giving up or backing down.&nbsp; All he wanted in life was to protect and provide for his family which was everything to him.&nbsp;

Jeremy is survived by his loving wife, Jami; three amazing kids, Miriah, Jerzie, and Eastyn; dad, Mark Kinderknecht (Penny); mom Linda Patrick (Rhea); mother-in-law Judy Piercy (Keith Teasley); brother-in-law Craig Piercy (Melissa); sisters Tracy Kinderknecht, Rani Kinderknecht; brother Paul Kinderknecht (Sara); grandmother Noni; nieces and nephews Koltyn, Kyler, Kasyn, Kytsyn, Graci, Knox, Darion, Braden, Chevale, Jakx, Julian, Zeya; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.&nbsp; &nbsp;

SALINA - Marilyn Elizabeth Rich, 80, &nbsp;passed away at home on July 7, 2021 in Salina, Kansas. She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 7, 1941 to Pastor Howard T. Rich and Marguerite E. Rich. &nbsp;The family moved several times in the early years and lived briefly in Harlingen, TX and Philadelphia, MS and Rosedale, MS before settling in Johnson City, TN for most of Marilyn’s teenage years. Then in 1959, Marilyn went to Memphis &nbsp;where she attended Baptist Hospital School of Nursing for her RN degree. &nbsp;Parents Howard and Marguerite would later move to Memphis in 1971. &nbsp;

In 1962, she married Gerald W. Smith and settled in West Memphis, AR where they had three children: Mark, Teri and Timothy. &nbsp;Marilyn served in a local community health clinic there until moving to Salina, Kansas in 1974. She would then go on to serve for over 30 years at the Salina Regional Medical Center (then “Asbury Hospital”) in the emergency room, ambulatory services and endoscopy departments. She was devoted to direct patient care throughout her career.

Marilyn was a woman of great faith and an active member of First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, KS, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She and her husband, Sid, were also regular volunteers for several community service projects, providing food to the hungry and sharing the gospel with everyone they encountered. One of her favorite activities was to take “blessing bags” with candies and cookies to retail workers who had to work on the holidays which often prompted a conversation about her faith.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Sidney C. Rich, as well as her three children:&nbsp; Mark Smith and wife Donna; Teri Hall and her husband Kent, and Timothy Smith and his wife, Diana. She is also survived by her two younger brothers, Burt with his wife, Norma; and Ted with his wife, Vicki.&nbsp; In addition, Marilyn leaves seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Grayson, Shelby, Millicent, Caleb, Grant, Daniel and Cassie; and three great-grandchildren: Maximus, Eloise and Carson.&nbsp; She was preceded by both parents and one grandson, Tyler.

Judith Ann Standley went to be with her Lord on July 11, 2021. She was born in Lewellen, NE on October 10, 1944. Judi graduated from Lewellen Rural High School and worked as a comptroller for several automobile dealerships in Lincoln before moving with Alan Young Buick GMC to Fort Worth, TX. Judith is survived by her husband Michael of Salina, KS; son Bradley Dolson (Michele) of Lincoln, NE; grandsons Alex Dolson (Deia Montezano) of Marion, IA; Nick Dolson (Hayley) and grea-grandson Mason of Lincoln, NE; and granddaughter Hallie Pugliese (Anthony) of Loveland, CO. She is also survived by her twin sister Sandra Hernbloom of Salina, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kats and two brothers, Ronald and Roger. Per her request cremation has taken place and services are pending.

Bob grew up in Lawrence, KS where he became a solid Rock Chalk Jayhawk!&nbsp; He then went on to join the Air Force. He was stationed in Salina (Schilling) as an air traffic controller.&nbsp; After service, he became an electrician.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was owner of AAA Electric as well as being a Master Electrician for the Electrical Union. He was also Sr Project Manager for Citadel Electric which included projects&nbsp; such as building the Russell Stover Plant in Abilene and many jobs at Ft. Riley for the Army Corps of Engineering. His favorite was the 1st Division Headquarters of the U.S. Army, Ft. Riley. Bob took pride in safety and never lost a crew member.

Bob was an active member for the Elks Lodge where he was promoted to Exalted Ruler.&nbsp; He served as golf course Superintendent for the Elks (Great Life)&nbsp; transforming the grounds to a beautiful green oasis!

Avid golfer proudly reporting 3 holes in one! Two of which he achieved after age 80 with his final hole in one while golfing with his 3 grandsons Tanner, Dylon, and Sam at the age of 82!

Loved ones that will miss him include his wife, Andrea Davis, daughters: Debra Davis,Bobbi (Mike) Mull, Pamela (Dan) Collins, Stacy (Jason) Klein,&nbsp; Anna (Rod) Smith, Cynthia (Jeremy) Halpain, Rene (Patrick) Parker, brother Larry (Barbara) Brizendine, sister Stella Lambert.&nbsp; He also is a beloved grandfather of 22, and 19 great grandchildren as well as countless “adopted children,” relatives, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Davis, wife Ann Davis, and son Jon Gonzales.

Celebration of life will be July 17, 10:30 am at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, dinner following. Feel free to wear KU, Chiefs, Royals in his memory.

This union was blessed with three children, Derric, Brandon, and Kamie. Brad preceded Vicki in death on February 29, 2016. Willis’ life began on February 11, 1941, in the Hillsboro Hospital.&nbsp; He was the son of Curtis R. and Winifred (Nansen) Peterson.&nbsp; Willis was in the first graduating class of Centre High School (1959). He played football and was in the band.&nbsp; He continued his education at Kansas State University where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity (Alpha Iota Chapter) and Army ROTC. Willis graduated in 1964 with a degree in milling technology.&nbsp; 

Willis operated the Cargill Mill in Wichita for 15 plus years and previously, he worked in the oil fields.&nbsp; Farming his land was his true calling and during his working life he commuted 80 miles each way nearly every day to be able to live on his farm. After retiring in 2004 from Cargill Mill he continued to farm in Morris and Marion counties. He was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick and also attended Aulne Church. Willis enjoyed collecting agricultural antiques.&nbsp; 

He was united in marriage to the former Karyn “Sue” Glenn on July 3, 2004, at Marion County Lake.&nbsp; His loving family includes his wife Sue of Marion, children Daine (Kat) Peterson of Hillsboro, Curtis (Marcy) Peterson of Holcomb, and Troy (Chris) Peterson of Lincolnville; grandchildren Amanda, Dakota, Cheyenne, Avery, Ty, Jon, Sydnee, Jakob, Nick, Emilee, Tucker, Michael, Sabrina, Brandon, Taylor, Hannah and Grace; several great-grandchildren; his twin brother Warren Peterson of Sedona, AZ and niece and nephew Sam and Katie. Willis will also be missed by his beloved fur babies Zoey, Suzy and Pia.&nbsp; 

Willis was preceded in death by his beloved infant son David Joel and his faithful dog Bobby.&nbsp; 

His family will gather with friends for his memorial service on Saturday July 17 at 10 a.m. in the Marion County Lake Shelter House on the east side of the lake.&nbsp;

Linda Louise (Ayers) Foster, 65, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 after a long battle of COPD and lung cancer. Linda was born on September 27, 1955 to William Carson and Thelma Rose &nbsp;Ayres in Arkansas. 

As a child, she excelled in many sports, especially basketball. After graduating from Hill City, Kansas High School in 1973 she was awarded a basketball scholarship to Colby Community College. She was an excellent cook and pursued that as her lifetime career. She took several classes and became a certified baker. Linda was known to make the best homemade cinnamon rolls around. Linda served as a baker and cook at school and at McPherson Hospital where she retired 18 months ago. 

Linda loved to bake her famous cinnamon rolls, to play bingo, thoroughly enjoyed scratching lottery tickets for winners, enjoyed being with people, and being at her children and grandchildren’s sporting events which she seldom missed. She was also a big KU fan. Her kindness to others will always be remembered. 

She is preceded in death by her father; three sisters, Lucille, Shirley, Brenda; and four brothers, Larry, Jerry, Alvin, and Kenny Ayers. 

She is survived by her mother Thelma Ayers; brother and his wife, Kim and Lana Ayers; four sons, Brian Billinger of Newton, Bradley Billinger of Canton, Kansas, Brent Billinger of Canton, Kansas, Christopher Billinger of Herington, Kansas; two daughters, Brandy Gutierrez of Great Bend, Kansas and Krystal Billinger of McPherson, Kansas; 11 grandchildren. 

Linda’s wishes were to not have a funeral service, but to have a life celebration memorial service which will be announced at a later time.

BILLINGS, MT - Marian Louise Rahmeier Frederking, 91, longtime Salina resident, was called home to her savior, July 4, 2021, in Billings, MT.&nbsp; Marian was born in Ellsworth, KS, Sept. 12, 1929 to Henry and Laura (Pflughoeft) Rahmeier, Jr.&nbsp; Marian married the love her life Walter Frederking, Oct 31, 1948, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove.

Marian graduated from Sylvan Grove Public High School and attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina.&nbsp; She was a secretarial worker prior to taking time to raise her family and then spent 21 years at Great Plains Insurance Company, retiring in 1993.&nbsp; Marian is fondly remembered for giving selflessly of her time and talents to her family, friends, community and church.&nbsp; Marian shared her talent for painting and sewing with family and her paintings and sewing projects are still enjoyed today.

She is survived by children David Frederking (Kim); Rebecca Voelzke, Ruth Terry and Esther Roth; grandchildren Jesika Doty, Matt Frederking (Melissa), Adam Frederking (Myka), Chris Frederking (Venessa), David Terry (Katya), Nick Roth (Jennifer) and Taylor Roth; and great-grandchildren, Liam Doty; Rylee, Hadley, Canyon, Samuel, Sadie and Eli Frederking, Sarah Hale; Asher, Jonas and Noah Roth; sister Gertie Brown; and sister-in-law Alice Rahmeier.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernie Rahmeier; sons-in-law John Terry and Joseph Roth; grandson-in-law Doug Doty; and granddaughter April Frederking.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S. Ninth, Salina, with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Thomas Andrew “TC” Collins, 82, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 7, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas. Thomas was born in Independence, Missouri on October 3, 1938, the only child of the late Katherine L. (Webb) and Andrew W. Collins. TC Graduated from Trail High School Class of 1956, served three years in the United States Army from September 19,1960 to September 19,1963 and then attended Marymount College. TC worked as the sales manager for Pop- A-Shot, Salina, Kansas from 1981 until retirement in 2017. He was the head women’s coach at Marymount college for volleyball and basketball, the head men’s baseball coach and co-coach of the Marymount ‘Spartans’ men’s basketball program. TC spent several years as a coach of youth baseball in the city of Salina. He was head coach for the city of Salina's American Legion “Falcons” baseball team. TC was also a volunteer PA announcer for the national women’s junior college basketball tournament and the 4A state championship girls volleyball and girls and boys basketball tournaments. He was also an avid bicyclist. He served as a camp director and active coach for Heart of America Sports Camps for 30 years and was awarded an appreciation plaque from Marymount College for his 30 years of service to the Heart of America Sports Camps, Marymount College of Kansas, and Midwestern Youth. Ferril was born in Dodge City, Kansas on October 1, 1928, a son of Wanita I. (Jenkins) and Forrest F. Heling. Ferril attended the Pratt grade schools and graduated from Pratt High School, Pratt, Kansas. He was a member of First Christian Church Pratt, KS. He honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a SSG in WW II, and then also served in the U.S. Air Force as a SSG in the Korean War. Ferril Lee Heling was united in marriage to Dixie Lou Davies on September 11, 1973 at Pratt, Kansas. Dixie died on March 7, 1995. Ferril began working for Rock Island Railroad in 1945 as a fireman. He retired in 1987 as locomotive engineer for Southern Pacific. Ferril was a member of Masonic Lodge #72, McPherson; Salina Scottish Rite; Isis Temple Shrine, Salina; American Legion Post 24, and Elk's Lodge B.P.O.E. #502, both of McPherson. Ferril enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, golfing, flying his planes, water and snow skiing, and his 5 o'clock tottie. Ferril is survived by his daughters Debra Johnson, of Pratt, Kansas and Janet Heling, of Pratt, Kansas; his four grandchildren, Kimberly Seidel, Temple Briscoe, Amber Sprague, and Todd Startzman; his 10 great-grandchildren, Brittany Rector, Gunner DeClue, Bailey DeClue, Riley Howe, Shawna Baker, Brandi Briscoe, Kami Mortenson, Kelsi Constable, Jordan Sprague, and Cameron Startzman; his four great-great-grandchildren, Charlee Rector, James Baker, Allison Baker, and Jason Colon-Vega; other relatives and a host of friends. Sun Cha Miles “Cha Cha”, 68, was born in Seoul, South Korea, on September 21, 1952, and passed away in Salina, Kansas, on December 25, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father Yong Ok Yun; mother Dong Su Kim; and niece Jihae Yun. Survivors include husband Steven Kelly Miles of Salina; siblings: five brothers and three sisters, elder sister, Sun Ok Kerby of Salina and husband James (Jim) L. Kerby, nephew, James Y. Kerby of Salina, niece, Melissi Kerby of Gardner; great-niece “granddaughter” Aaliyah Sun Kerby; brothers, Suk Bong Yun of South Korea, Sun Bong Yun of South Korea, Who Bong Yun of South Korea, Suk Whan Yun of South Korea, and Chun Bong Yun of South Korea; sisters, Soon Bok Yun of South Korea, and Soon Mi Yun of South Korea; and a total of 46 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Cha Cha came to America in 1973 and took pride in when she earned her American citizenship in 1977. She worked for Tony’s Pizza for 28 years and retired in 2016 as a sanitation lead.&nbsp;

Cha Cha and Steve were married on November 6, 1982 in Junction City, Kansas. They were married for 38 years and have resided in Salina since 1988. She was a devoted and loving wife to Steve whom she called “Kelly” or “Boo Boo”. She loved him so dearly and always spoke about his loving nature towards her. She always spoke about how she loved her life and how he made it the best life for her. She adored his family because they welcomed her with open arms and treated her with such love and kindness. 

Her bond with her sister, Sun Ok, was inseparable and they were by each other’s side for her whole life. She was like a little sister and created a special bond with her brother-in-law, Jim. Cha Cha had a special connection with her niece, Melissi “Mish”, and her “granddaughter”, Aaliyah. Her love and dedication to Aaliyah was unbreakable and she loved her with all her heart. 

Cha Cha loved her three dogs: Annabelle, Kaliyan and Charlie. She loved to cook, bake, garden and was always learning new things. She took pride in homemaking and being able to share her amazing treats and dishes with others. Cha Cha loved to travel and enjoyed thrill seeking activities like white water rafting and zip lining. She was known for her energetic spirit, loving nature, and the excitement and passion in her voice.&nbsp;

The memorial service for Sun Cha Miles will be Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St, Salina, KS. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, KS.

Gail D. Menard, 81, of Broken Arrow, OK and formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at his home in Broken Arrow. 

Gail Dean Menard was born on August 27, 1939, in Concordia, Kansas to John Julian Menard and Regina Bernadette Marcotte. Gail had two siblings, an older brother Donald Menard, and a younger brother Gary Menard who proceeded him in death in 2011. Gail was blessed in a 50-year union with the late Carolyn LeBlanc in Clyde, Kansas and from that marriage had four children. The first of their children was a son, Galen born in Concordia, Kansas. After a move to Clay Center, Kansas, the addition of two daughters, Lori and Lisa further enriched their lives and family. Lori proceeded him in death in 2018. In 1961, the family relocated to McPherson and later added another daughter, Lana. Gail enjoyed employment in the insurance business, as a radio announcer, and then as a salesman for McPherson Business Machines. He would later become general manager and owner of this business. Later in life, Gail sold his business and returned to radio as an account executive for Radio Kansas. In 2007, Gail joined in marriage to Ila Fae Mackey in Oklahoma City. This union brought Gail so much happiness and enabled him to continue his love of travel, taking them coast to coast and on several cruises. His life was also enriched by adding Ila’s adult children and grandchildren. They made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma before moving to Silver Arrow Independent Living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma due to Gail’s health condition. Gail’s love for the Lord made music and bible teaching an important part of his life. Not only was he a member of many church choirs through the years, his love of music would lead him to helping orchestrate a group called SGM which promoted Southern Gospel Music groups to perform in McPherson. Other interests were playing golf, astronomy, cards, and watching sports. But playing the card game Pitch is what brought out his competitive side. Better known as Ampa and Papa, Gail was especially proud of his nine grandchildren: Lindsey (Matthew), Josh (Rachelle), Tara (Hugh), Sydney (Josh), Jason (Heidi), Sara (Jake), Jared (Karissa), Clarissa, and Emily (Kendall). There were numerous trips to the park, Dairy Queen, and was always willing to play a game at the house. Gail never missed a single graduation or wedding, and he loved visiting and hearing about each of their interests. Gail thought of his children’s spouses as his own children. Rhonda Menard, Park Estes, Kevin Fenimore and Ila’s children, Melody Mills (Steve), Mike Mackey (Angela), Mark Mackey (Belinda) and Monte Mackey were all loved and important parts of his life. Gail entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, surrounded by family at his home in Broken Arrow, OK. He was eighty-one. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Pastor Jared Menard officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, at the church. A private graveside service will be held at the McPherson Cemetery. Menard, 81, of Broken Arrow, OK and formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at his home in Broken Arrow. Gail Dean Menard was born on August 27, 1939, in Concordia, Kansas to John Julian Menard and Regina Bernadette Marcotte. Gail had two siblings, an older brother Donald Menard, and a younger brother Gary Menard who proceeded him in death in 2011. Gail was blessed in a 50-year union with the late Carolyn LeBlanc in Clyde, Kansas and from that marriage had four children. The first of their children was a son, Galen born in Concordia, Kansas. After a move to Clay Center, Kansas, the addition of two daughters, Lori and Lisa further enriched their lives and family. Lori proceeded him in death in 2018. In 1961, the family relocated to McPherson and later added another daughter, Lana. Gail enjoyed employment in the insurance business, as a radio announcer, and then as a salesman for McPherson Business Machines. He would later become general manager and owner of this business. Later in life, Gail sold his business and returned to radio as an account executive for Radio Kansas. In 2007, Gail joined in marriage to Ila Fae Mackey in Oklahoma City. This union brought Gail so much happiness and enabled him to continue his love of travel, taking them coast to coast and on several cruises. His life was also enriched by adding Ila’s adult children and grandchildren. They made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma before moving to Silver Arrow Independent Living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma due to Gail’s health condition. Gail’s love for the Lord made music and bible teaching an important part of his life. Not only was he a member of many church choirs through the years, his love of music would lead him to helping orchestrate a group called SGM which promoted Southern Gospel Music groups to perform in McPherson. Other interests were playing golf, astronomy, cards, and watching sports. But playing the card game Pitch is what brought out his competitive side. Better known as Ampa and Papa, Gail was especially proud of his nine grandchildren: Lindsey (Matthew), Josh (Rachelle), Tara (Hugh), Sydney (Josh), Jason (Heidi), Sara (Jake), Jared (Karissa), Clarissa, and Emily (Kendall). There were numerous trips to the park, Dairy Queen, and was always willing to play a game at the house. Gail never missed a single graduation or wedding, and he loved visiting and hearing about each of their interests. Gail thought of his children’s spouses as his own children. Rhonda Menard, Park Estes, Kevin Fenimore and Ila’s children, Melody Mills (Steve), Mike Mackey (Angela), Mark Mackey (Belinda) and Monte Mackey were all loved and important parts of his life. Lloyd Florence went home on July 4, 2021. He was born May 20, 1946 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of George and Alice (Horne) Florence.&nbsp;

Lloyd was a veteran who served his country from 1965 – 1969 in the submarine service. He was a cook.

He married Marlene Hill in 1967; they had 54 wonderful years together.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lloyd enjoyed his museum and passing his knowledge of history to others. He loved visiting with and helping his many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by both parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lloyd is survived by his wife Marlene Florence; son Jeff Florence and wife Jennifer; daughter Lori Knight and husband Randy; sister Myrta Townsend and husband Robert; grandchildren: Toby Florence (Jen), Elizabeth Florence, Tori Master and Kate Masters; great-grandchildren: Max Olsen, McKenzie Olsen, Hayden Florence, Hudson Florence and Maverick Florence; and a host of friends.
