Dian’s life began on September 18, 1931, in Herington. She was the daughter of Raymond James and Minnie Augusta (Krause) DeBus. Dian was a 1950 graduate of Herington High School and was a majorette in the band.

She was united in marriage to Paul William Hegle on June 16, 1951, in Freemont, Neb.

Dian worked as a store clerk most of her working career. She was a window dresser and store clerk for JC Penney and Dreiling’s Store. Dian enjoyed flower gardening, baking for her family, loved to fish, loved to take walks and socializing with her friends.

Her greatest joy was her family including her children Cindy (Gary) Floyd of Herington, Kimberly (Scott) Erickson of Salina, and Tracy (Robert) Gilbert of Groveland, FL; grandchildren GP (Amber) Floyd, Danny Floyd, Nicholyn Strome, Clansey (Emily) Strome, Sarah (Aaron) Wendt, Madeleine Gilbert and Mason Gilbert; great-grandchildren Amanda, Tana, Brantley, Wesley, Matthew and Liam, Cleveland, Ivy, Barrett; and great-great-grandchild Sadie.

Dian passed away on August 5, 2021, at Herington Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Woodie, and Kenney DeBus, Lee Rose Valentine, Ella Mae Taylor and Betty Nely.

Her family will gather with friends on Monday, August 9 from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home. Dian’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Dian’s name are to establish a memorial bench for Paul and Dian and may be directed to the funeral home.
