Gerald Dittman Obituary 2021 - Yazel - Megli Funeral Homes (yazelmeglifh.com)

Gerald’s life began on February 25, 1953, in Herington. He was the son of Charles and Alice Mae (Diepenbrock) Dittman. He was a 1971 graduate of Hope High School. Gerald was united in marriage to Diana Evans on December 7, 1974, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.

At the time of his death, Gerald was a school bus driver for Hope schools. Gerald enjoyed riding his motorcycle and making wine and home brewing beer. He was a great cook and computer hobbyist, as well as doing some woodworking. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 12 and at the time of his death was the current commander.

His loving family includes his wife Diana of Hope, children Erin (Keith) Day of Krum, TX and Megan (Greg) McPherson of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Tobin and Caitlin Day; siblings Sharon (CJ) Cross of Salina, Duane (Brenda) Dittman of Lincolnville, Janice (John) Fenske of Valley Center and Charlotte (Jim) Schultz of Hope and many nieces and nephews.

Gerald passed away on August 2, 2021, in Garden City, MO.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyn Dittman.

His family will gather with friends on Sunday, August 8 from 2-4 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington. His memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek.

Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name may be directed to the American Legion Post 12 or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center in care of the funeral home.
