Michael LeRoy Huber of Sachse, TX, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 surrounded by his wife and family on Nov. 20, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born in Concordia, KS, on Jun 21, 1953 to Lyle and Harriett (Simmons) Huber.

He was married to Christine (Sicard-Scott) at the Brown Grand Theatre in Concordia, KS, on July 7, 2001. Michael graduated from Concordia High School, Concordia, KS in 1971.

He then went on to serve 11 years in the Army as a ground control approach radar specialist. He achieved the rank of SP6 and SSGT serving during Vietnam, Turkish-Cypriot, and Cold War eras. He served at multiple duty locations during his military career. His last assignment was with a joint multi-national task force in Greece as a missile crewman. He was awarded multiple awards to include the National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development number 2, and Good Conduct Medal 3rd Award.

He went onto KU where he graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Michael retired in 2017 after 29 years with Texas Instruments as a DMT in DMOS5 in Dallas, TX. Michael enjoyed flying his rc racing planes where he was a member of the AMA model aviation and was FCC licensed. He volunteered as a mentor in the Dallas Best Robotics.

He also loved hunting, playing cards, going to casinos, fishing with his wife &amp; grandchildren, watching KU basketball, and was a connoisseur of hot sauces!

Michael is preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his loving wife Christine of Sachse, TX; his children Debi (Danny) Hornkohl of Palmer, KS; Linda (Chuck) Hammon of Rochester, MN; Candice (Clint) Walker of Bedford, TX; his grandchildren Lane (Kaela) Huff, Lacey Huff, Lisa Huff, Emmerich Hornkohl &amp; Elizabeth Hammon; great-grandchildren Keeler &amp; Braxton; his siblings Chris (Jim) Workman of Concordia, KS; Theresa (Mark) Gram of Clyde, KS; and Jeff (Becky) Huber of Concordia, KS.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.&nbsp; Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, June 15, 2020 at&nbsp; 10:00 a.m. at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS. 66503.

Nelson A. Newell, 74, of Salina, Kansas passed away June 1, 2021.

Nelson was born August 5, 1946 in Rooks County, Kansas to Emile and Alfreda Newell and was one of eight children.

Nelson was drafted and served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. After his honorable discharge in 1970, he purchased a new Chevelle that he proudly drove, ran, and showed whenever possible. He married Robin (Justus) September 15, 1973 and started a family in Salina. Nelson retired from Philips Lighting in 2006.

He was active with many organizations including Boy Scouts, TREA, and Thursday Night Cruisers of Salina. Nelson enjoyed visiting with friends, watching nearly every sport, both college and professional, and spending time with family.

Nelson is preceded in death by his parents Emile and Alfreda; wife Robin; siblings Annette, Duane, Kenny, Lavinia, and Leroy; and grandson Marcus Graham.

He is survived by Anthony (Michelle) Newell, Jamie Newell; granddaughter Megan Graham; great-grandson Dawson Mason; siblings Harriett and Janet, as well as a very large group of extended family and loving friends.

The family will be receiving visitors Monday, June 7 from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. &nbsp;

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Fred Gatschet as celebrant, meal directly following on site at The Hall of Bishops, with burial at 1 p.m. at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Darlene attended Minneapolis High School and was active in 4-H while in school.&nbsp; She married Thomas Meredith on October 10, 1959 in Minneapolis, KS.&nbsp; Tom and Darlene were inseparable.&nbsp; They truly loved life and spending time together. They had four children of their own and through Darlene’s selfless love and care for generations of children in the Delphos area, she helped to raise many others.&nbsp; She not only provided childcare for over 50 years, she showered the children with her love and affection, often attending countless events in the community.&nbsp; Darlene was also a Boy Scout leader and involved in the St. Jude Bike-A-Thon, raising money for hospitalized children.

Thomas Udeen Meredith, 86, Delphos, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born May 29, 1935 in Delphos to Ronald Thomas and Doris Lillian (Pounds) Meredith.

Tom attended school in Delphos and he was a 1954 graduate of Delphos High School. He married Darlene Smith on October 10, 1959 in Minneapolis, KS.&nbsp; Tom and Darlene were inseparable. They truly loved life and spending time together. He served as city superintendent in Delphos for over 40 plus years before retiring.&nbsp; Tom also served on the Delphos Fire Department for 52 years as the chief. &nbsp;

He coached softball for over 40 years and he was an avid coyote and coon hunter, and he dearly loved his greyhounds.&nbsp; He had a true love for all of his family.

Morse L. Boucher passed away Tuesday June 1, 2021, at Smith County 
Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Kansas. He was 86 years old. He was 
the first child of Anthony Morse and Ida E. (Lambert) Boucher. He was 
born on August 24, 1934, in Norton. He was blessed with four siblings.
 On August 7, 1955, he married the love of his life, Lucille Carolyn 
Eller in Smith Center, Kansas. She survives, Except for his time in the 
Service and a short time in college; they shared their entire time 
together in Smith Center. They were blessed with three Sons, Michael 
Allen in 1959, Jay Morse in 1961 and Douglass Keith in 1962.
 Morse worked his entire life for Boogarts Grocery business at the 
company’s Mini-Max warehouse and bakery in Smith Center. He started in 
the bakery and finished as the facility manager, produce and frozen 
foods buyer. 
 The company became Scrivner-Boogarts and finally just Scrivner. 
 As the company grew, so did his list of accomplishments. He was 
almost always the top produce division in the company. He won trophies

 While he was very successful in business, Morse was always called to
 volunteer and help in Smith Center. When a need for a second Cookie 
baseball team arose, he volunteered and coached the 13-15-year-olds 
before his own boys were in school. He later coached the Jaycee Peewee 
baseball team, which later became the Smith County State Bank &amp; 
Trust team for many years. He coached his own three boys for four years 
and then stayed on to coach local children for another 11 years.
 Morse was very active in the Jaycees for years, serving as a Jaycee 
Northwest Regional, Vice President, along with many other state offices.
 During this time period, the Jaycees sponsored the youth baseball team,
 dances and rebuilt and held car racing at the Fair Grounds in Smith 
Center. 
 Family activities filled his life. He led the local Boy Scouts of 
America Troop 102 for several years. He was very proud of his Scouts 
work for charities and for their learning proper flag etiquette. Several
 of the Boys Scouts went on to earn their Eagle Scouts awards. 
 As his sons started middle school and high school sports, Morse 
rekindled his love for football. He was added to the chain gang as Mike 
started high school, but he waited until after Doug’s final game to get 
really involved. He worked the chains at all varsity home games for many
 years. He also started hosting a watermelon feed each school year for 
the football team after two-a-day practices ended. In the beginning it 
was a donation from the company, but after he left the company, he 
continued to provide the watermelons for many more years. It grew from 
football players to all fall sports participants. The watermelon feed 
and his years of service on the chain crew ended when his good friend, 
legendary Redmen football head coach Roger Barta retired.
 Morse’s other sporting passion was for any team from Kansas State 
University. He and Lucille loved attending football games in Manhattan 
and had season tickets for more than 20 years.
 Morse graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1952. He was a 
three sport-letter winner for the Panthers. He attended Kansas State 
University for two years before he was drafted into the U.S. Army and 
served in Georgia and Arizona from 1957 to 1959.
 He joined the American Lutheran Church in Smith Center at age 50 and enjoyed many years of worship and fellowship there.
 He is survived by his wife Lucille of the home, Sons Michael 
(Dorothy) of Augusta, Kansas, Jay (Kathy) of Overland Park and Doug 
(Merrie) of Hays. Grandchildren include Jay D. (Brooke) of Claremore, 
Okla., David (Rachel) of Hoyt, Cassandra (William) Tripoli, of Rostraver
 Township, Penn., Dannie, of Smith Center, Kris (Mallory) of Salina, and 
Tim (fiancé Kelly Burkhart) of Overland Park. Eight great-grandchildren,
 Brea, Avonelle, Martel and Victoria of Claremore, Okla., and Taylor, 
Claire, and Myles, of Hoyt and Madison of Salina. He is also survived by
 a sister, Norma of Greenville, S.C. and several nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Shirley, Ronnie, and Gary.

Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Kansas. He was 86 years old. He was 
the first child of Anthony Morse and Ida E. (Lambert) Boucher. He was 
born on August 24, 1934, in Norton. He was blessed with four siblings.
 On August 7, 1955, he married the love of his life, Lucille Carolyn 
Eller in Smith Center, Kansas. She survives, Except for his time in the 
Service and a short time in college; they shared their entire time 
together in Smith Center. They were blessed with three Sons, Michael 
Allen in 1959, Jay Morse in 1961 and Douglass Keith in 1962.
 Morse worked his entire life for Boogarts Grocery business at the 
company’s Mini-Max warehouse and bakery in Smith Center. He started in 
the bakery and finished as the facility manager, produce and frozen 
foods buyer. 
 The company became Scrivner-Boogarts and finally just Scrivner. 
 As the company grew, so did his list of accomplishments. He was 
almost always the top produce division in the company. He won trophies

Virginia "Virgie" Louise Neiswender, 73, of Salina, passed away March 20, 2021. She was born June 7, 1947, oldest daughter of the late Rosa (Rand) and Floyd Close. Virgie grew up on a rural farm south of Abilene and attended Solomon schools K-12. She was a skilled fast-pitch softball player and enjoyed bowling. She was known for working local auctions in Salina. She retired from Westinghouse (Philips Lighting) after 43 years. Virgie knew no stranger and was always making new friends. She was always ready to help any person or animal in need. Survivors include her life partner, Judy Klanke; sisters, Jean Close Smith and husband (Don Reed) and Connie (Rodney) Wolf; sister-in-law, Farrell Rand; brother-in-law, Mark Bunting; five nieces, Toni, Salley, Michelle, Heather, and Julie; and two nephews, Bradley and Tyler; cousin, Edwin (Marlene) Duran, and her beloved fur babies, Missy, Noah, Smokey, Goldie, Simon, Ink and Sylvester. Donna Lorraine Forsberg, 89, of Lindsborg passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. Donna was born June 1, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Francis Arthur “Art” and Alma Caroline (Holden) Swenson.  

Donna graduated from Concordia High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College.  She was married to Kenneth Forsberg on May 24, 1953 in Norway, Kansas.

Donna was a school teacher in Lindsborg and Salina.  She also worked as a paraprofessional for special education in Lindsborg.  Donna was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the Lindsborg community, where she was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.  She served on the Bethany College Alumni Council, and was the former secretary and a volunteer on the Lindsborg Pride Committee.  Donna was also a former member and president of the AlKaid Federated Club. 

Donna is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lewis and Nadine Sole and Paul and Romeyn Nordell; and brother-in-law Edwin Pick

Survivors include her daughter Rochelle Glover (Rick) of Newton, KS; son Brad Forsberg (Jill) of Lindsborg, KS; grandchildren Brianne Whitley (Zach), Brooke Glover, Allison Forsberg; Megan Forsberg, and Garrett Forsberg; sister Marian Pick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Jon Sjogren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 401 N. 1st St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Amy Truhe officiating.  Private inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery prior to the memorial.

Randy is survived by his son Rodney Helus and his wife Gennifer of Canton, GA; granddaughters Emma and Elle; sister Kristi Logue and husband Steve of Derby, KS; brother Ron Helus and wife Sherry of Harrisonville, MO; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pat; and sister Candy Helus.

Odella I. Yaksich,&nbsp;age 99, of Concordia, passed away on May 30, 2021&nbsp;at the Josie Harper Hospice House,&nbsp;Omaha, NE&nbsp;due to natural causes.&nbsp;Odella was born December 20, 1921 in Aurora KS to George and Anna (Adam) Perret.

She attended Aurora Catholic Schools graduating in 1939. Odella married Michael M. Yaksich on February 8, 1945 at St. Peter Catholic&nbsp;Church, Aurora, KS.

During her lifetime she worked at the&nbsp;Aurora Co-Op elevator and at Montgomery Wards, St. Joseph Hospital and the Gelvin Haughey Clinic in Concordia, retiring in 1984.

She&nbsp;was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic&nbsp;Church, the Altar Society, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, the&nbsp;former Aurora Ladies Club and was very active in her church and&nbsp;community all the way into her 90s.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia (Marty) Ireland, Plantation FL,&nbsp;Mary Jane Collette, Omaha, NE and daughter-in-law, Gaye Yaksich, Inlet Beach, FL;&nbsp;five grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dyer, Venetia, PA, Michael (Suzie) Yaksich, Omaha,&nbsp;NE, Diane (Richard) Pyle, Pembroke Pines, FL,&nbsp;David (Lindsey) Collette and Adam (Taryn) Collette, Omaha, NE and 16 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband&nbsp;Michael M.Yaksich, son Michael G.Yaksich, her parents George and Anna Perret, sisters Eva Letourneau and Marie Hebert and son-in-law David Collette.

Odella loved her family with all her heart, most especially her great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her Grandma YaYa. &nbsp;She lived a long and wonderful life and will be&nbsp;greatly missed by her&nbsp;family and friends.&nbsp;

Odella married Michael M. Yaksich on February 8, 1945 at St. Peter Catholic&nbsp;Church, Aurora, KS.During her lifetime she worked at the&nbsp;Aurora Co-Op elevator and at Montgomery Wards, St. Joseph Hospital and the Gelvin Haughey Clinic in Concordia, retiring in 1984.She&nbsp;was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic&nbsp;Church, the Altar Society, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, the&nbsp;former Aurora Ladies Club and was very active in her church and&nbsp;community all the way into her 90s.She is survived by her daughters Patricia (Marty) Ireland, Plantation FL,&nbsp;Mary Jane Collette, Omaha, NE and daughter-in-law, Gaye Yaksich, Inlet Beach, FL;&nbsp;five grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dyer, Venetia, PA, Michael (Suzie) Yaksich, Omaha,&nbsp;NE, Diane (Richard) Pyle, Pembroke Pines, FL,&nbsp;David (Lindsey) Collette and Adam (Taryn) Collette, Omaha, NE and 16 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her husband&nbsp;Michael M.Yaksich, son Michael G.Yaksich, her parents George and Anna Perret, sisters Eva Letourneau and Marie Hebert and son-in-law David Collette.Odella loved her family with all her heart, most especially her great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her Grandma YaYa. &nbsp;She lived a long and wonderful life and will be&nbsp;greatly missed by her&nbsp;family and friends.&nbsp;Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Sat., June 12, 2021 at&nbsp;Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. She was a 1986 graduate of Concordia High School.

Beverly married Wesley Howe and they later divorced.

She was baptized at the Victory Faith Church in Concordia.

Beverly enjoyed watching TV, jigsaw puzzles, and most of all, visiting with family and friends.

Beverly is survived by two daughters, Dianna Marie Williams, Harper, WI; Sarah LuAnna Williams, Scranton, CO; son Jonathan Eugene Howe, Belleville, KS; two brothers, LaVerne Parks, Jr. (Nancy), Hutchinson, KS; Leroy Parks (Peggie), Salina, KS; two half-sisters, Wanda Harlow, Overland Park, KS; Melinda Boyles, Excelsior Springs, MO.; &nbsp;step-brother, Brian Myers, FL; two step-sisters, Cindy Myers, Shawnee Mission, KS; Terrie Myers, Concordia, KS; three uncles, Don Frybarger (Lyndal), Belleville, KS; William Frybarger, Concordia, KS; &nbsp;Robert Frybarger (Juanita), Belleville, KS; Aunt, Bersita “Bert” Mendenhall (Raymond), Concordia, KS; many nieces and nephews.

She attended Walker Grade School and the Longford Rural High School and taught one year at the Bouldin School in Clay County. Later she worked at the Duckwall store, First Western Bank and the Farmers National Banks, now-UMB of Abilene. She retired in 1985.

On February 28, 1940 she was united in marriage to Wayne R. Ayre at Longford, Kansas. Most of her married life was spent in Abilene, Kansas. She was a long time member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Abilene, formerly called the Evangelical Church. She loved working in her church. She enjoyed visiting friends at rest homes, reading, walking and growing roses, also doing volunteer work at her church, the Good News Book Store and the Abilene visitor’s information center. She was also a member of Church Women United of Abilene.

She is survived by her daughter Deon (Mike) Parsons of Abilene and son Duane (Linda) Ayre of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wayne. Also preceding her in death was her daughter Janet Yingling, her parents, three brothers, Myron (Jack) Greep, Kenneth Greep and Fred (Fritz) Greep and one sister, Hazel Coup.

Funeral services for Grace will 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Emmanuel Church of Abilene with Pastor Gordon McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Keystone Cemetery near Manchester. Family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m., until service time at the church.

Carolyn had a love for fashion which led her to a career in the clothing industry as manager and buyer for many years, retiring in 2011. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter Jacqueline O’Riley and husband Darin, son Kevin Pfannenstiel and wife Kathleen and son-in-law Matthew Howell,&nbsp; grandchildren Brittany Lawrence and husband Tyler, Brianna Augustine and husband Tyler, Riley Pfannenstiel and Ethan Pfannenstiel, great-grandchildren Taylee, Brydon, Kaden, Bryn, Karson, Emerie and Ezr, brothers Virgil Windholz and wife Lou, Otto Windholz Jr. and wife Jackie, sister Charlotte Blake and husband Don and brother-in-law Jerry Schmidtberger, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Howell, sister Louise Schmidtberger and her parents.

A private graveside service was held in Victoria, Kansas.

C. Stanley Nelson, 96, of Salina, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born May 19, 1925 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Carl and Hearty Nelson.

He was raised in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After spending a year as an undergraduate at KU, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943. He spent three years in the Pacific. Once WWII ended and he was discharged from the Marines, he went back to KU, finished his undergraduate degree, and graduated from the University of Kansas law school.

He married Rosemary Gaines in 1949. In 1950 they moved to Salina and he joined the law firm that is now known as Hampton &amp; Royce, where he spent over 60 years practicing law. They raised four sons. He was active in many community activities and held many leadership positions: Saline County Economic Development Council, YMCA, Salina Country Club, and Salina Chamber of Commerce.

C. Stanley brought joy to every group he was part of, whether at the office or with friends. He loved traveling to the Ozarks for many family boating and tennis-playing vacations and later on many overseas trips. He was a diehard Jayhawk fan and loved tailgating at KU football games for over 30 years. He loved Kansas basketball and had met Phog Allen on many occasions.

He had a very unique and healthy approach to life. He didn’t regret or reminisce about anything in the past, nor did he worry or even think about the future. He only focused on one day at a time.

Wherever he was, he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He loved meeting new people, asked a lot of questions, was a great listener, and left everyone feeling better. Though he didn’t use the phrase himself, he was the perfect example of someone who tried to be more interested than interesting.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Rosemary Gaines Nelson and his brother Arthur Nelson.

Survivors include four sons: Steve (and Sharon Persinger) of Salina, KS; Jeff (and wife Lisa) of Overland Park, KS; Mike (and Bridget Smithmier) of Leawood, KS; and Kendal (and Karen Williams) of Wichita, KS; as well as four grandchildren, Chris (and wife Michele) and Colby Nelson and Carley and Kate Nelson. Special recognition for the incredible relationship, companionship, and love of Ann Neumann of Salina, KS over the past ten years.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth. Private family burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Stanley Nelson, 96, of Salina, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born May 19, 1925 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Carl and Hearty Nelson.He was raised in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After spending a year as an undergraduate at KU, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943. He spent three years in the Pacific. Once WWII ended and he was discharged from the Marines, he went back to KU, finished his undergraduate degree, and graduated from the University of Kansas law school.He married Rosemary Gaines in 1949. In 1950 they moved to Salina and he joined the law firm that is now known as Hampton &amp; Royce, where he spent over 60 years practicing law. They raised four sons. He was active in many community activities and held many leadership positions: Saline County Economic Development Council, YMCA, Salina Country Club, and Salina Chamber of Commerce.C. Stanley brought joy to every group he was part of, whether at the office or with friends. He loved traveling to the Ozarks for many family boating and tennis-playing vacations and later on many overseas trips. He was a diehard Jayhawk fan and loved tailgating at KU football games for over 30 years. He loved Kansas basketball and had met Phog Allen on many occasions.He had a very unique and healthy approach to life. He didn’t regret or reminisce about anything in the past, nor did he worry or even think about the future. He only focused on one day at a time.Wherever he was, he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He loved meeting new people, asked a lot of questions, was a great listener, and left everyone feeling better. Though he didn’t use the phrase himself, he was the perfect example of someone who tried to be more interested than interesting.He was proceeded in death by his wife Rosemary Gaines Nelson and his brother Arthur Nelson.Survivors include four sons: Steve (and Sharon Persinger) of Salina, KS; Jeff (and wife Lisa) of Overland Park, KS; Mike (and Bridget Smithmier) of Leawood, KS; and Kendal (and Karen Williams) of Wichita, KS; as well as four grandchildren, Chris (and wife Michele) and Colby Nelson and Carley and Kate Nelson. Wes grew up in Salina, served in the U.S. Army and had a long career in law enforcement and retired as the security supervisor from K-State University-Salina.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Doyle and William "James". He is survived by his sisters Sharon (Glen) Barnum, Karen (Dennis) Krier and Carol (Mike) Hirsch and sister in laws Shelly Teel and Debbie Teel. Wes prided himself on being the uncle to nine nephews and three nieces as well as their many children. Wes had many special friends in his life. Many in the law enforcement community in Salina knew him as "Old Man River". They knew he often was watching and guarding their calls hoping to send them home safely. Shelly and John in dispatch always knew he was listening. He will also be missed very much by his dear friends Kip, Carol, Maxine and Eddie. &nbsp;

The family will honor Wesley with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Salina, Kansas 67401, with internment to follow at Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.

Michael Scott Hart, 70, died at his home May 26, 2021. Scott was born October 5, 1950, in Salina, Kansas to Willard and Ione (Nelson) Hart. Scott and his older brother, Jeff, grew up on the family’s farm near Barnard, Kansas. He attended grade school in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Following graduation Scott moved to Washington State to custom farm. In March 1969, Scott enrolled in flight lessons at Ellington, Washington, taking his first solo flight by the end of that month. By the following year, he had finished in time for the next crop to be harvested. Scott remained an aviation enthusiast and enjoyed flying to Oshkosh, Wisconsin every year for the annual air show.

Scott was drafted into the US Army in March of 1970. He was off to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina where he was trained as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged October 1972. His parting comment was, “I’ll never cut my hair again.”

The following year he enrolled at Fort Hays State College. During his year there, he met his future bride, Dianna Sue Stephen. The couple were married November 27, 1976 in the Bogue Community Methodist Church. To this union were born two children: Nathan and Megan.

The newlyweds made their home in Atwood for three years while Scott worked on a custom harvest crew. Dianna would always go along and recalled she did a great deal of “summer” reading. They traveled much of the Midwest during those summers; through Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Montana. The couple moved to Bogue in 1979. Scott began farming and running cattle with his father-in-law, Leon, and his brother-in-law Greg.

In May of 2016, Scott was involved in an accident on the farm that left him with deep second and third degree burns on 41 per cent of his body. He was hospitalized for 90 days and endured a long recovery. His faith and good humor got him through treatment and rehab making him stronger just as long as the therapists didn’t play country music! Many prayers were offered during this time not only from his friends and the good people of Graham County, but also from around the world.

Scott always enjoyed playing men’s softball and town team basketball. His orange Converse shoes were always part of the conversations during these games! He was a dedicated farmer and loved operating the combine during harvest. He was a giving and good-hearted soul, always willing to help anyone who asked or if he just saw the need. Shortly after the death of his brother-in-law Greg in 1993, Scott began EMS training and became an EMT. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years in Bogue. Scott was an active member of the Bogue Service Club, Methodist Church and the Masons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ione; his father-in-law, Leon Stephen; his brother-in-law, Gregory Stephen and wife Tammy.

Leaving to carry on his zest for life are his wife, Dianna of the home; children: Nathan and wife Megan, Bogue, Megan and husband Eric Nickelson, Rose Hill; grandchildren: Ella, Eva, Ethan and Ean Hart; Carsen, Ainsley, Charlotte and Cameron Nickelson; his brother Jeff Hart and wife Joy, Salina; nephews: Justin, Britton, Micah Hart and families; mother-in-law, Agnes Stephen, Stockton; sister-in-law Kim Nutting, Bogue and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. We can all hear him saying, “See ya around if you don’t get square.”

He also worked in maintenance at Central Plastics and in the oil fields as a driller and roughneck. Larry was born on January 16, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the son of Kermit P. and Sophia C. (Unruh) Becker. On October 6, 1957, Larry was united in marriage to Goldie Marie Clarkson in Larned, KS. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2013. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Canton American Legion and McPherson V.F.W. He attended Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson. Survivors include: four children, Reba Becker (Duane) of Lindsborg, KS, Stephanie Becker (Eric Peterson) of Olathe, KS, Justin Becker of Canton, KS, and Denise Taylor (Mike) of Canton, KS; siblings, Marion Becker (Carolyn) of Montezuma, KS, Gordon Becker (Carolyn) of Kirksey, KY, and Dale Becker (Joyce) of Siloam Springs, AR; a granddaughter, Monica Diederich; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Holly Leiker; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. He was a farmer and dairyman. He also worked in maintenance at Central Plastics and in the oil fields as a driller and roughneck. Larry was born on January 16, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the son of Kermit P. and Sophia C. (Unruh) Becker. On October 6, 1957, Larry was united in marriage to Goldie Marie Clarkson in Larned, KS. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2013. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Canton American Legion and McPherson V.F.W. He attended Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson. Survivors include: four children, Reba Becker (Duane) of Lindsborg, KS, Stephanie Becker (Eric Peterson) of Olathe, KS, Justin Becker of Canton, KS, and Denise Taylor (Mike) of Canton, KS; siblings, Marion Becker (Carolyn) of Montezuma, KS, Gordon Becker (Carolyn) of Kirksey, KY, and Dale Becker (Joyce) of Siloam Springs, AR; a granddaughter, Monica Diederich; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Holly Leiker; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Anna Christine Becker. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 7, at Countryside Covenant Church with Rev. Jon Black officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Canton Township Cemetery. Hillsboro - Shirley K. Bartel, 75, died May 30, 2021 at Salem Home in Hillsboro. She was born November 25, 1945 in McPherson County to Alvin and Mabel (Hanson) Johnson. She married Gilbert Bartel July 23, 1965 in McPherson. 

Survivors include: son Steve (Krista) Bartel of rural Hillsboro; daughters Kris Spence, Jenny (Jeff) Wells of McPherson; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Predeceased by her husband Gilbert Bartel in 2005.
