Jo Ellen Cooper, 69, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She worked as a middle school special education teacher for 11 years. Jo Ellen was born on September 28, 1951, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Marvin Edison and Joan Lillian (Johnson) Cooper. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. She was a former member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved to travel in her spare time. She is survived by a son, Clinton Rife, II (Skylar) of Bogue, KS; a brother, Jerry Cooper of Emporia, KS; and a granddaughter, Paisley Jo-Anna Rife, who was named after her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Eugene Cooper. There will be no service held at this time. Shirley (Bennett) Jamison, 92, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 at the Newmark Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the beloved wife of the late Max L. Jamison.

She is survived by her daughter, Candy Fasone of Kansas City, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Dowling of Montgomery City, MO; grandson , Adam (Heather) Dowling of Columbia, MO; and grandson, Brad Dowling of St. Charles, MO; three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Shirey, Abigail Kathleen and Emily Grace Dowling of Columbia, MO.&nbsp; Also surviving are her nieces, Debbie (Bennett) Copeland and husband Frank and family; Janie (Bennett) Leach and husband Mark and family and nephew, Mark Bennett.

Shirley and Max lived for 17 years in Liberty, MO and then moved to Mexico, MO.&nbsp; They lived together in Mexico until his death in 1991.&nbsp; She continued living there until she moved to Kansas City, MO to be with her daughter, Candy in 2011.&nbsp; Shirley was employed by Dr. R.L. Searfoss, O.D.. and Dr. David Luke, O.D. in Mexico, MO for many years.

Shirley was a “people person” and had a warm, friendly personality.&nbsp; She had many friends who will miss her dearly.&nbsp; Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and she spent as much time with them as she could. She enjoyed gardening and had a true “green thumb.”&nbsp; She also had a love of animals and had many pets throughout her lifetime.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Max L. Jamison; parents, Ethel and Jack Bennett; her brothers and sisters-in-law,&nbsp; Jack and Alyce Bennett and Morris and Betty Bennett and son-in law, Sal Fasone.&nbsp; She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. at the Chaput Mortuary, family will be present to receive friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 17h 2021 at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, Kansas with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;

Sharon K. (Coffman) Massey Countryman, 72, Kemp, OK passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 in Tulsa, OK. Sharon was born December 16, 1948 in Culver, Kansas to John Franklin and Leona (Sulsar) Coffman.

Sharon was a longtime employee of Walmart Super Center for 22 years. She loved working and meeting new people. She loved to read , go camping, fishing, taking vacations. Her favorite vacation spot was Florida with her kids. She enjoyed every moment she could spend with her family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her brother John Coffman; and her sisters Judy Welch and Betty Watson.

Survivors include her sister Leora (Coffman) and Bill Runkles; four children, Dina Dinkie and Bill Sherrell of Oklahoma, James Coffman of Virginia, Jill Berckefeldt of Kansas and Misty (Berckefeldt) Otieno of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild due in August.

At Sharon’s request, she was cremated and a service will be held at the Scout Hall in Markley Grove Park, Minneapolis,&nbsp;on Sunday April 18, 2021&nbsp;at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service and will be provided by the family.

Shortly after graduation she went to Colorado for a short time, then traveled to Galveston, Texas where she remained until three years ago. JaNelle spent most of life living it to the fullest, until she was diagnosed with COPD which made it difficult to do much. She worked hard and was a proud owner and operator for Bill's Western BBQ, Galveston, Texas. After she sold her business, she began a career with Time Warner Cable Company as a supervisor in Houston, Texas. JaNelle was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 366, Hillsboro, Kansas. JaNelle was a member of the First Christian Church in McPherson. JaNelle enjoyed partying and having fun with her friends and family. She is survived by her mother Nan Hale, of Inman, Kansas; her siblings, Kay Busby, of McPherson, Kansas and Larry Busby and his wife Jan, of McPherson, Kansas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. JaNelle was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father and her husband.

Margo Renae Franta-Abdalla passed away Saturday evening, April 10, 2021, in Humansville, MO at the Northwood Hills Care Center. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on October 18, 1958. She was the second of three daughters to Arnold and Peggy Franta. She graduated from Hickman Mills High School in 1977 and continued her education at&nbsp;Longview and Penn Valley Community Colleges in Kansas City, MO.

She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Luke’s hospital in Kansas City before her children were born. She was very proud of their accomplishments and her greatest joy was when she was able to spend time with them. 

Margo is survived by three daughters, Laura Franta-Abdalla (Steve Seh), Sarah Abdalla, and Rebeka Jones (Atlanta, GA), and one son Michael Jones (Miami, FL); two sisters, Karla(Craig) Wilson, Bolivar, MO, and Celeste (Ken) Barry, Norris, TN; four nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Arnold “Arnie” and Margaret “Peggy” Franta. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her warm sense of humor, and her indomitable spirit. May she live on in all that knew and loved her.

Margo was an adventurous person, charismatic and generous, deeply caring about the people she knew. She graduated from Hickman Mills High School in 1977 and continued her education at&nbsp;Longview and Penn Valley Community Colleges in Kansas City, MO.She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Luke’s hospital in Kansas City before her children were born. She was very proud of their accomplishments and her greatest joy was when she was able to spend time with them. Margo is survived by three daughters, Laura Franta-Abdalla (Steve Seh), Sarah Abdalla, and Rebeka Jones (Atlanta, GA), and one son Michael Jones (Miami, FL); two sisters, Karla(Craig) Wilson, Bolivar, MO, and Celeste (Ken) Barry, Norris, TN; four nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Arnold “Arnie” and Margaret “Peggy” Franta. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her warm sense of humor, and her indomitable spirit. Joleen K. Baxa was born on March 11, 1950, in Belleville, the daughter of Vernon &amp; Melva (Kopsa) Havel. Joleen grew up in Cuba, and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968. Following high school, Joleen attended Emporia State University.

Joleen married Terence L. Baxa on November 6, 1975, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Joleen was working for the National Guard in Topeka while she was dating Terry, and decided that the commute from Topeka to Cuba was too long, so Joleen relocated to Salina, and started her career with the U.S. Postal Service. Joleen rose steadily through the ranks of the postal services, working in many locations, and retiring as a district manager. Following her retirement, Terry and Joleen relocated to Belleville, and Joleen started working for Netflix, central division.

During her free time, Joleen enjoyed spending time with her many friends, gardening, cooking, and loving her four-legged daughter, Lily Jo.

Joleen passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 22 days.

She was preceded in death by her father Vernon, step-father Jack Parrack, and sister Linda Allday.

She will be forever remembered by her husband of 45 years, Terry, her sister Peggy Humpert and her husband Lyle of Tescott, Kansas, brother-in-law Barry Baxa and his wife Rita of Cuba, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Cremation services were chosen, with a memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cuba Presbyterian Church.

Melva Jane Parrack was born on April 21, 1924, on the family farm near Cuba, to Jerry and Julia Nettie (Svoboda) Kopsa. Melva attended Beebee Country School, and then graduated from Cuba High School, class of 1942.

Melva was united in marriage to Vernon Glen Havel on March 10, 1942, in Fairbury. To this union, three daughters were born, Linda, Joleen and Peggy. Melva worked in the Cuba telephone office before relocating to Douglas, Arizona, when Vernon was called up to active duty, where she worked for the War Services Department as a teletypist.

Following the war, Vernon and Melva returned to Cuba, where they purchased and operated Havel’s Café for over 11 years. Vernon passed away on November 28, 1969. Melva remarried to Dennis Jack Parrack on September 6, 1974, in Cuba. Jack passed away July 30, 1978.

Melva retired from the Belleville Port of Entry. In retirement, Melva enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, and supporting her hometown. She was a charter member of the VW Club in Cuba, and was also a member of the TOPS club. Melva was also a member of the Cuba Presbyterian Church.

Melva passed away on February 18, 2021, at the age of 96 years, 9 months and 28 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Vernon and Jack, daughter Linda Allday in 2015, daughter Joleen Baxa in December 2020, brother Dennis Kopsa in December 2020, and an infant sister Doris.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Peggy Humpert and her husband Lyle of Tescott, Kansas, son-in-law Terry Baxa of Belleville, brother Jerry Kopsa and his wife Pat of Belleville; four grandchildren, 10 grea- grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a community of friends.

James “Jim” B. Batson, 87, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital. 

He worked for over 35 years at Kansas Power &amp; Light where he was a welding supervisor. Jim was born on June 21, 1933, in Wellington, KS, the son of William Lee and Erma Fae (Turpin) Batson. He graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College. On July 5, 1952, Jim was united in marriage to Lucille W. Flory in McPherson. He was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren. He was an avid golfer and was the first member of Turkey Creek Golf Course. He enjoyed racing go-carts, water skiing, and boating. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille of the home; three children, Cindy Kaufman (Cameron) of Buhler, KS, Janet Barthman (Mike) of Abilene, KS, and Bruce Batson of Wichita, KS; a brother, Jerry Batson of McPherson, KS; special friends, Harold and Penny Selzer of McPherson, KS; 12 grandchildren, Chris Cheesman (Mandy), Joseph Kaufman (Blanca), Katie Heller (Joe), Ian Tinsley (Bridgette), Brook Batson, Nick Batson, Stefanie Osborne (Dave), Jeremy Batson (Ashley), Eric Batson, Kelly Batson, Erica Selzer, and Patrick Selzer (Katie); and 12 great-grandchildren. Batson, 87, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital. He worked for over 35 years at Kansas Power &amp; Light where he was a welding supervisor. Jim was born on June 21, 1933, in Wellington, KS, the son of William Lee and Erma Fae (Turpin) Batson. He graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College. On July 5, 1952, Jim was united in marriage to Lucille W. Flory in McPherson. He was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren. He was an avid golfer and was the first member of Turkey Creek Golf Course. He enjoyed racing go-carts, water skiing, and boating. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille of the home; three children, Cindy Kaufman (Cameron) of Buhler, KS, Janet Barthman (Mike) of Abilene, KS, and Bruce Batson of Wichita, KS; a brother, Jerry Batson of McPherson, KS; special friends, Harold and Penny Selzer of McPherson, KS; 12 grandchildren, Chris Cheesman (Mandy), Joseph Kaufman (Blanca), Katie Heller (Joe), Ian Tinsley (Bridgette), Brook Batson, Nick Batson, Stefanie Osborne (Dave), Jeremy Batson (Ashley), Eric Batson, Kelly Batson, Erica Selzer, and Patrick Selzer (Katie); and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William Batson and Donald Batson; and a son, Wayne Batson. Troy Lee Hoffman, 47, of Abilene KS, passed away on April 8, 2021. Troy was born on June 1, 1973 to Larry and Kim Hoffman. Troy was raised by Larry and June Hoffman of Abilene, KS. Kim McAsey also contributed a large role in Troy’s early life. After graduating from Abilene High School, he went on to study Auto Collision Repair at Salina Vo-Tech.

Troy was a very loving and dedicated father. Troy and Lora welcomed Tori Sue Hoffman on May 12, 2010. Tori and Troy enjoyed many activities together, including riding scooters at Browns Park or ending the day with ice cream from Dairy Queen. Troy treasured his time with Tori and embraced every moment with her. Outside of spending time with his daughter, Troy enjoyed watching NASCAR races, making improvements to his farmhouse, or spending time at his pond, which he took extreme pride in since he created the pond himself.

Troy was preceded in death by father, Larry Hoffman, grandfather, Leroy Jr. Hoffman, and grandmother, Leta Corbett.

Troy is survived by daughter Tori Hoffman, step-daughter Kathryn Fink and their mother Lora Simmons, Abilene, KS; mother, June Hoffman, Chapman, KS; sisters Kylie Haws and husband, Brett, Marion, KS; Courtney Hoffman and fiancé, Tony, Salina, KS; brothers Casey Hoffman, Manhattan, KS; Clay Hirt and fiancé Jamie, Chapman, KS; Corey Hirt and wife Robin Hirt, Lebo, KS, grandmother, Dottie Hoffman, Abilene, KS.

She met and married Dennis L. Willis on November 11, 1972, at the Englewood Wesleyan Church in Phillips County, KS.&nbsp;

Kathy loved to keep busy with handiwork.&nbsp; She loved sewing, 
crocheting, and creating dream catchers.&nbsp; All of which were shared with 
family and friends.&nbsp; She also liked to take time during her day to sit 
and watch the birds and squirrels in the yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters Violet Sue and Pearl Mae; and brothers, Allan and Elbert Lee Gitchel.

Survivors include her husband Dennis L. of the home; daughters Amber 
Joy Clark of Walla Walla, WA and Dawn Marie Osbern of MN; 6 
grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother Delbert Gitchel of 
Wilcox, NE; and two sisters Eileen Branstetter of Salina, KS and Lois 
Haas of Phillipsburg, KS.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. 
Saturday, May 8, 2021 in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, KS.&nbsp; The

She worked for Raytheon Aircraft for 19 years in various departments but retired in 1986 as a supervisor in the upholstery department. After retirement, Kathleen worked at Sam’s Club as a “Food Sampler Demonstrator”, encouraging people to try the various sample products.&nbsp;

Kathleen was a people person, and always willing to help others. Her true passion showed when she tended to her flowers in her garden and while working in her yard.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Edward E., and Lavergne E. Zink, her beloved husband, Richard K. Harlowe, and 2 brothers, Francis X., and John Zink.

Survivors include her only son, Vernon “Ed” Harlowe of Salina, nieces, Margaret Lafferty, and Mary White, both of Wichita, Nancy Donahey of Lawrence, Kathleen Morrison of Boulder CO., and many other great nieces and nephews, as well as friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2012 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, also at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Eric G. Pridey, 53, of Salina, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021.&nbsp; He was born November 24, 1967 in Salina, to Elwyn and Ann Louise (Geisler) Pridey.

Survivors include his siblings, Ann Marie Boyce (Larry), of Tulsa, OK., Kathryn Pridey (Ed Lewek), of Fairport, NY, Roger Pridey (Joanne), of Salina, KS,

Ron Pridey (Melody Julian), of Laramie, WY; and his adored nieces and nephews, Olivia, Amanda, Megan, Kendle, Caleb, Kara, Casey, Chloe, Viviana,&nbsp;Oskar, Briella, Reese, Bristol, and Kathryn. In addition to other close relatives, Eric leaves behind a multitude of friends to mourn his passing.

Eric grew up in Delphos, Kansas.&nbsp; He attended Glasco Grade School and graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1986.&nbsp; He went on to attend Kansas State University.

Despite being disabled at the age of 16, Eric's pace on his earthly journey never slowed.&nbsp; Eric was very charismatic and made friends easily. His personality was an&nbsp;asset as a sales rep for various companies during his working career.

&nbsp;Eric was a diehard sports fan, and loved watching all college and professional sports, especially his KSU Wildcats.

He helped coach little league sports for many years and played on a wheelchair rugby team that traveled throughout the states.&nbsp; Eric was a lifelong&nbsp;Methodist church member.  He volunteered at the Good Samaritan Senior Center in Minneapolis, reading newspapers and&nbsp;scripture to residents on a regular basis.  Eric was also devoted to his feline friends, Callie and Cherry Bomb.   

A celebration of Eric's life will take place at a later date.

Ruth E. (Stanley) Copple, 65, Minneapolis, died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; Ruth was born August 12, 1955 in Lincoln to John and Wilma (Gray) Stanley.

Ruth and Gary Copple were united in marriage on October 1, 1977 in Minneapolis.&nbsp; She worked at the Good Samaritan Society for 30 years; retiring in 2014.&nbsp; Since retirement, Ruth and Gary were camp hosts at Glen Elder State Park.&nbsp; After Gary passed away in 2019, Ruth continued to camp host for two more years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Gary and best friend of 41 years; brothers, Melvin, Dick, Jerry, and Harry; infant sisters, Estella and Peggy; sister-in-law, Virginia Stanley; and brother-in-law, Bill Bell.

Survivors are her sons, Tommy and Laura Copple and Mitchell and JoDee Copple; brothers, William (Ed) and Christel and Russell and Kim; sister, Joyce; grandchildren, Cody, Tessa, Lane, Ethan, Bristol, Brantley, and Braden; great-grandchildren, Avery and Wyatt; nearly 200 nieces and nephews; her lake family; and a host of other family and friends.

At Ruth’s request, she was cremated and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24 at the Delphos Cemetery.&nbsp; A gathering and luncheon, provided by the family, will be held immediately after the service at the Delphos Auditorium.&nbsp; 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glen Elder State Park and be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.

Ralph was born northwest of Formoso. The family later moved to south of Montrose, where he attended school and graduated in 1942.Coyote hunting was one of his favorite pastimes when he was growing up. He took in all of the hunts within 25-30 miles. His nickname growing up was Rats, the basketball coach called him that, but he never knew why. He was proud of his high school athletic accomplishments.After Ralph and Joy were married in 1946, they began to follow his childhood dream of farming southwest of Montrose. They later moved to the current homestead on the hill. It was through his love of farming and livestock that he instilled (demanded) the hard work ethic in his children. One of the fond memories he had was all of his children drove the 9N Ford Tractor easily. Ralph loved being a wheat farmer, and often said “If it wasn’t for crop rotation, I would never plant anything but wheat.”Ralph and Joy enjoyed taking bus trips, traveling to see the countryside. Through the years, Ralph enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and KU Jayhawks men’s basketball.Ralph continued his love of farming actively through fall harvest of 2020, driving the tractor and grain cart for 40 straight days.Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years Joy Kathleen Saint, brothers Robert and Edwin; sisters Ruby Lang, Adeline Morris, Eloise Rockey; and two infant brothers.Ralph is survived by his children: Karla (Mike) Little of Chanute; Jana (Darrell) Carlson of Courtland; Steve (Loreita) Dunstan of Formoso; Lori (Rob) Bonjour of Formoso; Eldon (Pam) Dunstan of Mankato; and Kristi (Brian) Badger of Mankato.He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brian (Kristen) Little, Amy Little, Nikki Little, Brent (Paula) Carlson, Derek (Audrey) Carlson, Mindy (Jim) Tighe, Russ (Kayla) Dunstan, Tyler (Courtney) Dunstan, Neil (Sierra) Bonjour, Kaylene (Caleb) Ramsey, Brooke Callaway and her fiancé Bryan Randa, Kaitlyn (Nick) Dunn, Baylie (Yani) Wolf, Karrigan Dunstan, Adam (Megan) Badger, and Alex (Kaylee) Badger.
