Diana Marie (Bradley) Walquist, passed away at home in Clay Center, under the care of hospice on Friday, September 24, 2021.
She was born December 27, 1945, the daughter of Lorena Folsom. Raised in Clay Center, she graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart Warren “Butch” Walquist on April 25, 1964. He preceded her in death February 9th, 2016, after more than 50 years of marriage.
They lived in Manhattan, KS a few years before moving to Topeka, where she worked as an insurance underwriter. In 1976, they returned to Clay Center to operate the family farm, and raise their children. Diana worked at Hutchinson-Mayrath for 37 years, retiring as director of purchasing in 2015.
She loved her family above all, attending every sporting event/performance she could. After retiring, she loved visiting family, traveling with friends, and volunteering her time at the Lighthouse for Christ. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters Dana (Craig) Rickley of Clay Center, and Catherine (Joe) Hieger of Mt. Hope, KS; five grandchildren: Brett and Thomas Rickley, and Jill, Karen, and Megan Hieger; her sister, Connie (Gary) Tittlel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September, 28, 2021 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
A graveside memorial service for Diana and Butch will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Appleton Cemetery, north of Green, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse for Christ, Meadowlark Hospice, and/or C.C.A.R.E. and can be sent in care of the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
