Caren J. Gross, 74 of Solomon passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Salina Regional Hospital in Salina. She was born August 5, 1946 in Salina, the daughter of William and Estelle (Johnson) Crowdus. 

Caren grew up in Solomon and graduated from Solomon High School in 1964. She worked as a SRS administrative assistant in Salina. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa DeMars of Solomon and Jennifer Gross of Salina. Three grandchildren: Mason DeMars, Hadley Lawson and Hayden Lawson. One sister Carol Simpson of Columbia, Missouri and numerous friends who she loved like family. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Caren’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service for Caren will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon next to her mom, Estelle. 

The family suggests memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, PO Box 308, Solomon, Kansas 67480.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jackie Younger, Salina, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 93.

Jackie was born January 6, 1928 on a farm near Mentor. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Salina where she lived the rest of her life.

She was the seventh of eight daughters born to Jacob &amp; Hilda (Higgs) Ringquist.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paul Younger.

Survivors include her children Coby of Salina, Paula and Andy Harrelson of New Orleans, Marcy Arnold of Salina, granddaughter Sarah Reinert of Salina, numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Andy W. Friesen was born in Hillsboro, KS at home with a midwife to Jesse and Lydia (Wiens) Friesen on November 20, 1935. He had four brothers and two sisters; he was the sixth child born. 

They spent a lot of time working hard at their dad’s blacksmith shop. This is where he developed his work ethic (no wages were given). During harvest, he remembered hundreds of plow shears being brought in that he would sharpen. He also remembered traveling the state with his brother Vernon to tear down oil derricks for steel. He was proud to state “he could weld anything for anybody.” When he wasn’t welding, he enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers.

Andy accepted Jesus at a young age with the guidance of his brother Vernon. He was baptized at Schlehuber Lake by Reverend Waldo Hiebert on September 7, 1952 and joined Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. He was a member at this church until they joined First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita in 2007.

Andy attended Hillsboro elementary schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He held pole vaulting and free throw records. Academics were not his strong point but “common sense” treated him well. He attended Tabor College for one year and played basketball there.

He married his high school sweetheart Bonnie Delight Harder on March 1, 1957. He was a mere 21 years old and Bonnie was 19. Bonnie says they would have married earlier but Andy’s dad said he had to wait until he could sign the legal documents himself. Andy and Bonnie were blessed with two daughters, Christy and Shelley. In their 64 years of marriage, they traveled the world together and made wonderful memories.

Andy served his country by doing 1-W service for two years in Denver, CO during the Korean War. He worked as a hospital orderly and shared an apartment with five other friends who were serving with him. His culinary skills shined as he baked pies often for his roommates. After six months he married Bonnie and they lived in an apartment for the rest of his service commitment.

After returning to Hillsboro he worked in the blacksmith shop. His injured back forced him to find different employment. He went to work for his brother Alfred at Friesen’s Jewelers. He became an excellent watch maker and goldsmith. He could tell you the exact quality of any diamond. After seven years he and Alfred purchased Friesen’s (Franz) Furniture and Andy ran that business until his retirement. 

He enjoyed serving the Hillsboro community and prided himself on always having a good work ethic. His philosophy was “when you work, work hard, and when you play, play hard.”

Andy played hard! His love of fishing and nature was well known to anyone that knew him. He spent countless hours on the water or in deer stands with Harry Thye, Bill Harmon, Paul Lange, and Tim Sullivan. He never could get enough. He supplied many friends, relatives, and neighbors with freshly cleaned fish. He literally fished around the world. Andy and his family enjoyed many camping trips. Their favorite spot was Milford Lake. The huge sand dunes provided great motorcycle challenges.

He also loved to play his trumpet and shared his talents at many weddings, funerals, and church services. He even took his trumpet to Russia on a Tabor College alumni choir tour. Andy also enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He was a daredevil; he did diving exhibitions and motorcycle enduros.

Especially in his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking. He hand-built furniture for each of his children and grandchildren and even a couple of pieces for his great-grandchildren. His attention to detail was amazing. He could build, fix, or make anything with his hands.

In 2006 he and Bonnie moved to Wichita to be closer to family. They took multiple mission trips with “Volunteers in Missions,” and shared their skills with many. They enjoyed serving with Bonnie’s sister Betty (Lange) and Don Freuchting.

Andy and Bonnie moved to Schowalter Senior Care Facility in January of 2020, due to multiple health issues. 

Andy passed away peacefully on April 17, 2021. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Lydia Friesen and four siblings. Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Christy Jewell; daughter, Shelley Funk and her husband Wendell; two grandchildren, Jordan Funk (Melissa) and Taylor Gould (Garrett); five great-grandchildren, Cora, Finley, Lily, Luke, and Griffin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful help and care given by Dr. Jeff Reiswig, Schowalter Villa, and Harry Hynes Hospice.

Wilda J. Waldmann was born on May 31, 1945 in Stromsberg, Nebraska, the daughter of Gust and Ceva Dolphe Carlson. She died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 75.

She grew up and attended country school, as well as Osceola High School. Following her graduation, she attended college where she earned her education in nursing.

On December 28, 1968, she was married to Ronald Waldmann in Shelby, Nebraska. She worked in a bank, and as soon as their family grew, she stayed home to take care of her children, Michelle and Jason. They moved to Beloit in 1986, and later to Lincoln and Simpson, before returning to Beloit. She also served many years as a CNA in a nursing home.

In her spare time, she enjoyed doing cross-stitch and needlepoint, and loved her many adult coloring books.

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Gary Korte.

She is survived by her husband Ronald of the home; her daughter Michelle and significant other Joe Sebastian of Sacramento, CA; her son, Jason and wife Mary Spiro and her children Sam and Acacia of Pikesville, MD; two sisters, Marlene Carlson of Aurora, CO and Marsha Korte of Oxford, NE; nieces, Tammy Korte and Lesha (Ron) Murphy and their children Kortlan and Merric; and sisters-in-law, Barb (Alvin) Leska of Sargeant, NE, Kathy (Rick) Sibbel of Ankeny, IA, and Jackie (Mark) Schmidt of Hastings, NE.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 20 at the St. John's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Church.

Phyllis L. File was born on September 11, 1938 on the family farm outside of Aurora, Kansas, the middle daughter to Felix and Adele Zimmer Forgue. She died early Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 82.

She grew up and attended country school, as well as Aurora High School, where she was named the Winter Sports Homecoming Queen, and graduated in 1956. Following graduation, she moved to Concordia, where she worked in the corporate office of Boogaarts for 10 years before getting moved to Beloit. While there, she ran the business machines and processed accounts for vendors, as well as the company payroll. She also enjoyed bowling on the Boogaarts women's team, which also won the league championship.

In early 1965, she met Dickie File in Concordia at various clubs as they attended dances with friends. They were married on July 30, 1966 in Concordia. One son, Bruce was born to this union.

They lived in Beloit for three years, and then in the spring of 1970, moved into the File family farm house. Their family lived there until Dick’s passing in 2012, and their son Bruce currently lives there.

Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother, and loved her family and family get-togethers. She always had a large vegetable garden in the summer, a flower garden, and strawberry patch. She did lots of canning in the summer and fall. During harvest, she always drove grain trucks, and cooked many meals for the harvest crews. Additionally, she cooked at the Sale Barn Café in Beloit for many years, as well as at the Beloit Elks Club. She also worked in the kitchen at the Youth Center of Beloit, where she retired after 20 years.

Dickie and Phyllis also enjoyed traveling in their spare time, as they took many trips to the western U.S., including the Rockies, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Black Hills. She also met Dickie in Washington, D.C. after his ride in the tractorcade as part of the American Agriculture Movement in 1979.

In addition to her husband Dickie, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, LeAnna and her husband Bob; and sister-in-law, Lois Krone.

Phyllis is survived by her son Bruce of Beloit; sister, Janice (Chuck) Nunn of Garden City; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Larry) Schlaefli of Hays, and Irma (Steve) Davison of Washington state; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at St. John's Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 1-7&nbsp; p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Memorial Trust Fund or Resident Care Center.

Their family lived there until Dick’s passing in 2012, and their son Bruce currently lives there.Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother, and loved her family and family get-togethers. She always had a large vegetable garden in the summer, a flower garden, and strawberry patch. She did lots of canning in the summer and fall. During harvest, she always drove grain trucks, and cooked many meals for the harvest crews. Additionally, she cooked at the Sale Barn Café in Beloit for many years, as well as at the Beloit Elks Club. She also worked in the kitchen at the Youth Center of Beloit, where she retired after 20 years.Dickie and Phyllis also enjoyed traveling in their spare time, as they took many trips to the western U.S., including the Rockies, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Black Hills. She also met Dickie in Washington, D.C. after his ride in the tractorcade as part of the American Agriculture Movement in 1979.In addition to her husband Dickie, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, LeAnna and her husband Bob; and sister-in-law, Lois Krone.Phyllis is survived by her son Bruce of Beloit; sister, Janice (Chuck) Nunn of Garden City; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Larry) Schlaefli of Hays, and Irma (Steve) Davison of Washington state; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at St. John's Catholic Church. Cheri Lynne Corbin-Welborn of White City died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 peacefully at her home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheri was born October 29, 1948 in Emporia, Kansas to Leroy Corbin Jr. and Naoma Christine Walker.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheri graduated in 1966 from Emporia High School and attended Emporia State University.

Cheri was a long-time employee at Dolly Madison where she enjoyed making everyone smile and enjoyed singing on the line.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheri moved to Florida where she was proud of working at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.&nbsp;&nbsp;After returning to Kansas, she took a yearly vacation to Disney World taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy the experience with her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheri loved her family and talked often about when she worked with her brother Steve at his club in Emporia.&nbsp;&nbsp;The 4th&nbsp;of July was an important holiday for Cheri and every year had her family come for a bbq and to watch the White City fireworks show.&nbsp;&nbsp;She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren during the summers.

Cheri is survived by her husband Daryl Welborn of White City, KS;&nbsp;&nbsp;daughters Christy Dougherty of Olathe, KS, Dawn Aye of Emporia, KS, Stacie Sharp of Emporia, KS, Aubrey Schenker of Champlin, MN, and Sheena McIntire of Opelika, AL.&nbsp;&nbsp;She is also survived by 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cheri is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Steve Corbin, sister Connie Seaton, and her sons Robert Allen and Joshua Welborn.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Jim was born to Ellen and (Loy) Eldon Stolzenburg in 1947. He graduated from Agenda high school, attended Beloit Vo-Tech to study HVAC, then entered into the Air Force where he was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. He married MaryMar Mitchell in 1968.&nbsp; To this union were blessed two boys, Jay and Mark.

He made a living by working for many years in auto repair in Clyde and parts delivery and sales.&nbsp; He and MaryMar owned and operated the service station in Clyde in the 1980s. &nbsp;

Jim was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his sons and their families as well as his brother and his families.&nbsp; He wanted to make sure his sons knew from where they came and rarely missed a family reunion or holiday celebration.&nbsp; His vacation spot of choice was camping at the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp;

 One of his favorite family hobbies was stock car racing which was is his blood and has been passed down to his sons and grandson.&nbsp; Countless hours were spent since 1976 building and racing the #5 car.&nbsp; He raced at numerous tracks in Nebraska and Kansas, spending most of his race nights at Salina Speedway which he considered his home track.

Following the death of his beloved MaryMar, Jim married Dianna McDaniel in 2013.&nbsp; They enjoyed going to car races, and spending time with their families.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna of the home; son Jay and his wife, Susan of Salina; son Mark and his wife, Michelle of McPherson; brother Don and his wife Lana of Ames, Kansas. Grandchildren, Jared, Shelby, Kylie, Gage, Vin, Cam, Dash and Sophia and great granddaughter, Riley; numerous nieces and nephews; stepson, Eric and his wife Kristy of Concordia; stepson Jeff of Clyde; stepson Ryan and his wife, Connie of Clay Center, seven stepgrandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, MaryMar, and stepson, Chad.

Howard grew up in the Chapman area, attended the local schools and graduated from Chapman High School in 1954.

 In May of 1957 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Brase, later divorcing and he married Ada Zornes in February of 1979. She preceded him in death April of 2011. Howard was a farmer and also worked for the Kansas Highway Department and later for Costal Mart. 

Howard is survived by his children: Shari Cooper (Lance) of Overland Park, Kansas; Teresa Warnock (Kevin Walters); Michelle Warnock (Shawn Keisling); Roxanna Siegrist (John) of Snohomish, Washington; Dianna Charland (John) of Junction City, Kansas; Douglas Mancuso of Junction City, Kansas; Gregory Mancuso of Herington, Kansas. Geneva “Genny” Dawson, the daughter of Harold, Jr. and Margaret (Murphy) Connet, took her first breath into this world, October 15, 1937 in Manhattan, Kansas. Genny took her last breath on earth after enduring nine long years of dementia and labored breathing all day in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. For her body called it quits at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021.

She lived a beautiful long life full of many trials and tribulations, growing up with Christ in the center of her heart she was able to lead many to Christ through her love and conquer any trial that was put in her path. 

After marrying her first love, Burl Dawson, whom preceded her in death on February 25, 1956, she had two beautiful talented children, Guy Dawson whom preceded her in death 23 years ago and Gayle Ward, to which she survives along with husband Brian Ward in Salina. 

Later, June 6, 1958, she married Kenneth "Kenny" Dawson in Abilene. He survives of the home. Together they had five more children, still all surviving, which include her daughters Sue Gilbreath and her husband Mike of Olathe, Kansas, Gina and her husband Dusty Kuntz of Abilene, sons Scott and his wife Maureen Dawson of Abilene, Grant Dawson and his wife Terri of Salina, Josh Dawson and his wife Deanna of Bennington, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Following graduation at Abilene High School, Genny received her cosmetology degree. She worked for Rhea Millham from 1969 – 1971 and was a bookkeeper for Ken Dawson Construction from 1971 – 1974. Genny then started Genny’s Country Cupboard in 1976, along with her dream of opening a bakery within where she became known as “The Cinnamon Roll Lady" making GENNY'S famous cinnamon rolls for 24 ½ years until her retirement in 2000.

You could always find Genny in an apron as she enjoyed baking and cooking, not only for her large family but for friends and the community. If she baked goodies for you, you better believe there was love put into it because you see, love was Mom's secret ingredient for all her recipes. "If you don't make it with love, it'll never turn out just right" she always said. 

But her true passion was her love for Christ. Up until her last months, she could still tell you in complete details how Jesus came to see her at age five in her basement bedroom at 805 Bluemont in Manhattan, telling her He loved her. She has lived and believed this her whole life. His love has shined through her eyes and poured out of her onto others. 

Her family, especially rocking her babies, being a mom, grandma and wife, were her biggest joys in life. Along with her first husband Burl and son Guy, she was preceded in death by her brothers Jerry Connet, and Murel Connet, and sister Judy Fells, and her parents.

.Mom was loved by many, but there was no greater love than the love shown by Dad, during her last years. He was an example of the love of Christ, how love bears all things, believes all things and endures all things.

Services for Genny will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Keith Less, Pastor Lindsey Brummer and Mr. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the Abilene Cemetery immediately following. A luncheon will be provided at the Elks for family and friends to continue rejoicing farewell to her at her request. "With lots of prayers, songs and memories to all I love and enjoy doing for in my lifetime."

Genny took her last breath on earth after enduring nine long years of dementia and labored breathing all day in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. For her body called it quits at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021.She lived a beautiful long life full of many trials and tribulations, growing up with Christ in the center of her heart she was able to lead many to Christ through her love and conquer any trial that was put in her path. After marrying her first love, Burl Dawson, whom preceded her in death on February 25, 1956, she had two beautiful talented children, Guy Dawson whom preceded her in death 23 years ago and Gayle Ward, to which she survives along with husband Brian Ward in Salina. Later, June 6, 1958, she married Kenneth "Kenny" Dawson in Abilene. He survives of the home. Together they had five more children, still all surviving, which include her daughters Sue Gilbreath and her husband Mike of Olathe, Kansas, Gina and her husband Dusty Kuntz of Abilene, sons Scott and his wife Maureen Dawson of Abilene, Grant Dawson and his wife Terri of Salina, Josh Dawson and his wife Deanna of Bennington, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.Following graduation at Abilene High School, Genny received her cosmetology degree. She worked for Rhea Millham from 1969 – 1971 and was a bookkeeper for Ken Dawson Construction from 1971 – 1974. Genny then started Genny’s Country Cupboard in 1976, along with her dream of opening a bakery within where she became known as “The Cinnamon Roll Lady" making GENNY'S famous cinnamon rolls for 24 ½ years until her retirement in 2000.You could always find Genny in an apron as she enjoyed baking and cooking, not only for her large family but for friends and the community. If she baked goodies for you, you better believe there was love put into it because you see, love was Mom's secret ingredient for all her recipes. "If you don't make it with love, it'll never turn out just right" she always said. But her true passion was her love for Christ. Up until her last months, she could still tell you in complete details how Jesus came to see her at age five in her basement bedroom at 805 Bluemont in Manhattan, telling her He loved her. She has lived and believed this her whole life. His love has shined through her eyes and poured out of her onto others. Her family, especially rocking her babies, being a mom, grandma and wife, were her biggest joys in life. Along with her first husband Burl and son Guy, she was preceded in death by her brothers Jerry Connet, and Murel Connet, and sister Judy Fells, and her parents. .Mom was loved by many, but there was no greater love than the love shown by Dad, during her last years. He was an example of the love of Christ, how love bears all things, believes all things and endures all things.Services for Genny will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Keith Less, Pastor Lindsey Brummer and Mr. Tim Johnson officiating. Jim was born to Ellen and (Loy) Eldon Stolzenburg in 1947. He graduated from Agenda High School, attended Beloit Vo-Tech to study HVAC, then entered into the Air Force where he was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. He married MaryMar Mitchell in 1968.&nbsp; To this union were blessed two boys, Jay and Mark.

He made a living by working for many years in auto repair in Clyde and parts delivery and sales.&nbsp; He and MaryMar owned and operated the service station in Clyde in the 1980s. &nbsp;Jim was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his sons and their families as well as his brother and his families.&nbsp; He wanted to make sure his sons knew from where they came and rarely missed a family reunion or holiday celebration.&nbsp; His vacation spot of choice was camping at the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Dianna of the home; son Jay and his wife, Susan of Salina; son Mark and his wife, Michelle of McPherson; brother Don and his wife Lana of Ames, Kansas. Grandchildren, Jared, Shelby, Kylie, Gage, Vin, Cam, Dash and Sophia and great granddaughter, Riley; numerous nieces and nephews; stepson, Eric and his wife Kristy of Concordia; stepson Jeff of Clyde; stepson Ryan and his wife, Connie of Clay Center, seven step grandchildren and four step great- grandchildren.

Ernest “Ernie” Anthony DiNella, 77, of McPherson, KS and formerly of California, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and serving from 1961 to 1981, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ernest was born on September 1, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Vincenzo and Mary Rita (Morone) DiNella. He attended Bishop Neumann High School in Philadelphia and later earned his Associate of Arts degree from the Inter-American University in Puerto Rico. Ernie was united in marriage to Linda Jean Unger on February 6, 1965, in Elkton, MD. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1990. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson. Survivors include: three daughters, Andrea Ferguson (John) of McPherson, KS, Christina Fazio of San Clemente, CA, and Linda Jean Hall (Jerry) of San Juan Capistrano, CA; two brothers, Bruno DiNella (Karen) of Rosemount, MN and Frank DiNella (Betty) of Spring Hill, FL; five grandchildren, Briana Dooley (Bret), Ian Ferguson, Maresa Fazio, Kieli Hall, and Codi Hall; and many extended family and friends. Carla is survived by her daughter, Heather Westbrook (Chad) of Lindsborg, KS; son, Eric Nienke (Randi) of Ellsworth; daughter, Kim Schneider of Kanopolis, KS; son, Jake Schneider (Kim) of Carneiro, KS; grandchildren, Kylie, Gus, Roselyn, Kaeden, Elliette, Holton, David, Dannie, Derek, and Jayden; brothers, Jim (Pam), Gary (Becky), and Steve (Gale); and sister, Paula Soukup. Yvonne “Vonnie” Fortney Jones, age 83, passed from this life to eternal glory on April 16, 2021 at RCC in Beloit.&nbsp; Born to Joe and Georgia (Ehrlich) Fortney on Sept. 29, 1937, she spent her early years in several different cities and states.&nbsp; When she was just over a year old,&nbsp; her sister Barbara was born and the two became fast and lifelong friends in addition to being sisters. Vonnie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

When Vonnie was just age 9, her daddy passed away and the family returned to Russell, KS, the family home.&nbsp; A good student, as Vonnie entered high school, she enjoyed Luther League, reading, and began work at the Russell Library.&nbsp;

After high School graduation, Vonnie attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska.&nbsp; While home the summer after her freshman year, she met Theador “Ted” Jones and they were married on June 22, 1957, spending 58 years together.&nbsp; They were blessed with three children:&nbsp; Jennifer, Kevin, and Melinda.&nbsp; Vonnie was a devoted mother and was involved with her children’s scouting, 4-H, Sunday school and other pursuits.

Vonnie and Ted lived in numerous communities while Ted was completing his education and serving as school superintendent.&nbsp; Those communities included Russell, KS; Valley Falls, KS; Emporia, KS; Stillwater, OK; Phillipsburg, KS; Derby, KS; Atwood, KS; and Overbrook, KS. In 1994, they retired in Salina, KS.&nbsp; 

Vonnie loved to host family gatherings and to spend special weeks and days with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; They were truly her joy.&nbsp; She and Ted also enjoyed many trips all over the United States during the early years of their retirement.

Vonnie worked at university libraries in both Emporia and Stillwater and also worked at Wichita State University.&nbsp; Many interests captured Vonnie’s attention and she came to enjoy, not just participating in these endeavors, but teaching them to others as well.&nbsp; She taught tole painting to many budding artists and also researched and taught genealogy, exploring not only her own heritage but Ted’s as well.&nbsp; She served on the historical society boards and library boards of several communities.&nbsp; Vonnie was a gracious, kind, and warm person to all she met and with whom she crossed paths and she was a good friend to many.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Ted and her son, Kevin.

Left to warmly remember and mourn her passing are&nbsp; her daughters, Jennifer Reling, Beloit, and Melinda Jones, Minneapolis, her sister, Barbara (Morris) Krug, Russell, nieces, Andrea (Tom) Krauss, and Anita (James) Krug.&nbsp; She leaves to lovingly remember her, her grandchildren Tarin (Dave) Hauck, Kathy Walmsley, Misha Walmsley, Kimberly (David) Cook, Kirk Jones, Daniel L. Reling, Nicholas (Kelly) Reling, and Jacob Reling.&nbsp;&nbsp; There are thirteen great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Vonnie also leaves her fur buddy (dog), Moose.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 23 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, and a graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be prior to the service. 

Memorials may be given to the Resident Care Center or Solomon Valley Hospice.

Vonnie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.When Vonnie was just age 9, her daddy passed away and the family returned to Russell, KS, the family home.&nbsp; A good student, as Vonnie entered high school, she enjoyed Luther League, reading, and began work at the Russell Library.&nbsp;After high School graduation, Vonnie attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska.&nbsp; While home the summer after her freshman year, she met Theador “Ted” Jones and they were married on June 22, 1957, spending 58 years together.&nbsp; They were blessed with three children:&nbsp; Jennifer, Kevin, and Melinda.&nbsp; Vonnie was a devoted mother and was involved with her children’s scouting, 4-H, Sunday school and other pursuits.Vonnie and Ted lived in numerous communities while Ted was completing his education and serving as school superintendent.&nbsp; Those communities included Russell, KS; Valley Falls, KS; Emporia, KS; Stillwater, OK; Phillipsburg, KS; Derby, KS; Atwood, KS; and Overbrook, KS. In 1994, they retired in Salina, KS.&nbsp; Vonnie loved to host family gatherings and to spend special weeks and days with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; They were truly her joy.&nbsp; She and Ted also enjoyed many trips all over the United States during the early years of their retirement.Vonnie worked at university libraries in both Emporia and Stillwater and also worked at Wichita State University.&nbsp; Many interests captured Vonnie’s attention and she came to enjoy, not just participating in these endeavors, but teaching them to others as well.&nbsp; She taught tole painting to many budding artists and also researched and taught genealogy, exploring not only her own heritage but Ted’s as well.&nbsp; She served on the historical society boards and library boards of several communities.&nbsp; Vonnie was a gracious, kind, and warm person to all she met and with whom she crossed paths and she was a good friend to many.&nbsp;Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Ted and her son, Kevin.Left to warmly remember and mourn her passing are&nbsp; her daughters, Jennifer Reling, Beloit, and Melinda Jones, Minneapolis, her sister, Barbara (Morris) Krug, Russell, nieces, Andrea (Tom) Krauss, and Anita (James) Krug.&nbsp; She leaves to lovingly remember her, her grandchildren Tarin (Dave) Hauck, Kathy Walmsley, Misha Walmsley, Kimberly (David) Cook, Kirk Jones, Daniel L. Reling, Nicholas (Kelly) Reling, and Jacob Reling.&nbsp;&nbsp; There are thirteen great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Vonnie also leaves her fur buddy (dog), Moose.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 23 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, and a graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be prior to the service. Nancy Travis, age 71, joined her husband Bill in heaven on April 15, 2021.&nbsp; She passed away at&nbsp; The Downs Care &amp; Rehabilitation Center in Downs, Kansas.

Nancy was born on September 18, 1949 in Concordia, Kansas, to Leonard and Delema Erickson. She was raised on a farm north of Courtland, Kansas. Nancy was the baby of the family as her siblings Shirley and Walter were several years older.&nbsp; Nancy Lou was the apple of her daddy’s eye and was spoiled by everyone.&nbsp; She proudly graduated from Courtland High School in 1968. On June 1, 1969 she married the love of her life Bill Travis and settled in Minneapolis, KS. This union was blessed with two boys, Jeff and Greg.

Nancy spent much of her life being a homemaker and raising her boys.&nbsp; Throughout her time, she had several jobs which included being a daycare provider, a cook, and a CNA, to name a few.&nbsp; At one point in her life, she owned and ran “Nancy’s Retail Liquor Store” in Minneapolis where she enjoyed chatting with her many customers.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing dominoes, playing cards, and cooking for others.&nbsp; What she cherished the most was spending time with her family. While Bill was alive, they enjoyed many nights of bingo, bowling and trips to casinos.&nbsp; Nancy could be seen at many activities that involved her grandchildren Taylor, Makenzie, and Zachary. She was always up for a game of who could scare who the best.&nbsp; This trait was passed to her from her father.

Nancy was a spectacular cook and could be found making homemade noodles or baking delicious breads for Christmas.&nbsp; All you had to do was ask and she would mix up something delicious.&nbsp; It became a tradition for her to make pumpkin bread for Taylor’s (grandson) birthday per his request.&nbsp; Makenzie’s (granddaughter) request included a specific strawberry dessert.&nbsp; Grandma always had cookies waiting for Zachary at her place.&nbsp; Nancy could also be found decorating her house for any holiday or spiffing up her immaculately clean house.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her mother and father, her sister Shirley Hettinger and a brother, Walter Hocker.&nbsp; She is survived by her son Jeff (Tracy) of Beloit, a son Greg (Becki) of Minneapolis and three grandchildren Taylor, Makenzie, and Zachary Travis.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 24 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; at Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, KS. All are welcome and masks are not required but please do what makes you feel comfortable.&nbsp; Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit is taking care of the arrangements.&nbsp;

Charles Milton (Chuck) Dagley, 69, passed away April 14, 2021, at his home in Beloit, Kansas, with his wife of 20 years, Leanna (Prewett), by his side.&nbsp;

Chuck was born to Tom and Beverly (Pretz) Dagley on August 13, 1951, in Long Beach, California.&nbsp; The young family moved north to Alaska in 1954, where he spent most of his life. He grew up in Fairbanks,&nbsp; and worked with his father in many different endeavors, including gold mining and dog mushing.&nbsp; After graduating from high school, Chuck moved to Anchorage where he worked in the aviation industry for many years, and then on to general maintenance work, with a specialization in electrical.&nbsp; He had a vast knowledge of how to build and repair many things, with a keen eye for details.

He loved to share his experiences with anyone and could talk for hours about fishing, hunting, bear-guarding, air-boating, snow-machining, living off the grid, the Alaska railroad and on and on.&nbsp; His happiest times were spent at his cabin which was accessible only by the flagstop train or snow machine.&nbsp; Health issues prevented him from continuing to enjoy the Alaska lifestyle, so when Leanna retired from her job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, they moved to Beloit to be closer to her family.

Chuck was proud of his role as step-dad to Leanna’s daughters, Melissa, Stephanie and Cassie, and&nbsp; loved being Papa to the grandchildren, Tyger, Nikki, Natalie, Shaun, Dylan, Makenna, Landon, Emerson, Alexis and Trever, all of whom survive him.&nbsp; Sons-in-law knew they could count on him for assistance or advice when needed.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beverly. He is survived by his siblings, Barb (Tootie) and James (Nino), his adopted children, Derrick and Karen, as well as his step-daughters and their children.&nbsp; He leaves behind many friends, relatives and in-laws with fond "remember whens."

Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.&nbsp; Leanna will take him back to their cabin in Alaska one last time.&nbsp; Donations in his name to Solomon Valley Hospice, Beloit, Kansas, will be greatly appreciated.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary of the home, daughters Ashley Montgomery of Salina, Isabella Montgomery of the home, son Alex Montgomery of Salina, brother David A. Montgomery of Abilene, four grandchildren and two on the way, along with many relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. A parish rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. Married Wilbur Bass in September, 1955, was widowed in 1961. They had two children, Randy and Lynda. Ruth later married Melvin Beetch in April 1964 and widowed in February, 1998. They had two children, Sandy and Kevin.

Ruth attended elementary school near Pearl, KS. She then attended high school at DCHS in Chapman, Kansas graduating in 1953.

She was a member of the Holland EHU Farm Wives group, and Chisholm Trail Quilt Guild, as well as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital and the Dickinson County Historical Society Heritage Museum.Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering in the community as a 4-H leader and and sharing her love of sewing with those around her. So much in fact, she was a member of the local quilt guild for many years. She also enjoyed watching KU and KSU sports on Saturday afternoons.Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents, Herbert L. Heller and Vera M. (Adam) Heller, and her husbands, Wilbur Bass and Melvin Beetch. She is survived by her four children, Randy Bass, Abilene, Lynda (Bass) Ayres (Kelley), Minden, NE, Sandy (Beetch) Miller (Lyle), Carlton, KS and Kevin Beetch (Karen), Newton, KS.
