Richard L. Wolzen, son of Edwin (Swede) Wolzen and Glenva (Martin) Wolzen was born February 25, 1947 at McCook, Nebraska and passed away on September 27, 2021 at his home in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 2 days.
Richard served with the U. S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Nancy Huffman on July 14, 1973 and together they raised their two children, Spencer Lee and Becky Jean. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad, where he was a supervisor of the bridge and building until his retirement in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his father Edwin Wolzen, mother Glenva Hinkle, stepfather Ralph Hinkle, brother Gordon Neal Wolzen, brothers-in-law Dean and Clarence Beck, sister-in-law, Kristine Wolzen, and fathers-in-law, Neil Huffman and Norman Robertson.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Wolzen of Belleville, KS; son Spencer Wolzen (Belkin Gonzalez) of Lincoln, NE; daughter Becky (Kelly) Ulmer of Marysville, KS; two brothers, Kent Wolzen of Papillion, NE, Dennis (Roxane) Wolzen of Oxford, NE; two sisters, Carolyn Beck of St. Paul, NE, Joyce Beck of Alliance, NE; brother-in-law Dale Huffman; mother-in-law Dolores Robertson of Lexington, NE; sisters-in-law Linda Radtke of Omaha, NE, Kathy Wolzen of Wells, NV; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, Nebraska, conducted by Pastor Christopher Gerdes and Pastor Robert Hopkins.
Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, Beloit, KS.
