Rosetta May (Lawrenz) Schlesener life began on a small farm northwest of Herington Kansas, on August 27, 1921. She was the daughter of Karl and Olga (Ohm) Lawrenz. Rosetta lived on the dairy farm with four brothers and one sister. 

Rosetta attended a one-room rural grade school called Rocky Vale District 83, which was located a half mile east of the farm, which later, the school was moved to Lost Springs, Kansas. At the Rocky Vale school, she graduated eighth grade; she did not attend high school. She stayed on the farm to help with the dairy, meals, chickens, and help with loading wood for the wood stove on the farm. 

On Sept 4, 1921, she was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. In 1928, her family changed over to the Zion Lutheran Church, in Latimer KS. During that time, she attended parochial school for two years, where she would than stay with her Aunt Martha and Uncle John and then return home on the weekends. She was then later confirmed on May 12, 1935, by Pastor O.C. Jagels, in Latimer Kansas. Rosetta’s memory verse for confirmation was "Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," 2 Peter 3: 18. Rosetta lived with that verse as she went through the rest of her journey. 

On June 18, 1942, Rosetta married Harvey Schlesener at the Zion Lutheran church parsonage in Latimer, Kansas. Later they moved to a farm northwest of Herington, Kansas. Rosetta joined the Immanuel Lutheran church (Shady Brook); her husband was already a member there. 

Rosetta was a homemaker in which she would help her husband with the daily house chores and farming. As years went by Rosetta and Harvey welcomed two beautiful baby boys, Lyle Dean and Jerry Alan. She remained on the farm raising the boys and helping her husband farm. In 1994 her husband had to go into the Herington care home. Rosetta stayed on the farm maintaining it until 1996, where she decided to move to Herington Heights Home where she could be closer to her husband. She would take daily walks to visit him until he passed away on March 7, 2003. She remained as a member of the church. &nbsp;On October 15, 2014, Rosetta moved into the Legacy Nursing Home there she stayed until her death. 

Rosetta lived a beautiful long-lasting life. On July 13, 2022, she went to heaven peacefully with her sons by her side. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Karl (Olga) Schlesener, her sister Bernice Diekmann, and four brothers, Harry Lawrenz, Elmer Lawrenz, Charles Jr. Lawrenz, and LeRoy Dean Lawrenz, and her husband Harvey Schlesener. 

Surviving family members are her two sons Lyle (Ron Marteeny) Schlesener of Daytona Beach, Florida, Jerry (Caroline McIntosh) Schlesener of Herington, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews. 

Family will have visitation on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington, Kansas. On Monday July 18, 2022 at 10 a.m. family will have a graveside service at Shady Brook Cemetery with Pastor Alan Stahlecker leading her service. 

Family would like any memorials to be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church Shady Brook or Legacy of Herington.

Ruth’s life began on August 30, 1928, in Faribault, Minn. She was the daughter of Hugo and Margaret (Krause) Velzke. Ruth was educated at Concordia School and University in Seward, Neb. She was assigned to teach at St. John’s Lutheran school in Lincolnville, and later went to Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia for her bachelor's degree in education.

Ruth married Vernon W. “Bum” Poppe on August 14, 1949, in Faribault, Minn. They raised their family in Lincolnville, Kan., for 45 years before she moved to Clay Center, Kan., following Bum’s passing. 

She was an elementary school teacher in Pilsen and Lost Springs, retiring in 1990 from the Centre Unified District. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, serving as the church organist for over 50 years. Ruth enjoyed quilting and belonged to quilting guilds in Hillsboro and Clay Center.

She is survived by her children Wayne (Connie) Poppe of Oklahoma City and Janelle Poppe of Olathe, Kan.; daughter-in-law Carol Poppe of Overland Park and son-in-law Ron Koster of Clay Center; grandchildren Kevin (Jen) Poppe of Overland Park, David (Sarah) Poppe of Overland Park, Katherine (Will) Tarr of Overland Park, Andi Sullivan of Norman, Okla., Matthew (Jaena) Poppe of Edmond, Okla., Nathan Poppe of Oklahoma City, Jamie Koster of Clay Center, Brett (Andrea) Koster of Chapman and Megan (Cane) Griffiths of Wakefield; great-grandchildren Marin, Campbell, Owen, Abigail, Connor, Callie, Heath, Rhett, Bo, Farah, Ellie, Rylee, Raegan, Sawyer, Emmie, and Amelia; and her sister Jane Teschke of Roseville, Minn.

Ruth passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Avdena Living in Clay Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon(Bum), children Tom Poppe and Marsha Koster, granddaughter Erin Koster and grandson-in-law Barry Sullivan.

Ruth’s family will gather with friends on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Lincolnville from noon until 1 p.m. after which funeral services will be led by Pastor Alan Stahlecker. She will be laid to rest in Lincolnville Cemetery. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion, is serving the family.

Elmo’s life began on August 29, 1928 in rural Tryon, OK. He was the son of Floyd and Marjorie (Hutchinson) Murray. 

Elmo was educated in Tryon and later went to telegraph school. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

Elmo worked as station agent for the Rock Island Railroad from October of 1946 to April of 1980. He also worked for the Elbing Grain Company from April of 1980 until his passing. 

Elmo was united in marriage to Dejah Roof on June 1, 1947, in Tryon. 

He was baptized in 1940 at the Valley Queen Baptist Church and later became active in Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing. He served as a deacon, secretary of the church board, Sunday school teacher and on the kitchen committee at Zion. 

Elmo served the Elbing community as the city clerk for 37 years and served on the grade school PTA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his work. Elmo kept himself fit by exercising at the Newton Wellness Center. He was an avid local history buff, enjoyed keeping his mind sharp with crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper until his eyesight dimmed. Elmo enjoyed Facebook and had written, and self-published four local history books. 

He was thankful for his relationship with Christ and his felt God’s protection over himself daily. 

His loving family includes his daughters Debra Robinson of Newton and Pamela (Carl) Williams of Elbing; grandchildren Dawn Michelle Chappuis, Nathan Robinson, Dana Robinson, Benjamin Williams, Samuel Williams, Isaac Williams, Moses Williams, and Levi Williams; great-grandchildren Ethan, Eli, Jessica, Kimberly, Jordan, Destiny, Libertee, Harley, and Camryn; great-great-grandchildren Ryker, Aryzza and Emmitt; and his brother Gene (Christine) Murray of Perkins, OK.&nbsp; 

Elmo passed away on Wednesday July 6. 2022 at the Newton Medical Center. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Dejah. 

His family will gather with friends on Friday, July 15th&nbsp;from 5-7 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16th&nbsp;at 10 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing. He will be laid to rest in the Zion Cemetery, Elbing. 

Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Zion Mennonite Church.

Emily Sophia Howie, 11 months, of Salina, passed 
away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 10, 2022, following medical treatment 
for respiratory issues for a recent cold.&nbsp; She was born July 30, 2021, to
 Justin and Ashley (Young) Howie. &nbsp;

Left to mourn her passing are her parents, siblings Madelyn and 
Connor; maternal grandparents, Fred and Rene Young; paternal 
grandparents, Gary and Katherina Howie; great-grandparents, Jim and 
Carol Vander Yacht, and Edward and Velma Howie; aunts and uncles, 
Phillip Howie (Becca), Dustin Young (Michelle), Sean Young (Chelsea), 
Christopher Young, and Shannon Young; cousins, Ava, Kelcy, Kolton, Kody,
 Kyler, Tyus and Brody.

Emily was the most precious, sweet, funny and lively little girl in 
the world and brought so much joy to our lives. We will miss her bright 
smile, her open mouth kisses, her constant happiness, laughs and 
giggles, her ornery games she liked to play and tease us with, her 
cuddles, late night feedings, waking up in the morning to her bright 
smile and every little thing about her. Emily loved playing with and 
trying to keep up with her brother and sister, splashing in the bathtub 
and pool, she loved her babies and playing peek-a-boo, this little piggy
 and patty-cake.&nbsp; She had the brightest personality, was so funny and 
had so much love for life and her family.&nbsp; Even though we will forever 
have a huge hole in our hearts, we are so thankful that we got to spend 
the 11 months with her that we did. Life will never be the same. We love
 you Emily and miss you so, so much.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Weber as 
celebrant. &nbsp;

Arnold, 83, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; He was born November 14, 1938 to Robert and Viola (Gray) Arnold in Culver, Kansas.&nbsp; He graduated in 1956 from Culver High School.&nbsp; He married Frances Sharp on February 6, 1961 in Minneapolis.&nbsp; He began working at the grain elevator in New Cambria, in 1960 and retired after 50 years.&nbsp; He also enjoyed his second job as a valet driver for Salina Regional Health Center for six years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Arnold and Viola Stanley and half-brother, Richard Stanley.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Frances and special daughter, Tamra Lynne, both of the home; half-sister Carol (Jim) Murphy, of Culver; nephews, Michael (Jessica) Stanley, of Topeka, Gary (Michelle) Stanley, of Fort Worth, TX, David (Kari) Stanley, James (Coralee) Murphy, all of Salina; niece, Sarah Murphy (Troy Dean), Wichita; aunt Marjorie Bradley, Sedgwick; and cousins.

She was united in marriage to Karl Baxa on August 12, 1995 and to this union two&nbsp;children were born, Nickalous and Amanda.

She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxilary, Superior, NE, St. Isidore&nbsp;Catholic Church, Cuba, KS and St. Isidore Altar Society.

Ronny Dee Stockman, 65, passed away July 8, 2022 in Hays, KS. &nbsp;Ron was born April 1, 1957 in Garrett, Indiana to J.V. and Nadine Stockman. 

Ronny was raised in Goodland, Kansas and graduated from Goodland High School, Class of 1975. While in school Ron competed in wrestling and football. 

Upon graduation he enlisted in the United Stated Navy where he completed various schools and was assigned to the USS Nimitz. He spent six years enlisted in the Navy and saw many different countries. He ended his career with the Navy at NAS Whidbey Island, WA.

While in the Navy Ron met the love of his life, Marie Ida Griest. They were married in Jacksonville, Florida September 8, 1977. 

After Ron was honorably discharged from the Navy in September 1981, he enrolled in airframe and power plant school to pursue his interest in mechanics and aviation. Upon receiving his FAA certification as a mechanic, he worked in the industry refurbishing airliners as an airframe and power plant mechanic. He later worked at Watson Pharmaceutical in shipping.

When Marie retired from the banking industry, they wanted to leave the rat race of California and find a small acreage where they could enjoy their life together and found their dream in a farm in Scottsville, Kansas.

Ronny was artistic, played the piano, had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed woodworking. He loved taking his dog Molly for rides on his four-wheeler. He was generous with many and loved the Lord, his church and the community of Scottsville. He also felt a calling and enjoyed his ministry to the nursing home.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie; his parents Jerry and Nadine Stockman; and his sister-in-law Nancy Griest. 

He is survived by his brothers Dan Stockman of Scott City, Kansas and Tim Stockman (Adele) of Dalhart, Texas, mother-in-law Mona Griest, sisters-in-law Deborah Griest, Beverly Barrows, Pat Cassel; brothers-in-law Andy, Robert and Dewayne; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home followed by burial in Scottsville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Scottsville Community Church.

Jolene Robson-Laing passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Abilene Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years. She was born November 8, 1939 in Abilene, the daughter of Otis and Doris Manion.&nbsp;

Jolene was a 1957 graduate of Abilene High School. In 1961, she earned her nursing diploma from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas. 

On June 9, 1961, Jolene married fellow Abilene native, David J. Robson and the two of them moved to Pueblo, CO, where she launched her nursing career. After a couple of years, they returned to Abilene when David had opportunity to enter the family title business. Jolene spent the duration of her career at Abilene Memorial Hospital primarily as an emergency room nurse, in addition to spending several years as director of nursing in the 1980s. She retired in 2006 after 45 years of nursing. After a brief time, Jolene once again returned to Abilene Memorial Hospital as a nurse for Memorial’s Rose Unit. Jolene’s life of service to the community was a true labor of love.

Jolene loved working in her home and garden where her creativity really shined! Blessed with the gift of hospitality, Jolene loved sharing her home with family, friends and those who just needed a place to stay. From spring until fall, flowers bloomed in abundance under her persistent care as she created a garden on par with any “Master Gardener!”

Jolene exemplified a servant’s heart whether she was helping to heal those in the ER, pouring love into her family, or creating beauty in her garden. She was in God’s restoration business, touching each life with compassion as she sought to show God’s love to all she encountered.

Jolene was active in a variety of community organizations, particularly those of her faith such as Christian Women’s Club, and the Gideons International Auxiliary. Jolene attended Emmanuel Church from her childhood on, volunteering for many roles, perhaps most notably in caring for the lawn and gardens of the facility for many years.

Jolene is survived by her daughter Debra Price and husband, Chris of Manhattan, KS, together with her three children, Samantha, Jakob, and Abbegale Tech; her son Craig Robson and wife, Adrienna of Millbrae, CA, together with their two sons Ethan and Jimmy Robson; her son Guy Robson of Tulsa, OK; her daughter Jenn Martin and husband, Brent of Emporia, KS, together with their children Madilyn and Hayden Martin; and one great-grandchild, Elijah Tech, the son of Samantha Tech; her brother Kent Manion and wife, June of Topeka, KS; her sister Trudy Furbeck and husband, Richard of Loveland, CO; and her brother Kirk Manion and wife, Carol of Branson West, MO; and eleven nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, David Robson and Harris Laing; and her parents Otis and Doris Manion.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her extraordinary life at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at Emmanuel Church with Pastor Gordon McClure officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Martin, Becker, Carlson Funeral Home, in Abilene, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Jennifer Michelle (Koster) Wangerin, died Sunday, July 10th, 2022 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Jennifer was born October 9th, 1983 in Salina, Kansas to Jim and Debbie (Meyer) Koster. 

She graduated from Bennington High School in 2002. She then attended Salina Cosmetology school. Jennifer found that she truly enjoyed her current job with The Bank of Tescott working as a teller and recently was promoted to teller supervisor.

In December 2006, Jennifer married Rusty Wangerin and gained her stepdaughter Amaria. Jennifer and Rusty welcomed their sons Aiden in 2007 and Kolton in 2010.

Jennifer had a laugh and smile that was warm and welcoming to everyone she met. She had a love for cooking and often brought her homemade pies and sugar cookies to family events. She also enjoyed making her children’s along with her nieces’ and nephews' birthday cakes, always trying to capture their favorite character that that they would choose.

Jennifer’s biggest passion though was the time she spent with her children working alongside of them and watching them work and build their 4-H projects. Especially when it came to their animal projects Jennifer and her children spent several weekends during the summer time hauling animals and spending quality time. This is definitely a passion that has been passed along to Amaria, Aiden and Kolton.

Survivors include her family, Rusty, Amaria, Aiden and Kolton, all of the home; her parents, Jim and Debbie (Meyer) Koster of Bennington; grandmother Mary Jo Meyer; brothers Kyle (Kelsey) Koster and their children Kensington and Kerby of Salina, and Craig Koster and his children, Colbie and Cassidy of Bennington; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents Nick and Filicitia (Gerstner) Koster, and Fred Meyer. &nbsp; Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at St Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church Parish Hall.&nbsp; Rosary and vigil will be at 7 p.m.

SALINA -&nbsp;Ruth (Woodall) McRell&nbsp;passed away on July 11, 2022 in Village Manor of Abilene, Kansas after nearly 86 spirited years of life.

Ruth was born on July 24, 1936 to Nels and Eda Renspeas Sims on a farm near Longford, Kansas and graduated from Longford High School in 1954. 

On January 29, 1955 Ruth married Burdette “Woody” Woodall and welcomed their children, Dennis and Kim into the world. While raising her children, Ruth was a homemaker and avid Air Force spouse.

When her children were older, Ruth went to work for Tony’s Pizza. She became the first employee to earn Employee of The Month and Employee of The Year awards and worked for Tony’s for 25 years.

After the death of her first husband in 1989, Ruth married John Richard McRell on July 27th, 1991. Ruth and Richard enjoyed eight years of marriage and loved spending time together with each other’s children and grandchildren.

Ruth was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene and served as a frequent volunteer, especially at funeral dinners. She loved to chat with friends, cheer for her grandchildren, and was always showing her love through her amazing cooking.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sisters Norma Prater and Margie Reed, and three brothers, Wayne, Walt, and Robert Sims.

Ruth is survived by her children Dennis (Yvonne) and Kim Woodall, grandchildren Andrew (Brandy) Schippers, Libby (Eric) Starns, Tyler (Jason) Dupy, Chip (Angie), Kyle, Taylor, and Emily Woodall, and great-grandchildren, Desiree and Jordan Schippers, and Jadyn, Brooke, Carter, and Cade Starns.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary in Salina from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Family will be present from 5-7 p.m.&nbsp; Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15th at 10 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Salina, KS.

While raising her children, Ruth was a homemaker and avid Air Force spouse.When her children were older, Ruth went to work for Tony’s Pizza. She became the first employee to earn Employee of The Month and Employee of The Year awards and worked for Tony’s for 25 years.After the death of her first husband in 1989, Ruth married John Richard McRell on July 27th, 1991. Ruth and Richard enjoyed eight years of marriage and loved spending time together with each other’s children and grandchildren.Ruth was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene and served as a frequent volunteer, especially at funeral dinners. GYPSUM -&nbsp;Janice Colleen Ade, 87, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 after a long illness.

The middle of three children, she was born November 5, 1934, in Salina, Kansas to Carl W. and Joyce E. (Harri) Olson. 

She graduated from Gypsum High School and studied home economics at Kansas State before wedding Donald R. Ade in 1954.

Janice excelled as a homemaker and was devoted to her husband, children and the family farm. She made incredible rolls, was an exceptional seamstress, an avid gardener and always loved a good auction.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, two daughters, Linda Ade Brand (Robert G. Brand) of Kansas City, Mary Ade of Nantucket, MA, one granddaughter, Julia Brand, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Roxbury United Methodist Church.&nbsp; A private inurnment will be held at Gypsum Valley Cemetery #2.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorials may be made to the Roxbury United Methodist Church.

Joyce K. Blouch&nbsp;was born on September 11, 1935 in Sellarsville, PA and passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Pinnacle Park Nursing Home. 

She spent her childhood in Tylersport, PA with her birth mother, Margaret King. Joyce went to Luther League in Philadelphia, and while there, she met her foster parents, Herman and Frances Wertz. 

She went to nursing school in 1954 and graduated as a registered nurse in 1957 at Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. 

She married Leigh Lengle Blouch in 1958 in Philadelphia. They had four children: Deborah Ann Teel, Salina; David Leigh Blouch (Linda), Salina; Dianne Francis Blouch, Salina; and Daniel Gideon Blouch (Kathi), Salina. She has one living foster sister, Roberta Ludwig, Willow Grove, PA. She has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, parents, her husband, her son-in-law Jim Teel (2003) and two foster sisters, Francis Peterson and Alice Bellefleur.

She worked as a director of nursing for 43 years, first, at White Cross and Crestview Nursing Homes near Bennington in 1966, then director of nursing at Oakdale Park/Windsor Estates, Salina and director of nursing at McCall Manor, Salina. She was a member of the Salina Vo-Tech Nursing Board and other nursing committees in Kansas. She retired in 2009. 

Her health declined in 2012 and she went to Pinnacle Park Nursing Home for physical therapy and strengthening, living there for 10 years.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022.

He worked in soil conservation, road construction, and owned and operated Cook Mobile Home Service. Bob served during WWII in the United States Army as a paratrooper from 1944 - 1946. On May 25, 1950, Bob married Beverly M. Shores in Goodland, Kansas. Bob and his daughter, Cathy were avid world travelers, specifically to Costa Rica, Europe, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. He loved to visit his nieces and nephews and friends at the Salina VFW and American Legion Posts. Bob looked forward to family get-togethers, holidays, cook-outs, and other events. He was also blessed to be able to take the Kansas Honor Flight #12, April 30-May 2, 2014 and the Dream Flight on August 26, 2021. Survivors include his daughter Cathy Boll, (Joe Miller) of Salina, Kansas; granddog River; step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Irene and Fred Weis; grandparents John and Izzy Carlson; wife Beverly; son Dale Cook; sisters Jeannette Baxley and Ruby Morton. Cremation has been chosen. Donna was a homemaker and home-schooled her two sons first grade through high school. 

After her sons were out of school she worked for RC Hobbies then worked 18 years as a customer service representative for Shelter Insurance and American Family Insurance where she retired early on SS1 disability. 

She graduated with a GED than attended Kansas State University for three years. 

Donna married Ralph Samuel Finley on June 26, 1976 at University Baptist Church, Manhattan, Kansas.

 Ralph survives of the home with their oldest son Christopher Allyn; son Joseph Edward of McPherson, KS and girlfriend and two granddaughters Katelyn Marie and Rebecca Lea, two sisters and one brother.

 Donna was preceded in death by her parents. 

Burial is to be at her cherished home in Dickinson County at a future time with a small ceremony.

Thomas Lloyd Beatty, 74, of Luray, Kansas, went to Heaven with the 
Lord, on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Hutchinson Regional Medical 
Center in Hutchinson, Kansas after a valiant battle with numerous health
 issues.

Thomas was born on May 25, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Lloyd 
R. and Bertha Maude (Reiss) Beatty.&nbsp; He grew up in the Amherst area and 
graduated from Luray High School in the class of 1966 where he enjoyed 
playing football.&nbsp; After high school, Tom attended Ft. Hays State 
University in Hays, Kansas where he played football.&nbsp; He met, fell in 
love and was united in marriage to Renita Rae Schilling on June 18, 
1994, in Onaga, Kansas.&nbsp; From this union, Tom and Renita were blessed 
with 5 children Shawn, Dylan, Austin, Jamie and Dakota.&nbsp; He lived, 
worked his whole life, and raised his family, on the Beatty family 
farm.&nbsp; He also worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 39
 years as a highway maintenance employee. He was a longtime member of 
the Amherst United Methodist Church of Waldo, Kansas.&nbsp; He was also a 
member of the Lions Club of Luray, Kansas, Elks Lodge of Russell, 
Kansas, Luray Senior Center Broad Member &amp; President of Luray, 
Kansas, and a Hunter Safety Master Instructor.&nbsp; He enjoyed working and 
taking care of the family farm and being outdoors.&nbsp; He also enjoyed 
doing leather work, hunting and fishing.&nbsp; His love for the outdoors was 
only surpassed by the love he had for his family and friends, especially
 his kids and grandkids.

Surviving family include his wife Renita of the home; daughter Jamie 
Edwards and husband Emmanuel of Wellington, Kansas; sons Shawn Beatty 
and wife Misty of Sylvan Grove, Kansas, Dylan Beatty and wife Megan of 
Hutchinson, Kansas, Austin Beatty and wife Nicole of Lucas, Kansas and 
Dakota Beatty and spouse Nicole of Lucas, Kansas and 18 grandchildren. 
He is also survived by many Friends and Family members.&nbsp; He leaves a 
huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always 
entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother John 
Beatty. A memorial service to celebrate Thomas’ life will be held. on 
September 17, 2022, at the Amherst United Methodist Church of Waldo,

or Luray Senior Center and sent in care of the mortuary.&nbsp;

or Luray Senior Center and sent in care of the mortuary.&nbsp; 
Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the 
funeral service arrangements.

 City, Kansas.Dona was born July 6, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the daughter 
of Donald and Lyla (Bruner) Fowler.&nbsp; She grew up in Wichita and 
graduated from North High School.Dona was united in marriage to Larry Bender on March 21, 1981, in 
Milberger, Kansas.&nbsp; They made their home on a farm south of Russell.Dona was a devoted wife and homemaker.&nbsp; When she was younger she 
worked as a Nurse’s Aid.&nbsp; She attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of 
Milberger.&nbsp; In her sparetime, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, 
crocheting, and collecting chickens and dolls.Dona’s surviving family include her husband of 41 years, Larry of the
 home; son, Eric Battaglear (Missy) of Hoisington, Kansas; brothers, Ron
 Fowler (Glenna) of Valley Center, Kansas and Patrick Fowler (Karen) of 
Hillsboro, Kansas; sisters, Carolyn Stock (Keith Unterseher) of Flippin,
 Arkansas and Anita Davis (Denny) of Wichita, Kansas; four 
grandchildren, Jerica Battaglear and Stephanie Horton (Brian), Jason 
Battaglear and Danny Battaglear (Samantha Duran); four great 
grandchildren, Isabella Mickle, Danica Horton, Aurora Horton and Westin 
Lee Battaglear; and six nieces and four nephews.Dona was preceded in death by her parents, son Jason Battaglear, and brothers Larry Fowler and Mike Fowler.Celebration of Dona’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 
16, 2022, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Milberger.&nbsp; Burial will 
follow at the Bender Hill Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 
AM to 8:00 PM, Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family
 present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.&nbsp; A Memorial has been 
established as the Dona Bender Memorial Fund.&nbsp; Contributions and 
condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in 
charge of these arrangements.
