Robert Allen Thomas, 75, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at North Central Kansas Medical Center.&nbsp;Robert was born November 30, 1947, to Murrell E. and Helen W. (Cox) Thomas in Concordia. He grew up and attended schools in Concordia before joining the United States Air Force in 1967. Robert proudly served for four years. After his honorable discharge, Robert worked many different jobs but was a long-time truck driver and always called Concordia home.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending Sturgis for several years.&nbsp;

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Fisher; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Ginger Thomas; infant brother, Charles.&nbsp;

Survivors include Brian Kieffer and his wife of Haysville, Bradley Kieffer of Arkansas City, Jean Kincaid and her husband of Missouri, Joan Kieffer of Arkansas City, Jeremy Thomas and his wife of Mulvane, Amy Eickleberry of North Carolina, and numerous great nephews and great nieces.

Visitation&nbsp;will be Sunday August 27, 2023 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Nutter Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be Monday August 28, 2023 at 10:30am at Nutter Mortuary with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Military Honors will be&nbsp;<a></a>provided by&nbsp;the American Legion Post #76.

Burial will be Tuesday August 29, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery at Winfield, Winfield, KS.

Rodney Lynn Helzer

Father Melvin Long was born August 7, 1940, in New Almelo. He died on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

Father Long’s parents were Andrew and Regina (Otter) Long. He attended grade school at St. John’s in Beloit, graduated from St. Francis Seminary High School in Victoria, St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, as well as the American Theological Seminary at University of Louvain in Belgium.

He was ordained June 18, 1966, at St. John the Baptist in Beloit by Bishop Cyril Vogel.

One of the most notable accomplishments during Father Long’s ministry was founding St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Salina in 1981. Father Long led the project, building the parish from the ground up. The parish today is served by Father Keith Weber and has 684 families as regular parishioners. As the parish was being built, Father Long celebrated Mass in some very interesting places, including the movie theater!

Father Long’s priestly ministry included teaching positions at Marymount College, Bethany College and Cloud County Community College, but he was also called to minister in Europe. Father Long spent his seminary years in Belgium at the American Theological Seminary at University of Louvain. After his ordination, he was called back to Belgium to serve as a faculty member in 1973 and later served as leadership in the 1990s.

When Father Long retired in 2002, he moved to California due to health complications. However, his priestly ministry did not stop there. He filled in at parishes across the country so that other priests could take extended sabbaticals. He also was a part of the “Apostleship of the Sea of the United States of America” and did some cruise ship ministry for several years.

In the May 2016 issue of <a href="https://salinadiocese.org/news-and-updates/father-melvin-long-obituary/">The Register</a>, Father Long stated, “I love ministry, and I love people. That’s why I’ve continued (ministering) beyond retirement on a regular basis.”&nbsp; He also fondly recalled the many friendships he still maintained from his years serving in the Diocese of Salina.

Genevieve “Jenny” Anna Jones, age 96 entered into rest on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Republic County, Kansas on March 8, 1927 to Irvin and Mary (Dunphy) Hockman.

Jenny was a 1945 graduate of Clyde High School, Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She went on to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

Jenny taught all eight grades in country schools, north of Clyde.&nbsp;&nbsp;She also taught school at all the air bases where David was stationed.

Genevieve married, David Jones on Feb. 6, 1954 in Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;Genevieve and David lived in California, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Arkansas, and Texas, during his service in the US Air Force.&nbsp;&nbsp;After Davd’s retirement they moved back to Clyde and Jenny taught the second grade at Clyde until her retirement.

Jenny enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, painting, and most of all spending time with her family.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, CDA, VFW Women’s Aux., and Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators.

Genevieve is survived by her sister, JoAnne Balthazor, Clyde, KS; sister-in-law, Martha Jones, Newington, NH and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces &amp; great nephews and a community of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband David, parents, Irvin and Mary, a brother, Arthur Hockman, and sister, Gloria Naillieux.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday., August 24, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.

Rayburn Victor Tappendick, 82, passed away on August 16, 2023 at Pinnacle Park Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Salina, KS.

Ray was born on July 02, 1941 in Holyrood, KS to parents Oscar and Deloris (Becker) Tappendick.

Ray enjoyed family, gardening, working in the yard, cooking and cars. Every Sunday was family supper, his specialty was Meat loaf, Ray probably had 100 recipes for Meat loaf, and never made it the same twice. He loved cars and going to car shows, especially the lead sled car show. Ray asked that when he passes away, to make sure he was wearing his glasses as he wanted to see who all attends his funeral. He was so witty I remember him being told to have patience, and he replied if I wanted patience , I would have bought a hospital, he was told by one of his care givers that he didn't like change, his reply was no I like bills. Ray was a stubborn German, ask some of his care givers, but also loving, he would help anybody out.

Dad was always willing to take free stuff from venders, you were sure to get a bag at one and almost like trick or treating see how much you could get before leaving, going to Sam's club was always fun for free samples of food.&nbsp; He loved trick or treating especially if he scored a beer.&nbsp; I’m not sure if it was the early morning and all day wresting meets watching the grandkids wrestle or the biscuits and gravy.&nbsp; He always found a way to help support them whether it was going to a wrestling meet, gymnastics or taking a shot at the voice.&nbsp; If there was ever to be a shortage of self-tapping screws, aluminum or scrap pieces of plexiglass he was sure to have it and if you ever thought of trying to move any sort of object from the deck or fence you had another thing coming because the supply of liquid nail was plentiful. His wit of common sense was hilarious, you don't take your car to a grocery store to get worked on. Dad loved automobiles, if it had an engine and wheels if was worth checking out. Monster trucks, mud pulls, tractor pulls, drag races and car shows were at the top of the list.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Reverend Canon Bruce Erie&nbsp;<a></a>LeBarron, who&nbsp;died&nbsp;on&nbsp;August&nbsp;19, 2023&nbsp;in Salina, Kansas. He was born in Jamestown, New York,&nbsp;on February 9, 1930, to Erie H.&nbsp;LeBarron&nbsp;and&nbsp;Coralyn&nbsp;A.&nbsp;LeBarron&nbsp;(nee&nbsp;Remington).

He was preceded&nbsp;in death by his wife Lilith A.&nbsp;Harding whom he married on June 30, 1956, in Glens&nbsp;Falls, New York.

Father&nbsp;LeBarron&nbsp;had a long career&nbsp;in the Episcopal Church, laterally&nbsp;as an assistant priest at Christ Church Cathedral&nbsp;in Salina,&nbsp;assistant organist&nbsp;also&nbsp;at Christ Church Cathedral, an assisting priest for the Diocese of Western Kansas,&nbsp;church organist at St. John's Military School Chapel,&nbsp;and&nbsp;chaplain at Presbyterian Manor, Salina.

He is survived by his son Gregory&nbsp;LeBarron&nbsp;of&nbsp;McCordsville, IN; daughters Elizabeth&nbsp;LeBarron&nbsp;of Rockville, MD, and Sarah&nbsp;(Sally)&nbsp;Simmons of Lincolnshire England,&nbsp;two grandchildren&nbsp;and&nbsp;two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends who will miss him dearly.&nbsp;

Father&nbsp;LeBarron’s&nbsp;hobbies included building replica pipe organ&nbsp;pneumatic percussion&nbsp;instruments (such as&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snare_drum">snare drum</a>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;crash cymbal)&nbsp;and renovating and playing pipe organs.&nbsp;When he lived in Connecticut, he created a small silent picture “palace” in the garage of the house where he lived with his family. &nbsp;There, he accompanied the films on an organ he had rebuilt. &nbsp;He also enjoyed model railroading having an elaborate layout&nbsp;in his home. He also enjoyed&nbsp;the company of&nbsp;his many Golden Retrievers.

A Memorial of Life&nbsp;will be held at the Episcopal Christ Cathedral Church located on South 8th Street in Salina, KS on&nbsp;at a later date. SALINA, KS -&nbsp;Deborah Jo Dubuc-Schindler&nbsp;passed peacefully to her heavenly home on August 12, 2023, at the age of 66 years young with her son Devin at her side. Deb was a wonderful mother and grandmother “Nana”. She had many friends and was well-loved.

The Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 18th, 2023, at 10 am at Christ the Lord Community Church (210 W. Shipton, Salina, KS) where Deb was a long-time member.&nbsp; Immediately following the service, there will be a procession to the burial at the Glendale Cemetery located at 11724 W. Watkins Rd, Glendale, KS 67425.

Deborah was an educator who specialized in Autism and Special Education for over 3 decades at USD #240 (Bennington/Tescott), USD #305 (Salina), and Garland Texas ISD. She created a program at Salina Central High School where she assisted her special education students with operating a catering business to assist them with understanding life skills that would help to pave their future successes.

Deborah leaves behind her son Devin Dubuc, wife Deirrian, grandson Dylan, granddaughter Mackenzie, granddaughter Teodora, grandson Jaxon, and grandson Kai.

Also survived by sister Angie Abbott, nephew Cadron Pickett, wife Hannah, and daughter Violet.

George Elmer Stein,&nbsp;71, of Salina, KS, passed on from this life on August 15th, 2023, at 1:25 PM. He left an enduring impact and impression on all those that he met and encountered. He was the absolute best Husband / Father / Papa to his immediate family and will be missed by not only his entire family, but also his community.

George was born on September 3, 1951, in Salina, KS to Kenneth and Dorothy Stein. He was raised on the family farm in Gypsum, KS with his six siblings until permanently moving to Salina in 1958. It was here that he lived in his childhood home until he graduated from high school.

He attended grade school at Franklin Elementary and graduated from Salina High in 1970. George was a member of the Salina High wrestling team. One of his fondest memories was that he was the first wrestler to use the “Irby” hold in competition.

He always knew how to work hard, and it was expected from an early age. He started working at the age of nine and held various jobs to earn extra money. During high school, he worked for AJ Holmquist as an equipment operator. One of George’s favorite teachers told him, “If someone asks you if you know how to do something, say yes and learn along the way.”&nbsp; He used this mantra to guide him in life. George immediately went to work after graduating from High School and started with JS Frank Construction. He was a laborer and did whatever was asked of him. In 1976, he went to work for Nelson and Company and worked his way into a Superintendent position. He traveled across the Midwest completing projects for them. In 1983, he started L&amp;S Building Contractors with his longtime friend, Gene Luetters. Together they were able to build a well-respected construction company that, still today, is easily identified by its trademark use of the color, red. He used to say, “If You Want the Best, You Call L&amp;S, If you Don’t, You Call All the Rest.”&nbsp; George would eventually sell his company to his son Joe, in 2003, and went on to establish and operate Broadway Mini-Storage until his retirement in 2020.

George loved donating his time, talent, and treasure to help his fellow man. He was an active and Charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10778 and the Salina Breakfast AMBUCS.

George met his wife Mary Robb in February of 1972. They exchanged vows at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on April 7, 1973. They spent fifty wonderful years together and would go on to have three children – Joe, Jenny, and Justin.

George instilled in his kids the values of hard work, education, and faith. He lived by the motto “Work Hard – Play Hard.”&nbsp; Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He treasured time spent with his kids and grandkids and was always looking forward to the next adventure.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy, sister Barbara Ann, brother Larry, as well as brother-in-law Larry Cianciolo and sister-in-law Edna Stein.

He is survived by his wife Mary, son Joe (Nancy) Stein, daughter Jenny (Greg) Maring, and son Justin (Marisa) Stein. Together they have seven grandchildren which meant the world to him – Dawson Maring, Cole Stein, Makenzie Maring, Lauren Stein, Leah Stein, Jackson Stein, and Malone Stein, as well as siblings Anita (Melvin) Denson, Annette Cianciolo, Jolene (Leon) Weiser, John (Cathy) Stein, Bob Stein, as well as numerous nieces / nephews and extended family and friends.

George touched so many lives and was loved by all. He knew no strangers and welcomed many with his big smile, laugh, and warm hugs.&nbsp; He left an undeniable impression on many by supporting his kids, grandkids, and all their friends in their extra-curricular activities and was a fixture at both South and Central events for over 40 years.

There will be a visitation and celebration of life on Sunday, August 20th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Rosary to follow at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, Salina, KS&nbsp; 67401.&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 21st at 10:00 AM with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery following.

After high school, she graduated from Brown Mackie Business College. Survivors include three daughters, Karla Manspeaker (Bob), of Hope, Brenda Penney (Jay Bailey), of Wichita, Denise Tweedy (Douglas), of Gypsum; son, Steve Penney (Kris), of Papillion, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren, Eric Tweedy (Eric Strimple), Ian Bailey, Jason Penney (Jessica), Lysandra Penney (James Eele); 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kay Jackson, of Rural Barnard, Kansas. Michael Alan “Mike” Hopper, 63, of Russell, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home.

Mike was born February 24, 1960, in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;The son of James David, II and Dorothy M. (Teppe) Hopper. &nbsp;He grew up in Russell and was a 1978&nbsp;graduate of Russell High School. &nbsp;He then attended Kansas State University and Fort Hays State University.

Mike was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Baird on July 6, 1985 in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;This union was blessed with two children; Cameron and Brianne. &nbsp;They made their home in Russell.

Mike was the General Manager of ABCO Wire &amp; Metal Products. &nbsp;He was active in the Russell Pheasants Forever. &nbsp;He enjoyed fishing, golf and hunting. He spent his free time working and playing at the farm with his friends and family.

Surviving family include his wife of 38 years, Beth of Russell, Kansas; son, Cameron W. Hopper (Mary Grace) of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter, Brianne E. Perez (Erick) of Swansboro, North Carolina; sister, Becky Vogt of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers, Tom Hopper (Carol) of Mesquite, Texas and Tim Hopper (Laura) of Russell, Kansas; and a grandson, Hezekiah Perez.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James D. Hopper, III and William Z. Hopper.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. He spent his free time working and playing at the farm with his friends and family.Surviving family include his wife of 38 years, Beth of Russell, Kansas; son, Cameron W. Hopper (Mary Grace) of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter, Brianne E. Perez (Erick) of Swansboro, North Carolina; sister, Becky Vogt of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers, Tom Hopper (Carol) of Mesquite, Texas and Tim Hopper (Laura) of Russell, Kansas; and a grandson, Hezekiah Perez.Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James D. Michael Alan “Mike” Hopper

Mary Katherine (Wickstrom) Nolan, 102, of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, &nbsp;in Marquette.

Mary was born on August 26, 1920, in Conway, KS, the daughter of E. Birdette and Grace B. (Hollingsworth) Wickstrom.&nbsp; She graduated from Marquette High School and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mary was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968.&nbsp; She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1945.&nbsp; She served as a nurse at several Air Force hospitals and was Director of Nursing at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On March 9, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Alson V. Nolan, Jr.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on December 8, 2000.

Survivors include: a niece, Cynthia (Mike) Hulse of Marquette, KS; nephews, Todd Parkhill of Los Angeles, CA and Clif Parkhill, Jr. of Oxnard, CA; great-nephews, Brandon Hulse of Marquette, KS, Lance Hulse of Tipton, KS, and Matthew (Diane) Wickstrom of Marquette, KS; great-great-niece, Kimber Grace Wickstrom; great-great-nephew, John David Wickstrom; step-son, Alson Nolan, III of Mesquite, TX; step-grandsons, Jeffery (Lea) Nolan of Fairview, TX and Michael Patrick Nolan of Allen, TX; step-great-grandson, Parker Scott (Olivia) Nolan of Anna, TX; and many extended family and friends.

Norma Jean Phelps, 91, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023. She was born on the family farm in rural Saline County, Kan., on November 26, 1931, to James and Elizabeth “Alice” (Walle) Phillips.

Norma married John Phelps in Concordia, Kan., and they started life on a farm west of Bavaria, raising laying hens and selling hatching eggs. She worked at the Brookville Hotel in Brookville, Kan., before the family moved to a home west of Hedville – present farm – on Reese Road. She helped feed cattle and many hogs, haul grain during harvest, and always had chickens to raise and sell eggs. Norma was an avid gardener and home canner. She was always cooking for whoever was there - you always got something to eat, and the coffee was always on.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Allen Phelps; daughter, Angela Manningly; and brother Bill Phillips; and infant brother, Harold.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ahlquist (Frank) of Tescott, Kan.; brothers, Donald Phillips (Jeanette) and Tom Phillips (Belinda); grandchildren, Jon Ahlquist, Jeanne Ahlquist, Jessica Ebert (Levi), Joel Phelps (Lynette), and Tim Lyon (Agi); great-grandchildren, Ty and Mason Ebert, Garrett Phelps, and Abigail Lyon; and many nieces and nephews.

Craig Allan Callihan, was born on June 25, 1969 in Belleville, KS to James Callihan &amp; Carole (Odette) Lagasse. He passed from this life on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He graduated from Clifton-Clyde High School in the Class of 87’.&nbsp;

Craig worked for Willbrant Construction for 24 years as a heavy equipment operator. He previously owned and operated his own trucking business known as C/C. Craig’s handle was Billy Big Rigger.&nbsp;

He had an unfiltered mouth and sense of humor. He always expressed his opinion and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. He was a dog lover, having Fuzzy, JoJo, and Peppa who predeceased him, and Katie who survives.

Craig enjoyed hanging out with his friends in special places around the Clyde community. He also enjoyed barbequing. One of his biggest joys was to visit KC’s Expression where he had donated a large ceramic pot. They asked him “Craig, what will you do when you retire?” His comeback was that he was going to be a greeter for the beauty salon, by the door where his ceramic pot sits.

He is survived by his mother, Carole Lagasse &amp; husband Lowell, Clyde, KS; father, James Callihan, Oshkosh, NE; nieces, Alicia (Brennan) Anderson, of Concordia, KS, Maycee Callihan and Mallory Callihan, of Agenda, KS; nephew, Brandon Callihan, Concordia, KS;&nbsp;Aunt, Marcia Lanoue, Salina, KS; Cousins, Jacquelyn (Dennis), Kach, Salina, KS; Derek (Tina) Lanoue, Salina, KS;&nbsp;special friends, his Willbrant family, Mike “Zeke” Chartier, Josh Chartier, and Jamie Luecke.&nbsp;

Craig Callihan

Kenneth D. Armbrust, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; He was an electrician, working at Cessna in Hutchinson and Johns Manville in McPherson.

Kenneth was born on July 26, 1931, in Claflin, KS, the son of William Henry and Wilhelmina Julianna (Lubinus) Armbrust.&nbsp; He graduated from Claflin High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; On November 10, 1953, Ken was united in marriage to Maxine Sallee in St. John, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to her passing on December 5, 2021.&nbsp;

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church.&nbsp; He was a longtime Red Cross volunteer, a Scoutmaster, and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors include: a son, Jim Armbrust (Gerry) of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Patty Armbrust of Wichita, KS and Cindy Ledbetter (Charles) of Mustang, OK; a brother, Bob Armbrust (Barbara) of Hutchinson, KS; sisters-in-law, Kay Armbrust-Feist of Arkansas, City, KS and Roberta Sallee of South Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Jenny Epp, Kenny Armbrust, Angie Carbajal (Raul), Chris Ledbetter (Haley), Matthew Ledbetter (Jessica), Heather Ledbetter, Gill Ledbetter, Derek Borth (Claudia), and Jessica Morrell (Troy); and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Ron Armbrust; son, Kirby Armbrust; and grandson, Charlie Ledbetter.

Armbrust, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; He was an electrician, working at Cessna in Hutchinson and Johns Manville in McPherson.Kenneth was born on July 26, 1931, in Claflin, KS, the son of William Henry and Wilhelmina Julianna (Lubinus) Armbrust.&nbsp; He graduated from Claflin High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; On November 10, 1953, Ken was united in marriage to Maxine Sallee in St. John, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to her passing on December 5, 2021.&nbsp;He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church.&nbsp; He was a longtime Red Cross volunteer, a Scoutmaster, and a volunteer fireman.Survivors include: a son, Jim Armbrust (Gerry) of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Patty Armbrust of Wichita, KS and Cindy Ledbetter (Charles) of Mustang, OK; a brother, Bob Armbrust (Barbara) of Hutchinson, KS; sisters-in-law, Kay Armbrust-Feist of Arkansas, City, KS and Roberta Sallee of South Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Jenny Epp, Kenny Armbrust, Angie Carbajal (Raul), Chris Ledbetter (Haley), Matthew Ledbetter (Jessica), Heather Ledbetter, Gill Ledbetter, Derek Borth (Claudia), and Jessica Morrell (Troy); and 15 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Ron Armbrust; son, Kirby Armbrust; and grandson, Charlie Ledbetter.The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time, Tuesday, at the church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Grace Lutheran Church LWML or the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.Personal condolences may be sent to the family at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stockhamfamily.com/" target="_blank">www.stockhamfamily.com</a>.

Alexander Palm Wyatt, 34, died on June 22, 2023, at his residence in Hollywood, California, where he was an active music blogger pursuing a career as a metal rock drummer.

He was born November 6, 1988, in Tacoma, Washington, and after spending his first years in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, his family moved to Salina, Kansas, in 1999, where he graduated from Central High School in 2007 and then from Kansas Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Theatre in 2012. &nbsp;During his High School and College days, he enjoyed many aspects of performing, playing trumpet in the Orchestra and Band, singing in the Choir and choral groups and acting in plays and musicals. &nbsp;Following graduation from KWU, he attended the Summer Arts Program in Monterey, California, and as a result, he decided to move to Hollywood and pursue a career in music performance.&nbsp;

Starting at an early age Alex developed a deep love of music. In grade school, he could identify almost any classical composer just by hearing a few seconds of a song. Over the years his tastes evolved and through the influence of his sister he learned about, and fell in love with, heavy metal. This love of music influenced trips all over the United States with his Father to attend countless rock concerts. Most recently, Alex and his Father attended the Motley Crue, Poison and Def Leppard Concert in August of 2022 at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

He loved family vacations traveling around the United States and abroad, especially to the family cottage in Canada.&nbsp; Those vacations generated lots of family lore about the ability of Alex and his sister to simulate a tornado passing through any room they shared.&nbsp; Alex enjoyed staying current on local and world events.&nbsp; He and his Mother spent many hours going over world affairs and academic subjects, especially math at which he became quite proficient.&nbsp; Finally, he loved to cook, especially on the outdoor grill at his residence overlooking Sunset and Vine in Hollywood while entertaining his friends.

Alex is survived by his parents, Margaret and Bruce Wyatt of Salina; his sister, Jessica and niece Mary Margaret of Baltimore, Maryland; as well as by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church,&nbsp;308 S 8th St, Salina, KS. A private interment was held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Alexander Palm Wyatt

Darrell Dean Malpert, 89, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29th at Lindsborg Community Hospital in Lindsborg, KS. Darrell was born March 21, 1934, at Nora, NE, the middle child of three sons born to John and Karen (Bach) Malpert. He was baptized April 22, 1934, at Salem Lutheran Church-Superior, NE, by Pastor C. Bunge.

Before the age of one, the family moved to Cadams, NE. Darrell began his education at Cadams until the family moved to Deshler, NE in 1942. On May 16, 1948, he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler by the Reverend R.H. Riensche. Darrell graduated from Deshler High School in 1951. He went on and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in June 1956. In the summers of his college years, Darrell worked in his uncle’s drug store where he learned the business side of pharmacy having the dream of owning his own store someday.

In September, after his college graduation, Darrell entered the armed services where he served at Dugway, Utah, as a laboratory technician and in Newfoundland, assigned to the Strategic Air Command hospital providing shot clinics and other medical services for the military personnel and their dependents. While in Newfoundland, his superiors noticed that Darrell was especially good with young children, therefore, any vaccinations for children were sent to him. He was honorably discharged in September 1958.

On February 14, 1959, Darrell was united in marriage to Janet Werner at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler NE, by Pastor Erwin Janssen. To this union, three daughters were born, Dawn, Avona and Meredith. The couple made their first home in Hebron, NE, where Darrell was a pharmacist at Christensen Drug. They later moved to Clarinda, IA, where he was a pharmacist for Hawley Drug for eight years. In 1969, Darrell fulfilled his dream and purchased Higdon Drug Store in Goodland, KS, where he and Janet owned and operated Malpert Drug Company for the next 28 years until Darrell’s retirement in 1997.

While in Goodland, KS, Darrell served on the city council, was a member of the Goodland Chamber of Commerce and served on the church council of Emmanual Lutheran Church.

Darrell was an avid fisherman. When he was not filling prescriptions, he would be at the lake. Darrell also enjoyed golfing on his days off, however he said that he would have been a better golfer if he didn’t spend so much time boating and fishing. Throughout his years in Goodland, Darrell shared his love of the lake with family and friends, spending many weekends boating and picnicking. Darrell also enjoyed swimming, hiking, and watching the stars. He enjoyed taking hikes with his family and getting the telescope out to share his knowledge of astronomy. Darrell is named in the International Star Registry with a star named after him. After Jan’s retirement in 2001, the couple moved to Lindsborg, KS. During retirement the couple enjoyed travelling, especially spending winter months in Green Valley, AZ. Darrell also enjoyed gardening and supplying the neighborhood with plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers.&nbsp; Darrell was an avid reader and enjoyed learning new things. He served on the Lindsborg Housing Authority as a board member of Villa Ro and was also a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Lindsborg Lions Club.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife Janet of 63 years, his parents, John and Karen Malpert, brother Kenneth Malpert, his father and mother-in-law Albert and Esther Werner, sisters-in-law Jane Malpert and Jan Werner.

He is survived by his three daughters, Dawn (Kendal) Rohr of Canton, KS; Avona (Scott) Wennihan of Columbus, NE; Meredith (Wayne) Pohlmann of Deshler, NE; brother Merlin (Barbara) Malpert of Nixa, MO, and brother-in-law Ronald Werner of Poplar Grove, IL. He was a proud grandparent to Bret (Zoe) and Scott (Tiffany) Rohr, Miranda (Todd) Jackson, Whitney (AJ) Bayerl, Emily Pohlmann, Megan (Zach) Mason, Jared (Cheyanna) Pohlmann, Ragan Pohlmann, fourteen great-grandchildren, many friends, and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., August 19th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, KS with burial in Deshler, NE, at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, the Lindsborg Lions Club, and Sunflower Terrace, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Sheri Lynn (Leister) Roesner, 58, died on July 31, 2023. She was born on June 14, 1965, to Gayle and Helen (Hoeffner) Leister. She attended South East of Salina and graduated from Sacred Heart High School where she was Homecoming Queen in 1983.&nbsp; She attended Dental Hygiene School at Wichita State and Kansas State University where she worked her way onto the Dean’s List in 86, 87 and her final graduation year in 88 and went on to be a highly esteemed hygienist in Austin, TX.

The name “Sheri” is derived from the word “Sunshine” and that is an understatement of who she was. She was the life of every party, light of every room and she will be deeply and dearly missed.

Growing up, Sheri was fond of riding horses, bowling, cheerleading and helping out with the family business.&nbsp; She was an avid traveler and speed walker and Lake Travis visitor. She was happiest on her boat listening to country music, spending time with her family, walking her dog “Buddy”, or somewhere on the beach. Her 3 children, Colton, Chase and Alyssa, were her whole life until she became “grandma” to Oaklynn, Parker and Stella.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gayle, her grandparents, William and Minnie Hoeffner and Glenn and Verna Leister. She was united in marriage to Tom Roesner.

She is survived by her children, Colton (Samantha), Chase, and Alyssa (Steven) Anderson; her mother, Helen and stepfather, Kenny Meyer; three brothers, Rick (Tina), Randy and Rusty (Kelly) and her beloved grandchildren, Oaklynn, Parker and Stella and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be offered at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be private in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ryan Mortuary on Friday, August 18, 2023, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm that evening. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth’s Parish.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence; daughter, Lori Loe; grandson, Blake Loe; great grandson, Atlas Loe of Olathe, KS; sister, Catherine L Borders; step siblings, Homer Dunn of Kansas City, MO;&nbsp; Leona Boddy of Albany, OR; Patricia Narron of Albany, OR. Franklin “Frank” Michael Massey, 12, died peacefully on August 3, 2023, surrounded by the love of his parents. He was born May 10, 2011, in Topeka, KS the last son of Sean and Michell (Radabaugh) Massey. He had just completed sixth grade.

He is survived by his parents, Sean and Michelle Massey; grandmother, Jonnie Massey, White City; two brothers, James, 25, Lincoln; John, 20, Salina; and sisters, Ann, 27, Abilene, Sarah, 23, McPherson and Tabatha, 13, Salina. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Nancy Radabauth, and grandpas, John Michael Radabaugh and Franklin D. Massey.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. August 12, 2023 at the St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, Salina. Burial will be at a later date in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Darrell Eugene Betzner Sr., born January 4, 1954, in Concordia, Kansas. He passed away on July 31, 2023, in Salina, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his his parents, John A. Betzner and Dorothy Betzner (Anderson), grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd L. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Betzner, and nephew, Ryan Peltier.

Darrell is survived by his companion Charlene K. Scott (and family); sons Darrell E Betzner JR (Christina) of Brookville and Chase E Betzner (Amber) of Tescott; daughter Dawn J. Holmes (Bradley) of Hutchinson; brother John "Boomer" C. Betzner (Annette) of Scandia; sisters Ann Buresh (Ken Lukavsky) of Salina, Jan Jacobson (Karl) of Concordia, and Laurie Betzner of Concordia; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Darrell was a hardworking man who served as a Maintenance Supervisor at K-State for 23 years before retiring to spend more time with family and friends. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching family members race, going on long rides, and spending time with family and friends.

He inspired and encouraged many young kids as a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America. Darrell made sure that any child who was a Boy Scout was able to go to camp and was a leader to countless kids, challenging them to become the best version of themselves.&nbsp; He took pride in his Eagle Scout and Golden Eagle status and his Mic-O-Say membership and found great fulfillment as a member of the 3- Clans dance team. Darrell truly embodied the spirit of Scout Law, which says, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

Darrell was an amazing man who touched the lives of all those he encountered. He had such an impactful presence while here on Earth, and we know, as a Scout, he is prepared for his next adventure.

Services to celebrate Darrell’s life will be held at the Brookville United Methodist Church, 114 W Anderson Street, Brookville Kansas, on Saturday, August 12, at 10 a.m.
