Charles Robert Everhart November 15, 1935 ~ March 3, 2024

Charles Robert Everhart, known to his family as Bob, and to friends as Charlie. You always knew who family was, or friend, by the way they addressed him.

Charlie was born and raised in Canton, KS. He graduated with the class of 1953. After graduation, he joined his brother and father in the oil fields. In 1958 he joined the railroad, where he remained for 39 years before retiring in 1997. Charlie had many accomplishments throughout his career. He served as the local union secretary for many years, was involved with the Shriners, and created the Kansas City Safety Committee.

Charlie’s personal life included a beautiful, blended family. In 1957, he married Rosie, with whom he had two children, Dennis and Terri. In 1970, he married Bernice Staatz. Bernice had two sons, Raymond &amp; Ronald Staatz, who Charlie loved as his own. He resided in Herington for 53 years, where he would tend to his amazing garden, working on various projects, and maintaining a robust train collection. Bob was very mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything. He loved having family around at the holidays and teaching the grandchildren &amp; great grandchildren to play pool in his basement.

Charlie’s best pastime was his home away from home, “the shed”. He worked on all of his many projects here, but more importantly he entertained his family and friends here with plenty of good cheer for all! After retirement, he continued his hobby of gardening, and shared a bountiful harvest with his family &amp; friends each year.

Charlie will be remembered as a hard-working man with a kind and generous heart. His family and friends will miss his physical presence on earth dearly, but the memories he made with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will last forever. &nbsp;

Clarence Alvin Peterson January 31, 1927 ~ March 6, 2024

Clarence Alvin Peterson of Salina, Kansas, passed away on March 6, 2024.&nbsp; Born on January 31, 1927, he was 97 years old.&nbsp; Clarence was the youngest son of Lawrence Albert Peterson and Mary M. Jennings.

Pete (as he liked to be called) was a veteran of World War II, joining the army after graduation.&nbsp; Because of his height (6’3”) and high school experience, after completing basic training he played basketball for one of the Army’s state-side teams at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, prior to completing military service in Germany as a member of the Army of Occupation.

He married Audrey Thurland Crabtree Johnson on January 22, 1949.&nbsp; They had one son, Kevin Richard Peterson.&nbsp; Pete and Audrey were married 64 years until Audrey’s death in 2013.

Pete enjoyed sports.&nbsp; Playing center in the Salina City League, he once scored 100 points in a single basketball game.&nbsp; Pete was an avid handball player and was ranked one of the top players in Salina for many years.&nbsp; He bowled for over 60 years, competed in many national tournaments, was elected to the Salina Bowlers Hall of Fame, and, at age 82, was named Salina Bowler of the Year – maintaining a 200 plus average in two different leagues.

Pete volunteered as a youth basketball coach, youth baseball coach, and Scouting assistant.&nbsp; He worked at the Salina Supply Company for 43 years, retiring as their Director of Purchasing.&nbsp; Following retirement, he volunteered at Salina Regional Hospital, served on the boards of St John’s Lutheran Church and Bethany Home, was a member of Salina Elks, VFW, past master of Lindsborg Masonic Lodge, Salina Consistory, and member of ISIS Shrine directors staff.&nbsp; He loved his family and always enjoyed his many friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Audrey, and older brother Charles Albert Peterson.&nbsp; Pete is survived by his son Kevin Peterson, daughter-in-law Lynn Peterson, grandchildren Kip Peterson and Kendra Kreimendahl (Chad), and great grandchildren Corbin, Katelyn (Dawson Driggs), Kira, Claire, and Coltrane Kreimendahl.

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family.&nbsp; The family suggests memorials to the Salina Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund or St John’s Lutheran Church, Salina, care of Ryan Mortuary.

Darlene K. (Norris) Querbach October 19, 1944 ~ March 3, 2024

Darlene K. (Norris) Querbach&nbsp;left us to go to her heavenly home on March 3, 2024.&nbsp; She was born in Salina, KS on October 19, 1944 to Melvin A. Norris and Emogene L.(Davis) Norris.

She attended schools in Salina and Topeka, KS. She started working as a trolley girl at Asbury Hospital and retired from Salina Regional Hospital Center after 42 years as the night cook.&nbsp; She married Robert E. Querbach on August 11, 1973. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past August 2023.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Bob and two sisters, Donna DeLaney and Linda Ogden of Salina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Paul Norris and Ron Norris.

There will be a visitation with the family on Friday March 15, 2024, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Jeanne Marie Sechrist, 98, Minneapolis, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Oakview at the Ottawa County Health Center.&nbsp; She was born May 25, 1925, in Ottawa County to Everett H. and Grace (Meiller) Bradbury.

Jeanne was a 1943 graduate of Ada Rural High School.&nbsp; On May 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerald Sechrist.&nbsp; Jeanne was a homemaker, an amazing cook, and helped on the family farm.&nbsp; She also played the piano for several dance bands.&nbsp; Jeanne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved wearing her earrings, necklaces, makeup, and having her nails painted.&nbsp;

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; brother, Bill Bradbury; sisters, Mary Baccus, Phyllis Adam, Eva Peterson, and Peggy Hofflinger.

Survivors are her daughters, Avanel Schneweis and her husband, Eric and Ardel Helget and her husband, Pat; granddaughters, Ashley Schneweis and Macy Manwaring and her husband, Alex; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Bob Bradbury; brother-in-law, Pete Peterson; special nephew, Jim Sechrist and his wife, Amber; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 9, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467.&nbsp; Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery, Ada. Eileen Rose Branstetter, 73, died February 25, 2024. She was born August 16, 1950, in Phillipsburg, KS, the daughter of Milo and Norma (Stevens) Gitchel. She was an LPN.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Branstetter; sisters, Lois Hass and Kathy WIllis; brother, Alan Gitchel and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Branstetter; grandchildren, Lance Branstetter, Simon Massey, Neaven Bass and great grandchildren, L.J. Branstetter, Adrien Branstetter and a brother, Delbert Gitchel.

Robert B. “Bob” McDowell, 75, of Hutchinson, passed away March 4, 2024, at his home. He was born January 13, 1949 to James and Lena (Standley) McDowell, in Pratt.

Bob retired from Panhandle Eastern after 31 years of service. Some of his accomplishments during his life were cabinet maker and owning his own upholstery business. Bob loved restoring old cars and doing woodworking projects. More than anything he loved to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Bob is survived by: his wife, Ginny McDowell; sons, Terry and Jeremy McDowell; daughter Angela Branscom (Steve); Ginny’s daughters, Bobbie Bascue, Kristie Wichert, and partner, Trevor Blake; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, James McDowell; sisters, Shirley Woodard and Sherry McDowell; and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 pm Friday, March 8, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 9 am to 8 pm on Thursday with family present from 5 to 7 pm at Elliott Mortuary.

Michael Duane Powell, 40, of Chanute, KS passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Erie, KS.&nbsp; He was born October 22, 1983 in Palm Springs, California the son of Gary Duane Powell and Veta Mensch.&nbsp; He graduated from a private high school in Chanute, KS. &nbsp;

Michael worked as a Cook at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, KS.

He enjoyed fishing and restoring old cars and houses.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Gary D. Powell; two brothers, Gary R. Powell and Steven Dale Powell; maternal grandfather, Harvey Mensch; maternal grandmother, Veta L. Mensch; paternal grandfather, Glenn Powell; and three aunts, Loleeta Mensch, Gina Downing and Glenda Haislip.

He is survived by a daughter, Brianna Perez-Powell; a son, Andrew Perez-Powell; the children’s mother, Lacey Perez; his mother, Veta Moffitt; step-father, Steven Moffitt; four sisters, Sabrina, Stephanie, Kim and Lisa; brother, Charles; grandson, Lijah Perez-Powell; paternal grandmother, Martha Halgrimson; six aunts; an uncle; twelve nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

Larry Lee Barnes, 71, of Ottawa, KS died Monday, March 4, 2024 at Rock Creek Memory Care in Ottawa, Kansas.

He was born November 10, 1952 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Donald and Betty Barnes.&nbsp; He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1970.&nbsp;

On February 8, 1992, Larry was united in marriage to Anne Province in Ottawa, Kansas.

While in high school, Larry began work as a carpet layer for Nitcher’s Flooring which later became Crook’s Flooring.&nbsp; He then worked at Duke Manufacturing for 19 years.&nbsp; For the last 25 years before retirement, he worked at Kalmar on the yard truck assembly line.

Larry enjoyed square dancing, and was a part of the Ottawa Promenaders.&nbsp; He also loved hunting, bowling, yard work, and painting the house.&nbsp; Most of all, he loved being a dad and grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Barnes of Ottawa, KS; a daughter, Amy Alfrey and her husband, John, of Junction City, KS; his mother, Betty Barnes of Ottawa, KS; a sister, Linda Ferris and her husband, Jim, of Ottawa, KS; 2 grandchildren, Tristan and Grayson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024 at Grace Community Fellowship Church, Ottawa, KS.&nbsp; To celebrate Larry’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.&nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Barnes Memorial Fund and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Virginia Nell Morse, 80, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 4th, 2024.

Virginia was born in Salina, Kansas on July 30, 1943, a daughter of Laura Agnes (Renard) and J. Vernon Bradshaw.

On February 24, 1962, Virginia married Clifton Morse.

Survivors include her two sons, Clifton "Robbie" Morse, of Salina, Gene Morse, (Dawn), of Canton, Kansas; daughter, Debbie Beaman, (Kris), of Salina; 4 grandchildren, Chelsea Shelton (Stephan), Shellby Westfall (Lance), Alex Cox (Bethany), Katie Beaman; and 3 great grandchildren, Kaylynn, Regan, and Owen.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifton; and brother, Arthur Bradshaw.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas, with Pastor Mike Miller officiating.

Marsha Stewart, 82, born in Salina, passed away March 3, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack Stewart. Together they leave six grown children-Sharon, Marina, Steve, Robert, Jennifer, and Rebecca-ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Marsha graduated Magna cum Laude from Kansas Wesleyan and served a brief stint with the U.S. Army. She conquered her many vocations of nurse, small business owner, and nursing home administrator, all the while pursuing her own art and making time to act on the Salina Community Theatre (SCT) stage. Marsha served on the SCT board, and the play-reading committee, then turned her talent to directing.

It was this last pursuit, where at the age of 60, Marsha directed &nbsp;the play “Wit” for SCT. The play was huge success winning accolades and awards. After wins at the State and Regional level “Wit” went onto &nbsp;the American Association of Community Theatre Festival’s national competition.&nbsp;&nbsp;Beating out hundreds of other entrants, “Wit” placed first nationally, and Marsha helped bring that honor back to Salina and the SCT.

Marsha was at the hub of the SCT family for six decades, hosting countless play parties, pool parties, nights around the piano, and holiday gatherings for friends craving a home base. Marsha and Jack were leading forces in helping establish what is now known as Theatre Salina.

Marsha was temperamentally an artist, intensely curious, a voracious reader, an incredible cook, a wonderful actress and a maker and collector of art. To know Marsha was to know joy and laughter.&nbsp;&nbsp;To be mentored by her was a high compliment.&nbsp;

Born an only child, Marsha was to choose her own sisters and brothers, the many friends she loved, laughed with, and leaves behind.

Marsha’s best art was her life rendered in full color.&nbsp;

Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 am March 15 at the Theatre Salina.&nbsp;

Mary Ann (Wood) Vidricksen August 11, 1932 ~ March 3, 2024

Mary Ann Vidricksen, 91, died peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Lindsborg Community&nbsp; Hospital in Lindsborg, Kansas. Mary Ann was born August 11, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Tillman Wood and Esther Dewdrop (Shaver) Wood. Mary Ann was the middle child of three children, the eldest Kenneth Wood and the youngest Waunita Johnephine (Wood) Gallagher. Mary Ann graduated from Cambridge High School in Cambridge, Kansas, in 1950, as one of the four graduates in her class.

Mary Ann met her future husband Norman Lee Vidricksen on a blind date arranged by her brother KT. They were married August 6, 1950 in Winfield, Kansas. To this union, 3 children were born, Daniel Dean "Boone", Henry Lee and Sandra Ann. Mary Ann worked as a bank teller at the Fourth National Bank in Wichita, KS, until Norman and Mary Ann purchased and started Vidricksen Distributing Company, an Anhauser-Busch Distributorship in 1963.

Besides helping with the family business, she enjoyed bowling on leagues with her friends and being involved with the American Paint Horse Association. Mary Ann served several terms as President and Secretary of the Kansas Paint Horse Association along with being a National Director for the State of Kansas with APHA. She spent several years traveling and showing paint horses with her daughter Sandy and granddaughter Stacie. Mary Ann also enjoyed attending church at Peace Lutheran Church in New Cambria.

Survivors include her son Daniel "Boone" Vidricksen of Salina KS, her daughter-in-law Phyllis Vidricksen of Brookville KS and her daughter Sandy (James) Spani of Salina KS. Her grandchildren, Stacie (Patrick) Lundquist of Brookville, KS, Boone (Nashlyn) Vidricksen of Hays, KS, Ashley Vidricksen of Wichita, KS, Audrey (Josh) Cook of Salina, KS, Megan Vidricksen of Oahu, Hi, Sidney Vidricksen of Brookville, KS and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Vidricksen; son, Henry "Hank" Vidricksen; brother, Kenneth “KT" Wood; and sister, Waunita Gallagher.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.&nbsp; A funeral service with be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 8th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salina. Burial will be at the Brookville City Cemetery. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather at Martinelli's Little Italy in Salina.

Larry Elwin Plaggerman June 22, 1936 ~ March 4, 2024

Larry Elwin Plaggerman, 87, of Salina, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024.&nbsp; He was born on June 22, 1936 to Albert and Gladys Plaggerman in Sandstone, MN.&nbsp; Larry graduated from Sandstone High School in 1954 and was the class president.&nbsp; He was working in Washington State and was drafted by the Army in 1959 and served at Fort Riley until 1961.&nbsp; Larry was president of Beneficial Finance for many years.&nbsp; In 1972, he opened two car lots, Larry’s Auto Sales, in Junction City.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was elected by the City Commission in 1979 to 1985, served as Mayor in 1981 and 1983.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Optimist Club. &nbsp;

Larry and Cleo Ann Rassette were married January 20, 1973 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp; In 2006, the moved to Salina and he was elected as an Elder, at Trinity Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He served Meals on Wheels since 2007.&nbsp; Larry enjoyed “Golf with Seniors” supporting Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas City Royals and his local teams.&nbsp; His last request to Cleo was he wanted to visit Sandstone to try and remember certain memories, she took him in October 2023. &nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Cleo, of the home; daughters, Shonna (Larry) Nely, of Abilene and Sheila (Kevin) Shaw, of Ottawa; grandchildren, Danielle (Scottie) Ridder, of Abilene, Marshall (Katie) Nely, of Wichita, Sage (Stephanie) Shaw, and Dalton Shaw, all of Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Kylen, McKenna and Locklynn Ridder, Christian Nely, and Liam Shaw; step-great grandchildren, Trey and Brooke Reisman; sister, Karen (Jerry) Nelson, of Sandstone, MN and sister in law, Mavis Plaggerman, Spokane, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Clarice (Harold) Sawatzke; brother, Marvin Plaggerman.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, visitation will begin at 10 a.m.&nbsp; Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Larry E. Plaggerman

Caroline “Mitsy” Jo (Sweat) Benne April 5, 1943 ~ March 1, 2024

Caroline Jo Benne&nbsp;was born on her grandparent’s farm on April 5th, 1943. She died March 1st, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp; She lived 80 years, 10 months, 25 days, the majority of which as a resident of Republic County, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was the first of five children born to Milton Sweat and his wife Rosie (Jensen) Sweat, sister Minda, brother Loren, and twin sisters Karen and Sharon followed.&nbsp; For many Caroline was always “Mitsy,” a nickname given in reference to her father, Mitt. &nbsp;

She attended Kackley Grade School from 1st. through 8th. grade and graduated from Courtland High School in 1961.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Shortly after graduation she married Don Ridpath and to this union two boys were born, Robert (1963) and David (1965).&nbsp; Following her divorce from Don, she met and married Carl Clintsman in 1967. With this marriage Caroline gained a stepdaughter, Carla (Clintsman) Pata (1959).&nbsp; Sadly, Carl passed away in 1972. &nbsp;

In 1976 Caroline married Howard Benne, gaining another stepdaughter Jodi (Benne) Swanson (1968).&nbsp; They were soon joined by a son, Steven (1976). Stephanie (1977) and Michael (1978) were born prematurely and entered glory shortly after their births to await their loving mother and father. &nbsp;

As Caroline and Howard raised their family in Concordia throughout the 1980s, Caroline stayed busy with church activities at the First Christian Church of Concordia, selling Watkins products, supporting Meals on Wheels, singing in the choir and other programs. &nbsp;

In 1999 Caroline moved with Howard and Steven to their farm one mile south of Kackley, Kansas.&nbsp; There, Caroline enjoyed her chickens, ducks, geese, guineafoul, turkeys and rabbits.&nbsp; She took great pride in showing her topknot banty roosters and her beloved goose, Ebby. &nbsp;

She will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and compassion for anyone in need, her skilled hand with a sewing machine or crochet hook, and the food that she prepared.&nbsp; There was seldom a disappointment from Caroline’s kitchen.&nbsp; Her cookies are renowned and her pies, casseroles, roasts and even her magic with Jello salads caused “Mitsy’s” to be a destination place for anyone who knew her. &nbsp;

She loved Elvis, Billy Graham, the Bible, Christian television and radio programs, her Soaps and she was as shocked as anyone when she found out J.R. had shot the mirror.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husbands Carl and Howard, children Stephanie and Michael.

She will be fondly remembered by her siblings- Minda, Loren, Karen and Sharon.&nbsp; Her Children- Carla, Robert, David, Jodi and Steven. Along with her grandkids, great grandkids and many other cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. &nbsp;

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; Services are set for March 9th, 2024, at 3:00p.m. at the Courtland Covenant Church, in Courtland, Kansas.&nbsp; She will be laid to rest with her husband, Howard Benne at the Valley Cemetery Southeast of Norway following the service.&nbsp; A portion of her remains will also be laid to rest with her husband Carl and her dear babies in Concordia at a later date. &nbsp;

A short visitation will be available the evening of Friday March 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Courtland Covenant Church, 505 Republic St., Courtland, Kansas.

 </figure>Caroline “Mitsy” Jo (Sweat) Benne April 5, 1943 ~ March 1, 2024Caroline Jo Benne&nbsp;was born on her grandparent’s farm on April 5th, 1943. She died March 1st, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp; She lived 80 years, 10 months, 25 days, the majority of which as a resident of Republic County, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was the first of five children born to Milton Sweat and his wife Rosie (Jensen) Sweat, sister Minda, brother Loren, and twin sisters Karen and Sharon followed.&nbsp; For many Caroline was always “Mitsy,” a nickname given in reference to her father, Mitt. &nbsp;She attended Kackley Grade School from 1st. through 8th. grade and graduated from Courtland High School in 1961.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Shortly after graduation she married Don Ridpath and to this union two boys were born, Robert (1963) and David (1965).&nbsp; Following her divorce from Don, she met and married Carl Clintsman in 1967. With this marriage Caroline gained a stepdaughter, Carla (Clintsman) Pata (1959).&nbsp; Sadly, Carl passed away in 1972. &nbsp;In 1976 Caroline married Howard Benne, gaining another stepdaughter Jodi (Benne) Swanson (1968).&nbsp; They were soon joined by a son, Steven (1976). Stephanie (1977) and Michael (1978) were born prematurely and entered glory shortly after their births to await their loving mother and father. &nbsp;As Caroline and Howard raised their family in Concordia throughout the 1980s, Caroline stayed busy with church activities at the First Christian Church of Concordia, selling Watkins products, supporting Meals on Wheels, singing in the choir and other programs. &nbsp;In 1999 Caroline moved with Howard and Steven to their farm one mile south of Kackley, Kansas.&nbsp; There, Caroline enjoyed her chickens, ducks, geese, guineafoul, turkeys and rabbits.&nbsp; She took great pride in showing her topknot banty roosters and her beloved goose, Ebby. &nbsp;She will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and compassion for anyone in need, her skilled hand with a sewing machine or crochet hook, and the food that she prepared.&nbsp; There was seldom a disappointment from Caroline’s kitchen.&nbsp; Her cookies are renowned and her pies, casseroles, roasts and even her magic with Jello salads caused “Mitsy’s” to be a destination place for anyone who knew her. &nbsp;She loved Elvis, Billy Graham, the Bible, Christian television and radio programs, her Soaps and she was as shocked as anyone when she found out J.R. had shot the mirror.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husbands Carl and Howard, children Stephanie and Michael.She will be fondly remembered by her siblings- Minda, Loren, Karen and Sharon.&nbsp; Her Children- Carla, Robert, David, Jodi and Steven. Ardyce E. (Gage) Bell July 10, 1928 ~ March 5, 2024

Ardyce E. (Gage) Bell was 95 and a half years old at her passing on March 5, 2024.&nbsp; She was the daughter of long time Salina businessman B.B. Gage and Elizabeth Fern (Kirkland) Hartman (both deceased).&nbsp; Born in Fairbury, NE in 1928. She graduated Salina’s Washington High School in 1946 and met her husband, Willis E. Bell (deceased) at Kansas State University.

She is survived by two sons, Kirby and Kevin Bell, a grandson Patrick Bergmeier of Lawrence, KS, a granddaughter Shelby Bell of Coon Rapids, MN.&nbsp; There are 4 great grandchildren.

In additional to wife and mother Ardyce was a Red Cross volunteer, church volunteer, den mother, and real estate salesperson with J.P. Weigand &amp; Sons in Wichita, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was an example of how to love one’s family, friends, and neighbors.&nbsp; She will be truly missed.

Funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Ryan Mortuary, visitation will begin at 9 a.m.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Robert M. Sumpter March 24, 1937 ~ March 3, 2024

Robert M. Sumpter, 86, of Ottawa, KS passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his home.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born March 24, 1937 in Parsons, KS the son of Brittie E. Sumpter and Ethel Mae (McGaughey) Sumpter.

Robert served our country in the United States Air Force as Airman 2nd&nbsp;Class from 1954 to 1957.&nbsp;

He was the owner of Robert’s Pest Control, Ottawa, KS for many years. After "retiring" nearly&nbsp;twenty years ago,&nbsp;he worked with his son, Michael at Robert's Pest Control in Topeka and with a friend at another local pest control company.

He married Doris Crable in August, 1955, divorcing later, after raising five children together. He was united in marriage to Ruth L.&nbsp; Anderson on August 7, 1989 in Miami, OK&nbsp;they shared over thirty-four years of marriage.

Mr. Sumpter was preceded in death by his parents, Brittie and Ethel Mae Sumpter;&nbsp; four brothers, Earl, Fred,&nbsp; Ernest, and Raymond Sumpter; three sisters, Dora Mae Johnson, Martha Cole and Barbara J. Gustin; a half-sister, Lucille Sumpter; step-sister, Juanita Kraus; step-brother, Eddie Baker; granddaughter, Courtney Sumpter; and great grandson, Blake Cazier.

Surviving family includes his wife, Ruth L. Sumpter of the home; three sons, Michael (Nancy) Sumpter, Jeff (Barbara) Sumpter and Robert Sumpter II all of Topeka, KS; two daughters, Pamela (Don) Borneman Meriden, KS and Robin (Leo) Schreiner Topeka, KS; a step-daughter, Haley (Sarah) Anderson Ottawa, KS; stepson, Aaron (Kelly) Anderson Topeka, KS; sister, Bernice Shamblin Lorena, TX; half-sister, Nora Murry Topeka, KS; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren.

Eugene’s life began on November 20, 1945, in Newton. He was the son of Alfred and Margaret (Rutschman) Gronau. Eugene was a graduate of Whitewater High School. He was a mechanic by trade and had owned the Standard Oil station in Newton for many years. In his later years, he worked as a rural mail courier in the Whitewater area making the rounds with his dog at his side. Eugene enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He was always working on something, putting a wrench to an engine, generally with his beloved dog&nbsp;nearby. Eugene is survived by his sons Steve (Jenny) Gronau of Halstead, Evan (Megan) Gronau of Baldwin City, and Avery (Kacey) Gronau of Lawrence; grandchildren Sarah, Alyx, Ashley, Maggie and Garrison Gronau; great grandchildren Emma, Brantley, and Owen; his sister Sharon (Bill) Tolle of Wichita,&nbsp;sister-in-law Mari Gronau of Overland Park&nbsp;and his dog Rufus. Gregory “Greg” Allen Davis September 20, 1953 ~&nbsp;February 28, 2024

Gregory “Greg” Allen Davis was born September 20, 1953 in Salina, Kansas the son of Willard and Mavis (Sandquist) Davis. He passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

Greg grew up in the Abilene area, graduated from Abilene High School, and received his Associates Degree from ColbyCommunity College. Greg was a mechanic his entire adult life and owner/operator of G &amp; D Service in Abilene until his retirement.

He enjoyed learning about the newest technology, watching western movies and shows, attending K-State football games, and watching all K-State sports, but his love was his children and grandchildren. He loved grilling for them and having them over for family dinners.

On February 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to Debbie Lady. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his father Willard of Abilene, daughters Erin Signer and her husband Brad of Abilene, Lauren Steinlage and her husband Jonathan of Abilene, son Lucas Davis and his wife Sophia of Scottsdale, Arizona, brothers Bruce Davis of Powhattan, Virginia, Lee Davis of Salina, Jeff Davis of Abilene, Terry Davis of Charlotte, North Carolina, sisters Cindy Neill of Emporia, Denise Neill of Phoenix, Arizona, Glenna Phillips of Salina, five grandchildren Kellen Signer, Aiden Davis, Korbin Davis, Adley Steinlage, and Isaac Steinlage. He was preceded in death by his mother Mavis, and brother Danny Davis.

Funeral services for Greg will be March 12, 2024 at Emmanuel Church in Abilene with Pastor Marc Riegel officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:00am, service at 10:00 am, and burial to follow. His final resting place will be in the Abilene Cemetery.

James L. “Jim” Frohardt July 14, 1943 ~&nbsp;March 3, 2024

James L. “Jim” Frohardt was born July 14, 1943 in Clay Center, Kansas the son of Emil Laverne and Myrtle Chamberlin Frohardt. Jim passed away March 3, 2024 at Stormont Vail Flint Hill campus in Junction City. Jim attended the Upland School and graduated from DCCHS with the class of 1961.

After graduation Jim worked for the Alida Coop, the City of Chapman in the capacity of a police officer and Chief of Police. Jim also served as long time Chapman Fire Chief as well as a member of Dickinson County Fire District #1. Jim operated the Frohardt Garage and farmed for many years.

Jim married Kathy Manbeck on October 4, 1964 in Chapman. Jim is survived by his wife Kathy of the home, his daughter Tina Frohardt of Chapman, his son Shawn Frohardt of Topeka and his loyal four-legged son Riley. Jim is also survived by his grandsons Joel Jordan of Junction City and Trent Jordan and his wife Stephanie of rural Chapman, his sister-in-law Vicki Rehm (Dean) of Abilene and nephew Chad Livingston (Michele) of Abilene, and Brian Livingston (Angie) of Olathe, KS and a niece Stacia Wiley (Darin) of Chapman as well as great nieces and nephew Kaylee Livingston, Tori and Jaxon Foy. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Martin Joseph Hauk, 73, passed away on February 26, 2024 at his home in Salina, KS.

Martin was born on November 11, 1950 in Waukesha, WI to parents Joseph Martin and Gertrude (Zerbert) Hauk.

Martin was a Senior Airman in the Air Force.

Martin was working as a Pilot for Plane Masters/UPS.

Marty was an excellent motorcycle mechanic, but was not allowed to use any carpenter tools. He was a leader of the Romeo Riders and a member of the CMA Christian Motorcycle Club. He loved his family and friends but especially his daughter, Jessica.

Martin is survived by Daughter: Jessica Teramura of Waukesha, WI; Others: David Schwartztrauber (Friend/Caregiver) of Salina, KS, Joe Hauk (Brother) of WI, Marie Wells (Sister) of Warsaw, MO, 3 nieces, 2 great-nieces, 1 great-great-niece and 3 great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel in Salina, KS, with Pastor Doug Hamilton and David Schwartztrauber officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1432 of Salina, KS. Richard “Dick” Dean Koenig August 6, 1933 ~&nbsp;February 29, 2024

Richard “Dick” Dean Koenig, 90, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Kansas City and Eureka, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born on August 6, 1933, in Wichita, KS, the son of Frank Henry and Maude Mae (Cummins) Koenig.&nbsp; He graduated from Parsons High School and received an associate’s degree from Butler County Community College. On October 23, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Wood in Poplar Bluff, MO.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to her passing on June 23, 2023.

Richard served briefly in the United States Army and later enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War.&nbsp; Prior to being a Regional Claims Manager for Farm Bureau Insurance, he was a Colorado State Highway Patrol Officer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Masonic Lodge, Midian Shrine, Sons of the American Revolution, and Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include three children, Cheryl (Galen) Swisher of Kula, HI, Steve (Connie) Koenig of Maize, KS, and Judy (Robert) Sanders of Evans, GA; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Lucille Taylor, Dorothy Pracht, Frank “Bud” Koenig, Charles Koenig, and Harry “Darwin” Koenig; and great-grandson, Hendrix Koenig.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 8, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Pracht officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral&nbsp; home.

She was born November 2, 1935 in Solomon, Kansas to the late Virgil and Blanche (Liby) McFarland.

Pat enjoyed reading, watching crime TV shows and listening to 50’s and 60’s music, camping, bowling, watching her loved one’s race cars and motorcycles and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years Rolland “Slim” Crocker, brother: Clayton McFarland and stepson: Rolland Crocker.
