C. Stanley Nelson, 96, of Salina, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born May 19, 1925 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Carl and Hearty Nelson.

He was raised in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After spending a year as an undergraduate at KU, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943. He spent three years in the Pacific. Once WWII ended and he was discharged from the Marines, he went back to KU, finished his undergraduate degree, and graduated from the University of Kansas law school.

He married Rosemary Gaines in 1949. In 1950 they moved to Salina and he joined the law firm that is now known as Hampton &amp; Royce, where he spent over 60 years practicing law. They raised four sons. He was active in many community activities and held many leadership positions: Saline County Economic Development Council, YMCA, Salina Country Club, and Salina Chamber of Commerce.

C. Stanley brought joy to every group he was part of, whether at the office or with friends. He loved traveling to the Ozarks for many family boating and tennis-playing vacations and later on many overseas trips. He was a diehard Jayhawk fan and loved tailgating at KU football games for over 30 years. He loved Kansas basketball and had met Phog Allen on many occasions.

He had a very unique and healthy approach to life. He didn’t regret or reminisce about anything in the past, nor did he worry or even think about the future. He only focused on one day at a time.

Wherever he was, he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He loved meeting new people, asked a lot of questions, was a great listener, and left everyone feeling better. Though he didn’t use the phrase himself, he was the perfect example of someone who tried to be more interested than interesting.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Rosemary Gaines Nelson and his brother Arthur Nelson.

Survivors include four sons: Steve (and Sharon Persinger) of Salina, KS; Jeff (and wife Lisa) of Overland Park, KS; Mike (and Bridget Smithmier) of Leawood, KS; and Kendal (and Karen Williams) of Wichita, KS; as well as four grandchildren, Chris (and wife Michele) and Colby Nelson and Carley and Kate Nelson. Special recognition for the incredible relationship, companionship, and love of Ann Neumann of Salina, KS over the past ten years.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth. Private family burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Wes grew up in Salina, served in the U.S. Army and had a long career in law enforcement and retired as the security supervisor from K-State University-Salina.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Doyle and William "James". He is survived by his sisters Sharon (Glen) Barnum, Karen (Dennis) Krier and Carol (Mike) Hirsch and sister in laws Shelly Teel and Debbie Teel. Wes prided himself on being the uncle to nine nephews and three nieces as well as their many children. Wes had many special friends in his life. Many in the law enforcement community in Salina knew him as "Old Man River". They knew he often was watching and guarding their calls hoping to send them home safely. Shelly and John in dispatch always knew he was listening. He will also be missed very much by his dear friends Kip, Carol, Maxine and Eddie. &nbsp;

Michael Scott Hart, 70, died at his home May 26, 2021. Scott was born October 5, 1950, in Salina, Kansas to Willard and Ione (Nelson) Hart. Scott and his older brother, Jeff, grew up on the family’s farm near Barnard, Kansas. He attended grade school in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Following graduation Scott moved to Washington State to custom farm. In March 1969, Scott enrolled in flight lessons at Ellington, Washington, taking his first solo flight by the end of that month. By the following year, he had finished in time for the next crop to be harvested. Scott remained an aviation enthusiast and enjoyed flying to Oshkosh, Wisconsin every year for the annual air show.

Scott was drafted into the US Army in March of 1970. He was off to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina where he was trained as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged October 1972. His parting comment was, “I’ll never cut my hair again.”

The following year he enrolled at Fort Hays State College. During his year there, he met his future bride, Dianna Sue Stephen. The couple were married November 27, 1976 in the Bogue Community Methodist Church. To this union were born two children: Nathan and Megan.

The newlyweds made their home in Atwood for three years while Scott worked on a custom harvest crew. Dianna would always go along and recalled she did a great deal of “summer” reading. They traveled much of the Midwest during those summers; through Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Montana. The couple moved to Bogue in 1979. Scott began farming and running cattle with his father-in-law, Leon, and his brother-in-law Greg.

In May of 2016, Scott was involved in an accident on the farm that left him with deep second and third degree burns on 41 per cent of his body. He was hospitalized for 90 days and endured a long recovery. His faith and good humor got him through treatment and rehab making him stronger just as long as the therapists didn’t play country music! Many prayers were offered during this time not only from his friends and the good people of Graham County, but also from around the world.

Scott always enjoyed playing men’s softball and town team basketball. His orange Converse shoes were always part of the conversations during these games! He was a dedicated farmer and loved operating the combine during harvest. He was a giving and good-hearted soul, always willing to help anyone who asked or if he just saw the need. Shortly after the death of his brother-in-law Greg in 1993, Scott began EMS training and became an EMT. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years in Bogue. Scott was an active member of the Bogue Service Club, Methodist Church and the Masons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ione; his father-in-law, Leon Stephen; his brother-in-law, Gregory Stephen and wife Tammy.

Leaving to carry on his zest for life are his wife, Dianna of the home; children: Nathan and wife Megan, Bogue, Megan and husband Eric Nickelson, Rose Hill; grandchildren: Ella, Eva, Ethan and Ean Hart; Carsen, Ainsley, Charlotte and Cameron Nickelson; his brother Jeff Hart and wife Joy, Salina; nephews: Justin, Britton, Micah Hart and families; mother-in-law, Agnes Stephen, Stockton; sister-in-law Kim Nutting, Bogue and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. We can all hear him saying, “See ya around if you don’t get square.”

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at Stinemetz Funeral Home,&nbsp; 522 N. Pomeroy Avenue in Hill City. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Bogue United Methodist Church,&nbsp;902 Hummingbird Road in&nbsp; Bogue.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He also worked in maintenance at Central Plastics and in the oil fields as a driller and roughneck. Larry was born on January 16, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the son of Kermit P. and Sophia C. (Unruh) Becker. On October 6, 1957, Larry was united in marriage to Goldie Marie Clarkson in Larned, KS. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2013. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Canton American Legion and McPherson V.F.W. He attended Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson. Survivors include: four children, Reba Becker (Duane) of Lindsborg, KS, Stephanie Becker (Eric Peterson) of Olathe, KS, Justin Becker of Canton, KS, and Denise Taylor (Mike) of Canton, KS; siblings, Marion Becker (Carolyn) of Montezuma, KS, Gordon Becker (Carolyn) of Kirksey, KY, and Dale Becker (Joyce) of Siloam Springs, AR; a granddaughter, Monica Diederich; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Holly Leiker; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Dwayne’s life began on December 6, 1927, in Herington.&nbsp; He was the son of Charles and Edith (Schuster) Stroda.&nbsp; Dwayne is a 1946 graduate of Herington High School.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Delores M. Bezdek on May 1, 1954, in Marion.&nbsp; 

Dwayne was a lifelong farmer and rancher in rural Herington.&nbsp; He was a parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington and a member of the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; Dwayne was a member of the Farm Bureau and the U.S. Custom Harvesters Association.&nbsp; 

He loved spending time with his friends over coffee at the coffee shop and enjoyed creating metalworks.&nbsp; Dwayne was a people person. He never knew a stranger and genuinely loved people.&nbsp; He enjoyed card club and supper club and loved to travel. Dwayne and Delores traveled to Hawaii on an anniversary trip, and to nearly all 50 states. He and Delores also enjoyed bus trips to the casino with friends.&nbsp; He enjoyed his family and family reunions.&nbsp; 

Dwayne’s loving family includes his children Darrell (Laurie) Stroda of Pratt, Chuck (Kim) Stroda of Abbottstown, PA, Pat (Kathryn) Carpenter of Oceanside, CA and Mary (Gordon) Schroeder of Herington, and son-in-law Bill Suenram of Salina; his grandchildren Hayley ( Tony) Ferris, Nick Suenram, Ben Suenram, Sadie Suenram, Gordon M. (Mary) Schroeder, Jason (Lisa) Schroeder, Erik Schroeder, Matt Stroda, Lindsay (Tom) Schuurman, and Josh Carpenter; 20 great-grandchildren and his siblings Ralph Stroda, Oraina Schump, LaVada Holub, sister-in-law Rosemary Stroda and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

Dwayne passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Geary Community Hospital.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, daughter Pam Suenram, and brother Dean Stroda.&nbsp;

Joseph L. “Joe” Zey of Abilene passed away peacefully Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Presbyterian Manor in Salina. He was born May 3, 1928 in Abilene the son of Louis and Pearl (Garten) Zey. He grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School where he earned a football scholarship to play in college. On September 30, 1947 Joe married his high school sweetheart Donna Johnston in Abilene. She was AHS' first homecoming queen. Together they owned and operated Zey’s Market from 1948 until his retirement in 1990. Joe was a kind, humble, gentle and soft-spoken man with a great sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1661. He and Donna rarely missed Mass every week. Joe loved sports and besides playing and watching football, he liked to bowl, fish, hunt, ride horses, and shoot blue rock at the “farm” with his family and friends. Joe also loved gardening and growing tomatoes. Joe and Donna were proud of their five sons and attended football, and wrestling meets they participated in. The boys all helped their parents in the grocery business growing up, especially having fun running the firecracker stand every year. He is survived by his sons John and his wife Joyce of Topeka, Robert and his wife Vicki of Abilene, Rick and his wife Donna of Salina, Steve and his wife Kris of Papillion, Nebraska, daughter-in-law Mary Zey of Abilene, sisters Cecilia Sexton of Abilene, Jane and her husband Stan Veal of Abilene, Irene and her husband Tom Glennon of Kearney, Missouri, Linda Zey of Prairie Village, Kansas, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David, great-grandson Jacob Delimont, sisters Martha Cook, Pauline Sims, Louise Miller, Patty Corley, and his parents. He was born May 3, 1928 in Abilene the son of Louis and Pearl (Garten) Zey. He grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School where he earned a football scholarship to play in college. On September 30, 1947 Joe married his high school sweetheart Donna Johnston in Abilene. She was AHS' first homecoming queen. Together they owned and operated Zey’s Market from 1948 until his retirement in 1990. Joe was a kind, humble, gentle and soft-spoken man with a great sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1661. He and Donna rarely missed Mass every week. Joe loved sports and besides playing and watching football, he liked to bowl, fish, hunt, ride horses, and shoot blue rock at the “farm” with his family and friends. Joe also loved gardening and growing tomatoes. Joe and Donna were proud of their five sons and attended football, and wrestling meets they participated in. The boys all helped their parents in the grocery business growing up, especially having fun running the firecracker stand every year. He is survived by his sons John and his wife Joyce of Topeka, Robert and his wife Vicki of Abilene, Rick and his wife Donna of Salina, Steve and his wife Kris of Papillion, Nebraska, daughter-in-law Mary Zey of Abilene, sisters Cecilia Sexton of Abilene, Jane and her husband Stan Veal of Abilene, Irene and her husband Tom Glennon of Kearney, Missouri, Linda Zey of Prairie Village, Kansas, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David, great-grandson Jacob Delimont, sisters Martha Cook, Pauline Sims, Louise Miller, Patty Corley, and his parents. A parish rosary for Joe will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Father Randall Weber as celebrant. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara Zemanick; daughter Judy Zemanick; sister Elizabeth Dillon, and brother William Zemanick.

He married his wife Barbara on July 1, 1961. Michael is survived by two sons, Mike Zemanick and wife, Brenda, of Inman, South Carolina, and Walter Zemanick and wife Regina, of Wichita; three daughters, Laurie Harwood, of Great Bend, Jennifer Callis and husband Casey, of Abilene, and Jodi Feist and husband Curtis, of Salina; 12 grandchildren (Justin, Rodney, Tyler, Kristen, Mason, Sierra, Matthew, Noah, Morgan, Lexie, Evan, and Mia); and seven great-grandchildren (Eugene, Zoey, Cooper, Hayden, Dawson, Crew and Sofia).

Michael worked the majority of his life as a mechanical engineer at the Fuller Brush Company in Great Bend, Kansas. His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting, camping, and spending as much time as possible with his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed volunteering his time at Catholic Charities, USD 305’s Adult Education Center, and being a member of Knights of Columns #8196.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2 with family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. and a vigil beginning at 7 p.m., all at Ryan Mortuary.

SALINA - James W. Spence, 91, of Salina passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 23, 2021.&nbsp; Jim was born in the Dry Creek Community near Willow Springs, Missouri on May 27, 1929, a son of the late Ira and Rhilda Spence.

Jim retired as resident manager of Webster Conference Center in 1997.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene traveled to many camp manager conferences and loved to extend the time away by visiting many new areas of the country.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene traveled to 47 states and Canada.&nbsp; Jim continued working for Omli and Associates as a member of the auction crew.&nbsp; Jim was never found idle, his hobby was his love of work and enjoying time with others.&nbsp; He loved his children and grandchildren. He could be found teaching them his love of gardening and woodworking.&nbsp;

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Salina and served on numerous committees.

Jim and Darlene (Kelso) were married on April 5, 1986 in Salina, KS.&nbsp; Jim is survived by his wife Darlene of Salina; sons Gary Spence of Cashmere, WA; Scot Kelso (Debra) of Hesston, KS; and John Ed Kelso (Deanna) of Ada, OK; daughters April Brown of Shoreline, WA; Kelly (Mike Davert) of Plymouth, MN; Lynn (Curt Marshall) of Salina, KS; Margaret (James Peterson) of Beverly, KS and special friend Jason Gabriel of Vermont.&nbsp;

Jim is also survived by nine grandchildren and five grea-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, son Michael, and granddaughter Hadley.

A memorial service will be held June 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.mm. at First Southern Baptist Church in Salina.&nbsp; Jim choose the honorable gift of body donation to the University of Kansas School of Medicine for education and research that will ensure quality health care for future generations.

Gerald “Dean” Strutt passed away on May 29, 2021, at his home in 
Stockton, KS, at the age of 87. He was born to Theodore and Sarah 
(Cadoret) Strutt on March 5, 1934 in Rural Osborne County. He was united
 in marriage to Clara Lee Livingston on May 1, 1956 at Gretna, KS. They 
were married 65 years and were blessed with two children: Mickey and 
Gail.
 Dean grew up in Osborne County and attended several different 
country schools. His favorite was Greenwood School with teacher Ruth 
Hikesmith. He graduated from Pleasant Plains School and went to work for
 a farmer north of Alton. He worked on the Webster Dam running a scraper
 for about three years, and then to Frank Walkers Service Station. Last,
 he worked for Rooks County from 1958 to 1994 when he retired. He was 
then elected Rooks County Commissioner for four years. Dean was baptized
 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, KS.
 Left to cherish Dean’s memories is his wife, Clara Strutt of the 
home in Stockton; children, Mickey (Marcia) Strutt of McPherson and Gail
 (Diana) Strutt of Stockton; brother, Joseph (Ada) Strutt of Stockton; 
sisters, Gertrude (Howard) Morgan of Marion, KS and Judith (Tom) Butler 
of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Bonnie Strutt of Lincoln, KS; five 
grandchildren, Bradley Strutt, Hayley (Steven) Moll, Macey Strutt, Ryan 
(Lisa) Strutt, and Shawn Strutt; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Max,

Nadine Gay (Decker) Spence, 66, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, in Henderson, NV. Nadine was born, June 2, 1954, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Susie L. (Rudiger) Decker. She attended Canton Public Schools where she was a cheerleader and May Day Queen, and she graduated in 1972 as valedictorian of her class. She attended Hutchinson Junior College, Pittsburg State University, and graduated from McPherson College with a degree in accounting. Nadine met Steve Spence at Hutchinson Junior College. They were married on June 15, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in McPherson where they remain members. They were blessed with two daughters, April and Abbigail. Nadine loved her daughters and supported them through involvement in all their activities. She took on leadership roles as Sunday School teacher and president of the PTA, Campfire Girls, and Arts Council Choir. Nadine built her career as an accountant at Kansas Jack and continued as an accounting manager at NCRA, retiring in 2015. She was also a leader in the community as she was involved with Leadership McPherson through the Chamber of Commerce, All Schools Day Chairman, and countless other organizations. Nadine was a loving, caring individual who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She was always positive and put others before herself. She brought joyful life to every holiday and family reunion, which included any number of her beloved 45 cousins. Friendship was very important to her. She looked forward to lunches, shopping trips, and socializing with all her friends. In retirement, Nadine and Steve continued traveling, camping, and spending time with their family, including their precious granddaughter, Olivia. Nadine thrived in her role as a grandmother, and she and Steve took every opportunity to create memories together as Grandma and Grandpa. Survivors include: her husband Steve Spence; daughter,April Spence of Chicago IL; daughter Abbigail (John) Peddieson of Henderson, NV; granddaughter Olivia Peddieson (age 4); brother Dwight (Jeanne) Decker of Canton, KS; and one uncle and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Dean is preceded in death by a brother, George.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gladys; his five sons, Dennis (Sharon), Granger, IN, Tom, (Dorothy), Manhattan, Ken (Becky), Wichita, Mike (Kerry), Salina, and Mark (Kathy), Salina; and his daughter, Susie (Dave) Adams, Columbia, MO. Dean has 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak, Salina, with the Rev. Keith Weber officiating. LINDSBORG -&nbsp;Caren Louise Dumler, 78, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on May 26, 2021. She was born in El Dorado, Kan., on February 27, 1943.

Caren met the love of her life, J.R. Dumler, at a WSU street dance in August of 1961.&nbsp; J.R. arrived home that night and informed his roommates that he had met his future wife.&nbsp; It was a quick courtship - engaged in November, and married on June 10, 1962.&nbsp; They lived in Kansas where they raised their four daughters until they moved to Colorado in 1986 to fulfill their dreams of living in the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; They returned “home” to Kansas in 2017.

Caren’s biggest legacy was being a wonderful mother and grandma.&nbsp; Caren was a woman of many talents and stories.&nbsp; The grandkids loved going to “Bonca’s” house and riding her horses, making pans of homemade cinnamon rolls, taking day trips to Estes Park, or simply having a hot dog roast in the backyard while enjoying the view of the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; Caren loved “her” mountains and sitting under a pine tree next to a mountain stream where she would sometimes pack her paints and create a beautiful masterpiece. She enjoyed the Kansas landscape and taking country drives with her corgi and a Diet Coke packed full of ice.&nbsp; She appreciated the simple things of life like sitting on her back porch and listening to the birds singing. &nbsp;

She was a woman of many words and never hesitated to speak her mind and offer some wit and humor in conversation.&nbsp; She had the gift of hospitality and always welcomed people into her home. She was a friend to many and those who had the honor of meeting Caren instantly loved being around her. Caren was a talented horsewoman and a member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association.&nbsp; She enjoyed attending horse shows and volunteering at the National Western Stock Show in Denver,&nbsp; providing her delicious home-cooked meals and cookies for the volunteers.&nbsp; Music brought great joy to Caren’s life.&nbsp; She loved attending concerts of her favorite artists and sometimes would score a backstage pass.&nbsp; One of her favorite moments was being the driver for Lee Greenwood when he performed at the Bicentennial Center.

Caren is preceded in death by her mother Dolly Chandler (John Clark); father James Lee Chandler; and son-in-law Bret Nimerick.&nbsp; Caren is survived by her husband J.R. Dumler; her brother Vernon Chandler (Jan), Kansas City, Mo.; her four daughters, Stacy Hamontree (Gerry) Ellsworth, Kan., Dana Taylor (Steve), Richardson, Texas, Kim Kratzer (Andy), Marquette, Kan., and Lisa Mansfield (Bill), Niwot, Colo.; and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Hamontree (Kate), Nicole Hamontree, Kelsie Jensen (Austin), Maddie Klotzbach (Rachelle), Collin Duffy, and Maggie Taylor; her great-grandson, Henry Hamontree; and her best napping buddy and lap dog, Jesse.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kan.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at Ryan Mortuary at 11:00 a.m.

Dumler, at a WSU street dance in August of 1961.&nbsp; J.R. arrived home that night and informed his roommates that he had met his future wife.&nbsp; It was a quick courtship - engaged in November, and married on June 10, 1962.&nbsp; They lived in Kansas where they raised their four daughters until they moved to Colorado in 1986 to fulfill their dreams of living in the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; They returned “home” to Kansas in 2017.Caren’s biggest legacy was being a wonderful mother and grandma.&nbsp; Caren was a woman of many talents and stories.&nbsp; The grandkids loved going to “Bonca’s” house and riding her horses, making pans of homemade cinnamon rolls, taking day trips to Estes Park, or simply having a hot dog roast in the backyard while enjoying the view of the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; Caren loved “her” mountains and sitting under a pine tree next to a mountain stream where she would sometimes pack her paints and create a beautiful masterpiece. She enjoyed the Kansas landscape and taking country drives with her corgi and a Diet Coke packed full of ice.&nbsp; She appreciated the simple things of life like sitting on her back porch and listening to the birds singing. &nbsp;She was a woman of many words and never hesitated to speak her mind and offer some wit and humor in conversation.&nbsp; She had the gift of hospitality and always welcomed people into her home. She was a friend to many and those who had the honor of meeting Caren instantly loved being around her. Caren was a talented horsewoman and a member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association.&nbsp; She enjoyed attending horse shows and volunteering at the National Western Stock Show in Denver,&nbsp; providing her delicious home-cooked meals and cookies for the volunteers.&nbsp; Music brought great joy to Caren’s life.&nbsp; She loved attending concerts of her favorite artists and sometimes would score a backstage pass.&nbsp; One of her favorite moments was being the driver for Lee Greenwood when he performed at the Bicentennial Center.Caren is preceded in death by her mother Dolly Chandler (John Clark); father James Lee Chandler; and son-in-law Bret Nimerick.&nbsp; Caren is survived by her husband J.R. Tom was born on January 1, 1967, in Augsburg, Germany, the son of George Washington Sullivan, Jr. and Gloria Eileen (Solomon) Sullivan. On June 13, 2015, Tom was united in marriage to Vicki L. Wann in McPherson, KS. Gary W. Belt, 72, passed away Sunday May 24, 2020 at his home in Ellsworth. He was born December 24, 1947 in Ellsworth to Elmer Belt and Charldene “Elsie” (Kanak) Belt.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth where he graduated from Ellsworth High School. He married Mary Ann Nondorf on March 23, 1968. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then many years for Ellsworth Co-op. Gary served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a loyal member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174 where he was a past commander.

Gary is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Ellsworth; daughter Nikki Maupin (Barry) of Lucas; grandsons Chyler Hudson of Kanopolis, Kline Keller (Audrey) of Kalispell, MT, and Jesse Kidd of Ellsworth; step-grandchildren Mia, Keera, McKaylee, Zayne, and Braelyn Maupin all of Lucas; sister Judy Thompson of Wichita; and brothers Earl “Beaver” Belt (Carol) of Las Vegas, NV and Tim Belt (Nettie) of Ellsworth. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughterMelissa “Misty” Belt.

Celebration of life service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with inurnment following in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
