Obituary | Joyce Casey of Glen Elder, Kansas | Roberts Family Funeral Service (mcdonaldrobertsfuneralservice.com)

February 1, 1933 - June 24, 2021

Joyce Nadine Casey, passed into the arms of her savior on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Wichita after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born Feb. 1, 1933 to Ed and Mae Neifert. She married Carrol Casey on Dec. 25, 1950. He proceeded her in death after 70 years of marriage.

Joyce was born, raised, married, and lived all but three years of her life in the farmhouse her father built. She was a wonderful cook, accomplished seamstress, steady cowhand, ever-ready truck driver, etc.  She enjoyed square dancing, walks in nature, Bible study, journaling, family games, and being with her beloved husband Cabe and her children Terry Wiechman (Topeka) Barry Casey (Hannibal, MO), Diana Keezer (Downs), Tedd Casey (Wichita) and Todd Casey (Hutchison). She dearly loved her three daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 17 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Many lifelong memories were forged on the farm with extended family and friends.

Joyce worked many jobs during her life including wall papering, running a dry cleaner, and working for the Cunningham Telephone Company for several years, a job she loved. She was an active member of the Glen Elder Christian Church where she took part in Ladies Aide, teaching Sunday School, and a weekly prayer group. Prayer was a calling and passion for her. She prayed for family and friends continuously and enjoyed encouraging others through conversation, written notes, and acts of service.

Her faith in Christ defined her and in her final days she considered it (like the apostle Paul) “far better” to go and be with Christ than to continue here in her broken body.

Her family will miss her greatly but also rejoice in her new life and the reunion she is enjoying with Cabe, her grandson Mike, and other friends and family.

Thank you, Mom, for everything. We love you and we always will.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30 at the Glen Elder First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. with family present from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

Memorials may be given to the Glen Elder First Christian Church
