Donald Craig Dietz, 63, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at St 
Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on August 19, 1957, at 
Garden City the son of David &amp; Mary (Stewart) Dietz. He married 
Rhonda Renee Brau on September 3, 1983, at Garden City. They welcomed 
their daughter Trisha Anne on March 12, 1985. 
Don graduated from Satanta High School with the Class of 1975. He 
worked in the oil field industry starting with Heimrich and Payne 
Company in 1982. For the past eleven years he has been the Safety and 
Compliance Officer for Hydro Resources. 
He was a devoted husband and father. Don was an avid horseman and 
enjoyed competing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed coaching
 basketball and was known for his beloved team the “Lady Hawks”. He 
will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 
He is survived by his Wife- Rhonda Dietz, Daughter- Trisha Haskell of 
Hays, Brother- Stewart Dietz of Minneapolis and numerous cousins. He 
was preceded in death by his Parents. 
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in
 Garden City. Graveside Service will be at 2:00 PM at Wakeeney City 
Cemetery in Wakeeney. 
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Garnand Funeral 
Home. Memorials are suggested to St Catherine Hospice in care of

Donald Charles Pack was born on the family farm near Munden, Kansas, on October 9, 1934, to Bert and Mildred B. (Elliott) Pack. Donald attended Rose Creek Center District 116 Grade School, and then graduated from Munden High School, class of 1952.

Following high school, Don joined the U.S. Army in October 1954 and was honorably discharged in October 1956. Don then started his 30-plus-year career working for General Foods in Houston as a machine operator. Don then retired to Belleville, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the farm.

Donald passed away on April 20, 2021, in Belleville, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 11 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Doyle Pack and his wife Erma, brother Harold Pack and his wife Lois, brother Paul Pack, and brother-in-law Bud Beneda.

He is survived by his brother Ray Pack and his wife Sharon of Salina, sister Norma Beneda of Belleville, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Ida Cemetery, rural Munden, with Pastor Lance Rundus officiating. Public viewing will be Friday, April 23, 2021, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will not be present.

Lois was married to Gerald L. Spitznagel, July 12, 1953 in Stanton, Iowa. Both Lois and Jerry were educators in Iowa and California.  They were married for 58 years, and they had two children, James and Shari, as well as four grandchildren.

Lois was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church during her time in Lindsborg.  She was a member of the assimilation committee, and she enjoyed visiting new church members with her husband, Jerry. After Jerry’s passing, Lois spent a number of years helping in the “His Kids” program at the church enriching the lives of the children of the community.

Survivors include her son James Spitznagel, and his wife, Annamarie, of Roseville, CA; and grandchildren Michael and Kristin Spitznagel, Melissa Northcutt and Jennifer Justice. 

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry; and daughter Shari Dreher. 

Lois was a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply about others and was loved by many.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 at Elmwood Cemetery, Wells Fargo Road, Lindsborg, with Pastor Jeff Waugh officiating.

Gloria A. Hamel, age 88, of Concordia, left this earthly life on Wed., April 21, 2021 at Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born on Nov. 2, 1932 in Concordia, KS to Gedion &amp; Martha C. (Wheeland) Hebert.

She attended Concordia schools.&nbsp; She married Wilfred “Joe” Hamel on July 25, 1950 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.&nbsp; He preceded her on Feb. 2, 2014.&nbsp; Joe and Gloria spent all of their married lives in Concordia.&nbsp; She was a homemaker.&nbsp; She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Strait (John), Concordia; sons Bob Hamel (Brenda), Osborne and Greg Hamel (Julie), Lawrence; daughter-in-law Tammy Woelhoff, Marshfield, MO; grandchildren Jennifer Faulkner (Dwight), Brian Strait (Chandra), Elizabeth Hamel, Joanna Thomas (Jake), Jerrica Baum (Steve), Ryan Hamel, Brianna Hamel (Lucas Allen), David Hamel (Cheryl), Amanda Stice (Mike), Karter Steinle, Halie Eck (Logan), Pam Hamel &amp; Kelsey Hamel and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; her parents; sons Lawrence ‘Larry’ and Jim Hamel; sisters Martha ‘Jed’ Ullom, Eileen Brick and Maxine Hager; brothers Lawrence and Bobby Hebert, and daughter-in-law Lynnette Hamel.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Mon., April 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. David Metz officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be Sun., April 25, 2021 from 1-8 p.m. with a vigil and rosary at 6 p.m. all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Mr. Kirkbride passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born January 29, 1940 in Vernonia, Oregon, the son of Byron and Florence Kirkbride.

Stephen proudly served his country for 10.5 years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, after which he was medically discharged, receiving a Purple Heart. He spent the next 37 years in civil service as an ambulance driver/EMT-IC and later as the triage coordinator at Irwin Army Hospital in Ft. Riley. Stephen enjoyed watching football, fishing, bowling, and was a member of the American Legion Post 240 and the VFW Post 10509, both in Chapman. On August 5, 1961 Stephen was united in marriage to Carol J. Graves at the Chapman United Methodist Church. She passed away April 17, 2018. Other survivors include his daughter Kathy (Chris) Holliman of Chapman, sons Stephen Kirkbride, Jr. of Gardner, MO, James (Shannon) Kirkbride of Sierra Vista, AZ and granddaughter Nicole Moneypenny, Chapman, brothers JR Kirkbride of Hillsboro, OR, Walt Kirkbride of Cornelius, OR, sisters Rose Schenck of Lakeside, CA, JoAnn Morrow of Keno, OR, Jean Pruitt of Portland, OR, and a total 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Dan lived in Salina all his life, graduating from Salina High with the class of 1954.&nbsp;

He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis and retired as a lieutenant colonel after 41 years with the Army Reserve. Dan collected automobiles, radios, trains, and tools. He rarely missed coffee with friends and Thursday Night Cruisers, until dementia altered his life. He was a lifelong member of Salina First United Methodist Church.

Dan and Linda Marie Rogge were married October 6, 1963, in Clifton, Kansas. He is survived by his wife and their daughter Danelle Marie Okeson, DVM, of Salina and her significant other Darren Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marvel Marie Okeson who died in 1922 at age 5.

Clara G. Harris, 96, former longtime resident of Salina, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 surrounded by her beloved family at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She was born May 22, 1924 in Sterret, AL to Kate and Hardy Howard. She was united in marriage to Oscar Carey Harris on July 1, 1949, in Las Cruces, NM. She had been a resident of The Regent Independent Living Center in Wichita, KS, since September 2018.

Clara was a godly woman who loved and supported her husband of 69 years before his passing. She was a strong, loving mother who skillfully provided a stable home no matter where her family was stationed as she cared for two sons while her beloved husband served his country in the Air Force for 22 years. She enjoyed decorating her home, entertaining, spending time with friends and family, playing cards, crocheting, and attending Bible studies and social events at church. She loved to help or serve others and was a friend to many. Clara was known for always looking beautiful with stylish clothes, accessories and shoes. However, her true beauty came from inside and the personal relationship she had with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband O.C. and her brother Clifford Howard. Survivors include her sons, DeWayne Harris (Jan), of Granbury, TX and Bruce Harris (Teri), of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Rachel Bryan (Phillip), Jennifer Finlay (Sean) and Elizabeth Bengtson (Justin); and great-grandchildren, Skylar, Layla, Lauryn, Noah, Ellie and Caleb.

Diana Louise McCourtney

David Neifert, 64, was born February 21, 1957, to Keith and Audrey 
(Porter) Neifert, at Beloit, KS. He departed this life, April 19, 2021, 
after a constant battle of health issues. He grew up on a farm south of 
Glen Elder, KS, along with two sisters and a brother. He was a member of
 Friends Church and had accepted Christ as his Saviour at a young age. 
He left home to farm on his own and lived on his granddad’s land near 
Ionia, KS. During this time, he met the love of his life, Kim and they 
were married October 10, 1981. They made their home by Ionia and then 
later Glen Elder. To this union was born, a son, Dane and a daughter, 
Alecia. Later on he worked at the elevator in Glen Elder and then in 
Jewel, KS. In 1995, he moved his family to Stafford county, KS, where 
worked at the Radium Coop, running a spray rig and then eventually 
managing the fertilizer department there. In 2002, he had to retire due 
to his disability. In 2006, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Technical
 Accounting and did bookkeeping for D&amp;M Marketing.

Dave took pride in his work and being able to provide for his family.
 He loved coyote hunting with his beloved greyhounds and later with just
 a rifle. His hobbies included playing poker, collecting guns, knives, 
Budweiser holiday mugs, and spending time with his pets. He also enjoyed
 spending time with his family and his most favorite thing of all was 
being a Papa to his four grandchildren.

His sense of humor and ornery streak gave him the ability to deal 
with all of the obstacles life threw at him, including two below the 
knee amputations and a below the elbow amputation and numerous health 
issues. He was a courageous fighter and never gave up. He was our hero. 
He was a very loyal person and he loved his family with his whole heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Janila 
Smith and Wanda Dunn. He leaves to mourn his wife, Kim Neifert of the 
home; a son, Dane Neifert of Salina, KS; a daughter, Alecia Keenan and 
son in law, Jared of Hoisington, KS; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Ayla, 
Jace and Jatyn; a brother, Dennis Neifert and his wife Carrie of 
Liberal, KS; his in laws, Ed and Frances Doak of Alva, OK; two brothers 
in law, David Dunn of Haysville, KS, and Perry Doak and life partner 
Diana Chavez of Fallbrook, CA; 4 nieces and their families; and many 
other friends and family members.

 </figure>David Neifert, 64, was born February 21, 1957, to Keith and Audrey 
(Porter) Neifert, at Beloit, KS. He departed this life, April 19, 2021, 
after a constant battle of health issues. He grew up on a farm south of 
Glen Elder, KS, along with two sisters and a brother. He was a member of
 Friends Church and had accepted Christ as his Saviour at a young age. 
He left home to farm on his own and lived on his granddad’s land near 
Ionia, KS. During this time, he met the love of his life, Kim and they 
were married October 10, 1981. They made their home by Ionia and then 
later Glen Elder. To this union was born, a son, Dane and a daughter, 
Alecia. Later on he worked at the elevator in Glen Elder and then in 
Jewel, KS. In 1995, he moved his family to Stafford county, KS, where 
worked at the Radium Coop, running a spray rig and then eventually 
managing the fertilizer department there. In 2002, he had to retire due 
to his disability. In 2006, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Technical
 Accounting and did bookkeeping for D&amp;M Marketing.Dave took pride in his work and being able to provide for his family.
 He loved coyote hunting with his beloved greyhounds and later with just
 a rifle. His hobbies included playing poker, collecting guns, knives, 
Budweiser holiday mugs, and spending time with his pets. He also enjoyed
 spending time with his family and his most favorite thing of all was 
being a Papa to his four grandchildren.His sense of humor and ornery streak gave him the ability to deal 
with all of the obstacles life threw at him, including two below the 
knee amputations and a below the elbow amputation and numerous health 
issues. He was a courageous fighter and never gave up. He was our hero. 
He was a very loyal person and he loved his family with his whole heart.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Janila 
Smith and Wanda Dunn. He leaves to mourn his wife, Kim Neifert of the 
home; a son, Dane Neifert of Salina, KS; a daughter, Alecia Keenan and 
son in law, Jared of Hoisington, KS; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Ayla, 
Jace and Jatyn; a brother, Dennis Neifert and his wife Carrie of 
Liberal, KS; his in laws, Ed and Frances Doak of Alva, OK; two brothers 
in law, David Dunn of Haysville, KS, and Perry Doak and life partner 
Diana Chavez of Fallbrook, CA; 4 nieces and their families; and many

Duane W. Boyer, son of Edward J. &amp; Delia (Berault) Boyer, was born at Aurora, Kansas, on April 30, 1939.

Duane grew up in Belleville, attending Belleville Public Schools. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving for six years, and was called to active duty in 1961. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, and finished his tour of duty in El Paso, Texas.

He was united in marriage to Carol S. Towle in Belleville in January 1964, and to this union, son Martin and daughter Sheila were born.

Duane worked at the Belleville Green House for seven years and then the city of Belleville for 30 years before his retirement.

Duane passed away on July 31, 2020, in Belleville, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 1 day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol in 2018, daughter Sheila in 2002, grandson Jeremy Rush, brothers Junior, Eddie, Leland and Paul, sister Hazel Prather.

He is survived by his son Marty of Belleville, son-in-law Dwight Rush of Salina, grandson Matthew Rush of Salina, brother Eldon of Belleville, brother Raymond of Belleville, brother John of Belleville, sister Ilene Kelly of Belleville, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Belleville City Cemetery.

Onette Eloise (Isaacson) Shannon died, Monday, April 19, 2021 at Medicalodge of Clay Center, Kansas at the age of 91.&nbsp; Onette was born December 27, 1929 at Randolph, Kansas to Marvin and Virginia (Bloomquist) Isaacson.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Randolph High School in 1947, she spent several years teaching elementary school in Riley and Washington counties. She worked at the Linn-Palmer Record and was the bookkeeper for Shannon Conoco for many years. After the death of Neil, Onette went to work at the Clay County Hospital in the dietary department and worked there until her retirement.&nbsp;

On May 2, 1953 she married Neil Shannon at the Linn Methodist Church.&nbsp;&nbsp; Neil proceeded her in death June 18, 1990. Onette was also preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffery, son-in-law Joe Ward and grandson Mitchell Bienusa.

Onette was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents.&nbsp;

Onette loved to crochet blankets, afghans, rugs, potholders, toys or anything else that anyone asked her for. Her joy was making blankets for all her grandkids and great-grandkids.&nbsp;

Those who knew Guy would agree that he always had a smile on his face, and a great story to tell. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, working with his brother on the farm and gathering for morning coffee with his friends.&nbsp;

He drove for Francis Trucking, was a co-owner of the Saddlerock Cafe and later retired from Montgomery Ward to enjoy farming.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna J. (Wyckoff) Horton, his daughters Nancy (Jim) Pruett and Marla Gordon as well as six grandkids, six great-grandkids and two great-greatgrandkids plus many nieces and nephews. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Leo (Grace), Don (Alberta), Dean (Doris), and Leland (Carolyn); sisters Wilma (Carl) Bennett and Peggy (Gene) Colby, daughter Donna Lou and sons-in-law Lee Winterbower and Dan Gordon.

Caren grew up in Solomon and graduated from Solomon High School in 1964. She worked as a SRS administrative assistant in Salina. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa DeMars of Solomon and Jennifer Gross of Salina. Three grandchildren: Mason DeMars, Hadley Lawson and Hayden Lawson. One sister Carol Simpson of Columbia, Missouri and numerous friends who she loved like family. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Caren’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service for Caren will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon next to her mom, Estelle.

Jackie Younger, Salina, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 93.

Jackie was born January 6, 1928 on a farm near Mentor. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Salina where she lived the rest of her life.

She was the seventh of eight daughters born to Jacob &amp; Hilda (Higgs) Ringquist.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paul Younger.

Survivors include her children Coby of Salina, Paula and Andy Harrelson of New Orleans, Marcy Arnold of Salina, granddaughter Sarah Reinert of Salina, numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Andy W. Friesen was born in Hillsboro, KS at home with a midwife to Jesse and Lydia (Wiens) Friesen on November 20, 1935. He had four brothers and two sisters; he was the sixth child born. 

They spent a lot of time working hard at their dad’s blacksmith shop. This is where he developed his work ethic (no wages were given). During harvest, he remembered hundreds of plow shears being brought in that he would sharpen. He also remembered traveling the state with his brother Vernon to tear down oil derricks for steel. He was proud to state “he could weld anything for anybody.” When he wasn’t welding, he enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers.

Andy accepted Jesus at a young age with the guidance of his brother Vernon. He was baptized at Schlehuber Lake by Reverend Waldo Hiebert on September 7, 1952 and joined Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. He was a member at this church until they joined First Mennonite Brethren Church in Wichita in 2007.

Andy attended Hillsboro elementary schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He held pole vaulting and free throw records. Academics were not his strong point but “common sense” treated him well. He attended Tabor College for one year and played basketball there.

He married his high school sweetheart Bonnie Delight Harder on March 1, 1957. He was a mere 21 years old and Bonnie was 19. Bonnie says they would have married earlier but Andy’s dad said he had to wait until he could sign the legal documents himself. Andy and Bonnie were blessed with two daughters, Christy and Shelley. In their 64 years of marriage, they traveled the world together and made wonderful memories.

Andy served his country by doing 1-W service for two years in Denver, CO during the Korean War. He worked as a hospital orderly and shared an apartment with five other friends who were serving with him. His culinary skills shined as he baked pies often for his roommates. After six months he married Bonnie and they lived in an apartment for the rest of his service commitment.

After returning to Hillsboro he worked in the blacksmith shop. His injured back forced him to find different employment. He went to work for his brother Alfred at Friesen’s Jewelers. He became an excellent watch maker and goldsmith. He could tell you the exact quality of any diamond. After seven years he and Alfred purchased Friesen’s (Franz) Furniture and Andy ran that business until his retirement. 

He enjoyed serving the Hillsboro community and prided himself on always having a good work ethic. His philosophy was “when you work, work hard, and when you play, play hard.”

Andy played hard! His love of fishing and nature was well known to anyone that knew him. He spent countless hours on the water or in deer stands with Harry Thye, Bill Harmon, Paul Lange, and Tim Sullivan. He never could get enough. He supplied many friends, relatives, and neighbors with freshly cleaned fish. He literally fished around the world. Andy and his family enjoyed many camping trips. Their favorite spot was Milford Lake. The huge sand dunes provided great motorcycle challenges.

He also loved to play his trumpet and shared his talents at many weddings, funerals, and church services. He even took his trumpet to Russia on a Tabor College alumni choir tour. Andy also enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He was a daredevil; he did diving exhibitions and motorcycle enduros.

Especially in his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking. He hand-built furniture for each of his children and grandchildren and even a couple of pieces for his great-grandchildren. His attention to detail was amazing. He could build, fix, or make anything with his hands.

In 2006 he and Bonnie moved to Wichita to be closer to family. They took multiple mission trips with “Volunteers in Missions,” and shared their skills with many. They enjoyed serving with Bonnie’s sister Betty (Lange) and Don Freuchting.
