Raymond&nbsp; Donald "Ray" Fuller, 74, of Salina, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021. He was born July 16, 1947. 

He was a Navy veteran, retired from fabrication at Power Vac Inc. after 34 years. He loved hunting, fishing and was an avid book reader. He loved to travel to places to learn about history, especially about Kansas. He loved tinkering in his garage and figuring out how to build things. He enjoyed helping others when they needed help. He had a very big love for his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include wife Marcia Fuller; three daughters, Valeri Andrews of San Antonio, Crystal Fuller and Paula Hanchett both of Salina; two grandchildren, Angelina Hanchett and Slade Hanchett, both of Salina; a sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond W. Fuller and Mary Ruth (Cobb) Fuller.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, graveside at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Edna Marian King, resident of Mitchell County Resident Care Center in Beloit, KS passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021, at age 87.&nbsp; She was the youngest of ten children born to Phillip and Janie (Griffin) Zillinger on March 13, 1934, in Logan, KS.&nbsp; Affectionately known as Marian, she attended schools in Phillips County.&nbsp; Marian was raised on a farm and her favorite childhood memory was on the 4th&nbsp;of July when they had firecrackers and homemade ice cream.&nbsp; She married Melvin King on Sept 22, 1950, in Stockton, KS and was married 31 years.&nbsp; She was a member of the Church of Christ. To this union, six children were born.&nbsp; She worked outside the home when the children got older, as a bookkeeper until she retired. While living in Hays, KS she enjoyed working with the Senior Companion program to assist seniors that were alone and still living in their homes. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafting and loved to crochet and embroider.&nbsp; She had travels to 15 states and enjoyed her family and the many friendships that she made along the way. Things that were important in the family were working hard, doing well in school and playing fair.&nbsp; She loved doing things with and for her family.

She is survived by five children:&nbsp; Patrick King, Hays, KS; Diana Stoeber (John), Jewell, KS; Renee Thompson (Rick), Glade, KS; Terali Richardson (Jim), Salina, KS; David King (Lily), Umatilla, FL.&nbsp; She is survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.&nbsp; Also survived by one brother Ray Zillinger (Donna) and sister-in-law Betty Zillinger and a host of nieces and nephews

She is preceded in death by her son: Melvin Lee King, his wife Donna King (Bartlett) and 2 grandchildren: John King and James King, her parents, sisters: Bertha Kaiser Whitney, Ruth Hulett, Ellen McKinsey, Esther Lynn, Genevieve Townley; brothers:&nbsp; Andy Zillinger and Fred Zillinger.

Marian chose cremation and plans for her Celebration of Life will be set at a future date.

Lifelong, Goodland, KS resident Robert “Bob” Anderson Bradshaw Jr., 84, passed away at this home in Goodland on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Bob was born on July 15, 1937, in Goodland, KS to Robert Anderson and Caroline Alice (Ming) Bradshaw.&nbsp; He attended and graduated school in Goodland .&nbsp; On June 2nd, 1957 he married Velta Marie Farr in Raton New Mexico.

Bob was a lifelong farmer and rancher.&nbsp; He especially had a love for cattle, and was a member of the American Cattle Association.&nbsp; He also loved going to Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and the National Western Stock Show.

Surviving family includes his wife Velta of the home in Goodland, his children Cynthia (Mike) Hoelting of Kansas City, KS, Robin (Mike) Ginther of Overland Park, KS, Rod Bradshaw of Salina, KS and Debbie (Ronnie) Reed of Goodland, KS.&nbsp; He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Heather (Chris) Handlin, Michael Hoelting, Jr., Clayton Ginther, Ryan (Megan) Bradshaw, Tyler (Katelyn) Bradshaw, Marysa (Justin) McCartney and Austin Bradshaw, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

Dolores was born in Garden City, Kansas on June 5, 1932, a daughter of Esther M. (Simon) and Henry George Erker. She attended Liberty Elementary School, Riverdale, Kansas, and graduated from Wellington High School, Wellington, Kansas in 1950. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas where she was a member of the Altar Society and was involved with weekly adoration. Prior to marriage, Dolores worked at Safeway in Wichita in the meat department and was later a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Dolores Marie Erker was united in marriage to Raymond Allen Willems on April 7, 1956 at Wichita, Kansas. They established their first home together in Wichita, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of six children: four daughters and two sons, Roxane, Rhonda, Renee, Rex, Raissa, and Randall. Dolores enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, quilting, embroidery work, and putting puzzles together. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, made many lap quilts for Angel Arms, and tea towels for the hospital gift shop. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and has made baby quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 65 years, Raymond Willems of McPherson, Kansas; her children Roxane Gill and husband Jeff, of Salina, Kansas, Rhonda King, of Sevierville, Tennessee, Renee Foster and husband Ronald, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Rex Willems and wife Lorenda, of Wildomar, California, Raissa Andersen, of McPherson, Kansas, and Randall Willems and wife Cheryl, of McPherson, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, Tyler Gill, Trevor Gill, Alan King, Darryl King (Catherine), Michelle King, Robyn Gore (Scott), Ryan Foster, Rochelle Foster, Carissa Chaltas (Cole), Cody Willems, Kelsey Willems, Travis Andersen (Noelle), Nichole Andersen, and Karri Andersen; seven great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Bryan, James Bryan, Beatrice King, Zoey Virus, Jaxon Foster, Rosemary Andersen, and Eleanora Andersen. Vivian was born on October 12, 1931, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Walfred Cornelius and Mabel Florence (Johnson) Briggs. She graduated from Inman High School in 1949. On February 11, 1951, Vivian was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Howard Milton Smith, at the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom. Two children were born to this union, Perry and Norene. She was a lifelong member of Andover Lutheran Church, Windom, and associate member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson. Survivors include: her loving husband of 70 years, Howard of the home; a son, Dr. Perry Smith (Krista) of Great Bend, KS; a daughter, Norene Kerschen (Daniel) of Garden Plain, KS; seven grandchildren, Emily Pauly (Ethan), Jon Kerschen (Emily), Rachel Schmidt (Jeffrey), Keith Kerschen, Kim Hay (Marshall), Kelsey Sciacca (Adam), and Mason Smith (Amy Urban); 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Potwin, Kansas – Miriam Kay McLain, 83, retired Goddard Public Schools 3rd grade teacher of 39 years passed away July 23, 2021. She was born November 29, 1937. Miriam grew up in Potwin and graduated from Potwin High School as the salutatorian of her class, and also from Butler County Junior College. 

She began her teaching career at the age of 19 while completing her bachelor of science in education degree from Emporia State Teacher's College. She went on to also complete her master of education degree from Emporia State University. &nbsp;Miriam was named a Who's Who Among American Teachers recipient and was also named The Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America in 1973.

During her newspaper recognition interview, she proudly stated that while she was of sound enough mind and body to enjoy her weekends, she enjoyed teaching enough to look forward to Monday mornings each new week. During her retirement years she enjoyed her word puzzles and being an avid reader. She also enjoyed being involved in her nieces' and nephews' educations.

Survivors include: nieces Mary (Ray) Brown, Laura (Terry) Kilgore; nephew George (Pat) Kasper; many other nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Anna (Thomas) McLain and all of her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Young, Ellen Criger, Wilma Criger, Margaret Kasper, and Arthur McLain Jr. and half-brother Warren McLain and half-sister Mary Whiteside.

Duane E. Hale, age 68, Manhattan, Kansas resident, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital, Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on August 8, 1952 in Concordia, Kansas to Theodore and Virlene (Ryan) Hale.

Duane was a 1970 graduate of Concordia High School.

Duane was employed by Kansas State University within their custodial and kitchen departments, until his retirement.&nbsp; During the summer time he worked for KSU maintenance department while the students were on summer leave.

Duane was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. He also volunteered his time at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

Duane was an avid bicyclist. He owned several bicycles and enjoyed riding them everywhere in his free time. He also enjoyed old western movies.&nbsp; Duane loved return trips to Concordia and visiting family, friends and the Nazareth Motherhouse Sisters (especially Sister Ann Vincent).&nbsp;

He is survived by his son Cody Hale and daughter Crystal Hale of North Carolina; his former wife Dawn Hale, Manhattan, KS; three brothers, Jerry Hale, Beloit, KS; Fred Hale and Scott Hale, both of Concordia, KS; four sisters, Sharon Morrison, Peggy Hale, both of Beloit, KS; Bonnie White and Deanna Bleick, both of Belleville, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Virlene, brother Bobby Hale, and two nephews Ryan and Sawyer White.

Growing up near Everest, Sandy attended local schools, graduating from Everest Rural High School in 1964. Sandy then graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in home economics in 1968. On August 25, 1968, she married Jerry W. Sleichter, a marriage that lasted 50 years before Jerry passed. She proudly raised her three children on the farm near Abilene, KS. Sandy was a member of the Abilene First United Methodist Church, the John Wesley Bell Choir, and the Johnson Community Center. She taught home economics, before deciding to stay home to raise her family and support the family farm. Later in life, Sandy served as accounting and office manager for Dickinson County Rural Water District #1 and enjoyed being a paraprofessional in the Abilene schools. Sandy served as club and project leader for many years in the Willowdale 4-H club, and judged at countless 4-H events. She was honored to become a member of the 2001 class of Master Farmer and Farm Homemaker. Sandy loved her role as a grandma and made it a priority to attend all of her grandchildren’s activities. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Rhett, a brother Jere, and her husband Jerry. Sandy is survived by a daughter Jill (Derek) Deines of Manhattan; two sons, Jeff (Meredith) Sleichter of Abilene; Jay (Linda) Sleichter of Clay Center; brother Mark (Chelley) Tollefson of Bel Aire; and nine grandchildren: Riley, Katie, Maggie, Jackie, Lainie, Raychel, Natalie, John, and Bryce. Bernie L. White, 70, of Belleville, KS, longtime Ell-Saline educator, passed away on May 28, 2021.

Bernie L. White, the son of Melvin Charles White and Ellen Elizabeth (Reber) White, was born August 2, 1950 in Seneca, Kansas and passed away on&nbsp;May 28, 2021 at the Filmore County Hospital, Geneva, NE at the age of 70 years,&nbsp;9 months, and 27 days.

Bernie grew up and attended school in Vermillion, KS until the age of nine when his family moved to Glen Elder, KS, where he graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1968. Following high school, Bernie attended Cloud County Community College where he thoroughly enjoyed his college experience. He later attended Kansas Wesleyan University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in teaching.&nbsp; Bernie began teaching at Happy Corner Elementary (Ell-Saline, USD 307) in 1975. Students remember the fun atmosphere in the classroom, as well as the way Mr. White cared for each of them and made learning fun. We have yet to meet a former student that does not have a fun experience to share.

While teaching, Bernie completed his master’s degree at Kansas State University and in 1987 began his journey in school administration.&nbsp;&nbsp; As principal at Ell-Saline Jr./Sr. High School, Bernie continued to advocate for all students, to mentor teachers, and began the integration of technology into the classroom.&nbsp;&nbsp; As principal, it was also his job to “chaperone” the senior sneak where he had as much (if not more) fun than the students.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Not only did Bernie enjoy a role in educating future generations, he continued his own education and earned his Ed. D. from Kansas State University. In 1993, he became the Ell-Saline Superintendent where he stayed until retirement in 2005.&nbsp; During his time as superintendent, Bernie continued working to elevate the standard of education to benefit the students, maintain high standards for teachers, oversee building expansion, and lead Ell-Saline Schools to become one of the top schools in the area.&nbsp; He was honored by the district with the Ell-Saline Gymnasium being named in his name at the time of his retirement.

Bernie was united in marriage to Deanna Hoard on March 6, 2010.&nbsp;&nbsp; He later adopted Deanna’s son, Trenton, in 2011. The couple made their home in Formoso, KS and later moved to Belleville, KS.

As much as Bernie enjoyed teaching, he loved being a father and grandfather more.&nbsp; Bernie helped with 4-H projects, attended the many sporting events of his children and grandchildren and offered support, advice, and encouragement along the way. He celebrated his family’s successes and mourned their losses. He took every opportunity to fish, hunt, paintball, and four-wheel with his family. and never passed up a chance to hit the golf course with any family member willing to go.&nbsp; Bernie remained close to his immediate and extended family throughout his life, often organizing and hosting get-togethers and reunions.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; son Trenton Mitchell; brother Charles, and beloved aunt and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Deanna of Belleville, KS; children (from previous marriage) Andy White of North Kansas City,&nbsp; Daniel White of Salina, KS, Ellaina (Jason) Brightbill of Salina, KS, and Bridget (Ryan) Brocato of Lee’s Summit, MO;&nbsp;&nbsp; sister Dodi (Don) Fisher;&nbsp; brothers Paul (Carol) White, Ralph (Judy) White all of Salina, KS;&nbsp; grandchildren Jonah Mattson, Dylan &amp; Nolan White, Fallon &amp; Larsen Brocato, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Trinity&nbsp;United Methodist Church, Jewell, KS with Pastor Jim Rice, officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Inurnment will be at the Randall Cemetery, Randall, KS.

We have yet to meet a former student that does not have a fun experience to share.While teaching, Bernie completed his master’s degree at Kansas State University and in 1987 began his journey in school administration.&nbsp;&nbsp; As principal at Ell-Saline Jr./Sr. High School, Bernie continued to advocate for all students, to mentor teachers, and began the integration of technology into the classroom.&nbsp;&nbsp; As principal, it was also his job to “chaperone” the senior sneak where he had as much (if not more) fun than the students.&nbsp;&nbsp;Not only did Bernie enjoy a role in educating future generations, he continued his own education and earned his Ed. D. from Kansas State University. On September 4, 1960, Duane was united in marriage to Betty Joyce Briggs at the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing on September 6, 2020. He served in the United States Army as a medical corpsman at the Brooke Army Medical Hospital, San Antonio, TX from October 3, 1960 to October 3, 1962. Duane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was actively involved in church maintenance for many years. Barry was a service attendant at the Shell Gas Station, owned and operated by his father (Keith), for 18 years. Barry also spent 23 years as a wastewater services operator for the city of Salina (KS).

He is survived by his mother Helen Flo; his wife Lola; and his three sons, Sheldon Nelson (Lucinda), Roy Nelson (April), and James Nelson (Angela). Barry had four grandchildren, Wes Nelson, Christianna (Christi) Nelson, Destiny (Kai) Nelson, and Eliza Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father Keith, and his brother Dale.

Faith was very important to Barry. He was a member of the First Church of God for 56 years. He was the head usher for many years and was a huge supporter of youth programs within the church. He was a honorary grandfather to many of the church youth. He loved to help others, had a contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up the room.&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the First Church of God, with Pastor Willard Ashcraft as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bennington Cemetery, Bennington.

Norah Catherine Figg&nbsp;died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 17, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.

Norah was born on February 7, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Edith and Ebeneezer Ryan. She was the first of four children. Her siblings were Moya, James, and Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles, her sister Moya, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Figg, and her beloved husband Dr. Joseph W. “Joe” Figg.

She is survived by her brother James, and her five children, Michael and wife Linda, David, husband of Elizabeth, Phillip and wife Cindy, Catherine Gaston, and Lawrence. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Norah was an accomplished pianist and organist as well as a music and piano teacher.&nbsp; She displayed a great musical talent from a young age and played many recitals and won many competitions.&nbsp; She was a music teacher at secondary and elementary schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Kentucky.&nbsp; She also privately taught many piano and organ students.

Norah met her husband Joe when they were both musical students at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She married Joe on April 16, 1950 in First United Methodist Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma.&nbsp; Joe was a vocalist, choir director and voice teacher.&nbsp; Norah and Joe worked in several churches together, as organist and choir director.&nbsp; Norah was for many years the organist at First United Methodist Church of Salina, Kansas, where Joe was also the choir director until his death in 2009. Norah was also the accompanist for the Salina Chorale, which Joe directed.

Before her death she lived with and was cared for by her daughter Catherine and her family in Baton Rouge.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Salina.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.Norah was an accomplished pianist and organist as well as a music and piano teacher.&nbsp; She displayed a great musical talent from a young age and played many recitals and won many competitions.&nbsp; She was a music teacher at secondary and elementary schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Kentucky.&nbsp; She also privately taught many piano and organ students.Norah met her husband Joe when they were both musical students at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She married Joe on April 16, 1950 in First United Methodist Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma.&nbsp; Joe was a vocalist, choir director and voice teacher.&nbsp; Norah and Joe worked in several churches together, as organist and choir director.&nbsp; Norah was for many years the organist at First United Methodist Church of Salina, Kansas, where Joe was also the choir director until his death in 2009. Z was born in Agenda, Kansas on January 11, 1942, a son of the late Lena (Ryser) and Adolph Zurfluh. Z became a biology teacher and high school athletics coach in Chapman, Kansas after earning his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State Teachers College. This was prior to his relocating to Salina, Kansas. He was an avid bowler, the manager of the New Holiday Bowl, as well as a member of the Senior Bowling League at The Alley, Salina, Kansas. He is also a member of the Salina Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Hillsboro - Lola Mae Savoia, 96, passed away July 19, 2021 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. She was born January 1, 1925 in Hillsboro to Alex and Jessie (Miller) Stratman.

Her mother passed away when she was four years old. Her sister Marjorie was six at that time. Her father then married Mary Funk, to that union were born three children Peggy, Bob, and Bill.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942 and went on to the school of cosmetology in Wichita.

While working in Wichita, Lola shared an apartment with a friend. The friend’s brother lived upstairs and his friend, Robert (Bob) Washmon visited. Bob and Lola were introduced, dated, and were married in California in January of 1945 where Bob was stationed for his military service. To this union five children were born. Terrie was born in California. They returned to Hillsboro after his military service where Cynthia, Janis, Kim, and Greg were born.

While Bob was hunting pheasant in November 1978 with his brother-in-law Harry Wallenmeyer and grandson Darrin, he had a massive heart attack and passed away. It was a difficult time for Lola.

Lola lived in a home on 2nd street. A widowed neighbor, John Savoia, lived across the street from Lola. She was out sweeping the drive when he walked over to visit. He brought Lola a tray from Colombia. They became friends, started dating and were married in December 1981.

John was a missionary and had served in Colombia most of his adult life. After their marriage they moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. Lola went to language school to learn Spanish. After living in Mexico for about a year, they moved to Cali, Colombia, South America, where they lived for nine years with brief stays back in Hillsboro for furlough. After living in Colombia, John served another three years in Queretaro, Mexico. Then he retired from missionary service in 1994.

They moved to the country outside of Edmond, Oklahoma next to Lola’s daughter Janis. They lived there five years before moving back to Hillsboro in 1999.

Lola was talented and intelligent. She started out her working career as a beautician. For a while she was the head cook at the school. She then worked for the City of Hillsboro, managed the Pizza Hut for a while and finished out her career at First Federal Savings and Loan.

She also loved to sew, making clothes for her daughters and shirts for the boys. She knitted and was an accomplished artist. She made lead glass lamps with the help of Greg. She was a great cook and baker. The cookie jar was seldom empty, not an easy thing to accomplish with five children. Saturday mornings she baked bread and cinnamon rolls. She planted a tree wherever she lived.

Lola is survived by siblings Peggy Hunter, Lakeland, FL; Bob (Dee) Stratman, Tempe, AZ and Bill (Janet) Stratman, Madison, AL. Children Cynthia (Roger) Fleming, Hillsboro; Janis McIntyre, Edmond, OK; Robert (Nicole) Washmon, Leadville, CO and Gregory (Donna) Washmon, Hillsboro. Step-children Johnny (Irene) Savoia, Jamaica Plain, MA; Ruth Restrapo, Wimberly, TX and Tim (Carla) Savoia, Fresno, CA. Grandchildren Shawn (Mike) Vondenkamp, Monte Dalke, Mikki (Seth) Larson, Jessie Nikkel, Robert Benjamin Washmon, Kris (Stacey) Baker and Whitney Darcy.

Step-grandchildren Richard Beman, Jay (Erin) Restrepo, Jack (Lucy) Savoia, Marco Savoia, Rachel (Brooks) Patterson, Caleb Savoia, Faith Savoia Wuerth. 10 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.

Edna Marian King, resident of Mitchell Co. Resident Care Center in Beloit, KS passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021, at age 87.&nbsp; She was the youngest of ten children born to Phillip and Janie (Griffin) Zillinger on March 13, 1934, in Logan, KS.&nbsp; 

Affectionately known as Marian, she attended schools in Phillips County.&nbsp; Marian was raised on a farm and her favorite childhood memory was on the 4th&nbsp;of July when they had firecrackers and homemade ice cream.&nbsp; She married Melvin King on Sept 22, 1950, in Stockton, KS and was married 31 years.&nbsp; She was a member of the Church of Christ. To this union, six children were born.&nbsp; She worked outside the home when the children got older, as a bookkeeper until she retired. While living in Hays, KS she enjoyed working with the Senior Companion program to assist seniors that were alone and still living in their homes. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafting and loved to crochet and embroider.&nbsp; She had travels to 15 states and enjoyed her family and the many friendships that she made along the way. Things that were important in the family were working hard, doing well in school and playing fair.&nbsp; She loved doing things with and for her family.

Linda Marlene Chaney, 72, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly at 8:51 a.m., Wednesday, July 21 2021 at her home. Linda was born in St. Edward, Nebraska on June 21, 1949, a daughter of Nina Olga (Navarre) and Robert Leroy Striker, Sr. Linda attended the Hastings Grade School, Hastings, Nebraska, and graduated from Ewing High School, Ewing, Nebraska in 1967. She then attended Central Christian College of Kansas, McPherson, Kansas where she received her associate degree. At the age of 12, Linda and her little sister Donna, age 7, became part of the Walter and Alice Miller family. She was a member of First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas. Linda Marlene Striker was united in marriage to Michael Ray Chaney on June 3, 1972 at the Free Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, one son and one daughter, James and Carla. Linda worked for Farmers Alliance as a secretary for four years. Linda was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. After the kids were in school she started working for U.S.D. 418 Food Service and she retired in 2012. Linda volunteered at Save-N-Share. Linda enjoyed her home and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 49 years, Michael Chaney of McPherson, Kansas; her children James Chaney and wife Ramona, of Wichita, Kansas, and Carla Unruh and husband Phil of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings Donna Arehart and husband Tom of Orchard, Nebraska, Ann Davis and husband Gary of San Bernardino, California, Robert Striker and wife Ruby of College Station, Texas, Dan Miller and wife Jan of Springfield, Nebraska, and Ruth Hawk and husband Mark of Elk Horn, Nebraska; her favorite grandson Danial Chaney; other relatives and a host of friends. Linda was born in St. Edward, Nebraska on June 21, 1949, a daughter of Nina Olga (Navarre) and Robert Leroy Striker, Sr. Linda attended the Hastings Grade School, Hastings, Nebraska, and graduated from Ewing High School, Ewing, Nebraska in 1967. She then attended Central Christian College of Kansas, McPherson, Kansas where she received her associate degree. At the age of 12, Linda and her little sister Donna, age 7, became part of the Walter and Alice Miller family. She was a member of First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas. Linda Marlene Striker was united in marriage to Michael Ray Chaney on June 3, 1972 at the Free Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, one son and one daughter, James and Carla. Linda worked for Farmers Alliance as a secretary for four years. Linda was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. After the kids were in school she started working for U.S.D. 418 Food Service and she retired in 2012. Linda volunteered at Save-N-Share. Linda enjoyed her home and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 49 years, Michael Chaney of McPherson, Kansas; her children James Chaney and wife Ramona, of Wichita, Kansas, and Carla Unruh and husband Phil of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings Donna Arehart and husband Tom of Orchard, Nebraska, Ann Davis and husband Gary of San Bernardino, California, Robert Striker and wife Ruby of College Station, Texas, Dan Miller and wife Jan of Springfield, Nebraska, and Ruth Hawk and husband Mark of Elk Horn, Nebraska; her favorite grandson Danial Chaney; other relatives and a host of friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her foster parents; and brothers Edward Striker, Donald Striker, Michael Striker, and Charles Striker. Visitation will be on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating. Rex Edward Branstetter, Jr., age 39, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on July 19, 2021 at approximately 9:50 a.m. while at home. Rex, Jr. was born in beautiful Oceanside, CA on March 12, 1982. He is preceded in death by all grandparents, five uncles and two aunts.

Rex, Jr. is survived by Ann Hutson (mother), her husband Dave; Rex&nbsp; Branstetter,&nbsp;Sr. (father), his wife Kerstin; Katie Ross (sister), her husband Tony; as well as Isabella Ross (great niece); Ella Mae Branstetter (daughter); Demetri Branstetter (nephew) and his wife Cheyenne; Caleb Ross (nephew) and his wife Shelby along with their daughter Adeline Rose (great niece).

Rex, Jr. will be lovingly remembered by all his family and friends. He truly brought life to the party and knew how to make anyone crack a laugh with his personality like none other.

Rex, Jr. was a master mind in mechanics. He truly enjoyed drinking with friends and family and listening to great music. Most of all he loved being outdoors.

Wanda
 Jean (Deges) Thyfault-Thummel of Hays, Kansas died Monday, July 12, 
2021, at age 72, at the Santa Marta Plaza Health Services in Olathe, 
Kansas.&nbsp; She was born March 2, 1949, to Leonard and Dorothea (Engel) 
Deges and grew up on the family farm by Grainfield, Kansas.&nbsp; She married
 Clarence Thyfault on August 8, 1972 in Grainfield, and from this union 
their son, John Phillip was born.&nbsp; Clarence preceded her in death on May
 28, 1979. Then Wanda married Ralph Thummel on June 5, 1987, in Hays, 
Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on March 4, 2021.

Wanda graduated from Grainfield Rural High School in 1967, before 
earning her bachelor’s degree in sociology and elementary education in 
1971, graduating with honors from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; 
She then obtained a master’s degree in elementary education in 1972, 
from Fort Hays State University Hays, Kansas.

before moving to Plainville where she taught 5th grade from 1976 to 
2005, (except one year of 3rd grade).&nbsp; Mrs. “T”, as students called her,
 possessed excellent teaching skills, knowledge and experience which 
were recognized when she received the Teacher of the Year Award in 
Plainville in 1989, and by regularly being nominated for honors by 
former students.&nbsp; She was the favorite teacher of many students in 
Plainville and was regularly thanked by her former students for changing
 their lives.&nbsp; Mrs. “T” had a passion for teaching that was unmatched, 
caring deeply for each child, and striving to coax the most out of each 
child’s unique abilities.&nbsp; She combined toughness and high expectations 
with love and sincerity in a manner that helped students blossom.After retirement, Wanda enjoyed outings with her friends, spending time 
with family (visiting and playing cards), reading current events and 
novels, knitting and completing numerous counted cross stitch projects.&nbsp;
 Wanda loved her family very much and was a textbook of family history 
and facts. &nbsp;Also, Wanda enjoyed sharing highlights about her son’s 
biomedical research accomplishments. &nbsp;In addition, Wanda enjoyed 
watching her grandsons Miles and Lincoln grow up, particularly tutoring 
them over the internet during the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp; Wanda and Ralph 
made monthly trips to see their grandsons and lavished them with love 
and attention.&nbsp; Although a fantastic teacher, Wanda’s favorite passion 
was being a grandmother.Survivors include her son, John Thyfault and wife, Jessica, Shawnee, 
KS; two grandsons, Lincoln and Miles Thyfault; one sister, Eileen Curl 
and husband, Don, Beaumont, TX; and Wanda’s brother’s wife, Trudy 
(Thyfault) Deges, Damar, KS; and special aunt, Esther Weber, Salina, KS;
 surviving members from the Thyfault family include sisters-in-law, Pat 
Sis; Trudy Deges; Cathy Smee and husband John; and Mary Engel and 
husband Ron; surviving members from the Thummel family include 
brother-in-law, Mark Thummel and wife, Melinda; four sisters-in-law, May
 Munk; Betty Striggow; Sister Mary Joe Thummel; and Theresa Kriley; also
 Wanda is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Dorothea Deges;
 one brother, Virgil Deges; and her husbands’, Clarence Thyfault and 
Ralph Thummel; and their parents.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 6, 2021, at 
&nbsp;Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 
67601. &nbsp;The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the 
mortuary.&nbsp; &nbsp;A meal will follow at the Hays VFW at 3:30 P.M. followed by
