September 15, 1931 - August 14, 2021

Dolores Eileen Landry,  89 years of age, of Ames, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde. Dolores, the youngest of eleven children of James E. Smith and Margaret Corrigan Smith, was born September 15, 1931 in Clifton, Kansas. 

She married Maurice “Nick” Landry on January 3, 1953 in Clyde.  They lived on the Landry farm south of Ames.  In addition to working the family farm, Dolores was also a licensed beautician with her own business for several years and drove a school bus for USD 224. In 1988, Dolores graduated from the travel and tourism program at Cloud County Community College. She was proud of her community and was an active promoter of rural life, Kansas tourism, and especially the attractions in Cloud County. 

Dolores is survived by children, Marie Landry and husband Tim Marchand of Topeka, Micheal Landry and wife Diane of Woodbridge, Virginia, Patricia Hamilton of Topeka, Phillip Landry and wife Stephanie of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She was a much loved grandmother to her grandchildren, Melanie McDowell, Alyson McDowell, Alexis (& Emery) Clark, Jake (& Anne) Hamilton, Michelle Landry, Ben and Joe Landry; and grandchildren, Jasper, Evie, Jett and Hattie Clark. She is fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Landry, her parents, and ten brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.  Inurnment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery south of Ames.

The family suggests memorials can be made to the Orphan Train Museum, Park Villa Nursing Home, or to the River Valley District Cloud County 4-H Council in care of Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas.
