Maxine May Kearn, age 92, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; The family has requested a private graveside service with immediate family members only, with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating.

Maxine was born on the family farm near Douglas, Nebraska on May 23, 1929 to Albert and Christina (Hofker) Eis.

Maxine married Harold D. Kearn on January 1, 1951 in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; To this union four children were born, Kathleen, Gary, Terry, and Susan.&nbsp; Harold preceded her in death on August 4, 2018.

Maxine worked at the Cheyenne Lodge in Jamestown and later Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia.

Maxine and her husband Harold spent the majority of their life in the Jamestown and Concordia area.&nbsp; They moved to Bethany Home six years ago.&nbsp;

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Kearn, four siblings, and one great-grandson.&nbsp;

She is survived by four children; Kathleen Bazzano (Carmen) Merrimack, NH; Gary Kearn (Helen) Salina, KS; Terry Kearn (Kelley) Harrah, OK; and Susan Mills (Kurt) Big Cabin, OK.&nbsp; She is also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Maxine was an inspiration to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Beckett Lee Michael Burton passed away peacefully in the NICU at Wesley Medical Center on July 23, 2021.&nbsp;He was born at 8:15 a.m. and met the eyes of Jesus at 9:17 p.m. the same day.

Beckett was the son of Travis and Dallas Burton of Abilene.&nbsp;He is survived by Sadie Mae, the family dog.&nbsp;His paternal grandparents are Randy and Marje Burton of Salina, KS; Terry and Manny McGrath of Abilene, KS. Maternal grandparents are Dale and Sandy Pierce of Herington, KS, and many great and great-great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins.

Beckett gave us a lifetime of love during his short time on earth. When he heard his daddy’s voice he stared at him.

Sandra G. Reiff, 80 of rural Hope, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She was born March 14, 1941 in her childhood home near Detroit, the daughter of Gail and Erma (Hines) Betts.

 In 1959 she graduated from Chapman High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education at Emporia State University. She was united in marriage Don Reiff on August 4, 1962. 

Sandra taught for thirty plus years in the Dickinson County area including Carlton, Rural Center, Chapman and Enterprise. She was very active at New Basel Church from serving on the church council to accompanying the piano. 

Sandra is survived by her loving husband Don of the home. She was a loving mother of daughter, Robin Brace (Steve) of Gretna, Nebraska and son, Terry Reiff (Angie) of Hope. Four grandchildren, Katelyn Reiff, Ryan Brace, Rocque (Krista) Russell and Clayton Carson and sister, Marcene Broadfoot. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister (Leone). 

Funeral Services for Sandra will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021 at New Basel Church (south of Abilene) with Pastor Jamie Bonnema officiating. Burial will follow at New Basel Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home of Abilene. 

Family suggests memorials be given to the New Basel Church and Dickinson County Home Health. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Sally May Stephens, 88, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 31st, at Brookdale Senior Living in Salina, Kansas.

Sally was born in Salina, Kansas on June 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Ruth (LaShelle) and Forrest Miller.

Sally is survived by a daughter, Deb Pinnick, of Lindsborg, Kansas.

She is also survived by her Grandchildren Justin Pinnick (Maria) of Christianburg, Virginia, Christina Garrett of Salina, Kansas and Great Grandchildren: Lilly, Daniel, Dane, Dash, Kenneth, Diego.

Sally was proceeded in death by son-in law, Basil Pinnick.

Public Viewing will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 5th at Carlson -Geisendorf Funeral Home &amp; Crematory with family receiving friends 6:00PM- 7:00 PM.

Lucille Ann (Krein) Reynolds, 94, passed away July 31, 2021, at the 
Bethany Home in LIndsborg, Kansas. &nbsp;She was born February 4, 1927, in 
Phillips County, Kansas to Walter and Sophia (Grauerholz) Krein. &nbsp;She 
was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington, 
Kansas. &nbsp;She married Thomas Reynolds on November 29, 1959, in 
Philipsburg, Kansas. &nbsp;She received her nurse's aide certificate in 1968 
and was employed at the Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center, 
Kansas. &nbsp;She lived most of her life in Smith Center and Osborne, Kansas.
 &nbsp;On November 24, 2014, she moved to Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas, 
along with her cat, Blackie, where she resided until her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister and 
brother-in-law, Delores and Bill VanWey of Red Cloud, Nebraska, 
brother-in-law Jim Jones of Wood Village, Oregon, and sister-in-law 
Barbara Krein of Connell, Washington. &nbsp;

She is survived by 2 sons, Gary Reynolds and wife June of Beloit, 
Kansas, and Roger Reynolds of Junction City, Kansas, as well as sister 
Norma Jones of Wood Village, Oregon, 3 brothers Don Krein of Connell, 
Washington, Elmer Krein and wife Dorothy of Connell, Washington, and 
Harvey Krein and wife Evelyn of Salina, Kansas, many nieces, nephews, 
and friends.

Donald G. Boos passed away July 30, 2021, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was born in Hays, Kansas on September 2, 1930 to John and Catherine (Boos) Boos. The family moved to Topeka in 1942 where Don attended Hayden High School.&nbsp; He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1954.&nbsp; Following his Naval service, he returned to Topeka to study at Washburn University.&nbsp;

On January 28, 1956 he married the love of his life, Joan Marie Krische, with whom he would spend the rest of his life.&nbsp;

Don spent his career in and around the grocery and real estate businesses, primarily with the Fleming Company, in several cities, where he was Store Development Manager. He was an extremely loyal employee always looking out for the company’s interests. He loved working with people and the real estate community loved working with Don. As much as he loved his work, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, his wife, his four sons and their families.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Don was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he served on the Parish Finance Council for 15 years. Don was involved in his community serving as a member of the Olathe Planning Commission for six years, with one year as Chairman.&nbsp; He was a Precinct Committeeman and was active within the Olathe Republican Party.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Wanda Jean (Boos) Guth, daughter-in-law, Gina Marie (Ross) Boos, and grandson, Vincent Edward Boos.&nbsp;

Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan, his sister, Frieda (Boos) Schmidtlein of Topeka, KS, sons, John (Rochelle) Boos, Ron (Jill) Boos, David Boos, all of Olathe, and Don (Cathy) Boos of Salina, KS, along with seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.&nbsp;

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Davita Dialysis Center, the staff and doctors at Olathe Medical Center, with special thanks to their Critical Care nursing staff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren St., Topeka, KS.&nbsp; A Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30 a.m. prior to the mass.&nbsp; Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, KS following Mass.

She graduated from D.C.C.H.S in 1947. She taught at a county school near Elmo, Kansas for the 1947-1948 school year. On May 2, 1948 she married Robert A. Needham. They moved to Colorado Springs in September of 1948 for two years where their first child, Sheila, was born. In November of 1950, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where he was employed at Beech Air Craft. Eventually they moved to Enterprise and later settled in Abilene where their seven children went through Abilene schools. 

Wilma is survived by her daughters Sheila Spielman of Lyons, Kansas and Sandy Paulson (Rod) of Abilene; five sons, Gary Needham (Carol) of Abilene, Loyd Needham (Carol) of Abilene, Scot Needham (Dayna) of McPherson, Wade Needham (Lola) of Abilene, Phil Needham (Shelley) of Freeman, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Margie Keith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Robert, grandson James Jacob Needham, son-in-law Robert Spielman and seven siblings.

June graduated from Belleville High School, class of 1945, and was baptized into the Central Christian Church, where she was a lifelong member. She volunteered at the Belleville Health Care Center and the Golden Bell Haven.

On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernie Lewis Tuma in Concordia, Kansas, and to this union, one daughter was born.

June is preceded in death by her husband on March 20, 1994, her parents, two brothers, Lehem and Walter Jr., and two sisters, Thelma and Gale. June is also preceded in death by her daughter Beverly on March 3, 2013, son-in-law Junior Boyer on November 5, 1990, and son-in-law Don Peters on May 19, 2018.

She is survived by her granddaughter Karen Morgan and her husband Carlos of Wichita, grandson Randy Boyer of Belleville, six great-grandchildren, Mariah, Amber, Andre, Angely, Armond and Alecio, and two great-great grandchildren, Evie and Flynn.

Visitation will be Monday, August 2d, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

From 1961 to 1963 he served in the United State Army.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a police officer for the Garden City Police Department from 1966 to 1969. Cecil and Family then moved to Salina where Cecil worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, for thirty years, retiring in 2003.&nbsp; Cecil was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 62 where he served as post commander for two terms, 40 &amp; 8 of Olathe, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and The Railroad Retirees.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Douglass Haney and William F. Haney. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy (Owen) Haney of the home; sons Scott Bradley and wife Denna Haney, Lakin, KS, Peter C.L. She was preceded in death by her parents Willis C., and Bertha A. (Stewart) Cook, her husband Alfred Hustus, his brother Lloyd Cook,&nbsp; sister Leona Kellogg, and nephew Wendell Kellogg.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Emelia) Hustus of Bremerton, WA, Brenda (Steve) Ward of Salina and Ronald (Debbie) Hustus of Gypsum, four grandchildren, Nichole Bowden, Eric Ward, Andrew Ward and Jessica Hustus, two great-grandchildren, Camryn Bowden, and Kylee Bowden and one great-great grandchild, Bella Hyden.

Wilda will always be remembered for the sound of her beautiful voice.&nbsp; One of Wilda’s passions was her love of singing, whether it be with the church choir or the years she sang with the Sweet Adelines Chorus.&nbsp; Her beautiful voice was always to be heard.

for the Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Rodney White on August 18, 1972 in Beloit, Kansas.&nbsp; He survives.

Other survivors include her sons J.R. and wife Michelle of Grove, OK 
and Phillip of Sigurd, UT; four grandchildren; two brothers Arnold 
Williams and wife Bonnie of Logan and Doug Monty and wife Dee of Beloit;
 and a half sister Mary JoAnn Ertl and husband Loren of Hope, KS.

Walter Klaus Suhr, 93, of Salina, was called to his eternal home Wednesday, July 28, 2021.&nbsp; He was born to August and Margaret Suhr in Freiburg Elber, Germany, on December 10, 1927.

Walter grew up in West Germany during World War II where he worked in several different fields: farming, steel construction work, and submarine building. He met his true love, Ingrid, in 1953 and they were married on Nov. 27, 1954. She passed away in 2016.

Walter retired from his position as the production coordinator at Premier Pneumatics in 1993 and spent his retirement years traveling, camping, attending his grandkids' sporting events, and spending time with family and friends. 

Although he was a quiet man, within that quietness was a strength that his family always knew they could count on. He was a jack of all trades, always tinkering away at something, whether it was building a house addition, creating beautiful metal art work, sewing beloved Christmas tree skirts, or baking cookies, he put hard work and love into everything he did. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him. A loving dad, grandpa, opa, and onkel, he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by&nbsp; son Fred (Sara) Suhr of McAllen Texas; daughters Shirley (Randy) Rice, of Prosperity S.C., and Jennifer (Shannon) Luthi, of Solomon; grandchildren Roxanne Suhr, Randi (Jamie) Smith,&nbsp; Ethan, Emily and Evan Thompson, and Tristen (Marcus) Denham and Travis Luthi; great-grandson Kalum Denham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, where he was a member.

He loved to be outdoors exploring and riding trails on his mountain bike.&nbsp; With this love of the outdoors, he enjoyed playing disc golf for many years, achieving an amateur championship in 2014.

Rod worked as a pressman for over 17 years with Consolidated Printing company in Salina, KS where he was liked by all but none more than his amazing friend, Debbie Meece.&nbsp; They shared a love for movie one-liners which always made the other laugh. A true friend who stayed with him to the end.

Ruth J. Strecker, 83, Salina, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was born January 18, 1938, in Topeka to Jacob and Amelia (Schiffelbein) Rohr.

Ruth was a homemaker prior to working for Western Auto as a bin filler for 25 years.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; She volunteered for several charities and organizations after retirement.&nbsp; Some of those included Sacred Heart High School, St. Mary’s Grade School, Sunflower Adult Day Care, and Emergency Aid Food Bank.&nbsp; She also spent many hours making over 30,000 rosaries that benefited people around the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 53 years, Carl; brother Jake; sister Marilyn; granddaughter Taylor; and son-in-law Brian Pickering. She was a devout wife, loving mother and awesome grandma and great-grandma. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two sons, Steve and wife Jolan of Pratt, and Greg and wife Laura of Hutchinson; two daughters, Cheryl Pickering, and Laurie Doll and husband Barry, both of Salina; eight grandchildren, Nicole Crouch (Justin), Jake Strecker (Rachel), Bryce and Maddy Strecker, Hannah, Maggie, Luke and Kelsey Doll; two great-grandchildren, Aniston and Jackson Crouch; three step-grandchildren, Curtis and Ben Pickering and April Saskowski; and seven great-step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with a vigil service at 7.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with burial at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.

Orin Shogren died July 29, 2021 surrounded by his family in his home. He was born September&nbsp;10, 1931 to Howard and Berneice (Linderholm) Shogren in McPherson and grew up in&nbsp;Lindsborg, Kansas. He was one of eight siblings. Orin grew up in Lindsborg and joined the Marines in 1951 and was honorably discharged in&nbsp;1953. Once discharged, he returned to Bethany, Kansas and attended Bethany College, where&nbsp;he met Dorothy McCormick. They married in 1957 and were happily married for 64 years. Orin&nbsp;graduated Bethany College with a business degree in accounting in 1957. He worked with&nbsp;Solomon Corporation as a controller. Orin and Dorothy had two sons, Mark and Dale(deceased). He and his wife Dorothy played an&nbsp;integral part in their faith and traveled extensively after his children were grown, travelling to&nbsp;Europe, Canada, Alaska, and the Caribbean, amongst other destinations. He supported his children as they grew up and continued to support his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in&nbsp;their endeavors throughout his life. Orin was known for his fun wood working projects, especially his Halloween figurines that were&nbsp;handed out to children in lieu of candy, as well as his extensive M&amp;M collectables. He enjoyed&nbsp;playing golf with friends and watching it on TV with his family. His sweet tooth was incorrigible&nbsp;and was regularly seen finding a molasses cookie, eating ostakaka with lingonberries, or adding&nbsp;whipped cream to many of Dorothy’s delicious pies.

Orin is preceded in death by his son Dale of Edmond, Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law Rita of&nbsp;Satanta, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; son Mark (Elaine) Shogren, of Lubbock, Texas; daughter-in-law Gwen Shogren of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren Tiffany (Kelvin) Franklin of Olathe,&nbsp;Kansas, Jessica (Aaron) Freeman of Atlanta, Georgia; Caitlin Shogren, Chelsea (Dayton) Lange,&nbsp;Taylor Shogren, and Matthew Shogren, of Edmond, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren Gracie&nbsp;Lange and Zoe Freeman; and sister-in-law, Carol McCormick of Springdale, Arkansas. On Tuesday July 27, 2021, Joshua Paul Stock, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend to all passed away at the age of 31 at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Joshua was born on January 30, 1990, in Salina, Kansas to Paul and Marcia Stock. Born and raised in Salina, Joshua attended and graduated from Salina South High School in 2008. &nbsp;After high school, he went on to attend Kansas State University where he graduated with three degrees. 

His lifelong passion was to fly airplanes. From Piper Cubs to A320 class planes, he loved them all.&nbsp; Joshua was a very talented and skilled pilot who flew and was type-rated in many different aircraft including: the Beech 300 Super King air, several Cessna Citation jet models, sea planes, and most recently the Airbus A320.

From the beginning, Joshua was a beacon of light to all who knew him, a characteristic that followed him through his amazing life. &nbsp;From a young age, Joshua had a dream of flying, a dream he made come true with hard work and determination. Through his accomplishments as a pilot, he was able to travel the world and visit many places around the globe. &nbsp;All who knew and loved him were lucky enough to see the world through his pictures and stories. He will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his kind and generous spirit, and his passionate love for flying, assembling Legos, and spending time with his family and friends.&nbsp;

Left to mourn Joshua’s passing are his father and mother Paul, and Marcia Stock, brother Levi (Madison) Stock, niece Ella, grandmothers Lola Stock and Gaylene Holland, aunts and uncles Christy Stock, Sharie Gillund, Bill (Becky) Stock, Sondra (Art) Bailey, Adonica Holland, many loving cousins, and all his many friends who love him dearly.

Larry E. Mummert, 81, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021. He was born April 7, 1940, in Pratt.

Larry was a self-employed truck driver for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert W., and Doris V. (Souder) Gros, and a stepbrother, Glen McPherson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Glenda Mummert, daughter Sherri (Chris) Davis of Valley Center, and son Gary Mummert of Wichita, a half-sister, Diana King of Hutchinson, and a stepbrother, Greg McPherson, of Platte City, MO, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

No services are planned, as cremation has been chosen.

Memorials may be made to Salina Alzheimer’s Education and Support Group in care of Roselawn Mortuary, P.O. Box 2322, Salina, 67402.

Robert Dennis Bartel, 75, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:32 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2021 peacefully at McPherson Hospital. Bob was born in Goessel, Kansas on May 5, 1946, a son of Roland J. and Matilda Emma (Rempel) Bartel. Bob attended Lehigh grade school and graduated from Lehigh High School, Lehigh, Kansas in 1964. He then attended and graduated from Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson. Through the years Bob owned and operated Bartel Insurance Company, McPherson, Kansas for 22 years. Later he went back to school and got his teaching degree and taught at Hillsboro High School for a number of years until he retired in 2008. After retirement Robert and his sister-in-law owned and operated LB Estate Sales, Newton, Kansas. Bob really enjoyed life, along with cars, trains, airplanes, museums, reading, art, music, talking with people, telling stories, anything his children and grandchildren were involved in. He loved to laugh, and spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. Robert D. Bartel was united in marriage to Sharon E. Goossen on August 24, 1968 in Hillsboro, Kansas. This young couple established their first home together in North Newton, Kansas. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters, Shaun, Sheri, Shannon and Sheldon. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Bartel of McPherson, Kansas; his children Shaun Bartel and his wife Debra, of Newton, Kansas, Sheri Lepard and her husband Alan of Sylvania, Ohio, Shannon Bartel of Newton, Kansas and Sheldon Bartel and his wife Spring of McPherson, Kansas; his brother John Bartel and his wife Lila of Topeka, Kansas; and his sister Mary Johnson and her husband Bill of North Newton, Kansas. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren Sarah Bartel, Megan Bartel, Nick Lepard, Markus Lepard, Haylen Bartel, Jaxson Bartel and Xander Bartel. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, McPherson, Kansas. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, McPherson, Kansas, with Pastor Rose Marie Zook Barber officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
