Barry Lynn Henry, 46, of Canton, Kansas, passed away suddenly at 3:25 a.m., Thursday, August 19th, 2021, at his home in rural Canton, Kansas. Barry was born in Dodge City, Kansas on December 16, 1974. Barry is the son of Leta Irene (Rule) and Gary Jerome Henry. Barry attended Dodge City grade schools and graduated from Dodge City High School, Dodge City, Kansas. He then attended and graduated from Tulsa Welding School, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Through the years Barry worked as a welder, pipefitter, and boilermaker for American Boiler and Mechanical, Salina, Kansas and was currently employed at CHS of McPherson as a pipefitter. Barry Lynn Henry was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Aitken on June 2, 2007 in McPherson, Kansas. This union brought together Barry's son Quentin and Sarah's daughters Silas and Asa. The family established their first home together in McPherson. The couple was blessed with the birth of three children, Wyatt, Levi, and Jovey. In May of 2014 the family fulfilled their dream of moving out to the country. Barry enjoyed cooking and working in his shop. He loved being outside, was very good working with his hands, and renovating their homes. Barry enjoyed welding projects working with wrought iron. He also enjoyed construction projects and carpentry. His greatest love was spending time with his family and helping his children with their rodeo events and other activities. In his younger years, Barry loved dirt bike riding and camping. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Sarah Henry, of Canton, Kansas; his children, Quentin Henry, of Dodge City, Kansas, Silas Courtney, of Canton, Kansas, Asa Courtney, of Canton, Kansas, Wyatt Henry, of Canton, Kansas, Levi Henry, of Canton, Kansas, and Jovey Henry, of Canton, Kansas; his parents, Leta and Gary Henry of Dodge City, Kansas; his brothers, Tracy Henry and wife Tami, of Garden City, Kansas and Bradly Henry and wife Staci, of Salina, Kansas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Barry was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Wayne and Doris Rule and paternal grandparents Fred and Doris Henry. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, Kansas, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 with Pastor Brent Horne officiating. &nbsp;Janice “Jan” Koster, age 82, died peacefully with her children by her side on August 18, 2021, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was born in Cawker City, Kansas on April 5, 1939, to Henry and Susan (Thomas) Koster.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jani was the youngest of twelve siblings and she was very much loved and pampered by all.

Janice was baptized April 8, 1939, and confirmed on May 23, 1951, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City.&nbsp; During her school years she enjoyed cheerleading, music, and playing the saxophone.&nbsp;&nbsp; In May of 1957 Jan graduated from Cawker City High School.&nbsp; Janice married Allan Gaskill on June 1, 1957, and to this union were born two children Scott Allan and Jill Rene.&nbsp;

After moving their family to Cambridge, Nebraska she was active in Beta Nu Sorority.&nbsp; Jan owned and operated The Hair Factory for many years before moving to Colorado to be closer to Jill.&nbsp; She continued to work as a Hair Stylist in Loveland, Colorado for 30 years before retiring and returning to Nebraska to be near Scott and his family.

Jan liked to decorate, clean, and organize when she wasn’t working with her clients.&nbsp; Shopping was one of her favorite activities and she always wore the perfect outfit along with the shoes, accessories, and jewelry to match!&nbsp; She planned her daily retirement schedule around watching her soap opera – "Days of Their Lives".&nbsp; She enjoyed scrapbooking and sharing photographs with family and friends.&nbsp; She loved her sister trips and all the fun memories they made together. Jan especially enjoyed being a member of a big family and always looked forward to attending Koster family reunions.

Jan was very proud of her kids and grandkids, and she delighted in winning at Rummy Cube.&nbsp; Our Mom-Grammy-Grammy Jan-GiGi spoiled all of us with her thoughtful gifts and excellent baking skills.&nbsp;&nbsp; We all remember her yummy, frosted cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and lemon poppy seed bread. Jan was very thoughtful and remembered her family and friends on special occasions with gifts, cards, letters, or phone calls.

Jan is survived by her son Scott (Cindy) Gaskill of Aurora, Nebraska; her daughter Jill Gooden of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren Callie and Brent Gaskill, Chloe, Rhett, and Levi Gooden, and great- granddaughter Hazel Rae.&nbsp; Also left to mourn her passing are her sisters Dolores Quenzer from Valley Center, Kansas; Marilyn (Wayne) Lingg of Alma, Nebraska; brothers Hank (Phyllis) Koster from Salina, Kansas, Cecil Koster of Cawker City, Kansas, and Bobby Koster from Cawker City, Kansas; along with sisters-in-law Aline Koster from Colorado and Yvonne Koster from Iowa; 30 nieces and nephews; several cousins; and special friends in Cambridge, Loveland, and Aurora.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, sister Marcella and her husband Warren Hyde; brothers Charles Koster and his wife Leona, Dick Koster and his wife Rosie, Harold Koster, Jerome and his wife Patricia, Raymond Koster; sisters-in-law Martha Koster, Mary Koster; brother-in-law Clifford Quenzer; and nephews Patrick Koster, Jerry Koster, Steve Lingg, and Tim Holman.

Dennis’ life began on November 15, 1954, the son of Santiago “Sandy” and Constance “Connie” Marie (Bargas) Mascareno in Herington, Kansas. He graduated from Herington High, Class of 1972. Dennis was disabled from a car accident when he was 17 years old. He worked for the railroad and also put together boxes for a clothing store in Herington. He loved his family and enjoyed cars. His loving family includes his mother Connie Mascareno of Manhattan; brother Tim Mascareno and his fiancé Wendy Collier of Auburn, Nebraska; sister Diana Mascareno of Council Grove, Kansas; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Sandy in 2000 and an infant brother Michael. Dennis passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at the age of 66 years old. Rosary and funeral service will be held Monday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Merlin Kieffer officiating at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington. Charlene Francis Guillot passed away peacefully, into her Savior’s loving arms on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the age of 86. Mrs. Guillot was born on February 25, 1935 the daughter of Charles and Juanita Kay (Morris) Brown. She grew up in Herington, Kansas and married Jesse John Guillot on February 27, 1952 in Abilene, Kansas. They were married for 62 years.

Charlene was devoted to her children, grandchildren and family. She was a homemaker and was later employed by Tony’s Pizza Service until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was famous in the circle of family and friends for her peach cobbler and sweet potato pies. She also loved her collection of ceramic birds and people watching. She was preceded in death by her 25-month old daughter Kathy in 1953, her parents and her husband Jesse in 2014.

Her loving family includes her son, David Guillot (Rachel) of Salina, Kansas; daughters, Vickie Guillot and Olivia Price (Keith) all of Salina, Kansas, DeeAnn Spencer (Charles) of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Charles Brown (Diane) of Los Angeles, California, Carl Brown (Delores) and Dennis Brown (Dariel), Curtis Brown, all of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Juanita Rodriquez of Los Angeles, California, Patricia Crenshaw of Atlanta, Georgia, Vernessa Alexander of Seattle, Washington; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her life celebration service will be on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church led by Pastor Allen Smith. Visitation with family will be at 12:00 noon with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. There will be a meal following the service and then a graveside service at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington, Kansas. Carl D. "Curly" Worick, 56, of Salina, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Kenwood View Health &amp; Rehabilitation Center. He had been at Kenwood since 2011 when he had a massive stroke. Carl was born on September 4, 1964, to Richard A. &amp; Joyce M. 'Schmitz' Worick.

Carl grew up in Beloit, KS attending elementary and high school there. He also attended Salina Tech receiving an auto body degree. Carl loved farming alongside his dad, which led to him working as a custom cutter working for a crew in western Kansas. He also worked for several bars and night clubs. At the time of his stroke in 2011 he was manager of Outlaws, a Country nightclub in Salina. Curly, as he was known, had a lot of friends through his job. 

He never knew a stranger. Carl had many close relationships throughout his life, and so many had a special place in his heart. He missed his friends during those 10 years living at Kenwood. A special “Thank You” to all the nurses, CMA's and staff throughout his stay there. You became his family.

Carl never married but helped his sister, Deanna raise her son, Kegan. Carl was preceded in death by his grandparents Ben &amp; Dorothea Schmitz, Emerson and Maxine Worick, parents Richard and Joyce Worick, Uncle Darrell Fenton, Aunt Joann Schmitz, Uncle Jim Baker.

He is survived by his sister Deanna 'Worick' Nwahiri (Nelson), nephew Kegan Worick, Uncle Larry Schmitz, Aunt Donna Baker, Aunt Janice Fenton, Aunt Bernie McCurley and her husband Rex, cousins and tons of extended family and friends.

Michael D. Stinchcomb, 73, of Solomon, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021.&nbsp; He was born June 7, 1948 in Marion to Charles F. and Rosalene A. (Higgins) Stinchcomb.&nbsp; He married Emma E. Nelson on June 25, 1977.

He is preceded in death by his mother; siblings, Charlene Janzen, Charles L. Stinchcomb, and Robert Stinchcomb; and granddaughter Katelynn Hildebrandt.

SALINA -&nbsp;Ruth L. Jennings&nbsp;went on to eternal rest on August 17, 2021 in Salina, Kansas. Ruth was born in Tipton, Kansas on March 6, 1938 to Mark and Christina (Konzem) Hake. Ruth and her eight siblings were raised on a farm near Tipton, KS. She graduated from St. Boniface Catholic School in Tipton.

After high school, Ruth moved to Salina and met her husband, Robert (Bob) L. Jennings, at a SYAC dance. They were married April 6, 1959.

Over the years, Ruth worked at Gibson's Discount Center, Capital Federal Savings and Kmart, retiring in 1998. In addition to working outside her home, Ruth assisted Bob with the operation of a horse stable, raising farm animals, milking cows and many remodeling projects before and after her retirement.

Ruth was a parent volunteer in the Willing Workers 4-H Club during her children's years in 4-H. Ruth also enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery and quilting. She sewed clothing for her children and created treasured dolls, stuffed animals and quilts for her family and friends. Ruth was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her husband Bob; parents; step-father Claude McKnight; sisters Charlene Marek and Elaine Parrack; sister-in-law Mary Kay Hake; brother-in-law Marvin Parrack; step-brother Jack McKnight, and two nephews.

Ruth is survived by her children Bobbie Bengtson (Greg), Ronald Jennings and Randy Jennings (Becky); grandchildren Anton Bengtson (Betsy), Katie Winberg (Ryan), Blaine Bengtson (fiancée, Stephanie), Justin Bengtson, Abby Jennings, David Jennings (Brooke), Stephanie Jennings, Melissa Jennings, Chantel Schuster, and Audrey Mendez (Tony); great-grandchildren Tilly Bengtson, Theodore Bengtson, Oliver Winberg, Franklin Winberg, Effie Winberg, and Ruthie Morse; brothers Jerome Hake (Fay), Alan Hake (Vera), Leon Hake (Gail) and Meldon Hake; sisters Marilyn Balaun (Larry) and Karen Walters (Harry); step-sister-in-law Tess McKnight.

Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Weigel) Denning, age 73, former Victoria, Kansas, resident died Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Diversicare of Council Grove, Kansas.

She was born November 11, 1947, in Hays, Kansas to Alfred G. and Mary Anna (Hammerschmidt) Weigel.&nbsp; She married Dennis L. Denning on October 15, 1977 at Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on August 9, 2014.

Betty was a bookkeeper for over 40 years.&nbsp; She worked at Home Lumber Company, Kansas Producers Gas Company, and Wasinger Brothers Plumbing-Heating &amp; Air all of Hays.&nbsp; She grew up in Victoria, and was a 1965 graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp; She was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis and&nbsp; Christian Mothers both of Victoria.&nbsp; She volunteered a lot in the church, the community, Girl Scouts and served on the Ellis County Council Cancer.

Survivors include her daughter, Alicia Kelley and husband, Michael, Council Grove; three grandchildren, Ava, Owen and Everly Kelley; four sisters, Theresa Klaus and Agnes Weigel, both of Hays, KS; Twila Weigel, Victoria, KS; Stella Weigel, Salina, KS; one brother-in-law, Morris Denning and wife, Janet, Hays, KS; one sister-in-law, Dianne Ream, Hays, KS;&nbsp;

Kari Jean (Kloewer) Cornwell was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa to James and Norma Olson Kloewer on June 28, 1976.

Kari grew up in Stuart, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1994.&nbsp; After high school Kari attended Iowa State University graduating in 1999 obtaining her BS degree.&nbsp; She furthered her education at Penn Valley College to become a certified occupational therapist assistant. She worked with patients at Mid-America Rehab. Hospital and Excelsior Springs Hospital.&nbsp; She thoroughly loved her job and the many patients she worked with.

On October 16, 2010 she married Brandon Allen Cornwell.&nbsp; Two children were born to this union, Ava Marie&nbsp;and Cash Allen.&nbsp; After living in Kansas City the family moved to Lawson, MO in 2015 to be near Kari’s family and to raise their children in a small community.&nbsp; Kari had a great love for her family which also included her four legged pets, but her greatest joy was her children.

In June of 2020 Brandon received a new job that brought them to Belleville, KS.&nbsp; Shortly after moving, Kari was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.&nbsp; She courageously battled against this horrible disease with a smile on her face.&nbsp;

Kari’s last wish was to take her beloved children to the ocean, sink their toes in the sand, and experience a sense of peace together after her long fight. Even though she didn’t make it to the beach with them, her wish was fulfilled when her husband, children, and friends traveled to the ocean after her passing.

Kari passed away on August 13, 2021, at the age of 45 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Kari was preceded in death by her grandparents Vince and Ruby Kloewer and Donald and LuRene Olson, uncles Roger Olson, Ron Olson, Edward Kloewer, David Disburg, Dennis Ramsey and aunt Leona Gibbons.

Kari is survived by her husband Brandon, children Ava and Cash, parents James and Norma Kloewer of Stuart, IA, in-laws Dan and Donita Cornwell of Osborne, KS, sisters Kelly Marnin (Terry) of Stuart, IA, Kim Ross (Clint) of Lawson, MO, brother Kory Kloewer (Becky) of Kansas City, MO, sister-in-law Stori Norton (Russ), and three nieces, three nephews, two grea- nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Edward Catholic Church in Belleville. Burial will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery.

Melva Linda (Reimer) Bartel was born November 4, 1920 to Abraham S. and Katharina Buller Reimer. She and her five sisters (Alice, Dora, Erna, Milda, and Lenora (Lou)) grew up on a farm northwest of Goessel in McPherson County.

Linda attended Emma Valley Grade School and graduated from Goessel High School in 1939. She was baptized May 16, 1937 at Goessel Mennonite Church by Reverend P. P. Buller. She worked at the Bethel Hospital in Newton from 1939 until the summer of 1942.

On November 12, 1942, she married Melvin O. Bartel. She joined the Johannestal Mennonite Church on November 14, 1943. Later she and Melvin joined the Lehigh Mennonite Church on March 6, 1966. Linda joined First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro on May 19, 1996, where she remained a member until her departure to her heavenly home on August 16, 2021.

Melvin and Linda lived on a farm northwest of Hillsboro and were blessed with four children (Gilbert, Roger, Janice and Tamara). Linda worked for 20 years at Ratzlaff Draperies in Goessel from 1978 to 1998. She continued to live on the farm and work after Melvin passed away in 1984. She moved to Grand Oaks Apartments in Hillsboro in 1998 shortly after her retirement. She moved to Bethesda Home in Goessel in March of 2015.

Linda enjoyed working outside in her garden on the farm and her flower garden at Grand Oaks. She also enjoyed walking through the butterfly garden at Bethesda Home. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her children and grandchildren especially enjoyed her baking which routinely included zwieback, cherry rolls and special apricot cookies at Christmas. The family would get together on Sunday evenings at her apartment and Mom always had baked goods to share with us. While they were able to do so, Linda and her sisters Erna and Milda took several bus tours to different parts of the United States which they all enjoyed.

When visiting with Mom about her life sketch, she indicated that she wanted her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren to know how much she loved each of them and how “precious” they were to her. Family was of utmost importance to her and she loved all of us unconditionally and would do anything for us that she could. What she did most faithfully was pray for family and friends.

Linda celebrated her 100th birthday in 2020 with her family. 

She went to her heavenly home early in the morning of August 16, 2021. She will be remembered with love and for the amazing, strong woman that she was.

She is preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, her husband Melvin in 1984, her son Gilbert Bartel in 2005, her daughter Tammy Bartel Beason in 1987. 

She is survived by her son Roger and wife Fern Bartel, daughter Janice and husband Rick Hoefer, grandchildren Kristina Bartel, Steve Bartel and fiancé Krista Buller, Jenny and husband Jeff Wells, Josh and wife Bridgette Meliza, Robin and husband Zach Ebmeier, Nicki and husband Kevin Nolasco, great-grandchildren Seth Bartel and wife Abby, Hannah Bartel, Amanda Bartel, Emma Bartel, Reiley Wells, Nathan Wells, Emiley Wells, Casen Meliza, Calen Meliza, Zander Ebmeier, Sam, Corina, Casey, Cheyenne and several great-great grandchildren.

Even though we know she is in a better place, she will be greatly missed but the love remains.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was baptized May 16, 1937 at Goessel Mennonite Church by Reverend P. P. Buller. She worked at the Bethel Hospital in Newton from 1939 until the summer of 1942.On November 12, 1942, she married Melvin O. Bartel. She joined the Johannestal Mennonite Church on November 14, 1943. Later she and Melvin joined the Lehigh Mennonite Church on March 6, 1966. She worked at Winslow Accounting as a bookkeeper, B.W. Jones &amp; Sons School Bus Service where she was a driver and dispatcher, and for Sterling Drug on the production line. Mary Lou was born on December 8, 1930, in Meade, KS, the daughter of Loren Herbert and Ola Edmona (Taylor) Stratton. She graduated from St. John (KS) High School in 1948. On December 12, 1953, Mary Lou married Harvey H. Schmidt in Abilene, KS, and together they raised three children. Harvey preceded Mary Lou in death on May 22, 2013. She was a member of First Church of God, Hutchinson. Survivors include: three children, Linda Gilham (Dan) of Belle Plains, KS, Terry Schmidt (Debra) of Lawrence, KS, and Tim Schmidt (Roxanne) of McPherson, KS; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces &amp; nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Edgar, Herb, and Harold Stratton. Diann Marie Wainwright, 38, of Alta Vista, Kansas, died August 8, 2021 at the Morris County Hospital.

Diann was born on October 23, 1982 the daughter of Dennis Wainwright and Wanda (Wilkerson) Timm. She was born at the Morris County Hospital, although her initial birth announcement listed her as being born at the courthouse. Diann was a 2001 graduate of Council Grove High School. While in high school, she was a member of FCCLA, participating in contests and trips to Iowa. She was a 10-year member of Santa Fe Trail 4-H Club in Morris County. Her projects included clothing, dog, cat, rabbits, poultry, and her favorite was the horse project. Over the years Diann enjoyed showing horses in a variety of 4-H and Eastern Kansas Horseman Association shows. One of her showing highlights was showing at the American Royal.

Diann’s career in the hospitality industry led her to general manager position at Wendy’s in Manhattan. After guiding her employees and store through a major renovation, out of 49 Wendy’s stores, they achieved ranking in the top five.

Diann was a member of the First Baptist church of Council Grove, and was active in the youth group throughout high school. In addition to her horses and house pets, Diann thoroughly enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She also loved the years she lived in St Louis. She loved to travel, see new things and meet new people. Although she was not a fan of yardwork, she did enjoy hosting backyard parties for family and friends.

Diann was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Edgar and Mary Lou Wainwright and Ted and Evelyn Wilkerson. 

She is survived by her father Dennis Wainwright, Alta Vista; mother Wanda Timm (Russell), Council Grove; sister Darci Wainwright, Alta Vista; brother Daniel Wainwright (Lisa), Council Grove; niece Mandy Jo; nephew Augustus; step-son Sean McGovern LaGrange, NC; stepdaughter Patricia McGovern-Cosentino, Grand Junction, Co; stepgrandchildren: Jackson McGovern and Parker McGovern-Leach; significant other Melvin Sanford; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Jolie Sue McDaniel, age 41, of Lyons, KS, left this earthly life on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, KS.&nbsp; She was born on April 16, 1980 in Emporia, KS to Clayton R. &amp; Amy S. (Bare) McIlvain.

Jolie graduated from Madison High School in 1998.&nbsp; She then graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.&nbsp; She married Adam McDaniel on December 29, 2001 at the Madison United Methodist Church, Madison, KS.

Her first job was as a soda jerk for the Pope Drug Store in Madison, KS.&nbsp; Jolie’s most loved job was helping to start the Highland Community College Western Center in Baileyville, KS.&nbsp; She has also served as the executive director of United Way in Dodge City; board clerk for Rural Vista USD 481; registrar for Salina Area Technical College; director for the Conservation District for Rawlins County; a secretary for Minneola High School; At-Risk Coordinator for USD 218 and most recently, a high school business teacher for USD 405.&nbsp; 

She was a member of the United Methodist Church throughout her life.&nbsp;

James F. Malo, 79, of Abilene passed away August 18, 2021. He was born in Concordia, Kansas July 18, 1942, the son of Albert and Eva (Gagnon) Malo. James grew up in Clyde, Kansas where he graduated from high school. 

On October 12, 1963 he was united in marriage to Sonja Peterson. She preceded him in death January 22, 2014. 

James worked for United Telephone as a lineman for a couple years after high school. He later went on to work for Russell Stover in Kansas City and later worked 32 years for the Department of Army in civil services. 

 James is survived by his daughter, Karla Efurd (Chris) of Abilene and son, Kevin (Marie) Malo of Abilene; four grandchildren: JoAnna (Thomas) Baker; Matthew (Alisha) Malo; and Kristen and Carrie Efurd; three great-grandchildren: Kalan and Lennox Baker and Isla Malo; sister Marjorie Asper of Livingston, Texas,&nbsp; and sister-in-law Sharon (Wayne) Schad of Edmond, Oklahoma. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Sonja and two sisters, Gladys Charbonneau and Ruth Malo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Peter O’Donnell officiating. Parish rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Tuesday before mass at the church. Family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. James’ final resting place will be in the Abilene City Cemetery.

Rita M. (Sallman) Begnoche, age 74, entered into rest on Wednesday August 11th, 2021, at Minneapolis Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on August 9, 1947 in Concordia, Kansas to Walter and Mabel (Vanick) Sallman.

Rita attended Concordia High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

She worked for the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (currently DCF) as a Social Worker.&nbsp; Rita retired in 2013.

Rita loved spending time with family, her children, most of all her beloved grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her son, Rusty Sikes (Rebecca), Clyde, KS; daughter, Chelsea Sutton (Jarrod Sawyer), Salina, KS; 5 grandchildren, Colin Sikes (Lauren), Abby Sikes (Lucas), Gavin Sutton, Karsyn Sikes, Whitley Sikes; 3 sisters, Vivian Schwab, Clay Center, KS; Eva Schwab, Clifton, Melisa Stolzenburg (Mike), Ames, KS; 2 brothers, Gary Sallman, Houston, KS; Karl (Debbie) Sallman, Clifton, KS; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

David V. Anderson, age 81, of Burr Oak, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his residence. David was born on January 15, 1940 in Huntington Park, California to Verner and Edith (Lewis) Anderson.

David was a 1957 graduate of Huntington Park High. He then received his associate degree from Orange Coast Jr. College. David went on to receive his bachelor degree in physical education from Denver University in 1962.&nbsp;

David married Patricia Ann Byers on August 29, 1965, at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church. On August 29 of this year, David and Pat would have celebrated their 56th year of marriage. To this union, two children were born, Steven and Gail.

David received his master of education degree from Colorado State University. He taught for 33 years in the Denver Public School System, retiring in 1996. After retirement, he moved back to the family farm in Burr Oak, Kansas, where he started a swathing and baling business, Anderson Hay Service.

He was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, Emory Clemons American Legion Post #263, and the Jewell County Masonic Lodge #11. &nbsp;David was a U.S. veteran serving in the United States Naval Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1963.

David is survived by his wife, Pat of the home, son, Steven Anderson, Burr Oak, KS; daughter, Gail Baca (Wayne), Brighton, CO; two grandchildren, Gunner and Jaycie Prim, a brother, Paul Anderson, Downey, CA; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Frisbie (Jerry), Winston, OR.

She worked for the Remington School District as a para-professional in 1987 and later became the secretary to the high school principal until retiring in 1994. She loved her family, and enjoyed her flowers, quilting, puzzles and mowing her yard. She was a member of the Remington Historical Society.
