Kathy was born on May 28, 1955, to Wayne and Dorothy (Reis) Johnson in Joplin, Missouri. She graduated from Columbus Unified High School in Columbus, Kansas in 1973.
She married John Michael Boccia on November 8, 1974 at the First Baptist Church in Carl Junction, Missouri.
She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were all in school. Afterwards she worked as a paraprofessional at Potwin Elementary School for several years. Most recently, she worked as the secretary for the Potwin Christian Church up until her passing. On Sunday mornings, she was up front with the worship team to lead praise music.
Kathy loved her family – especially being a mom and “Mamow.” She was generous with her time and warmly welcomed people into her home; many can attest to her delicious cooking. She enjoyed Kansas State football and George Strait music.
Her loving family includes her children, Michael (Erin) Boccia of Wichita, Gina Boccia of Elbing, Nathan (Sharla) Boccia of Andover; grandchildren, Evelyn, Timothy, Julia and Nicolas Boccia, Olivia and Breck Wisdom, Sophia, Talia, and Gemma Boccia; siblings, Gary (Deonne) Johnson of Hutchinson, Lana (Jeff) Royster of Galena, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, who passed away within three weeks of one another just one year ago, her husband, John, who passed on December 23, 2021, and an infant brother, Troy Johnson.
Kathy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 66 years old.
Her funeral service will be held with husband John’s, on Saturday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Potwin Christian Church, 123 Violet, Potwin, Kansas. Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery, Furley, KS.
