Burl LeRoy Tompkins 86, passed away on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at Parkview Care Center, Osborne, KS.

Burl was born on May 28, 1939, in Smith Center, KS to Orville and Margarite (Duer) Tompkins. Burl graduated from Portis High School in the class of 1959. When he was in school he worked for local farmers, while also serving in the Kansas National Guard. Burl worked several different jobs throughout his life. He was a construction worker, mechanic, and a truck driver. On August 8, 1966, Burl married Cheryl Thompson, in this union they were blessed with two daughters Ami and Jonna. On May 29, 1981, Burl married Judith Brummer, to this union Judy brought three daughters Jodi, Mary Ann, and Kristi.

Burl was very handy and could repair almost anything that was broken; He was very active in the church. He was a head usher and no matter what the weather was like Burl made sure the church was open and ready for services, activities, or whatever was going on at the church. Burl enjoyed watching KU basketball, doing word search and hidden object puzzles. He also loved watching the birds and squirrels play, and took great joy playing dominoes with the residents at Parkview Care Center.

Burl is preceded in death by his parents, sister Rose Sears, and brother Alvin Tompkins.

Burl is survived by his wife Judith Tompkins of Osborne, 5 daughters Ami (Doug) McMurdo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jonna Gilliam, Santa Fe, Texas, Jodi Holmes, Russell, Kansas, Mary Ann Graham, Lawrence, Kansas, Kristi (L.A.) Scott, San Bernardino, California, two sisters Vonda Tompkins, Osborne, Kansas Ethel (Derald) Sears, Smith Center, Kansas, and one brother Edward (Fontella) Tompkins, Osborne, Kansas. Burl was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne United Methodist Church on July 12, 2025 at 11:30am. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials to be given to Osborne United Methodist Church, 105 N 3rd St. Osborne, KS 67473

Sister Marilyn Stahl died June 26, 2025 at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was 84 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 65 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Plainville, KS on February 10, 1941 to Bernard and Grace Bisset Stahl, the second of nine children, and was baptized Marilyn.&nbsp;&nbsp;She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on February 2, 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp;On August 15, 1959, Marilyn received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Joseph Raphael, later returning to her baptismal name.&nbsp;&nbsp;She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1960 and final vows on August 15, 1963.

Sister Marilyn received her BA in history from Marymount College in 1967 followed by a MA in history from Indiana University in 1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;Marilyn taught history at Marymount College until 1982.&nbsp;&nbsp;From there she moved to Washington, DC and then to New York to follow her passion for social justice and to live with the Sisters of the Presentation.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2004 she returned to Wichita, KS where she worked for the Diocese of Wichita and did volunteer work.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2017 Sister Marilyn retired to the Motherhouse in Concordia, KS

Sister Marilyn Stahl 

Mabel Lillian Masten, 103, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1921, on the family homestead in Dillon, Kansas to Christian and Ernestine (Pjesky) Pschigoda. She grew into adulthood during the Great Depression and was very proud to be the first in her family to graduate from Hope High School in 1941. On November 28, 1942 in Fort Riley, Kansas, with the country at war, she was united in marriage to Gaius P. Masten. Mabel supported homefront war efforts by working in a large bakery in Michigan during his Philippines Tour.

Following the war, Mabel learned to professionally decorate cakes at the Wilton School in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, Gauis and Mabel owned and operated Saundra’s Bakery from 1949-1977 and made their home in Herington, Kansas. She took great pride in all the cakes she decorated and is remembered by many as the person who decorated a cake for their special life events. Mabel considered two cakes especially challenging - A Rock Island Anniversary Cake made to serve 1400 people and a cake made to replicate the First National Bank Building in Herington. Mabel made and decorated her last wedding cake for the marriage of her granddaughter in 2004, at the age of 83.

When the bakery closed, Mabel remained active as a homemaker and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herington for many years, and served as Sunday School teacher and Youth Leader. Her home always had an open door and she thoroughly enjoyed visits from family and friends. Mabel loved gifts of chocolate, word search books, puzzles, and always enjoyed being treated to Pizza Hut.

Mabel believed in the power of prayer and God’s promise in Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” and loved the song “Because He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow”. Mabel had a kind and compassionate spirit and blessed others with her positive outlook on life. At the age of 99, Mabel moved to Marion Assisted Living and often told those caring for her “I love you so much, you are so kind, you are so beautiful, you are so special.” She rarely focused on negativity and throughout the storms of life taught us to cling tightly to our faith.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Carl, Reynold, Walter, Harold, Edwin, Emma, Martha, Esther, and Anna. She is survived by daughters, Saundra (Ed) Hartl of Calhan, CO and Terry (Larry) Ryff of Hope, KS; her grandchildren, Brandon Ryff of Kansas City, KS, and Kimberly (Kelvin) Kroupa of Marion, KS; her great-grandchildren Karsen Kroupa and Kole Kroupa, and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Friday June 27, 2025 from 9-10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Herington. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the church following visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Herington, Kansas.

Abagail Eklund, Age 25, passed away on June 17, 2025, in Salina, Kansas.

Abagail, also known as Abby, went to Southeast of Saline for her high school career and then went on to attend Fort Hays State University.

From the moment she could walk, Abagail was known for her strong will, bright spirit, and pure care for those around her. She radiated joy, love, grace, and unwavering faith, not only with her family and friends but also with those she had only just met. People often said she had a special gift for making others feel seen, heard, and instantly at ease, as if they had been friends for years. Her laughter told stories of its own, warm and comforting, like a hug that felt like coming home.

Abby had a nomadic soul and an adventurous heart, always ready to seize any opportunity to travel and experience life to the fullest. She never turned down a trip to the beach. She loved soaking up the sun, spending time with her family, and getting her well-earned tan. She was also fond of dressing up and sharing laughter while having a fun time with her friends and family. Many would say her spirit was in sync with the sun itself, as her smile had a way of lighting up any room she entered.

She found joy in the little things: listening to her favorite music, immersing herself in a good book, and attending live concerts whenever possible. But what mattered most to her was showing up for the people she loved. Whether it was a family gathering or cheering on her little sister Lilly at softball games, Abby always made time for those who meant the most to her.

Above all, her faith was at the center of everything she did. Though free-spirited and full of life, Abby remained grounded in her belief that God was greater than any challenge she&nbsp;faced.

God shaped Abby into a beautiful woman, someone who was kind, radiant, faithful, and deeply loving. She was a role model for her siblings, a light to her family, and a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Abby is survived by her father, Chad Eklund (Tracy), and her mother, Amber Banks (Scott); her siblings, Seth Eklund, Bryce Banks, Bryant Banks, Brooke Banks, Lilly Banks, Chelsea Sharma (Eshan), Riley Anderson, and Zayden Anderson. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Brandy Gillespie, Kelly Cole (Jeff), Jennifer Anderson (Josh), Melissa Holcom (Chasen), Jake Deatherage (Nicole), and Darrin Deatherage; and her grandparents, John

Eklund (Jeanette), Debbie Hayden, Glenda Eidet, Don Deatherage, Connie Johnson, and Tim Banks, and numerous cousins and friends.

A public viewing will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Burial and Cremation (1920 E. Crawford St., Salina, KS 67401) on Friday, June 27. On Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 AM, the funeral service will be held at The Ark Church (2020 S. Ohio St., Salina, KS 67401), followed by a celebration of life at The Venue (638 Francis St., Salina, KS 67401).

Abagail Eklund

Ronald E. Dean was born September 29, 1950 in Albany, New York, the son of John and Jean (McDiffit) Dean. He passed away June 17, 2025 at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.

Following graduation from high school, Ron served his country for 20 years in the United States Army and the National Guard.

He worked for ABB in Enterprise in the Maintenance Department until it closed and then was in maintenance for Russell Stover Candies in Abilene.

Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was united in marriage to Kathy Walker on February 3, 1973 in Junction City. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Bobby Jo West of Salina, Karen Dean of Junction City, Kansas, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Son Ron on June 3, 1992, and his parents.

Cremation is planned and a graveside service for Ron will be 10:30 am Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Prairie Mound Cemetery near Solomon with Pastor Keith Acker officiating.

Ronald E. Dean

Raylene Emily (Beadleston) Alvarez 87, Abilene Kansas passed away at the Wakefield Rehabilitation and Care Center on June 23, 2025. She was the second born child to Ralph E Beadleston and Grace (Yantiss) Beadleston at their home near Oak Hill, Kansas on March 20, 1938.

Raylene attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse 'just over the hill’. She graduated with the class of 1956 from DCCHS in Chapman, Kansas.

She married Jerry Joyce in May 1956 and brought Denise, Rhonda, Doug and David to this union. They later divorced.

She worked at Southwestern Bell as a phone operator for a short time. As well as in the bakery at West’s grocery.

On May 20, 1968, she married Raymond M. Alvarez. To this union came Daryl and Kevin plus a host of stepchildren.

Raylene had the greatest heart, filled with love and pride for each and every child. She was an excellent mother, and a loving grandmother.

She was a member of the Abilene Eagles Auxiliary,

She was the second born child to Ralph E Beadleston and Grace (Yantiss) Beadleston at their home near Oak Hill, Kansas on March 20, 1938.Raylene attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse 'just over the hill’. She graduated with the class of 1956 from DCCHS in Chapman, Kansas.She married Jerry Joyce in May 1956 and brought Denise, Rhonda, Doug and David to this union. They later divorced.She worked at Southwestern Bell as a phone operator for a short time. As well as in the bakery at West’s grocery.On May 20, 1968, she married Raymond M. Alvarez. To this union came Daryl and Kevin plus a host of stepchildren.Raylene had the greatest heart, filled with love and pride for each and every child. Lawrence Verne Michel, forever 88, of Downs, KS, passed away on Friday, June 20th, 2025, surrounded by his family at Parkview Care Center in Osborne, KS. Lawrence was born on December 3rd, 1936, in rural Russell, KS to John and Hilda (Rein) Michel. Lawrence was the oldest of six children with three sisters and two brothers.

Lawrence met his wife, Judith “Judy” Faye Luckey, in Glen Elder, KS, in their teenage years of life. It has been said that he was not quite sure that Judy liked him, but, thanks to a friend, they fell in love. After their courtship, they married on June 12, 1960. To this union three children were born, Larry, in December 1963, Lynette, in July 1966, and youngest, Lisette, in November 1967. Lawrence truly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and was always grateful for the weekly, and sometimes daily phone calls as he never mastered text messaging.

Lawrence was a lover of farming. When his father became ill, Lawrence was 22 years old, and became a very important part of running the Michel farm. He had his struggles in his life, as everyone has, but became the wonderful person we knew and will remember with love and tenderness. Lawrence enjoyed John Deere, food, Chevrolet vehicles, and his beloved Kansas Jayhawks, among other things. While he was still mobile and able to drive, you could find him at Alta getting coffee, or the elevator visiting with his friends, or driving around looking at the local crops all the way to and from his house. Lawrence had an uncanny ability to talk to anyone and everyone he met, and it was a true testament to his kind and gentle soul. Although he was stubborn and very hard-headed, he had a warmth about him that his wife, children and grandchildren are very familiar with. His grandchildren will remember how he would empty his pockets of change or give his small bills away so that they had something to take home. Lawrence had a variety of special relationships in his life. Those relationships will always be remembered and cherished.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda (Rein) Michel, sister, Jane Monk,brother, Robert “Bob” Michel, and son-in-law, Daniel “Dan” Worley. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of the home, son, Larry (Jennifer) Michel of Salina, KS, daughter, Lynette (Bradley) Engelken of Overland Park, KS, daughter, Lisette Worley, of Osborne, KS, granddaughter Kelsey (Andrew) Clark, granddaughter Raegan (Phillip) Shamburg, granddaughter Madison (Bobby) Bliss, granddaughter Laurel (Alex) Driskell, grandson Jeffrey (Allie) Michel, grandson James (Ashley) Michel, grandson Kyle (Tiffany) Engelken, grandson Mason Engelken, grandson Samuel Engelken, brother Jerry, sisters Betty and Sarah, a host of nieces and nephews, and eight great grandchildren, Reid, Noah, Maci, Harlyne, Olson, Asher, Mia, Hudson, and Daphne.

Lawrence will be greatly missed by his family. We know that Grandpa is in Heaven, surrounded by those who have gone before him, and now the anxieties and worries of his life have faded away. He is not in pain, no more suffering, and is finally at peace. Lawrence and Judy celebrated 65 years of marriage shortly before God called Lawrence home, this was such a blessing. We love you forever and always and we will see you again at the other end of the stars.

Lawrence Verne Michel

Matthew John Mahoney, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 49. He was born on November 26, 1975, in Salina, Kansas, and was the son of Garry and Peg Mahoney.

Matt grew up in Wichita, Kansas. From a young age, he enjoyed learning about engines and woodworking from his dad, spending time with his loyal dog, Maddie, and masterfully annoying his two sisters. Many weekends were spent with trips to Dorrance and Wilson visiting his grandparents. His childhood provided many lifelong memories made on the farm, working on the Avery tractor and riding his favorite horse, Copper. The family loved going to Wilson Lake, spending time on their purple dock, boating, and jumping off the cliffs. It was there that Matt developed his love for lake life. Matt made good mischief (mostly) with boys who grew into his lifelong friends. They kept their mother on her toes with practical jokes, much to her chagrin.

Matt graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1994. He continued his education at Kansas State University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1999. After college, Matt moved to Lawrence and started his first job. The job itself was insignificant, but the important part is, this is the town where he met his future wife. He then began his career at Honeywell Aerospace where he worked until 2014 before joining Peterson Manufacturing where he became the Director of Purchasing. Known for his friendly demeanor and pragmatic approach, Matt was respected and well-liked by his colleagues.

On June 19, 2004, Matt married Sara Pfannenstiel at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson, Kansas. Their wedding reception and dance at the Opera House was a joyful beginning to a life filled with adventure, laughter and love. Before welcoming their children Maeve in 2012 and Liam in 2015, Matt and Sara shared a passion for travel and some of their most favorite vacations included Italy, Greece, France, and Jamaica.

Matt had a witty sense of humor, a big laugh, and an easy ability to develop lasting friendships. He loved 4th of July fireworks, Red Hot Chili Peppers concerts, Royals games, hosting Chiefs Super Bowl parties, and impromptu happy hour gatherings with neighbors. His favorite summer days were spent boating and waterskiing on the lake with his family, and he especially loved spending the day in Manhattan for K-State tailgating and football games with family and friends.

Most of all, Matt was a devoted and fun-loving dad to Maeve and Liam. He always made time to play catch in the backyard, get the go-kart up and running,&nbsp;and take the Model A out for a family drive. He was there to cheer the kids on at their sporting and school events and attended Boy Scout and Girl Scout camp days. Like most of his family, Matt showed his love through making food such as homemade pancakes on the weekends and homemade vanilla ice cream for birthday parties. He taught the kids how to water ski, mow the yard, build Pinewood Derby cars, do household fix-it projects, and wrap up the backyard trees in Christmas lights. Matt never stopped giving his time and energy for his family. His final labor of love was building a backyard raised garden with his children, now flourishing with vegetables, a lasting gift to his family.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Sara; their children Maeve and Liam; his mother Peg; sisters Anne and Erin; mother-in-law Diana; brother-in-law Derek; brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Tanda; and nieces and nephews Jaxson, Lexi, Nicolas, Ana Lucia, Blake and&nbsp;

Collin. Matt was preceded in death by his father Garry Mahoney and father-in-law Kenny Pfannenstiel.

Barbara "Barb” (Adams) Huber, Concordia, passed away on June 20, 2025. She was born on May 26,1938, to Francis Opal (Barleen) and Lawrence Bernice Adams.

Barb grew up in Concordia and attended Concordia High School, graduating in 1956. It was at CHS where she met the love of her life, Walt Huber. Barb fondly recalls “smooching with Walt” at the rocks east of town back in the day. His charm and (mostly true) fishing tales won her heart, and Walt and Barb were married on January 11, 1959.&nbsp;

Barb worked for many years at the Gelvin Haughey Clinic as a switchboard operator. After the clinic closed, she worked at JC Penney and the Lincoln School until retirement.

Barb gave birth to three sons in three years, thus proving she is a saint. She had a sweet spirit that stayed with her to the end. She was very proud of her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved attending sporting events and activities as they grew up.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walt, parents Francis and Lawrence Adams, siblings Bernice Fief and Larry Adams, and daughter-in-law Lisa.

She will be missed by her children, Chris Huber and wife Mary of Great Bend, KS, Eric Huber and wife Sue, and Doug Huber and wife Donna all of Concordia; Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, plus two on the way.

Barbara (Adams) Huber

Frank E. Mussemann, 100, of Hays, Kansas, and formerly of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.

He was born on December 7, 1924, in WaKeeney to Gerhard and Bessie (Krhut) Mussemann. Frank grew up in WaKeeney and on his 17th birthday in 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor marked the beginning of World War II. Answering the call to serve, he enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation. Frank trained as a pilot in Texas and continued his training in California, where he learned to land aircraft on carriers. When flying near home, he would often circle the family farm as a signal to his mother that he was safe. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to WaKeeney and joined his father in farming, raising cattle and growing a variety of crops.

On November 23, 1948, Frank married Nathalie E. Zeman in WaKeeney. Together they made their home and raised four children: Dennis, Christine, Sharla, and Julie.

Frank was a dedicated member of his community and church. He served as a longtime council member and treasurer of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was an 80-year member of the American Legion Post #197, served on the WaKeeney Coop Board of Directors, and was a WaKeeney Township Trustee. He enjoyed many years as a member of Big Creek Golf Course where he enjoyed many hours on the greens.

A true outdoorsman, Frank especially loved elk hunting trips in the Colorado mountains, where he would ride horseback and camp in tents for a true backcountry experience. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, and golfing, and found great joy in being active and outdoors.

Frank is survived by his children: Dennis (Lori) Mussemann of Wamego, KS, Christine (Gregory) Trogstad of WaKeeney, Sharla (David) Albers of Brownell, KS, and Julie Mussemann of Kapolei, HI; brother, Glenn (Carol) Mussemann of Carriere, MS; five grandchildren: Taylor (Melinda) Trogstad of Salina, KS, Bethany Trogstad of Prairie Village, KS, Seth (Jami) Albers of Voda, KS, Silas (Megan) Albers of Ransom, KS, and Hannah (Josh) Enslow of Hays, KS; and eleven great-grandchildren: Crew Trogstad, Nelson Murdock, Maura, Thaddeous and Lennox Albers; Zaddok, Everly, and Ensley Albers; Bryson, Hattie, and Joelle Enslow. He is remembered fondly by many special nieces, nephews, and his good friends at Brookdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Bessie; wife, Nathalie; infant son, Charles; infant siblings, Elsie and Dale; sisters, Margaret Papes, Agnes Stradal, and Josephine Ziegler; son-in-law, Don Holden; and infant great-grandson, Maddox Albers.

Frank’s long life was one of service, strength, and quiet devotion to his family, community, and country. He will be deeply missed by all&nbsp;who knew and loved him.

Mussemann, 100, of Hays, Kansas, and formerly of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.He was born on December 7, 1924, in WaKeeney to Gerhard and Bessie (Krhut) Mussemann. Frank grew up in WaKeeney and on his 17th birthday in 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor marked the beginning of World War II. Answering the call to serve, he enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation. Frank trained as a pilot in Texas and continued his training in California, where he learned to land aircraft on carriers. When flying near home, he would often circle the family farm as a signal to his mother that he was safe. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to WaKeeney and joined his father in farming, raising cattle and growing a variety of crops.On November 23, 1948, Frank married Nathalie E. Zeman in WaKeeney. Together they made their home and raised four children: Dennis, Christine, Sharla, and Julie.Frank was a dedicated member of his community and church. He served as a longtime council member and treasurer of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was an 80-year member of the American Legion Post #197, served on the WaKeeney Coop Board of Directors, and was a WaKeeney Township Trustee. He enjoyed many years as a member of Big Creek Golf Course where he enjoyed many hours on the greens.A true outdoorsman, Frank especially loved elk hunting trips in the Colorado mountains, where he would ride horseback and camp in tents for a true backcountry experience. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, and golfing, and found great joy in being active and outdoors.Frank is survived by his children: Dennis (Lori) Mussemann of Wamego, KS, Christine (Gregory) Trogstad of WaKeeney, Sharla (David) Albers of Brownell, KS, and Julie Mussemann of Kapolei, HI; brother, Glenn (Carol) Mussemann of Carriere, MS; five grandchildren: Taylor (Melinda) Trogstad of Salina, KS, Bethany Trogstad of Prairie Village, KS, Seth (Jami) Albers of Voda, KS, Silas (Megan) Albers of Ransom, KS, and Hannah (Josh) Enslow of Hays, KS; and eleven great-grandchildren: Crew Trogstad, Nelson Murdock, Maura, Thaddeous and Lennox Albers; Zaddok, Everly, and Ensley Albers; Bryson, Hattie, and Joelle Enslow. He is remembered fondly by many special nieces, nephews, and his good friends at Brookdale.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Bessie; wife, Nathalie; infant son, Charles; infant siblings, Elsie and Dale; sisters, Margaret Papes, Agnes Stradal, and Josephine Ziegler; son-in-law, Don Holden; and infant great-grandson, Maddox Albers.Frank’s long life was one of service, strength, and quiet devotion to his family, community, and country. Nancy “Ann” Velazquez, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Salina, Kansas, on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Born on July 2, 1953, in Shelby, TN, Ann was the beloved daughter of Lawrence R. and Edith C. (Robinson) Scott.

Ann spent much of her career working in housekeeping services at hotels and motels throughout Texas, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit. She made Salina her home since 1988, building a life rooted in love, friendship, and service to others.

She was united in marriage to Roberto M. Velazquez on Sept. 4, 1984. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2022.&nbsp; Their bond was one of deep devotion and enduring partnership.

Ann is survived by: Jacquita Fain of Salina, KS, Tom Fain (Maria) of Salina, KS, Jon Velazquez (Trish) of Salina, KS, Steven Velazquez (Abby) of Culver, KS, Amanda Purdham and David Purdham, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and her dearest friends, Eric, Janet, and Mary Lou.

Ann will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her generous heart, and her unwavering love for those around her. She found joy in traveling, took comfort in helping others, and lived by the simple but profound principle of loving unconditionally.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 25, at the Culver Union Cemetery, 500 Coronado Road, Tescott, KS 67484.&nbsp; Father Eric Anderson will officiate the service.

Nancy Velazquez

Kimberly Dawn Griffis Epp was born on November 7, 1981 in Salina, KS, to Dorothy and Bob Griffis of McPherson. Kimberly was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. She attended the McPherson schools and worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide during her high school years, starting her love in caring for the elderly. She graduated McPherson High School in 2000. She continued her education at Hutchinson Junior College and completed her Masters in Social Work at Wichita State University, while working at Dillard’s in the shoe department and serving and bartending at Old Chicago.

She continued her social work career as a Licensed MSW at Medicalodges in March 2013. She started at Ascension Via Christi in February 2019, then worked at Phoenix Home Care and Hospice starting in October 2020.

After being together for over 20 years, Kimberly became engaged to the love of her life, Aaron Epp, in Hawaii on February 12, 2023. They were united in marriage on August 31, 2024. It was a beautiful day full of love, family and friends sharing the gifts of two amazing people.

Kimberly was electric. She was a big sister to many and cared about people with a peaceful, beautiful outlook on this world despite adversities. She loved going on adventures with her husband, spending time with her friends and cycling. Kimmy loved her family so much. Every moment together was cherished. She was classy with an amazing sense of humor and sparkling style. Diagnosed with colon cancer in the summer of 2021, she was a warrior, fighting cancer hard for almost four years. She advocated for and comforted her patients in her hospice social work, creating so many miracles for them at their end of life, while fighting her own health battles. She loved life, Aaron, her family, her many friends and her kitties. She stayed positive and she wanted to live. They had plans. Kimberly Dawn was called home to Heaven on June 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Survivors include her loving husband Aaron Epp; mother Dorothy Griffis; sister Ashley Wheeler, brother-in-law Chase and two beautiful nieces, Fiona and Rozlyn; mother and father-in-law Jan and Dan Epp; sister-in-law Meagan Butler, brother-in-law Andrew and two beautiful nieces Jade and Eliza; grandmother Frances Richard and father Bob Griffis; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by grandparents Eldred and Verena Schaefer; grandfather Dean Richard; and aunt Ruthie Lohmeyer.

Judith Ann Jameson, 81, Concordia, Kansas passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on June 18, 2025. She was the oldest child, born to Romaine and Elizabeth (Peters) LaBonte in Concordia, Kansas on August 30, 1943.

Judy attended school in Aurora, Kansas and graduated high school in 1961.

She married James Lanoue, Jr and this union brought two children, Sheri and Brent. They later divorced.

Judy worked in the office at Boogaarts and at Pawnee Mental Health Center. She raised and boarded dogs for a time. She also worked as a bartender at the American Legion from1985 until recently.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 76. She enjoyed working and her pets. She was a tremendous animal lover. She had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. Most of all, she was an excellent mother.

Judy will be missed by her children, Sheri Krause (Tony) of Concordia, KS and Brent Lanoue (Karen) of Concordia, KS; her grandchildren, Austin Fall, Alex Fall, Kira Krause, Taylor Walker (Kendall), and Paige Lanoue; five great grandchildren; brothers Mike LaBonte (Karen), and Jerry LaBonte; five nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Terry LaBonte, and a brother Jim LaBonte and his wife Sherilyn.

Judith Ann Jameson

Daniel Gordon Tarum was born on December 18, 1957, to Melvin and Eunice Tarum in McPherson, KS&nbsp; He passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his home in McPherson, KS.

In his growing up years, Daniel was involved in music, playing oboe in the band and orchestra, tenor sax in the marching band, and electric bass in Jazz Ensemble.&nbsp; He also played in a band called “Ozone.”&nbsp; He attended and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He achieved the Rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1976, then attended Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; He continued to play in the jazz ensemble under the direction of Bryce Luty, while achieving his Associates of Arts Degree in Electronics in 1979.&nbsp; Later, he continued his education at Wichita State University, earning a B.S in General Studies in 1985, and a Master’s in Communication in 1989.

From a very young age, he always had a fascination with and understanding of electronics.&nbsp; He enjoyed creating his own projects and taking apart electrical equipment, and sometimes putting them back together.&nbsp; He worked in broadcast engineering for KAKE TV and KSN TV, and KMUW and KHCC Radio stations.&nbsp; At one point while he was attending WSU, he was the Chief Engineer/Operator for up to 4 radio stations simultaneously.&nbsp; He transitioned to working at Farmland Industries in Hutchinson as Communications Engineer, and then Western Wireless where he mapped and designed optimal cell tower locations and systems operations.&nbsp; Over the years, he worked as a communications engineer for Electronic Sales and Service in Wichita, and also had his own company, Digisound, providing sound equipment and engineering for concerts and events.

He was a life-long learner – he obtained his pilot’s license, he was a ham radio operator, he tutored high school students in math and physics, he would listen to radio programs and podcasts and watch documentaries and have 1-2 books he was reading.&nbsp; He loved traveling to the mountains of Colorado with friends.&nbsp; He enjoyed target shooting.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed his 2 special dogs, Tyrone and Coco.&nbsp; He treasured time with family, making trips out to Iola, KS, to be with his sister Julie’s family, and with helping care for his nephews and niece in Wichita.

Dan had lived in Wichita from 1979 – 2015, when he moved back to McPherson to help care first for his mom as she battled Alzheimer’s, and then for his dad as he battled lung issues and declining health.&nbsp; Dan found his church home with many family and friends at New Gottland Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He would frequently speak of Bible Studies, sermons, going out to lunch, having help from friends, and being a part of a welcoming community.

Dan was preceded in death by grandparents Atle and Jennie (Hansen) Tarum; grandparents Frank and Evangeline (Eva Burk) Bentson; sister and brother-in-law Julie and David Tidd; parents Melvin and Eunice Tarum.&nbsp;

He is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (David) Woodruff of Wichita, KS and their children Brandon, Kristin, and Ryan; sister-in-law, Laura Tidd of Crown Point, IN; and by Julie and David’s children: Josh (Emily) Tidd and Ezekiel, Eva, and Alice of Lincoln NE, Joel (Leslie) Tidd and Micah of Bremerton, WA, Jason (Kaitlyn) Alatidd of Topeka, KS, Jonathan (Ellen) Tidd and Charlotte of Manhattan, KS, Jennifer Tidd of Shawnee, KS, Jessica (RJ) Stovall of Emporia KS; and numerous cousins.

Daniel Gordon Tarum

Edward Leroy Steinle, 93, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Born in Bunker Hill, Kansas, on August 16, 1931, Edward was the son of Lydia Waymaster Steinle and David G. Steinle.

On October 24, 1954, Edward married the love of his life, Florene Casper Steinle. Together, they built a life rooted in love, and family.Edward was a man who never sat still for long. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years and later dedicated his career to numerous jobs, always keeping busy and lending a helping hand.

Edward was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a man of deep faith and quiet strength. He found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing, gardening, and cutting wood for the fireplace. 

He was a devoted father, a caring brother, and a steadfast friend.He is survived by his wife, Florene; three sons: Edward Steinle, Jr. (Judy) of Salina, Kansas; David Steinle (Roxane) of Montana; and Troy Steinle of Derby, Kansas. He is also survived by his sister, Wilma Panzer of Lincoln, Kansas; grandchildren Jacob Steinle, Samuel Steinle, Josh Steinle, and Barbara German; and one great-grandchild, Aiden Steinle.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Steinle; and his sister, Edith Aherns.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Bavaria City Cemetery in Bavaria, Kansas, with Pastor Winterstein officiating.

The family requests that donations be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Edward Leroy Steinle

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gene Dudley Priem, a loving father, and grandfather, who passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at the age of 85.

Gene was born on a visit to Dayton, Washington, to Herbert and Melinda Priem. Gene was a lifetime resident of Abilene, Kansas. After graduating high school in 1958, he joined the Carpenters Union and went to work at Fort Riley. He later started his own construction business and built many houses in the Abilene/Solomon area.

Gene leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, hard work, humor, and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Gina Priem Millard, son-in-law, Alexander Shawn Millard, and his grandchildren, Rachel Priem Millard and Samuel Priem Millard. Gene was preceded in peace by his daughter, Kimberly Bryant; brother, William (Bill) Priem; sisters, Daisy Morris, Joyce Weber, Linda Baley, Elsie Hayden, Betty Rock, and Anna Skelly.

A memorial service will be 10:00 am Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Danner Funeral Home. His final resting place will in the Abilene Cemetery. The family plans to keep the 4-plex in his honor.

Mitchell Scott Saunders, 71, Topeka, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Mitch was born on May 10, 1954, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Keith “Pete” and Patricia “Pat” Beck Saunders. He graduated from Minneapolis High School in Minneapolis, Kansas with the Class of 1973 and attended Sterling College and Kansas State University. Mitch married Lynne Stout on July 23, 1977, in Burlingame, Kansas. He worked in sales for Ray Andersen in the overhead doors department.

Mitch loved Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park and would often get up very early to go Moose spotting. He enjoyed sports of all kinds but had a passion for softball and he could run.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Lynne; children, Nick and Brock Saunders; siblings, Monte Saunders (Marie) and Shelly Vishnefske (John); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mike Saunders, and nephew, Tyler Vishnefske.

Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Friday, June 27, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

Celebration of Mitch’s Life will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Wells Community Center, 205 Main Street, Wells, KS 67467.

Mitchell Scott Saunders

Terence (Terry) Joseph Henke, 72, passed away June 13, 2025, at his home in Plainville, Kansas. He was born March 31, 1953, to Joseph and Marie (Reinert) Henke in Concordia, Kansas. Terry graduated from Osborne High School in 1971, then went on to Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics.

Terry was employed at Kaser Implement for 21 years, Midway Co-op for 16 years, and Culligan for 6 years, before retiring. He spent much of his life farming and raising crops and cattle. After retirement, Terry enjoyed helping and working for other local farmers. Terry loved everything about farming, but most of all loved his two daughters, Jill and Kristin. He loved talking about his girls and their families and was especially proud to be a grandpa!

Terry loved to laugh and visit and enjoyed hearing stories of anyone who wanted to talk. Terry was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Osborne.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Henke.

Terry will be missed by his two daughters, Jill (Justin) Grohs, Lawton, ND and Kristin (Duke) Williams, Germantown, TN; grandchildren, Bennett Grohs, Jackson Williams, and Hayden Williams.

Terence Joseph Henke

Wilbur Dean Bates (94), of Lucas, departed for his eternal home on June 16th 2025, at the home of his son in Lucas Kansas. Born July 20, 1930 to Harvey and Rosie (Williams) Bates of rural Lucas, Dean was the eldest of 6 children. He received his primary education at the Shiloh country school and graduated from Lucas High School in 1948.

Dean married Helen Lee Prester on Dec. 6 1955 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. 4 children were born to this union. He made his home and raised his family in the Lucas community, first as a farmer/stockman, and later as a general manager for two area grain elevators: Lucas Grain, Lucas and Farmers Elevator, Sylvan Grove. Dean also worked as the fertilizer manager for the Central Kansas Mill and Elevator in Wilson.

Dean proudly served in the US Navy from 1950-1954, receiving a Purple Heart after sustaining injuries during his deployment on the Ernest G Small. He was also awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Metal and the National Defense Service Medal.

A member of the Blue Hill Lodge # 198 (Lucas), American Legion Post 267 (Lucas), ISIS/Shrine (Russell), Dean also served on the Lucas City Council and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. Later he attended the Lucas Community Church, Lucas. Dean was an avid square dancer and was devoted to his family and his community. He enjoyed woodworking in his garage and tending his rhubarb patch, his numerous flower beds, and his roses. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He treasured the time he spent with them and he was affectionally known to them as “Pops”.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years, infant son, Steven, daughter, Beth Wilson, granddaughter, Katherine Bates, sisters; Bernita May and Carolyn Bates, Brother-in-Laws Gene Seirer and Charles May.

Those left to mourn his passing include sons: Alan (Judy) Bates, Kensington, Jerry (Jennifer) Bates, Lucas, son-in-law Bob Wilson, Lucas, Grandchildren: Christopher (Allison) Bates, Mansfield, Ohio, Amanda Varner, Olathe, Krystal (Jeremy) Rothe, Phillipsburg, Jerra Bates, Chase, Amy (Daniel) Hernandez, Salina, Bill (Lucy) Patton, Chase, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, Brother: Melvin (Shirley) Bates, Lincoln, Nebraska, Sisters: Marilyn Seirer, Lucas, and Sandra (Jack) Gates, Topeka, many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Wilbur Dean Bates will be held on Saturday June 28, 2025 at 11 am at the Lucas Community Church, Lucas. Interment will follow at the Delhi Cemetery, rural Lucas.

Wilbur Dean Bates

Timothy D. Munson, 69, of New Braunfels, TX, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his home.

He was born May 4,1956 in Salina, KS, the son of Roland and June (Hederstedt) Munson. He graduated from Salina South High School. He worked for Western Auto, Wilson's Antiques, Hough Piano &amp; Organ, and Munson Construction. Tim was a talented artist and enjoyed playing his guitars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ben Munson. He is survived by his brother Daniel Munson, sister Andrea (Munson) Pahl,  nephew Danny Munson (Liz Walker), and numerous cousins and friends. 

Timothy was cremated and no service is planned.

Norma Jean Andrews, 94, died at home on Monday, June 16, 2025, surrounded by her children and their spouses.

Norma Jean was born on April 15, 1931, in Ellsworth County. She was a terrific flower gardener who worked at Salina County Club for many years keeping flowers looking beautiful. At home, her flower specialty was zinnias, and she always planted many huge beds of zinnias to share and enjoy. She definitely had a green thumb when it came to flowers. She also loved her birds and fed them with many feeders throughout the year.

Norma Jean and her husband, Tom enjoyed dancing with the Jolly Mixers for many years and attended senior dinners at Gypsum.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Tom, parents Earl and Julie Phelps, brothers John and Alfred and sisters Neva, Janice, and Joyce, and two grandsons, Shea and Brian.

Norma Jean is survived by her children Julie (Jim) Jones of Spring Hill, Marvin (Lynell) Andrews of Calhan, Colorado, and Gary (Sally) Andrews of Hillsboro, grandchildren Autum (Tony) Benedict, Carly Kirkpatrick, Jaron (Jolene) Andrews, Gina (John) Bergin, Lora Andrews and Carter Ellis, and great grandchildren Jake, Tyler, Virgil, Ione, Iro, Andy and Josh, and one sister, Evelyn Morrical.&nbsp; She is also survived by her special constant companion, Zoie.

Services for Norma Jean will be held on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th Street, Salina.&nbsp;A visitation will be held on Monday evening, June 23rd, from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice.

Norma Jean Andrews

Eleanor June Esau, 85, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home.

She was born June 12, 1940, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Herman F. and Ella (Hamm) Decker. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1958.&nbsp; On April 26, 1959, Eleanor was united in marriage to Maynard Neal Esau in McPherson. This union was blessed with a daughter, Christina. Maynard preceded Eleanor in death on August 31, 2001.&nbsp;

Eleanor was retired from Great Plains Federal Credit Union where she worked as a teller.

Survivors include her daughter, Christina Whitmer of McPherson, KS; two granddaughters, Jordan Whitmer (Victor Valdez) and Logan Whitmer, all of McPherson, KS; nieces &amp; nephews, Rhonda Miller (Scott), Jim Gordon, Nancy Foss, Dr. Tony Hapgood, and Bobby Hapgood; and close friends, Dorothy Otte, Sally Puchosic, Mary Ann Musselwhite, and Ray Gibbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Keran Pattengill.

Maynard preceded Eleanor in death on August 31, 2001.&nbsp;Eleanor was retired from Great Plains Federal Credit Union where she worked as a teller.Survivors include her daughter, Christina Whitmer of McPherson, KS; two granddaughters, Jordan Whitmer (Victor Valdez) and Logan Whitmer, all of McPherson, KS; nieces &amp; nephews, Rhonda Miller (Scott), Jim Gordon, Nancy Foss, Dr. Tony Hapgood, and Bobby Hapgood; and close friends, Dorothy Otte, Sally Puchosic, Mary Ann Musselwhite, and Ray Gibbs.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Keran Pattengill.A private celebration of life will be held.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to the Cat House in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.Personal condolences may be sent to the family at&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.stockhamfamily.com/">www.stockhamfamily.com</a>.
