Mary Patricia “Trisha” Crouse, 95, of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with family by her side at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;

She was born June 13, 1930, the daughter of Walter Martin and Jennie Elizabeth (Myers) Nelson.&nbsp; Trisha graduated from Galva High School.&nbsp; On November 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to William K. “Bill” Crouse.&nbsp; Bill preceded her in death on February 8, 2007.

Trisha worked at Farmers State Bank as a teller.

Survivors include two sons, Gary (Jan) Crouse of Galva, KS and Jon (Becky) Crouse of Galva, KS; four grandchildren, Toby (Kori) Crouse, Tami (Tyler) Walker, Amy (Jon) Voeltz, and Andi (Matt) Love; and seven great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three siblings.

Per Trisha’s request, no services will be held.

It’s&nbsp;with&nbsp;a&nbsp;heavy heart and many cherished memories,&nbsp;that&nbsp;we announce the passing of our&nbsp;dear&nbsp;mother, Verna L. French, a&nbsp;beloved&nbsp;mother,&nbsp;grandmother,&nbsp;great-grandmother,&nbsp;daughter,&nbsp;and&nbsp;sister.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the age of 94, she&nbsp;left this world on&nbsp;October 2, 2025, to live in her heavenly&nbsp;home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Verna was born to Frank&nbsp;J.&nbsp;and Mabel&nbsp;F.&nbsp;(Shipman) Isenbart on October 11,1930,&nbsp;in&nbsp;Belle Plaine, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verna attended&nbsp;the&nbsp;Mulvane&nbsp;schools&nbsp;and was&nbsp;baptized&nbsp;at Mulvane United Methodist Church.&nbsp;Verna&nbsp;married Mason&nbsp;D.&nbsp;French on November 11, 1946. This union was blessed&nbsp;with&nbsp;five&nbsp;children,&nbsp;Thomas, Gerald, Deborah,&nbsp;Kelly,&nbsp;and Lisa.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mason and Verna owned&nbsp;French’s Dental Lab and worked together&nbsp;for over 30 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verna was also employed by Sterling Drug/Sanofi&nbsp;Drug for 18 years.&nbsp;Mason passed away on November 4, 2000.

Verna’s incredible sense of humor could light the darkest of&nbsp;days,&nbsp;and her infectious laughter was a reminder to all of us that life is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest.&nbsp;&nbsp;She had the ability to find humor in&nbsp;most any situation&nbsp;and turned&nbsp;ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Verna’s love for music was part of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;Whether&nbsp;she was singing along to her favorite songs while cleaning&nbsp;house&nbsp;or dancing the night away, music brought her joy and relaxation.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Verna’s&nbsp;love for dancing brought her best friend and significant other,&nbsp;James&nbsp;Leewright, into her life. During their time together,&nbsp;Verna and Jim enjoyed&nbsp;dancing, concerts,&nbsp;eating out,&nbsp;&nbsp;traveling&nbsp;on bus tours,&nbsp;and many&nbsp;rodeos, including the Cheyenne Rodeo.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim passed&nbsp;away&nbsp;December&nbsp;11,&nbsp;2023.

Verna said above all the things she&nbsp;accomplished&nbsp;in her life,&nbsp;she&nbsp;was proudest raising her five children and her role&nbsp;of&nbsp;grandmother and great-grandmother, “GG”.&nbsp; Verna&nbsp;touched the&nbsp;lives of countless family and friends, leaving all with love and laughter to everyone she encountered.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her memory will forever be an inspiration to us all to find&nbsp;joy in everything you are faced with and live life to the fullest and laugh and find humor in all situations.&nbsp;&nbsp;She’d state,&nbsp;“If you have a chance to&nbsp;GO,&nbsp;then, GO&nbsp;and be with family and friends&nbsp;and&nbsp;have a good time”.&nbsp; As we move forward in the days to come,&nbsp;let us celebrate the&nbsp;legacy she left to all of us,&nbsp;to&nbsp;love&nbsp;each other,&nbsp;and&nbsp;share in the laughter.&nbsp;

Verna said “have fun in life, I did.”

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday, November, 23, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 24, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Conard officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Dora Lee Gray, age 82, of Salina, KS passed away in the comforts of her home surrounded by her loved ones on October 7th, 2025. She was born November 24th, 1942 in Flora, Mississippi.&nbsp;

Dora was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, hard work and unwavering faith in God. Dora was an avid member of Peter Rock Ministries. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her.&nbsp;

Larry W. Jones, age 79, Clyde, Kansas, passed away at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;He was born on January 6, 1946, in Beloit, Kansas to Marshall and Veda (Bowles) Jones.

He graduated from Concordia High School in 1964.&nbsp;&nbsp;Larry served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968.&nbsp;He was honorably discharged.

He married Nancy Rae Odette on February 13, 1971, in Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;She preceded Larry in death on September 20, 2010.

Larry worked as a plant manager for Boettcher Enterprise of Beloit, Kansas for 25+ years at the Ames, Kansas location.

Larry was the “Voice of the Clifton-Clyde Eagles” for 38 years and was honored with the dedication of the press box in his name on Friday, September 26, 2025, at this year’s homecoming celebration. The press box will forever be known as the Larry Jones Press Box.&nbsp;He also was the voice of many Clyde Watermelon Festival parades and would finish out his day announcing the Clyde Demolition Derby. In 2021 the derby arena was named the Larry Jones Circle of Destruction. He also announced many slows pitch softball and baseball games at the Clyde Ball Field.

He was a member of the local V.F.W. Post #7515 of Clyde. Larry served as Quartermaster for V.F.W. Post #7515 and helped lead the V.F.W. Honor Guard Team where he would proudly present the folded American flag to the family of many fellow veterans.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Robyn) Jones, a granddaughter, Hayley Jones, his brother, Jerry (Donette) Jones, brother-in-law, Randy Odette, sister-in-law, Jeanette Jones, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jones, parents, Marshall and Veda, two brothers, Lawrence and Gerald Jones, father &amp; mother-in-law, Ray &amp; Mabel Odette, brother-in-law, Marc Sklenicka.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating.&nbsp;The V.F.W. Post #7515 and the United States Marine Corp. will conduct military honors. A “Celebration of Life” will be held immediately following the graveside service at V.F.W. Post #7515.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 pm all at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde.

Eleanor Mary Ward (Hahn),&nbsp;90, of Salina, passed away peacefully at the family farm on September 20th, surrounded by her loved ones. Her deep sense of strength and determination was rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ, guiding her through every season of life. She lived by the words of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” a verse that served as her lifelong motto and source of encouragement.

She grew up in Salina, meeting Jim Ward in Jr. High. The two became High School sweethearts and married shortly after graduation. Together, they built a family she was deeply proud of, raising five children and later welcoming eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She lived with purpose and independence, never backing away from hard work or challenges. She will be remembered for her resilience, devotion, and the steady example she set for her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Ward, of Salina; her children, Scott Ward (Sherry), Jeff Ward (Rhonda), Brian Ward (Gayle), Judy Ward (Robert Wittman), and Jennifer Zink (Lynn); as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Evan Ward (Jeff Ward), her brother John Hahn and her son-in-law, Robert Wittman (Judy Ward), along with other loved ones who went before her.

Her family and friends take comfort in knowing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior, and that her legacy of faith and strength will live on in everyone whose life she touched.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Salina Rescue Mission, Eleanor’s favorite charity.

Per Eleanor’s wishes, there will be no public service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. A Mass intention will be said in her honor on November 5th, at 12:10 p.m., at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N 9th St,&nbsp;Salina.

With profound sorrow and broken hearts, we share that Rita Marie Zook, 67, of Colorado Springs, CO, was called home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025. She entered Heaven peacefully, surrounded by her family and love.&nbsp;

Rita was born on September 29, 1957, in Dawson, Georgia, to Jim and Virginia Martin. She moved shortly after to Independence, Iowa where she spent her formative years but always retained a bit of her Southern girl charm. Rita later moved to Salina, Kansas where she graduated from Salina High South in 1975. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Dan Zook, who had just graduated from KU law school. They married at the First Christian Church in Salina and loved each other for 48 cherished years. Rita was the most beautiful, loving, and wonderful wife a husband could hope for.&nbsp;

Rita studied at The University of Kansas and Marymount College and went on to serve 29 years in the Dean’s office at Colorado College, where her humor, warmth, and wisdom made her a trusted friend to both students and faculty. She became a beloved presence on campus, known for her kindness and her ever-ready smile.

During her time at CC, Rita became an enthusiastic hockey fan and loved taking her two daughters to games. She was also a devoted supporter of KU athletics, a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, and maintained an impressive knowledge of Formula 1. Rita also found joy in gardening, swimming with her children, playing golf, and giving her dogs way too many treats. She was an excellent cook and cherished creating those simple, happy times with her family.

Two of the most beautiful moments in Rita’s life were when her two daughters, Jamie and Forre were born. From that moment on, they became her purpose, her pride, and her greatest joy. Rita’s face lit up whenever she spoke about them, her love shining through every word. She was not only a devoted mother, but the very definition of what it means to be the best mom - steadfast in her support, tireless in her encouragement, and endlessly proud of every step they took. Rita never missed a moment. She especially cherished following their golf journeys, traveling near and far so she and Dan could be there, cheering them on with unconditional love. To her, being their mother was the greatest gift of her life.&nbsp;

Rita was a very caring and selfless person. She had a smile that would warm up a room and the most infectious laugh. Everyone who knew her said she would brighten their day. Rita lived with a quiet strength and steadfast belief in God’s love, which guided how she cared for others and faced each day. She loved her family so much and we will all miss her forever.&nbsp;

We are so fortunate and blessed to have known her!

Rita is survived by her husband, Dan Zook, her daughters Jamie and Forre, and Forre’s husband Hunter Berge, along with the whole Zook family.

Patricia Ann Mock, 84, of Salina, KS, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025. She was born January 16, 1941, in Tampa, FL, to Ludden and Essie (Purcell) Dreggors.

Pat was united in marriage to Edward Dean Mock on September 29, 1984, in Ft. Stewart, GA. Ed recently preceded her in death on September 20th.

Prior to her retirement, Pat worked for many years as a CNA and Medical Aid at Windsor Estates in Salina. Pat loved her gardening, and she loved all the kitties she was blessed to own over the years and regarded them like family. Mom will be missed by all who loved her!

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Beining (David), Tamera Kruse (Steve), Holli Denton (Richard), and Sherril O’Connell Antas (Keith); son, Greylyn Gilson (Vikki); sister, Joy Lewis; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Ed; and son, James O’Connell.

A graveside committal service for both Pat and Ed will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Ft. Riley/Manhattan, KS.

Margaret Genevieve (Margene) Clark, was born June 27, 1925, in Kansas City, Missouri, and died October 7, 2025, in Salina, Kansas at 100 years of age.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS, where friends may call. A rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Mass will be said at 10:00 am. at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina KS.&nbsp; Burial will be at 1:30 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, 9155 Elk Creek Road, Manhattan, KS.

Margene raised eight children. She managed this while Harris continued his Navy service and traveled for his airplane sales job. She enjoyed sewing and made many clothes for her children. She attended innumerable sporting events, concerts and performances. She enjoyed her large family and was happiest when the house was full and loud. Ironically, Margene's voice was not loud, and you had to lean in to hear her soft voice. She ran a tight ship at home and her children learned valuable life skills from her efforts. Margene made sure that experiences like camping, card and board games and travel were part of her family's life. She listened and helped her children even into adulthood willing to be a sounding board. They always felt better for having spent time with her. Her wonderful smile and quick wit concerning all aspects of her children's presentation – shoe choices, hair styles, and attire were interactions she continued to the end; she was very observant.

Her early life was spent mostly in Manhattan, Kansas with lots of family. She reminisced often about roller skating with her older sister down Vattier Street from Anderson Hall on KSU campus, and walking to Monsignor Lucky school. As adults, she and her two sisters would plan trips to restaurants throughout Kansas to try out the cinnamon rolls and onion rings.

She attended Marymount College majoring in Education. She worked at the Salina Clinic and was the office manager for the medical office, Harris, Hodges and Marshall in Salina.

Margene will be remembered as a kind, gracious woman who gave tirelessly to serve others. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and had a strong faith life. She led the rosary, was a Eucharistic minister serving Communion to homebound parishioners, helping with funeral services, folding bulletins, cleaning the church, ironing altar linens and much more. She often attended daily Mass and when she couldn’t attend in person any longer, she participated virtually. A highlight of her life would certainly have been her trips with her sister Mary and the church to Lourdes, Rome, and Medjugorje.

In 2007, Harris and Margene Clark were granted the Kansas Bankers Association Award for Soil Conservation for their pasture management efforts. In addition to being an amazing mom, she was also a farmhand fixing fence alongside dad at Windy Hill, and when dad wanted to take off in his prized Bonanza, she was happy to be his faithful navigator.

Margene married Harris K. Clark on December 26, 1946. Harris preceded her in death in December of 2015. They were together for nearly 70 years. Margene is survived by her children: Theresa (Maure) Weigel, Brookville, KS, Ann M. Clark, Denver, CO, Timothy J. (Lorna) Clark, Alta Vista, KS, Kathy (Jerry) Finan, Salina, KS, Shawna (Gene) Millentree, Kansas City, MO, Julie M. Clark (David Bosley), Wheat Ridge, CO. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harris Kendall Clark; sons, Richard Patrick Clark (1973), and Kendall Harris Clark (2021); parents, Bernard Sebastian Farrell and Marie Sarah Glenn Farrell; siblings, B. Glenn Farrell, Mary Arnold, Beverly Weaver, and James T. Farrell and three grandchildren, Genna Millentree (1993), Spencer Clark (2017), and Kelli Millentree (2020).

Margaret Genevieve (Margene) Clark

Robert Henry Lawson, affectionately known to friends and family as Bob, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus our Loving Savior on Thursday July 24, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of his home in Avondale Estates, Georgia. Bob was born on October 4, 1931 on the Fred Cross Ranch along the Smoky Hill River south of Wilson Kansas. From 1932 to 1935, Bob and his parents lived on the Old Lawson Ranch, homesteaded from the Union Pacific Railway in 1878 by his great grandfather Sidney Robert Lawson and grandfather Harry Hunt Lawson who was 9 years old at the time when the extended Lawson family came to Kansas from Mayville New York. Bob’s life was a testament to the resilience and hard work that defined his generation. After digging out from the dirt storms in 1934, the grasshoppers invaded and ate most of the crops in 1936. These events shaped Bob’s character and instilled in him the virtues of courage and perseverance. After several relocations within Kansas, Bob’s formative years in Hunter, Lucas, Luray, and finally Sylvan Grove, culminated in his graduation from Sylvan Grove High School in 1949.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 3, 1951 and served with distinction as a Radioman Third Class on the USS Hopewell DD-681 during the Korean War. While Bob was on the USS Hopewell, it earned 4 bronze service engagement stars on her Korean Service Ribbon and Bob was entitled to wear the National Defense, the United Nations, the China, and the Korean service Ribbons. His honorable discharge on November 2, 1954 marked the end of his active military service but his commitment to his fellow servicemen never waned. Later in life, Bob was instrumental in organizing the biannual reunions for his fellow USS Hopewell shipmates bringing together comrades to honor their shared history and sacrifices.

Following his military service, Bob utilized the GI Bill to pursue higher education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. His career began in earnest with the FDIC as a bank examiner, a role that would take him to Dodge City, Kansas. It was there that Bob met his beloved Sue Ann Sipes, who shared a home with his second cousin Clara Deiter. Sue and Clara were dedicated school teachers, and it wasn’t long before Bob and Sue’s lives became intertwined. Their loving union began on August 27, 1961 and lasted for over 6 decades until Sue Ann passed away in June of 2022. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love. Bob’s career took him from the FDIC to the First National Bank and Trust Company in Oklahoma City to the Kansas State Bank in Wichita, Kansas, and ultimately to the Idabel National Bank in Idabel, Oklahoma where he served as Vice President and Auditor until his retirement in 1995.

A man of faith, Bob actively served in the First Presbyterian Church in Idabel, Oklahoma serving as a Deacon and later as an Elder. His commitment to service extended into multiple areas of community life, including roles as Director of the Idabel Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, board member of the United Way, and an honored member of the NeTseO Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he received the Silver Beaver and Bronze Bear Awards. Bob belonged to the American Legion Post 8 in Idabel and also held life memberships with Idabel’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4777, The American Legion Post 359 in Sylvan Grove, Kansas and the Idabel Lion’s Club where he was a Past President and served as Treasurer for 20 years. He is a Lifetime Member of the USS Hopewell Association.

In retirement, Bob and Sue embraced travel, exploring destinations like Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, England, Italy, Greece and more. Bob enjoyed gardening, delving into family genealogy, and was a fan of classic Westerns, especially “Gunsmoke”.

After moving to Avondale Estates, Georgia in 2014, Bob continued to embody the spirit of community by joining the Columbia Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and becoming a member of The American Legion Post 66.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Henry and Lillian Rebecca (Williams) Lawson, and his wife Sue Ann (Sipes) Lawson. His memory is cherished by his children Rebecca Sue of the home, Robert Sipes Lawson and wife Laura of Ellenwood, Georgia, his sister Dulcie June Kulich and his niece Sheryl Potts and husband Joe all of Lawrence, Kansas and nephew Steve Kulich and wife Anne and the extended family and friends who were blessed to know him.

A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Georgia with Rev.Tom Hagood officiating.  </figure>Robert Henry Lawson, affectionately known to friends and family as Bob, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus our Loving Savior on Thursday July 24, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of his home in Avondale Estates, Georgia. Bob was born on October 4, 1931 on the Fred Cross Ranch along the Smoky Hill River south of Wilson Kansas. From 1932 to 1935, Bob and his parents lived on the Old Lawson Ranch, homesteaded from the Union Pacific Railway in 1878 by his great grandfather Sidney Robert Lawson and grandfather Harry Hunt Lawson who was 9 years old at the time when the extended Lawson family came to Kansas from Mayville New York. Bob’s life was a testament to the resilience and hard work that defined his generation. After digging out from the dirt storms in 1934, the grasshoppers invaded and ate most of the crops in 1936. These events shaped Bob’s character and instilled in him the virtues of courage and perseverance. After several relocations within Kansas, Bob’s formative years in Hunter, Lucas, Luray, and finally Sylvan Grove, culminated in his graduation from Sylvan Grove High School in 1949.Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 3, 1951 and served with distinction as a Radioman Third Class on the USS Hopewell DD-681 during the Korean War. While Bob was on the USS Hopewell, it earned 4 bronze service engagement stars on her Korean Service Ribbon and Bob was entitled to wear the National Defense, the United Nations, the China, and the Korean service Ribbons. His honorable discharge on November 2, 1954 marked the end of his active military service but his commitment to his fellow servicemen never waned. Later in life, Bob was instrumental in organizing the biannual reunions for his fellow USS Hopewell shipmates bringing together comrades to honor their shared history and sacrifices.Following his military service, Bob utilized the GI Bill to pursue higher education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. His career began in earnest with the FDIC as a bank examiner, a role that would take him to Dodge City, Kansas. It was there that Bob met his beloved Sue Ann Sipes, who shared a home with his second cousin Clara Deiter. Sue and Clara were dedicated school teachers, and it wasn’t long before Bob and Sue’s lives became intertwined. Their loving union began on August 27, 1961 and lasted for over 6 decades until Sue Ann passed away in June of 2022. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love. Bob’s career took him from the FDIC to the First National Bank and Trust Company in Oklahoma City to the Kansas State Bank in Wichita, Kansas, and ultimately to the Idabel National Bank in Idabel, Oklahoma where he served as Vice President and Auditor until his retirement in 1995.A man of faith, Bob actively served in the First Presbyterian Church in Idabel, Oklahoma serving as a Deacon and later as an Elder. Dawnel F. Peterson, age 59, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Hilltop Lodge Health and Rehabilitation in Beloit, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on May 20, 1966, in Concordia, Kansas to Sharon (Hubert) Rhea of Concordia, Kansas and Warren Christenson of Collinsville, Oklahoma.

Jeanie is preceded in death &nbsp;by her daughter Kimberly Kay Smith, her husband Thomas Givens, her brothers Forrest “Joe” Paddock, Robert Paddock, Kermit “John” Paddock, sister Kay Johnson (Paddock), great grandchild Theodore Noud, mother Dorothy Paddock (Smith) and father Kenneth Charles Paddock.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter Tonja Renee Bisnette (John), Sister Colleen Tarman (Dave) of Tribune, KS. Grandchildren Brandon Smith, Kayla Nelson (Faron), Phillip, Joseph (Marisa), &amp; Patricia Hicks. Great grandchildren Mason &amp; Konnar Hicks, Eliana &amp; Emilia Hicks, Tilian Noud, Isla &amp; Callahan Nelson as well many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.&nbsp;

Jeanie was born and raised on a farm in Oberlin, KS, she grew up an honest farm kid helping her father Kenneth in the Paddock Seed House family business after he got out of the Navy, graduated 1961 from Decatur County High School, married Boyd Smith and started a family in Lebanon Kansas, birthed her two daughters in Smith Center and followed her dreams of living in beautiful California, moving her family in 1965. There she worked her way to Journeyman Maintainer in the Coil Department at Continental Can Company Steel Mill where she fought for workers’ rights being the only woman in her role, as well as the only woman Union Steward in the United Steelworkers of America Union at the time. She gave speeches for women’s rights in San Francisco, workers’ rights at the California Capitol of Sacramento, and always rooted for the little guy. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Los Medanos Community College in the 90s.&nbsp;

Jeanie moved back to Kansas in 1999 to retire and care for the rest of the family, where she bought a humble house and property to call home. She was selfless in her sacrifice for others, and into her later years continued to sacrifice when her body couldn’t, by regularly donating to many different charities. Her endless and unconditional love made her the most adored person wherever she went, and her zest for life made her the light of the party anywhere her smile sparkled. Heaven got a little brighter, Jeanie you will be dearly missed.

Jeannine (Jeanie) June Paddock

Winslow Raymond Janda Jr., of Wilson, Kansas, passed away on October 4, 2025 at Pinnacle Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salina, Kansas. He was born in Noble Township, Ellsworth County Kansas to Wenslow and Ruby (Zelenka) Janda on July 14, 1937 on the family farm.

He attended Pleasant Hill country school through 8th grade and graduated from Wilson High School in 1955 where he had his first welding training through the Vocational Agriculture program at the school. He was a charter member of the Wilson FFA chapter.

After graduating, he served his country in the US Army National Guard with six months active training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He then was sent to special training in Army Supply at Fort Chaffee, AR. He remained a member of the Army National Guard Reserves at the Ellsworth National Guard facility for eight years.

In 1958 he was employed by Macek and Son Implement, Wilson’s John Deere dealer, as a mechanic and parts manager. In 1967 he purchased the OK Repair Shop in Wilson. He attended Salina Area Vo Tech welding and metal fabrication and opened his business as Janda Repair Service. His expertise with metals is well known. He constructed the Excelsior Lutheran Lighted Cross and many other iron works located in the area in addition to repairing and building for the agriculture community.

On February 27, 1960 Winslow married Lucille Popp and to this union two children were born, Kenneth Alan and Audrey Lynne.

Winslow served in several capacities for the City of Wilson. He was the City Police Judge, Justice of the Peace, City Councilman and a member of the Wilson Economic Development Corporation, Wilson Chamber of Commerce, Wilson Lions Club. He was also a 37-year member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department and reserve firemen for many years. For several years, he helped with the Wilson After Harvest Czech Festival, organizing the tractor pull and helping with the threshing demonstrations and the demolition derby. He is a member of Wilson’s American Legion Post #262. He is a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he also served on the church council. Winslow enjoyed bowling, fishing, travelling, and playing cards with friends and family.

Winslow is survived by his wife, Lucille (Popp) Janda, of Wilson, KS; son, Kenneth (Janice) Norman OK; daughter, Audrey Innes, Loveland CO; grandson, Nathan (Kayli) Janda, Blanchard, OK.

Lucille W. Batson, affectionately known as “Granny” by her family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital at the age of 94. A dedicated professional, Lucille served as an accounting supervisor at McPherson Bank &amp; Trust for many years. Even after her retirement, her strong work ethic and love for community led her to continue working at Peoples Bank.

She was born on October 4, 1931, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Fred C. and Cora Belle (Hoover) Flory.&nbsp; Lucille graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949 and continued her education at McPherson College and Bethany College.&nbsp; On July 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to James B. “Jim” Batson in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to his passing on April 12, 2021.&nbsp;

Lucille was a member of McPherson Church of the Brethren and the Futurama Study Club. She found joy in golfing and having sleepovers with her grandchildren. She delighted in watching birds and her favorite flowers were Zinnias and Lily of the Valley.

She is survived by three children, Cindy (Cameron) Kaufman of Buhler, KS, Janet (Mike) Barthman of Abilene, KS, and Bruce Batson of McPherson, KS; ten grandchildren, Chris (Mandy) Cheesman, Joseph (Blanca)Kaufman, Katie (Joe) Heller, Ian (Bridgette) Tinsley, Brook Batson, Nick Batson, Stefanie (Dave) Osborne, Jeremy (Ashley) Batson, Eric Batson, and Kelly Batson; and 15 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Lucille was an honorary mother and grandmother to Penny (Harold) Selzer, Erica Selzer, Patrick (Katie) Selzer, Connie, and Hoover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wayne (Susan) Batson; and siblings, Virgil Flory, Lois Hanna, Irene Williams, Belle Nelson, Mary Tate, Francis Flory, and Benjamin Flory.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, October 13, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The final resting place will be at Washington Creek Cemetery in Lawrence, KS.

Lucille W. Batson

Orville Duane "Bub" Macklin, 67, of Smith Center, passed away on October 3rd, 2025 at Smith Center Health and Rehab, where he had resided for the last 4 years. He was born on February 1st, 1958 in Smith Center, Kansas to Orville Dean and Betty Fay Willis Macklin.

Bub graduated from Smith Center High School in 1976, where he met his soul mate Sheryl Schultz. They married in Smith Center on October 11th,1980. They had 2 children, Brett Duane and Stacey Renee and one grandson, Bradyn Dean. He had long fulfilling career as a professional truck driver for 40 years before retiring in 2018. With a lifelong love of automotives, Bub found great joy in repairing cars and fixing things. He also loved to spend his free time smoking everything from meats to pies with his home smoker. He had a fiery sense of humor and found comedy in every situation even while his body was suffering from the symptoms of benign non essential tremors. He will be remembered for his vivid personality and bustling laugh.

Bub was preceded in death by his parents, Betty in 1973, Dean in 1996 and his sister, Patricia in 2003. Bub is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Schultz Macklin of Smith Center, Brett (wife Terra &amp; grandson Bradyn) Macklin of Omaha and Stacey Sears of Wichita, KS. Orville Duane "Bub" Macklin

David E. Lewis, 68, passed away peacefully September 30, 2025, at Smoky Hill Health and Rehabilitation in Salina, Kansas. He was born on November 26, 1956, to Lyle and Marie (Neihouse) Lewis.

David lived his life in Salina, KS where he spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Lewis; his mother, Marie Lewis; his brother Steven Lewis who was born asleep, his sister, Libby Wheeler, and his brother, Ron Lewis.David is survived by his sister Marilyn Snider of Salina, brother, Chuck Lewis of Salina, brother, John Lewis of Salina, brother Bill Lewis of Arizona, and sister, Kathy Lewis of Salina. He is lovingly remembered by his children: daughter, Jamie Parrett and her husband Robert of Kansas City; son Chad Lewis and his significant other Michelle of Salina; and daughter Shea Lewis of Pleasant Hill. David was a proud grandfather to Addy Lewis, Bethany Lewis, Brayden White, and Cole Parrett, who brought great joy and light to his life.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, love for his family, and the deep roots he maintained in the Salina community.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time, allowing friends and loved ones to gather and honor his memory.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Cynthia McGreevy, 69, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by her husband and children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Cynthia’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family and spending time with those she loved most.

Born to Donald and Vaughn Coffman (Pinnick) on November 6, 1955, Cynthia grew up surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donnie, Linda, Jeffery Coffman, and her grandson, Johnathan Turner.&nbsp;

She is survived by her loving husband, Craig McGreevy; her children, Shawna Kronmiller (Kevin Kronmiller), Lance Turner (Melissa Turner), and Dusty McGreevy (Stormie McGreevy); her cherished grandchildren, Kaden Kronmiller, Makayla Turner, Mya McGreevy, and Mason Turner; Great Grandchildren Karsen and Kaiser Kronmiller; and her sister, Sandra Coates (Ed Coates).

Cynthia’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion. She will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering love for her family, and the countless memories she created with them. Cynthia McGreevy

Charles “Buddy” Lee was born to Willie&nbsp;William&nbsp;and Stella Lee&nbsp;(Boyd) on July 28th, 1935 in McLouth, Kansas. He was the third son born, following big brothers Bill and Boyd (both deceased). His mother bringing home a "Charlie" was unheard of for brother Bill, who announced that he’d just call the baby our little "Buddy.” It stuck for life.&nbsp;The family also included two younger sisters June and Doris (both deceased). He married his high school sweetheart&nbsp;Bessie&nbsp;Daphene Buzbee (deceased) and they enjoyed 65 years together. Together they raised three children- Mike Lee (deceased), Vickie Dunafon (Doug) of Westmoreland and Valarie Stroble (Jim) of Spring Hill. Other direct family included three grandchildren- Jessica Corwin, (Salina) Jacob Corwin (deceased) and Justin Dunafon of Westmoreland. Three great grandchildren and two great greats. There are numerous adored nieces and nephews and greats from both sides of the family since Bud was one of 5 children and so was Daphene. &nbsp;

During the early days of raising his young family of three children, Kanopolis lake was a favorite haunt. We would run out during the hot summers on weeknights with Dad calling Mom at noon saying to have the kids get the boat ready, that he would be home early. We would get a sack of burgers from Griff's and head west.&nbsp; We always had a boat, a camper, bicycles and mini bikes. In the winter he made sure we had sleds, often pulling us and the neighborhood children behind his motorcycle. He played with us often with Mom joking that she had 4 kids since Bud was the biggest kid of all. We spent our weekends camping and teaching each of his children to water ski and putting the youngest child Valarie on his shoulders for a spectacular display. There was nothing Bud Lee couldn't do and do well.&nbsp;

Bud spent most of his life as a&nbsp;residential&nbsp;plumber in Salina,&nbsp;(Bud's Plumbing) but his claim to fame was his racing career. He and his brothers enjoyed racing cars and he began racing motocross at age 34, when most are retiring. He was a dedicated rider and practiced several times a week at Cycle Acres where he met many younger men and became their mentor. He helped and encouraged them along the way, taking some to a training camp&nbsp;with John Desoto (deceased)&nbsp;for him a dream come true. He was highly competitive, but believed in fair play. The motocross peer chosen Kansas state award for&nbsp;Sportsman of the year went to Buddy Lee five years running- a testament to his temperament. He was a smooth and fast rider winning many races against younger men. The motocrossers became an extended family and they often all enjoyed camping the night before a race at the tracks&nbsp;across the state and sometimes venturing out of state as well. Bud referred to them as the best of the best. After several biking injuries, he turned to racing cars and was successful at that as well.&nbsp;He was also a long-distance runner and completed two half marathons with his son Mike and daughter Vickie.&nbsp;He joined the mini-stock and dwarf car association, where he and Daphene made lifelong friends. His race car was "Betty Boop." After racing he took up Racquetball at the YMCA and had many years traveling to tournaments and was highly competitive in that sport as well making lifelong friends there as well. One of those special friends later introduced him to pickleball. Unfortunately, he was quite unstable due to the decay of his bones and he had to cut that short. He enjoyed watching his daughter Vickie and son in law as well as his nephew in law Robert play and cheered them on.&nbsp;

He leaves behind many friends, family and fans who came to his aid during his 12-year battle with cancer. It takes a village to support one another in good times and bad and he found out how well-loved and admired he was during this last journey.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 255 S. 7th St., Salina.

After racing he took up Racquetball at the YMCA and had many years traveling to tournaments and was highly competitive in that sport as well making lifelong friends there as well. One of those special friends later introduced him to pickleball. Unfortunately, he was quite unstable due to the decay of his bones and he had to cut that short. He enjoyed watching his daughter Vickie and son in law as well as his nephew in law Robert play and cheered them on.&nbsp;He leaves behind many friends, family and fans who came to his aid during his 12-year battle with cancer. Patricia Louene Smith, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on September 11, 1929, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Sherman Milton and Mable Matilda Isacson Hyde. Pat was raised in Osborne, Kansas where she graduated from Osborne High School in 1947. She attended Fort Hays State College for 2 years and received a teaching certificate. She taught kindergarten in Atwood, Lincoln, and Salina, Kansas. She attended Wesleyan University part-time while teaching kindergarten at Glennifer Hill grade school in Salina, Ks. She graduated from Kansas Wesleyan with a Bachelor's Degree in May 1957. She later received her Master’s Degree from Kansas State University. Pat spent most of her teaching career at Franklin Elementary School, Salina, Kansas, where she retired.

Pat married Fredrick James Smith on July 6, 1957, in Osborne. They lived in Manhattan, Kansas while Fred attended Kansas State University and Pat taught 1st grade at Eugene Field Elementary school. They lived in Salina for 52 years before moving to Lawrence, Kansas in 2011.&nbsp;Pat continued to live in Lawrence until recently moving to Wichita.&nbsp;

Pat was an active member of her churches. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salina, Kansas and upon moving to Lawrence she joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Lawrence, Ks.&nbsp;

While living in Salina, Fred and Pat enjoyed going to the Salina Cagerz basketball games.&nbsp;She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting. She also liked to make greeting cards for family and friends. Pat was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching the KU Jayhawks, K-State Wildcats, Kansas City Chiefs and the Butler Grizzlies.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred who passed away on April 15, 2015, and by her brother Rexford D. Hyde.&nbsp;Survivors include&nbsp;son Creighton Smith and partner Linda Malcom of Spokane, Washington;&nbsp;her daughter Lynnea Kaufman and husband Wayne of the home in Wichita; brother Robert Hyde of Osborne; nieces and nephews Olin (Cindy) Hyde, Sherri (Greg) Mick, Mike (Pam) Hyde, Debbie (Robert) Serna, Linda (Bo) French and Jeff (Chris) Hyde.&nbsp;

Pat loved and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and supporting their activities, Allen Burkart and wife Chelsea and Thomas Kaufman; along with great granddaughter Halle Burkart.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Lawrence.

Howard Steven Nelson was born in Riverhead, New York, on September 5, 1954 to Arthur and Barbara Nelson. Howard’s father worked as a dairy farmer and a dairy farm inspector; Barbara was a homemaker. The family moved several times during his childhood, and Howard learned to make friends quickly. He attended high school at Cheshire High School through his junior year and joined the Navy in 1972 where he served until 1976, earning valuable skills as well as his GED.

After leaving the Navy, Howard moved to Florida and worked many different jobs, including taxi driver, tow truck operator, and a mechanic for Volkswagen. He and his late wife ran a mobile grooming business for over 20 years. While living in Florida, Howard enjoyed all kinds of fishing and often missed his time near the water.

Howard moved to Georgia after his late wife passed away and lived in Augusta near his brother Kenneth and his wife Linda. He was living in Augusta when he met his wife, Carolyn. They were married in Statesboro Eastern Heights Baptist Church on March 25, 2012. The couple moved to Park to care for Sylvia Thomas, Carolyn’s mother. Sylvia lived with them for several years, and the two of them built a deep, loving bond. One of Howard’s proudest moments was beating Sylvia at a game of Yahtzee! They also shared a love of gardening and sewing. Carolyn and Howard created numerous quilts and wall hangings together with advice from Sylvia.

While living in Kansas, Howard drove a truck for Westwind Wood Products out of Quinter and also ran a mobile mechanic business called “Mr. Fixit.” There was rarely anything Howard could not fix, and he lived up to the name “Mr. Fixit” again and again, both with local farmers and with various household ‘fixes.’ He always credited God for giving him the special ability to mechanic and thanked Him for his successes. Howard also loved to drive, literally anything with a motor, whether that was a motorcycle, a trike, a car, pickup, the NexTech train, a semi, boat, or tractor. It did not matter as long as he could be behind the wheel. He started driving at age 5 and was very proud of his CDL class A license which he kept up to date.

Although he did not have children of his own, Howard loved children and really, people of all ages. While he was able, he attended many Wheatland High School Thunderhawk volleyball, football, and basketball games. He also enjoyed the Art Preview, the music programs, and he helped build the stage for the WHS school play. While living at the Long Term Care, Howard was a special favorite with the ‘grandfriends,’ teaching them chess and playing other games.

Most importantly, Howard loved the Lord and was eager to follow God’s will as he could understand it. He was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and grew in his faith for the rest of his life, attending church services when he could and watched on Facebook when he could no longer travel.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Barbara and his older brothers Arthur Jr., (June), David, and Kenneth (Linda). He is survived by his wife Carolyn, older sister Barbara Martinez (Ralph), younger sister Tina Brown (Keith), and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. His kind, generous heart will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie, Kansas. Visitation will take place at the funeral home earlier that day from 11:00 AM until the time of service, with family present to greet friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Inurnment will follow at the Hoxie City Cemetery. After the inurnment, refreshments will be served to family and friends at the Scout House in Hoxie. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Howard S. Stephen&nbsp;“Steve”&nbsp;Bradley LaPrad, 76, of Pratt, KS, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, KS.

Steve was born on October 11, 1948, in Frankfort, IN, the son of Fred Manard and Wilma Evelyn (Smeltzer) LaPrad. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1966 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from McPherson College in 1970. He later completed additional studies at the University of Kansas.

While at McPherson College, Steve met the love of his life, Sally Jane Gibson. They were married on February 2, 1969, in Ottawa, KS, and were blessed with two daughters, Mollie and Nancy.
