Mindi Marie Carlson 39, Salina, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at her home.

Mindi was born August 25, 1984, in Salina to Marvin and Virginia (Higle) Alderson.

She was a 2002 graduate of Minneapolis High School, and she received her master’s degree in accounting from Kansas Wesleyan University. She and Mike Carlson were united in marriage on April 29, 2006. To this union, one son, Gage, was born.

She is survived by her son, Gage Carlson; significant other, Roger Sanborn; parents, Marvin and Virginia Alderson; siblings, Jason Alderson, Lacy (Greg) Alderson, Melody (Dustin) Ringer, and Stephanie (Beau) Furrow; nieces, Marika, Savannah, Ashlynn, Hadleigh, Josie, and Baylor; and nephews, Emmett, Cooper, and Kipton.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 7 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 8 at the Delphos City Auditorium. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riley County Humane Society and be left in care of the funeral home.

Marjorie Carolyn Galloway, 87, of Bennington, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born on August 3, 1936, in Sterling, Colo., to John and Lucille (Crandall) Chandler.

Marjorie loved crocheting and knitting and was a game show enthusiast. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in a bowling league and watching her grandkids in school programs and sports. Her kids and grandkids were her full-time hobby.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Pimple; sons, Bill (Chris), Tom (Kay), and Chris (Linda) Pimple; sister, Mary Nadow (Don); 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Van Galloway; children, Jim Pimple and Diana Gibson; and brothers, John, Don, and George Chandler.

No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Saina Animal Shelter, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Jesse Eugene Widler, 65, of Enterprise, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of July 30th, 2024&nbsp;at Village Manor in Abilene, Kansas after a long battle&nbsp;with his&nbsp;health&nbsp;at Via Ascension Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

Jesse was born at Abilene Memorial Hospital in Abilene, Kansas on March 18,&nbsp;1959&nbsp;to Floyd Irvin Widler and Ursula (Debus) Haller.&nbsp;He grew-up on the family farm outside of Enterprise, Kansas and graduated from Chapman High School in the class of 1978.&nbsp;After graduating, he worked for several different co-ops and eventually started doing a trash route with his brother, George on Ft. Riley.&nbsp; He also continued to help his dad and&nbsp;brothers&nbsp;farm.&nbsp;

In 1990, Jesse met Kim Anderson&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas. Jesse adopted Kim’s son, James J Widler. In December of 1992,&nbsp;their daughter, Stephanie Marie Widler was born.&nbsp; Jesse loved being a dad and&nbsp;went above and beyond for his kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jesse worked for the road crew for Dickinson County for several years&nbsp;and went back to work on Fort Riley for years too. Eventually, Kim and him&nbsp;purchased what was the R-Bar&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas&nbsp;and ran that together until their divorce in 2008.&nbsp;

Jesse started working for the City of Enterprise doing trash route and general&nbsp;labor. He absolutely loved running the trash truck and&nbsp;enjoyed visiting with the citizens of Enterprise and feeding treats to the dogs along his route. He had to leave the City of Enterprise&nbsp;crew&nbsp;in 2019 due to the onset of health issues.&nbsp;

In August of 2019, Jesse was&nbsp;joined in marriage&nbsp;to Yolande (Allen) Widler&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas. They resided in Enterprise, Kansas together until his death.&nbsp;

Jesse ran and won&nbsp;the position for&nbsp;Mayor of Enterprise, Kansas in 2021. He absolutely loved the City of Enterprise and was happy to be able to serve the citizens of the town.&nbsp;He was also a member of the Enterprise Community Church and a regular contributor to the ASCPA.&nbsp;He will always be remembered very fondly by family and friends. He loved to visit and seemed to always be making new friends.&nbsp;Jesse loved his tractors,&nbsp;all of&nbsp;his animals,&nbsp;spending time on the farm, and making memories with his friends and family.&nbsp;He will be greatly missed by his&nbsp;beloved&nbsp;family&nbsp;and all of his friends spread&nbsp;throughout&nbsp;the country.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Yolande&nbsp;Widler,&nbsp;who resides at the homeplace,&nbsp;daughter Stephanie Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise, son James Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise,&nbsp;sister Brenda Cain (Kenny)&nbsp;of Abilene, brother Bryan (Butch) Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise, and two granddaughters, Ridley McDonald and Rylee Sester both of Enterprise, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jesse was preceded in death by both of his parents and two brothers, George Widler&nbsp;and William (Billy) Widler.&nbsp;

A Celebration&nbsp;of&nbsp;Life&nbsp;in&nbsp;honor&nbsp;of Jesse&nbsp;will be announced&nbsp;at a later date&nbsp;in the early fall for family and friends to attend.&nbsp;

Delores A. Pilcher passed away July 28, 2024, at her home in Bennington KS. Delores was the daughter of Glenn E. and Gladys (Young) Lacy. She was born July 4, 1940, outside of Miltonvale KS. Delores graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Arnold Pilcher on July 28, 1957. Together Delores and Arnie had three children Randy, Renee and RaShelle, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren,

Delores loved her family and often hosted many amazing holidays and Sunday lunches. She loved trips to Branson, country music, flowers and her pets. Her faith in God was very important to her, and her prayer was for her family to know Jesus. During the late 70’s Delores became a foster parent, during that time she made a lasting impression on many children with her unconditional love.

Grandma P. will be remembered for her smile, her compassion, selfless love, baby dolls, beanie babies her wop rolls and June bugs.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; son Randy; former husband Arnold Pilcher; and her second husband, Gene Rankin. She is survived by Renee (Bob) Boss, RaShelle (Tim) Hensley; daughter-in-law Kris Langdon; and brother Glenn Lee (Janice) Lacy. Seven grandchildren, Alison (Mitch) Swagerty, Lacy Boss, Rob (Susan) Boss, Kylee (Austin) Fick and Zach, Zeb, and Zane Hensley; and eleven great grandchildren, Kinley and Hudson Swagerty, Mathew, Gunnar, Hunter and Tucker Boss, Audrey, Sawyer and Reagan Fick, Eli and Aiden Hensley, and many nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Angie Myers for the wonderful care she gave Delores.

Robert Carl Norton, 78, of Gypsum, Kansas, passed away Tuesday July 30. He was born on September 30, 1945, in Pasadena California, to Carlyle “Corky” A. Norton and Melva V. (Wheeler) Norton.

Robert was an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed sharing stories by the campfire. The great outdoors was Robert’s playground, and the campground was his second home. His favorite outdoor activity was mowing, on his trusty lawn mower he could go anywhere while keeping the lawn neat. Whenever his lawn mower got stuck it was always someone else’s fault. Robert also loved classic cars, if there was a car show he was there. His favorite car was the model A. Robert also loved his family dearly. Spending time with his grandkids in the yard teaching them how to mow the lawn was his bread and butter.

In 1963 Robert joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. Robert was part of the crew of the USS Bagley FF 1069 where he traveled the open ocean and seeing the beauty of the world only strengthening his love for the outdoors. In Roberts time in the Navy he reached the rank of Command Maser Chief and after 23 years of dutiful service he retired. Later on Robert joined VFW and continued his service.

Survivors include sister Carolyn A. Basye; Son Tony A. Norton; Daughters Tina A. Blundred, Tracy A. (Wayne) Rohleder; Grandchildren April Norton, Caitlyn Larson, Trinity Blundred, Tristan Blundred, Madison Norton, Kaile Black, Case Davis, Brayson Young, and three great grandchildren.

Robert Carl Norton

Melinda J. Gibson, 61, of Salina, gained her angel wings on Thursday, July 18, 2024 after a courageous fight with several medical issues. She was born in Lincoln, KS on April 9, 1963 to Kent and Marilyn (Street) Gibson. 

Melinda was an Associate National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency from 1999 to 2024. Prior to this Melinda was employed at Sunflower Bank for several years. She was highly accredited in ACH and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Melinda was a 1981 South High School graduate in Salina. 

Melinda loved and was very loved by her friends and family. She enjoyed the pets of her friends, too. She frequently showed up with gifts and treats for her special fur buddies.

She is preceded in death by her father Kent Gibson and her brother Timmy Gibson and her grandparents. 

Melinda is survived by her mother, Marilyn Gibson of Mountain View, AR; brother, Jeff Gibson (Mitzi) of Wichita, KS; nephew Matt Gibson (Cassie) of Wichita; and nephew Jake Gibson (Shae) of Wichita. Her great nephew and great niece, Carter and Maddie, were very special to Melinda. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, 08/16/2024 at 2 pm at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, 2508 Belmont Blvd., Salina, KS. A social gathering will follow at the church to visit with family. Memorials may be made to Salina Animal Shelter or Belmont Boulevard Christian Church.

Kathlene “Kitty” I. Dalton, 87, of Salina, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was born April 2, 1937, in Abilene, the daughter of Joseph A. and Cordelia I. (Anderson) Mills.

Kitty was loving, talented in many ways and had a green thumb. She married the love of her life, Bruce in August of 1960. They welcomed their three children Jodi, Blake and Andy into their lives during the first 7 years of marriage. During the course of their marriage they loved and cared for each other and enjoyed their 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. After Bruce passed in June of 2018, she wrote him a letter every day and spoke of him often with such love and appreciation.

Kitty was an active member in her church, Trinity United Methodist. She organized 24-hour prayer vigils yearly and created the Prayer Shawl Ministry in the late 80’s. She knitted countless prayer shawls for members of the community for comfort in their time of need. She also had a love for the piano and was very good at it. When she and Bruce moved into the Presbyterian Manor, she would play the piano for their Sunday services until she was no longer able. In her free time, she would play for hours.

She was also an incredible baker and was known for her fresh focaccia bread that she baked every Thursday. One summer when all of the kids and grandkids were all together in Salina, they ate almost 30 loaves in one week. Every Christmas she would bake at least 8 different types of cookies. She would start preparing them months in advance and freeze them. Not until the last couple of years did she know that her two eldest granddaughters and her husband were stealing them out of the freezer as little treats.

Kitty had many accomplishments in her life and one of the biggest was becoming a certified master knitter. She spent countless hours knitting each swatch that was required for certification. She never gave up no matter how frustrated she would get. She achieved her goal and had an entire page in the newspaper to celebrate her. Kitty would knit a variety of items for her family and friends. Every Christmas she would make something for each member of the family. She also taught classes and did private lessons to help other knitters.

She truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always there to help them with anything they needed, give guidance and support and loved them all so deeply. They all were her pride and joy. She will be very missed. To the moon and back.

She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Brown and husband Craig, granddaughter Hanna Frazier, fiancé Jett Vilardell and their children Jett, Jayden and Josie Vilardell of Salina, granddaughter Brooke Frazier of Lee’s Summit, MO; two sons, Blake Dalton and his children Cole, Anderson, and Charlotte of Marshfield, MA, Andy Dalton, wife Stephanie, and their children Joseph, Jacob, Leah Kate, and Joshua of Mandeville, LA.

Cremation was chosen. Visitation without the body present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 2, at Ryan Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal, Salina, with Pastor Eric Meyer officiating.

Melbourne Gene “Mel” Percival, 100, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born in Beverly, Kan., on August 31, 1923, to Walter and Bertha (Berthelson) Percival.

Mel enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and was a WWII Veteran. He married Mary Louise Eutsler on March 25, 1950. Mel worked for many years as a tool and die inspector for Beech Aircraft and was a founding member of the Beech Gun Club. He was an avid trapshooter and loved his flowers and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou; son-in-law, David Simmons; grandchild, Tom Pilcher; brothers, Norval “Jack”, Robert “Clay”, and Walter “Pach” Percival; sisters, Carmen “Naurine” Kissick, Lena “Sis” Crider, Margaretta “Greta” Nelson, Patricia “Pat” Plumer, and Valeria “Joan” King.

Stanley John “Stan” Mayers, 65, Hays, died Saturday, July 27, 2024 at HaysMed.

He was born May 19, 1959 in Osborne, the son of Raymond and Laurine (Krier) Mayers. In 1977, he graduated from Osborne High School then attended Fort Hays State University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He was the Chief Financial Officer at Golden Belt Bank, recently retiring after more than 22 years. On June 7, 1986, he was united in marriage to Pamela “Pam” Hamel in Zurich, and they celebrated 38 years of marriage. Stan was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, St. Nicholas of Myra Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #10044, the Fourth Degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly #282, and Marked Men for Christ. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and K-State fan. He was devoted to his family and loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Pam of Hays, his three children, Jenna Meyer and husband Marc of Nolensville, TN, Jason Mayers and wife Sara of Wichita, and Jared Mayers and fiancé Halle Lohmeyer of Hays, two grandchildren, Molly Meyer and Aiden Mayers, five sisters, Cynthia Kendig and husband Larry, Darlene Hadley and husband Craig, Shirley Thompson and husband Kent, Lisa Spears and husband Doyle all of Osborne, and Deanna Smith and husband Rick of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald Eugene Duerksen, age 81, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Village Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 16, 1942, in Hillsboro, Kansas Gerald lived a life marked by his commitment to his faith and family.

After graduating from Lehigh Rural High School, Gerald began farming and raising livestock outside of Lehigh until 1983. Life circumstances then took him on a different path as he returned to college to pursue a degree in social work from Bethel College. His new career as a social worker for SRS in Abilene and surrounding communities allowed him to touch the lives of many children and families, making a significant impact through his compassionate service.

On January 10, 1975, Gerald married Jane Littrell in McPherson, Kansas. This union joined Gerald’s daughters and son with Jane’s daughter and son. They added to their family welcoming two daughters of their own. Their marriage was a source of great joy and companionship throughout their 49 years together.

Gerald was a member of First Christian Church Abilene where he found community and continued to grow his faith. He especially enjoyed meeting with other men from the church for weekly coffee - a tradition that brought him much happiness and camaraderie. Gerald dedicated his life to Christ at a young age and frequently told his children and grandchildren that developing a relationship with Christ and accepting him as Lord and Savior was the most important decision of their lives.

His love and commitment to his family were evident in everything he did. He spent many hours in gyms, on ball fields, tennis courts, and golf courses attending as many games or programs of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as he was able.

Gerald didn’t know a stranger and was known for his great sense of humor. He delighted in ornery jokes and ribbing that would often bring laughter and joy to those around him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Duerksen; his children: Shannon (Todd) Davis, Sherri Duerksen, Craig (Megan) Duerksen, Jeff (Diane) Lindteigen, Angie (Rick) Vlasin, Rebecca (Kris) Kobiskie, and Stephanie (Kyle) Becker; his 15 grandchildren (Hunter, Morgan, Lauren, Scott, Sean, Talby, Annie, Meghan, Kris, Marcus, Elliott, Matigan, Kaleb, Kyson, Kolt); and his 3 great-grandchildren (Brailen, Landrie, Lowry) as well as his brother, Gary (Janet) Duerksen and sister, Laura Bishop;. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2nd at 10:30 am at First Christian Church in Abilene. Janetta Kinderknecht Heroneme

Clara A. Wilbanks 72 of Salina passed away Sunday July 21, 2024, at the Salina Regional Health Center. Clara was born March 7, 1952, in Denver Colorado to Clarence and Anna (Sack) Herrman.

Growing up in Denver but on the weekends, would go out to the family farm in Brighton, Colorado. Where she would help with the bringing in of the Milk Cows. She attended schools in Denver and graduating from Manual High School in 1970. Meeting at a young age the love of her life, Ralph Wilbanks. After graduating high school Clara attended Beauty School and working in a floral shop. Ralph and Clara were married on April 22, 1972. They had one daughter the following year. They moved from Thorton, Colorado out to Brighton Colorado where they enjoyed spending time with their horses and animals. Clara enjoyed driving and riding her horses until she became ill. She worked in many places, but retired from a long career in Adams County government as a telecommunications specialist overseeing a large phone line and greeting people as they came in.

Clara and Ralph where also members of the Adams County Fair and Rodeo Committee where they were involved in the parades, rodeos and anywhere they were needed. Clara was also a 20 plus year 4-H leader for Adams County. She enjoyed helping kids learn how to ride and show their horses. Ralph and Clara were involved in the fair queens as well when their daughter got involved in 1989 and then as queen in 1991. She was a long-time member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a life member of the American Paint Horse Association. After Clara stopped riding, she would go with her daughter to the Rodeos as she competed on her horses. Having a couple qualifiers in the Breakaway Roping and the most recently the Select Barrel Racing. Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Eucharistic Minister.

In 2023 moving to Abilene Kansas and finally to Salina, Kansas. To be with her daughter and her husband.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ralph. Many Uncles and Aunts. Clara is survived by her daughter Colette Stoudt her husband Jim Stoudt of Abilene, her sisters Mary Renke of Brighton CO, Patty Ducey-Brooks of San Diego, CA, and Kathy Meier (Ken Meier of Fort Collins, CO as well as two step grandchildren.

The family has selected cremation and services will be in Colorado at a later date.

Clara was born March 7, 1952, in Denver Colorado to Clarence and Anna (Sack) Herrman.Growing up in Denver but on the weekends, would go out to the family farm in Brighton, Colorado. Where she would help with the bringing in of the Milk Cows. She attended schools in Denver and graduating from Manual High School in 1970. Meeting at a young age the love of her life, Ralph Wilbanks. After graduating high school Clara attended Beauty School and working in a floral shop. Ralph and Clara were married on April 22, 1972. They had one daughter the following year. They moved from Thorton, Colorado out to Brighton Colorado where they enjoyed spending time with their horses and animals. Clara enjoyed driving and riding her horses until she became ill. Kenneth (Kenny) Charles Longhofer, 78, of rural Chapman, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1946, in Herington, Kansas, to Kenneth and Betty Longhofer.

Kenny was a 1964 graduate of Dickinson County Community High School.

Kenny had a deep passion for farming, dedicating his entire life caring for his homestead south of Chapman. For more than 30 years, he proudly served the Logan Township as Clerk while providing road maintenance and repairs (known as “Maintainer Man” among his friends and family). He enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, often incorporating new restaurants, museums, and historical sites in his adventures. Kenny was an avid reader and enjoyed music and growing flowers, taking the most pride in his hollyhocks. He was known for his gift of gab, long-winded stories, and sense of humor, always finding an excuse to visit the local Coop to catch up on the latest happenings.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melody; daughters Beth, Shawnee (Gayle Worley), and Kerry Patterson (Darrell); brother Keith (Donna); and sister Rita (Steve Crossett); and his furry grandkids Hank, Jersey, Holly, Bella, Nyx, and Moxie. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Betty Longhofer.

The family extends their gratitude to those who ensured Kenny’s harvest and fall field preparations were completed. Nancy Jean Nelson, daughter of Marcus D. and Velma J. (Koch) Zimmerman, was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 30,1946, and died in her home in Reston, Virginia on July 23,2024, at the age of 77. &nbsp;Nancy grew up in Wichita, and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1964.

She married Kenneth “Kenny” Nelson on June 9, 1979 in Wichita. &nbsp;Ken's jobs in information technology led the couple to Iowa, Kansas, California, Pennsylvania, and finally to Reston, where they have lived for the past 30 years. The couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Nancy worked as office manager at Trout Unlimited, a position she enjoyed immensely. &nbsp;After retirement from there, she did volunteer work at Sunrise Assisted Living.

She was a member of St. Athanasius Lutheran Church, Vienna, Virginia, where she served on the church's Commission of Mercy.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Ken, of the home; daughter, Rhonda Cruz (Louie), grandchildren, Ericka Cruz, Tatiana Dearman (Ethan) of Prague, Oklahoma, and Luke Cruz (Jazmynne) of Durham, North Carolina; brother, Marc (Midge) Zimmerman of Colorado; sister, Donna (Read) Oakleaf of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and great-grandson, Artie Dearman, of Prague, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ryan Glenn Carver, and a grandson, Nicholas Amadeus Cruz.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virgina with funeral services following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Susan Mary Kimminau, 71, of Beloit, Kansas passed away on July 23, 2024. She was the youngest of 11, born on July 12, 1953 to William Joseph and Loretta Catherine (Weingardt) Kimminau.

She attended a country school in Jewell County. She lived the majority of her life with her parents on the family farm. In 2000 she moved to Beloit, where she resided with her brother David.

She was a member of the Saint John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas. Susan was a genuinely happy person that enjoyed life. She liked watching game shows on tv and playing cards, especially Kings in the Corner.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Catherine, siblings Victor Kimminau, Urban Kimminau, Patricia Flageolle, Julia Hyde and David Kimminau.

She is survived by siblings, Ferdinand Kimminau (Vi), Albert Kimminau, Ralph Kimminau (Lorena), Stanley Kimminau and Kenneth Kimminau; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Father Jarett Konrade will officiate with Deacon Albert Kimminau assisting. Susan Mary Kimminau

Darlene Reed, 84, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away on July 18 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on a farm in Vesper, Kansas, in 1940, to her parents Harry and Bessie Jensen. There were two brothers, Orval and Floyd and her sister, Irma. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Reed, whom she married in 1959, and her daughters, Sharon Reed of Highland Beach, Florida and Kathy Reed of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Darlene was an avid reader who instilled the love of reading, education and curiosity in both her daughters. She was a vocal participant at her daughter’s sporting events as well as a Sunday School Teacher and a Girl Scout Leader.

Together with her husband, Melvin, Darlene managed their farm in Bennington, raising cattle and wheat. They both had a soft spot for their “pet cows”, treating each as if they were a valuable family member, which they were. She will be remembered for her amazing cinnamon rolls, which her daughters still can’t manage to replicate to this day.

Darlene had a strong faith in God and was an active participant in her Church Group in Bennington. May she continue her explorations in faith and family wherever this next journey takes her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Bennington Cemetery, Friday, July 26, at 11 am with a luncheon at the United Church of Bennington, after to share stories and laughs.

Linda graduated from Salina High and earned an accounting degree in college.&nbsp; She worked in Salina at NBA Bank and later UMB Bank as a loan processor retiring after 32 years.&nbsp; She loved to travel and experience new cultures.&nbsp; She especially liked cruises and her trip to Africa. &nbsp;

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and numerous loving dogs.

Jerry woke up every morning and said he was grateful for this day. &nbsp;He will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of life.&nbsp;

On July 21, 2024, Michael (Mike) Morse passed away in his family home in Salina, Kansas.

Michael was born on June 03, 1963 in Salina, KS to parents Paul Everett and Geraldine Marle (Naugle) Morse.

After proudly serving in the US Army and finishing his career as a sergeant, Mike transitioned to the Georgia Port Authority in Savannah where he retired as a specialized crane operator in 2018. His retirement years were spent in Salina where he graduated from high school in 1982.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jerri Morse.

He is survived by his sister, Michelle Morse, sister-in-law Evamarie Smith, brother Douglas Morse and uncle and aunt, Loren and Nancy Dowell.

Gary A. Hoops, 68, of Deshler, NE but has recently been in Salina, KS the last 7 years passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born in Alma, NE on January 8, 1956, and was adopted by Rudolph and Hilda (Tietjen) Hoops. He was baptized on January 21, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church and then confirmed his faith in Christ on October 25, 1970. He graduated from Bryon High School in Byron, NE in 1974. Throughout his working life he worked at Werner’s Dairy Farm, Reinke Manufacturing as a general laborer doing pipe bundling, and doing a paper route in Beatrice, NE until his health declined that he was not able to work anymore.

Gary Enjoyed many fishing trips with his kids which he inherited the name “Catfish”. He also enjoyed going to many sporting events especially when his children were involved. He always cheered on the Nebraska Corn huskers, Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorie Eitzmann, and brother Larry Hoops.

Survivors include his children Wendy Kuhlmann and husband Tony of Salina, Kansas, Shelly Smith of Deshler, Eric Hoops and wife Wendy of Hebron, Nebraska, and Tony Hoops of Deshler. Gary had been blessed with seven grandkids, Tyler, Mckylie, Kirsten, Daphne, Olivia, Kyzer, and Korbyn. Brother-in-Law Wayne Eitzmann of Deshler, and sister Rose (Hoops) Remmers and husband Dale of Bruning, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, Nebraska.

Gary A. Hoops

Gregory Eugene Rhea, known to all as Greg, passed away on July 19, 2024 in Harper, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born on May 1, 1957 in Salina, Kansas to Kenneth and Dorothy (Baker) Rhea. &nbsp;Greg grew up surrounded by the love of his family and the dust of construction sites.

Greg’s career was marked by his exceptional skills as a heavy equipment operator. &nbsp;He began working alongside his father and brothers at Rhea Construction Company, mastering the art of earth moving. &nbsp;Greg’s brother Tom said, “Greg was the best equipment operator I have ever seen.” &nbsp;And Tom had seen a lot of operators through the years. &nbsp;His talent and dedication to his craft led him to work for various companies throughout his career. &nbsp;In his later years, Greg found joy in farming with the Hostetler family in Harper where he continued to work the land he loved.

A true outdoorsman, Greg loved golf and especially cherished his time spent ﬁshing, often accompanied by his loyal dog Rowdy. &nbsp;His love for nature was evident in his dedication to his hobbies, providing him with a peaceful escape and countless, cherished memories.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Rhea, and his brother, Thomas Rhea. &nbsp;He is survived by his daughters, Candice Rhea and Keyra Rhea; sister, Glenda (Harold) Mutschler; brother, Tony (Anna) Rhea; sister-in-law, Ann Rhea; grandchildren: Julian, Ethan, and Jayden; nieces and nephews: Amy (Cary), Beth (Rod), Corey, Karen (Jay), Alex (Audrey), Madalynn, and Chase; other relatives and friends.

Greg’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him but his spirit will live on through the stories of his life, and the landscapes he shaped. &nbsp;A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donald "Don" Gene Cole, age 66, of Willmar, passed away Thursday, July 18, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. &nbsp;There wasn’t an illness Don couldn’t “walk off” until he met cancer, which he fought endlessly.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Church of St. Mary. &nbsp;Interment will be in the church cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf, the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, or the American Cancer Society. &nbsp;Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. &nbsp;<a href="https://www.petersopnbrothers.com/">www.petersonbrothers.com</a>

Don was born on April 2, 1958, in Lincoln, Kansas, to Bill and Eldora Cole. He grew up in the town of Beverly, KS, where his family raised dogs and ran a paper route for more than 10 years. Many afternoons were spent playing football, basketball, or baseball with family and friends, then when evening came the game changed to “Old Grey Wolf”. As all Coles do, Don enjoyed catfishing with his dad.&nbsp;

Don worked at the rock quarry in Lincoln, KS, to put himself through college. He attended Kansas State University where he graduated with a Business Management degree but spent most of his time cheering on the Wildcats.&nbsp;

After college, he moved to Fremont, NE, to begin working for Hormel. While in Fremont, Don met the love of his life, Jan, on a blind date in 1982. He stole her heart by bringing flowers picked from a flower bed at work for their first Valentine’s Day. They were married on August 6, 1983, on a very rainy day in Fremont.

Don and Jan couldn’t wait to start a family and had three children Aaron, Rebecca and Nathan. Goofy as always, Don was sure to instill his children with all his best shenanigans including how to make aluminum can rockets with firecrackers, basketball trick shots and how to send a toy paratrooper up a kite string. Soon after Nathan was born, Don’s career with Hormel took the family to Austin, MN, in 1994. He later transferred to Jennie-O Turkey Store where he worked at plants in Willmar, Marshall and Pelican Rapids, MN.&nbsp;

In 2012, Don and Jan moved back to Willmar, MN, where Don worked at the Jennie-O corporate office. With a house on the golf course, Don used the opportunity to work on his golf game. In fact, after retiring in 2017 he loved golf so much Don and Jan found a second home in Surprise, AZ, so he could golf year-round.

While Don enjoyed golf, what truly brought him joy was meeting and spending time with his grandchildren Hannah, Theo and Scout. Whether he was squirting them with a squirt gun, taking them mini-golfing or sneaking them ice cream, Don was always finding ways to make their time together fun.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Cole; three children, Aaron (Brittany) Cole, Rebecca (Aaron) Lambert and Nathan (Bailey) Cole; three grandchildren Hannah, Theo and Scout; five siblings, Jim (Paula) Cole, Ken (Jaynell) Cole, Bob (Kim) Cole, JoAnn (Tracy) Mote, Dave (Sharon) Cole; brother-in-law, Andy Greene and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Eldora Cole and a sister, Maxine Greene.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of&nbsp;James Jore, a loving husband, father, and friend. James passed away at the age of 75, surrounded by his family.

James (Jim, Pops, Jimmy, Alfie) was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed sipping on a cold Coors Light while watching his favorite TV shows or cheering on the Kansas City Royals. But above all, Pops cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

He will always be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, son, Derek, and daughter in law, Jesse, grandson, Will, brothers Ronnie (Marva) and Leroy, sisters Janice Jornod and Joyce Perry, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. Though he may be gone, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
