Don Leroy Goheen, of Downs, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025 at the age of 76. Don was born on October 17, 1948 to Delwin L. Goheen and Donna M. (Hofer) Goheen in Beloit, Kansas; the eldest of five children. He graduated from Beloit High School and then attended the North Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical College.

Don spent a number of years working on his grandparent's farm (John and Ida Hofer) near Downs, where he developed a love for metal work and machinery. In 1966, he joined the Kansas National Guard and retired from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service. He then farmed north of Downs, raising sheep, cattle, and one very angry goose. After, he began a third career as a machinist for Duane and Kathy Miller at Miller Welding in Downs, Kansas, who treated him like family, and whom he held in the highest regard.

In his downtime, Don enjoyed military documentaries and novels and helped his nephews and nieces appreciate the skills and talents required to keep a farm running, including welding, smithing, baling hay, harvesting, and fence repair. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, they were important words. He had no children, but is survived by his brother, Craig S. Goheen, of Springfield, VA; six nephews and nieces, everyone at Miller Welding, and each person that he has ever taught, helped, fed, or saved, including everyone mentioned, as well as many of their family and friends.&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held at the Rose Valley Cemetery, in Downs, Kansas on Monday, August 25th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Downs Senior Center in care of Schoen Funeral Home And Monuments 1001 Morgan Ave. Downs, Kansas 67437.

Jean Walls, age 78, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on July 10, 2025. Born to Charles and Gladys Nelson in Chateauguay, New York, Jean’s life was marked by love, service, and grace. She spent her childhood in upstate New York, surrounded by her large extended family. She cherished berry picking, lake days at the Fish Camp, and the strong bonds that shaped her.

As a devoted military spouse, Jean managed her home with care and intention; raising 4 children and completing multiple moves across the United States. Her journey of faith began in Alaska, where she gave her life to Christ, a decision that brought her peace and purpose. Her faith would guide her lifelong service to others.

For over 22 years, Jean worked with the Anchorage School District, earning a reputation as a beloved and trusted presence among children, families, and educators. Beyond her career, she volunteered joyfully in churches as a nursery worker, Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, and children’s church camp counselor.

Jean’s talents were as abundant as her heart: a gifted hostess, quilter, home decorator, and organizer. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, scrapbooking, and tending to flowers. Her hands were always busy, whether crafting, cleaning, comforting, or creating beauty for others. Even in her final days, her petite hands, though withered and changed, held tightly to the promises of her Heavenly Father.

Later in life, Jean married Roger Walls, with whom she shared 16 loving years. Together, they served in ministry, traveling, and building deep relationships. Roger brought sunlight back into Jean’s life, and their shared work made an impact on countless lives.

Jean was active in her local church, Women’s Missionary Union, Christian Women’s Association, quilting groups, Eastern Star, and the Social Order of Beauceant. Through all her civic and church involvement, her greatest passion remained her ministry to children and those in need.

Jean loved to laugh, read, shop, spend time with her family and savored coffee and chocolate. She was exceptionally photogenic with warm smiling eyes. Jean was a true lady; gentle and patient, with a rare softness and hidden strength. She was generous with her time, affection, forgiveness, and a listening ear. She was a wonderful person and universally loved. Jean’s life was a testament to quiet strength and selfless service. Her family and all who knew her are grateful for her love and the example she set.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Walls and brother Russell Nelson; her children Lori Shepherd, Carol Jessee, Crystal Smith, Scott Hoff and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and spouses, and 2 great-grandchildren. Stepchildren Rita Troxel, Roger Jr., Richard, Patrick, and John Walls. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gladys and brother Timothy Nelson and 3 grandchildren, Phinehas, Zarah and Raphael Smith.

A Memorial Services for Jean will be 11 A.M., Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-9 P.M., at the funeral home. Peggy Ellen Gravette, age 81, passed on to her eternal resting place on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the comfort of her two daughters. 

She was born December 12, 1943 in Sunflower, Kansas the daughter of Hugh and Dorothy Grinstead. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1961. On November 10, 1968 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Gravette. Peggy and Bill made their home in Abilene, Kansas in the early 70’s. The couple had two children, Meg in 1974 and Beth in 1976. Peggy stayed at home to raise her two girls until school age then returned to her career as a Paralegal secretary. Peggy enjoyed antiquing with her sisters, plants, flowers and gardening. Most of all she loved being a devoted mom to her two girls. She always had a deep love for her family and extended family including her dog Duke. 

Nephews and nieces would often visit Peggy’s home as she was someone who you could talk to endlessly without judgment. She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness and unwavering love for her family and others. In coping with her husband’s death Peggy had the true blessing to be a “nanny” for her nieces first born child Gracee that brought many smiles and joy to her life. Peggy is survived by her two daughters; Meg Gravette and Beth Gravette-Milbers and husband Manny. Grandchildren, Hunter William Holmgren and Brason Kellan Novak. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 30 years Bill Gravette, siblings Debbie Beene, Nancee Grinstead, Mark Grinstead, Kay Ford and a nephew, Tod Ford. Funeral Services for Peggy will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery.

Sharon Kaye (Lady) Evers was born September 7, 1944 in Abilene, Kansas the daughter of Gerald and Auline (Milham) Lady. She passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Village Manor in Abilene.

Sharon grew up in the Abilene area, graduated from Abilene High School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University. Sharon worked in banking her entire adult life and was Vice President of the Trust Department at US Bank in St. Joseph, Missouri until her retirement.

She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and attended many football and basketball games throughout her life. She bled purple. She also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals whenever she could. She enjoyed traveling, and they went to every bowl game between 1982 and 2023. After retirement, Sharon enjoyed traveling to Estes Park where they spent the summer and enjoyed many campouts with the Good Sam’s RV Club. Most of all, Sharon enjoyed being with family.

Sharon spent many years volunteering on various boards. She was on the Kansas State University Foundation Board and the Kansas State University Alumni board for many years. She also was on the board of the United Way and Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri. After living over 40 years in St. Joseph, Missouri, they moved back to Abilene four years ago.

On June 11, 1966 she was united in marriage to Richard Evers. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her brother Larry Lady (Carol) of Overland Park, Kansas, sister Donna Morgenson (Steve) of Ashland, Nebraska, and Debbie Davis of Abilene, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Auline Lady. She had numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Sharon will be Friday, August 15, 2025 at Emmanuel Church in Abilene with pastors Raymond Moore and Marc Riegel officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, and burial to follow. Her final resting place will be in the Mount St. Joseph Cemetery in Abilene. Greer, 77, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025. &nbsp;She was born on January 12, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland. &nbsp;She worked as a registered nurse for 18 years at Presbyterian Manor, as the Assisted Director of Nursing. &nbsp;Patti was not only a caregiver, but a teacher, leader, and advocate with a true dedication to those in need. &nbsp;No one else consistently demonstrated such empathy and grace, in both her professional career and the support she showed to her family.&nbsp;

Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband of 58 years, David M. Greer, son, Jerred Greer; grandchildren, Matthew Greer, Daniel Greer, Christina Greer, and Jessica Greer; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Hosie, all of Salina; siblings, Kenneth Vlasaty (Judy) and Margaret Loundas (Mark), all of Baltimore, Maryland; sister in laws, Ramona Bohl and Mary Maize.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Elizabeth (Green) Jones; siblings, Donna Goracke and Robert Vlasaty (June). &nbsp;

Patricia Louise Greer

Opal Louise Ryff, 92, passed away peacefully at Pinnacle Park Healthcare in Salina, Kansas on Sunday, August 17, 2025.&nbsp;

“Louise” was born on August 27, 1932, near Eudora, KS in ‘the old Johnson County Timber’, daughter to Esther (Rothrock) and Orvel Wilson. In 1933, the family moved to the area west of Kipp in Saline County. In 1935, they relocated to the Bob White farm in east Salina at the Cloud Street Fjord on the Smoky Hill River. Louise often told the stories of her childhood growing up two miles south of Marymount College and across the fence west of the Salina Elks Country Club. Her father farmed the area and milked cows with the Whites; the girls played around the bluff and waded in the old Smoky Hill River. In 1944, the family moved to the area just west of Gypsum where her father farmed for several more years. Louise graduated from Gypsum High School in 1950, then continued to Brown Mackie in Salina. She worked at Woolworths, Salina Journal, and Salina Tractor while at Brown Mackie. Lousie soon met Marvin Ryff on a blind date, and they were married on September 18, 1954, in Salina. Five children were born to this union: Rhonda, Randy, Ramona, Roxann, and Rusty.&nbsp;

In February 1956, after Marvin graduated from Airborne Paratrooper training, the couple settled on a small farmstead between Dillon and Elmo, Kansas at a former railroad stop known as “Dayton”. Louise and Marvin resumed farming with his father Henry and began their part of a six-generation family farm currently operated by their grandson Logan Ryff.&nbsp;

On the farm, Louise was a hard worker, riding horses, driving tractors, drilling wheat, hauling grain, tending livestock, and raising five children. Louise enjoyed a large garden and home canning vegetables, mostly out of necessity when the kids were young. Louise also loved to sing and was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church Sextet for many years. Louise loved family vacations to Colorado after wheat harvest, and looked forward to hosting holiday gatherings with children, family, and cousins. She cherished the lifelong friendships shared with the Jim Rutz family, Robert Riffel family, and Lyle Rechnagel family where all the kids felt like cousins growing up.&nbsp;

Louise was a farm wife, homemaker, and bookkeeper. After Marvin’s passing in 1979, Louise continued to support the boys on the family farm and began bookkeeping at the Carlton and Dillon grain elevators. She later retired as a bank teller after 18 years at the First National Bank of Hope, Kansas. After retirement and moving to Abilene, she kept a small garden with tomatoes, chilies, and a variety of beautiful flowers. She enjoyed feeding her birds, squirrels, and mason bees, watching golf tournaments and KU basketball, taking walks, and solving a good crossword puzzle. She loved watching out for the orioles, ring-necked doves, Mississippi kites, and even the turkey buzzards, as they all migrated through the area.&nbsp;

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son Randy, grandson Matthew Ryff, brother-in-law Vernon Allen, and many dear cousins and extended family. She is survived by her children: Rhonda (Mark) Person, Salina, KS; Ramona (Max) Linder, Abilene, KS; Roxann (Nicholas) Case, Carlsbad, NM; Rustin (Rusty &amp; Kimberr) Ryff, Assaria, KS; and daughter-in-law Donna Ryff, Hope, KS. Louise was a proud grandmother to Alycia (Scott) Schoenfeld, Logan (Sarah) Ryff, Jessica (Scott) McSpadden, Jamie Linder, Jake Linder, Josh Case, Camden Case, and Shea Case, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Lillian Allen and niece Sheree (Dan) Keller of Orlando, FL.

A short memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 28th, 2025, at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, KS, followed by graveside service at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, 1179 Jeep Road, Abilene, KS.  </figure>Opal Louise Ryff, 92, passed away peacefully at Pinnacle Park Healthcare in Salina, Kansas on Sunday, August 17, 2025.&nbsp;“Louise” was born on August 27, 1932, near Eudora, KS in ‘the old Johnson County Timber’, daughter to Esther (Rothrock) and Orvel Wilson. In 1933, the family moved to the area west of Kipp in Saline County. In 1935, they relocated to the Bob White farm in east Salina at the Cloud Street Fjord on the Smoky Hill River. Louise often told the stories of her childhood growing up two miles south of Marymount College and across the fence west of the Salina Elks Country Club. Her father farmed the area and milked cows with the Whites; the girls played around the bluff and waded in the old Smoky Hill River. In 1944, the family moved to the area just west of Gypsum where her father farmed for several more years. Louise graduated from Gypsum High School in 1950, then continued to Brown Mackie in Salina. She worked at Woolworths, Salina Journal, and Salina Tractor while at Brown Mackie. Lousie soon met Marvin Ryff on a blind date, and they were married on September 18, 1954, in Salina. Five children were born to this union: Rhonda, Randy, Ramona, Roxann, and Rusty.&nbsp;In February 1956, after Marvin graduated from Airborne Paratrooper training, the couple settled on a small farmstead between Dillon and Elmo, Kansas at a former railroad stop known as “Dayton”. Opal Louise Ryff

Alvin Ernest Rudeen was born at home in Mankato, Kansas on August 17, 1938; the third child and the first boy.&nbsp; His family moved to Englewood, Colorado when he was in preschool because of his&nbsp;respiratory&nbsp;health.

Al grew up in the Denver area.&nbsp; His family was poor and he almost dropped out of high school when his father contracted a long term illness. He graduated in the spring of 1957 and enrolled in Central College, in McPherson, Kansas after hearing their choir sing at his church.

That fall, Al met Eleanor Brandt at Central.&nbsp; They started dating on the Choir tour, and he asked her to marry him just before Christmas, 1958.&nbsp; They were married on February 14, 1960.

They remained in McPherson, until both graduated with degrees in teaching.&nbsp; Their son, Rob, was born in October, 1962, and they moved to Salem, Oregon the summer of 1966 to work in Salem Public Schools.&nbsp; In 1971, Al was a nominee for Teacher of the Year in the Salem School district for his development of a remedial reading program.&nbsp; He stopped teaching in 1980 and pursued an associate degree in Electronics.&nbsp; He eventually founded a videography business and continued in this until retirement.

Al and Eleanor were very active in the Salem Free Methodist Church.&nbsp; He served as choir director, church board member and on the Building Committee.&nbsp; They remained active members until they returned to McPherson in the summer of 2013.

Eleanor passed away in 2014, and Al married Maryanne Green in 2015, who died in 2021.

Al is survived by his only child, Robert Rudeen, who lives in Monroe, Connecticut and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Stephen “Kent” Thompson, 75, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Kent was born October 25, 1949, in McPherson, KS, the son of Darrell V. and Lucille O. (Marsh) Thompson.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from McPherson College.&nbsp; In 1985, Kent was united in marriage to Leslie Ann Thomas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a retired trailer salesman for Action Equipment Company.&nbsp; Kent was a Boy Scout Leader and was involved with Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include four children, Justin Thompson of Louisburg, KS, Chris (Sheri) Thompson of Canton, KS, Aaron (Emily) Thompson of Ellsworth, KS, and Lexi (Levi) Tweedy of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Blue Thompson of Canton, KS; five grandchildren, John Thompson, Maraya Thompson, Cruz Thompson, Lillian Tweedy, and Lincoln Thompson; and many extended relatives and friends.

A celebration of Kent’s life (come &amp; go) will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Barbara J. Long, 79, of Salina, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025. &nbsp;She was born in Norton, Kansas on March 29, 1946, to Vera (Fossett) and Joseph Lour. &nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Gerold Laurent; sister, Vicky Cyphers; brothers, Dany Lour and Terry Lour.

Left to mourn her passing, is her husband, Lewis “Luke” Long; sons, Allen Long (Jessica) and Scott Long (Amber); grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Arwen and Wyatt Long; and sisters, Connie Smith and Sharon Helm.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025, at First Southern Baptist Church, 2401 South Ohio Street, Salina, with Pastor Greg Savage as officiant. &nbsp;Visitation will be held that morning, at 9 a.m. &nbsp;until service time. &nbsp;Burial will follow the service in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Rosemary Divilbiss, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salina on February 7, 1938, Rosemary was the daughter of Elverda Malmstrom and Richard Hemmy. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955.

Rosemary met the love of her life, David Divilbiss, at a 4-H barn dance during high school. They were married on May 18, 1973, and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.She worked at Sunset School, where she took great joy in caring for the children and being part of their daily lives. She also worked retail at Sears where she met many of her good friends. Outside of work, Rosemary loved gardening, cheering on K-State football, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, David; her children: Mike Moody (Jan), Steve Moody (Rosie), Tim Green (Rhonda), Richard Divilbiss (Julie), Randy Divilbiss (Deena), Daniel Divilbiss (Carey), and Kristi Fisher (Brian); her siblings: Paul Hemmy (Sharon), Jim Hemmy (Theresa), Bill Hemmy (Toby), Jerry Hemmy (Lori), John Hemmy (Mary), Marilyn Edwards (Beau), Barbara Marsh (Eddy), and Joyce Hemmy.Rosemary also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Larry Hemmy and Richard Hemmy Jr.; and sisters Carolyn Hemmy Hartle, Darlene Hemmy Williams, Jolene Hemmy, and Janice Hemmy Brown.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salina. 

The funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, also at St. Mary’s, with burial to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

Outside of work, Rosemary loved gardening, cheering on K-State football, and spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her husband, David; her children: Mike Moody (Jan), Steve Moody (Rosie), Tim Green (Rhonda), Richard Divilbiss (Julie), Randy Divilbiss (Deena), Daniel Divilbiss (Carey), and Kristi Fisher (Brian); her siblings: Paul Hemmy (Sharon), Jim Hemmy (Theresa), Bill Hemmy (Toby), Jerry Hemmy (Lori), John Hemmy (Mary), Marilyn Edwards (Beau), Barbara Marsh (Eddy), and Joyce Hemmy.Rosemary also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Larry Hemmy and Richard Hemmy Jr.; and sisters Carolyn Hemmy Hartle, Darlene Hemmy Williams, Jolene Hemmy, and Janice Hemmy Brown.A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salina. Harold Gene Shannon, 82, of Salina, passed away on August 16, 2025. He was born in Hays, Kansas, on August 27, 1942, to Harold A. and Cathrine (Karlin) Shannon.&nbsp;

Harold grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1961. After graduating, he married Cecelia Martinson on May 26, 1963.&nbsp;

Harold worked as a custodian for the Officers’ Club at Shilling Air Force Base in Salina. He later worked for Executive Film Deliveries for 21 years and retired from UPS after 21 years in January 2000.&nbsp;

Harold enjoyed go-kart racing and restoring classic cars, with a special interest in Volkswagens. A talented handyman, he kept himself busy and passed on his knack for tinkering to his children. He also enjoyed camping and riding jet skis. Above all, Harold loved his family and friends.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold A. and Catherine Shannon; his brother, Richard L. Shannon; his sisters, Caroline A. Burt and Connie May Shannon.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Shannon of Salina; his son, Darrel R. (Rhonda) Shannon of Salina; his daughter, Sheri (Frank) Pausteiner of Arizona; grandchildren Chad (Stephanie) Hatfield, Jesse (Christina) Hatfield, Nikki Hatfield, Darrel G. Shannon, Dannielle J. Shannon, and Dustin Shannon; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many lifelong friends.&nbsp;

Kristine “Kris” Ann Trow Dickson, 75, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Born on March 15, 1950, in Bennington, Kris was the beloved daughter of Phyllis E. (Larson) and Calvin Eugene Trow.

After graduating from Bennington High School, Kris attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, and then the University of Colorado at Denver, Colorado.

Kris began her 40-year trucking career with Graves Truck Line in Salina, Kansas. She then moved to Denver, Colorado to continue her career with Denver Midwest Motor Freight, Graves Truck Line (Denver) ANR Freight System, HVH Transportation, Ryder Pie Freight and Consolidated Freightways Motor Freight. She received numerous awards for her skills. She ended her working career as a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Brighton, Colorado.

She was Union Steward and negotiated the contracts and disputes for her fellow employees. This did lead her to testify in Federal Court and to the National Labor relations Board on more than one occasion. She strongly believed in workers rights and challenged and defended them to anyone who attempted to abuse them. This made for a lot of entertaining encounters.

Kris was a member of the international Brotherhood of Teamster Local 696 and 961, The Office and Professional Employees International Union Local #5, The Colorado Rural Letter Carriers Association, The Teamster Retiree Association of Denver, United Church of Bennington, United Women’s Club of Bennington, Daughters of the American Revolution and Hope of Minneapolis.

Her life was deeply rooted in the community she loved, and she carried forward the values of family, heritage, and tenacity. She was a devoted Denver Broncos fan and never missed an episode of Outlander.Kris is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren—Lane Gerlick, Izac Gerlick, and Autumn Gerlick—and her great-grandson, Kratos Gerlick. She also leaves behind her brothers: Dick Trow, Perry Trow, and Mike Trow (Lori), all of Salina. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Russell Dickson.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be scattered in the Colorado Rockies with 2 bottles of Budweiser beer because she could never drink just one!

A memorial service celebrating Kris’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the United Church of Bennington in Bennington, Kansas.

He graduated from Sterling High School and was a jack of all trades, spending most of his career as a truck driver before becoming a dispatcher for Simmons Transport LLC.

David was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and never missed his WWE/WWF wrestling nights. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed attending sporting events and recitals for his grandchildren whenever he could.

David is survived by his children, Derrick Mapes and Alysha Meade; his mother and father, Charles and Katherine Brown; his sisters, Vida, Kim, Kay, Gwen, and Darline; and his brothers, Chris, James, and Jeremy. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Mapes, and his father, Edward Mapes.

Nancy Lee Wakefield, 75, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with family by her side at McPherson Health and Rehab.

She was born February 9, 1950, in Denver, CO, the daughter of Cecil E. and Ruth May (Campbell) Richards.&nbsp; She graduated from Burr Oak High School in Burr Oak, KS.&nbsp; On August 30, 1969, Nancy was united in marriage to Richard Wakefield in Belleville, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nancy worked as an insurance supervisor at Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance.&nbsp; She was a member of Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson.

She found great joy in oil painting and often shared her artwork with others. Her love for flowers extended from gardening to crafting beautiful artificial arrangements. A passionate traveler, she especially enjoyed bus tours with Richard that allowed them to explore new places. She also loved reading, walking, and spending time with her beloved apricot miniature poodle, Beau. In her younger years, she cherished the warmth of family gatherings, standing around the piano with her siblings as their mother played the piano, and they all sang together. Of all her life’s moments, the one she treasured most was marrying Richard, the love of her life.

Survivors include her loving husband, Richard of the home; a brother, Glen “Rip” Richards (Candy) of Apache Junction, AZ; a sister, Ellen Gray of Whiting, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Richards; mother &amp; step-father, Ruth and Bill Dillon; and two sisters, Patricia Howell and Ruthie Richards.

Terrence “Terry” Ray Regehr, 65, of Galva, KS and formerly of Moundridge, KS, was called to his Heavenly home due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in McPherson County, KS.

He was born April 29, 1960, in Lindsborg, KS, the son of Jane (Krehbiel) and Robert Regehr. Terry attended the Moundridge schools and graduated from Moundridge High School in 1979.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Terry was a truck driver for Vogts Earth Moving, JL Unruh Trucking, and Royer Brothers Tree Service.&nbsp; He was currently working at Benchmark Plastics.

Survivors include seven siblings: twin brother, Tim (Rebecca) Regehr of Galva, KS, Jo (Tony) Unruh of Galva, KS, Karin (Darin) Vauter of Powhatan, VA, Brad (Ashley) Harris of Moseley, VA, Shelby Harris of Chesterfield, VA, Roger (Terra) Regehr of Canton, KS, and Lori Spain of Glen Allen, VA; longtime companion, Tamra Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane &amp; Bob Regehr; birth mother, Virginia (Jerry) Harris; and a brother, Michael Harris.

Terrence “Terry” Ray Regehr

Marlene F. Neilson, 91 years of age, of Mankato passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at her home peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on July 12, 1934, in Fairfield, Nebraska,&nbsp;to Wesley and Vera (Wallenberg) Shunkwiler.

She married Murlin Neilson on September 13, 1952.&nbsp;&nbsp;Six children were born to this union, Donald, Roger, Debra, Kathy, Mona, and Michael.

She enjoyed gardening, bowling, coffee with the girls, reading, traveling, cooking and most of all, time spent with family.

Marlene was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post #783 Aux., of Mankato, Kansas.

Marlene was a home maker, farm wife, bookkeeper, and&nbsp;worked for Mankato School District USD #278 in the cafeteria department as a cook.Marlene is survived by her three sons, Donald (Laurie) Neilson, Roger (Jo) Neilson, Michael Neilson; two daughters, Kathy (Fred) Putman, and Mona Terry.; grandchildren, Billy, Megan, James, Jesse, Krystal, Lara, Kari, Mikkie, Melissa, Daana, and Morgan; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Linda Herbek and 1 brother, Bill Shunkwiler.She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Vera, her Husband, Murlin, Daughter, Debra Fogo, brothers Wesley, Curtis, Kenneth, David, and Keith Shunkwiler.

Neilson, 91 years of age, of Mankato passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at her home peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on July 12, 1934, in Fairfield, Nebraska,&nbsp;to Wesley and Vera (Wallenberg) Shunkwiler.She married Murlin Neilson on September 13, 1952.&nbsp;&nbsp;Six children were born to this union, Donald, Roger, Debra, Kathy, Mona, and Michael.She enjoyed gardening, bowling, coffee with the girls, reading, traveling, cooking and most of all, time spent with family.Marlene was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post #783 Aux., of Mankato, Kansas.Marlene was a home maker, farm wife, bookkeeper, and&nbsp;worked for Mankato School District USD #278 in the cafeteria department as a cook.Marlene is survived by her three sons, Donald (Laurie) Neilson, Roger (Jo) Neilson, Michael Neilson; two daughters, Kathy (Fred) Putman, and Mona Terry.; grandchildren, Billy, Megan, James, Jesse, Krystal, Lara, Kari, Mikkie, Melissa, Daana, and Morgan; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Linda Herbek and 1 brother, Bill Shunkwiler.She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Vera, her Husband, Murlin, Daughter, Debra Fogo, brothers Wesley, Curtis, Kenneth, David, and Keith Shunkwiler.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 1-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas.Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Kansas with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Marlene F. Neilson

Ralph Leo Kimminau, 86, Beloit, Kansas, passed away at Mitchell County Health Center&nbsp;on August 13, 2025. 

He was born on May 3, 1939 to William Joseph and Loretta Catherine (Weingardt) Kimminau in Edgewater, CO.&nbsp;He attended school in Lawrence, Nebraska. When he was old enough, he joined the&nbsp;US Army.&nbsp;

Ralph married Lorena Marie Flageolle on July 18, 1964 in Stratton, Colorado. This 60&nbsp;year union brought four children; Scott, Teresa, Todd, and Leanne. He worked at the Dubuque Packing Plant, and later for the City of Mankato. Ralph was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking,&nbsp;building things, fishing, a good poker game, and especially playing cards with his family and friends.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Lorena Kimminau; children, Scott Kimminau (Kathy) of Arvada, Co, Teresa Bonfante (Todd) of Aurora, Co, Todd Kimminau (Roxanne) of Beloit,&nbsp;KS, and Leanne Eilert (Leo) of Beloit, KS; grandchildren, Kelsey Hankins (Kyle), Ciara&nbsp;Kimminau, Lexie Kimminau, Tanner Kimminau, Emma Bonfante, Abigail Bonfante, Elliot&nbsp;Kimminau, TeJay Kimminau, Garrett Kimminau (Sage), Lyddia Crawford (Devin), and&nbsp;Maggie Eilert; four great grandchildren; siblings, Ferdinand Kimminau (Vi), Albert&nbsp;Kimminau, Stanley Kimminau and Kenneth Kimminau; and a host of nieces and&nbsp;nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine, siblings Victor&nbsp;Kimminau, Urban Kimminau, Patricia Flageolle, Julia Hyde, Susan Kimminau and David&nbsp;Kimminau.&nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, KS on&nbsp;Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jarett Konrade officiating. 

The rosary&nbsp;will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. before the service. Memorials may be sent to Solomon&nbsp;

Ralph Leo Kimminau

Larry Dean Nelson, 69, of New Cambria, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by the family he built and loved.

Born June 22, 1956, in Salina, Kansas, Larry was the son of Dorcas (Smith) and Darrell Nelson. He grew up with grit, heart, and a strong sense of loyalty—traits that stayed with him for life.

Larry married Claudia on October 11, 1997, his partner through thick and thin. Together, they raised a big family that was never short on laughter, hard work, or love.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia; daughter, Lauren Nelson (Shaun) of Abilene and six sons, Lyle Nelson (Kait) of New Cambria, Lucas Nelson of Carlton, Jordan Baxter (Ashlye) and Bryce Nelson (Tabatha), both of Lindsborg; Jason Baxter (Marie) of Lincoln, and Chris Baxter (Karissa) of North Carolina; and bonus daughter-in-law, Brandy Baxter of Buhler.

Larry was a proud grandpa to Grace, Ella, Clare, Adaline, Riley, Miranda, Shaun, Lawson, Oaklynn, Madison, Morgan (Josh), Crystine, Lacie, Faith, Dillon (Marivel), Dominick, Colton, and Kameron—and a great-grandpa to Maverick, Wil, and Kaylonie. He also leaves behind a crew of nieces, nephews, and extended family who knew him as steady, strong, and always willing to lend a hand.

He’s also survived by his brothers, Ron Nelson (Deb) and Randy Nelson (Cindy), both of New Cambria. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Steve Nelson, and his sister, Patricia Youngdahl.

Larry was a man of few words and firm values. He believed in hard work, showing up, and taking care of his own. Whether he was fixing something, offering quiet advice, or just being present, he led by example. His legacy lives on in the strength and character of his family.In accordance with his wishes, cremation has been chosen.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 22 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home. Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 23 at Highland Cemetery in New Cambria.

With heavy hearts yet steadfast hope in the promises of Christ, we celebrate the life and legacy of Timothy Arthur Fogle—a man whose journey on earth was marked by passion, purpose, and a deep, abiding love for his Lord and Savior.

Born in Arizona on October 29, 1959, to Harold “Dean” Fogle and Mildred (Applegarth) Fogle, Tim entered the world with a spark in his eye and a zest for life that never faded. From his earliest days, he was a spirited soul—with an adventurous streak, boundless curiosity, and abounding grace.

Tim graduated from Concordia High School in 1977 before attending Cloud County Community College and Kansas State University. His passion for computers began long before they became a modern necessity. A cutting-edge computer expert at heart, Tim patiently waited for the right opportunity to step into his dream career.

In the meantime, he proved himself a man of many talents, leaving a lasting mark in every role he took on—from working in the dairy industry driving milk tanker trucks to ultimately leading the IT department at Cloud County Community College. His diverse career path reflected both his adaptability and his commitment to excellence.

Tim’s truest identity was found not in his work, hobbies, or skills, but in his faith. His relationship with Jesus was authentic, steadfast, and transformative. He lived with integrity, loved without reservation, and extended grace as freely as he had received it.

While working on vehicles—and likely showing off his muscle car—Tim met the love of his life, LeAnn Hedberg. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1983. Together they raised two daughters, teaching valuable life lessons and sharing the knowledge of the Lord and Savior.

In 1996, Tim faced a life-changing diagnosis—Parkinson’s disease. One of the youngest to be diagnosed at the time, he faced the challenge head-on. He participated in experimental treatments, from medications to procedures to brain surgery performed while fully awake. Though Parkinson’s affected his body, it never dimmed his spirit. His joy remained unshakable because it was anchored in the Lord, and he refused to let the disease define him.

After a long, courageous battle, Tim has now entered the presence of his Savior. The adventurer has been welcomed into perfect peace. The farmer has found his eternal harvest. The tech wizard now beholds the Creator of all wonders. And the man of faith walks streets of gold, hand in hand with the One he loved most.

Tim was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Dean and Mildred, and his brother, Howard. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, LeAnn (of Great Bend, KS); his daughters, Elizabeth (Jesse) Lundquist (of Edson, KS) and Sarah (Kenton) LaRosh (of Osborne, KS); and his seven cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Kaleb, and Kody LaRosh; Ethan, Grace, Asa, and Ezra Lundquist. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie (John) Horkman (of Concordia, KS); sister-in-law, Leslie Fogle (of Plainville, KS); many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who were blessed by his life.
