Gib Cunningham, 90, Salina, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the comfort of his home. He was born Gilbert L. Cunningham on December 9, 1934, in Hays Kansas to Frank L. and Monta Cunningham.

          Gib, a United States Marine, and JoAnn Nissley were united in marriage on December 30, 1955. They were the proud owners of Designs by Cunningham in Salina before retiring in 2014 after 52 years.

          He was proud of his profession and loved being a florist. Known as the home of the original "Five Buck Friday Flowers" and "Roses R Us" special sale events at Designs by Cunningham, he shared his love for flowers with everyone. As a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers he had many opportunities to teach at design schools and floral conventions across the United States and was chosen in the early 1970's with a select group of florists to join the People to People educational program to travel and share his floral talents with Russian florists. 

As a Certified Floral Designer in the American Academy of Florists, he also taught in Holland, South Korea, and Taiwan. His greatest honor was being selected by the Society of American Florists to be part of the team to design the floral decorations at the 1985 and 1989 Presidential Inaugurations

Gib was a charter member of the TriRivers Detachment Marine Corp League and a longtime member of the Salina Breakfast AMBUCS, but his family was always what he was most proud of. 

Gib’s smile, generosity and sense of humor will be missed by many.

          He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Albert and Roberta.

Survivors are his wife of 69 years, Jo; daughter, Kimberly Cunningham; sons, Skip Cunningham (Kim Ann), Bob Cunningham; brother, Jerry Cunningham; sister, Becky Schnee; grandchildren, Chip (Angie), Christy, Trey (Alicia), Kyle (Brie), Caity (Lance), Courtney; and six great-grandchildren.

          The visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 2, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina.  Funeral services with military honors will begin at 1:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Salina Breakfast AMBUCS for the AmTrykes program and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.

Patricia Louise (Noller) Nelson, daughter of Dr. Richard and Deloris Noller, was born May 6th, 1941, in Hebron Nebraska, a small farming community of 1900 people. She passed away on April 22nd, 2025, a few short weeks prior to her 84th&nbsp;birthday, and has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In the early days, Patty grew up alongside her family, creating many memories around Hebron.&nbsp; Patty was the oldest of five children with Margaret, Douglas, Kathryn, and Pamela completing the family.&nbsp; They were always involved with the farm in some way and helped on many occasions to irrigate the corn working to the rhythm of planting season and harvest time. The sweltering summer days were rewarded with drinking from the cold, fresh sweet water well at the farm.&nbsp; One time she helped her parents, and her siblings gather honey and would then sell it out of a little wagon around town. There was enough honey and honeycomb left to have for breakfast on their buttery toast. Another time she flew in a Steerman biplane with her dad to treat some animals since he was a large animal Veterinarian. She often recalled her special horse by the name of Beauty whom she loved. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She graduated from Hebron High School in 1959 and attended Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1962. Patty always found a way to stay connected with her family. When her brother Doug came to college to attend Kansas State, she cooked her famous baked steak for him for dinner.

During her time at KSU she met David Bradley Nelson from McPherson Kansas. She soon fell in love, and they were united in marriage on October 7th, 1960, in the Danforth Chapel on the Kansas State University campus.

After graduation to begin their careers, Dave and Patty moved to Dodge City Kansas. Patty began teaching 4th&nbsp;grade and Dave started with an accounting firm.&nbsp; Soon, their first son, Bradley Allen Nelson, was born January 17, 1963. With all the changes she found teaching and being a mother was a little much. As resourceful as Patty always was, she opened a preschool so she could be with her son daily as well as continue earning income.

After a few years Dave, his brother John and their father Norris purchased an aluminum window company in McPherson Kansas which later became Continental Aluminum.&nbsp; Dave and Patty moved to McPherson to settle, and the family soon grew when Montgomery Paul May 31, 1965, Spencer Douglas April 2, 1966, Justin Miles January 23, 1970, and Chandler John August 14, 1972, were added.&nbsp; Patty was the glue for Dave and the five boys at every stage of life.

As the family expanded, their house on 1427 N. Maple St. was bursting at the seams full of boys and dogs.&nbsp; They moved to 740 E. Simpson Ave. in 1975 which included an in-ground swimming pool for the boys and plenty of room for Patty to make a home. Patty was an endless organizer and always made sure her boys were taken care of. Truly she gave sacrificial love with the thousands of loads of laundry and meals prepped. Patty was instrumental when Dave and she started their own investment business together called Nelson Real Estate.

Patty was a natural leader and loved to get involved, volunteering for the McPherson Public Library Board and long-range planning for the McPherson public schools, she joined ladies' groups like the Literature Club, PEO Sisterhood, and the Domestic arts Club.&nbsp; And of course, she always has a full calendar while enjoying the activities of the boys.&nbsp; As the boys grew, she took several jobs and worked outside the home.&nbsp; She was always interested in the arts, especially watercolors and lithography.&nbsp; She has enjoyed quite an art collection over the years.&nbsp;

As a parent, Patty’s primary interest was her boys and training them to be responsible young men.&nbsp; She involved them in their church, golf, Boy Scouts, T-ball, Football, Basketball. And always helped prep when Dave would take the boys, uncles, cousins, and friends on numerous hunting and fishing excursions. Patty believed in education, and she devoted her life to preparing her boys for college and to launch well in life.

After 25 years of living in McPherson, Dave took an accounting position in Topeka Kansas, and they relocated to their new home on the north side of Topeka.&nbsp; They joined the Northland Christian Church and were faithful attendees, with Dave singing in the choir, both involved in Sunday School, and Patty treasuring her weekly Bible Studies. Patty enjoyed playing golf and often played with David at the various golf courses in the Topeka area and their numerous travels. She made many friends along the way.&nbsp; She and Dave also loved to play Cribbage, and Patty taught the card game to her children and grandchildren.

When Dave became long term ill, Patty became his caregiver for several years when he developed Parkinson’s disease and passed away in November 2021. Learning to do life alone after 61 years of marriage was very hard.&nbsp; During this time, she continued serving at the church doing Bible studies with her friends, enjoyed walking with Mary Ellen, another widow, and movie night with Marilyn for fun and many laughs.&nbsp; She also enjoyed her regular Bunco dice game group.

She always said that anytime her children called and invited her she would say yes.&nbsp; These were the best times for her, she always said. &nbsp;&nbsp;That was Patty – always involved and making sure everyone was taken care of.

In her mid-30s Patty became a Christian by giving her life to Jesus. She became a praying woman where she uplifted her family faithfully until her last day. The Monday evening before passing away early Tuesday am, she is attending her regular Monday evening Ladies Bible Study. She consistently read her Bible and many books about the Christian Faith. She was notorious for journaling her thoughts and prayer requests. She often recalled the Haiti missions' trip to help the poor as an impactful moment in her Christian journey.

Undoubtedly, Matriarch Patty was the glue of the Nelson family and provided a constant flow of Christian love, support, and blessings to all her family.&nbsp; Patty was always serving and hosting many family gatherings, especially the Thanksgiving Holiday – food, fun, and celebration! Her desire was to live an upright life honoring God and being a witness for Him. Some of her favorite songs were “Majesty,” “People Need the Lord” and “Handel’s Messiah.” Well done, Patty!

She was preceded in death by her husband David, her oldest son Bradley, her parents, five aunts and two uncles. She is survived by their four sons Montgomery Paul Nelson, Spencer Douglas Nelson (Laurie), Justin Miles Nelson and Chandler John Nelson (Bonnie); nine grandchildren: Jordan, Levi, Hannah, Moriah, Josiah, Asher (Spencer and Laurie Nelson), Riley, Hope, and Miles (Justin Nelson); and 12 great-grandchildren: Benaiah, Evelyn, Jackson, Elijah, Ezra, Selah, Ronin (Jordan and Robyn Nelson) Aireanna, Havalah, Robert Aiden (Robert and Hannah Findlay), Beckham (Levi and Cassie Nelson), and Hartley (Riley and Mariah Nelson). She is also survived by three sisters, Margaret and (Michael Hardin), Kathryn and (Rodney Kirchhoff), and Pamela and (Michael Thurber), and one brother Douglas and (Nancy Noller); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended cousins and relatives, and many friends from her Hebron High School graduating class, her years in McPherson, and her last years in Topeka. &nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Patty’s presence was strong and will continue with an enduring legacy.

Patricia Louise (Noller) Nelson

Pamela Sue Potter, who was born on May 3rd, 1968 in Phoenix, Arizona, ended her battle with cancer on April, 21st, 2025, at the age of 56. She passed peacefully in her home as she listened to one of her daughters softly play a collection of hymns.

Pamela is survived by her husband, Eric; her six children; Nathan, Rachel, Caitlin, Kersten, Caleb, and Annika; her four sisters; Sandy, Linda, Patricia, and Barbara; and countless relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Maxine.

Pamela deeply loved her family and made sure every person knew that every day. She devoted her life to caring and supporting not only her family, but everyone that she met. She was an inspiration to the thousands of students she saw in her teaching career, blessing each with her smile and patience. Pamela was a strong shoulder to cry on, a kind friend, a caring confidant, and gave the warmest of hugs. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through the hardest of trials, and even till death, she Endured to the End.

Her family will miss her, but look forward to the day when all can be reunited with her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am CST on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at the LDS chapel located at 845 South Ohio Street, Salina, KS 67401. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Pamela’s life.

Pamela Sue Potter

Michael Arthur Rausch, 80, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, with his wife, Diane, by his side at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Mike was in the insurance &amp; banking industry for many years and in the early 1990s, while working at Security Title, he purchased the business and owned it until December 2009.

Mike was born November 28, 1944, in McPherson, KS, the son of Carl Arthur and Alice Marie (Sjogren) Rausch.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1962 and continued his education at McPherson College, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration &amp; Management in 1966.&nbsp; He then served in the Kansas Air National Guard for six years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On June 11, 1966, Mike was united in marriage to Diane Louise Ebberts in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two sons, Jason and Jon.

Mike was a faithful member of the First Christian Church and longtime volunteer, historian, &amp; 2024’s Grand Marshal for McPherson County All Schools Day.&nbsp; For nearly 50 years (since 1974), serving countless hours, Mike had been one of those people behind the scenes making McPherson’s All Schools Day a reality.&nbsp; He was a past President’s Award recipient for McPherson Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards for the McPherson Museum and McPherson Hospital.&nbsp; He was a member of the Rotary Club International, Masonic Lodge #172, and the American Legion Post #24.&nbsp; He received a Citation of Merit from McPherson College and helped with high school and college football games on the chain gang.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Diane of the home; two sons, Jason (Monique) Rausch of Washington, IA and Jon (Jan) Rausch of McPherson, KS; brother, Craig (Mary) Rausch of McPherson, KS; sister, Missy (Harold) Curl of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, T.J. (Tara) Rausch, Ashley (Jonah) Walker, Cale Rausch, Connar Rausch, Jordan (Kellea) Martens, and Brandon (Brooke) Martens; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl &amp; Alice Rausch, and sister &amp; brother-in-law, Sonja &amp; Lynn Christy.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the First Christian Church.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 25, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.&nbsp; Burial with military honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be given to the First Christian Church, McPherson Museum, Hospice House (Hutchinson), or McPherson County All Schools Day in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

 </figure>Michael Arthur Rausch, 80, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, with his wife, Diane, by his side at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Mike was in the insurance &amp; banking industry for many years and in the early 1990s, while working at Security Title, he purchased the business and owned it until December 2009.Mike was born November 28, 1944, in McPherson, KS, the son of Carl Arthur and Alice Marie (Sjogren) Rausch.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1962 and continued his education at McPherson College, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration &amp; Management in 1966.&nbsp; He then served in the Kansas Air National Guard for six years, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.On June 11, 1966, Mike was united in marriage to Diane Louise Ebberts in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two sons, Jason and Jon.Mike was a faithful member of the First Christian Church and longtime volunteer, historian, &amp; 2024’s Grand Marshal for McPherson County All Schools Day.&nbsp; For nearly 50 years (since 1974), serving countless hours, Mike had been one of those people behind the scenes making McPherson’s All Schools Day a reality.&nbsp; He was a past President’s Award recipient for McPherson Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards for the McPherson Museum and McPherson Hospital.&nbsp; He was a member of the Rotary Club International, Masonic Lodge #172, and the American Legion Post #24.&nbsp; He received a Citation of Merit from McPherson College and helped with high school and college football games on the chain gang.He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Diane of the home; two sons, Jason (Monique) Rausch of Washington, IA and Jon (Jan) Rausch of McPherson, KS; brother, Craig (Mary) Rausch of McPherson, KS; sister, Missy (Harold) Curl of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, T.J. Rita Marie (Morrow) Wiegert,&nbsp;Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, passed away on April 12, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1959.&nbsp;

Rita Marie Wiegert was a beacon of love and light, touching every life she encountered with her warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness. From a young age, Rita was a dedicated and hard worker, always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear. She had a rare and beautiful gift for making people feel truly seen and deeply loved.

Rita was the devoted wife of Bryan Wiegert and the proud and loving mother of Kimberly and Ricky. Her role as a mom was one she cherished, and she extended that love beyond her own family. Many were welcomed into her home and heart as extra sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews — a testament to her generous spirit.

Whether near or far, she never missed a moment to support and celebrate her grandchildren, Mathew, 26, Tyler, 25, Mackenzie, 22, Christopher, 19, and Gabriel, 12. Being a grandmother was one of Rita’s greatest joys.Her family always came first, and she never hesitated to support those she loved.

Rita is now reunited in heaven with her daughter Kim and many other loved ones who went before her. Though she will be missed beyond measure, we can take comfort in knowing she is free from pain and surrounded by eternal love.

Although she suffered with asthma all her life, she tried many different jobs, but couldn’t keep them very long. But each time after she recovered, she would try again. This showed her never-ending strength and commitment.

Though Rita faced many hardships and tragedies in life, she met each with strength, grace, and her signature sense of humor. She trusted in her faith, believed in finding the silver lining and carried herself with a humble pride through every chapter of her journey. Her laugh was truly infectious, a sound that could lift any room and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Rita’s legacy is one of boundless love, laughter, and compassion. She left this world a better place simply by being in it. Her presence will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have met her.

In her honor, we encourage everyone to take some time to share a favorite memory, shed a tear for the incredible woman she was, and then go to Dairy Queen and enjoy a sweet treat, just as she would have wanted.

A celebration of life will be held at the Friendship Center in Indian Village at 4 pm to 9 pm on May 2, 2025. Friends and family are all invited.

Rita Marie (Morrow) Wiegert

Pauline Randolph, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, joined the love of her life Wayne Randolph in heaven on April 21, 2025, passing away in her sleep at Lincoln Community Care Center in Hugo, Colorado. Born on March 7, 1930, the oldest child of Richard F. and Magdaline (Kreutzer) Brungardt, she grew up on a farm south of Hoxie with her siblings Almetha, Marcella, Paul, Marvin, Viola, Imogene, Mary, Leo, and Thelma.

After graduating from Monument High School in Monument, Kansas, Pauline attended Fort Hays State University for a year. Pauline spent time as a teacher (for a year), a doctor’s receptionist, a high school cafeteria cook, and a baby sitter.

On September 18, 1950, Pauline married Robert Wayne Randolph in Grainfield, Kansas. Together they raised four children, Richard, Robert, Dianna, and Cynthia in Hoxie and nurtured and loved eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. A woman of many interests she loved to bake (those M&amp;M oatmeal cookies were to die for) along with crocheting and doing needlepoint. She loved polka dancing and dancing in general so much that she told Wayne when they were dating “if you want to be my boyfriend, you have to learn to dance.” So, he did, and they did— dance for the joy of it whenever the spirit moved them even on Sunday mornings.

Pauline (Polly to her friends and family) was known for being a good friend and coworker, her generous and kind heart, her infectious laugh, being the straight “man” for Wayne’s sense of humor, and being a very lenient grandmother to her eight grandchildren (oh, the shenanigans that went on in the basement of her home on Noble Street). Pauline and Wayne loved hosting and attending family reunions. Family was extremely important to her.

Pauline is survived by siblings Almetha Mendenhall, Imogene Thomas, and Mary Smith; her children Richard (Yvonne) Randolph of Surprise, AZ, Robert (Linda) Randolph of Hoxie, Cynthia (Jeff) Myers of Eads, and son-in-law Mike Matthews of Hoxie; her grandchildren Stacie Taylor, Shelley (Warren) Johnson, Ryan (Hanna) Randolph, Kelsey (Greg) Havran, Matthew (Sarah) Randolph, Christopher (Kathryn) Matthews, Candace Myers, and Adam Myers; 19 great grandchildren Josh (Ashli), Cayle (Jill), Peyton (Macy), Alexis (Danny), Macey, Gabriel, Chloe, Haven, Matthias, Jayden, Riley, Joe, Cambria, Caler, Emmylia, Linus Wayne, Hayden, Theodore, and Oliver; and 4 great great grandchildren Kadence, Harper, Jaxon, and Kendall.

Pauline is now reunited in heaven with her parents, her husband Wayne, her daughter Dianna Matthews, and her siblings Marcella Bullard, Paul, Marvin, Viola Jacobs, Leo, and Thelma Krallman who preceded her in death.

The visitation will be held from 3-7 at Mickey Leopold Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27 with Rosary to follow at 7. Chris A. Regnier, 62 years of age, formerly of Concordia passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at his home in Andover, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born on June 9, 1962 in Concordia, Kansas to Warren Regnier and Sylvia Dehrkoop.

Chris attended Concordia High School.&nbsp;

He was married to Sheila Sue Mendenhall.&nbsp;

Chris worked for Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas for 34 years. He was a member of the Machinist Union 774.

Chris enjoyed cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs, and giving you grief if you weren’t a Chiefs fan. He loved making new meals and sharing recipes.

Chris loved to make people laugh and always had a smile on his face. He loved having bonfires and listening to his favorite bands while enjoying a nice cold beer. Chris was an avid Wheel of Fortune at home contestant. His favorite thing of all was spending time with his wife and family.&nbsp;

Chris attended Life.Church in East Wichita, Kansas.

Chris A. Regnier

Alan Donald Ostermann, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away quietly on the morning of April 8, 2025. He was 78 years old. In his final hours, Alan was surrounded in love by his Wife of 54 years, Kaye, his 3 children, his 2 brothers, and his older sister.

Alan was born to Donald and Elda Ostermann on February 7, 1947. He was born in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, in the middle of a winter blizzard. As the story goes, unable to get to the hospital, Alan was placed in the oven for incubation. A literal “bun in the oven”!

Alan spent his younger years attending parochial school at Bethlehem Lutheran. He spent his formative years growing up on, and working on the family farm. Alan’s childhood on the farm shaped his early life’s passion, raising and riding horses. Alan loved and enjoyed sports. The love of which never left. He grew up bleeding purple for his beloved K-State Wildcat teams. Alan would later take up the game of golf. Alan attended Sylvan Grove High School and went on to attend Kansas State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science. He was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and a leader of his class of Kansas State Reserve Officer Training Corps (R.O.T.C.).

Directly after college graduation, Alan took his commission in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, branched as a Transportation Officer. Alan’s first duty station was the United States Military Academy, “West Point” in New York. Alan went on to be promoted to 1st Lieutenant and was transferred to his final duty station at Fort McClellan, Alabama, where he would meet and marry his beautiful wife, Kaye Suzanne Meyer, also a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. On April 10, 1971 (54 years), Alan and Kaye were married on post in a beautiful military wedding complete with saber arch attended to by his cousin/best man Dru Richard, also a 1st Lieutenant.

After resigning their commissions honorably in 1971, Alan and Kaye moved back to Alan’s hometown of Sylvan Grove, Kansas. Alan took a position at the Sylvan State Bank, where he worked until 1992.

Alan was extremely active in the Sylvan Grove community. He and Kaye were extremely active in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Lucas, KS). Alan was involved with and actively participated in the Lion’s Club, the American Legion (Post 359), and the Saddle Club. He volunteered with the local Fire Department as a fire-fighter, and EMT. Alan, at one point, reaching the rank of assistant fire chief. The busy couple also had and raised 3 children, and in 1992, moved to Katy (Houston), Texas.

In Texas Alan worked in insurance, banking, car sales, and auto financing. Alan and Kaye were extremely active with their congregations (dates unknown) at Memorial Drive Lutheran (Houston, TX); Living Word Lutheran (Katy, TX), and finally Memorial Lutheran (Katy, TX). The couple moved back to Abilene, Kansas in 2016, where they were very active with Faith Lutheran Church. Alan was also a member and active officer with the American Legion, Post 39, Abilene, Kansas. Alan was honored, in his home, by the local post members, with a lifetime achievement award. Alan and Kaye were moved again in 2024 and have since resided at the Bella Rose Retirement Community in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Alan’s loving spirit is carried on by his wife of 54 years, Kaye; their 3 children Lisa Maydian (Dale); Nathan Ostermann (Krista), and Seth Ostermann (Sarah); his siblings Linda Laird (Dick), Jerry Ostermann (Becky), Scott Ostermann (Chris); nine grandchildren; and many wonderful nephews and nieces. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Elda Ostermann.

To honor Alan’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 119 E 3rd St, Sylvan Grove, Kansas. There will be a family visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the church preceding the 11:00 service on May 3. All are welcome to attend the graveside service following directly afterwards at the Sylvan Grove Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center located at 109 S Main Street, Sylvan Grove, Kansas.

Alan battled Parkinson’s for the better part of a decade and was a fighter to the end. Part of this fight was keeping his body fit and active. One of, if not the main way Alan did this was by attending the Impact Sports &amp;Fitness Gym, 418 N Broadway, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Because of a generous fund set up at the gym for people with Parkinson’s, Alan and his “team” (a surprisingly large group of others with Parkinson’s), were able to attend the gym and participate in an intensive physical training program. This program provided the equipment, and most importantly, personal trainers who tailored specific exercises for him and his “team” that actively worked against the symptoms of Parkinson’s. This program was provided to Alan and his “team”, free of charge.

In his final hours, Alan was surrounded in love by his Wife of 54 years, Kaye, his 3 children, his 2 brothers, and his older sister.Alan was born to Donald and Elda Ostermann on February 7, 1947. He was born in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, in the middle of a winter blizzard. As the story goes, unable to get to the hospital, Alan was placed in the oven for incubation. A literal “bun in the oven”!Alan spent his younger years attending parochial school at Bethlehem Lutheran. He spent his formative years growing up on, and working on the family farm. Alan’s childhood on the farm shaped his early life’s passion, raising and riding horses. Alan loved and enjoyed sports. The love of which never left. He grew up bleeding purple for his beloved K-State Wildcat teams. Alan would later take up the game of golf. Alan attended Sylvan Grove High School and went on to attend Kansas State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science. He was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and a leader of his class of Kansas State Reserve Officer Training Corps (R.O.T.C.).Directly after college graduation, Alan took his commission in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, branched as a Transportation Officer. Alan’s first duty station was the United States Military Academy, “West Point” in New York. Alan went on to be promoted to 1st Lieutenant and was transferred to his final duty station at Fort McClellan, Alabama, where he would meet and marry his beautiful wife, Kaye Suzanne Meyer, also a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. On April 10, 1971 (54 years), Alan and Kaye were married on post in a beautiful military wedding complete with saber arch attended to by his cousin/best man Dru Richard, also a 1st Lieutenant.After resigning their commissions honorably in 1971, Alan and Kaye moved back to Alan’s hometown of Sylvan Grove, Kansas. Alan took a position at the Sylvan State Bank, where he worked until 1992.Alan was extremely active in the Sylvan Grove community. He and Kaye were extremely active in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Lucas, KS). Alan was involved with and actively participated in the Lion’s Club, the American Legion (Post 359), and the Saddle Club. He volunteered with the local Fire Department as a fire-fighter, and EMT. Alan, at one point, reaching the rank of assistant fire chief. The busy couple also had and raised 3 children, and in 1992, moved to Katy (Houston), Texas.In Texas Alan worked in insurance, banking, car sales, and auto financing. Alan and Kaye were extremely active with their congregations (dates unknown) at Memorial Drive Lutheran (Houston, TX); Living Word Lutheran (Katy, TX), and finally Memorial Lutheran (Katy, TX). Alan Donald Ostermann

Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Crowder, 60, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 14th, 2025.

Kenny was born in Salina, Kansas on November 24, 1964, to Sharon Kay (Carter) Crowder and Melvin Ray Crowder, Jr.

In his free time, he loved to fish, go to car shows, and be with his family. He was a talented artist and even tattooed a few of his family members.

Survivors include his fiancé, April Teakell, of Salina, Kansas; a daughter, Jessica Herbel (Dylan), of Westfall, Kansas; a son, Chris Johnson (Georgia), of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Teresa Bates (Matthew), of Salina, Kansas; and Sarah Lee (Marcus), of Salina, Kansas.

Kenny is also survived by grandchildren, Dakotah, Micheal, and Jenna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jo Crowder.

Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday, April 25th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.

A family burial will be at Timber Creek Cemetery in Wakefield, Kansas at a later date.

Plainville resident J.D. Brunnemer passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS at the age of 90.

J.D. Brunnemer was born July 27, 1934, in Cawker City, KS, the son of Lester Brunnemer and Evelyn (Haines) Brunnemer. J.D. grew up in Cawker City where he graduated from and played multiple sports at Cawker City High School. He worked at his dad’s gas station for many years. After high school, J.D. attended Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) where he played football and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history education. While attending KWU, he met and fell in love with his future wife, Henrietta Prochaska. After graduation, J.D. taught school in Randolph, KS. While teaching, J.D. also attended Kansas State University where he obtained a master’s degree in education administration. J.D. was drafted into the United States Army in 1957. He served in the Army and Army Reserve; he was honorably discharged in 1963. He was also a member of Cawker City Masonic Lodge #125.

J.D. also taught school in Canton and Kensington and then worked as principal in Belleville and Morrowville, KS. He eventually became Superintendent of USD 270 in Plainville, KS where he retired after 21 years. After retirement he also served as superintendent of USD 326 in Logan, KS.

J.D. loved sports and the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains. He spent many summers driving his jeep to Colorado and/or Utah where he conquered many 4WD trails through the mountains and over the high mountain passes.

J.D. and Henrietta Prochaska were united in marriage on May 26, 1957, in Simpson, KS. To this union, two children were born and both survive, Jay Brunnemer of Plainville, KS and Jill (Brunnemer) Wells and husband Dan of Hays, KS. He had one granddaughter, Haley (Wells) Milligan and husband Dan of Manhattan, KS. Two great grandchildren, Maverick Milligan and Max Milligan and one step-great-grandchild, Jackson Milligan also survive. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and an infant son.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville. Graveside will follow at 3:30 PM at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City, KS. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home in Plainville.

Michael (Zeke) Chartier, 55 years of age, of rural Concordia passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at NCK Medical Center in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was born on September 30, 1969, in Concordia, Kansas to Rex and Jo Ann (Baggett) Chartier.

Zeke was a graduate of Clifton-Clyde High School in the Class of 1988.

Zeke was the owner/operator of MacFab in Rural Concordia, Kansas.

His hobbies&nbsp;were ranger rides, shooting the breeze with all the neighbors, and last but not least he loved a good high-card game.

Zeke is survived by his brother, Steven Chartier (Brenda), 2 sisters, Connie Cash, sister, Jennifer Williams, 3 nephews, Nicholas Chartier (Kristy), Josh Chartier and Coady Chartier, great nephew, Tanner Meade and great niece, Tessa Chartier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Ann Chartier.

Michael (Zeke) Chartier

Donald J. Olson, born on January 16, 1930, in Streeter, North Dakota, passed away on March 28, 2025, in Concordia, Kansas. He was 95 years old.

Donald grew up on a farm in North Dakota, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the outdoors—qualities that would remain with him throughout his life. His early years on the farm shaped his character and instilled in him a lifelong love of nature and rural life.

He proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Army for three years, including one and a half years stationed in Korea during the Korean War. During his military service, Donald earned several decorations for valor and dedication, including three Bronze Stars—a testament to his courage and commitment.

After returning from military service, Donald built a life grounded in family and tradition. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie Olson; his parents, Henry and Pearl Olson; and his brothers Robert, James, Frank, and Kennith Olson. Their memories remained close to him throughout his life.

Donald is survived by his daughter Barbara Kortman and her husband William Kortman; grandchildren Jennifer Stangle (Jason), Jeffrey Kortman, and Pamela KorreaNelson and her wife Shannon KorreaNelson; great-granddaughters Aniqua Nelson, Sasha Stangle, and Emily Stangle; and sister-in-law Elaine Olson. His legacy continues through them and the many lives he touched.

In addition to his devotion to family and country, Donald found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting—activities that connected him to both nature and community. He also had a passion for billiards, spending many hours at the table with friends or family.

Donald’s long life was marked by resilience, service, and quiet strength. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Donald J. Olson

Marilyn Sue Eaton passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Salina, Kansas. She was born on February 20, 1942 in Superior, Nebraska. She was the second of four children born to Gordon C. and Katherine Alice (Keeler) Grimes.

Marilyn began school in Montrose, Kansas and then attended Esbon and Mankato schools. She earned her diploma from Mankato High School. Marilyn was most importantly a wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked various places including the dental office, local restaurants, Coast to Coast, and the Mankato and Rock Hills High School Library.

She married Leroy Eaton in Fairbury, Nebraska on February 8, 1960. They welcomed three children into their union: Diana, Alan, and Michael. They made their home, worked, and raised their family in Mankato, Kansas until moving to Salina, Kansas to be near family in October 2023.

Marilyn was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in Mankato, Kansas, often assisting with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting and crafting, and was an avid reader. Most of all she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Eaton, parents, and a sister, Margaret Colson.

She will be missed by her children, Diana Boley (John) of Salina, KS, Alan Eaton of Medical Lake, WA, and Michael Eaton (Linda) of Canton, KS; grandchildren, Ross Jeffery (Carrie), Jaci Firner (Evan), Cortney Jeffery, Dustin Boley, Kevin Boley, Cody Eaton (Cindy), Zachary Eaton, Jessica Eaton, and Heather Winkler (Brady); 18 great grandchildren; siblings, John Grimes (Rella), Robert Grimes (Genevieve); brother in law, Richard Colson; and a host of family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato on April 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.  </figure>Marilyn Sue Eaton passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Salina, Kansas. She was born on February 20, 1942 in Superior, Nebraska. She was the second of four children born to Gordon C. and Katherine Alice (Keeler) Grimes.Marilyn began school in Montrose, Kansas and then attended Esbon and Mankato schools. She earned her diploma from Mankato High School. Marilyn was most importantly a wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked various places including the dental office, local restaurants, Coast to Coast, and the Mankato and Rock Hills High School Library.She married Leroy Eaton in Fairbury, Nebraska on February 8, 1960. They welcomed three children into their union: Diana, Alan, and Michael. They made their home, worked, and raised their family in Mankato, Kansas until moving to Salina, Kansas to be near family in October 2023.Marilyn was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in Mankato, Kansas, often assisting with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting and crafting, and was an avid reader. Most of all she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Eaton, parents, and a sister, Margaret Colson.She will be missed by her children, Diana Boley (John) of Salina, KS, Alan Eaton of Medical Lake, WA, and Michael Eaton (Linda) of Canton, KS; grandchildren, Ross Jeffery (Carrie), Jaci Firner (Evan), Cortney Jeffery, Dustin Boley, Kevin Boley, Cody Eaton (Cindy), Zachary Eaton, Jessica Eaton, and Heather Winkler (Brady); 18 great grandchildren; siblings, John Grimes (Rella), Robert Grimes (Genevieve); brother in law, Richard Colson; and a host of family and friends.Memorial services will be held at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato on April 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Marilyn Sue Eaton

Joyce Jeannine Lindholm entered eternal rest on April 14th, 2025, at 10:34 a.m. at Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas. She was 72 years old. Joyce lived a life devoted to serving the Lord and caring for those in need. Her heart for ministry led her to serve in many ways—through puppetry, children’s church, and a dog rescue program, she shared love, faith, and compassion with everyone she met. Born on September 3rd, 1952, in Abilene, Kansas, Joyce was the daughter of Francis and Betty Steele, owners of the Wagon Wheel Café. Her youth was filled with memories of helping at the family restaurant, where she learned the value of hard work and hospitality. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1970 and was proud to be crowned the school’s ping-pong champion during her senior year. On September 16th, 1971, Joyce met the love of her life, Allen Lindholm, on a blind date to a Chicago concert. They married on June 3rd, 1972, and shared 52 beautiful years together. During their marriage, they raised four beloved children and created a legacy of love that lives on in their eight grandchildren. Joyce had a creative spirit—she loved singing, writing songs, playing the guitar, and crafting heartfelt poetry. But above all, she treasured time with her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Allen Lindholm; daughters Jenny Rebecca Horner (Gary) of Kearney, Nebraska, and Missy Slagle (Jason) of Salina, Kansas; and eight cherished grandchildren: Kylie, Chaise, Allison, Emily, Samantha, Elijah, Chloe, and Sadie. She is also survived by two sisters: Betty Jo Hoadley (Don) and Sally Ann Koelling (Michael). Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Betty Steele; three brothers: Richard, Roger, and Fred Steele; and two of her children, Katherine Ann McNinch and Joshua Allen Lindholm. Joyce’s life was a beautiful testimony of faith, family, and service. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:00 to 7:00PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington Lindsborg, KS 67456.

Joyce Jeannine Lindholm

Doris Lorene (Sawatzky) Nikkel, 92, died Monday, April 14, 2025. She was born January 3, 1933, to Abraham A. Sawatzky and Agnes Nettie Nachtigal, in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

The youngest of 10 children, Lorene grew up on the family farm four miles south and three-quarter miles west of Weatherford, Oklahoma. She attended the Missouri School #55, located four miles south and three-quarter miles east of Weatherford. After eight years of schooling, she then attended Weatherford High School, graduating with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Lorene was employed by the TG&amp;Y five and dime store until her marriage.

On March 1, 1952, Lorene married Morton Kenneth Nikkel, at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Wichita Falls, Texas. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. James H. Landes, pastor of the church. After marriage, Lorene and her husband moved to Denver, Colorado, for three years while her husband was serving in the United States Air Force. Two daughters were born into their family, Corliss Marlene and Cheryl Lynn. Lorene's husband was then transferred to the Alconbury Airbase in England, where Lorene and the two daughters soon joined him. They were eventually transferred to Great Falls, Montana. Lorene worked as a receptionist at a chiropractic office until her husband received his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force. In 1959, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Lorene's husband attended chiropractic college, graduating in 1964. The family soon made their way in 1965 to Clay Center, Kansas, where they set up their office and Lorene worked beside her husband and as his receptionist and assistant until their retirement in 1991.

After retirement, Lorene and Morton traveled to all 50 states as well as many countries around the world. Throughout their marriage, Lorene served as the pianist and organist at various churches that she and her husband attended, and continued to play both instruments after retirement.

Lorene is preceded in death by her husband, Morton Kenneth Nikkel on September 26, 2023; her parents; and her nine siblings.

Survivors include her daughters, Corliss Klinkner (Mel) of Salina and Cheryl Edwards (Glenn) of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Daniel Klinkner (Kali), Melissa Pogue (Jeff), Sarah Bardon (Richard); and one great grandchild, Jude Bardon.

Clara Mary (Staudinger) Stithem of Salina passed away on April 15, 2025 at age 81.&nbsp; She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on March 17, 1944, the eldest daughter of Anton and Agnes (Zeman) Staudinger. Clara grew up on a farm near Beaver, Kansas and attended St. Joseph Grade School in Beaver through 8th grade. She then attended Prep School with the Dominican Sisters at the Immaculate Conception Convent in Great Bend, Kansas for two years before graduating from Hoisington High School in Hoisington, Kansas.

Clara attended Brown Mackie Business School in Salina and after graduation accepted a Federal Civil Service Position as secretary at Fort Leavenworth Army Base in Leavenworth, Kansas.&nbsp; After two years, she transferred to Shilling Air Force Base in Salina as a Base Supply Accounting Clerk and then transferred to work in the finance office as payroll clerk for the state Soil Conservation Service.

On May 8, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jack Gail Stithem. After the arrival of their twins in 1971, she became a stay-at-home mother and caretaker for several other children of teachers at St. Mary's Grade School in Salina.&nbsp; After the M&amp;M twins entered school, she began working at St. Mary's as the school secretary and bookkeeper. In that role, she helped care for the staff, students and families for nearly 25 years. In 2000, she was asked to become the Executive Secretary for the Bishop of the Salina Catholic Diocese, a position she held until September of 2018 when she retired after serving four Bishops and two Diocesan Administrators. She loved her priests and her Bishops, and she truly valued religious vocations.

Clara was a fan of good church music, Elvis, ice cream and house plants. She enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren and their friends excel and make a difference in the world. She was honored to help the children and teachers at St. Mary's Grade School and the religious men and women of the Diocese of Salina. She was blessed to travel on a Holy Land pilgrimage and to Rome for the installation of one of her Bishops.&nbsp;She was devoted to her Saturday night shift at the Adoration Chapel, the Rosary and the Blessed Mother, knew the value of prayer and was extremely active in her parish and diocese. She believed in angels and had many on her side during tough times. Even as she lost her memory, she knew how to love and how to make others around her feel loved.

Clara dearly loved her husband and her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, godmother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor.&nbsp; Special thanks to the staff and nurses at OCCK, Accessible, Gentiva Hospice and Cedarhurst. Thanks for your gentle kindness in helping Clara be comfortable in her last days. Survivors include her husband Jack, daughter Marsha (Christopher) Kalkowski of Omaha; son Marvin (Brandi) Stithem of Mulvane; four grandchildren: Logan (Katie) Kalkowski, Kadi Stithem (Michael) Hogan, Cole (fiancee Alyssa Moser) Kalkowski, Emma Stithem (David) Kanaby; two great grandchildren: Faustina Hogan and Charles Kalkowski. Yarrell Chester Beans

Paul M. Sweat, age 53, of Hutchinson, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his home in Hutchinson with his companion, Carla by his side.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on August 28, 1971, in Belleville, KS to Loren M. &amp; Deanna L. (Carter) Sweat.

He graduated from Pike Valley High School in 1989.&nbsp;&nbsp;He later graduated from Cloud County Community College in 1995 and then received his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University in Ag Econ in 1996.

He worked for Helena Chemical as a branch manager until his health forced him to retire.

He was involved with several agricultural associations and was a life member of the KSU Alumni Association.

Paul was an avid car collector and he and Carla enjoyed camping together.

He is survived by his companion, Carla Bergstrom, Hutchinson, KS; his parents, Loren &amp; Deanna Sweat, Jamestown, KS; sister, Lynda High (Tim), Topeka, KS and their children, Elvira &amp; Doran High; brother-in-law, Shawn Schweitzer and his children, Mattox, Mya and Jaxton Schweitzer and his special littles, Indy &amp; Miles.

Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Cynthia Schweitzer.

(Carter) Sweat.He graduated from Pike Valley High School in 1989.&nbsp;&nbsp;He later graduated from Cloud County Community College in 1995 and then received his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University in Ag Econ in 1996.He worked for Helena Chemical as a branch manager until his health forced him to retire.He was involved with several agricultural associations and was a life member of the KSU Alumni Association.Paul was an avid car collector and he and Carla enjoyed camping together.He is survived by his companion, Carla Bergstrom, Hutchinson, KS; his parents, Loren &amp; Deanna Sweat, Jamestown, KS; sister, Lynda High (Tim), Topeka, KS and their children, Elvira &amp; Doran High; brother-in-law, Shawn Schweitzer and his children, Mattox, Mya and Jaxton Schweitzer and his special littles, Indy &amp; Miles.Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Cynthia Schweitzer.
