Dennis R. Douglas, 82 years of age, of Clyde passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde.&nbsp; He was born on November 14, 1940 in Clyde, Kansas to Roland and Teresa (Caron) Douglas.

Dennis was a 1958 graduate of Clyde High School.

On September 5, 1959 he married Sherril Brosseau at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde.&nbsp; To this union two boys were born, Chris and Eric.

Dennis worked as a meat cutter at the Clyde Ideal Market for 17 years.&nbsp; He then managed Makin Bacon of Clifton for 17 years. He retired from Clifton CO-OP where he drove the feed truck.&nbsp; Dennis and his brother Louis also owned and operated 4-D Fur Farm in Clyde for many years.

He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the Clyde Golf Association where he served as past president.&nbsp; Dennis volunteered his time in helping maintain and care of the Clyde Golf course for several years.

Dennis enjoyed, hunting, fishing, trapping, golfing, woodworking and was an avid K-State fan.&nbsp; He was a gifted woodcraftsman where he made nativity scenes, bird houses and various wood projects, and attended craft fairs.

Dennis is survived by his wife Sherri Douglas, Clyde, KS; two sons, Chris Douglas (Kim) of Hutchinson, KS, Eric Douglas (Jenni) of Bel Aire, KS; four grandchildren, Lindsey Henning (Steven), DeLand, FL; Mackinzie Blake (Trevor), Hutchinson, KS; Austin Douglas and friend Rebekah, Wichita, KS; Jackson Douglas, Denton, TX; great-granddaughter, Rylee Henning, DeLand, FL; sister-in-law Karen LeBlanc, So. Hutchinson, KS; two brothers-in-law, A.J. Brosseau (Becky), &nbsp;Mission Viejo, CA; Robert Brosseau (Shirley) Ammon, ID; sister-in-law Maxine Boling of Clyde, KS; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parent, Roland and Teresa, father and mother-in-law Ralph and Helen Brosseau, brother Louis Douglas, brothers-in-law Rick Brosseau and Don LeBlanc; sister-in-law Sheri Brosseau, his nieces Ali, Kathy, and Carol, a nephew, Steven.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Chaput Mortuary.&nbsp; The family will receive friends after the Rosary service. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde. The family has asked that everyone dress casual for the memorial service in memory of Dennis.&nbsp; There will be a luncheon served following the graveside service at the Church.

Rosalita M. (Rottinghaus) Skeels, age 85, longtime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at her home in Concordia.&nbsp; She was born in St. Benedict on January 5, 1937 to Alvin and Rose (Haverkamp) Rottinghaus.

Rosie graduated from Marymount School of Nursing in Salina, KS in 1958.

On May 4, 1959 she married Kenneth D. Skeels at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, Kansas.&nbsp; To this union four children were born, DeAnn, David, Douglas, and Dana.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.&nbsp; Rosie had a deep passion of caring for others.&nbsp; She worked in nursing until the age of 75.

Rosie enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her family especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she was always excited to see.

She is survived by her husband Kenny Skeels, Concordia, KS; daughter DeAnn Romberger (Richard), Abilene, KS; son David Skeels (Nikki), Shawnee, KS; son Douglas Skeels, Concordia, KS; Dana Santos (Marcus), Littleton, CO; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Elmer Rottinghaus (Nancy) and Regis Rottinghaus, two sisters, MaryAnn Dressman and Millie Heinen.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Rose, brothers Wilbert, Leonard, Albert, Justin and Galen Rottinghaus, sister Dorothy Fangman.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.&nbsp; A rosary service will be prayed 6:00 p.m., on Thursday evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.&nbsp; Family will greet friends after the Rosary.

John Wesley Willey III, Topeka, KS, left this world to join his beloved wife on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 84. He was born October 2nd, 1938 in Solomon, KS, the only child to John Wesley Willey, Jr. and Henrietta M Wolfe. 

A graduate of Solomon High School, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Arlene P Haymond of Salina, KS on June 5, 1960. They lived in Solomon for 31 years and together welcomed three children: a son, John IV, and twin daughters, Linda and Brenda.

In 1990, John and Arlene moved to Abilene, KS. Sadly, Arlene passed away on Dec 2, 2002 and John moved to Topeka, KS shortly after this, where he resided with Mary Wright. John began his lifelong career as a civil engineer with Wilson and Company Engineering and Architects, Salina, KS, at the age of 18. Notably, his first engineering assignment was the design and construction of I-70 at Abilene. Over the next four decades, he was involved in major infrastructure improvements in the mid- and southwest region of the U.S. and for the City of Abilene. In 1989 he was hired as Abilene’s City Engineer. He spent the next 12 years there before retiring in 2001. His most significant contribution was the construction of the first reverse osmosis municipal water treatment plant in the state of Kansas.

He was a Freemason and served as secretary of Solomon City Lodge for 25 years and was a former officer of the Grand Lodge of Kansas. Attending the annual Solomon lodge picnic each June with his family was one event he perpetually looked forward to. He was a man of few words with a quiet, witty sense of humor. Incredibly wise and intelligent, he was the kind of person that when he spoke, everyone listened. Although he was quite stubborn and independent himself, he would drop everything to do anything for his loved ones. An avid NASCAR fan, John often enjoyed a nap with the race playing in the background. His love for his various dogs and cats throughout his life was apparent, and anyone who knew him will always picture him in his wardrobe staples—cowboy boots and sweaters year-round. John and Arlene were their grandchildren’s greatest fans, cheering at every sporting or musical event they were able to attend and taking them on countless day-trip vacations including tours of Big Brutus, old steam engines, airplanes, and fishing. He was known as the grandpa who believed in donuts and Oreo cookies for breakfast and he always had some kind of candy or cookie to bring each time he visited. John was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene.

He leaves behind his son John (Jason) Willey IV, Topeka, KS; Linda (Joe) Duntz, Manhattan, KS; Brenda (Mike)Yamamoto, Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren: Dustin, Ashley, TJ, James, and Andrew; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Solomon, on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.

John D. Gregory, 70, of Wichita died on November 25,2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. John was born John DeRoam Gregory to Sylvia Patricia Wilhoit and Truman Gregory on October 28, 1952, in Osborne, Kansas. 

As an only child, he grew up helping his father on the farm in Woodston, Kansas. 

John attended primary school in Woodston, Kansas and later, John graduated from Stockton High school in 1970 after Woodston closed due to low enrollment. John attended Fort Hays State University from 1970-1973 graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He was an active member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.

He married his college sweetheart, Kathyrn R. Rohrbough of Scott City, Kansas on March 2, 1974. John worked for the Great Bend Tribune, Osborne County Farmer Newspaper, Brush Art, and Arrow Printing Company.

He is survived by his daughters Robin Gregory of Oklahoma, and Crystal and husband Nathan Elliott and two grandchildren, William and Halle of Wichita, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his wife Kathy on June 9, 2022.

John was a member of the Andale Catholic Church. John is known in the Salina area community for his work at Arrow Printing Company as an account executive. He was an active 4-H leader in Saline County in photography approximately from 1990-2010.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1st, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 2nd, at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2nd, at Woodston Cemetery, Woodston, Kansas.

Mabel Henrietta Warren Mase was born August 29, 1918, to Vivian and Etta Flentie Vautravers, in Centralia, KS.&nbsp; She passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Mabel grew up on a farm near Centralia, surrounded by five siblings and extended family.&nbsp; As a girl, she enjoyed school and was eager for it every day.

Mabel graduated from Centralia High School in 1936, then attended Kansas State College where she earned her teaching certificate.&nbsp; During her second year of college, her family moved to a farm south of Ada, KS.&nbsp; Upon receiving her teaching certificate, she taught at a rural school just north of Minneapolis.

Mabel and Carroll Warren were married May 5, 1941. Jean Anne was born March 29, 1943, followed by Laurel Beth on December 24, 1946.

Mabel loved being a homemaker, wife, and mother.&nbsp; She also retained her love of learning and earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She taught briefly in Salina, then two years in Ada before teaching third grade in Minneapolis for 17 years.

Mabel earned her master’s degree in special education from Kansas State University in 1970 after which she taught in Minneapolis then at Hawthorne Elementary School in Salina until her retirement in 1981.&nbsp; Mabel loved teaching, and she loved her students.

In the sixties and early seventies, Mabel’s family increased by two sons-in-law, Bob Griffin and Robert Cudney; and three grandchildren, Todd Griffin and Jeff and Melissa Cudney.

Following Carroll’s death in 1983, Mabel spent a year as a Pi Beta Phi housemother at UNM in Albuquerque.&nbsp;

In March of 1985, Mabel married Wayne Mase and they made their home in Salina.&nbsp; Her family grew with a stepson, Gerald and MaryLu Mase and a stepdaughter, Norma and Roger Craft; and seven step-grandchildren.

During her retirement years, Mabel remained active in Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association.&nbsp; She loved to play golf and bridge and she volunteered with St. Stephens Ministry, Meals on Wheels, and Reach to Recovery.

Throughout her life, Mabel enjoyed activities with the local ladies.&nbsp; She loved entertaining and was a gracious hostess.&nbsp; Mabel enjoyed staying in touch with former neighbors through the Solomon Valley Sunflowers.

Mabel was blessed to have eight great-grandchildren, Stuart and Grant Griffin, Elijah, Emory, Annalee, and Bodie Cudney and Joshua and Emily McClendon; seven step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and numeours step-great-great-grandchildren.

After Wayne passed away, Mabel moved to an apartment at the Salina Presbyterian Manor and to assisted living in 2021.&nbsp; During her years at the Manor, Mabel continued to volunteer and make many friends.

Mabel’s greatest joy was being with her family and enjoying time together.&nbsp;

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Marvin, Paul, Alice, and Eldon; husbands Carroll and Wayne; daughter Jean; and stepson Gerald Mase.

Mabel is survived by her brother Ralph and Sue Vautravers; daughter Beth and Robert Cudney; son-in-law Bob and Barbara Griffin; step-daughter-in-law MaryLu Mase; stepdaughter Norma and Roger Craft; grandchildren Todd and Rachel Griffin, Jeff and Mindi Cudney, and Melissa and John McClendon; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Lola Mae Boyd, 82, of Paradise, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

Lola was born November 18, 1940, in Osborne County, Kansas.&nbsp; She was 
one of five children born to Russell and Grace (Finch) Boyd.&nbsp; She grew 
up in Natoma, Kansas, and graduated from Natoma High School.&nbsp;

Lola was a manager for Autozone Store in Omaha, Nebraska, and a 
manager for Radio Shack.&nbsp; Before that she was a draftsman for REMCO.&nbsp; 
She lived in Omaha from 1991 to 2008, then she moved to Paradise.&nbsp; Later
 in life, she helped with the music department for USD 407.&nbsp; She enjoyed 
playing the piano for local schools and churches.&nbsp; She was a member of 
the Melony Cousins that played on the Great Bend Television station.&nbsp; 
She loved her community and was always willing to do whatever she could 
to help.

Lola’s surviving family include her two daughters, Teresa Meyers 
(Rodney) of WaKeeney, Kansas and Stephanie Scheck (Kennith) of Russell, 
Kansas; two sons, Wade Winder of Paradise, Kansas and Stephen Winder 
(Pam) of Garden City, Kansas; six grandchildren and thirteen great 
grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joan Boyd of Abilene, Kansas.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Catherine Boyd; brothers, Fred Boyd and Rex Boyd.

Celebration of Lola’s Life will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, December
 5, 2022, at the Paradise United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at
 the Natoma City Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be held at the Church from 
10:00 AM to service time.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Irene Richecky Saip was born to Frank and Beulah ((Kopsa) Fisher on January 14, 1931 east of Cuba, KS on the Fisher farm and passed away on&nbsp;November 23, 2022 in Concordia, KS at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 9 days.

Irene grew up on the&nbsp;farm and graduated from Cuba High School in 1949.&nbsp; She graduated from Fairbury College with a degree in secretary skills.

She was united in marriage on August 2, 1949 to Larry Dean Richecky of Belleville, Kansas. They made their home at the 1863 Homesteaded Richecky Family Farm. to this union, three sons were born, Ray, Dwight, and Jerry.

From an early age, Irene learned to play the piano in grade school and eventually played at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba for decades.

Irene also was a secretary for Richecky Farms, Wes’s Auto Supply, and the Eagles Lodge.

After Larry passed away from leukemia on December 29, 1975, Irene married George Wesley Saip, Jr. (Jude) on September 2, 1978, at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba. They made their home in Enterprise, Kansas where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked at Enterprise Estates as an activity director.&nbsp;

On her days off, Irene was constantly helping neighbors, friends, and Estates residents get their medications, take them to doctor’s appointments, and various other activities to help as needed. She was always trying to help other people.

Jude and Irene loved to go camping and were members of the Sam’s Camping Club in Enterprise. 

On November 29, 2003, Jude passed away&nbsp;and Irene continued living in Enterprise until October 2018 when she moved back to Belleville, Kansas and became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Beulah Fisher, first husband Larry Richecky, and her second husband Jude Saip, son Dwight Richecky,&nbsp; two brothers, Eugene Fisher and Vernon Fisher,&nbsp; nephew Gary Fisher;&nbsp;&nbsp;two stepsons, Garland Saip and Sid Saip, and step-grandson Stacey Saip.

She is survived by her children Ray (Diana) Richecky of Wichita Kansas, Jerry (Shirley) Richecky of Belleville Kansas, grandsons Tyler Richecky, Grant Richecky, Jeff Richecky, and Alan Richecky, granddaughters Kelly Richecky, Jaime Fallesen, Lacy Paredes, and Angela Lang, and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Amos McCarthy and Pastor Guy Fisher, officiating.

Interment will be at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.

LaVone was raised in Clay Center and was a class of 1945 graduate from Clay Center High School.&nbsp; 

She married Oran Erickson on October 19, 1947.&nbsp; 

LaVone worked as the Deputy Register of Deeds for six years.&nbsp; She also served on the Clay County Election Board for 35 years.&nbsp; 

Oran preceded her in death on April 10, 2017.&nbsp; 

LaVone was a member of the Clay Center Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Ronald Erickson; granddaughter Lisa Erickson; sister Bernice Berggren; brother LeRoy Lind.

George Hubert Zurmely, 93, of Chapman, Kansas passed away November 25, 2022. He was born September 25, 1929 in Detroit, Kansas to Lawrence Hubert and Alice Reba (Poor) Zurmely. 

George grew up in the Chapman area, attended the local schools and graduated from Dickinson County High School in Chapman. 

After graduating from high school he worked at the Union Pacific Railroad as a laborer. He later went on to serve in the United States Navy for three years. 

He was united in marriage to Alberta Belle Greenwood on March 4, 1955. She preceded him in death January 18, 2020.

 George worked for Ft. Riley Civil Services in the housing department and transportation. 

George is survived by his five daughters, Debora Kay Fowler; Frances Marie Baldwin; Katherine Elizabeth Zsoka; Susan Dianne Marten; and Mary Ann Cairns; and one son, George Dwight Zurmely; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters, Cecilia and Frances. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m.., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chapman with Fr. Peter O’Donnell as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Chapman. Parish rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at the church at 5:00 p.m.., with visitation to follow. 

The family suggests memorials be given to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, P.O .Box 411, Chapman, Kansas 67431.

Janys was a homemaker and later in life worked at Alco and Target.&nbsp; She enjoyed camping, playing bingo, animals including her cats, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Janys was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kenny; her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Stamm.

Survivors include her son Ben, and fiancé Rhonda Lambert; two daughters, Debbie (Doug) Bolen, Jolene Breeden, two granddaughters, Amber (Paul) Cooper, and Chelsey (Matt) Broeckelman, two great-grandchildren, Ella Cooper, and Brooks Cooper; two step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Stamm.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Salina with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery with a luncheon following at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.

Ruth Elaine Miller, 93, Stockton and formerly of Hays, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton.

She was born February 28, 1929, in 
Webster, the daughter of Charles J. and Eunice (Selby) McCormick.&nbsp;&nbsp;She 
was a graduate of Webster High School, and on December 11, 1947, was 
united in marriage to Charles A. “Buck” Miller in Osborne.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were 
married over 45 years before he preceded her in death on April 5, 
1993.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruth and her husband were residents of Oakley from 1961 until 
1983 when they moved to Hays and owned and operated The Bridal Shop.&nbsp;&nbsp;In
 2011, Ruth moved to Stockton.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of First United 
Methodist Church in Hays, loved her volunteer work with Hospice and the 
ARC of Central Plains, and enjoyed sewing, clothing alterations, and 
traveling.

Survivors include her son Carl Miller 
and wife Janet of Gem, daughter Rachelle Miller of Salina, four 
grandchildren: Dustin Miller, Lindsey Herndon, Joel Shuler, and Brandon 
Conrad, eight great grandchildren: Maggie Shuler, Elijah, Noah, 
Meredith, and Emma Herndon, Macy, Serenity, and Miles Shuler, three 
great-great grandchildren: Asher Shuler, William and Kristina Martin, 
and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, and three sisters: Mabel Lowry, Neva Holcomb, and Beulah Waters.

Ryding, 71, passed away November 22, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. &nbsp;He was born May 7, 1951 in Nipiwan, Saskatchewan, Canada to Donald and Elizabeth (Buskist) Ryding. &nbsp;He married Kathryn Petersen December 30, 1977 in Wichita. &nbsp;Survivors include: wife Kathryn Ryding of Hillsboro; daughters Rebecca Ryding of Hillsboro, Jennie (Ron) Doty of Casa Grande, Arizona, Anne (Jess) Duda O'Neal, Nebraska; mother Elizabeth Ryding of O'Neal, Nebraska; brother David (Irene) Ryding of Hawaii; sister Marilyn Ryding of California. &nbsp;Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro officiated by Rev. Kristopher “Kris” Thyfault, age 45, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at HaysMed. Kris was born September 4, 1977, in Russell, Kansas, to Terrance Thyfault and Linda (Wolf) Thyfault. Kris graduated from Russell High School in 1996 where he participated in Football, Track and Band. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards with family, and attending his niece and nephews sporting events. Kris was a longtime employee with Universal Termite and Pest Control in Hays. Kris was well known with his customers and hard to miss because of his size. Contrary to his size Kris was known as a kind, soft spoken man who enjoyed visiting with his customers and making lasting relationships with them. Kris is survived by his father, Terry Thyfault of Topeka; his mother, Linda Thyfault of Hays; his sister, Katrina Schmidt and husband Eric and their children, Kyla and Kobe all of Hays; a grandmother, Edna Wolf Billinger (Pete) of Hays as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Anita Thyfault and Marcellus Wolf as well as an uncle, Rick Wolf. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 E. 13th, in Hays. Burial will follow services in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Schoenchen, Kansas. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Monday 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM all at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. A combined parish vigil and rosary service will be Sunday at 6:30 PM also at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to Your Voice through Cancer in Kris's memory.
